Michelle Obama in Accident

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: While campaigning for her husband in Iowa Tuesday, the van driving Michelle Obama crashed with a motorcycle, totaling the campaign van and hospitalizing the motorcyclist.

"The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, and Barack and Michelle’s thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time, " Obama Iowa spokesman Tommy Vietor says.

The campaign has suspended the rest of Mrs. Obama’s activities for the remainder of the day.

Barack Obama spoke to his wife earlier this evening before an event in Plymouth, New Hampshire, his campaign said.  He began his town hall 20 minutes late but was upbeat and did not mention the accident.

Michelle Obama in a Car Accident

Seems minor though the campaign van she was in which hit a motorcycle was totaled and she took off the rest of the day. No injuries to Michelle. Story from ABC News.

A great lady still, whether she’s first lady or not.

it is so easy to tell who is a republican! No compassion! Republicans only know how to HATE.
They are a typical example of SUB-HUMANS….Even CAVEMEN are smarter.

this is one of those omens. Like Dole tumbling off the stage. Only worse.

Sorry to hear that even though I don’t like her so much. She needs to be more humble, to tone down her language.

She needs to be more “humble”?? Oh, you mean, she needs to stop being assertive, smart and articulate?
Polite women never make history.

Looks like the Van was at fault, and I am wondering why there’s NO mention of this on any of the national news channel morning shows? I tried the ABC links on this story & they were all disabled!
Had it been a republican candidate or spouse, there’d be all kinds of NEGATIVE coverage, but this doesn’t even rate a mention, especially since the Van’s driver appears to have been at fault? typical biased politics by the news media!

“typical biased politics by the news media!”
OK, so EVERY conservative I know says the medial has a liberal bias, and EVERY liberal I know thinks the media has a conservative bias.
They’re both wrong.
The media has a MONEY bias – they run what they think will give us ratings. W was pretty popular in 2003 when we invaded Iraq, the media was supportive of it mainly because they didn’t want to alienate the majority of Americans. Now we’ve changed our minds about Iraq, and so has the media.
Michelle’s fine and the motorcycle driver isn’t anybody the general public gives a crap about anyway – so this isn’t news – because most people would just say “boring” and change the channel.

The van/SUV apparently turned left in front of the motorcycle, sending the poor guy to the hospital. Headline “Michele Obama not hurt”.

Geez, “Big Daddy”, have you forgotten about Laura Bush killing her ex-boyfriend with her car? Al Gore jr was six years old when he was hit and nearly killed by a car – - what is the matter with you? Seriously.

you mean she is uppity?
my god, she is a brilliant attorney, why should she dumb herself down?

This isn’t a partisan issue, this is a human issue. A motorcycle hit a vehicle and the cyclist was hurt.
To those trying to make it a political issue, try being human beings for once and stop lashing out with your anger at one side or another.
It makes all sides look less than human.

Someone made a lame attempt at saying Democrats and vehicles don’t mix, mentioning Ted Kennedy. How about Laura Bush who killed someone with a car, probably under the influence? How about George W. Bush who had numerous driving offenses? We don’t know a lot of the details, because he had his minions like Harriott Myers purge incriminating records during one of his runs for public office.
[speculation]I believe the dubya was guilty of both use and distribution of cocaine. I believe he got caught, and daddy pulled out all of the stops to avoid the fallout to the entire Bush clan. Daddy was, after all, a congressman and then head of the CIA. Dubya’s drug use is one reason why he didn’t submit to flight physicals. While he was flying for the TNG, he was also employed by a small company that imported “exotic plants” from Florida to Texas. How many plants can fit into the cockpit of a fighter jet? Turns out, lots if they are conveniently turned into powder form first. He was probably caught at this, which is why he departed for a political campaign in another state and kept such a low profile with the guard, noone can remember him showing up. Back to Laura, she was rumored to be a pot distribution queen in her college daze.[/speculation]

Why wasn’t the campaign van ticketed?

A motorcycle hit a vehicle? Sounds like it was the other way around.

Who hasn’t been in an accident?

Posted by: larua | October 10, 2007, 12:24 pm 12:24 pm

Of course the motorcyclist was severely injured. Those things are insanely dangerous.
I lost a brother-in-law to a motorcycle accident, and a co-worker lost his foot when he had to lay his bike down (the kick-stand clipped it right off).
Motorcycles are lots of fun until they either kill or maim you.
Have a Nice Day!

mmm, the article doesn’t even imply she was driving, sounds to me like it was the campaign van, and probably had a professional driver.

Hey, I was at the accident for a little bit. Quit being so rough on her. Almost everyone is involved in some sort of vehicle accident. Sure the other person was hurt more, but he also wasnt wearing a helmet and was on a motorcycle that doesnt protect him from flying off. Think about it. Everyone just needs to calm down. Accidents happen and they have been tortured enough!!! Think about it. How would you like to live with the thought of hitting a person and sending them to the hospital???

Indeed, Obama-he is a liar AT LEAST three times. First, he promised his Illinois constituents that he would serve out his entire first term prior to considering a run for president. He did not. Second, he promised his constituents he would pass legislation which would better regulate Exelon and other energy companies who were bilking customers (and possibly causing an increase in cancer rates). Yet not only did he allow Exelon to re-write the legislation in their favor, but he accepted over $200,000 in campaign contributions from them. Third, he stated – in public, on TV, during a debate – that “the only” connection between him and Tony Rezko was “5 hours” he spent on “a single case” as a “junior attorney.” Yet not only did he also spend at least five months working closely with Rezko on a real estate deal (they bought contiguous lots), but he accepted tens of thousands of dollars from Rezko for his campaigns.
