Clinton: Bring Your Mops, Vacuum Cleaners and Brushes

ABC News’ Eloise Harper reports: Not only is Senator Clinton comfortable in the kitchen, she wants you  to bring your mops, vacuum cleaners and brushes when she gets to the White House.

Clinton speaking in West Burlington, IA, told a story about how she is going to clean up the White House.  Telling it,  Clinton rested her hand on her head and said "oh my goodness I feel like we are going to get into the White House again and we are going to walk around and say where do we start to clean up this mess?" Clinton remembered an audience member who shouted once out when she told this story before -  "that’s what women are good at cleaning up the mess." Clinton said "bring your vacum cleaners bring your brushes bring your brooms bring your mops."

The Senator from New York said she is "excited to be the first woman president," and that the campaign has started tracking the women in their 90′s who come to her campaign events "there’s a lot of them."

Senator Clinton, whose campaign was critisized for playing up her gender, and for trying to make the point that the recent debate was a six men vs one woman match-up, has no problem speaking to the women in her audience on the trail in Iowa.

Clinton told a story about a New York soap-maker who she had connected with ebay. She explained that Oprah ordered 40,000 dollars worth of soap. The woman "recruited everybody in her family her friends her church they were all at her house for weeks you know stirring and pouring into molds."

Clinton spoke to the women and men in Iowa about various issues from the war in Iraq to Healthcare. One thing Clinton did not think we should be talking about is the recent debate.  "I’m going to keep running a positive campaign because I think what we need to be talking about is what we are going to do on day one in the White House not what we are going do on a debate stage somewhere."

This woman doesn’t have a clue.
She doesn’t care about cleaning anything, she just cares about having the power, she has no real answers, or truthful answers to any questions about serious issues concerning our great country. She is trying to pull a socialist sham and a scam over the American people.

I would love to know the last time she EVER picked up a mop or dust rag.
Don’t go away mad, just go away!

When Clinton fails to prevail on the issues, she falls back on her gender. She couldn’t answer simple questions in last week’s debate, so she goes before a friendly female audience and promises she’ll “clean up” the Whitehouse with her mop and broom. The last time she occupied the Whitehouse, things got pretty dirty in there: Bill’s sex addiction; Vince Foster’s suicide; the Rose Law Firm billing records, among other embarassments.

The only thing the Clinton’s are good at is cleaning out places. I wonder if she would bring back all the things they stole if she won? Then again, those things can be replaced but America’s soul can’t so let’s keep her out of the White House!

Hillary will clean up the White House using products made in China. Then she’ll invite the Chinese for tea, and have the Chinese generals sleep over in the Lincoln-Mao Bedroom.

Hillary’s “plagiraized” remark about bringing your mops is actually from George W. Bush’s statement before he entered the White House after 8 years of the Clintons disgusting residency. In an off cuff remark “W” was referring to Hillary’s “HUSBAND”, Bill the pervert sexual exploits in the White House. Who needs 4 more years of that disgusting behaviour? These people are TRASH!

The Senator from New York said she is “excited to be the first woman president,” Very Conceded by this democratic potential candinate, and I would like to re-iterate the word POTENTIAL. I am not imposed of the notion of a Women President, one of my favorite leaders of all-time is a women (Margret Thatcher). But I am opposed of an anti-military, pro-spending politicians. Our country is closing in on a 10 trillion dollar federal deficit, mostly held by China. Clinton is not the answer.

Hillary needs to clean out her mind–she should stick to being the missing senator from New York and join her discarded”friend” Hsu in a jail cell somewhere in Colorado. Perhaps she could organize her cellmates who are of like mind. Cheat lie steal and kill to get ahead.

Hillary should be ashamed of talking about cleaning the White house. .Remember it was the rug in the oval office that had to be cleaned after BILL Clinton and Monica.

I think Hill has a harder climb to the presidency then she thinks. I wouldn’t vote for her if you put a gun to my head, and if she thinks this past debate was bad, I cannot wait to see her in the general election debates. Thats when the mop will be needed, to wipe her off the floor.

Her comments are again silly but placate her base and actually say nothing. Do her comments remind you of Chavez, the dictator of Venezuela, at the U.N. Apt that Clinton would borrow from such trash.

Dear ABC- even in America this is a misspelling:
“Senator Clinton, whose campaign was critisized for playing up her gender”

Posted by: John Bull | November 5, 2007, 8:36 am 8:36 am

As a woman, and an educated one at tha, from Cali, I will NEVER EVER vote for this “woman”. I have 4 sisters and not one will vote for her either. We can’t stand this lying commie. Of course all her crooed donnors are Chinese commies, she is one of them, a commie through and through. All I know is, release all the records from BJ’s presidency re” hill, allow Sandy Burglar to take the lie detectro test about the docs he “accidetally” stuffed down his pants, and while we are at it, WILL YOU Hill take a lie detector test about the Chinese donors, white water, your rose law firm billing recrds campaign donations to BJ’s campaign y Oxidental Petrolium, Vince Foster, your sexuality, your tre agenda? I doubt it. THis woman will say NO to you and I know many others will too. Adios panderer. No amountof illegal voters will get you elected.

Wow, I was ready to write off Hills comments as the standard barf we hear from all pols on the campaign trail and let it go at that. Both dems and repubs constantly make silly statements like these, and they are treated like water off a ducks back. Normally the dems support the dems when the make silly statements, and same for the repubs. But that does not seem to be the case here. Not a single post supporting Hill. Looks like the worm has turned.

Hillary has one skill; and that is being the enforcer who has kept Bill’s bimbos quiet and in check. The sad part of Hillary’s quest for the presidency is that Bill has had to stop dating again. Those who loved Nixon’s enemys list will surely love the Hillary presidency.

Posted by: Jim M | November 5, 2007, 8:56 am 8:56 am

Not a single woman I know, republican, democrat or independant would vote for Hilary. I don’t know who this supposed female base is?

I seem to recall Hillery’s past comments about how she never spent much time cooking because she “decided to do something with my life rather than spend it baking cookies.” She is a shameless fraud and liar and the people today are so stupid that they will buy her line and millions of single women who have never voted before will register and vote for her simply because of her gender.

I don’t want to add to all the mud slinging. All I want to know is how Hillary expects to be able to play both sides of the gender issue. One one side she is proud to be considered as our nation’s first truly legitimate contender for the White House. She is ready to show she can play tough and make the hard decisions necessary to govern the country. She wants voters to see her as confident and compotent. But when the male democratic contenders start to assail her as the front-runner then she hoists the flag of gender-discrimination and play the poor victim of their mean-spirited attacks.
No, she cannot be allowed to have it both ways. I wish the media would hold her to task. If she is strong enough to be president she should be strong enough to endure a spirited debate leading up to the primaries.
I am personally afriad of her presidency. She changes her opinion on issues too quickly, much the same way Bill did. I don’t want a President that needs to take a poll on a subject to know what to do. I want vision and conviction that can lead us forward. The next president will have his/her hands full domesitcally and overseas. I am hoping that the Congress and White House will not be under one party’s leadership. I think that scenario has almost always proven disasterous for our country. We need checks and balances.
Hillary, either stand up and run hard on your convictions convincing us that your vision for the USA is best or sit down and quietly assume the life of someone who used to be important. Tell us who you are and what you believe to be the best course for our country. Right now you just seemt to confused, disoriented, and weak and these characteristics have NOTHING to do with your being a woman.

It is difficult to understand where many of the critics of Hillary are coming from. The last I checked this country was fiscally sound, in fact with a surplus, during the last Clinton administration and business was good, as were foreign relations. Now, we have the polar opposite, swimming in debts, a swooning dollar, and foreign relations around the world that have been reduced to ashes. Put on your thinking cap before you spout off with negative comparisons about another Clinton in the White House in contrast to what we now have. Your comments are childish and radically misinformed.

If anyone has any doubt that Hillary is a socialist, all you need to do is Google “Hillary Clinton and Saul Alinsky”. Saul Alinsky is Senator Clinton’s hero and role model. He has written a couple of books on the subject of overthrowing American democracy. Good reading if you’re into horror stories.

Anyone who cares about America should watch Hannity’s America on Sunday nights, especially 2 weeks from now. Then Americans should give her mop and brooms and stuff like that so she can join her poor donors in china town who gave her half of their yearly salaries to her campaign because she did so much during 9-11!!! What did Hillary do during 9-11, all we heard was Rudy and President Bush and the firefighters!!

FACT: The Clintons literally stole and vandalized the White House. They had to return items and were fined thousands of dollars in damages. Vandals. Whatever Hillary says, the truth is always 180

Posted by: Robert | November 5, 2007, 9:41 am 9:41 am

Did ABC News’ Eloise Harper even grasp the irony of Senator Clinton’s comment about cleaning up the White House as she typed those very words?
Is there no end to liberal media bias?
Ms. Harper was seriously remiss in her duties as a reporter as she failed to point out that the current Bush administration made similar comments.
I suspect that the omission was intentional as part of Ms. Harper’s biased efforts to portray Senator Clinton as some sort of reformer and portray the Bush Administration as “not clean.”
President Clinton’s personal dalliances aside, his administration failed to address the threat from al Qaeda and he receives a pass from the media. President Clinton’s unresolved messes resulted in the September 11 Terror Attacks. Cleaning up the messes from President Clinton’s administration has required a significant military response – one pound of cure instead of the one once of prevention President Clinton should have applied.
If Senator Clinton wants to clean-up anything, she should feel free to travel to Ground Zero and pick up some cleaning tools. I think there are still some blood stains on some of the sidewalks.

The only people who vote for this harridan would be the super rich who can send their money out of the country, can buy good health care, and like to get the “feel good” of supporting the children! The other group is the poor, who don’t pay any taxes and get all of the benefits, regardless. I can’t imagine anyone in the middle-class voting for this horrid person. These comments are just pathetic. I’m not a Hillary supporter, but I think at least 2/3 of the authors of comments here need to wipe the foam from their mouths. The personal attacks on her and Bill are disgusting.
Personally, I think Barack Obama provides the change we need after 7 dismal years under Bush. He’s got the political courage, judgment, and ethics to make the right decisions at difficult times, based not on polls but on principle.
That being said, the debate should be about candidates’ leadership qualities, their records, and their plan for the future, not some petty personal attacks. Otherwise, we’ll deserve the government we get (just like we have since 2004…) Move away from the radical right talking points. Quit trying to pretend that anyone is “socialist.” It’s frankly just not true. Start thinking for yourselves, before you drag the country down with your anger, hatred, and negativity.

Hilda is not tough she is hard. There is a big different. She comes from an amoral center and does not have the character to really tell anyone what she really thinks.
She has nothing but contempt for people. People to her are useful to be discarded when they have been used up. She attacks people and then whines when they fight back.
She refuses to answer questions like she was the Queen or something and it was impertinent for people to ask her anything.
What a dispicable person she is.

I can’t speak for others, but as one critic of Hillary, I would like to explain my views.
To directly address your quote below, I offer these points.
1. It is very easy to balance the budget when you slash military spending to the bone and degrade our military capabilities. Our ability to respond was greatly reduced and the morale of the military was low when President Clinton left office.
2. Business was good – fueled by an over-heated stock market which corrected prior to President Clinton’s departure.
3. As for foreign relations, do we want to be loved by the French or do we want to be safe? Actually, the French seem to have recently awakened from their appeasement slumber and appear to be heading in a different direction.
Also related to foreign relations, President Clinton’s weak and ineffective responses to al Qaeda, throughout the eight years he served in office, represent a huge blotch on his record. The President and First Lady entered office as anti-war / anti-military people and this significantly affected their responses to al Qaeda (as well as their ability to conduct foreign policy in general). This is the issue that should not go away. This is the issue that must be raised repeatedly from now until Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
The fence swings both ways. The previous Clinton Administration gave us “two for the price of one.” The other half of the equation must be held accountable.

The vitriol reserved for Clinton is so fierce on this board that it makes me certain that her negative numbers are not based on reality, but on long-standing hatred based purely in the selective memory of reflexive anti-Clinton zealots. The more people get to know her, the more they like her. Most of the negative comments are thinly veiled sexism anyway. Go Hillary. You’re better than your critics.

Seems hilda didn’t want the military to have their uniforms on in her white house before. How could anyone in the military ever follow someone who hates them as much as she does? I would imagine that there would be a lot of resignations in the military if she ever took over the helm. Though that would be fine with her since she would gut the military anyway.
If you doubt that she ran the country with her perverted hubby, just remember she took over the west wing and the VP had to find an office some place else. She took over the health care and she fired and went after innocent people in the travel office so her buddies could take over.
What a piece of work she is.

If this country elects Hillary, we have done more damage to ourselves than we may ever be able to undo. I beleive it is already at that point with the moral decay Bill has instilled. Barack Obama is not the answer, TarHeel. They both are pushing the country towards socialism. You squeal about the use of that word, but it fits the Democrats perfectly. Definition: “An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity.” Does this not sound like Hillary’s comments on “taking things away from us for the better good” and her comments about taking the profits of the oil companies? If there are people here that are passionate about their dislike of Hillary, it is because of the hateful things SHE has said. One example is the disgusting way she treated General Patreaus. Democrats don’t want to win the war, they are desperate to LOSE it. They hate all that is great about America and the only thing they love is their own power.

I want to appeal to all of my fellow conservatives posting comments here. Please, refrain from name calling, derogatory the use of nicknames and obscenities. Please stick to the facts and take the High Road. Leave the name calling, ad hominem attacks and other vitriol to the unhinged Leftists.
When placed in the harsh light of impartial scrutiny, it should be clear to (non-acolyte) readers that Senator Clinton would not be capable of adequately defending our country. At the very least, it should raise questions.
If Senator Clinton becomes president, the clock would be rolled-back to Neville Chamberlain-style foreign policy, which would strike a well-received cord in Hollywood, but would leave us vulnerable yet again.

We must not make the mistake again of letting anyone who is against national defense run the nation.

Hillary clinton has had servants since her days in arkansas to do all the cleaning, she has never had to do a thing she didnt want to, she had arkansas state troopers to drive her kid to and from school, and pick up flowers for pee wee, aka slick willy. this broad has been on the goverment tit all her life. When they were being investigated for their real estate schemes in arkansas she cried her poor husband never made more than $35,000 a year, a lawyer and a rhodes scholar, sad. She whined they never owned a home, of course they lived free off the tax payers, and since leaving the white house, and stealing a lot of furniture on their way out the door, they have become filthy rich, worth over 25,000,000, how, I guess she should thank Pres Bush and his economic policies. Bill and hill wont shut up about how rich they are, rich with no class, send this bitch back to arkansa, or where ever she crawled out from, and him too

Oh, let’s see. We rely on FACTs, not made up snarkiness to express our opinions. The trashing of the White House was an urban myth which you righties perpetuate. The downsizing of the military was started by Poppy Bush and Cheney, not Clinton. People who do meet Hillary personally, REALLY, REALLY do find her warm and charming. Oh, and her husband did not lie about WMD’s resulting in the deaths of almost 4000 our troops. What a success that war is!

As much as I dislike Hillary, the comments here are mostly ignorant, hateful and obnoxious.
I’m guessing most of you don’t have a clue of the issues or you wouldn’t resort to incredibly stupid personal attacks.
And the comments about Bill’s semen stains are ridiculous, considering he left the country in good shape (maybe not his marriage, but who cares?), with a surplus and we were respected in the world. The comment that he did nothing after the attacks in Africa (he did and was roundly attacked by people who claimed he was trying to take the attention off of the Monica scandal (while they continued to put the spotlight ON it and forget everything else.
Truth is, I’d rather have a President who does a good job and leaves a few semen stains than one who stains the whole country in blood.
None of which has anything to do with Hillary or her campaign or her inablity to be straightforward or honest. Which is exactly my point.
So, to you nasty foaming at the mouth partisans on each side, please Stop acting like partisan ninnies and start acting like Americans who deserve the right to vote. You’re an embarrassment to this country and yourselves.

to raging moderate – Clinton did NOT leave the country in great shape. This country had already started losing jobs prior to President Bush being elected. The so-called surplus was a BUDGET surplus. Big deal. Anybody can make up a budget with a surplus. Doesn’t matter – what counts is the revenue and actual expenses. The only way Bill wanted to save our great country money was by cutting the military.

To the ABC genius blogger…Hillary is NOT the “first woman President” stated above. 1) She has not been elected. 2) There have been several women who have run for the office. 1884 Belva Lockwood, the first woman admitted to practice law before the U.S Supreme Court, ran for president on the Equal Rights Party Ticket; she did so again in 1888.
1964 Senator Margaret Chase Smith, a Maine Republican, was nominated for the presidency by Vermont Senator George Aiken at the Republican national convention. Smith had campaigned briefly for the post, limiting herself to periods when the Senate was not in session. Elected to the House of Representatives in 1940 (to replace her dying husband) and the Senate in 1948, Smith had already made history by becoming the first woman to serve in both houses of Congress.
1972 Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm ran for president in the Democratic primaries. At the party’s national convention, she garnered 151.25 delegate votes before Senator George McGovern clinched the nomination.
1984 Third-term Congresswoman Geraldine A. Ferraro (D-NY), secretary of the House Democratic Caucus, and a reputed NY mobsters’ wife became the first woman ever to run on a major party’s national ticket when she was selected by Walter F. Mondale as his Vice Presidential running mate.
We do not expect accuracy from the Media as they have an agenda but the internet is a great solution so that actual facts can be reported.

And why not ask Dirty Harry Reid (among other Dems) about Jsck Abramoff? Let’s see…expand SCHIP to 25 year olds and 60k to 80k per annum families that ALREADY HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?? Not a good idea…unless you are a socialist! If you think Abu Ghraib was torture, what do you call listening to Hillary’s nerve-tingling forced cackle? Waterboarding ISLAMIC TERRORISTS to save thousands of American lives? ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT!!! So you support artifical prices in the marketplace regardless of whether supply is affected? Try finding a gallon of gas or milk if the govt. orders prices to be lower. (Again, moronic socialist, unrealistic thinking!) New Orleans was a cesspool with an incompetent mayor and even far less competent Governor that was struck by a natural disaster, Period. Alberto Gonzales did a good job as AG but the left wing anti-American faction needed someone to pick on. Scooter Libby didn’t disclose ANY classifed information. He was a victim of the left wing witch hunt for a crime that was never committed! I could go on and on. It isn’t worth it. You left wing nuts will never grow up. What a shame.

Transcript Clinton address to the congress Dec 1998
Earlier today, I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.
Six weeks ago, Saddam Hussein announced that he would no longer cooperate with the United Nations weapons inspectors called UNSCOM. They are highly professional experts from dozens of countries. Their job is to oversee the elimination of Iraq’s capability to retain, create and use weapons of mass destruction, and to verify that Iraq does not attempt to rebuild that capability.
The inspectors undertook this mission first 7.5 years ago at the end of the Gulf War when Iraq agreed to declare and destroy its arsenal as a condition of the ceasefire.
The international community had good reason to set this requirement. Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq.
The international community had little doubt then, and I have no doubt today, that left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again.

Having been married to an American lady and travelling your country, I used to admire what I found in cities and towns I visited. I hope I never meet any of the rude, heartless people who have posted on this website. Hillary may not be perfect, but many Canadians (looking and reading from the outside, something we do a lot of) suspect she would do a hell of a lot better job than the war-monger you play “Hail to the chief” for right now. Have you noticed how valueless your dollar is right now? Seen the write-downs Citigroup is doing ? BILLIONS. Your current president has abandoned your economy, spent hundreds of billions on “WMD” & antiterrorist wars, ignored the environment until everyone else got worried then he paid attention, did a terrible job of helping New Orleans out of their Katrina disaster – in fact couldn’t even ad-lib any genuinely heartfelt words of sorrow for the dead and displaced victims right after it happened. I’m surprised he didn’t show up in California during the fires with a package of marshmallows and a coathanger. America has become the big bully nation telling everyone else in the world what they should do and how they should act on threat of being bombed, and your top government officials have lied and even double-crossed their own people to get what they want. Before you go hammering people like Hillary Clinton or even Barack Obama, you better check out where your country is headed financially and militarily. That might be the scariest wake up call of all for you. You might want to read up on what happened to the Romans 2000 years ago. They tried legislating their ways to others through war too. If you have a better way of doing things and believe you are so smart, why not get up and do something for your country positively instead of just slagging others who are trying. Your forefathers, Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington, even Kennedy, would be ashamed of the places your current government body has taken your country. I feel bad for all the good Americans who strive for higher ideals and a great future for their children. Ok, I’m done. Now you can post about what a bunch of idiots Canadians are. After all, you know so much about us.

Mrs. Clinton thinks she’ll re-occupy the White House? She’s lucky she is not occupying a jail cell for obstruction of justice during some of her alleged husband’s various criminal acts.
Lucky for her, wives can’t be compelled to bear witness against their husbands.
Unfortunately for the American nation, she was not tried in concert with her husband for conspiracy to obstruct justice.

If America elects this person president say good buy to a market driven economy and say hello to socialism in every facet of personal life, and what could be more personal then one’s own health care!! I only hopethat the people of this great nation have enough common sense to see throught all her BS at any speech or debate. People should read about what went on when she was in the white house not as an elected offical but only as a 1st lady and she was going to overhall the way health care was delivered and intrude in peoples lifes in every way because in her mind the, “goverment knows what is best for you”. Al;so look at the details of things like the vince foster death and you don’t come to the conclusion this was a suicide but rather a murder and then look at what has happened to all Clinton opponents over the years they either end up dead or in jail, and we are suppose to believe they don’t have dirt or blood on their hands. On iraq and things lets just look bake and 60++ years after WW2 ended we still have troops in europe so get over it left wingers and all the idiots that but into the drive by media. Iraq needed to be dealt with and at the time the people like hillary and Kerry voted for intervention based on the same info the president had and they came to the same conclusions only to back away later and say get out when it was no longer politically popular. The real question is what does the UN mean after twelve years of sanctions and still no end result that the world could live with and why did the UN as an organization do nothing except collect 2.5% of oil revenues in the food for oil deal. What a sham! Please america don’t believe evrything you read or hear ask questions and come to your own conclusions don’t let the media spoon feed you into their way of thinking.

I can’t speak for other conservatives, but I personally wouldn’t characterize President Bush as “beloved.”
It’s interesting that you and other Leftists chose to focus your laser-like attention to the first eight months of the Bush Administration – which took officer after the shortest electoral transition in history. Yet, that laser-like focus is absent when it comes to attacks, activities and developments during the eight years of the Clinton Administration.
As long as we are on the subject of going after Usama bin Laden (UBL), why don’t you mention the two offers (at least) by the government of the Sudan to deliver UBL to the Clinton Administration? A Democratic Party fund raiser decried those decisions. Okay, let’s toss that out because some on the Left claim that those offers have been “refuted.”
How about when the Clinton Administration had UBL in its gun sites in the Fall of 1998 and all that was required was a nod from President Clinton? Reportedly, National Security Advisor Sandy Berger nearly had a conniption when President Clinton let that opportunity slip by due to his characteristic indecision.
And as long as you want to raise the subject of PDBs, let’s talk about the PDB from Summer 1996 entitled, “Operation Bojinka.” President Clinton failed to act on that PDB.
The list goes on and on.
Reading the Leftist critiques on military action and related subjects is similar to reading American comments on Cricket – there is a vague recognition of the activities taking place, but no real understanding of the situation/game.

This war was not started by Bush, he has managed to fight the war and keep the American economy robust with low unemployment and lower taxes. Even with the rising price of oil and energy America’s economy is stronger then it was under Clinton. The Stock market is at an all time high. He has prevented more terror attacks on the US.

Hey Ahlovethaleft,
Hillary voted for the war based on the WMD argument. Remember the intelligence that told us Iraq had WMDs came from the Clinton admin. Remember when Clinton passed the Iraq Liberation Act which called for regime change in Iraq?
No you have conveniently forgotten all of that, haven’t you. Just like you forgot how Clinton left the country in recession. Just like you forgot how Clinton refused to take Osama bin Laden into custody. You lefties sure have a bad memory.

To Phillip
Being married to an American you are certainly very misinformed or misled. W won the popular vote in 04. He was reelected for a second term. The majority in this country feel he has done a good job and done it with courage. As for Katrina, you can blame the local and state government for that fiasco. Perhaps you should study a little about how our states system works before deciding Bush is a monster. Your remark about roasting marshmellows is disgusting and beneath any debate. And as far as our military they are the finest in the world. A scary wake up call? I hope Canada never has the scary wake up call that we had on 9/11. This was a call that should have been heeded in the 8 years that the Clintonistas were in power. You can go back to your pollyanish stupor and hide your head in the sand. The fanatical Islamists don’t just hate the US, they hate and want to destroy western civilization as we know it, Cnada is not exempt. I for one am glad that we have a military and commander in chief that will not let that happen on their watch. Bush/Cheney in 08…I only wish they could.

Your comments are childish and radically misinformed.”
You are misinformed. Had Clinton taken custody of Osama Bin Laden, when he was offered to him, there might not have been deaths on 9/11, or the need for fighting terrorists now. Clinton, with his finger to the wind, thought he shouldn’t get involved and left all that to the incoming president. Now, despite the war, we have a booming economy, and thanks to Bush tax cuts, the debt will be paid off sooner than estimated. Near perfect employment. What would either Clinton ignore if they got another chance? We don’t want to find out.

She can begin the cleaning by replacing all the “W”s she stole from the keyboards. Or she can clean the Lincoln Bedroom, which is probably dusty seeing that Bush wasn’t renting it out for his personal gain. Or how about the slime trail she leaves as she passes through the halls.

I guess Sandy Berger, the Clinton’s NSC head, was getting a head start when he ‘cleaned out’ top secret documents from the National Archives?
Dick Morris has wisely pointed out that the “Bill Clinton scandals” in the 90′s were really centered on Hillary – from Rose Law Firm to Whitewater to her refusal to let Bill settle with Monica out of court. Hillary’s self-righteous arrogance will do her in again.
New Yorkers may have created this Cult of Personality, but the rest of the country has more sense than to let the mythology of this ‘Chavez in a Pantsuit’ continue to grow.

It takes years for the full effect of an economic policy to be realized. You know that if a Dem gets into the White House, they will take credit for the economy. The same as they blamed Bush for the recession caused by Clinton. But uner Bush’s policy we have seen exceptional growth.

How can she possibly “clean up” any mess? She couldn’t clean up Bill’s messes…just sweep them under the rug. And what about cleaning up the probably illlegal donations being made to her own campaign? Hillary needs to clean her OWN house before trying to do anything else! Also, just because the Democrats are planning on coronating her doesn’t mean the rest of us will. There are three women in my immediate family. None of them (or any of the women I know) will be voting for her…we can’t even stand to listen to her!

It is unbelievable the con job those two Clintons get away with. The last debate got her into trouble because she accidentally let us see the real her.

This blatant grab for sympathy from women voters will fail. Hillary’s “baking cookies” remark made it clear in ’92 she thinks domestic matters like tending to home are beneath her notice. Furthermore, as a Wellesley graduate and a lawyer, I know plenty of professional women more accomplished than Hillary, whose career trajectory was greatly aided by her husband’s extraordinary charisma, not her intellect or character. Women voters won’t be fooled by her attempt to rally us: she should look at women like Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison who are respected by both liberals and conservatives and don’t depend on their husbands’ fame or notoriety or scream sexism when asked about questions on real issues.

Just to illustrate where President William Clinton’s priorities were, I’d like to cite one particularly interesting situation.
On December 29, 1992 (during the transition), al Qaeda attacked the Gold Mohur Hotel in hopes of murdering the 100+ American military personnel that had been staying there. The failed to killed the Americans but two civilians were killed and four tourists wounded.
During the election campaign, James Carville, George Stephanopoulos and others on Team Clinton touted themselves as the Smart Team. They emphasized their belief through such combative catch phrases as “It’s the economy, stupid!”
Certainly, the moment he took office, our Rhode Scholar president and his team of Mensa International members would devise a brilliant response to this attack. After all, the lame duck had all but left the building.
Three days into his administration, President Clinton delivered a message that would strike fear in the hearts of al Qaeda members: he announced his intention to relax the rules regarding gays in the US military.
Now, may Buddha Bless America. I don’t want to see discrimination against anyone – especially against motivated talented people seeking to serve their country. Sparta and Troy reportedly allowed gays in their militaries. As an American of Asian heritage and a Buddhist, I have enjoyed the many freedoms America has to offer.
However, was the best first move to make by any administration? I have my doubts. I feel that it was representative of a pattern of crafting a foreign policy that would be popular in Hollywood. Buddha forbid that you do anything that would cause Bill Maher to criticize you and cause Robert Redford to create a movie attacking you!

cd said “You have NO IDEA what is truly good for the well being of humanity.”
Yes, we all have an excellent idea. We are all normal people who see our country under attack by extremists and the Democrats who don’t care, so we go to war against them and support our military. We see a shill of a woman who wants to be president no matter the cost, and we fight back because we don’t want to lose the country our forefathers gave us. We want to save it for our children and grandchildren. Hillary would gut the economy with her pandering health care and her pandering of illegals & we would lose one of the best health care systems any country ever had. I don’t think she and Bill are done selling our secrets to China, either, so there’s another reason to keep this ‘woman’ out of office. There isn’t enough space on the internet to list all the reasons she should be stopped.

CH Lee,
Excellent point! The Clintons were more concerned with being popular with some lefty group pr another than protecting their country. @Dan: “To all of you “GOPers”…Bill Clinton’s “sexual addiction” is NOTHING compared to the damage done by our war-monger…”
You put the finger on “sexual addiction” in order to paint his critics as “prudes” (thereby gaining points with the Euro-left as well…), when in fact, the problem people had with Bill was that HE LIED WHEN HE DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO. There is nothing illegal about adultery, just like there is nothing illegal about admitting you may have inhaled a joint at a college party in the 1960′s. But he lied nonetheless.
Maybe if Bill wasn’t such a feckless liar, Dubya wouldn’t have had such an easy time of it?
And Chuckall, we don’t believe Canadians are idiots, just pathologically insecure. During the Clinton administration I heard Canadians complain endlessly about the strong dollar (like it was my fault or something!) so please spare me the “everyone loved you before Dubya came along” B.S. (Bill was run out of Greece by anti-American protests as I recall).
As for the “falling dollar”, note how it hasn’t hurt the US economy? That’s because it’s still strong against Asian currencies. Go figure. (P.S.: a weak dollar also makes US goods cheaper in foreign markets)
And honestly, lectures on ‘democracy’ from a citizen of a constitutional monarchy whose governor general serves at the pleasure of the queen of england is a bit ridiculous, don’t you think?

Former Senator Fred Thompson is the only candidate that gets it. He makes decisions based on principles. Principles don’t change. You have to stand for something and not change who you are based on the polls. That is what Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani have done and all of the Democrats do it. Give me a leader that will stand by his principles anyday versus someone that stands for everything.
I know many Republicans and conservatives that will stay home if Rudy Giuliani is the candidate. He does not represent our values as conservatives, and never will. Mitt Romney is a Republican-in-name-only (RINO ) that simply has everything else and nothing to do. “I guess I’ll just try to buy the presidency”. The White House isn’t for sale! Conservatives will simply stay home and the Democrats will pick up additional seats in the House and probably get the 60 seats in the Senate they need to completely destroy our Country. Nice picture huh?
However, I think Fred can bring America back together, if that’s even possible. America needs a rebirth of patriotism and honor. Republicans also need a rebirth. President Reagan was our last rebirth and he can never be duplicated. Fred Thompson will bring his own down-to-earth common sense to this country.. A little of the good old days of faith, federalism and family would do well for this country. If a conservative runs as a conservative, he will win!
Think of it this way: Eight years of another Clinton White House? Now if that is not a sufficient enough reason to pull together as a nation, and fight this socialist liberal takeover of our government, what is?
Folks, we are in for the fight of our lives, just as our young men and women are fighting for our freedoms in Iraq and Afghanistan, we must fight for our nation right here and now! I truly believe Fred Thompson is the one man who can pull this nation back together! Rudy Giuliani will just tear us apart.

What a laugh…She wouldn’t know what to do with a mop, vacuum cleaner or broom. If there is any cleaning up to do it will be with her Rose Law firm papers, health care papers, Bill’s rape accusation paers..Lincoln bedroom for sale papers, illegal cash contributions from Chinatwon NYC dishwasher papers etc, etc. Now Hillary, after you clean up ALL those messes perhaps you can talk about cleaning up your kitchen!!! but not as MY President..This female had you number years ago and will never vote for you!!

Hillary has had maids and nannies her entire adult life. (in more ways than one). Motherhood and housework is beneath her.

I especially love the little tale about the New York soapmaker. Did Hillary also inform this entrepreneur about how much of her profits she plans on absconding “for the common good”?

Pleasem contrast ANY stump speech given by Hillary Clinton with one given by Barack Obama. The contrast is stunning: we need clarity of thought and a straightforward thinker to lead us. Clinton sounds less and less sure of herself as the campaign rolls on.

Of course Hillary knows what to do with a broom… ride it down Penn Av. And the first husband can use the vacuum cleaner for other things! It is a scary thought of 4 or 8 years of the Clinton’s back in the White House.

When Hilda steps out of her automaton screeches she flounders around because she has always been able to keep people from asking her questions that are hard to answer. She has been handled so long she probably doesn’t even know what she is.
Take a look at any of the puff ball interviews that have been given to her when she insists on seeing the questions before so she and her gang can plan her answers.
When she has to think on her feet and hide her true beliefs(which she knows the folks won’t like) she fumbles and stumbles and then whines like a baby.

Would this be like how congress buckled down and cleaned up the cesspool and then became even bigger cheats than the RINO team they kicked out.
Let’s see, what has congress accomplished but to blame Bush for everything and raise the minimum wage (except in American Samoa where that hypocrite Pelosi has corporate pals).

You just have to laugh when folks repeat the trashing of the White House “Scandal” Again, it never happened as the GSA reported in 2001
I’ll take a philanderer over an incompetent buffoon any day. Just look at what LBJ got done while fighting a war. I don’t vote for Pope, I want someone who can Run The Country. Show me “Filegate” and I’ll show you doctored/cherrypicked intelligence, show me Monicagate and I’ll show you blatant war profiteering (no bid contract, billions in missing money, 190,000 Missing small arms, power and water levels still at prewar levels) talk about corruption. They all do it but this current crowd has brought it to a whole new level. It will take us decades to repair our reputation as fair arbiter on the world stage and longer still to dig ourselves out of the mountain of debt that these “fiscal conservatives” have places us under.
The kind of stains now present in the Whitehouse will take more that a broom and a mop to remove.

As a lifelong and proud Democrat, Hillary scares me. She waffled on the illegal immgration question because her intent is to instantly legalize illgal immigrants, further diluting the benfits available to legal American citizens. Hillary is behaving more like an international socialist, than a Democrat.

What an embarrassment to all women Hillary is — why couldn’t the dems run Feinstein or Napolitano instead of the simpleton Hillary? What an insult to bring our mops — doesn’t she really mean (liberal speak) our illegal nannies?? Let us remember this woman went after those who dared to confront Bill when he sexually harassed them. She made fun of stay-at-home moms. She is being given a pass by the media. I will never forget her lies that Chelsea was “at ground zero” during 9/11. Let us remember that Chelsea penned an article in Vanity Fair about her trying to talk a close friend out of going ROTC as “a waste”. Of course, the media is so busy attacking Rudy’s and Fred’s wives, Bush’s and Rudy’s kids, and all the republicans religions. Hillary has kicked law abiding citizens in the face with her illegal license suck up.

The earth is warming, but humans don’t have a thing to do with it. If so, it is a miniscule amount. A single eruption the size of the Mt. St. Helens eruption released more greenhouse gases, dust and ash into the atmosphere than all such emissions by human activity since the beginning of recorded human history. As to the melting glaciers, did you know that at one time, there was no landbridge between North and South America & the current carried warm waters to the North Pole from the West side of South America up the East coast of the US. Those glaciers weren’t there then. We are pretty darned conceited to think that the world’s climate should stay the same as it is during OUR miniscule slice of time here. It has always changed and it always will, no matter how much $$$ Al Bore makes from this manmade issue. Which, of course, was the goal. And he has that cool Nobel prize, too, which is ever so significant, because so many recent recipients are mankinds best offerings.

How very Leninesque, calling conservatives the “darkside.” V.I. Lenin coined the term, Bolsheviks – meaning The Majority.
No, I would not have dinner with Senator Clinton. Through their negligence, she and her husband are responsible for the deaths of several friends and hundreds of New Yorkers.

cd – Well, at least you are open-minded. I definitely have no problem with a cleaner environment. I think everyone should work towards that for sure. I do have a problem with people trying to tell me ‘I’ need to do without things while they jet around the world and SELL ‘carbon credits’ to others who want to do things that are considered ‘bad’ for the environment. As for “Cows, fish, bacteria, maple trees”, I’m pretty sure those have all been part of our environment for some time. Do you realize how much methane is at the bottom of our oceans and rises to the surface all the time? All substance reduces to a smaller form eventually. Like a dead animal on the road – bacteria & scavengers do away with it. The earth has a way of cleaning itself as well. I live in the country & I see this process every day.

Posted by: Creed | November 5, 2007, 3:07 pm 3:07 pm

If global warming is such a “global emergency” why do the leaders of this “cult” continue to destroy the earth by flying around in their gas guzzling, pollution spewing private jets? Why does Nancy Pelosi need the largest military jet available to fly back and forth across the country on weekends to hangout in her multimillion dollar home? Something don’t add up. Are they all about saving the planet from a global crisis or are they about making us feel guilty so they can fleece the masses?

Posted by: Notbuyingit | November 5, 2007, 3:09 pm 3:09 pm

Fred, you are absolutely right. Differences do make life interesting.
Creed- I agree…we should all strive to be more environmentally friendly, regardless of what causes global warming.
And you’re right…all substances do become reduced to a smaller form eventually…however, it’s cyclic (aka, you are what you eat). And yes, the amount of methane that is released from the bottom of our oceans on a daily basis is incredible….as is the amount of CO2 fixed by surface autotrophs.

People forget that the sea and the land are just “floating” on the earth’s surface and don’t take up much of it’s mass.
Humans are but a speck as far as mass is concerned and the earth belches up it contents from the sea through vents and through fissures and volcanoes all of the time.
We can help to not make it worse by throwing our crap into the waters thus effecting the water cycle which is the numero uno “effector” of the earth.
Even the little diatoms in your toothpaste are effected by it.

Posted by: TxnByBrth | November 5, 2007, 3:55 pm 3:55 pm

I used to be a republican conservative, but this administration did everything it possibly could to change my political philosophy, not temporarily, but permanently. You know what changed? I started to read into the details of things instead of regurgitating right wing catch phrases. these catch phrases are perfect for the political environment that we now live in. the media doesn’t report on anything that cannot be summed up in a nice, neat phrase that can be slapped on an impressive graphic and used as a watermark for the 30 seconds of “reporting” on an issue. the same can be true about venues like this one. scroll up and look at how many of the comments consist entirely or at least predominantly of catchy few-word phrases that seek to take the place of responsible, educated, and dare I say informed debate.
I was not a huge fan of Bill Clinton because I found him to be disingenuous as an individual. Fine, but can anyone with even the slightest degree of impartiality really think that the country is better off today than it was 8 years ago?
Yes, Clinton reduced military spending. He didnt slash the military. He didnt irreparably harm their morale by extending their tours of duty and reducing their down time. He didnt send them into battle without proper body armor or armored vehicles (both of which every blackwater soldier has, in addition to their huge salaries).
Did it ever occur to anyone that a reduction in military spending was appropriate, if not necessary? I disagree with anyone who brings up the statistic of however many times bigger our military budget is than anyone else in the world simply becuase I believe it to be an unfair comparison. But to take a serious look at the military-industrial complex is not irresponsible, its actually quite the opposite. It is the very basis of what “conservatives” claim to stand for. Seeking to prevent government waste, increasing accountability to the people, keeping in check the seemingly unfettered reign of defense contractors, private military security operations, and yes, without sending you people into fits of rage screaming “conspiracy theory” – oil companies too.
A balanced budget is and was the stated goal of so many politicians from both sides of the aisle. But when it was a liberal democrat who accomplished it, there was no option other than to smear the accomplishment and demonize the individual.
With regard to foreign relations, in so many places throughout the world (not just france, guys. time to grow up a little)the image of America as the beacon of freedom, justice, and fairness has been tarnished so badly that only someone from the left, or a libertarian like Ron Paul could even hope to repair them. The only person who stands a chance to do so is someone who doesnt answer to a political base that actually thinks it makes any kind of sense to refer to french fries as “freedom fries”, to paint every nation in the world into a corner of “you’re either with us or against us”, and to systematically unravel and eliminate the clear moral high ground we held against those in the world who stand against us by engaging in torture, holding suspects without trial throughout the world, and hiring trigger happy private security contractors at several times the compensation as that of our military, without the pesky “rules of engagement” or accountability to anyone. anywhere.
Much to the dismay of any member of that proud fraternity of 25% of whatever it is now of americans who still think bush is doing a good job, the world is not black and white. you’re not either with us or against us. its not always clear whats good and whats evil. for example, in a “you’re either with us or against us” world, where does saudi arabia fall? we’ve got a military base there, so good? But wait, they hate freedom, they repeatedly buy influence and have an impact on our foreign policy, and have a signficantly worse human rights record than Iran or even Iraq under saddam. women arent even allowed to bear anything but their EYES, the vast majority of the 9-11 hijackers were saudi, and there are so many reports of their royal family shaking our dignitaries hands and then turning around and funding all kinds of “charities” with direct ties to terrorism with the money that exxon, shell, etc. gives them for their black gold.
So..good or evil? With us or against us? You know why there hasnt been more outrage in this country over the worst president in the modern history of our nation? Because none of this can be reduced to a catchphrase. When you’re dealing with people on an intellectual level, its impossible to leave out the nuance. Its impossible to boil down an intelligent argument to black vs white, good vs. evil.
But what do I know, I probably just “hate america”…

Posted by: Fred | November 5, 2007, 4:01 pm 4:01 pm

It appears that Hillary finally had to answer some tough questions during the recent debate and she did not do well.
In my opinion Hillary is the most corrupt person to ever run for president; she makes Nixon look like a choir boy.
Her corruption runs deep, i.e. the recent fraud committed in the Hollywood campaign fund raising, or the “file gate” affair, her role in “travel gate” (where agencies of our government was used by the Clintons to go after an innocent man) or her brother’s involvement in accepting large payments to obtain pardons from her husband.
Now it appears she wants to have driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.
She is running, in part, on her experience as First Lady, yet she refuses to make available papers related to her years in the White House
We must demand those papers be released and soon.
What is she hiding now?
I suspect those papers will reveal she role in the corruption committed during the Clinton years.

Fred, I think she should release those papers just as soon as W releases the Reagan papers and those of his Dad that he had sealed when he took office. Or his millitary records….oops those were mysteriously lost in 2001. I don’t think any of them know all that is in them, they just seal them just in case and to keep the misquoters and selective quoters from having a feild day.

Don’t you just LOVE the way the libs characterize the people who don’t agree with their distorted views, with such HILARIOUS zingers as “this is what happens when you put WIFI in a trailer park”? Please, try not to insult other people’s intelligence if you intend to vote for Hillary Clinton, as you have no room to talk about ANYONE’S intelligence.

Thanks for the obligatory fake post from JT. We all recognize them – the ones that start with “I used to be a conservative Republican…” and then list a litany of things that demonstrate no connection to conservative ideals.
The economic data was more promising during the 1990s. However, I’m troubled by one core question – what happened to that roaring economy? Why was there an “internet bubble” burst 10 months before Clinton left office?
So, if the economy was so good, why did it collapse? That’s the question that is never asked when someone pontificates on how good things were under Clinton. I fear the good economy might have been as phony as the man who was President at that time. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been a bubble to burst. Just a thought.

All the comments on the board are noteworthy, mostly accurate if also somewhat hysterical.
Much posted about the Clintons and the Bushes is quite true.
Why then, would one even contemplate revisiting a Clinton after a Bush, a Clinton and a Bush?

Clinton doesnt have the experience to be President, not by a long shot. Fixing the Christmas Tree in the White House doesnt cut it SURELY.
The “accomplishments” she does tout are all failures: education in Arkansas falling from #40 to #49 under her tender loving care, failed Healthcare “plan”, failure to do ANYTHING to improve jobs in Upstate New York and on and on. And she can’t even figure out what the right thing is with regard to illegals having driving licenses……..God help us if she and the Dems are elected.

America doesn’t have a problem voting for a woman.

And that Hillary, is you.

What can you say about Hitlery that hasn’t already been said?
Anybody who votes for her is either a brainwashed ideologue or a total idiot.
I think the only reason that she hasn’t told wheelchair-bound invalids that they would walk in a Billary presidency is because Edwards beat her to it. Not that she won’t. Still early yet.
I may vote for a woman, and I may even vote for a Democrat (and have), but I would never vote for a power-mad flip-flopping Socialist who doesn’t even know where she stands on ANYTHING into this nation’s highest office.
Nice knowing ya, Hitlery. Not. Buh-Bye!

Just a note to Hillary. The stains in the Oval Office were cleaned and the room fumigated when G Bush took over. Having Bill around must be like having an over excited terrier. I still find it hard to believe the American people wanting this white trash back in our house. Having said that , the bar is set pretty low for intellect in the U.S.

Actually BT theres nothing fake about it. I was, and still am, a registered republican, although now that you mention it i need to go ahead and change to an independent. the concept of a big government overreaching its bounds genuinely disturbs me. But i apparently have a different definition of which elements of the government’s gerth scare me. First, i think that government being big enough to cover the cost of children’s healthcare is fine. On the other hand, government being big enough to listen to my phone conversations, put constitutional rights on hold, hold people without trial, torture them, and tell people what type of sex they’re allowed to practice is a bit too big for me.
I am firmly in favor of economic conservatism which, incidentally, involves opposing a completely useless war that costs trillions of dollars of OUR tax money.
I favor a smart, effective strategy to defend our country from terrorists or any other threat that exists to it. This war has done precisely the opposite. Look around the world. Iran is flexing muscles that it never had before the war started. Putin is sounding eerily similar to the soviets of old. Pakistan, a NUCLEAR power, is on the verge of literally falling to pieces. The entire middle east is infinitely more unstable than it was even before, and i’m the first to admit its been unstable for far more presidents’ terms than we’d like to admit.
The closed-minded and short-sightedness that exists in 95% of these posts are the same qualities that Bush is meant to appeal to. So congratulations, mission accomplished. Take a second and think about why. Why is pakistan about to fall apart? because the bush administration, which loves to talk about “spreading democracy”, chose dictator over democracy since musharraff vowed to support the US policies there, after unilaterally seizing power from a democratically elected government via a military coup. So i guess he’s a “decider” too.
i’m not saying theres anything wrong with the american policy of backing those who may be friendly to you, we’ve been doing that for long before bush took office. but such practices can only work if your representative at the table (in our case bush) is smart enough to know when he’s being had. and clearly, with regard to russia, iran, pakistan, north korea, etc. that simply is not the case.
So, what exactly about my comments are lacking in connection to conservative ideals? my opposition to torture? my opposition to sending hardworking, loyal, and dedicated US troops into combat without proper gear while funding a mercenary force with all the equipment that the military lacks plus several times the pay? How about not wanting to polarize the entire world on account of stupidity and a complete lack of tact?
I think you may have simply mis-typed there. I think you meant to say that I “list a litany of things that demonstrate no connection to current, REPUPUBLICAN PARTY ideals.” I agree wholeheartedly with that statement, but then again I certainly would not want, under any circumstances, to be associated with the current republican party platform. I honestly couldnt care less if two gay people want to marry each other. “broken borders”, are you serious? the borders have been broken since before anyone thought anything about them being broken. all of a sudden its a new “hot button” issue because people buy into the hype that politicians generate and the media exacerbates.
With regard to your one point though, you are right. a large portion of the economic success of the 90′s had to do with the internet bubble. but companies existed outside of silicon valley. successful did too. much more so than today, when the only companies making record profits are the insurance companies (during the year after hurricane katrina they posted record profits), drug companies, and yes – oil companies. I do NOT support hillary clinton, but for substantive reasons. not becuase her husband got a bj. I do NOT support the redistribution of wealth, or taking the profits from oil companies. but part of fiscal responsibility is responsibility. Hedge fund managers who make hundreds of millions or billions of dollars annually are taxed at half the rate that I, a single person making $65,000, am taxed. Does this make sense to anyone, except the hedge fund guys?
the one positive that this administration tries to point to about the bush economy is that home ownership rates are the highest in history. guess what, so are home foreclosure rates. you know what else? the dollar is plummeting in value. its on par with the canadian dollar, worth less than half of the british pound, and is at its lowest rate against the euro since the euro was introduced. if you think that the two, or even the crippling cost of the iraq war, have nothing to do with each other, then you’re simply misinformed.
But sure, keep harping on the sexual exploits of the former president. Ignore, of course, the seemingly endless stream of republican lawmakers caught with their pants down. aah, the party of “morals.”
I love it…

To Richard who said “unless you are a Native American.”
I am a “Native American.” I am of German decent, and born & raised in THIS country. That makes me a “Native American.”
If a tribe from Aisa migrates to this country, they are not “Natives” when they hit the shores, Jose!
The American Indians — as they were known before your mind was clogged with this stupid political correctness, actually came from Aisia.
Prior to their arrival, there was just wildlife and tall trees.
Your so-called “Native Americans’ slaughtered each other’s tribes in a very brutal way.

To JT: Why should I pay for your children’s health care. I had 2 children and my wife wanted another; I told her we couldn’t afford another one, and that was it.
Why do we have minimum wage workers with 4-kids and 2 cars?
The Liberal lie is that home forclosures are the fault of the Bush administration, but in fact, the forclosurs are the personal responsibility of people who bought houses that they eventually couldn’t afford for working at $9.00-per-hour jobs. I as a taxpayer refuse to bail them out.
When you could buy a house at 2% intrest — but not a “locked-in” intrest rate, this is going to happen. One has to be very niave to not realize that. That’s why people should consult an attorney before making property purchases.
Once again. I am NOT going to pay for your stupid choice.

And about the idea that people learn to like Hillary Rodham-Clinton as they get to know her: I’m sorry, I don’t buy that. This idea was spawned, fabricated, engineered, by a single article (to my knowledge) quoting I believe one person asserting that he and his friends have come to like her after having a chance to get to know her. It’s so ridiculous for so many reasons. Seems so many articles about hillary’s campaign are just puff-pieces, with no substance, investigation, or relevance.

Folks, all of this mud slinging against Hillary is nuts. Just look at the facts and watch her. Do I like her, absolutely not. Would I vote for her – NO. But one thing I have learned in my life is listen more and talk less. People of this country are not stupid. In the last 20 years or so we have been fed a gruel of mush that sounded pretty good at the time, but people are beginning to see the fruits of the liberal agenda. Our courts are in a mess, the mainstream media has turned into ongoing op-ed instead of the news, our schools are in a mess, with the dumbing down of an entire generation. A child in school can get birth control but not an aspirin. People are starting to see that more government is not a good thing. I do believe that we will survive this and when it is all over Hillary will be done.

On the other hand, government being big enough to listen to my phone conversations, put constitutional rights on hold, hold people without trial, torture them, and tell people what type of sex they’re allowed to practice is a bit too big for me.”
I have to ask, JT: Who’s listening to your phone conversations? What Constitutional Rights are on hold? Freedom of expression? Don’t have a problem with that here, do you? Torture? Dunking a guy on a board into water is not torture. Drilling into kneecaps, pulling fingernails and electrocuiting testicles, now THAT’S torture! You’ve been reading the NY Times too much. It’s fiction, you know.
BTW Who’s telling you what kind of sex to have? Have the religious police been peeking in your window? Like in Iran?
As for childrens’ health care, what children in this country can’t get the medical care they need from parental insurance, SSI, Medicaid or a million other programs for poor families that already cost this country hundreds of billions of dollars? BTW Hospitals by law MUST help in emergency cases, regardless of ability to pay.
Everything is Drama Queen territory with you lefties. If we listen in on Al Qaeda phone calls, we’re Big Brother. If we dunk a jihadi in water, we’re Dr. Mengele. If we want illegals out of the country, we’re inhumane and racist bigots. And you know what? As you can tell from most posts here, we’re sick of it all.
We’re sick of nanny state newspapers telling us how to decide on issues instead of letting US gather the news and form an opinion (which is why they’re all tanking), and we’re sick of MSM broadcast outlets shilling for one political party and extremist left-wing views.

Hillary will use whatever means to get elected–including the fact that she is a woman. Either you’re able to do the job, or you’re not, Hillary. You can’t play the gender card when you’re wanting to be the President of the U.S. Suck it up and act like a man.
And… I’m still waiting on someone to give me three things that Hillary has done that make her qualified to be president. The last time I asked that, one ignorant man said, “well, she’s a good mother and a loyal wife and she was first lady.” I was like, uh… what? I’m a good mother, a loyal wife, so that doesn’t mean a hill of beans when you’re talking about running a country. And being a first lady isn’t quite what I had in mind.

Sir, with all due respect, I can’t speak for everyone; and will try to avoid prejudice at every turn, but I have been ‘attacked’ on-line by more than a few self -righteous morally-smug Canadians. That’s not to say that you fit into that category, but perhaps Fred has had several similar experiences.
For the record: the Canadians who attacked me on-line were very far from well-mannered. As I said, I am not prejudiced and won’t apply that image to all Canadians. There are brave Canadians serving in Afghanstan right now – I would definitely count them among my friends.
As far as freedom is concerned, and taking some precautions to protect life & limb, I don’t have a problem with extra measures. Many state governments in the US require that drivers wear seat belts while operating motor vehicles. I think that’s an excellent idea, although some say it’s intrusive.
So if the government wants to search my bags prior to boarding the NYC subway, I don’t object. If the government wants to monitor al-Qaeda cell phone conversations and fund transfers, I will not object.
As a New Yorker who doesn’t have a Blame-America-First focus and who doesn’t frequent Opium Dens, I take the War On Terror seriously. My own near misses and murdered friends aside, I tend to take this personally.
And given that the Canadian government busted-up a sleeper cell in Mississauga not long ago, perhaps you might want to consider adopting a more serious attitude.

Posted by: CH Lee | November 6, 2007, 4:16 pm 4:16 pm

To CH Lee,
Sir, I sincerely am sorry for your losses and near misses. I can imagine that was a very low point for you. I have many American friends and they are wonderful people. Make no mistake, many of us in Canada will stand and fight along side America. It merely seems obvious to most of us the problems facing the U.S. can’t be solved by the mindset and attitude that exists in the White House. We are absolutely no better than our American neighbors, but we do care what others think. I suppose when Fred through that in my face it struck a nerve and seemed symptomatic of the inflammatory, cavalier fight blustering Mr. Bush is good at. Please pardon my wish to defend Hillary Clinton, who I believe derserves a chance to build consensus in your country and around the world to make America the country you dreamed it would be. I’m aghast Mr. Bush hasn’t secured your Mexican border because, yes, there are those with untoward purposes who would come through there to cause more misery and suffering. We do take terrorist threats seriously, and will be vigilant not only to protect ourselves but to shield America too. In no way did I mean offense to you or anyone else who was exposed to loss and sadness on 911. It was one of the worst days of my life too, just witnessing it on TV. America can’t solve all the world’s problems, there are too many, and they are rooted in places none of us have been. For the sake of your citizens, elect a government that will take care of you first, and protect you at home from those who plot against you. Everyone from Alaska to Florida and New Mexico to Maine deserves that. The religious kooks and zealots around the world will make it that wars on foreign soil for anything but the best reasons will be more impossible to win than putting out the California wildfires with a supersoaker. I truly wish America prosperity, fun, love, brotherhood, security, health care, clean air and quality education. With all that, your freedom is a given. I suppose I’ve only really heard one candidate who I suspect can deliver that to you. Though you may not believe it, we are pulling for you. After all, Ontario buys more from you than any COUNTRY in the world, a statistic you can check for yourself. We want to do business with you, be friends and for you to be at peace. Best of luck to all Americans in the next election.

After reading many of the anti Hillary comments, it is obvious what is wrong with our country. Bush is not entirely to blame for all the misinformation, lies and deceit. He had help, the judgment of the people who voted for him. Instead of basing your assertions on gossip and opinions, try educating yourself outside your sphere of influence. It might change the hated views you possess. I am an independent who was hoping for a Chuck Hagel candidacy and consider myself a fan of Joe Biden. But after reading all the anti Hillary remarks, I will certainly consider voting for her. She displays strength in dealing with adversities, including character assasinations. That is a trait to admire and is exactly what this country needs. Someone strong enough to stand up to ignorance.

All she needs to do is return that which she pilfored when hubby? was pres. Maybe, then her staff will wash them. I am sure with her demands, as she is well known for, they will be clean in a real jeffy!
