Giuliani & Geno’s
The former Mayor went to the best cheese steak shop in Philly yesterday, GENO’S. (Apologies to Rocky Balboa but I find Pat’s a little greasy.)
Perhaps surprisingly, perhaps not, Mr. Giuliani has won over the owner of Geno’s, Joey Vento, whom you may recall for last appearing in the national spotlight for insisting his customers speak "English Only." (LINK) Vento says he likes Giuliani’s position on securing the borders, the former Mayor’s previous support of New York City’s liberal position on illegal immigration notwithstanding. Here’s Mr. Vento (LINK).
But somebody’s laying the cheese whiz on a little thick these days. A congressional surrogate of the Mayor’s, Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, tells Christian Broadcasting (LINK) that Giuliani is basically "pro-life."
"In a hypothetical comparison of congressional votes, Mayor Giuliani’s voting record would mirror the voting record of Fred Thompson, including votes on partial birth abortion, taxpayer funding on abortions, and parental notification laws," Sessions said. "Mayor Giuliani respects the values of social conservatism, and his position on these issues would categorize him as a predominately pro-life Member of Congress."
Yesterday on World News with Charles Gibson (LINK) and the World News Webcast (LINK), we took a look at those Christian conservative leaders not buying Sessions’ argument, and their threat to consider a third-party presidential candidate should Giuliani get the nomination.
OpinionJournal’s John Fund takes a look at Giuliani’s phone habits HERE.
That said, despite a complicated primary process, Mr. Giuliani still leads the national polls, defying pundits’ predictions, and appears to be on something a roll — a delicious chewy roll, if Mr. Vento is catering.

CPAC: Romney Struggles to Convince Voters
Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
Rudy I know will be a great President! He did a lot for NY. What People got to understand is that NY has a high Liberal number of people, and it takes a lot of time to educate them on freedom and liberty.

Can’t get enough of people who don’t live in NYC telling those of us who do live in NYC how much Rudy Giuliani did for NYC. By September 10th, Giuliani had been revealed for the narrow-minded, bullying, petty hack many of us suspected he was all along (his handling of the Patrick Dorismond debacle was the last straw). Were it not for September 11, Giuliani would be teaching political science at CUNY right now, though it’s still not clear how being the Mayor of a City that is hit by a terrorist attack makes a person an expert on terrorism, particularly when that Mayor was instrumental in stationing the City’s Emergency Command Center in the location of the terrorist attack (despite many warnings (including a previous terrorist attack in that very location) that doing so was an awful idea).

Loved the WSJ report. Ha! I’d take a rude new yorker (and that IS the not so subtle connotation) any day over a fake polite southerner. Keep it real, Rudy. Take those calls.

First as far as before 9/11 – Did he not clean up downtown from all the porno shops, stop panhandling and lower crime rate to the lowest in NYC recent history to name a few.
you can not blame him for the actions of a few police officers, but then again the libs blame all republicans for everything. But not a lib, they can get away with murder.
Now as far as where he place the center, was not the FBI, CIA, Secret Service there. No one possible thought what happened could happen. OK! Prior to 9/11 that was a perfect location. Me though would of had that one and then a backup location, but both side did not think that way prior.
He handle the 9/11 issue very valiently, I know you think the mayor of New Orleans was a great mayor who allowed buses to flood instead of using them to get the people out.

I saw your great report yesterday evening on WN about the Religious Right not accepting Mayor Giuliani’s sudden conversion to their position. I especially enjoyed the comments from Richard Viguerie, whose dour facial expression clearly and unmistakably demonstrated that he wasn’t buying any of the nonsense or rationalizations being issued by Mayor Giuliani’s spokespeople. Either that, or he’d been sucking a lemon just before the interview.
Aside to spock: the last sentence of your first posting of the day (“What People got to understand is that NY has a high Liberal number of people, and it takes a lot of time to educate them on freedom and liberty.”) is positively Stalinesque in its scope and meaning. It’s clear that you must be one of the advisors to the President about his “No Childrens [sic] or Liberals Left Behind” Act.
On a personal note, Jake, thank you for the recommendation about Geno’s. I’m going to be visiting Philadelphia on vacation next week and wanted a recommendation for a good cheesesteak sandwich. If I recall correctly, you have yours wit’ wiz and ketchup, right?
Now, if only someone could tell me where the Jake Tapper Museum for Broadcast Journalism is.

chuck – I am not Hilary, I do not believe in stalinism, Teaching people freedom and Liberty is what this country is about.
He actually did teach some, he turned people that welfare into having jobs at hight numbers, that is getting people off of socialism.
The no child left behind act would work if states would follow it, see when there is billions still in the coffers not being used because the dems are owned by unions and do not want school choice you can not blame Pres. Bush.

There comes a point in the development of a fertilized egg when it becomes human, even though it rests inside another human, on whom it depends for its life. There are those who believe that point is immediately upon conception. On the other extreme, some believe that point is not reached until a human exits from the birth canal. Most people are somewhere in the middle. Many voters believe that although abortion is wrong, it can be legal up to a point–so they agree with a ban on partial birth abortions. They believe that parents should be notified of their minor childrens’ medical choices. From what one can find to read, that is what Giuliani believes. If he is derailed by one-issue voters on the Religious Right, those voters will be voting for socialized medicine, unrestricted abortion, no parental notification–perhaps even free condoms at junior high schools. It would be like Dems refusing to vote for Clinton because she voted for the war, and won’t commit to an immediate troop pullout, tipping the election to Giuliani. Most people know that one-issue voting (or one-issue election boycotting) has never worked. Rudy and Hillary are both counting on that.

SteveW – RIGHT ON!
I will never understand why a doctor needs parental consent to put a band-aid on a child but yet can due a intrusive medical procedure on them without!

chuck – do yourself a favor…skip the tourist traps and head to Tony Luke’s

Phillygirl64, many thanks for the recommendation! I was only familiar with Pat’s and Geno’s, so I’m especially pleased to get a recommendation from someone who lives in Philadelphia. I visited Tony Luke’s website and even downloaded the menu. It looks like it’s as authentic as can be and absolutely delicious.
