Thompson: Watch ‘the YouTube’ for Romney’s ‘Pro-Choice Beliefs’

ABC News’ Christine Byun reports: GOP hopeful Fred Thompson criticized former Gov. Mitt Romney’s abortion record during a campaign stop in South Carolina, an early-voting state Thompson considers "extremely important."

The former Tennessee senator, who considers the Palmetto State "part of [his] neck of the woods,"  told a group of reporters that he has watched Romney’s "fervor of which he held his pro-choice beliefs" on the Internet.

"Until about two years ago, when he was deciding he was going to run for president, Gov. Romney was the most adamant pro-choice advocate that I’d ever seen. You know, pull it up on the YouTube sometime with his debate when he was running for governor," Thompson said.

Thompson, who recently won the backing of anti-abortion group National Right to Life, also accused Romney of stealing some of his lines.

"Gov. Romney is saying a lot of the things that I’m saying now, or saying some of the same things. The only difference is he was saying diametrically opposing things all his career," he added.

Thompson also reaffirmed his accusation that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been soft on the second amendment, saying, "He never met a gun control bill he didn’t like, until he started running for president."

Earlier on Saturday, Thompson dropped by a gun show in Ladson, South Carolina. It was the second day the former senator met with firearm owners. Thompson’s campaign also rolled out a "Sportsmen For Fred" committee, who tout the candidate as "one of us" and an "ally" for hunters.
