Barbara Streisand Urges Clinton Supporters to Open Wallets

ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: After music icon and actress Barbara Streisand declared her support for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., Tuesday, the Clinton campaign emailed supporters a letter from Streisand asking for money.

"In all the time I have worked to help elect Democrats, I have never wanted to win an election as badly as this one," the letter reads.

Streisand has been a close friend of the Clinton’s, dating back to the days when former President Bill Clinton was in office and she would stay in the Lincoln bedroom.

A longtime supporter of the Clinton’s, Streisand’s endorsement may not come as a surprise to many.

But her backing comes as talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey prepares to campaign for Clinton’s rival — Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

We have plumbers, electricians, teachers, preachers, TV peersonalities all with opinions on who they would like to see as the next President, so I am delighted to see a well informed, cultured woman like Ms. Streisand take her stand for the person whom she believes will best lead us. Ain’t America politics almost great.
