McCain Raises $6 Million in Q3

ABC News’ Bret Hovell Reports: The campaign of Senator John McCain announced Thursday that they raised $6 million in the third quarter of 2007.

McCain has $3.6 million cash on hand at the close of the quarter.

For some context, McCain raised $11.6 million dollars in the 2nd quarter, and $13.1 million dollars in the 1st quarter.

During the 2nd quarter the campaign spent $13.1 million, a million and a half dollars more than they took in for the quarter.

McCain has attributed the money problems of the 2nd quarter as a product of that excessive spending, rather than not taking in enough money.

The financial situation of the McCain campaign has been highly scrutinized for much of the last three months. The poor money management in the 2nd quarter contributed to the firing of McCain’s campaign manager and one of his closest longtime advisers back in July.
