Rudy Giuliani: I Don’t Have Cancer

ABC News’ Jennifer Parker Reports: Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani said Monday he has seen his medical test results and is in good health and has not had a recurrence of cancer.

"I’m perfectly healthy. I don’t have cancer," Giuliani told reporters after reading a Christmas story to children in Harlem at New York’s Hale House, a residence for needy children.

The former New York mayor said his doctor was taking some time off for the holidays, but that he would be putting out a report about Giuliani’s health perhaps next week.

Giuliani was hospitalized in Missouri last week after suffering a headache he described as "worse than I’ve ever had."

He was in pain so severe his campaign plane turned back less than 10 minutes after takeoff.

The former New York mayor, who has prostate cancer seven years ago, was back campaigning in New Hampshire over the weekend.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Giuliani said his hospital visit was prompted by a "terrible headache" that began developing while he was campaigning Missouri that got progressively worse.

"It got really bad at night, when I was speaking to a crowd and did a press conference," Giuliani said. "I got on a plane — I imagine what happened is the pressure of the takeoff made the headache worse than I’ve ever had."

Originally Giuliani’s campaign said the former mayor checked into the hospital with “flulike symptoms” but then Giuliani said it was actually a headache. The fact that the campaign has yet to release any concrete medical information to the press has raised questions about Giuliani’s health and the transparency of his campaign.

Giuliani said Monday he knew he didn’t have cancer because his PSA level — a test for prostate cancer — was measured three weeks ago and was “zero or negligible.”

“I knew I didn’t have cancer,” Giuliani said, “but I wanted to be sure.”

Giuliani, who is taking time off from campaigning on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to children at the Hale House, a tradition he said he began over a dozen years ago.

ABC News’ Mary McGuirt contributed to this report.

How come none of his family were in his Christmas Ad? He should have had all his previous wives and children with him in the ad demonstrating his “family values”.

He should have had the ghosts of dead firemen in the ad too. But it’s nice to know that he finally made it up to Harlem.

I think he made it up to gain votes from sympatheic instead of pathetic voters. If he did have a headache, all he had to do is call his endorser Pat Robertson & the 700 Club to pray for him and it miraculously would dissappear.

I am happy for him, now go home and sit in front of the fire with your third or fourth or fifth wife, or whatever and enjoy your time on earth,

Rudy Giuliani was an astonishingly good mayor for New York City. Every though I have my doubts about his suitability for the presidency, I still believe that he is due the respect and sympathy that anyone brave enough to campaign for president deserves.
As a cancer survivor myself, I would say .. let’s be grateful that Mr. Giuliani is apparently healthy.

I too am happy that Guiliani is in good health, however thet still does nothing in the fact that he is the last person who should be running for president. Ask the firefighters where Guiliani buried the remains of their fire fighters? It was the Staten Island Dump! Guiliani visiting the children in Harlem at New York’s Hale House, a residence for needy children must be a first!

Campaigning is extremely difficult. It taxes all the adrenalin, normal sleep function, and energy. Yea, he had a sinus headache campaigning in the snow. I am a democrat so this is not political. Get well soon, Rudi! No you are not perfect, I am in a different party, but get some rest over Christmas, and good luck on your health. May the best person win, and it will be fine, as GB is no longer running.

I’ve noticed that none of the Republicans ever wish anything good for the Democrats like Democratic poster Franklin wishes for Mr. Guiliani.
Republicans go for the jugular, smear, and try to destroy the Democrats every chance they get. They are arrogant beyond belief and rig election after election shamelessly. Maybe that’s why Democrats lose all the time; they’re too nice to their so-called enemies.

Why was his family not in his Christmas Ad? For the same reason Huckabee, Clinton, and Edwards didn’t feature their families. They chose not to.

You’ve got to love all of the armchair doctors on the internet who think they have a better diagnosis for Giuliani’s headache.
And of course we also have those who think it’s funny to make light of cancer since they don’t like Giuliani.
People, try to find some happiness this Christmas season and put away the partisan insanity for just one day.

Guliani`s campaign has some real problems if they can`t distinguish flu-like symptoms from a bad headache. BTW, his last remembered association with N Y City blacks, before the obvious political pandering at Hale House, was when he referred to the unarmed young man gunned down by police as “no altar boy.” As it turned out, the guy was an altar boy. Well, as Giuliani has admitted, all his mistakes are big ones, like Kerick.

When Rudy Giuliani was mayor of New York City he reduced violent crime, moved people off welfare and into paying jobs, reduced taxes, encouraged businesses to return, increased employment and made NYC cleaner and safer. I hope that everyone who values this things votes for Rudy for president.

When Rudy Giuliani was mayor of New York City he reduced violent crime, moved people off welfare and into paying jobs, reduced taxes, encouraged businesses to return, increased employment and made NYC cleaner and safer. I hope that everyone who values these things votes for Rudy Giuliani for president. He’s a great leader. And he will be a great president in 2008.

How many more days, ABCnews, do we have to hear about Rudy’s Headache. I mean now you’re giving me one. Do you guys remember your supposed to be reporting news, not all this trivial stuff. “If you don’t know where you’re going, chances are you will end up somewhere else.” Like ABCspews.

Then why does his picture look like “death warmed over”? It is as easy to find a physician fawning upon a politician as it is to find a study to promote another pharmaceutical. We can count on the ABC “bloodhounds” to sniff up some current news for us.

I am honestly happy that Rudy is back and in good health. Though I disagree with him on several positions, he did his best for NYC and deserves respect. NOW, pop a couple Tylenol, have some fruit cake and get back out there on the campaign trail, so WE THE PEOPLE, can harass you with our RON PAUL signs and steal your publicity!!!

I am glad, as one human to another, that you do not have cancer. But you don’t have a platform, or a soul. Thank goodness your lies and distortions are beginning to come back to haunt you. Glad to see you twisting in the political wind.
