Colbert for President!
Trying to make World News and Nightline stories on this historic announcement worthy of the great man himself.
Suggestions?

Thought some of his material was familiar. Pat Paulsen and Mr. Ed both ran for president on the comedy ticket.

Why not do a story from the perspective of Geoffrey Jellineck, Chuck Noblet’s (Colbert’s role in Strangers with Candy) former love interest, complete with longing glances through frosted windows. All you have to do is track down Paul DiNello and Amy Sedaris. The clock is ticking!

Suggestion: write serious, relevant political commentary or newsworthy items. This falls in neither category.

While I was in your hometown last week, Jake, I saw Mr. Colbert’s show for the first time. (I don’t have cable or satellite TV at home. Every time I travel wherever cable is prevalent, I’m increasingly less inclined to ever subscribe to it.) His show was funny in a mild way, not as bitingly satirical as it could be, and entertaining enough when compared to such masterpieces as “The Biggest Loser.” (An aside: Who is “The Biggest Loser?” The audience that watches such drivel.) But it’s clear that Mr. Colbert is an entertainer and not a politician. As longtime contributors flyover and sophillyfatz have suggested, this vein of comedy has been mined more successfully before. Why is your editor assigning you such entertainment coverage?

Oh come on, my fellow regular contributors, you sound as humorless as Spock (minus the incoherent, fact-free rambling about “libs”). Remember, Jake writes about politics AND pop culture. Have fun with this, Jake, Colbert has been one of my favorites for years.

I generally don’t watch all of the Colbert Report, as it sounds like it should be on Faux Noise…Sometimes SC can’t even get through the material w/a straight face
I did see the ‘announcement’ on the Daily Show last night…I agree w/flyover – been there, done that
one interesting note – SC says he does not let his kids watch the Report, because they don’t understand that Daddy says things he doesn’t mean…

I have yet to hear anything incoherent from Spock!

Flyover,
Spock’s been delayed by his over-extended summit with Yoda– scheduling conflict, unavoidable Klingon convention

flyover and DKNY since you miss me, I did not want to get into politics on this one because its all in fun, but I am actually honored that Libs insult me, when they insult it means the truth is being said, now yes I am not an English major, nor do i have the time to write extended proof read blogs, so sometimes I may leave out a word or two. But all comes down to the modern day Democrat party is not the same party as FDR but it is the party of Marxism, to prove that look at Hilary’s past in school, realize that the lib media is full of 60′s throwbacks.
I am proud to be a conservative, why are you not proud to be a Liberal?
You should be proud of who you are, and of the party you support even though they want to destroy our Liberties.
Hey JLove – FYI yoda is not in Star Trek
