Edwards Pleads for Second Choice Among Non-viables

ABC News’ Raelyn Johnson Reports: John Edwards and his wife Elizabeth made a stop at his Cedar Rapids, Iowa campaign office to thank volunteers and supporters.

Introducing her husband, Elizabeth Edwards reminded those gathered about the critical moment last spring when the couple considered whether her husband’s campaign should continue after discovering her cancer was incurable.

"John always talks about what happened in March when we were deciding whether to move forward with this campaign or not, and the reason we’ve moved forward is because this change in my view would not happen without this voice."

Edwards loudly procliamed, "As for me, I’ve got this great woman with me."

A supporter shouted, "Do you have a sister?

"Actually I, would you like her number?" Elizabeth reponded.

Then Edwards made a plea of his own, asking his supporters to help his campaign in the all-important second round of balloting in tonight’s caucus.

"Reach out to any of those caucus goers whose candidates are not viable and ask them to end up at the Edwards camp. All the information indicates they’re very attracted to us so go get ‘em."

In his speech just a few moments ago, I got a glimpes of the man that I voted for as my Senator. When John Edwards speaks to the issues that he feels passionately about he is a man who deserves to be taken seriously….when he spends all of his time bashing other democratics he is wasting my time. Speak your true message Senator Edwards and I just might start listening to you.
