Edwards Joins Writer’s Strike
EmailABC News’ Raelyn Johnson Reports: Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., will leave the campaign trail briefly Friday to join striking writers on the picket lines in Burbank, California.
"I’ll be there to walk with them because this is an example why when a product is being produced and that product is creating a significant amount of revenue then we have to be fair to the workers and the creative forces that are producing," Edwards told ABC News before leaving Las Vegas to fly to California.
The leading Democratic presidential candidates including Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Edwards, have all issued statement of support for the workers, eager to display their solidarity with labor unions.
However Edwards will be the first candidate to visit the union writers, who have been on strike since Nov.5th over their payments for work that is repurposed on DVDs, the Internet, cell-phones and elsewhere.
The strike — the first industry-wide writer’s walkout of its kind since 1988 — has garnered a great deal of media attention.
"It’s very similar to picket lines that I’ve worked on behalf of healthcare workers, on behalf of security guards on behalf of other kinds of working people in this country because I believe they deserve a fair chance, and that’s exactly why I’ll be there with them today," Edwards said.

Normally that would mean he quits running for President, but he will be a scab as soon as he gets back on the stump. I will meet you half-way says EDWARDS, which means see ya…back to my job.

When Edwards is done in Burbank the Carpenter’s Union is picketing a site here in DC. They’ve been hiring homeless people to picket at $8 an hour while they work elsewhere at $24 an hour, so I’m sure they would welcome free help.

So, is there something about getting WEEKENDS OFF, or a FAIR WAGE, or so many OTHER THINGS that you should thank UNION ORGANISERS for that you don’t understand?

Mr. Natural is right…without the help of unions, only the wealthiest Americans would be free on Saturday or Sunday to spend time with their kids, who incidentally, would not be working either.

Funny how both Clinton then Edwards (and with a physical appearance) FOLLOWED Obama regarding the writer’s strike. Obama was the first one to come out with his support of the writers, then here comes Clinton up the rear, and now Edwards who decided he would do it even bigger — by going there. Oh brother. As I’ve said all along, if it weren’t for Obama leading this race, Edwards and Clinton wouldn’t have a campaign.
