Google Alert: Obama Visits Google HQ
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: Obama unveiled his innovation agenda to the technology friendly crowd of google employees within the innovation savvy Silicon Valley area.
The plan aims for the internet to be an open network, “I will take a backseat to no one in my commitment to network neutrality,” Obama stated.
Obama also promised to have a more transparent government, one where government data is posted online, and would appoint a Chief Technology Officer to oversea the innovation needed.
“We need to make sure that the next success story – the next Google – happens here in America.” Obama told the crowd, explaining how America can use technology to remain competitive.
When asked during the town hall what he could learn from Bill Clinton’s presidency, being a two term president, Obama demurred a bit to any compliments of his prime rival’s husband.
"Democrats lose when they are attacked and because they don’t know where they stand,” Obama explained, “They end up getting defensive instead of going on the offensive,"
Obama added later that he’s looking forward to a debate with “Rudy or Mitt.”
