As the previous poster clarified, Huckabee wasn’t claiming that God was answering prayer in terms of making him win the election…he was simply saying that answered prayer was a factor in his rise in the polls and grassroots support, etc. A sentiment I totally agree with!

God does answer prayers…ABSOLUTELY. A member of our church had four simultaneous distinctly severe life threatening infirmities of the heart. His doctors said EACH infirmity presented him with less than a 25% chance of survival. He was in the hospital for over a month a had several operations. He was in an induced comma for over 4 days as any movement could rupture the mended heart valves. When they attempted to bring him out of the comma, he failed to respond for another 24-36 hours. Not only were there a number of individuals constantly at his bedside or in the hallway praying 24/7, but our church had extra prayer services throughout the weeks. When he woke up, he had no memory of the events. But the doctors and nurses were all in tears as they knew his recovery was definitely a miracle. After several months of therapy he was able to return to work — albeit with limitations. That was four years ago. God answers prayers in His own time frame. AND sometimes the answer is no.

I don’t think God answers prayers, or at least not mine in praying that Gov. Huckabee would talk about issues and his agenda instead of his religion!

It is false that “God” answers prayers. This has been proved. Huckabee sounds delusional, or worse.

Before you jump to any conclusions thinking that Huckabee is saying God wants him to be president, know the whole context of what Huckabee said in his appearance at Liberty regarding God.
From the Liberty student newspaper:
“Much of the news conference focused on Huckabee’s reference to God as a major driving force behind his increasing popularity. When asked if God was solely responsible for his surge in the polls, Huckabee clarified: ‘I’m saying that when people pray, things happen.’”
“I’m not saying that God wants me to be elected.”
“The last time I checked, he hadn’t registered in any of the states to vote. If he does register, be sure to let me know, because I will ask for his vote.”
