Change of Program: Obama Campaign Adds Gay Minister to Gospel Tour

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: The presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama has responded to the recent controversy surrounding Donnie McClurkin, by adding a gay minister to the "Embrace the Change" gospel tour.

Obama was criticized by the gay community for including gospel singer McClurkin in their tour, as McClurkin has said that homosexuality is a choice. The senator’s choice of McClurkin became fodder on liberal blogs.

Now, the Obama campaign has newly added Rev. Andy Sidden who is openly gay, for an appearance on Sunday in South Carolina.

McClurkin is still scheduled to make an appearance for the concert.

Weakness is demonstrated when you bend to every special interest group. This bending did’t take long. How much bending do we need in a President. I for one would rather have one that does not make his decisions based on pressure from special interest groups.

Gays and Lesbians are not special interest groups. They are as “American” as apple pie. While I do not share their veiws on secral issues I respect their humanity as living human being and feel they have a right to be who they are on Gods earth. I am please that Senator Obama has taken the step he did. The are fellow “American” and some are fighting and dying for our coutry despite the way they are treated.

@Greg: You call that ‘bending’? I’d hate to hear what you think ‘compromising’ is. Obama clearly made a very controversial choice in having both of these ministers on the same tour – something that no Politician would have the guts to do.
As Americans, we whine and whine about how everything’s getting worse and nothing’s changing, but the second someone who affects real change comes along – and has the voting record and history to back it up – we begin complaining and protesting because we’re being taken out of our politically safe zones.
