Giuliani Wishes Well to Brownback and Torre

ABC News’ Jan Simmonds reports: “I do respect Sam Brownback very, very much,” said Rudy Giuliani Thursday afternoon, commenting on Sen. Sam Brownback’s, R-K.A., expected announcement that he will be ending his bid for the presidency.

“His contributions to the debates was always insightful, very good,” Giuliani added. “You know I can’t speak for why he did it or how he did it [dropping out of the race]. But if you are asking me if I have very high regard for Senator Brownback? I do. And I think he made a very positive contribution to the campaign.”

The former New York City Mayor and longtime New York Yankee fan also felt obliged to comment on Joe Torre’s decision to not resign with the Bronx Bombers.

“… This is a very sad day for anyone who is Yankee fan,” said Giuliani. “I think this is a sad day for baseball fans, because I think Joe Torre was, what I think athletes would describe as, a class guy. Unquestionably someone who has transcended baseball.”

Giuliani also joked, as he often does on the trail, that if Torre wasn’t from New York, he’d pick him as his Vice Presidential candidate.

“He was one of the most successful managers in the history of baseball. I wrote about him in my book ‘Leadership.’ He is a great leader,” Giuliani added.

Say, since Giuliani is speaking of the Yankees, what’s the latest regarding his Yankee championship ring scandal?
