Client Makes Case For Edwards
ABC News’ Raelyn Johnson Reports: With the Iowa caucuses less than two weeks away, former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., Friday cast himself as the candidate who can fight corporate interests — and used a former client to make his case.
In Des Moines, Iowa, the Edwards campaign trotted out the Lakey Family that Edwards represented as a trial lawyer in 1993.
Edwards won a multi-million dollar settlement for the family in one of the last cases he tried. Valerie Lakey was five years old when she was severely injured by a swimming pool drain.
"I know John because he saved my daughter’s life," said Sandy Lakey, Valerie’s mother.
"When he held my hands and looked in my eyes I saw the compassion, honesty and integrity that is John Edwards," Valerie said in a speech to supporters.
On the campaign trail, Edwards often speaks of his experience with the Lakey’s to propel the argument that he has experience in fighting corporate interests.
"We went into that courtroom and we battled and we fought," Edwards said Friday. "I gave them the hope which is what they needed. But then I walked into that courtroom and we gave that big corporation the hell that they needed."
The Lakey family is scheduled to campaign with Edwards on several upcoming stops through Iowa. James Lowe, a coal miner Edwards met during his poverty tour is also traveling with Edwards as he seeks to put a face on the narrative of his campaign.

CPAC: Romney Struggles to Convince Voters
I donated to John Edwards but after really comparing his words with his past actions, found myself lacking confidence in him. However, fortunately we have one candidate that walks the walk and has for 35 years as a public servant. He truly represents the middle class and lower class. It isn’t Obama as he talks progressively but votes another way. The People’s Candidate is Dennis Kucinich pure and simple.

Kucinich hasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the nomination, let alone the general election.
In the field of realistic choices then, who remains to carry anything approaching a progressive agenda? War mongering Clinton? Nuclear power pushing Obama?
Hmmm.

Edwards is the ONLY credible answer for progressive Democrats, so far. I heard him speak twice during the ’04 campaign and thought he was twice the candidate that Kerry was, and should have been the Democratic nominee. “Feel good” candidates like Clinton (not so much, anymore) and Obama aren’t going to win the General Election. With some financial support and the southern vote Edwards can do that. That would feel good enough for me.
