S.C. Officials: Early Voter Turnout Light

ABC News’ Karen Travers Reports: Voter turnout in the South Carolina Republican primary has been light so far, according to Chris Whitmire of the South Carolina Election Commission, but he said that is to be expected on a Saturday when people aren’t going to vote before work.

Whitmire also said the inclement weather in the state — rain and predictions of sleet and snow  — could be a factor this morning.

Polls opened at 7am in the state and officials say they are not hearing of any issues at polling stations.

Whitmire would not make any projections on turnout but said that they are prepared for "100 percent turnout," and are not expecting to run out of ballots.

I wasn’t aware that there were many
people in South Carolina working on
Saturday! i thought that most workers in the U.S. had Saturday and Sunday off!
