Clinton and Edwards Get In Last Second Shots
ABC’s Raelyn Johnson Reports: On the day of the South Carolina Primary, a series of anti-John Edwards robo calls are being conducted on behalf of the Clinton campaign, reminding voters of one Edwards’ biggest uh-oh moments in his campaign — working for a hedge fund that had ties to sub prime lending and home foreclosures.
Here’s the script:
Voice: "Hello, This is the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign.
Before you vote on Saturday, you should know that John Edwards voted for permanent trade relations with China. That’s right, John Edwards voted for the bill that cost thousands of jobs. Like the ones in the textile mills he talks about so much down here.
"You should also know that John Edwards made nearly a half a million dollars working for a Wall Street investment fund. A fund that’s been profiting on foreclosing on the homes of families; including 100 homes right here in South Carolina. That’s according to The State newspaper.
"Here in South Carolina, Edwards says he’s one of us, but up on Wall Street he was just another one of them.
"Can you trust John Edwards? This call is paid for by the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign."
Edwards’ camp quickly put out a statement claiming the calls are evidence that Clinton was afraid that Edward could finish ahead of her in the South Carolina primary. "Seems as though the prohibitive frontrunner sees John Edwards as a threat her becoming the nominee and that’s why they’re resorting to false, underhanded tactics to attack John Edwards’ message of fighting for whose who are too often not heard in Washington.”.
The Clintonistas, however, replied that Edwards started it. "John Edwards has been running negative TV ads against Senator Clinton for weeks. It was important to correct the record.”
Earlier this morning in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Edwards made a plea of his own to voters saying, "I want to encourage all voters who did not vote last Saturday, whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican or an Independent to show up a the polls today and vote for somebody who’s actually focused on the problems that you’re faced with — from jobs to healthcare to ending the war in Iraq – as opposed to two candidates who are spending all their time and energy tearing each other down. I’m about building South Carolina up, not about tearing people down, not about tearing politicians down."

Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
Edwards is so pathetic. He knows he doesn’t have a chance in h of getting the nomination. He’s just trying to see who’ll give him the most to get his support. He thinks it’s Obama, so he’s attacking Clinton. But Obama’s not going to make it, and even if he did, he couldn’t win the general, so Edwards isn’t just conniving, but bad at it, as he’s picking the wrong horse.

Poor Edwards, he always has to fight to be noticed. I really like him. I just remember when he was running against Kerry, and people kept asking him if he was going to be Kerry’s running mate and he had to keep making it clear that He was running for President. Well, finally he has his picture with Hillary and Obama this week. But I am still for Hillary!

Hey, so saddned, whats with the abusive attack on Edwards? It’s not like he’s a Republican. You can make a point without calling him pathetic and offending people.

I didn’t know that Edwards made nearly a half a million dollars working for a Wall Street investment fund. Voters really should have known this before making a sound judgement.
Somebody may say this is just another example of negative compaigne but I would say this is a check and balance.

JRE could have come back and said when Bill Clinton passed NAFTA all the manufacturing jobs left SC and went to Mexico, and they have never come back.

Hillary has been my presidential candidate choice right from the start. I was very disappointed to hear about those types of last minute phone calls. If this is the case she should have brought it up for him to respond to during the debate. At this point I am still planning on voting for Hillary but I don’t care for this type of campaigning. They have had plenty of opportunities to bring this up where the other person would have had a chance to respond. I don’t feel that these type of robocalls are fair plus I don’t appreciate when anyone calls me and it is a recording. I don’t know how most people respond but campaigning in this manner, but for me it usually has the opposite effect of what the candidate intended.

I guess this election is beginning to be a race between gender and race. Hate to say it but that ‘s what it looks like. The benifiting party will be the republicans

How does Hillary’s ad “correct the record”?

if this is what Hillary are doing now… god knows what she and he (a convicted liar… to a grand jury nevertheless) will do when they get their hands on the
Whitehouse! its just slime…
remember what we were all taught when we were kids and we teach our kids now? “you are known by the friends you keep”…
if you vote for Hilary (and bill)… those are your friends. kinda makes your stomach turn doesn’t it?
MY stomach doesn’t turn when i support Obama… wonder why?

Congratulation to Senator Obama on SC primary election but I think it’s a bad news for DEM because they will continue lose the bid to the White House again if Senator Obama won the nomination.

Hey John, Obama lied about returning the correct amount of money to Rezko. He lied about his promise to not campaign in Florida, he lied about not using race as a wedge, he lied about taking the high road while claiming the Clintons were using race (even though he himself did), he is pulling off Bill Clintons 1st campaign the message of HOPE and he took the United Farm Workers Union mantra “Si Se Puede!”. The guy doesn’t even use his own ideas. Then to top it off, he kisses up for Republican vote during a Democratic Primary under the guise of unity and lies about that too. There, now is your stomach turning?

I’m not surprised she turned on Edwards, this isn’t the first time she has done so in the campaign. This would be what the 5th or 6th time now? The only difference is the obvious ease that they do this stuff. Seems like the same bull-dog tactics of the Bush admin. if you ask me.
