Bad Day at Hanging Rock
Texas state Rep. Aaron Pena, the director of outreach for the Clinton campaign in the Rio Grande Valley, was spotted dancing on the dais at an Obama rally.
"I will maintain my commitment," the lawmaker told the Rio Grande Guardian. "But it appears to be increasingly evident who’s going to win."
Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s likely not a good omen if your supporters are spotted rocking out at a rally for your opponent.
The Washington Post has some further depressing news for the junior senator from New York.
Or rather, depressing news about people anticipating depressing news.
"Some supporters said they had discussed how to raise with Clinton the subject of withdrawing from the race should she fail to win decisively on March 4. One option was to wait a day or two and then dispatch emissaries to former president Clinton to urge him to make the case."
Adds someone in the know: "She knows where things are going. It’s pretty clear she has a big decision. But it’s daunting. It’s still hard to accept."
Ruh-roh.
What do you think? Are rumors of her demise premature?

Premature? NO. She should have never ran, she is not experianced or qualified, neither is her opponent. The only one QUALIFIED is MCCAIN.

for those who failed to key into disparate information on Super Tuesday it may be recalled that several towns were struck by tornadoes that day … including the town of Clinton … coincidence ?

Either Obama or Clinton would be a great segue from the failed Republican leadership we will have had for eight years. McCain would simply be a milder version of the same old thing.

The answer is YES.

I am sick to death of your smarmy negativism. As was said the other night “We’ll be fine” whatever happens. Must you consistently take the tone of a vicious 7th grader standing along thegym wall at a dance dissing a rival? It’s immature and undignified and neither of these fine candidates deserves it. here
s a novel idea: just let this phenomenon play out its natural course.

Call me quaint, but I have always thought we should let the voters actually, you know, vote, before declaring the winners of elections. That’s kind of why we have those election thingies – you know, democracy and all that. Sure, Obama has the momentum, but does the Constitution say that we decide elections based on pre-election momentum? Obama was always expected to win these last few primaries, and Clinton likely to come back in Ohio and Texas. We can guess if that’s still going to happen and what it would all mean, but to suggest that anybody drop out of the race before the voters vote is downright undemocratic. I’m actually an Obama supporter, but I still believe in democracy.

Listening to her last lines after the debate, I would guess that Hillary is preparing herself for the outcome. She is a bright woman… She can read the handwriting on the wall. It will be hard for her to step down; this has been the dream of her and Bill since he left office – to retake the Whitehouse and relive their dream again and fix what they did wrong. We would like, at times, to return to our glory days. But… it is time for a break from the past and move in the direction of real future of the nation. Barak Obama is that future.

Before Democrats make a huge mistake. John McCain is beating Obama in todays head to head match-up (Rasmussen Reports.com) More voters are supporting Hillary against McCain Than Obama (44-43%) Nationally Obama’s lead over Clinton is down to 1%. The National Media is becoming scared that Hillary will overtake Obama in the next week and that is why they are trying to end this. Hillary – Keep doing what you are doing!

Women are to be workers at home the Bible says at Titus 2:4,5 so where does this so called faith in God come from that Hillary claims to have? Who is she putting faith in if she is not obedient to the Universal Sovereign? At Proverbs a capable with is described at chapter 31:10-31 and does not include women in politics. So why would we ever want someone who is disobedient to God to make decisions affecting our lives?

McCain is indeed qualified, but he also abandoned his principle to cater to the republican base. Its funny how the online conservatives talk about they respect a man with conviction (but only if it is their conviction). Although I have heard a lot of Die-hard conservatives here in Idaho tell me they are thinking of voting for Obama or not at all… and the NYT had no effect or raised doubts. But the NYT stroy shouldn’t matter. I take issue with McCain’s abandonment of his fiscal responsibilty in favor of popular tax cuts. He is no longer a maverick, he is an old war hero, that has been subjected to more mistreatment by his own party and the press than he deserved after what he experienced. He was slammed for his principles, and had to support things he did not believe in.
I only hope that if he manages to squeak out out a win in the general election. He feels reinvigorated enough to return to his fiscal roots and renege on his current position. But I still won’t vote for him.
I like Obama’s conviction… and his positions.

She’ll drop out, either (1) a few days after Mar 4, with a little coaxing and cajoling from other Dem power players, or (2) a few days before Mar 4 if the poll numbers look bad enough and she thinks she can get some extra good will from it.

All the women I know now boycott the extremely biased TV coverage of the discriminatory debasing treatment of Senator Clinton–especially by all the “Broadcasters” on MSNBC. They no longer deserve to be called journalists. What we see is the modern day media stoning to death of a woman. And the worst case of Schadenfreude in the history of the human race. All the while giving a pass to the black male candidate who has all of 24 months of experience on the Federal government level. Because, as American women have now been TOLD by Howard Fineman of the mess MSNBC/Newsweek: the first viable black male candidate for president is MORE HISTORIC and MORE Important than the first viable woman candidate for US President. Fineman’s misogynistic history is alive and well. Question his “Experience”??? Why bother! He’s charismatic! We wonder, what would the primary election have been like if the US press had not completely passed on the opportunity to cover it as the historic run it has been by the first viable woman candidate for the presidency, who has run a successful national campaign and is now one of the last two candidates standing. Not one word of THAT historic journey from Senaca Falls, NY to August 20, 1920, to Senator Hillary Clinton runs for President of the United States.
For me, I find it terribly insulting to my intelligence as a pro-active citizen to have a man who has only 24 months of experience at the federal level run for president of the United States, on a platform built entirely of spouting 1990′s New Age Self-Help book passages. If you think his lifting of Patrick’s speech was in bad form (college students are expelled for what Barack has done); you should really “tune in” and hear his paraphrasing of every NY Times best-selling 1990′s New Age Self Help Book. “You Can Change Your Life.” “The Healing of America.” Etc. It goes on and on. It is all fluff. To credit appropriately, “There is No THERE there.” Add to that, Barack has ZERO (0) Military Experience, Zero Foreign Policy Experience; Zero International Diplomacy Experience. Apparently, the gravitas of a US Presidential meeting (let alone negotiations) will have no worth and value in a Barack administration. Gee, THAT’s gonna come in handy. And the most liberal voting record in the US Senate. And, and the US is at war in count ‘em 2, that’s 2 Arabian countries. The next president inherits George Bush 2nd’s decision to take the US Military deep into Arabia. And the guy has NO Military or International EXPERIENCE!!! Don’t be so quick to dismiss the expertise of Senator McCain. What you all fail to realize is that Battle-Tested (let alone POW Tested!), older REAL Military men tend to be very conservative committing the US Military to war. They know what the real cost is. It is the presidents with NO military experience who tend to be cavalier with that commitment. But what we have here in the US is the “Oprah President” being propelled straight to victory. Senator Clinton has the powerful leaders of the World’s Countries on her speed dial. And Barack has Oprah and Gail. God Bless (Help) America. Posted by Miss America at BBC News…. Well said!

I think both campaigns have the internal pollsters. Somehow, they could predict the outcome of the voting earlier than the major networks. For example, in WI I sensed that the Hillary’s campaign knew they were to lose, downplaying the importance of WI and moved on to next States. If their internal numbers suggest that she would lose TX and OH, it’s very likely she will drop out before the election.
If the numbers indicate only to the TX lose, she may go on. However, if that’s the case, she will drop out a couple of days after March 4th.

Hillary lost many of us with her vote to authorize the Iraq war. That poor calculation made her (along with McCain and most of the Republicans) indirectly responsible for tens of thousands of civilian deaths. Dozens of senators and representatives had the good judgment to vote against the war. Unfortunately, she was not among them.

Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama Sr. (black muslim) of Nyangoma-Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya, and Ann Dunham of Wichita, Kansas. (white atheist ).When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced and his father returned to Kenya. His mother married Lolo Soetoro — a Muslim — moving to Jakarta with Obama when he was six years old. Within six months he had learned to speak the Indonesian language. Obama spent “two years in a Muslim school, then two more in a Catholic school” in Jakarta. Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim while admitting that he was once a Muslim, mitigating that damning information by saying that, for two years, he also attended a Catholic school.Obama’s father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was a radical Muslim who migrated from Kenya to Jakarta, Indonesia. He met Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham-a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas-at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obama, Sr. and Dunham divorced when Barack, Jr. was two.Obama’s spinmeisters are now attempting to make it appear that Obama’s introduction to Islam came from his father and that influence was temporary at best.In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya immediately following the divorce and never again had any direct influence over his son’s education.Dunham married another Muslim, Lolo Soetoro who educated his stepson as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta’s Wahabbi schools. Wahabbism is the radical teaching that created the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad on the industrialized world.Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when you are seeking political office in the United States, Obama joined the United Church of Christ to help purge any notion that he is still a Muslim.Handsome . . . Charming . . . Winsome . . . Dangerous . . . Deceptive . . . Determined…..DEADLY…. AND NOW DOOMED!

Obama is in the lead for one main reason – he is the media’s darling. Nearly every so called piece of journalism I read is biased in his favor. As a voter, I have not yet decided and would like to be able to count on media outlets to provide facts and information for both sides, to help us “undecided” voters. But the media is too busy putting nails in the Clinton coffin before she’s been declared DOA. Responsible journalism should take a more neutral approach and provide facts and information. If I wanted opinions, I’d be watching a talk show or going to the campaigns directly. The media has a higher responsibility – never before has it so clearly been part of the persuasion and problem. Much like CNN going over her January expenditures line item by line item, but yet not supplying one piece of info about Obama’s spending? That’s hardly fair. I guess the media has made up its mind already but I have not. It aint over til its over, let’s see how it all plays out before declaring Obama victor.

I remain a committed Barak Obama supporter. In my opinion, he changes how we look at ourselves and what is possible; and because of that, greatness from all of us in solving problems is expected.
This takes nothing away from Senator Clinton. She is honorable, she is tough and she is wise. If you were in the political fight of your life, wouldn’t you want the Senator along with you?

I think Obama has been much more resourceful and competent in running his campaign. He certainly has shown a greater executive ability. I mean, the Clintons thought they would have the whole thing wrapped-up by Super Tuesday and did not plan for any complications or set-backs and were completely unable to make adjustments as the dynamics of the race changed on them. They ran out of money by February 5th after having raised $140 million. An important skill to have as a C.E.O is the ability to make adjustments when the original plan runs into trouble, and on that point, I think Obama has run circles around them as the C.E.O of his campaign. He definitely has out-strategized them so far.

Amanda,
Just because people don’t vote for Clinton, doesn’t mean that they are misogynists. It simply means we don’t like the person. I know that there are people out there who will vote FOR and AGAINST someone simply because of their race/gender, but this is not what drives most of us. I never thought I would live to see the day, but here we are and I am ready for the change.

Even more incredible, her opponent Sen. What scares me most about Hillary is her belief that the government will and can do everything for everyone and that the way to do it is to shift wealth from those who work hard and smart for it and give it to those who have their hand out for more. Its all about what I will do for you not what you need to do for yourself. She criticized Obama that he expects people to finance part of health care but she wants goverment to give it to them. Scary.
She patronizes people just to get their votes as she has always done. She ran for the Senate the second time and was asked why because she was going to run for Prsident and she said she hadn’t made up her mind. Then 2 weeks later does?
Hillary wants to take care of all the “below” middle class just for power and take everything away from those who earn it. She believes in government controlling everything.
Look at her past people and don’t get blinded by the fact that she is a woman therefore I need to vote for her.And what accomplishements as she had?
Look, I am not an Obama or John McClain fan but at least with them you know what you are going to get and with her you will find out her true colors.
There are better woman than her that should be running for President and if one did I would vote for her.

This is completely absurd and premature. First of all there’s still the issue of Michigan and Florida, with whose delegates she’s still winning and without whose delegates obama can never win the white house. His handicapps are bad enough without stiking off Florida and Michigan and everyone else who thinks votes should count before the race for the white house even begins.
Second of all there are still polls with Clinton in the lead and all of them except one show them tied with in the margin of error.
Why should she concede anything? These so called aides should be fired.
Wow you people will wake up with one hell of a hangover when this incompeteent man loses the white house in November for Democrats again.

Yes, there’s’ probably some truth to the point that Obama’s in the lead b/c he’s the media’s darling. But remember he’s the media’s darling b/c he earned it. He ran a clean, uplifting campaign that has inspired folks to get off the couch and participate in politics again. Like the superdelegates of late, the media is moving toward Obama b/c the masses of people are.

The media outlets are trying to control this race. No one in the media outlets reported the statement Obama made during the debate that his ‘healthcare is not good right now’. Obama clearly made this comment during the debate over healthcare plan some one should ask them why do he feels that his healthcare plan is not good.
Posted by: voteforme008 | February 23, 2008, 11:47 am 11:47 am
Did anybody notice during the debate, Obama was telling about his accomplishments and his only actural detail was an important piece of legistation that he “fought hard for” and got it passed, but it was killed by the other side. Minutes later he was proclaiming himself to have the ability to bring both sides of the isle together to get things done. This is what is meant by “empty words”.

Hilary CRIED FOR VOTES IN NH, and got a reprieve from overly sensitive Americans who are suckers for those who are willing to ‘do a Hollywood’ and ‘cry me a river’, even ‘crying on demand’. lol
The longer Hilary goes on, the greater will be the Clintons’ humiliation, especially since Hilary will be too old to run again.
Also, the Clintons’ continued clinging onto “false hope” (where have be heard that phrase before? wink wink) is likely contribute to Democrats AGAIN skillfully snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Doesn’t every candidate complain against the press though? Everyone thinks the press biased against them. Hillary’s problem was not the media. Her campaign just made too many mistakes. She ran as the experience candidate and in truth she doesn’t have that much more experience than Barack.

I think rumors of her demise IS premature. Hillary shouldn’t drop out now because all it will take is one BIG scandal to wipe Obama out. And that scandal is coming soon once the Rezko connection gets vetted by the press. What property seller in this day and age gives ANYBODY a $300,000 discount off the selling price of a 1.6M house? Seems Obama got that hefty discount because Rezko’s wife bought the lot next to Obama’s house (being sold by the same seller) for above selling price. Obama claims it was just a “bone-headed mistake” to have brought Rezko into the deal, even though at the time Rezko was under investigation for fraud. I guess getting a 1.6m home was more important to Obama than buying one he could afford and keeping his integrity. How many more “bone-headed mistakes” will he be making in the White House? This man’s a charlatan and the sooner people come out of their trance and see him for what he is, the sooner the Dems will move on to elect someone that can and will win in November. This “package” deal smells to high heaven and is something the media should be looking into now, before we choose Obama as our candidate and have to forfiet the election in November.

I think Hillary’s campaign under-estimated Obama. They did not have the right strategy to run against him. By the way, how much pizza can 95K get you in Iowa.

Yes, there’s’ probably some truth to the point that Obama’s in the lead b/c he’s the media’s darling……..SOME truth??? That’s the WHOLE truth! If it wasn’t for the media giving him so much attention, he would have NEVER become the front runner… because no one would have known who he is and what he’s done…. well, we all know by now who he is…. it’s just that a lot of us still don’t know what he’s done, that is, what his record of experience is……

I think most of you people will regret voting for Obama. I really believe what the bible says and I think we will destroy
this country from within. I know most of you will laugh at me, but I really believe he has ties to the middle east and is the candidate that Osoma bin laden and his followers want for our country. I know no one believes me but most historians will agree.

BarackLash:
Please read conservative columnist George Will’s recent piece on experience (i.e., Buchanan v. Lincoln). Good judgment is far more important than experience. On that score, Obama is head and shoulders above Clinton and McCain, neither of whom could see that the Iraq war was a disasterous decision. I would love my daughter to see the first woman president–but not one who is indirectly responsible for the deaths of countless Iraqi children.

Democratic chances of winning Florida and Michigan in November have nothing to do with whether the convention seats non-delegates from their undemocratic non-primaries. No one who prefers the Democrat to McCain is going to vote the other way in November just to punish the DNC for adhering to its very clear rules as to when primaries could be held. If the nomination is stolen by cheating and changing the rules after the fact, however, that could very well destroy the chances of victory in November. It’s time for Hillary to stop the spin, and do the right thing.

At the debate, it seemed like she was resigned that she won’t be the nominee. My dad thinks she will drop out of the race before the voting is held in Ohio and Texas. In every state, Obama starts out 20 points behind her in the polls, then he catches up to her, and then he overtakes her in the last few days to win by double digits. The race is dead heat now in TX. She will drop out in TX before the voting (kinda like john edwards did before super tuesday) so she can keep her viability for a cabinet position.

WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND? HILLARY SUPPORTERS TELL YOUR CANDIDATE TO SHOW US HER TAX RETURNS, NOT AFTER THE ELECTIONS LIKE SHE SAID BUT NOW, DONT YOU THINK AMERICANS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE SHE GOT THE 5 MILLION TO LOAN HER CAMPAIGN? DONT WE DESERVE THE TRUTH HRC SUPPORTERS, DONT WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?

It’s a long way to nomination by the PARTY and then to November. Mr Obama has the capacity to trip over something! Simply because of his lack of judgement in planning positive steps to accomplish his “Change”! HOW is more important and that question is now starting to surface, without a good answer coming out of him!
It is “fashionable and cool” to the college voters, who like most youngsters can be fickle even down to the wire and take off on a different hoola hoop! Don’t count Hillary out yet! Staffs can be changed and time has not run out yet! When folks really look at the McCain threat…..the hoop may change!

To UGOCHUKWV, Feb 23.
If you still consider relegions in guiding our America, you are pitiful and pathetic.Islam and Christianity would not solve our problems. It is the loyalty, patriotism, and the social and political utopia in which our America and Obama will establish a society that is striving toward perfection. Relegious utopia has passed away. Wake up.

I would still like to see a convention fight like in the old days. I guess that is just not feasible in the modern era but it would be exciting to see. When you have a chance read up on the 1880 Republican Convention. It was James Garfield’s dark horse campaign that was one of the longest conventions ever. Exciting stuff for political buffs!

Strategizing by the GOP…pretty smart actually. I used to be a Republican. I switched parties over a decade ago and have been voting Democrat ever since. However, Obama’s inexperience and possible Muslim ties scare me enough that I would consider voting against my own party in November. I cannot stand the Republican administration but I would trust McCain over Obama. At least he has experience. But of course, that’s what half the media and the GOP are counting on. I am not racist or a bigot, but I do believe the Muslim connection is a scary one, in light of our situation with terrorists and the entire global community. Obama should be a preacher or a talk show host (I’m sure Oprah would produce him), not a President. Not yet anyway. Our country should not be so quick to align ourselves with a Muslim or anyone of Muslim decent, with the current state of affairs. Hillary may not be perfect, but as a candidate, as a person, as an American, we know her far better. Obama is an enigma who tries to blend in and redefine his heritage. Is he even sure of who he is? That’s part of the attraction, but part of the fear. As Americans, we cannot afford to be so adventurous as to sign up for 4 years of the unknown, based on a bunch of feel good rhetoric. He may be a great candidate, in 10 or 20 years, after he’s proven himself as someone to trust and someone who can effect change. Hillary was changing the world when he was still in diapers. Her and former President Clinton were leaders and activists, standing firmly for their beliefs for the last several decades. At least we know what we are getting with Hillary. If he is nominated, I would venture to say that at least 25% of the Democratic base will vote against him. McCain’s liberal enough to turn a few key voters. So, for TRUE democrats who want to WIN in November, you might want to consider which candidate the GOP really wants to run against? People love Obama now, but when push comes to shove in November, the GOP will not hold any stops and they could destroy what we all have tried to build. We need change, but change we can count on.

Hillary will get out of the race graciously because she doesn’t want McCain to use her lines over and over again in the fall against Obama and have that attributed to her. I think she still wants to try again in 2012 if Obama fails to beat McCain ’08.

The one thing that I have learned from this election is how biased the media really is. In the past I think I probably just took most of the articles at face value without really looking into them. I am a democrat and have never liked Bush but I am starting to wonder if a big part of the reason is because of the biased media. Kind of scary. I am starting to see that the “entitlement” mentality of Obama is not what this country needs and will vote for McCain in the general election.
Posted by: jas | February 23, 2008, 12:05 pm 12:05 pm
During this Democratic primary, most so-called objective media is extremely biased and in favor of Obama.
Voters need to be taught about a real Obama before they can make their decisions. However, it is very obvious that the media already made-up their mind for voters regarding which candidate to choose.
Americans may likely regret for their choice years after today. Being an immigrant who studied Economics, I could tell that so many things need to be fixed, and I am very worried about this country and what Americans may have to face.

Since it’s obvious that Obama will be the Democratic Candidate in the final election, I decided to take a deeper look into his tenure in the Senate. The Global Poverty Act of 2007 jumps out instantly and, on the surface of it, sounds wonderful. Not being satisfied with surface info, I dug deeper wanting to know what the guidelines are and what specific steps will be required to achieve this goal. I found a lot of blogs/ commentaries, etc. on this topic but, as everyone knows, those a “tainted” opinions. No where could I find a factual, reliable site that gives specifics on this Act. It could be the answer to world poverty or it could spell disaster to the world. Shouldn’t we all delve deeper into this and find out for sure? It’s never been a question/platform on either side and, frankly that sends terror through my mind.

So what does everyone think of the “messiah” passing up an appearance at the State of the Black Union in New Orleans because he’s too busy campaigning for the presidency? These are the same people who voted overwhelmingly for him in the primary and this is how he repays them. Hillary on the other hand, down in the polls still has time to attend this event and show her support to the voters who turn their backs on her. As a Black American, my vote is with Hillary.

This is not over.
Rassmussen tracking shows Obama losing ground since February 14th. February 13th was his highest polling day ever, in all polls. Clinton’s worst.
She was at 37% over a four day average on Feb 14th, He was at 49%. Hillary has consistently gone up since the, to 43% today again over a four day average. Obama is at 44%.
Since the 14th, Hillary has gone up 6% Obama has gone down 5%.
She was also down by 7% in Gallup’s polling but has since regained the lead. Two polling companies show Hillary’s support to be quite solid.
He spent 5 times what she did in Wisconsin and she wasn’t supposed to win any of these states in late February. Her support has far from bottomed out, and his surge is long since past by about one week.
There is no reason why she can’t still win and there is no evidence to show this race is over or that people have stopped supporting her.

Yes, they all cry about the media, although I’ve yet to hear myself anything from the Obama camp about the untruths scattered around about him; other than just responding to them and presenting the truth. This is simply a sloppy campaign being run by Hillary and her advisers, all the way down to her tacky website that I found even insulting to my intelligence. This by far the reason why she is sitting where she is today and has very little to do with the media. Anyway, that all said, I think we should all try and move forward, and as Obama said once in an interview- ” We’ve started something here and now we have to finish it.” I think that this will all be over much sooner than we could have thought, especially with McCain already entangled in all of his Lies and scandels that have begun before the presidential race even gets itself started.

No, rumors of Clinton’s demise are not premature. She already knows that she has lost the election. Her performance and behavior in the last debate shows this beyond a doubt. If that isn’t enough to convince us, we need only pay attention to Bill Clinton’s comments last week. He would NEVER have said such a thing if he didn’t already know the couse was lost. He’s much to smart of a politician for that. No, the Clinton team does their own internal polling. They understand that Obama is probably going to win both states and if he doesn’t, he’ll only lose by a few votes. MOreover, super-delegates are quietly abandoning Clinton. She may be ambitious, but she’s a Democrat first. She (and everyone else) understands that a long, protracted campaign that ends with super-delegates deciding who the nominee will be, at the convention no less, is the equivalent of handing the election to John McCain. So after March 4th, Clinton will withdraw. Her staff is already laying the groundwork for this.

The flag which represents freedom, liberty, and a reminder of our fallen soliders fighting for our freedom. Everyone is not looking at the issues but at the hype that is around him. The Clintons are masters of deceit. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if the campaign aide was there on the Clintons’ orders to both lull the Obamites into a false sense of security and to pick up some intel if he could. As much as I feel that Clinton has no more experience to be President than has Obama and would, in addition, divide this nation if elected, I seriously doubt that she would give up the campaing without a fight and that she bitterly contest and challenge a loss of the party nomination on the basis of Michigan and Florida.

Tracy and other like minded fellow Americans,
Please check the facts not the spin.
Individually, we can all share some horror stories of our daily struggles to stay afloat.
We, as a nation, are presently living with the results of failed policies, failed promises, and Washington double speak. Our lives how been turnes upside down. Our entire planet is in peril of sinking further into this abyss if we continue to be duped by all this ‘experience’.
The Democrats left us with a balanced checkbook.
The Republicans took over. Not only did they spend every time in the Treasury, but we in currently in debt to the tune of $9.5 TRILLION DOLLLARS AND COUNTING!!
There is no price tag that we can place on lives of
our fellow Americans who gave their all. Let us not forget those who did come back wounded and forever changed.
We can not, in all good conscience, vote for a man
who will continue the disasterous policies of the
Bush Admininstration.
The Clintons had their moment in history.
This country has a fierce urgency for change. We can not expect different results from the past if we keep embracing it.
Barack Obama has the vision and leadership qualities that will turn this country around.
We must demonstrate to the rest of the world that we,as a nation, are willing to listen even if we are not in complete agreement. I dare say we may even learn from that experience.
Thank you for your attention.

Hillary brought her defeat onto herself. Hillary came into this campaign with her typical “empress Hillary” mentallity. She really thought she had the nomination in the bag and that everyone would fall at her feet. She never counted on Obama beating her. Also, I am like many people; Hillary is an wrinkly faced, ruthless, stoney hearted, power hungry old bat and Obama is a young handsome black man that cleary represents change. Hillary represents the old guard hypocrits of the liberal left and is wife to a president that gave the country scandals and the war on terror through his own ineptness.

HRC’s final words during the debate, I believe, were from her heart. Her words and actions after the tragic death of the police officer yesterday show her to be a compassionate person. However, I also heard a great amount of kind, heartfelt, compassionate words spoken by our current President after 9/11. My point is that I don’t think being compassionate and showing a ‘softer side’ translates into being a good President. She has become conciliatory since she has fallen behind. Before that, she divided and polarized, and that is my main reason for not voting for her. I hope her expressions were sincere. Either way, I have this nagging feeling that she is waiting to see what reaction her concilliatory remarks have in the polls before she decides to drop out before (no gain) or after (if she doesn’t win big) the primaries in OH and NY.

The Chicago Tribune reported, “His campaign, sensing the issue was dominating campaign news, had earlier made clear he had not worn such a pin for years. ‘I’m less concerned about what you are wearing on your lapel than what’s in your heart,’ he said under a county fairgrounds pavilion here, a giant American flag draped behind him. ‘You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those ones who served.’ He suggested that some politicians who wear such pins act in disingenuous ways. ‘After a while, you know, you start noticing people wearing a lapel pin, but not acting very patriotic, not voting to provide veterans with the resources that they need,’ he said.” [Chicago Tribune, 10/5/07]

I fear an Obama win. Apparently, Obama is getting so cocky he is telling everyone not to tell him he isn’t “tough.” That is the kind of man the crowds are following. This was a brief snip on the news but it was plainly said. I couldn’t believe the audacity so I played it back several times. Yes, he said that. The people are being led down the primrose path by a self-absorbed narcissist. The bandwagon effect is in full play and the crowds have totally lost their critical powers.

I too am a Black American and life long Democrat, but if Obama is the nominee I’m also planning to vote Republican as a protest to the DNC for fielding an inexperienced, “not ready for prime time candidate”, who’ll be eaten up in seconds in the general campaign.

An important skill to have as a C.E.O is the ability to make adjustments when the original plan runs into trouble, and on that point, I think Obama has run circles around them. He definitely has out-strategized them so far.

Dear Alice,
Thank you so much for answering my post. I checked it out and found this: “U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP in increased foreign aid spending would add $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already spends.”
It seems so vital for American voters to grasp the ramifications of this before making their final selections. I’ve been an Obama proponent for several years but, even I need to delve deeper and find as many answers to questions that will affect the future of this country.
Please, please, people…check this out before you choose. Be informed not just an emotional parrot.

DMK – Two questions. First, why can’t it be that African Americans are voting for Senator Obama because they feel he is the best candidate? It’s ironic that the same individuals who say racism is over and that we should be a color-blind society are the first ones to say that a black candidate’s popularity is based on his race. You can’t have it both ways.
Second, 100% of white voters have voted for white men in every general election in this nation’s history. Does that mean that they are voting based on race, or does your point only apply when it’s a non-white candidate? Again, you can’t have it both ways.

Ken, did you read my words. I saw it on a news cast in San Antonio last night. Of course, it was very brief…Obama was introducing himself in his usual way and then he finalized the introduction with those words. I was utterly shocked!

Obama will win the nomination and in the General election, he will win NY, NJ, CA, and all of the other states Hillary won, however he will lose Florida, Ohio, Texas, all of the south, the west and the lower midwest. In the end the country will be evenly divided, as we always are, and the Repubs will take the white house, again, because we are too stupid to realize that OBAMA cannot win. The White Man, propelling Obama victories to momentum will abandon him in the General Election, leaving Obama will the ultraliberal and black vote. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

To: All Obama Supporters
I’d like you to know that people around the world are laughing at Americans. They think Americans are so obsessed with “celebrity” that they can’t even stop for a minute and look at substance. You are acting like sheep blindly following a man who people in politics outside of this country see as a “lightweight.” They can’t believe that Americans are giving their time to someone who has not been tested, has little experience working inside of Washington, and has avoided voting on key issues. This is no different from those who follow Oprah blindly even when she has subtly spewed all sorts of racist messages. It’s this blind faith that is going to keep America at a standstill. It’s very reminiscent of the blind faith and hope we had in President Bush. Need I say more. Well, experience my friends is important when you are dealing with Washington. You have to know how to get things done quickly and efficiently inside the infrastructure. Hillary is the only true canidate who has had plans from day 1 of opening of the Democratic election. Hillary is the only one who is not leaving out 15 Million Americans in Health Care,, despite how Obama tried to deny this, his plan simply is a copy of Hillary’s and leaves out American’s. Obama also wants to fine Americans who do not have Health Insurance. If we can not afford it in the first place, how are we going to pay a fine, and than you leave American’s open to not seeking health care and dying at home because we will not go to ER’s for help. Hillary is the only with real plans, to solve the tough issues from day 1. Hillary is the only canidate who will support our Troops coming home from war, who will support the Americans in Forclosure, and give America a sound economy again. Obama is going to spend the first 4 years just getting adjusted to that culture, and part and parcel of this will be others pulling the strings. Kennedy and Kerry, I’m sure, are eager to fill that position. It’s a daunting task to undertake, so if you want a man who will be looking for his way around for another 4 years, well be my guest and vote for him. So, though there will be many changes for him in the first 4 years, don’t expect things to change for the better for you. Tread carefully and vote for substance and not for elusive hope if you really want CHANGE! Denise in Albrightsville, PA

If Obama cares so much about our Soldiers why did not immediately report the Rifle Company Captain concerns about the ammunition and weapon to the Senator John Warner. Instead Obama did nothing but hold on to the information to use when he needed it to use during the debate. If one of our Solders asks for help from Obama why did he not go the extra mile to help address the Captain’s concerns?
During the debate Barak Obama stated that he spoke with a Rifle Company Captain that stated it was easier for them to take weapons from the Taliban and use them than it was to get U.S. ammunition, and weapons, as well as Humvees for transportation. Senator John Warner who sits on the Armedes oversight committee with Hillary Clinton sent a letter to Barak Obama asking him to produce the Captain that made the statement.
ABC interviewed the Captain and stated that the Captain backed up Obama’s story, although they would not disclose the Captains name ( good job ABC). Still not satisfied? CNN interviewed the same Captain and confirmed the same story.

The idea that the media is driving the narrative that Hillary needs to drop out before Texas and Ohio is absurd.
Look, I’m an ardent Clinton supporter and a realist (the two go together), and I think things look pretty bleak. But until all the votes are counted on March 4th, Hillary is going to stay in this race, and anyone who is suggesting otherwise needs to “get real.”

A question for all that say “Hussein Obama” like it’s a negative. YOU are the racists that people talk about. Do us a favor, please. At least have the guts to not hide behind the “America is not ready for a black/muslim president” line. The truth is…YOU are not ready for a black/muslim president. And based on the growing Obama juggernaut, it’s clear that your views do not represent the views of America.

Well it is about time! All other media outlets are talking about Obama’s patriotism. Hmmmm, funny, this network has 3 doom and gloom for Hillary headlines. This man does not walk on water. His lack of patriotism has been an issue for quite some time for some of us. It’s about time the media called attention to this matter. You can not possibly unify a country if you can not even honor your country. I am ashamed that the American public has let this rock star slide. When we have stopped applauding the man for blowing his nose maybe we need to consider the issues. I would also like to take a moment to talk about the black vote. It is my opinion that Obama could possibly be the whitest person running. Shame on the black community for not checking which candidate has helped people of color move forward in this country;it certainly would not be Obama. It is said that Mrs. Clinton lost the support of the black community because of comments made by her husband. The man is human; and any man who has watched the media batter his wife, in the way she has been, needs to step up. I am sure she has done the same for him. Which reminds me, the candidate that is going to win has to be able to face and win the battle. Do we think Obama can take this, heck no!

Obama’s supporters react angrily against Hillary’s claim that she offers action, Obama only words. But she has a point: Not in a long time has a candidate sought the presidency on the basis of a record as slight as Barack Obama’s. His supporters compare him to Abraham Lincoln, who served only a single term in Congress before winning election as president. A better analogy might be William Jennings Bryan, who won the Democratic nomination in 1896 on the power of a great convention speech. Obama too gave a great speech in 2004. Beyond that, there is only guesswork, hope and fantasy.
Supporters of a strong American foreign policy will of course prefer John McCain to either Democrat. But if a Democrat it must be, Hillary Clinton seems the better choice for a national security voter. Largely for that very reason, Clinton’s party has chosen otherwise.
If Obama does win the nomination and the presidency, he will face some very difficult realities with very little preparation. At that point, many Democrats — and not a few Republicans — may find themselves recalling Hillary Clinton’s prophetic warnings that there is all the difference in the world between making speeches and effective government.

McCain is unqualified for a number of reasons, but the most glaring is his personality – the guy is a compulsive, hot head. We love him for his war record, but that is not a qualification for president.

Tom – It’s clear that you would not vote for Obama if his name was John Smith. It has nothing to do with his support or non-support of people in Kenya. It has to do with the fact that you’re still living in the 1960s and harbor racist sentiments that will keep you from voting for a black man.

I am a registered independant which put me out of the primary in Az. I think John McCain is a good candidate but he is not my candidate. His stance on the war has scared me off.The reason i’m posting is because there is someting up with CNN. They appear to be trying to push voters towards Barack Obama. They bash McCain in most broadcasts I have watched, even before the Aid thing which I believe has little substance.
I have watched the Clinton-Obama debates to include the most recent one. Democratic seems the way to go this election But what i’m hearing from the CNN political analysts post debate is not what I heard during the debate. It seems like they are pushing Obama down my throat. Does anybody else get that from CNN?

You know everyone keeps forgetting that Obama was NOT in the Senate when the vote to go to war in Iraq was made. Any fool outside not having to actually VOTE on the decision can say they’re against the war and make speeches against it. So I’m not impressed with Obama saying he would never have voted yes. Today Obama quotes Martin Luther King jnr, but in his college days it was the autobiography of militant Malcolm X that grabbed his attention more than any other black writer. “His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me,” Obama has said. This also was the period when Obama stopped using the nickname “Barry” in favour of his full name.

I think she may be waiting to see what reaction her recent concilliatory remarks have in the polls before she decides to drop out. She may try a last ditch effort to drag up some dirt on Obama, but, that could be a dangerous move and further alienate some voters. She is politically savvy. And, although she says she worries about how I’m going to pay my mortgage and keep my job, I suspect she spends a lot more time trying to figure out how to get the nomination. We’ve seen her react under pressure, and it’s not with the grace and compassion she has when she has time to ‘plan’ her remarks.

For e.g. When Michelle Obama goofed up, CNN had not a single link on their website & did not cover it on the air. Frankly the argument that Barack is hollow and there is nothing there just doesn’t work. It doesn’t work for Hillary. If you watched the debate, they were both arguing about whose health care is better. You can not argue with him about his health care propopsal and then claim that he doesn’t have any policies. Hillary used to be very dismissive of Barack but then at the debate she said she was absolutely honored to be with him. I think she envies him. With older democrats it has nothing to do with race. We have seen Hillary Clinton fight for democratic party principles and values for a long , long time. We have also witnessed the media destroy the Clinton campaign and promote the inexperienced, unaccomplished Obama. 62% of the voters in Iowa which is a neighboring state of Illinois voted against Obama after he has recieved free media coverage in the State for the past 4 years. HRC attacks Obama in S.C. for inexperience it is spun by the media as a racist attack. news organizatio9ns have flooded their talk shows with anti- Hillary, pro Obama individuals. John McCain for 4 years to me, as an individual who has voted Democrat their whole life, looks alot better than Obama. (maybe Obama can meet with dictators and Tyrants the next 4 years)Not In THE WHITE HOUSE!

People who are uneducated are more likely to join a cult than the educated. More educated people are voting for Obama than Clinton. I’ve got an educated question for all of you Clinton supporters. She is experienced right? isn’t that your argument for voting for her? if she can not even balance her campaign budget from her Lobyist funded Clinton machine, How do you expect her to balance the national budget?

It’s funny that the obsessive anti-Obama folks can’t decide if they are more terrified of blacks, Muslims, or gays. The fact that Obama is neither Muslim nor gay doesn’t slow them up – I guess they figure if he is a bad person he must be all three. So why DO bigotry and conservatism go hand-in-hand?

John McCain is an American hero. But the fact is, he is in the wrong party. George Bush’s policies have been a disaster for this country. The damage is so much that it is depressing to think about. During Bush’s reign, our national debt has gone from 4.7 trillion to 9 trillion. It was very stupid to (1) cut taxes (2) launch an expensive, pre-emptive war (3) increase spending at the same time. The result has been an absolute disaster for the American people.

Will you Hillary lovers stop crying already. You guys sound worse then she does with the excuses and reasons why Obama is cleaning her clock. Eleven straight wins by Obama doesn’t lie. The majority of the country has had enough of the Clinton politics. Hillary’s once huge leads in Texas and Ohio are down to nothing and come March 4th Obama will put an end to Hillary’s run.

But the truth is, Hillary doesn’t have that much more experience than Barack. She was in the senate three more years than he was but that’s about it. The whole experience argument was wrong for her.

I am personally kind of sad that I have to choose between Barack and Hillary. It’s too bad that both ran in the same year. I think Hillary would have endorsed Barack right off the bat is she wasn’t running. Bill Clinton would have also campaigned for Barcack if his wife wasn’t running. There are a lot of problems with the Clintons but I think Hillary is better than any Republican.

The writing is on the wall. We all can see it and so can Hillary.
Hillary’s demeanor has changed somewhat, she appears more sullen. It was Hillary’s inability to interpret and respond to the voters that failed her. Her implication that some states are more important than others, that only certain demographics counted and her a win-at-all-costs attitude served only to alienate voters. She should bow out gracefully so that the Democrats can begin the healing process. Its time to move on.

“Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Spanish/American philosopher George Santayana.
Obama says Hillary Clinton will not bring change. He is right. Hillary will bring progress.
Those who were not involved to experience the past did not gain the knowledge that must be retained. They lack what is needed to progress the issues of health care, the economy, jobs, and to redirect resources from the Iraq War to the fight on terrorism.
Obama wants us to forget and eliminate those who possess the knowledge gained during those fights, as if by doing so there can be progress.
Obama was not in the fight for health care, when the insurance companies brought change that defeated any hope for progress.
Obama was not in the Senate fight that authorized the use of force to combat terrorism when the President changed the intelligence that doomed the plan.
Obama was not in the fight that brought prosperity and jobs during the 90’s, or when but Bush made the changes that doomed the economy.
If these issues demand progress, then Hillary will be the right President.
For anyone who would doubt that change cannot bring progress, I offer Iraq. The Bush doctrine wanted to bring the progress of Democracy and equality to Iraq. The Bush doctrine held that by changing the “cast of characters” in Iraq that democracy could progress and flourish.
In Iraq the cast was changed, but no one believes that the cause of Democracy has made progress during the 5 years of war.
We do not need change from our Democratic values. We need progress. Hillary Clinton is the right person, and will be the right President.

I attended both rallies for Hillary and Barack in my state. Hillary comes across as very smart but she goes on and on about specific policy proposals. Barack is about bigger things. He talks about changing the politics of washington and bringing our troops home and preserving the american dream and stuff.

Have all you Obama haters ever considered the possibility that he might get stronger in the General?
John McCain has a looong Senate record that can be used against him just like John Kerry. Need I go on?
His sweeping denial of the NYT story is already unraveling.
He’s 71 years old, undisiplined, has a temper, and contridicts himself on the record often.
He left his first wife in less-than-honorable circumstances, his 2nd wife was investigated by the DEA.
I’m a democrat, I actually thought Romney was a more dangerous opponent. He’s a governer who can point to specific accomplishments.
What has McCain really accomplished that voters can rally around?
He talks a ‘holier-than-thou’ game on lobbyists and he’s surrounded by lobbyists.
Campaign Finance is his hallmark and he tried to call Obama out on it. — But after the NYT story, money has been pouring in to his campaign and look at him, already flip-flopping.
He was on the Armed Service commitee all through the ’90s, what did he propose about terror? NOTHING.
I can’t wait to see how this plays out in the Fall.

I think Obama will be strong in the general. He has a real possibility of picking one or two Red States. Colorado will be in play. He also has a shot in one of the neighboring Red States. Missouri or Nebraska. If he wins all the states that John Kerry did, and then picks up Missouri or Colorado, he will have enought electoral votes to go over 270.
Posted by: Chicagoan | February 23, 2008, 1:51 pm 1:51 pm
Obama couldn’t win a war on the bogey man under the bed much less a war on terror. One of his idiotic ideas is to go to war in Pakistan.
Pakistan is the ally of the US and the west, does not support terrorism, and has been instrumental in capturing terrorists, including 9/11 masterminds Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Abu Zubaydah and terrorism suspect Ramzi bin al-Shibh.
Obama, who claims he did not support authorizing the use of force in Iraq, a country who’s leader harbored terrorists and threatened the west, says he will unilaterally bomb our ally Pakistan if Osama is found in the mountains. Even though it is known that Osama does not have WMD’s.
George Bush was wrong in the way he used the authorization from Congress. But Obama is wronger than wrong, and a hypocrite.
Obama is a danger to the US and the world.

Another thing that no one talks about is the fact that Red State Democrats all endorsed Obama. Governor Jane Napolitno of Arizona, Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota…etc. The list is long. They all want to run with Obama at the top of the ticket. They are afraid if Hillary is at the top of the ticket, they will all lose their jobs.

I attended Hillary’s rally in Arlington, Virginia earlier this month. Following the rally, we waited outside to wave goodbye to Hillary. Screaming into our ears was a whacko Obama supporter. His language compelled me to call him a moron. Not like me at all, but why not pay respect to people, particularly in that environment? I mean, how low do you want to get.

Hillary is finally coming to terms with Barack’s integrity, judgement, influence that is working across voting blocks, and most importantly his basic approach to solving complex problems.
The three most important issues that are of great interest to me are: Education, Healthare, and International relations. In each of these areas, Obama has fresh approaches that are far more likely to succeed:
- Barack’s health care plans to address the root cause of current health care, which is to improve affordability.
- On education, teachers are most important partners in turning a highly educated and competive work-force of the 21st century. Obama’s plan calls for rewarding teacher accomplishments.
- On War and peace, he is bold to explore smarter ways to engage troubled nations like Cuba and Iran through active, direct engagement and some humility.
Hillary is intelligent and knows her graceful exit and supporting a stronger candidate will do more good to the party.
McCain has absolutely nothing new to offer and will be a piece of cake come November.

Even though my more conservative thinking has been more aligned with SOME republican platforms, I cannot vote for John McCain. I do not find him to be trustworthy on several levels. There is enough valid information available ( and I don’t mean the NYT alleged article)about his demeanor towards others, his well-known temper and the one thing I remember well – his leaving his faithful wife after he returned from his POW experience. Plus, I believe he will keep this war going and that alone makes me vote against him.

I think Jesus Christ will win…Revelations 11:15 “The kingdom of the world did become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever.” And I think his next work of delight will be Revelations chapter 17 and 18 which will free us from corruption by the education system as described at Revelations 17 and 18! Long live the king of the earth, Jesus Christ who is taking rulership from mankind!

I am still supporting Hillary; I worked on her campaign and I hope she can still get the Democratic nomination. But don’t worry, Barack, the press is already slurring McCain for you. McCain has a lot of problems. His own party doesn’t like him. The fact is a lot of Republicans are not excited about him. Many conservatives will stay home. Republicans in general are very dispirited this year. Republican turnout in every state has been low. Consider this: Barack Obama got more than twice the votes that McCain and Huckabee combined got in Wisconsin.
Posted by: Chicagoan | February 23, 2008, 2:03 pm 2:03 pm
Obama cannot win the general election if he cannot win Ohio and Florida.
Ohio and Florida are the swing states that will determine the general election.
Obama trails McCain by a combined 17 points in these states. Hillary trails McCain by only 7 points.
So, how does Obama plan to reach out to win over Republicans and Independents in these states?
Here is how Obama is reaching out so far. He refuses to display the traditions of Republicans and Independents.
He refuses to wear an American flag lapel pin.
He refuses to place his had on his heart when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
He does not salute the US Flag.
His wife claims she has been really proud of her country only once in her adult life.
A diplomat would never insult a foreign county by behaving as Obama does in HIS OWN COUNTRY.
Obama is losing to McCain in the key and crossover red states. With Obamas crass attitude, there is no way he will win over Republicans or Independents there.
Obama will lose the General Election in one of the biggest landslides. That will be the end of his career and thank God for that.

Frankly, Chris, I am not a Hillary follower; however, on this point I will certainly say that we should ALL be glad that her husband’s experience doesn’t translate into hers. John McCain: 1st Wife stayed true and loyal while he was a POW, his 1st wife never faltered, his 1st wife kept moral up with the other military wives, his 1st wife was there when he returned after years of torture, battered, beaten, emotionally and psychologically wounded yet she remained by his side.
How did McCain repay his 1st wife for such loyalty when she was sick? How did John McCain show his appreciation when she was dying?
He had an affair with Cindy Hensley, the heiress of the Hensley fortune! John McCain left his dying first wife to MARRY his second wife Cindy Hensley!!!
John McCain, The IMPATIENT with his dying 1st wife candidate, and married the woman he was having an affair with while his 1st wife was still alive. J

Reading the various press accounts and looking at the public polling, all we can see is that Obama has momentum and that he has closed the gap in Texas and is closing in Ohio. Period.
I agree with Philip. If and when Hillary’s internal polling tells her it’s out of reach, she may drop out, but not before.
And you never know, her nice finish in the debate on Thursday may be giving people second thoughts (although as an Obama supporter I thought the debate itself was a draw). She also may get some traction in Ohio with her tirade today about an Obama mailing that she claims is untrue. I haven’t seen it, of course, but I know her campaign has not been above smearing Obama — by mail, and on TV, and in her speeches, and in debates.
Although I think her chances are only about 10-20%, I do think it’s premature to count her out. As Chris Berman says, “THAT is why they play the games.”

We have had two recent Presidents who took office with little experience in foreign affairs and both were quickly tested by those on the outside who viewed them as weak. Bush was in office when we were attacked on 9/11 and Kennedy was in office when the Russians brought us the Cuban missile crisis. Kennedy was able to resolve the problem but it was a scary time in America. Regardless of the comparisons Obama is NO John F Kennedy. On one of the debates by ABC one of the questions spoke to the fact that experts believe we have a 30% chance, some say 50% chance of the United States being hit by a nuclear bomb in the next 5 years. I think an Obama Presidency increases the likely hood of that happening even more! Hillary has much more experience, plus she is on the armed services committee. Anyone who believes Hillary was baking cookies during the 8 years Bill was in the Oval office is kidding themselves. She knows her stuff backwards and forwards and that shows in the debates and her town hall meetings. The woman knows what she is talking about! I don’t believe she would as likely to be tested for a couple of reasons, people view her as being tougher than Obama and she has Bill by her side. If Hillary doesn’t get the nomination my vote will either be a write-in which will end up benefiting McCain or an outright vote for McCain. We can’t leave our country in the hands of college kids who don’t yet have a grasp of the real world.

“And the implication is that the people who’ve been voting for me or are involved in my campaign are somehow delusional,” Obama said.
A guilty person needs no accuser.
People have been duped by the Dot Com bubble, Stock Market bubbles, and the Housing and Mortgage bubbles. Now we are being duped by Obama the Shaman.
Like the Housing and Mortgage bubble, a lot of the people who are buying in are going to find out that they can’t afford what they’ve been sold.
The problem for sane people, although we were not taken in by the housing hysteria, and did not destroy our credit and credibility, we are having this latest hysteria forced on us. And it will ruin more than our credit. It will ruin our country.
George Bush has been flushing this county’s resources down the toilet. Obamas answer is to flush it down a bigger toilet and unite more hands to push the lever.

People need to consider how the Dems have set up their primaries – Florida, Michigan with no representation and the superdelegate insiders who will make the final selection of the presidental candidate. They WILL try to run our country just as they are running their party. Special privileges for insiders, total write-off to those who don’t cater to the party rules. It doesn’t sound very democratic to me!

Mrs. Clinton was wrong about one thing in her closing remarks, namely the democratic party would come together. Dead wrong. Thousands and thousand will never vote for Obama and his groupies. Furthermore, the Republicans will beat Florida and Michelin two critical swing states who generally decide elections, with Obama’s own words. He dismiss the voters of those two state and refused to allow their free votes to count. We remember stuff like that.

Hillary is not a quitter. She is not now, nor has she ever been. She believes in her causes with a deep passion and great experience that drives her forward. Let The Party decide at the Convention. It makes no difference now to talk about division; we are already divided. All of the talk and hate spin, without real substance of issues and discussion have decided where we stand. Those of us who believe in the character, hard work, ethics, compassion, intelligence, and experience of Hillary Clinton will not falter. Let the rest of the voters have their say, then let the leaders of the convention fix it. I do not intend to vote for someone with so little experience and solutions. Where we are now is a crossroads. The most experienced candidate will be the one with relevant experience and not just plagiarized slogans. That is what America will choose.

No, the fat lady isn’t quite ready to sing. But she’s preparing her voice with hot tea and Halls. As far as the two biggest critisms the McCain supporters are fishing that (1) Obama is strong on talk, thin on detailed positions and (2) he’s not experienced: on (1), check Obama’s website (or any candidate’s website for that matter); his positions are laid out in detail there. On (2), none of the candidates have experience, since none of them have ever been president of the US (typically the case).

I think Janet Napolitano from Ariz should be Obama’s running mate…then if you must you still make gender history except with a younger less corrupted female…and John Edwards for Attorney Gen since he’s a lawyer people advocate type…In fact Obama should surround himself with a good 2 female appointees if possible it would really help put the country at ease…

Look, she isn’t out unless she loses Texas and Ohio. You could win one or both. I really don’t know and neither does anyone else. Either Obama or Clinton are relatively inexperienced candidates in terms of holding a chief executive position or commander in chief. They spell retreat from some really bad customers who are determined to destroy us. You can’t reason with them or ‘dialogue’ them out of their firm intent on destroying the West. I’m not crazy about McCain but we are toast if we retreat out of the middle east. We need a stable enviornment to secure a reliable source of oil.

Governor Janet Napolitano would be a terrific choice to be Barack’s running mate. Can she deliver Arizona though? I don’t know enough about Arizona. I think Governor Kathleen Sebellius of Kansas would also be a very good choice.

On the economy both generally profess to have the power as President to coerce of force companies from leaving the shores of the US. That is nonsense and everyone else should know that. The President nor the Congress can force a corporation from leaving if they want to secure cheap labor and they go overseas. We live in a real world that doesn’t allow a nation to survive if its people think like children.

The likely choice to be Obama’s running mate will be Sentor Jim Webb of Virginia or Governor Tim Kaine of Virgina. Virgina is becoming a Blue State because of all the immigrants that settled in Northern Virginia suburbs. I think either Governor Kaine or Senator Webb can deliver Virginia for Barck Obama.

This obsession with a female running mate is absurd. We can’t afford the luxury of selecting someone because of their sex when we are living in such a dangerous world. You had better ensure that the backup president is someone who can be commander in chief just in case. We don’t need a ‘tootsie’ or someone whose claim to fame is organizing tea parties. We are dealing with some mean boys out there who are hardened in their determination to destroy us.

While everyone is on this “what has he/she done” kick, what exactly has John McCain done? Yeah, he was a POW, but that was because he got caught. What has he done as a senator for many many years? McCain/Feingold? Which accomplished what exactly for the average working American? He strikes me as a career politician, an insider who plays the game in a way that’s more beneficial to the oil/healthcare/insurance/big business-in-general crowd. Oh, and as someone who’s ready to stay in Iraq for 100 years.

McCain is a disaster, he’s just a mini-Bush and he is way toooo old. Between Obama and Clinton, judging from their debates, I’d say Clinton is clearly much more qualified for the job, Obama is all words and no substance. It would be a shame that Clinton drops out.

Good point Strangelove. The VP has to be someone who can also serve as the President and Commander in Chief. That’s why I think Senator Jim Webb would be a good choice for Barack. He has a military background and served in Vietnam. He wrote the book “Rules of Engagement.”

i was once on this board saying that if hilary got the nom i would vote for mccain. that was pure emotion and illogical. now that i know obama will get the nod i feel sorry for hilary. she seems more humble and human than she has to me in her entire career. no matter what people say about obama, he will change the trajectory of this nation like no one else has. i think he will be good for this nation and stimulate more outstanding ppl to make changes in their communities and take a stand in politics. i have no doubt that after president obama, our future presidents will be much more diverse. i bet after obama we will have a woman president.

I don’t like McCain but attacking him about staying in Iraq for 100 years is ignoring the fact that we are STILL in Japan,Germany and Korea. If you want a stable source of oil then we will be in the middle east for quite a longer period than 100 years or until the oil runs out whichever comes first.

Now we have McCain getting the same treatment from the New York Times. Is there a strategy out there by Obama’s camp to get rid of the stong republican candidate and replace him by a weaker one that Obama can beat? Has anyone questioned David Axlerod’s part in this?

A lot of people don’t know this but McCain is not a nice guy. A war hero yes. But not an honorable guy. When he was a POW in Vietnam, his wife waited for him to come back for 5 years. After he came back, he divorced her and married a younger and richer woman, Cindy McCain. His first wife was bitter about that for a long time.

It’s worth noting that Barack Obama didn’t get all of the Texas newspapers endorsements. It seems that the newspaper from the University of Texas at Austin (where the debate was just held) gave their endorsement to Hillary Clinton. They said that maybe in 4 to 8 years Obama may be ready to lead but not now. They feel Hillary would be the better candidate. It seems that the youth vote in Texas isn’t all locked up.

Unless a miracle happens on March 4, I suggest that Hillary “suspend” her campaign rather than quit altogether in case events beyond her control make Obama unelectable. I don’t think he’ll have a macaca moment but realistically it’s her best hope whether she campaigns or not.

We can discuss the economy, health care and the border all day long, and YES they are very important issues to all of us. But the ONE critical thing that people NEED to consider here is that world leaders and those who lead in the TERRIORIST communities WATCH everything and if you think for one moment it was a coincidence that we were attached while seating the WORST President we have seen in many years…it was not!! And seating ANOTHER ROOKIE who does not have a clue about foregin policy or dealing WITH our ENEMIES is just another FAILURE of this Country to protect itself!! Even John McCain who many believe if nothing else HE will see that WE are protected has said it is NIEVE AND INEXPERIENCE that would agree to meet with Terrorist or any other US ENEMIES without preconditions. I donot know about other Americans but this is ONE AMERICAN who CARES if we get hit again. I live right in between DC and NEW YORK…and it was devastating!!!! And it DOES matter how well your President UNDERSTANDS who they are dealing with. IN EIGHT years of the CLINTON administration….EIGHT years we were NEVER attached nor in any years before…although through out Clintons entire time he sought out Bin Laden…he did not ignore it…However, it was NOT until Bush took over that Bin Laden acted…..THINK ABOUT THAT…

It does sound like Hillary is willing to go down in flames and will try to take Obama with her considering what she said today in Cincinatti. She accused Obama of Rovian tactics and lying about her reocrd and he should be “ashamed” in a very forceful angry manner. It looked like several months of frustration burst forth out of her in a couple of minutes. I think the reporters in the front row were fearing for their safety. I suspect the Democratic party leadership are not going to be too happy with this turn of events.

Here in VA we love our governor and our new senator, but with Tim Kaine you’d have 2 first-termers on the ticket, and Jim Webb, God love him, is a little erratic and unpredictable. My choice for Obama’s running mate (IF he is the nominee — let’s not get ahead of ourselves here) is Joe Biden. Like her “Xerox” quote, given to her by someone else, and her last lines about “we’ll be alright,” lifted directly from John Edwards, all while calling Barack a plagiarist for working on 2 speeches with his friend and co-chair Deval Patrick. She doesn’t act very presidential. He seems more ready.

Texas has really wierd ways that they apportion delegates. An analyst was saying the delegates are given based on turnout of the last election. In the last election, turnouts were much bigger in black neighborhoods in Houston and other cities. Turnouts were low in Hispanic communities and around the border so the Hispanics get a low lower delegates than the blacks do in Texas. Wierd. So because Hillary is counting on the Hispanic vote to win Texas, I think she might lose there too.

Rumors of Hillary’s demise are premature. I remember well another Clinton who could do anything to women and get away with it. Don’t count out Hillary. This is an intelligent, shrewd attorney gifted with words. How many “I don’t recall,” statements have been uttered by this shrewd lawyer?
Also, this is not the end of Hillary. From her college days to marrying Bill Clinton, to becoming Senator, to running for president is not the end of the line for Hillary. She is an attorney. She could become a leader in the Senate giving Senators Boxer and Feinstein a royal pain. Or Hillary can become a Supreme Court Justice.

The New York Times did an article about Barack’s drug use during his college years and they came to the conclusion that he did not do as much drugs as he claimed. Obama will pull troops out of Iraq. Man, there will be one God awful mess left behind. Iran and their surrogates, plus Osama’s bully boys are watching and I know praying for Obama to win. They are not stupid folks. If I was them I’d wait as well. There’s gonna be one heck of a blood bath over there and they will win in Iraq, no doubt, just as Obama will win over here. Iran will get their nuclear weapons. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that. The gulf states are not gonna be happy campers and will be left to clean up the mess and if you think oil and gas is expensive now, boy have I got news for you, ’cause you haven’t seen anything yet. High energy prices equal rising cost of living. North Korea and China and Russia are not stupid either. They thrive on weakness, real or perceived, such as the current European example as seen by those states. And there will be two more Middle East wars, but this time there’s gonna be nukes on the table.

Polls in Ohio still have Hillary Clinton out in front. It’s because they know Barack Obama will do nothing for them once he’s elected. He is all talk and no action. His wins in this primary are mainly Republican states. And from caucuses. (which are completely bogus) Hillary has won the big Democratic states. I have heard from friends in Massachusetts that they didn’t vote for him in their primary because they heard the same rhetoric and pretty speeches from Deval Patrick and he hasn’t delivered as their governor either. The Kennedy, Kerry’s, Shriver’s and yes, even Oprah couldn’t save him there, because they knew better.

Morgan,
Why would caucuses be “bogus?”
People have to exert the effort to get there and spend three or four hours there to make sure their preference is expressed. How undemocratic!
If the Clinton campaign thinks they are bogus, why doesn’t she give up the delegates SHE won in all the caucuses?
Now, trying to count delegates from primaries you and your opponents agreed not to compete in (except that you conveniently forgot to take your name off the ballot in one of them, and had campaign appearances disguised as “fundraisers” in the other) — THAT is bogus!

I love how the Clintons always dismiss a state that they lose. Their excuse for losing Maine was because it is a caucus. Louisiana didn’t matter beause it had a black population. Virginia and Maryland didn’t matter because people couldn’t get home in time to vote because the Captial Beltway traffic was bad that evening. They only like the states they won. And also, Hillary refuses to congratulate Barack after she loses a contest. We have a tradition in this country that the loser gives a concession speech. The Clintons don’t do that. They don’t believe in congratulating their opponent if he/she wins.

People who talks negative about Clinton they should look back and feel ashamed of themselves. She has more experience, good plans and strength to face any toughness. Her health care coverage mentions that government will help pelple who can’t afford to pay for it. Obama’s plan leave people behind. If people don’t want it they don’t have to. That means not everyone will be covered. So, health care is optional for those who don’t want it. Use your brain people don’t think like a narrow headed person.

Hillary Clinton on NAFTA

From David Sirota via McBlogger
“Ross Perot was fiercely against NAFTA. Knowing what we know now, was Ross Perot right?”
That’s what CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Hillary Clinton at last week’s Democratic presidential debate. It was a straightforward query about a Clinton administration trade policy that polls show the public now hates, and it was appropriately directed to a candidate who has previously praised NAFTA.
In response, Clinton stumbled. First she laughed at Perot, then she joked that “all I can remember from that is a bunch of charts,” and then she claimed the whole NAFTA debate “is a vague memory.” The behavior showed how politically tone deaf some Democratic leaders are.
And what did Perot say about NAFTA at the time? (Besides giant sucking sound of our jobs leaving the US)
What about immigration? In 1993, the Clinton administration pitched NAFTA as “the best hope for reducing illegal immigration.” Perot, by contrast, said that after NAFTA depressed Mexican wages, many Mexicans “out of economic necessity” would “consider illegally immigrating into the U.S.”
“In short,” he wrote, “NAFTA has the potential to increase illegal immigration, not decrease it.”
Again, the historical record tells the story. As NAFTA helped drive millions of Mexicans into poverty, The New York Times reports that “Mexican migration to the United States has risen to 500,000 a year from less than 400,000 in the early 1990s, before NAFTA,” with a huge chunk of that increase coming from illegal immigration.
Perot was right. And Clinton is not only wrong but disingenuous to pretend she doesn’t remember about NAFTA.

This is the downside of the internet — people digging around for what candidates and their spouses thought and wrote in college. Come on, let’s get serious here! I’m 59 years old. When I think back to what a complete, know-it-all tool I was in college, it makes me cringe. So Hillary was a Republican — so what; Giuliani used to be a Democrat. So Michelle Obama felt alienated and ostracized as a black woman at a northeastern, Ivy-League university. Not surprising, but so what?
On the other hand, Michelle’s ill-advised comment last week about pride in her country didn’t especially trouble me, but it was fair game. But her senior thesis from 23 years ago? Please!

Hillary has lost everywhere. Wisconsin was a primary that was very well suited for her. 95% White. Lots of older voters over 55 years old. Lots of working class Democrats. And she managed to lose that primary by 17% points. How do you explain that? She is a terrible candidate and has run a terrible campaign so far.

Re: Jac13 I think that the caucus system is unfair in many ways. I think all states should use the primary system. This goes for Democrats as well as Republicans. Why? In the caucus system, a small percentage of the population has a disproportionate impact on the national election. It also disenfranchises too many people. For example, those who must work jobs like nurses, police officers, the elderly, etc. can’t always attend the caucuses based on what time of day they decide to hold them, or what day of the week, including weekends. I know there must be many people who are either not willing or able to spend 3 or 4 hours at a caucus. Also, some Americans do value the ability to keep their voting choice private.
Of course, the Clinton campaign is not involved in which states have caucuses and which have primaries. And certainly they must keep delegates won from caucuses as well as primaries. I was just stating that there are differences between the two systems. And I personally think a primary is a better system.
Also, the whole Michigan/Florida delegate mess was corrupt from the beginning. No candidate should be in a position of having to take their name off a ballot in a state’s election process. The voters of every state should have their votes counted. Every single one of them. Who made the decision to strip delegates from these states? If the states were in violation why were they allowed to proceed with a primary at all. How lame is that? Hillary Clinton chose not to have her name removed in Michigan along with some other senators. If they were going to have these primaries, why should a candidate remove their name from the ballot? Why should she give in to these shenanigans. And why were other candidates names placed on the Florida ballots if these candidates refused to put them on the Michigan ballot? These questions need answering. A million Florida voters, voted for Hillary Clinton. They felt that strongly about their candidate. Two states in this process have not had their votes counted. This should never have been allowed to happen. There should be an investigation into this. The fact that these votes haven’t been counted has already had an adverse effect on this campaign. Is this 2000 all over again, except they decided they would be devious upfront instead of at the end of the election? Notice how Florida is once again in the mix.

I believe the nomination is Senator Obama’s or Senator Clinton’s to win or lose. One major mistake, misstep or misspeak and either can send their futures spiraling rapidly downward.
Yes, it appears the momentum is in favor of Senator Obama. With that said, I seem to recall a candidate from a recent campaign who was kicking butts and taking names until he erupted in an unglued raving of a sorely disturbed person. (NOTE: that person is now head of the DNC).
Senator Obama can win this nomination, but he can also lose it. For either candidate, a cool head is critical. Speak to the facts and focus on what you will do better than your opponent. Mostly, emphasize how the world will be better with you v. Senator McCain.
Neither Obama nor Clinton have this nomination sewn up – Belive It !

The same principle applies to both the caucuses and the MI and FL primaries: however unfair you may feel the rules are, they are the rules everyone agreed to in advance, and you can’t change them once the elections begin.

Barack Obama (born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is the 44th President of the United States. President Obama won the 2008 election by running as a change candidate against the incubment Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton, during the Democratic Party primaries and defeated Senator John McCain, Republican Arizona, in the 2008 general election to become the third President from the great State of Illinois.

I believe we do know very well that Barack and Hillary will wind up having lunch. What’s happening now is what happens when candidates are trying to win. We all know that when all is said and done Barack and Hillary will do whatever is good for the party, including running on the same ticket. That idea is not new; people have been bandying it around for months. We know that Democrats had 6-7 great candidates — I could have voted for any one of them (John Edwards, in particular), had anybody other than the two left standing had been the nominee. That’s the difference between the Democrats and the GOP. The GOP has a candidate that they basically can’t stand, but for the good of the party, they will grudgingly vote for John McCain, whom I knew more than a year ago would wind up being their nominee — because he has more going for him than any of the others. If only he hadn’t waffled off the original Straight Talk Express. Though he’s managed to get back on, he has some serious problems, and it’s no point in making self-manufactured errors in judgment about the newspaper that reported it. It’s about a man who claims to honor the highest ethics, talking out of both sides of his mouth. What did he expect, coddling!?
After what the GOP has put us through, the bills they have blocked simply because they could, the state of an economy which for years Bush has claimed was sound — who in God’s name wants more of that. At this very moment they are trying to undermine important tenets of Medicaid. This is a party that is BRAIN DEAD. When they say “less government,” what they mean is “less governance,” so that members of their party can rape the National Treasury with impugnity. We ALWAYS have a recession when the Republicans are in control.
But back to the candidates, as Hillary said on Thursday — she and Barack will be just fine!

The reason I mentioned caucus vs. primary was that I feel a caucus is not truly representative of a state’s intentions. This is my opinion. And to win mostly Republican states in primaries isn’t going to be useful to Barack Obama in a general election. He won’t be able to win Republican states in a general election. John McCain will win these states.
Also I don’t know why people continue to say that the “parties agreed” regarding Michigan and Florida’s elections? I think the real question that should be raised is “Why was this allowed to happen?” Why can’t everyone see the corruption at work here? Why aren’t all Americans outraged that our voting rights are being abused. It shouldn’t even matter what candidate you are for, our voting process is being violated. And it was violated before the election process even began. The majority of Americans weren’t even aware of what was going on. The media never addresses it. They are more concerned over superdelegates than actual votes being lost in Fl and MI.

Why should Senator Clinton quit when 10 million people have voted for her?
9 of the states Senator Obama won have voted Republican for the last 4 Presidential elections (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004). Two others have been carried by the Republican in three of the last four Presidential elections. Do we really think this will CHANGE?
This “success” is the biggest hoax played on the American public in years.
States carried by the Republican in all four elections
Alabama
Alaska
Idaho
Kansas
Nebraska
North Dakota
South Carolina
Utah
Virginia

I have drafted and sent only three email responses on this “campaign” ever, but with over 37 years in business and having been through 9 presidental campaigns I can probably tell a few stories myself. Mrs. Clinton, god rest her soul, is simply not the proper female candidate to be a well balanced president of a country. Geraldine Ferro had more insightful and decisive insight with significantly less legal, family, reputation and emotional baggage. Her own “Clinton White House years” camp as openly stated the same thing. What does it take for anyone to realize this mistake, but more imporatntly how important it is to make things right this time around! We do nto need war mongers, our politically smothered puppets, we need an advancing leader who will lead our government into global respect for all its policies.

Change is the word of the day these days.
But change what? Change why? Change how? Change for the sake of change is meaningless and even destructive. Change on its own is an empty word and that’s just why politicians use it: They want you to fill this empty vessel of a word with whatever you have in mind.
I’d rather vote for a candidate who explains the issues and where they stand on them than vote for change.

Most Americans who are fed up with the Bush administration and fed up with politics do not need some lessons from one lying, ruthless, and corrupt candidate to explain to them “what means change? what means corruption? what means policies?” We are smart enough to figure out what needs to be changed, and when we see someone, like Obama and even McCain, who is capable of changing the things that are corrupting this country, like Hillary and George Bush, and Kyle Rove, then we are educated enough to make a decision.

For those still arguing that the Florida and Michigan votes should count, and who don’t understand why they don’t – I’m a Florida resident. In the spring or early summer of 2007, the Florida democratic committee decided to move their primary up from its traditional appointed date, basically leap-frogging its traditional position, to be ahead of other state primaries. In some ways it was an attempt to gain more importance, in other ways, it disrespected other states, whose primaries have always come earlier than Florida’s. When they announced their intentions, the DNC instructed them that they could not do that. They basically said “we’ll do whatever we please”. At that point, the DNC told them that, if they went ahead, their primary votes would not count…. they did it anyway.
Their votes should never be counted in this election… they knew what they were doing, when they did it. All the candidates agreed to stand by the DNC decision. Only now that Hill-Bill-y is losing, does she want to go against the original pledge, and have those votes counted. Incidentally, why was she the only candidate to “forget” to have her name removed from the ballot in Michigan… and why was she in West Palm Beach having a “fund-raiser” two days before the Florida primary?
She is not an agent of change… she is more of the same-old, same-old dirty Clinton political machine.
Obama ’08!!! – from a Republican.

Hillary Clinton should not quit, and it is preposterous of people to suggest that she quit. These people who “claim” to support her and then are seen at obama events were probably for obama all along—–how embarrassing to say you support one candidate and then do what they did. That’s so unethical. It says more about obama supporters than anything. That sounds like much what obama is like, and how he is such a contradiction in action. obama supporters are increasingly arrogant and disrespectful, and tear down the rest of the Democratic party, mainly older voters. It is embarrassing to the rest of us, what these obama supporters act like, and very cold, calculating, and uncaring actions that go on—-the opposite of what the Democratic Party is all about (or HAD been about, since before obama entered the race).
Hillary has EVERY RIGHT, as with ANY political candidate, to stay in the race as long as she and her supporters see fit. We Hillary supporters would not suggest that obama drop out of the race—–he has every right to stay in the race as anybody else, also. Until the Democratic National Committee announces a nominee, the race is still ON, whether obama and his supporters like it or not. Get USED to it. Hillary is IN IT, and she’s IN IT TO WIN IT, people. Pop some popcorn and continue to watch the race till the game’s over……

If Barack Obama had just lost 11 straight elections, trailed Clinton in delegates, in states won and in popular vote, wouldn’t there be a cacphony of calls asking him the step down, that the will of the people is obvious?
I think if the 22 states of Feb. 5 could re-vote today, Obama would win in a landslide just like he has everywhere since then. Yes, in California, Massachusetts and New Jersey, too.
It’s time for Hillary to gracefully step down for the good of the party so Barack can stop fighting her and take on McCain.

A silly label.
Please pay attention those who are awake, and see the very negative consequences of so-called ‘conservatism’ to Americans!
1. ‘Conservative’ Reagan, with this ‘voodoo economics’ (gift to the wealth-addicts who don’t need it) gave Americans a HUMONGOUS budget deficit & Savings and Loan Scandal, which cost American tax payers HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!
The Clintons’ White Water Scandal was part of the Reagan’s gift to the wealthy and the greedy.
2. ‘Conservative’ Bush (with his newest version of the same ‘voodoo economics) ALSO gave Americans: ANOTHER HUMONGOUS budget deficit
very weak dollar
high inflation
UNPROVOKED Iraqi war
Potential Balkan war (with the foolish creation of another maniac muslim state)
Sub-Prime SCANDAL which is costing American homeowners BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!
Now, which American would be so self-hating as to want another ‘conservative’ Bush-McCain to Bush-whack America AGAIN!

Since when do states that have been carried by Republicans no longer count for the Democrats. Should we no longer invite states that voted Republican to the Democratic conevention? The fact that Obama is able to win these states, win over Independents and some Republicans is one of the things that many of us find so appealing about Obama.

Here’s the truth:
According to the Obama campaign:
Obama has “consistently” opposed NAFTA.
Clinton has called NAFTA a “boon” to the economy.
Jeff has the full mailer for y’all to see but let’s clear the air of this right now.
Obama and Clinton have an exact identical record on trade. Both voted against CAFTA. Both voted to support the Bush Administration’s proposal to expand NAFTA to include Peru. If you can find a difference in voting on international trade issues, please share it.
The claim that Hillary Clinton called NAFTA a “boon” to the economy is based on a 9/11/06 story in Newsday. However the story itself contains no such quote, but instead characterizes that as Clinton’s position on NAFTA.
While claiming that he has “consistently” opposed NAFTA, Obama voted for the Peru trade deal. He has not called for the United States to withdraw from NAFTA or GATT. According to his own campaign’s website, Obama is calling for changes to be made to NAFTA– the same position he is criticizing Clinton for taking. Obama has not so much consistently opposed NAFTA as much as he might have consistently proposed tinkering with it. To me, that is a big difference from someone who has “consistently opposed” something. People who oppose abortion don’t talk about reforming it; they talk about ending it.
Besides the Peru trade deal, Obama has supported other “free trade” deals presented to the Senate during his brief term.
This mailing is trying to make it appear that there is differences between Obama and Clinton that historically does not exist. Furthermore, it creates the impression that Obama is against international trade agreements, which is also not accurate. Third, it implies that Clinton has directly called NAFTA a “boon” to the economy when in reality that is how Newsday characterized her position on NAFTA.

Beach 1 forever. What a surprise to learn that you are a Republican and don’t want the votes of Florida to be counted? Did you vote for George and Jeb Bush too? Were you a member of the “chad” counters? Also Hillary Clinton didn’t forget to take her name off. She kept it on just like the other candidates (Obama and Edwards) did in Florida. These votes will surely have to be counted even if it has to go to the state supreme courts. I have already seen petitions circulating to get these votes counted. One million people are NOT going to be ignored! Sorry to disappoint you.

Hillary Clinton has not been elected president just yet. She has her own economic plans for the future, which by the way, Obama seems to have copied many of them and now calls them his own. Also, I think Ohio and the rest of this country face many serious problems, such as health care and education. Almost 50 million Americans don’t have health insurance. That’s almost 1 in 6. And almost 30% of high school seniors aren’t even graduating. Also I’m glad that Hillary Clinton is still at least 8 to 9 points ahead in the polls in Ohio. I guess Ohio loves Hillary.

Such behavior really borders on the insane, don’t you think?
For the 3rd time in a row, Americans appear to be voting NOT with their heads, but with their emotions.
Obama may be an eloquent and inspiring orator, but I believe his presidency, if it comes to pass, will be the most ineffective, divisive and mistake-ridden presidencies in U.S. history.
And to those who believe in prayer: You’ll have to pray more, and pray harder, for our country during an Obama presidency.

Hillary Clinton lives in a world of “convenient truth”. She melds the “truth” to suit her purposes. Her “reality” is often diametrically opposed to real life.
In the same fashion that she can “conveniently ignore” NAFTA and the wage-garnishing of her health plan, I’m sure she’s going to continue “conveniently ignore” the writing on the delegate wall.
Let us all hope that she doesn’t press her deceitful ways toward breaking DNC rules and strong-arming superdelegates. Both of these are unfortunately a real possibility in the “scorched earth” win-at-all-costs world of Hillary.

OK, Otillap… cut the “delusional” crap. As an Obama supporter, I’ve read the nitty gritty of his (and Hillary’s) proposals. I have chosen to support Senator Obama because his plans make sense to me. We’re not stupid “lemmings” applauding for a nose blow. Your comments are derogatory and unfounded.

I am afraid that the media is enabling Obama to play the pied piper with the people blindly dancing along hearing only the beautiful music. We all know how that tale ended.

Marty:
But have you not seen the video when Obama blew his nose during a rally and his followers cheered him for it?
Isn’t that an absurd, “delusional” reaction, something that betrays how shallow such following has become?
You said you’ve read both Obama’s and Clinton’s proposals, and liked Obama’s better.
You’re lying, because if you really did, you’ll know that despite their differences on health care (Obama doesn’t mandate universal health care, but taxpayers like yourself will have to pay for other people’s inability to pay medical bills) and immigration (Obama wants to give illegal aliens drivers licenses), they have only minor disagreements on a few issues.
Also, if you’re that old enough, remember the Jack Kennedy presidency, the Bay of Pigs fiasco, his inability to pass any meaningful legislation in Congress?
The same thing will happen with Obama. If he becomes president, he’ll be one of the most ineffective presidents this country ever had.

i think an aide to any candidate who makes such a public statement should be fired and never hired by any candidate for anything ever. who would hire someone like that? of course, i’ve learned not to believe anything the media tell me unless i’ve seen and heard an uncut, unedited version with my own eyes and ears. re obama and the election, it seems to me that he will be trounced in a general election if he gets the nomination. and if that doesn’t happen, the next four years are going to be terrible for the country – in terms of security, economics, and everything else. so either way obama will actually be a loser – if someone runs in a general election and loses they’ll never get another chance, which would be a harsh but well deserved lesson to him about not waiting until he actually learned something before running for president. and if someone wins an election due to media bias, white guilt, black bloc votes, etc., which is what would be the case here, and then everything is a mess (and he of course loses four years later), then he has made history as the first black president and tarnished the record so that future black candidates will have to overcome his failure, and the confluence of factors that got him elected will not be there for future candidates. he loses, and we lose if he wins the presidency. he loses and we get mccain, which is worse than hillary but better than obama, if he loses. so my vote goes to mccain.

Change is a doggy biscuit
It a catch word for complete Idiots and if you think the canidates dont know that—well…you figure it out.
The only guarantee we have when a person screams Change is that Nothing has changed. The canidates still try and sway the undecided fools who blow in the wind with a poster that says CHANGE..come get your biscuit doggy.
Its hard to believe people are this dumb. I can tell you one thing else for sure. The first woman or first black man can only come from the republician party. There isnt the slightest chance that Obama could get elected. This is how dumb the Dems are. All you have to do is the Math. A minority cannot be elected unless Republicans are behind him.
When the reality of being ruled by a minority hits the full majority…its going to be voted down. Thats simply a fact of human nature–like it or not

It’s crazy how you people follow Obama simply because the “Media” has favored him. It’s practically an a cult following that will lead to the down fall of the US! He is all “promises” without any real answers! If you stop and actually listen to him for once, you will see he’s empty. Exactly what good would that be for the US? Get a grip on reality the President cannot make ANY real changes without Congress!! He’s running a smear campaign “off’ camera…. how is that change??? Same old politics.

Even if these states proceeded as they should have, Hillary Clinton would still have won them. Do you really believe that Barack Obama would have won Florida? Get serious. And the only reason you don’t want the votes counted, is because you don’t want to see Hillary Clinton get them. It ain’t over til it’s over.

Obama should and will be nominated. The most valid point is. Hillary did not step up for last time’s election against President Bush. And sent John Kerry. Although John Kerry was a strong candidate, Hillary was more needed at that time, although she had lesser chance to win. Hillary decided to get into the game, when she had no competition. But luckily obama showed up. Hillary was not there for the country when she was needed the most. And she had herself nicely and statistically placed in the time, where she is likely to win. Thats not the right way. The person should go in a fight when he is needed. Not when he has good chances to win. Hillary is doing this for herself, not the country. And besides. all her emotions, and tears, and praises and criticism is fake. Hats off for obama, that he got into the fight, even when he had almost no chances to win. The next president of USA needs to have the guts. And not influenced by same people in political circle to make rules.

You’re such an Obama fan, but do you:
1. Favor giving licenses to illegal aliens, just like obama?
2. As a taxpayer, want to pay for the medical bills of the uninsured who are unable to pay them? That’s what will happen if Obama gets his way with his healthcare plan.
Well, do want both #1 and #2 to happen?

I have some bad news for Clinton supporters.
The Myth – It’s obvious here that some of the HRC supporters don’t get it. Read carefully – ‘Winning’ in Texas and Ohio isn’t enough! She needs winning margins large enough to give her delegates in sufficient quantities to overcome the gap. As far as the Superdelegates are concerned, it’s obvious that many are hedging, delaying their decisions until an even stronger trend has emerged.
The Closer She Gets – We understand how powerful denial can be as an agent of complacency. Deny this – HRC’s margins in every race have declined going into the final numbers. Even her ‘victory’ in New Hampshire ended up as a 2.6% percent margin!!! Six week earlier, her lead was 15 points. Of course, the media focused on the estimates for an Obama victory and missed the other story (the fallen margin) entirely. The CA races is now said to be decided in her favor only due to the advantage of heavier, early voting in her favor. Similarly, a double digit margin nearly vanished.
The POWER game – The scheme of establishing domicile in a state with a heavy Democratic base, high population/electoral vote count, where YOU’VE NEVER LIVED is the epitome of milking the system to accomplish a personal POWER goal. (She’s not doing this for you and me.) And, oh by the way, run for one of that states highest offices as your first political experience is simply arrogant. At least Sen Obama was actually engaged in the business of lawmaking while HRC was failing at her one rail agenda, health care. Look at her ‘accomplishments’ in the Senate and notice the lack of co-sponsors of the bills introduced, many of which never made it out of committee.
Experience? – The trend of Sen Obama’s legislation in his short time is superior to that of HRC. I love the implicit rule that so many try to establish by her 4 extra years in the Senate. I guess that makes Christopher Dodd an even more qualified Presidential nominee. Well, what about Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd?
The Alternative – McBush says we’ll be in Iraq for a thousand years. Ask yourself – what ELSE does he know that he isn’t telling us yet.
Like it or not, the Fat Lady is warming up.

She’s calling Obama out again to debate in Ohio, what happened in the Texas debate?? WHY oh WHY didn’t she use that stage to attack him as she has been doing since losing 10 consecutive primaries? These mailers were known by her campaign several days before hand, so why is she acting like this is new???
The bottom line is this: She obviously needs to attack him NOW or watch her nomination fall flat on its ass. Its as Simple as that.
And I believe Obama’s health care will be more affordable to middle-class America then Hilary’s, just like it is in his state of ILLNOIS!
The last thing we need in this country is health institutions similar to those run in New York, where the focus is on providing for the rich.
FIRST THE PLAGIARISM, NOW HE’S USING REPUBLICAN TACTICS…. DESPERATE TIMES CALLS FOR A DESPERATE HILARY CLINTON!!

Clinton and Obama brought their campaigns to Dallas this week. It was a tale of two cities.
Obama drew the first blood at a noon rally in Reunion Arena with over seventeen thousands cheering fans.
Clinton was next on Friday. The rally was held at an outdoor parking lot in South Dallas with about one thousand fans in attendance. The event began at 9:00 am and the temperature was hovering between 30 to 40 degrees.
Little wonder that Obama is 11 – 0 since Super Tuesday.

For all the disagreement in the Obama versus Hillary debate, one fact remains clear and certain beyond all doubt. The Republicans are desperately HOPING Hillary wins the Democrat nomination. They strongly, adamantly feel she’s an easy target. Hillary is the lightening rod for all Republican hates. She has a unifying effect on the Republicans. And she carries a lot of baggage that makes her a very large “Bulleye” target.

I can see it now these young ideological teens/20 somethings standing up to vote zealously for the anti-everything hero Sen Obama.
Just like the group before them did when they thought we were at risk of invasion/attack and are now experiencing buyers remorse.
This group will hit that agewhen there real issues become home repaymnets, spouses, kids & older parents – healthcare, paying off college tuition etc.
The the realisation my puppydog enthusiasim wasn’t based on knowledge.
So the question is will it take them 4 years to realise the folly of their ways or 8?
Posted by: Double check | February 24, 2008, 1:42 am 1:42 am
It’s a shame that the national media has largely failed to inspect Obama’s history more closely. When you actually start looking, the reality doesn’t exactly match the brand image. I fear that we’ll end up with the same kind of buyer’s regret that we now have with Bush.
E.g. Excerpts from a story about how Obama first gained public office in the Illinois State Senate
(Chicago Tribune April 4, 2007)
The day after New Year’s 1996, operatives for Barack Obama filed into a barren hearing room of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
There they began the tedious process of challenging hundreds of signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer, the longtime progressive activist from the city’s South Side. And they kept challenging petitions until every one of Obama’s four Democratic primary rivals was forced off the ballot.
His overwhelming legal onslaught signaled his impatience to gain office, even if that meant elbowing aside an elder stateswoman like Palmer.
A close examination of Obama’s first campaign clouds the image he has cultivated throughout his political career: The man now running for president on a message of giving a voice to the voiceless first entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it.
One of the candidates he eliminated, long-shot contender Gha-is Askia, now says that Obama’s petition challenges belied his image as a champion of the little guy and crusader for voter rights. “He talks about honor and democracy, but what honor is there in getting rid of every other candidate so you can run scot-free? Why not let the people decide?”
Had Palmer survived the petition challenge, Obama would have faced the daunting task of taking on an incumbent senator. Palmer’s elimination marked the first of several fortuitous political moments in Obama’s electoral success: He won the 2004 primary and general elections for U.S. Senate after tough challengers imploded when their messy divorce files were unsealed.
Obama contended that in the case of the 1996 race, in which he routed token opposition in the general election, he was ready to compete in the primary if necessary.
Asked whether the district’s primary voters were well-served by having only one candidate, Obama smiled and said: “I think they ended up with a very good state senator.”
And he defended his use of ballot maneuvers: “If you can win, you should win and get to work doing the people’s business.”
Posted by: gg | February 24, 2008, 1:49 am 1:49 am
I thought Clinton wasn’t going to back out of the race until AFTER Texas and Ohio had their shot at humiliating her? What I saw yesterday was Clinton throwing in the towel, albeit in a quite embarassingly manner, to be sure.
Posted by: Namako OH3 | February 24, 2008, 2:18 am 2:18 am
Mr. “So do I” Obama is piggy backing on other people’s words and policies. It was clear from Thursday’s debate who has substance and who does not. Since he was caught copying people’s speeches, he was reduced to the “ah…ah…” pregnant pauses when asked about his own policies. He keeps saying “so do I” confirming that he really does not have any ideas of his own.

Michelle Obama is in her early 40′s. Her “adult life” consists of two Clinton terms (with repulsive personal dramas and incessant political warfare) and two terms of George W. Bush (with a trumped-up war and torture as official foreign policy). I’ve been lucky enough to be older than her, and remember being proud of my country, but she is absolutely right — we have behaved shamefully over the past 20 years. The world recognizes it and has abandonned us. The sooner we come to terms with what we have become as a country, the sooner we can get back in touch with what we used to stand for, and feel proud again.
Don’t attack the messenger. Attack those who have betrayed our national ideals — and hope that Michelle’s husband, who has already done so much to restore our pride, goes all the way.

Every Democrat that I know who voted for Hillary (I live in Cali) has said they will not vote for the Islamic friendly Obama in the election…and that for the first time in their life, they will vote for a Republican if necessary. If you’d like to support a candidate for presidency that cant even handle losing a few primaries without breaking down and crying (and losing her cool in the process) go right ahead.. Personally I’m looking for a candidate that is going to bring America back together. Clinton isnt that person – I think she’s a better candidate for the country when we are not in such divisive times.
We need change first and perfection of the new direction second. Hillary is a very smart woman but she’s not going to lead us into a new era.
This is why even though I’m a conservative, veteran and a republican, I support Obama for president. Our country needs to unify again and I feel like he’s the man to do it.

It looked like the “Shame on You Barack Obama” scream by Hillary Clinton was a well rehearsed thing before she came to the stage in Ohio. There were also reports that she reacted to the two Obama leaflets after a woman in the audience handed her. How do we know that the woman in the audience is not a “planted” supporter of the New York senator.
Hillary is clearly desperate to get a win somewhere after 11 straight losses to Obama. She tried many things to win a primary after Super Tuesday. Nothing worked to her favor and now she is hoping that looking angry and attacking Obama would work this time. Well, don’t bet on it.
I don’t think the Clintons will get a third term to the White House this time around. It would be better for the Democratic Party if Hillary bows out gracefully and let’s deal with the Republicans behind Obama.

All this clown is doing is job hunting, cause here in where it lies: loyalty.
No longer is the Boomer gerneration of loyal worker here.
Before trust and loyalty where before money.
People treat jobs like relationships:disposable
Hillary should kick him to the curb. Who want someone they can not trust working for them.
Hillary may not be the president you want, but Obama is worse.
He is fake, like telling people he will assist in lowing crimes for pot smoking, yet his states did not even approve medical pot so he is full of it.
Also his comment about ending welfare, “give us your hungry” we come along way, we where a nation to assist the poor, now it is all about money.
A communist, a republican wolf is democrate sheep clothing.
The overwelming votes are from republicans, they will do anything to mess up Hillary, after all look what they did to Gore. They stole the american vote, and don’t think for a moment it wont happen again.
All that is going to happen if Obama is nominated is Mc Cain will win
Cause that is what the Republican want so they git Obama the nominations and then vote for Mc Cain…
They where able to take away your vote and got away with it, so now just so you think they are not doing it again with the fake electronic republicans machines, your fooling yourselfs.
Just wait when Mc Cain wins by a landslide. And the same Junk for more years of lies and killing our military men and women and stealing our tax money and giving to crooks.
It is said you want to know the truth follow the money trail.

Follitics: If you so ashamed of America then move to Kenya where Obama came from and should have stayed. I am proud to be an America and would never make a statement like Michelle Obama. She should be ashamed of herself. If she wants to be first lade she better get rid of those clothes she wears and fix that hear or stay in the kitchen and wash dishes.

Worku: Lets hope the Clinton supporters turn them cheek to support McCain if Clinton bows out and give the presidency to John McCain. Do we want dumb inexperienced former salesman that has no intelligence to form his own speeches in the white house? What is the matter with the white people today. If black people gave Obama their votes the whites should support Hillary. I would never vote for a candidate that is l/2 black Kenyan whose father was not a citizen of America only his mother was. Plus he was raised between Hawaii, Indonesia and Kenya and has a terrible Kenyan accent. I want a president without another countries accent, a person that a black person that was born and raised in this country and not half of another country especially Kenya and South Aftica. I would be a fool to vote for someone like that. This is America and I don’t want to belittle America. Wake up. If you don’t respect America then move on out.

Judy: What intergrity does Obama have. He is as stupid as they come. Cannot even form his own speeches without Patrick, cannot make decisions on his own without Patrick. Get a life and face realtiy. What we have running for president is a former salesman, a liar, a phony, unitelligent candidate that has people like you eating up his garbage that he shoots out of his mouth. That’s why you and most of this generation of boozers and druggers like Obama are coming out to vote for him. He is in the same league as they are. Wild and Wooley in this prime. What else can we find out about him that hidden behind the door. I know he did not earn enough money selling so Rezko gave him $400,000, $300,000 of that to buy his house, and $100,000 he did not return yet. Why didn’t he visit him in prison? Hillary doesn’t have to have someone buy property for her because she is not a pauper’s millionaire with only 1.5 million to her name. They have between 40 to 50 million dollars which they earned not given to them by a crook.

onyekaba: Obama doesn’t know how to do his homework because he don’t have the brains to form his speeches. He left his brains at the college and forgot to take them back. So Patrick is his brains now, makes his decisions and gives him his full speeches and the public thinks he has a speech writer. No one should us someone elses speeches that is not even their husband but a governor of another state not even Illinois. Patrick wants to be the VP and if Obama is elected you will see a mess in country like you never seen before and kick yourself in the butt for voting him in. What are you going to say then. Don’t say anything, just sit down and drink until your drunk and if that don’t work take some of Obama’s drugs.

Obama is the best candidate. And he will inspire talented young Americans to work for the government, for the first time since Kennedy.

I live in Texas and like most Dems., have little to no repsect for Aaron Pena. He’s an openly self-serving politician who continues to publicly support heavy-handed Repub. House Speaker Tom Craddick. But he’s unlikely to lose his current primary fight because he unfortunately lives in a historically politically corrupt district.
Here are just a few of Pena’s “accomplishments”:
– Rented an apt. for a fifteen year old
– Voted to cut funding for Texas’ CHIP program
– Voted against cancer cure research fund (later approved by voters statewide)
– Co authored two bills to increase his pension
– Voted to give teachers a pathetic $1.25 a day raise
– Didn’t cast a vote regarding banning gays and lesbians as foster parents (even conservative Senate Repubs. opposed)
– Didn’t cast a vote for the teacher fingerprint bill to protect kids
– Was absent 16 times on votes regarding the voter id bill

HILLARY CLINTON’S 35 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE BS: The first 15 years she spent in “public service” she worked for the biggest law firm in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her goal then: make as much money as possible, ethics be damned. Almost forgot her stint working in Goldwater’s campaign for president. Then there was White Water, Travelgate Vincent Foster, et al. Then there was her job working at Wal-Mart where she did an outstanding job of fighting off the workers attempts to organize a union for collective bargaining. And what a disaster her health plan was. When she took the DC Bar exam she failed twice. By then, she was fighting against the “Vast right-wing conspiracy.” Stole items from the White House and later gave them back – only because she was caught. The most extensive experience this woman has is serving tea to foreign dignitaries. Claimed to be a New Yorker so she could run for the senate. She has a reputation of being the queen of earmarks and recently secured a 1.5 million dollar earmark awarded to a Harlem minister who endorsed her candidacy for President. She also has accepted more corporate donations than any of the Republican candidates.
Voted to authorize Iraq war; voted to give Bush power to go to war against Iran and praised NAFTA. AND: Do you want an ex-con for a Co-President?

Ughhh. It’s disheartening to see so many angry, biased and uneducated people who call themselves “Americans”. Please, it’s time for this country to grow up and move forward. Give the young, intelligent and very forward thinking Senator, Barack Obama, a chance to take this country in a positive direction. I could care less what his middle name is. What’s yours? Do you judge everyone by their name? What’s in a name….you guys are off the charts crazy. Grow up and act civilized. Set good examples for your children, neighbors and the rest of the world. We all should be thinking about how to make the world a better place.

What do you think? Are rumors of her demise premature?
Jake, to answer your question, instead of rant incoherently like many of the commenters — of COURSE it’s not premature. The easiest way to determine this is to flip the script: Would people be saying it was “premature” if HILLARY had won the last 11 races in a row??? (counting the Democrats abroad one, yes it’s 11)
Of course not! They’d be ridiculing Obama for still being in the race at this point! Baying for his blood, accusing him of “destroying” the Democratic party, all kinds of crap.
Clinton needs to step aside immediately after March 4th, unless she has blowouts over Obama in every race. Be gracious and smart, and unite the party, Hillary.

vi, please don’t speak for African Americans, the majority understand why he couldn’t be there (Black Union Address). As far as Hillary is concerned she only showed up to try and make amends and try and win back the black vote when previously she had offhandedly dismissed the black vote with her marginalization and insensitive remarks about Dr. King and let’s not forget Bill’s insensitive inuendos
Also vi read Hillary’s book and she thought NAFTA was a great if not one of the greatest accoimplishment of her husband’s presidency. yes I paraphrased but I at least did my homework, you should try it.

To all those discussing the fact that Obama does not write his own speeches. The majority of the politicians do not write their own speeches, they have aides who do that for them. Of course they may add a line or two of their own but for the most part they have professional writers do that. Do you really think Clinton writes her own speeches? She is just bitter because his speeches are better written and are inspiring while all her writers can do is think of irrelevant mud slinging immature writing tactics that do nothing but make her look and sound like a hurt middle school girl who didn’t get picked for the volleyball squad. Grow up Clinton and Wake Up America. Stop wasting my time and corporate money on a losing battle!
