The Obama Campaign Heads North: To Alaska
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller: Campaign staffers for Sen. Barack Obama better buy some mittens and hats, as the campaign is set to open a campaign office in Anchorage, Alaska as soon as they nail down the building.
This weekend a national campaign staffer will head to the northernmost state to look for an office space and hire a few staff members to get the operation in the state up and running.
The new office joins about ten grassroots groups, including "Alaskan Chicks for Obama" that already exists on the ground in the state.
The opening of the offices comes at a time when Obama is just eking out a lead in the early caucus state of Iowa, and may be a signal that the campaign feels the race may be tight through Super Tuesday.
Obama spokesperson Jen Pskai says, "Our focus continues to be on the first four primary states, but nothing speaks more to the broad reach of the energy and enthusiasm for Obama than the fact that we have the grassroots support and the resources to open an office and hold a caucus training in Alaska."
On Monday the campaign will hold it’s first ever caucus training in the state, to teach people about the state’s February 5th caucus.
Should Alaskans expect to see Obama anytime soon?
Don’t bet on it, until after the Iowa caucus.

Obama just endorsed a corrupt party candidate OVER the reform cadidate… BEFORE the people had their chance to vote. I want a leader, NOT a ruler. Obama is not worthy of my vote and should not be supported by anyone who believes in democracy.
