Romney Keeps His Message Focused on the Economy

ABC News’ Matt Stuart Reports: Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney tried to clarify comments made Monday about the importance of the economy and the war in the Middle East.

At a campaign stop in Orlando, Romney claimed that "right now the No.1 problem people are talking about as I go across the country is our economy."

Speaking with reporters in Titusville, FL, however, Romney seemed to argue that while voters were talking more about the economy, "radical violent jihad" remained the greatest threat to the United States. "I think that the number one challenge that faces America and the world is the threat of radical violent jihad and continue to believe that’s the greatest threat that we face."

Romney was also asked about regrets he’s had on the campaign trail so far. "The states I’d didn’t do as well in I’d probably put less in," Romney said, "The states I was close in I’d put in more in all right."

Asked about a national catastrophe fund, Romney said only that it "makes sense" to him but that he hasn’t "looked at a specific proposal." Romney noted that "you are not going to have very low risk homeowners, or low-risk states, subsidizing high-risk homeowners or high-risk states"

Finally, with wins by the New England Patriots and the New York Giants Sunday, Romney was asked if he’d make a friendly Superbowl bet with rival Mayor Giuliani. Romney said only, "We haven’t done that yet. I’ll have to think about that."

Well, at least he can pronunce Jihad… I guess that makes him qualified to fight the war on terror! Yeah… right. But I guess he’s right. I mean Jihad IS the number 1 threat to the economy. I mean that’s why the dollar can’t compete against the Euro, or the peso. It’s gotta be those darn jihadists. Right…. right?

Our economy will never stabilize until we have our Congress control the money supply and return to real money backed by gold or silver as required by the Constitution. WE are being exploited by the international bankers.

With the economy (not only ours in the U.S. but also worldwide as markets affeect one another) being what it is today and so many U.S. citizens experiencing real financial challenges (without a reasonable amount of hope for improvements in time), my vote is for Mitt Romney. If I had to reduce my reasons down to one or perhaps two things, as to issues and characteristics of a candidate for the Presidency, I’d say that Romney’s intelligence and experience are his key attractions in these times of economic and security concerns. Not voting for the most capable to manage and lead our nation for another four to eight years toward improvements and increased opportunities (for all) is akin to shooting onesself in the foot…on purpose.

And my key deterrants to candidates other than Romney are: those who have already had their time in D.C. and have contributed to today’s current situations, such as McCain and Clinton. I don’t understand people who continue to vote for the very same people over and over again when they’ve proven they’re responsible for the same problems over and over again. The country needs to get the problems out of D.C., not return them to D.C. AND, by the way, what’s going on with the duties and responsibilities in the Senate as to Hillary Clinton and John McCain? It’s as if they’re fulfillng elected responsibilites by fantasy only.

Mitt Romney is the only candidate who has worked in the real world creating real jobs. Obama/Clinton couldn’t set up a lemonade stand without federal subsidies.
Mitt has turned around businesses. Saving a company from wasteful spending means belt-tightening until you return to profitability, and then companies can start hiring again. Huck and Edwards think that companies can keep paying people when doing so would make the company go bankrupt! If a company goes bankrupt, everyone loses their jobs and there is no chance to ever get those jobs back.
We need someone with the education and real-world experience to turn around our economy.
Mitt Romney is presidential.
