Paul Raises Jaw-Dropping $5 Million
ABC News’ Z. Byron Wolf Reports: It dominated headlines yesterday when Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, announced her campaign juggernaut had outpaced all rivals in the campaign fundraising horse race with a $27 million haul in the third quarter.
Today’s fundraising announcement by Rep. Ron Paul, the Republican Libertarian ob-gyn from Texas, doesn’t involve quite as much money, but is downright jaw-dropping.
His campaign is revealing today that in the 3rd quarter Paul raised $5,080,000. This is more than double his 2nd quarter figure of $2.4 million and no small sum for an insurgent campaign.
Comparatively, Paul’s Q3 figure is five times what was raised in the same period by GOP rival former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is often given a better chance at the party nomination by political pundits. It puts Paul in the same fundraising neighborhood as top-tier Republican candidates like Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
Paul has become the buzz candidate with his hearty and vocal supporters, omnipresent on the Internet and at campaign events. But Paul’s strict Libertarianism — he is as vocal in his opposition to the Iraq war as he is in his support for the 2nd Amendment — could hurt him with the GOP base who will ultimately choose the Republican nominee.
ABC’s affiliate in Manchester, New Hampshire caught Paul at the airport Wednesday. To watch Paul’s reaction to his third quarter fundraising success, click HERE.

Good job Dr Paul!! And thank you ABC for reporting it so fairly.
The momentum is on our side grassroots. Now it’s time for us to take our Internet Army offline and WIN the election. Let’s start paying attention to the one-on-one of neighborhood canvassing, neighborhood organizing – and expand the donor base.
Tell your real-world neighbors about Ron Paul. If they need to switch parties to vote for RP, then let them know how. Expanding the base of the GOP – and being able to beat the Dems – by expounding traditional solid GOP beliefs (certainly more than Guiliani) – is the way that Ron Paul will win the support of the existing GOP base. And Dr Paul is the only candidate who can do that.

Posted by: Sean O'Brien | October 3, 2007, 1:40 pm 1:40 pm
Can we finally put him in the top-tier? The tier stuff is ridiculous. He’s got more cash on hand then everyone except Giuliani!!! And he’s got far more grassroots support.
Ron Paul will win this race, there is no doubt anymore!
Posted by: Kevin | October 3, 2007, 1:40 pm 1:40 pm
Here’s an example of why Ron isn’t polling higher. This is a paraphrase of the Rassmussen tele-polling script:
So check out Rassmussen’s “scientific” methodology… Here’s a paraphrase of his script:
“For Rudy Giuliani Press 1
For Fred Thompson Press 2
For Mitt Romney, Press 3
For John McCain, Press 4
For Mike Huckabee, Press 5
For a list of other candidates, Press 6″
Nice and scientific.

It’s only jaw-dropping to ABC News because their political analysts are out of touch with what is going on in the country.
No other candidate has independent groups of people creating home-made signs, canvassing neighborhoods, creating their own donation programs, and showing up in force at state and country straw polls– Which Ron Paul either wins or places high in.
Ron Paul actually has more state and county straw poll wins that the Frudy McRomson clones ABC News and other networks keep saying are our only choices.
I would suggest ABC News give a lot more coverage to Ron Paul. It gives more credibility to your network– because right now, you look out of touch.
Posted by: B Reyes | October 3, 2007, 1:44 pm 1:44 pm
We are a mighty train gaining steam by the day!!!!!!!!!
Paul’s cash on hand will be even higher then that because, he is a true conservative when it comes to money and in no way, blew away the 3 plus million he had on hand going into Q3.
Why would a party, whose traditons have been for the second ammendment and against intervention wars, find Pauls support for the second ammendment rights and non interventionism hurtful?
That comment smells afoul of something rotten happening within the GOP if that were to be true.
What will hurt if not finish the Republican party is putting in a Constitutional law breaking, public ignoring, war mongering, spend thrift. They will looose if they do that.
70% Americans want out of this war. The Second Ammendment is a Law of the land and a legal right for self protection. I would be suspicious of the motives of anyone wanting to take that right away from us. So much money has been spent, Congress had to raise the borrowing credit limit to meet Bush’s out of control spending budgets.
Without Paul at the helm to straighten the parties direction out, the Republicans are toast!
Viva the rEVOLution. Long Live Ron Paul, his supporters and their message of freedom, liberty and prosperity.

How the heck is Hannity going to explain over $5,000,000 in donations?
Even a hack like Hannity can’t claim that kind of money came from “a few internet spammers.”
Gee, maybe Ron Paul’s ideas on small government and freedom really are popular, despite the best efforts of Fox News and others to pretend that they aren’t…
Posted by: James Blund | October 3, 2007, 1:53 pm 1:53 pm
For what it’s worth, “Libertarianism” just means that you favor “Libery” over “Socialism.” It’s not the bad word that the media tries to make it out to be. Of course, in a welfare state, “Libertarianism” is a bad word, because it means the government gets to take less of your money to distribute as they see fit.
Posted by: Ichabod | October 3, 2007, 1:54 pm 1:54 pm
YEAH! We did it. 6 months ago people said we were crazy and he was a no one. Look at him now with barely ANY mainstream media support. MSNBC is calling him an isolationist today, he is not. The people love him because he does not stand for his principals, he just wants to do the job of the President, ensure the Constitution is being enforced. Look in the news, people were arrested the other day for reading the constitution?????? Why do they fear us having the power again so much? Our current administration tells us if you are not for the war on terror you are un-American, etc. If you are not for the constitution, then what are you? What is so bad about5 Ron Paul, I have never heard a valid argument except for the terrorism bogeyman.
Posted by: Drew | October 3, 2007, 1:57 pm 1:57 pm
It must have been those 5 Paul supporters/spammers donating a dollar 1,000,000 times, right? I would hope this might shut up the haters for awhile, but I doubt it. They’re scared to death of Mr. Paul.
And come on, ABC! This is jaw-dropping to no one who’s actually paying attention to what’s going on.
And since it’s the media’s JOB to pay attention to what’s going on, that begs the question: Is the media really that ignorant of the political landscape in this country, or is it purposefully not reporting Mr. Paul’s support accurately?
Posted by: Greg8898 | October 3, 2007, 2:00 pm 2:00 pm
Since when does supporting 2nd amendment rights diminish support from the GOP base? Lets keep the money coming, the media oligopoly can’t belittle Paul’s campaign forever.
Posted by: Todd | October 3, 2007, 2:05 pm 2:05 pm
Cash on hand is $5,300,000 for Q3(out of the press release)
The important figure I saw was:
Ron Paul: Fundraising up 114%
Romney: Fundraising down 29%
Guilliani: Fundraising down 40%
McCain: Fundraising down 55%
Ron Paul is the only candidate who is going up even w/o mainstream news coverage.
Posted by: Andrew | October 3, 2007, 2:07 pm 2:07 pm
“But Paul’s strict Libertarianism … could hurt him with the GOP base who will ultimately choose the Republican nominee.”
I don’t think this “base” is as big as what you say it is. The Republican party is made up of people who respect America’s traditional values– and that doesn’t mean God, guns, and gays, but ANY kind of freedom. The “holy warriors” are a tiny and stupid minority.

“His support for the 2nd amendment could hurt him with the GOP base” Last time I checked the GOP base was solidly pro 2nd amendment. Ron Paul (and millions of Americans) just want the rest of the Constitution respected too. Ron Paul in ’08!

And that $5 million doesn’t count all the FREE campaigning he’s getting from thousands of supporters.
To put it in perspective, I run a meetup group of 19 members and we have spent nearly $700, not counting our time. So add another $700 for our time and another $600 since we’re a below-average sized group, multiply by 950 meetup groups nationwide and you get $1.9 million.
No doubt about it, he’s top tier.
Posted by: Raymond | October 3, 2007, 2:39 pm 2:39 pm
Guess what, all those poll figures are a farce as well. Zogby does not even list him, you have to say other? Oh well, looks like we need to get him that 12 million before New Years after all. What a corrupt system we live in, as bad as the Ruskies almost.

Posted by: Gene | October 3, 2007, 2:42 pm 2:42 pm
The mainstream candidates are all about “the base,” but that’s not what wins the general election. That’s for the primaries.
There are TONS of people who reliably vote either Republican or Democrat but DON’T vote in the primaries. The primaries are usually reserved for the folks who think gay marriage is the most heinous and pressing issue of our time, or that abortion must be guaranteed up until the point when a baby’s toes are out of the womb.
But there’s a big possibility a lot of people are going to be shocked at the primaries this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if new primary voters–a lot of them younger–give Mr. Paul and Mr. Obama HUGE boosts. That’ll probably be “jaw-dropping” to ABC, too.

This is only the beginning. Now we need everyone who donated last quarter to match or increase that donation. Everyone needs to find two people who support Ron Paul but have not yet contributed. If that cant be done then hold a small fundraiser like a movie night in your home and charge 15 bucks for food and drinks and send the rest to Ron Paul. More people will be willing to contribute now since they will feel that they might actually be buying a new direction for the country and not throwing their money away. Ron Paul will win this thing if we do our part. We gotta take the power back. Find a way to double your last quarter donation.

We are fighting mainstream America, which is about to be a ‘military and/or service state’ in the world governement system. Our decendents will hold us in high contempt if we allow the constitution to go by by, and it’s headed in that direction extremely fast with any other candidate than Ron. Posted by: tejón | October 3, 2007, 3:35 pm 3:35 pm
Yes, conservatives will be running in droves away from Ron Paul’s pristine pro-Second Amendment voting record, to endorse gun-grabbers like Giuliani and McCain and Romney. What chance does he have?
Maybe if they’re tired of being pro-life, they’ll like Giuliani more than Paul. Maybe if they’ve decided amnesty isn’t so bad, they’ll opt for McCain over Paul.
The truth is, Ron Paul is more conservative than the front-runners, and has the political viability edge on the war issue. Republicans would be nuts not to nominate him.

The problem is, all of Mr. Paul’s money has to come from us “little guys” (and gals). He wants to sever the umbilical cord between the federal government and big corporations and commercial banks. That doesn’t sit well with the folks who have all the money and still like to get taxpayer-funded hand-outs. And they’re the ones giving lots of cash to all the other candidates.
That’s why it’s SO important for us to spread the word to our families, friends, and neighbors. This truly has to be a “grass-roots” campaign for it to succeed. The “system”, for lack of a better word, is very powerful–and this is the biggest fight against the system I’ve seen in my lifetime.

What this proves is that the mainstream media is in denial. The truth is that Ron Paul is a “top-tier” candidate and he should be treated as such by the media (though, unlike the other “top-tier” candidates, he has enough class and respect for voters to actually show up at the debates).

Now, if someone will only wake up morons like George Stephanopolous and his panel of “mouthpieces” with their fingers on the pulse of…well…I’m not sure what their fingers are on. ABC’s job is to report the news and not guide viewers to maniacs like Giuliani. We already have one FOX, do we really need ABC, NBC and CBS to do the thinking for the populace. As an independent, there is only one candidate making sense this election, and that’s Ron Paul. Pity George and Bush apologist George Will don’t see it that way, and command so much of ABC News’ programming that the average slob will never get to hear the message.

Add in the grassroots effort, here’s a lowball estimate of the value of that:
50,000 meetup members x minimum wage x 1 hour/week = $300k/wk, or $1.2m/month. But wait, many of these people are contributing MUCH MORE than an hour per week, and their skills and creativity are worth MUCH more than minimum wage. We might be talking more on the order of $10 million or more per month in the value of the grassroot volunteer army’s efforts.

Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like ‘America Deceived’ from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.

Ron Paul will be in the top tier by the end of the year. He is the only fiscal conserative in the traditional Republican style. Once the media gets a clue that only Ron Paul is capable to fix a dysfunctional government it’s on to glory.

Who isnt for Freedom and restoring a document that lately has seemed to be forgotten, the US Constitution?!! Funny how the mainstream media has tried so hard to silence Ron but his campaign numbers are the ONLY candidates to DOUBLE every quarter! He has a solid grassroots effort by citizens that believe very stongly in his message, call it a revolution if you will.

Yeah the money’s important but why aren’t we provided with the NUMBER OF CONTRIBUTORS instead of the monetary value???? If Ron Paul has 500,000 contributors but Romney or Giuliani only have 100,000 contributors, guess who wins in VOTES? RON PAUL.
We need to know the truth and I guess that’s why they don’t provide the number of contributors. More smoke and mirrors.

We The People are doing it!!!!! This is no surprise (other than it is being covered, but then again, you can’t really ignore it now), but it’s far from over. This R3V07ution is a runaway freight train which will end up smashing through all media bias and end up right into The White House. This will be an amazing crash, which will bring down frivolity, lying and corruption. The People have spoken!

Ufcama, nobody wants someone like Fred Thompson in the White House. He has flipped his views more times than he changes his underwear. Oh yeah and he’s a former LOBBYIST.
We’re in the mess we’re in right now in this country (with the state and corporations coming first and the people following a long third) because of all the lobbying.
RON PAUL 2008 – NO OTHER CANDIDATE HAS HIS ETHICS, INTEGRITY, HONESTY AND CHARACTER. MOST CERTAINLY, NO OTHER CANDIDATE RESPECTS AND ADHERES TO THE CONSTITUTION MORE THAN RON DOES! HE WILL SAVE THE REPUBLIC IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY.

What that the Alarm clock going off or is it the snooze alarm? Either or it sounds like America is waking up.
And if it was such a shocker to everyone let me request that you all do a little self-evaluation on your so-called political experts. They don’t seem to have a very good bead on what is happening in america and what is happening around the world. I can understand it being a shock though, It is a shock that a politician can be honest with the american people and they will respond favorably. Just shocking…

I have 8 children 6 of whom are voting for Dr. Paul. Every weekend we take 4 by 8 foot RP banners to busy Oceanside intersections and stand on opposite corners waving flags, and returning victory signs to the many cars honking at us.
Typically ten thousand vehicles go through in one hour. If just half the current nationwide meetup group members do this, we will expose Ron Paul’s name, and demonstrate the enthusiasm of his supporters, to 300,000,000 people (a number equal to the entire population of the country) every two weeks – at zero cost to the campaign!

The reason the other candidates (namely Guliani, Obama and Clinton) have raised to much more money is because they are media-sponsored. Their muggs are all over the covers of magazines, constantly mentioned in the news, etc.
If Pee Wee Herman were to announce his candidacy and the media spun him in a biased way like the major candidates have been, he would get at least a significant amount of votes.
Many people in the U.S. only get their news from the major media (unfortunately) which means what the media puts out there, is what people get.
I am not speaking to the media in this post, they already know what they are doing. I’m speaking to the people who simply don’t realize this.

This is great news but here is the important thing: you must REGISTER ahead of time in order to vote for Ron Paul in the primary! Most states require that you register “R” in order to vote in the Republican primary. Some have deadlines approaching soon. Don’t neglect to register to vote in the Republican primary, and tell like-minded supporters to do so as well!

Come on ABC get it right. Ron Paul is not against the war, he is against unconstitutional undeclared war. He proposed legislation to declare and was told “we don’t do that anymore” and that the constitution was anachronistic.
Ron Paul is the best hope for American and a statesman who has honored his oath to support and defend. So stop with the inaccurate anti-war nonsense.

Whoo Hoo!!!
Posted by: Whoo Hoo | October 3, 2007, 6:17 pm 6:17 pm
* The NET cash-on-hand for the Ron Paul campaign is $5,300,000.
Ron Paul’s fund-raising increased 114 percent in the Third quarter. This is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney’s fund-raising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.
This places Ron Paul ahead of Romney, McCain, and Thompson in NET cash-on-hand. Ron Paul spends less money to raise money. I.E. Ron Paul is frugal, just like he votes in congress.
* Las Vegas says Ron Paul is a top tier candidate, he is 4-1 to win the Republican nomination, ahead of Fred Thompson:
Odds:
Ron Paul; 4-1
Ghouliani; 9-5
McCain; 5-2
Romney; 5-2
Thompson; 7-2
Huckabee; 15-1
Brownback; 15-1
Tancredo; 50-1
Hunter; 100-1
So that shoots down the idea that Ron Paul can’t win.
* Ron Paul has performed best in the only elections that have actually happened; straw polls. According to straw polls, the top tier candidates are Ron Paul 1st, Fred Thompson 2nd, and Mitt Romney 3rd. All the others are 2nd tier.
STRAW POLL RESULTS
* The argument can be made that Ron Paul has a better chance to win a general election vs Hillary Clinton than any other candidate, because of the war issue. Remember, Howard Dean was sunk BEFORE the 2004 Iowa Caucus (and BEFORE the Dean scream) because it was argued that Dean was “too liberal” to win a general election. But the war is much more unpopular now, than when Dean ran. So I do not think the “too conservative” or “too liberal” argument would fly with Ron Paul.
Latest war poll:
Poll: Most Want Cut in War Funding
General Election Analysis by Super Stephen Gordon
Hillary v. Ron Paul
* Fred Thompson just said he wants more war funding.
Thompson: More Guns, Less Butter
This will be a big drawback if Fred Thompson thinks he can win a general election. Thompson already put his foot in his mouth twice last month which is not a good sign for him. Tommy Thompson did the same thing and look what happened to him.
* McCain & Romney are so radical pro-war that they are both unelectable in a general election.
[I am not providing any links on this, as it is obvious.]
* Christian Right to Support Ron Paul?
Christian Conservatives Threaten Third Party If Giuliani Wins GOP Nomination
James Dobson’s group has annual revenues of over $100 million, and the other groups rake in millions from their flocks as well. Ron Paul is right on with these guys on abortion. Maybe some of the $1.2 million raised last week by Ron Paul was from the Christian Right?
Ron Paul also has the endorsement of key Third Party leaders, including Michael Peroutka (millionaire Christian conservative and 2004 Constitution Party presidential nominee), Michael Badnarik (2004 LP presidential nominee), Aaron Russo (deceased, runner-up to Badnarik in ’04), Steve Kubby (leading 2008 LP presidential candidate), and the bulk of the libertarian movement. The Green Party is not too keen on Hillary Clinton and likes Ron Paul’s war position.
* Ghouliani, the republican front-runner, has major 9/11 baggage that will haunt and spook him in the primaries and general election:
Ghouliani’s 9/11 Albatross
9/11 protesters hounding Ghouliani where ever he goes
* Debates: Ron Paul has performed very well, perhaps best, in all the TV debates he has appeared in. This bodes well for the future, and may explain why his fund-raising has skyrocketed this year. Ron Paul certainly performs like a top tier candidate in all debates, and has won every post-debate viewer poll.
* Honeymoon effect:
Fred Thompson (and Obama) are newcomers who have not taken positions on many issues nor have they faced media scrutiny. Their poll numbers will drop as the campaign wears on. Ron Paul has been around for three decades taking positions on major issues.
* Ron Paul is the top candidate on the Internet, approached only by Obama:
MSNBC: Libertarian Ron Paul has become ‘an Internet sensation’
Ron Paul spends less money to raise money, because he just sends out an email.
* Ron Paul will not drop out of the race because of money. McCain, Romney, and Thompson will drop out when their campaigns cease to be financially viable. Expect Ron Paul to speak at the national GOP convention next summer.
Ron Paul in for the Long Haul
CONCLUSION:
The only area where Ron Paul lags behind is where it matters most; the Polls.
But these polls may have bias that under-reports Ron Paul’s support, possibly because of the proliferation of cell phones and unorthodox support garnered by Paul.
The future looks bright for Ron Paul. He now has plenty of money to run TV commercials and expand his fund-raising. Ron Paul has set a goal of $12 million for the 4th quarter. If he reaches that, watch out!

woohoo! I’ve never given to a political candidate before, but Dr. Paul has me pulling out my wallet happily. I’ve given $300 so far and the good doctor will probably get more out of this new college graduate, despite those student loans I have to pay off.
Since 70% of Republicans are against the war, and since most Republicans are pro-2nd Amendment, I’m puzzled by your statement that he won’t appeal to the party’s base.
He’s the only GOP candidate who’s been happily married for 50 years, the only one who as an obstetrician is pro-life, the only one who according to Gun Owners of America has never voted against the 2nd Amendment, and the only one out of the bunch who can be trusted to actually do what he says– the others are a sorry bunch of liars from whom I wouldn’t even buy a used car, let alone trust the future of this country. GOP voters will see that too.

If you remove the spin from this story- which involves the usual dismissal of Ron Paul as being representative of the american people-
If you remove that spin you are left with one glaring fact.
Ron Paul is the one america wants.
The rest of those clowns from both parties are employees of the corporate machine pretending like they have a right to be on stage.

Don’t let your guard down. The controlled media is fearful of Ron Paul.
1) They will ignore him..and if that doesn’t work (which it appears now that it hasn’t)
2) They will attempt parody and biased skewed news slanted toward the comical…and if that doesn’t work
3) They will get downright nasty with reporting any dirt they can find, any insult they can come up with.
Watch for it…

Also:
Anybody think it is peculiar that Obama comes out of nowhere, seemingly overnight, and becomes a national player on the political scene overnight? I do. He has passed the filter, thus was promoted as being a player, when he is nothing more than a front. Ron Paul is THE true and honest candidate for the people.

I heard about Ron Paul early in the year and was astonished that his only mainstream coverage was from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. To this day I have yet to see actual mainstream attention focused on him without hiding words that deceptively convince people that he is nobody important. I watched his support grow very rapidly regardless, and was delighted to watch him stand firm on his ground in all the debates. He speaks fluently and informatively. His record backs those words. Finally, a candidate that speaks for me. Vote for the good Dr. Paul 2008.

Finally, some well-deserved media attention! The media is so out of touch on Ron Paul’s popularity. He’s going to win the Republican nomination. Every Republican I know loves him, and one friend who has always voted Democrat changed his affiliation to vote for Dr. Paul. This guy is not just a front-runner, he is THE GOP front runner.
Posted by: Dakota | October 3, 2007, 7:11 pm 7:11 pm
Hooray for Dr. No!!
Why does ABC suggest that his anti-Iraq stance and support of the 2nd amendment will hurt him with the GOP base? Have they failed to notice the poll numbers of support for Pres. Bush and the Republican controlled Congress? And then the Democratic controlled Congress? Those Republican candidates do not represent the base. They represent minority interests – that includes the Christian fundamentalists. When is the press going to grasp that while the majority in this country are Christian, only a very small minority are fundamentalists.
Besides, with the CIA, NSA, FBI, state police, county police, local police and all the laws that Congress keeps passing, the majority is going to be a policeman of some sort anyway and be carrying a gun on them.

Congratulations, ABC! You finally realized there is a candidate out there the people support! It isn’t jaw-dropping though. It is just the beginning. And one point I would like to correct is that Ron Paul is not anti-war. He is against “pre-emptive strikes and undeclared wars. I am confused that a man that holds the beliefs of the REAL (deceased?) republican party is going to be hurt by believing in the very issues by which that party was founded.
Anyway, thank you for finally reporting reality news in politics today.

It’s really simple. Every dollar you give to Ron Paul is a dollar you don’t have confiscated by the government later. Even better, it’s also a dollar that your working-class neighbor trying to make ends meet doesn’t have confiscated by the government later.
The Revolution is ON!

I’m not really planning on voting for Ron Paul, but hey, if I hd to choose between him or Guiliani I would definitely choose this guy! It’s encouragain to see he actually got some coverage with even an ABCNews video. Congrats to RP and all you loyal supporters. Ron Paul adds something very important to the process by talking about the Constitution. He is setting up talking points, much as Newt would have, which will have to be discussed for years to come. I don’t agree with him on everything (is there anyone I do?!) but I do admire him. It certainly makes it more enjoyable watchign the debates with the vocal support he gets. I’m just glad that he isn’t embarrassing like the Dem’s counterpart, Gravel who just seems angry and childish the whole time.

GO RON PAUL!!!
The media won’t talk about the 13 straw polls that Ron Paul has won. He also has 5 second place and 5 third place straw poll finishes. He has won most of the online polls and text polls after all of the republican debates, but the bias media on all channels won’t discuss it. WHY? Because Ron Paul is the peoples candidate and ALL the others are the puppets! We the people raised that money and we the people want RON PAUL!
Posted by: Dustin | October 3, 2007, 7:26 pm 7:26 pm
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

I’d say it’s official now: Ron Paul is a TOP TIER GOP Candidate! As far as I’m concerned, the others are unelectable with their pro-war position. McCain is unelectable with his pro-amnesty stand. They want to continue into Iran now. They are out of touch with the American people. My local meetup in Palm Beach will be out there with signs this weekend for RP.

Most of the other big name candidate’s donations are mainly political bribes from the wall street bankers and special interest groups.

PS
* Ron Paul has already qualified for about $3 million in federal matching funds. If he hits his 4th quarter fund-raising goal, he would qualify for an additional $6 million. That would project to about $22 million cash-on-hand to spend in January.
* Ghouliani has some other major baggage; he said he was married to his 3rd cousin, but it was really his 2nd cousin. He also has several marriages and divorces which doesn’t help in republican primaries. His kids are also on the record as either not liking him, or supporting democrats. Nice dude.
This country is broken. We need a doctor, not a lawyer.

“But Paul’s strict Libertarianism … could hurt him with the GOP base who will ultimately choose the Republican nominee.”
“I don’t think this “base” is as big as what you say it is. The Republican party is made up of people who respect America’s traditional values– and that doesn’t mean God, guns, and gays, but ANY kind of freedom. The “holy warriors” are a tiny and stupid minority.”
And, don’t forget about us libertarian leaning democrats! I haven’t voted for a republican presidential candidate since 1988, but I’ve already changed my registration to Republican so I can vote for Ron Paul in the NY primary. Ron Paul speaks to all Americans who want freedom and liberty for themselves and their children so he really is crossing “traditional” party lines.

I am part of the Republican Base….Ron Paul is not as far out of step with the base as the Liberal Media would like to believe. Our party base is Conservative Libertarian at heart. Though I don’t agree with Ron Paul on everything, he is much better than all the front runners, except Huckabee. He definitely is better than any of the Democratic candidates. The base would support Ron Paul in the General Election and many of the base are supporting him now, because the front runners aren’t worth voting for.

I am shocked ABC News allowed Ron Paul on their network news. I want to be positive and hope Dr. Paul will now be covered as the sanctioned candidates have been covered.
However, I think with Dr. Paul now getting some serious money the MSM will transition from ignoring and denial to the next phase of condeming, labeling, making jokes, denigrating, outright lying, etc.
ABC News, I hope I am wrong but I am not holding my breath.

Thanks to ABC for some good reporting! Dr. Paul’s common sense approach, his backbone of steel, heart of gold and unshakeable integrity stand far above the business-as-usual Rudy McRomney’s and Hillarbamas. The only one close in my estimation is Dennis Kucinich, IMHO that seemingly wacky ticket(Paul-Kucinich) would be a landslide. Enough’s enough. Time for some real change.

This is a real jaw-dropping piece on Dr. Ron Paul 2008 campaign in a long time. We the people owe you a big thank you. Please, keep sending your reporters after Ron Paul’s “insurgent campaign.” It is time for the MSM to wake up and realize that your total control of news manipulation and distribution are being challenged. The insurgent campaign will eventually morph into the Ron Paul rEVOLution freight train smashing and shattering every MSM censorship barrier and bursting on the national and international news outlets.
By judging the hundred plus comments on this page, you would see the overwhelming support for Ron Paul’s platforms. We the people are well aware of the paid mouthpieces of all the so called “conservative political pundits” that keep on repeating the party line approved issues. Please stop dishing out your rigged and fabricated national poll numbers. We all are aware of your agendas and are not fooled by those opinion manipulation.

After over a decade of being a registered Republican, I finally became so disgusted with the party (and particulary Mr. “Quick, someone give me another spending bill to sign” Bush) that I went down and changed my registration.
Not to the Democratic Party mind you, that would have led to irrefutable proof of spontaneous human combustion. Besides, if I wanted to vote socialist, I’d have just stayed with the RINO party. Instead I just registered undeclared – because there was no box to check for “Completely fed-up”.
Now, along comes Dr. Paul, and I have to go back down there and re-register Republican all over again!
I’ve already maxed my contribution, so I guess it’s time to start getting some literature out there. I think I might have made at least one convert today (Yay!)
I cannot believe that we might finally have a REAL choice for Constitutional Government again!! I thought things were going to have to get a whole lot worse in this great nation before we ever got this opportunity.
Go Ron Paul!!!

To learn more about Ron Paul Google Ron Paule. There is basically one message that serves as the foundation of all of his stances on issues: a return to the ideals of the Constitution is the best way to bring America back to its traditional respected position in the world.
Abolish the IRS
When Paul says he would abolish the IRS, it’s not because he doesn’t believe in taxes. He doesn’t believe in the government taxing your income before it’s in your hands. There will still be taxes (sales tax, or import tax) to fund the much smaller government. What you make would be yours. If you make $30,000 you get $30,000.
Abolish Dept of Education
Paul obviously doesn’t mean that he opposes Education when he says that he would abolish the Dept. of Education. He simply means that he does not believe that the Federal (national) government should be attempting to control the Education of our children. It should be up to the States just like it has always been, and this is what Paul would attempt to restore as President.
Abortion
Yes, Paul personally is opposed to abortion. However, to the Democrats and Independents out there who fear Paul forcing his abortion stance on the rest of America – fear not. Two things: one, with a Democratic Congress the issue of abortion remaining an option is safe. More importantly, though, is Ron Paul’s guiding principle. He does not believe in big government so he does not believe that the national government should restrict the lives of the people. If the abortion issue arose, he would not outlaw it across the country like many other Republican candidates possibly would; he would simply make the decision up to the States, so that those states that are mostly against abortion do not have to allow it, and those states mostly for it can allow it.
Education yourself and education your friends.

Go Ron Paul! I’m 18 and when I registered to vote (5 days after I turned 18 on June 15) I already new who I was going to vote for in 08. I have been following Ron Paul’s voting record since I was 15. He is the only man who practices what he preaches.

How is Paul’s support for the 2nd Amendment (along with other cornerstones of the US Constitution) going to hurt him with the GOP base? The GOP base is THE source of support for the 2nd amendment.

Ron Paul is a tool. His lack of support for national security will kill his campaign, because Americans know better.
Now, if Thompson would just start campaigning, we could have a viable candidate here!

Donating to the Ron Paul campaign was the first time I have ever donated to any political campaign. If I could donate more than $2,300, I would! Ron Paul is this country’s only hope!

“His lack of support for national security will kill his campaign, because Americans know better.”
The best thing for national security is TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST and improve our border security.
We just stuck our hand in a wasp’s nest, you really think we will be more secure if we stick it in deeper?

I thought in America candidates were elected by the people, not a few “GOP elites.” America wants Ron Paul.

The Ron Paul campaign said that the average donation size was only $40. If that’s true, then they had 127,000 donations last quarter. That’s definitely significant, but it also shows a great opportunity for growth in the future.

Christian Conservatives Threaten Third Party If Giuliani Wins GOP Nomination
Well, looks like you’ve convinced me to vote for Giuliani.

Looking for a brain, a heart, and courage? Never mind the scarecrow, the tinman, and the cowardly lion in Republican politics. You needn’t look any further than Congressman Ron Paul to get all three in one candidate.
Obviously, Dr. Paul is the only one who can beat Hillary, because he is, and always has been, against the war, as are more than 70% of the American people. She is only against it when it is expedient to be so, and she is unwilling to take the nukes off the table with regard to Iran.
Furthermore, she and the other major Democratic candidates will not say that they will have all troops out of Iraq by 2013. – The Wiz, voting for Ron Paul 2008

Maybe if Ron Paul wins, we wont need to use the second ammendment to keep the second ammendment, and we wont need an armed revolt to get rid of all the fascists/globalists/socialists. But then again, we should do it anyway, so the treasonists can hang.

“no small sum for an insurgent campaign”
kind of revealing injection of subliminal
terminology. What do the Disney controllers of ABC have against Ron Paul?

Keep up all of the good work everyone. This “grassroots” effort WILL SUCCEED. Dr. Paul needs to start getting MORE press time. These organizations can no longer ignore him. GO RON PAUL!!!!

Thank you ABC news, and your CIA handlers, for informing me that Ron Paul’s campaign is “insurgent.” Does that mean he is fighting against dumbya and darth in Iraq? Does it mean he is a “terrorist?”
There is no doubt that Ron Paul will win the Repub nomination — if the primary votes are counted, and he is not murdered by the thugs running the country at present.
We live in interesting and dangerous times.

I just registered as a Republican, just to vote for Ron Paul in the Primaries. I think that Ron’s followers aren’t being taken seriously because they are scared he will pull out the victory. Let’s change this country and return it to how Ben Franklin helped shape it into. Go Ron!!!

I’ve said for a long time that the American people despite what the news media tries to cover up are not idiots. They know that they are being poorly served by the Republican and Democract parties and are sick of the lies, distortions and theft of this country. Ron Paul is a man who has kept his word on supporting small government and individual freedom. He would be at home with the real American patriots like Jefferson, Washington and Madison who believed that the welfare of this country came first and the Neo-cons just can’t stand that. I support Ron Paul and as his message gets heard more and more by the average American they will support him too. GOD bless Ron Paul and may he be the next President of the United States!

I’ve been a registered Democrat since I first became eligible to vote in 1972. I will soon be changing my registration to Republican for the specific purpose of voting for Ron Paul in the presidential preference primary. Let’s all come together and elect him.

The media, like ABC, is controlled by the CFR which is controlled by the Rockefellers who is controlled by the Rothchilds. The Rothchilds also control the Fedral Reserve. The GOP is trying to derail his nomination by changing the rules regarding nominations & pushing up the dates the state nominations. They would rather lose the election than get Paul elected, who would certainly defeat any Democrat. Paul would change the government to a constitutional one & they elites don’t like that. Get the word out. Go to the link for the story.

Ron Paul is the future of the GOP. The CFR “front runners” are rightfully fading as people increasingly see that they offer nothing new. Go to a Ron Paul appearance and see/hear/feel the difference! A 10-term record of voting for the Constitution is a powerful testimony; 50 years of marriage to Carol is another. Those are only 2 of many.

Patriotic Americans from all walks of life and political persuasions are like an AWAKENING SLEEPING GIANT. We see things as they really are, and hold fast to our dreams of how things should and can be again. We are focused, certain and determined. We WILL reclaim our Nation, our pride and promise. Many Americans are quietly researching ALL of the candidates, much more thoroughly than in the past. We don’t want to make another mistake. We cannot afford to make another mistake. The ’08 election is the most important one of my lifetime (I am 54 years old). I am a Democrat. I am going to register as a Republican and vote for Ron Paul.

This must be driving the Wall Street Journal crazy. They probably want to do another hit piece on him on their editorial page but that would mean that they would have to cut another Joe Lieberman editorial. What a conundrum they are in.

Thank ABC for reporting on Ron Paul.
I never donated to candidates in the past, they have never stood for what I wanted in my government. I have always voted for the candidate that I thought was best, sometimes this felt like a lost cause. Since they are usually independant and only getting 1 or 2% of the popular vote. It is nice to see a real republican running and one that can change our messed up rotten government finally getting ahead I did donate this time, and if I had more I would give more.
ABC Please keep up the fair reporting, I may watch more.

Ron Paul deserves to be recognized by the media. We, the People, deserved something better than the Bushes and Clintons. We’re tired of the treason against the U.S. Constitition.
Come on America? Change parties and vote for Ron Paul. Make yard signs.
The only thing, it wasn’t really a tea party. Check out the true history. Find out what was really dumped overboard.
