Clinton Spin Loses Steam After Iowa
ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: Following a lackluster showing in the Iowa caucuses, Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign is citing new poll numbers to help make the case that her campaign is still on track to succeed post-Iowa.
A Saturday CNN/WMUR poll shows Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama tied at 33 percent, and Concord Monitor poll results show Clinton trailing Obama by one percentage point.
Senior Clinton strategist and pollster, Mark Penn, released a memo Saturday, highlighting two new polls. According to Penn, the new polls do not show a bounce since Thursday’s Iowa caucuses.
Penn writes, "there is no statistically significant change in their numbers before and after the Iowa caucuses."
But Penn appears to shifting his interpretations of polling numbers, now parsing what is and is not statistically significant one week after calling Clinton’s 33 percent in Iowa polls to rival Barack Obama’s 31 percent a "lead."
When the Des Moines Register’s poll came out days before the Iowa caucuses, projecting that Obama was in the lead, followed by Clinton and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, the campaign pushed back fiercely. Staffers told reporters that their internal polls were reflecting just the opposite. They whispered that Senator Edwards was in the lead followed by Clinton followed by Obama.
It turns out it that wasn’t the case.
Mark Penn admitted to reporters on a press plane flying from New Hampshire to Iowa that he had in fact seen the same trend that the Des Moines Register projected — with Obama in the lead.
The Clinton camp inundated reporters’ e-mail inboxes Saturday evening, in attempts to push the "no bounce" phenomenon.

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
Pls tell me how polling is accurate. How does one poll a young person with only a cell phone? Polls are not capturing the young vote, I beleive, and it will be the huge win for Obama in NH.

Rasmussen reports and American Research Group have Obama up 10+ and 12+ respectively. Kiss it Penn!

Duncan Hunter rates a place on your list, yet you omit Dennis Kucinich ? This is using your power as the MSM to protect your corporate owners by omitting the one candidate that represents true change. I find this truly disturbing.

Hillary needs to understand that George Bush is not running for President in 2008. She needs to quit attacking Bush and explain what she intends to do if she were to be elected President.
Hillary’s attacks on Bush are a waste of America’s time and energy.

The voters of New Hampshire have the opportunity to end the Clinton empire once and for all. I hope they don’t waste this unique opportunity.
The Clinton’s are the old boy club. Stop them now.

The Republicans are scared to death of Hillary Clinton. They are working overtime on the abcnews blog.

Barack Obama was originally named “Baraka.” It is not an African name. It’s an Arabic word meaning “blessed” and comes directly from the Koran.
BTW, Obama lied about his father’s religious denomination during the DNC Convention in 2004. He said his father was a non-practicing Christian. Let’s see how the LIBERAL media uncovers this lie, as well. Don’t hold your breath.
There’s a whole BOATLOAD of info about Obama’s father and how it runs totally opposite of what he’s telling people.

It’s amazing how the media has jumped on the Obama bandwagon since the meaningless Iowa caucus. In the debate tonight Hillary showed just how strong she is and just how weak Obama and Edwards really are. Change does not come from giving good speeches but from actually working to create change. Hillary 2008! Yeah!

The only poll that matters is the one that shows the number of people who will not vote for Hillary, currently at around 56% and climbing.

Thanks Hillary for letting Americans know that she is also about change. 35 years of changing policy and the first women president is change. She was so strong tonight and looks like Obama is a losing momentum. Thought he would close with his own comments and not agree with Hillary about regrets. Go Hillary!

I want to know why Baroc Obama is calling John Edwards Senator Edwards, and Bill Richardson Govenor Richardson and Referring to Senator Clinton as Hillary? This is not only and insult to her and a way to denigrate her, but he is treating her in this manner because she is a woman. I do hope that Senator linton will bring this to the attention of the Moderators and demand the same respect as he is giving to the other Candidates. I am a woman and if I were not voting for Senator this would make me go to her corner.

It was inspiring to see Hillary tonight! She was strong, secure, and inspired. She made her points clearly and finally joked around. I think that her ease tonight will speak boatloads about her character, and let people know that she is a likable person.
Obama, as they said tonight, is a ‘likeable’ candidate. Congrats to him for being likeable. I would personally have an EFFECTIVE president, but to each his/her own I suppose.

The republicans are strongly salivating
at an Obama nomination. They have started
playing thesame dirty politics on mrs
Clinton that they played on senator John
Kerry,former Georgia senator Max Cleland
Cynthia Mackeny and a host of others. The
republicans and the media are so silent
when it comes to asking Obama his stands
on certain issues.Obama is too liberal
for the general election. Everybody know
that the voters of this country always
vote from the center. They know that the
only place that they can successfully
challenge Mrs Clinton is in the very
left of the democratic party in the
primaries. This is working for them now
but I hope the all the hard working
middle class Americans see them for what they are up to.If Obama becomes the nominee, which I hope not, watch the
slaughter.Did anyone remember what was
done to John Macain a war hero in the
2000 prmaries, treated General Collin Power like no secretary of state when
he dissagreed of going to war immediately.Obama is not ready for this job yet.The last time I checked on the
classified section of employers looking
for new emplees,it always states “only
those with experience needed”.The world
is very complex now, economy is very bad
health care needs reform. We do not need on the job training. This not a serious decision people.I care less about the people of Iowa, they never get
it right. As they say, the only time that part of the country is once in four years.Iowa does not represente
other states in this country.I think
we should this time give a woman a
chance,she has the experience,than Obama
DEMOCRATS DO NOT LET THEM TO WIN THIS
TIME.DO NOT FALL TO THEIR GAME.HILLARY,
YOU HAVE MY VOTE>

Eloise
I am not impressed with your assesment- glad you are not president. Hilary won by leaps and bounds and I was undecided until today. Reality check you need- she exposed and was great and fought back after being ganged up on by two wolves- obviosuly you have not been a woman long in politics….I am from a long lione of democrates – two governors! Obamacoment on football reminded me of Bush wanting a beer. Obamma should run in 4 years- not now- he does not have any experience and now I want brains before charisma!!!

You are spinning Hilary ….She was amazing tonight and gets my vote or would you rather have Obamma who wanted to watch football— hmmm sounds like Bush with a beer. Clinton held her own with dignity- forget charisma

I think you should cover obamma and not Hilary- you don’t get her…you really made me upset- she won on smarts and held her own and you say it was spun… What happened to the good reporters who told it like it was and didn’t spin it….Hilary represents change with experience and yes her husband was great and I love how she defended him and said reality check. Note oOBAMMA DID NOT DEFENT THE LOBBYIST Hilarry mentioned backed him… they are a very strong family- what is wrong with that! I wish I had a strong family like that.

Obama the media darling can do no wrong. I`m just puzzle why even Hannity and Rush are so in love with a liberal like Obama. I`m thinking they know they can beat him in November.

The media is working overtime to promote Obama and throw Hill under the bus.
I saw the debate last night. Hillary won.
Edwards and Obama are wimps.

What I believe most of you are missing is that given all this “experience” Hillary has ( and don’t get me wrong, I am a female and I voted for Bill twice) HER performance under attack and as the unanointed front runner was dismal. End of story) If she can’t handle this, what will she be like as POTUS in the mist of an unknown crisis and Bill keeping his you know what track record. True she is smart, capable and qualified but there is more to it than that. I’m undecided but Hillary is a no. Mitt, Obama or Edwards. It’s time to vet N.H. do your thing.

Obama is the only candidate that has been campaigning for change in Washington from day one. He is the only one to have denounced the war in Iraq from day one. He has been consistent on all the major issues. He has the vision that America needs urgently to overcome the challenges we face at home and abroad.

Obama voted FOR THE PATRIOT ACT, then had a big rally where he said “If I am President I will RESTORE HABEUS CORPUS!!” and the crowd went “YAY!!”
He took it away folks, then wants to preach about how he will give it back. Makes me sick.

Barack is terrific.. Hillary is more of the same old Washington. Bill would be running the Country..not all bad but remember the USS Cole attack when he was in office?? He did nothing. Hillary just doesn’t really have the experience except for First Lady. Also we want someone younger with bright ideas!
Posted by: vetina | January 6, 2008, 11:11 am 11:11 am
Barack and Edwards are very educated & intelligent! Either would make a terrific president. Hillary just doesn’t have it! She’s always throwing jabs at Edwards or Barack how childish! Just stick to the issues at hand we don’t want to see or hear any back stabbing please! We not paying your salary to hear that!
Posted by: vetina | January 6, 2008, 11:16 am 11:16 am
Barack Hussein Obama is the poorest canidate on the ticket. He has no experience and is another George Bush. He will cater to special interests and already has a campaign manager that lobbys for prescription drug company. He is lying his way into November.
The republicans will destroy him. Thank you idiots, I wish you well with your next republican president.

can somebody tell Hillary Clinton to tell the people what she can do if she is elected and stop all these personal attacks which is getting the voters more angrier, because the people of America are now more mature than she thinks back in the days.I can see from her face that she is becoming frustrated no matter how she presents herself.her experience of thirty five years message is getting nowhere and one big mistake she thinks she can get away with it is sending America soldiers to an unnecessary war in IRAQ.SHE GOT MORE QUESTIONS TO ANSWER FOR EVERY SINGLE SOUL THAT HAS BEEN LOST because of this stupid war.Our brave soldiers are dying for no wealthy cause.HIllary that is my message for you

Jacky O, I think that people like you are
the reason why Al Gore did not win in
the 2000 election.I do remember in one
of the debates when Al Gore was tough on
George Bush and the press went into a
spin saying that he should stop being
angry, then he made the biggest mistake
by listen to people like you and went
soft. Why can’t you pay attention on who
is will to lead from day one of the
innaguration. The last time we elected
a president because of like-ability with
no experense, look at what is happening.
Why are you people afraid of a woman
president? Look at other countries that
have had a woman as a leader,Israel,
Britain,Germany and even Liberia.What
are you afraid? Can anyone tell me? I do
believe that all these closet republicans would like Obama best and
then use scare tatics again.WAKE UP
PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY TO
ELECT A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN NOVEMBER
VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON

The dawn is breaking! The old politics and its timid generation are by the wayside. A new day in America’s greatness is breaking! From everywhere people are gravitating towards a vision, a beacon of freedom from want an uncertainty and the person who carries the beacon is Obama. Risk it! Find your courage and join in!

In Hebrew Barak means thunder. I find him though disrepectful towards Sen. Clinton and watching him since Iowa is like watching Bush in a way, strutting around like a peacock thinking he knows everything and that is scary.
Seeing Sen. Clinton show her emotions on tv, and knowing her background, I am a full supporter of her as it is time a woman runs for President in this country, like they said above, other countries have done it and succeeded.
So lets show true democracy and let a woman run this country.
