Romney Trailing Giuliani in Money Raised
ABC News’ Matt Stuart Reports: Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign filed their third quarter financial report with the FEC today showing $44 million dollars raised so far this year, falling just behind Giuliani in overall GOP fundraising.
Romney started with $12 million dollars this quarter and raised 10 million. Romney’s 8.5 million dollar loan this quarter nearly doubles the amount he has given to his campaign. He ended the quarter with just over $9 million in cash on hand. Romney has received considerable scruitiny for donations to his own campaign.
Romney’s expenditures more than doubled his donations in the third quarter, totalling over $21 million dollars. Romney spent almost $6 million dollars on advertising this quarter, as well as $50,000 on deliveries at Fed Ex, $4,000 in flowers and decorations, and $5,730 dollars in "campaign promotional materials" from Vineyard Vines, the popular, preppy clothing line.
