Cheney Found to Have Irregular Heartbeat
ABC News’ Jennifer Duck Reports: After a doctor’s visit this morning to check up on a lingering cough from a cold, Vice President Dick Cheney was found to have an irregular heartbeat.
"During examination he was incidentally found to have an irregular heartbeat, which on further testing was determined to be atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart," said Cheney spokesperson Megan Mitchell in a statement released on Monday.
The Vice President visited George Washington University Hospital in the afternoon for further evaluation and doctors used an electrical impulse to restore the upper chambers of Cheney’s heart to normal rhythm,
The White House said in a statement that the treatment went smoothly and that Cheney will resume his normal schedule on Tuesday.

I’m a liberal and darned proud of it. But that doesn’t mean I wish harm to the Vice President or his family. I wish him a speedy recovery and for peace and calm for his family during this time of medical uncertainty.

Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican. Conservative or Liberal. He is our Vice President (President of the U.S. Senate), wish him well if not for the fact that he is the infamous Dick Chaney, then for the fact that he is a human being.

Lighten up people! It is an irregular heartbeat. It effects a lot people, even people without a long history of heart problems. My aunt has one, has for about 10 years. Can you send your thoughts and prayer to her?
notafan, do you think the wizard can give Bush a brain?

I hope is is well enough to serve a long healthy jail term. I hope he has better medical coverage than most Americans. Guess he doesn’t have to worry too much about paying bills since he is on the government dole just like Halliburton.

My hope is that Mr. Cheney recovers – fully. I disagree – greatly – with the man’s politics, but health wise – do wish him well. My hope would only be that when a human is faced with mortality, he/she tends to view life differently. Perhaps this man will see that several issues he considers important are really unimportant and that something as simple as a step forward and accept his gay daughter publically; not discriminating against her life-choice, will do so much good for so many people in the United States. As much as many will hate to admit, a conservative like Mr. Cheney accepting his gay daughter publically, would stem so much hatred! Many Angry Christian men would see love, especially the love of a child, should never, never be compromised.

Oh yes real republican and ugh, we are soo very horrible because we’re joking about Cheney’s irregular heartbeat. I suppose you both voted for Bush/Cheney twice. The second time knowing you were voting for a fascist ticket. Who’s sick, sick, sick?!
Posted by: hakori | November 26, 2007, 4:48 pm 4:48 pm
This is going to sound cold-hearted and I don’t mean it that way, but why is this such an issue? My husband has an irregular heartbeat and it needed treatment, passed out at work, was off work for a month, started taking medication and has been fine for the past 5 years, except for the occurrence of even more heart related troubles. Loads of American Citizens have heart related trouble, especially men of any advanced age! Politicians are celebrities and I really get tired of being privy to all their private things. And, please, don’t tell me to not read it….you can’t help but see the story when you scan the headlines and it’s not like he was in critcal condition…he just has some testing and may need some minor work done!

Ahhhhh!! He actually has a heart! And there happen to be a lot of men his age who also have irregular heart beats; but probably not the same healthcare.
Do ya think, he is going to resign and let someone else (heir apparent maybe??) sit in his seat for a year.

We all have heart problems today. I have a sad heart watching my 3 college age children try to afford tuition and room and board. My salary is hardly enough to pay all of my bills much less help them. People aren’t vindictive or mean-spirited, they just need to tell it like it is. Cheney has brought destruction and injury to so many people in so many ways from the corporate greed of Halliburton and Enron to his Napoleonic complex and the need to prove himself a man by going to war. Speaking out aginst this kind of human evil is a must in order to change direction and not end up worse off than we are now. MC Evans

What can I say that hasn’t been said? I do not wish ill on anyone and I hope he gets better. With that said, I can’t help but wonder about the millions of others without health insurance who have a similar problem but no way to get help. I hope that Mr. Cheney will think of those as he gets better. (He probably won’t – sad but true.)

You gutless, heartless libs….for such a group that is so concerned about humanity and to hold hands singing “Kumbaya” with your neighbors, you sure can spit nails at anyone that doesn’t agree with your politics. You’ve showed your real faces in this blog.
Posted by: cbeargal | November 26, 2007, 6:19 pm 6:19 pm
I don’t sing ‘Kumbaya’ and not agreeing with someone’s politics is not the issue–bad economic policies kill people in all kinds of ways. Lying to the American people is criminal and not a disagreement. People were afraid to speak out against all kinds of corrupt leaders in the past and look where it got them. Call us “gutless and heartless”, call us anything you want. It doesn’t change the truth, it doesn’t change the facts and it doesn’t change the downward spiral of this country since bush and cheney came into office. mc evans

Why do Rightwingers think it’s ok to be mean, heartless, and smear everyone they disagree with? They claim they’re “good” Christians, but they support,greed,hate,bigotry,self-centeredness,corruption,warmongering etc. Dick Cheney is the posterboy for all these evil things, and is the most evil politician who ever lived. I can’t think of one good thing to say about this truly evil, greedy, gutless person.

hating someone wont get you anywhere friends . i dislike the man and his political identity but he is a man like you and i,frail and finite and deserves more than the hateful vitriolic words that are tossed around much too flippantly in this “discussion” (more like a cheney roast …).
compassion and empathy are words that need to be put in to practical use more often today , please think how his family must feel? how he must be feeling? how would you feel? i bet you ALL would be scared ,at least somewhat.
who said ” every mans death diminisheth me” ? this thought (i believe) was meant to pertain to ALL men ,even bad ones . a bad man can always possibly change and become a good man. ever see that story about the grinch…?
anyway, i dont believe either dick cheney or gw bush are inherently bad people in the first place ,they are just misguided and inept, among other things but i still dont wish bad on them .
i dont agree with them ,but that is no basis to hate someone or wish ill upon them ,imho.

I don’t agree with him but he’s human.” (Winecanda) and “I do not wish ill on anyone and I hope he gets better.” (JustMe). These are three examples of people who do not agree with Bush, but are civil and wish the man well during this episode.
Unfortunately CbearCal shows their true colors by ignoring these comments. Obviously, CbearCal see’s only what they want to see. Theme thar blinders you’re wearing have to come off. You do not speak for all Republicans and a few bad comments reflect the opinions of all liberals. CBearCal, if your reasoning abilities apply to all Republicans, I’d be concerned for the longevity of the GOP.

I hope he recovers also.
So we can impeach him!
This man is guilty of treason and crimes against humanity! Nothing less and if we find him guilty then we can find Bush guilty and even if we cant get Bush we can get ahold of Rice,Rumsfeld,Powell, and many many others that were either too complacent or too entangled financially or legally to speak out about 911!!!
DONT FORGET AMERICA DONT YOU DARE FORGET 3,000 PEOPLE DIED ON 911 AND WE WERE TOLD OSAMA BIN LADEN TOOK THOSE LIVES AND YET 6 YEARS LATER HE IS STILL NOT LISTED AS A SUSPECT BY THE FBI!!!
DONT FORGET THAT EVERYDAY YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN ARE DYING IN COUNTRIES FAR AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES!!!! BECAUSE THIS MAN AND HIS FRIENDS LIED TO US!!! They tell us 3,000 have died overseas when it is actually more like 11,000. That means that our troops are dying at a much higher rate than they did during vietnam!

I have read the comments here, and as a Democrat, some made me laugh, and others made me sigh with annoyance.
To be honest, I believe what some are posting here: Cheney is indeed human, with, believe it or not, a heart. *gasp* Yes, a heart, and yes, it actually functions. Whether it is used is another matter.
But I digress.
There is nothing wrong with wishing the VP well; it’s only natural for humans to feel sorry for one another.
Why IS this news? Hasn’t he had the problem for awhile?
