Clinton Draws Comparison Between Bush and Obama
ABC’s Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton went further than she ever has in comparing the platform Pres. George W. Bush ran on in 2000 with the message of change that Sen. Barack Obama is pushing.
Speaking in Cincinnati, OH, Clinton said, “People talk a lot about change in this election. We have lived through some of the worst change.” In 2000, Clinton said, “people thought they were getting ‘a compassionate conservative’ — it turned out he was neither and we have lived through the consequences of those mistakes.”
Clinton continued to draw the comparison: “You know, when he ran for office he promised change, didn’t he, he promised he would keep our country safe, he promised he would tackle global warming. He never said anything about taking our balanced budget and a surplus and throwing it out the window.”
Clinton went further, growing more and more animated, shouting, “He didn’t say anything about the kind of change he would bring, where he was willing to totally dismantle our environmental regulations. Where he wanted to put the government totally under the control of the special interests. Where his cronies and allies in politics and government in business were going to be taken care of and the American people were basically were going to get the short end of the stick.”
Clinton concluded, saying, “He promised change as a compassionate conservative and the American people got shafted.” Clearly Clinton is attacking the message of change, hoping to solidify support in Ohio, a state she desperately needs to secure the nomination.

Apparently, she forgot that “change” was a part of her own message and the core message of Bill Clinton’s candidacy. Her message is changing by the minute now, though, and this one isn’t going to work either. Will anyone in their right mind think that any comparison between Bush and Obama is valid? I don’t think so. Swallow that bitter pill, Hillary. Pack it in and make peace.

GoforOsama,
Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. He doesn’t care about you. Just vote for McCain (who isn’t even right-wing nut) and stop with the ridiculous comparisons and politically-motivated name-calling. Republicans want change as well. If they didn’t, Giuliani would be your nominee. Wake up.

I have one more thing Hillary can say in her campaign. Obama is Cheney cousin they are more of the same. oops more of the same is Obama trade mark.
What is so hard for the Clintons to do. It’s time to say good bye Hillary. Come out with your head up maybe I’ll vote for you next time as a senator.

Excuse me, but I thought just a couple of days ago she was talking about how George Bush changed this country for the worse. Now, I think she is either saying that “these characters talk change but do not make change” or, alternatively, “Fear change.” Why should we fear change? Is she saying we can’t trust Obama’s change because it will be the same type of change that Bush brought????

Barack Obama will make Americans proud to be Americans again. You can call that “change”or call it “a change back” even, but whatever you call it the Clinton’s cannot do that.

He doesn’t respect this country. He is ashamed to wear lapel pin coming with excuses for not wearing it.
His was never proud of this country until now. What nonsense?

Clinton Quote: “He never said anything about taking our balanced budget and a surplus and throwing it out the window.”
Clinton is referring to Bush in this quote but I remember her supporting Bushs’ war which cost this nation 2 trillion dollars when it’s all said and done. I think Hillary is part of the problem and not the SOLUTION!
I want change.

What Clinton left out is this;
Bush also promised that he was a Uniter and that he would work across the isle and reach out to Democrats and Independents, see what we got 7 years later. Democrats were shut out until the election of 2006.
Obama is running on the same theme here as if this is new. Obama hot rhetoric has no beef behind it.
Democrats need to wake up! Waaake up people! This election is too im[portant for all Americans. Don’t allow crossover votes in primary create this illusion for us. The votes won’t be there in the fall.

I hope you are not including me in the group that hates Obama. He just doesn’t inspire me. I’ve already had my exposure to the world of professors. What you are seeing is classic Freud transference, in the form of mass hypnosis, by someone who is a highly compelling speaker.
Best of luck with your internal conflicts.

Every week Hillary’s campaign comes up with a new attack on Obama. What she doesn’t realize is that she should stop attacking and concentrate on the things she will do to fix the country. Apparently she doesn’t understand that most people cringe at the negative attacks.

Al, San Fran…
I don’t think that these are all Obama haters. There is a great deal of frustration that Barack is not being vetted. If you have been watching the debates and more importantly Baracks comments regarding our military, it is a glaring reminder that this young man is not yet ready for the most difficult job in the World. No one really even knows who he is. This is a terrific advantage for him. He needs to be tested before being handed the keys to the White House.
What’s the hurry.

Barack has become a cult-like figure sponsored by those who have no knowledge of history or political science. His real record is one of winning by default and doing nothing of record while a political figure. It is no wonder he is compared to Bush and Bush’s political stunts. They are both cut from the same deceptive cloth and their speeches are pure b.s. The crossover voters know he will be easy to defeat. Will the war go on longer..of course. The only way the middle east will stop fighting now is if they finally blow themselves up to kingdom come..which is what they have been trying to do for years.

Obama paints Hillary with the “status quo” brush and everyone is happy to be on board his train fueled not by his powerful original rhetoric but the words that inspired a generation before him to take action that made it possible for him to run for President. Hillary has already been where Obama is. She has already been inspired to action and she has already taken brave decisive action and faced the consequences of those actions. Obama has yet to stand on new ground, to leave his footprints on any new battle ground, to suffer any wounds and recover and fight again. That is the insult so many feel when we hear those words spoken by a “wanna be warrior”.
Hillary has always been proud of her country and has taken on issues when they weren’t popular. It was Hillary, not Obama that as a lone woman Washington outsider marched into the halls of Congress and began the talks with both sides of the aisle about health care. She made a difference for all Americans because of what many paint as a failure, she made it possible for Obama to talk about universal health care. It is easy for Obama to be the Monday morning quarterback, he wasn’t there. Obama has done those “usual inspiring things” that many citizens of my generation see ordinary citizens to doing everyday. It was Hillary who went to China, as First Lady and spoke out for the rights of ALL women and demanded in China that our rights are human rights. Hillary is powerful and will take us to new frontiers that Obama has yet to glimpse, because she has already been where he is now. In fact he is the “status quo”. Hillary is the visionary, the fearless powerful leader and it is she who will lead this country and the world to a better place.

Sweetness, Obama has gone to the same Christian church for 20 years. He prays to Jesus. He has and will continue to pledge allegiance to the flag. Of course he sings our national anthem. I have no doubts about his patriotism. When he is president he will have better care for veterans. He will make sure our soldiers have the best equipment. He is for the soldiers, not Haliburton.

I heard her staff skipped out of a New Hampshire office without paying rent. Seriously. It was only about $500 for the week (wish rent was that cheap where I live), but they skipped on it, and haven’t returned the guy’s e-mails and phone calls for over a month.
The landlord was equally upset at the mess they left behind.

Agreed on Iraq. Both believe in wiretaps of American citizens (Although Hilliary just does it to her “enemies” just like Nixon) Both want to go into Iran. Both have “pet projects” that will bankrupt this country. Bush with his ocupying the whole middle east, Hilliary with her nationalized health care that will forces you to pay for coverage you don’t need, while limiting if and when you get an operation. (See Canada for further details) Both support a carbon tax that would tax each person on how many children they have, or otherwise carbon dioxide (what we exhale and plants BREATHE, rather than carbon monoxide which causes smog and other air pollution, and is being produced on a far higher level in unregulated China) Both have lied and subverted justice, Hilliary in numberous cases with her law firm, and travel office firings, and failure to explain how a convicted felon was able to raise money for her Senate campaign in ’99. (See Peter Paul) Not to mention Vince Foster and the Waco fiasco. And Bush with his 935 lies that got us into Iraq, and his unwillingness to disclose his secret energy policy meetings. Not to mention his selling of our national resources to the UN, (Why does a national park now have signs calling a private UN property?) and the Dubai ports deal, just to name the few we know about. No sir, it seems that Hilliary and Bush have FAR more simlarities than most people think…

But McCain is the lesser of the 2 evils (Obama vs. McCain). At least McCain has experience. Let hope that the remaining states and the Super Delegates wake up and support Hillary in 08.

df123 – that line is getting old.
Let’s review. Obama puts out a mailer that includes a Clinton quote that is supportive of NAFTA. Clinton, who just two days ago was honored to be in Obama’s company, now calls his campaign shameful.
Here on the message boards, Clinton supporters continue that shameful thread, while Obama supporters point out the quote is accurate and wonder why the persona change on Clinton’s part.
And now we see the obligatory “Obama supporters are all so mean…” post.

Finally Hilary speaks the truth. Both Obama and Bush are inexperienced people for the job. Bush did a horrendous job and President why? Because the people voted an inexperienced individual. The same thing will be with Obama. He doesn’t know what he is doing he is all about talk and not about solutions. He is only saying what you all want to hear. But, if you listen carefully he doesn’t even make sense sometimes. This country will never boom if he is elected. That is why Hilary it the best choice.

I was hoping that after the debate in Texas the other night, Clinton might realise that running a positive campaign about why people should vote for her is what people want to hear.
And I think comparing Obama to Bush is a bit of a stretch really. To the people suggesting Bush’s level of experience in 2000 was similar to Obama’s today, well if that is the case then Clinton has a similar level of experience as well.

it is amusing to see obamamaniacs declaring victory way too prematurely. It ain’t over until it’s over.
With big Latino turnouts expected in Texas, older working-class Ohio voters sticking to her like rust, and friends in Pennsylvania like Governor Edward Rendell and Philly’s popular new mayor Michael Nutter, Clinton can still nab the nomination. Fence-sitting super-delegates would quickly warm to a three-state sweep.

No wonder the Republicans are nominating such a weak canidate, Hilliary has been their ahem, “girl”, ALL ALONG!!! Just stop kidding us with your claims that your a Democrat. Bill was a fiscal Republican, with liberal foriegn policy. Hilliary has become a George Bush big spender on steroids, with the warfare and welfare/ healthcare expansions. If she is the nominee, the economy will get far worse, and what you have left over will be spent on mandated, peicemeal health care coverage, while you will be denied routine medical procedures that you are entitled to recieve today. And the rest will be spent paying for the cost of cheap goods and labor from Mexico, and Communist China, while you and your children be left with dead end service jobs, and no way to get out from under the crunch of BIG government. Ahh yes, I just can’t wait for the world of Hilliary!!! Oops, I mean the empire. Bush wanted to conquer the world, Hilliary just wants to conquer US!!!

I applaud you for your insight.
I always chcukle when I see the media and Obama supporters gleefully claim they are uniting alot of republicans and the independants to their side. We Americans just love a feel good concert dont we? But I will bet you my next 3 paychecks that when they go to the booth in Nov… they will sigh and say ***Well this was a Fun Exciting race***as they mark the McCain box, and Bush-lite will enter the Oval Office.
The Talking heads will be shaking their empty heads wondering how they could have called this one wrong? The Hannity’s and the Limbaughs will sing joyously through the airwaves, chortling about just how exciting but EASY it was to reclaim the Dome and the Obama supporters will look at each other stunned in the realization that THEY just handed the Country to another Republican for another 4 years.
Another proud moment in the history books for the UnInformed Voter!

95% of Obama are either delusional, fools or both. They live in another world (for example: All those actors and TV stars- they don’t do a damn thing and they get paid millions). So I should listen to people like Oprah? Give me a break! A chimp fooled them twice and wrecked the House. Now history is going to repeat themselves. I think in the end it comes down to this: How do we see these two candidates from our own experiences? Hillary to me might seem a little anally retentive but she”s like that school teacher you had in grade school -not much fun but predictable. Obama is that guy who’s wild and has tried everything. He’s smooth as silk and can charm a hermit-crab from its shell.
I didn’t vote for Bush because I could tell he was a chimp from the beginning. You knew he was a train-wreck just waiting to happen. You can tell by his history of alcohol abuse and wimping out from military duty that he was just “special.” With candidates I look for the indiscretions that they made as youths because that is the time when they really show their true fortitude. Obama used cocaine. To me that’s an automatic no-no. I can’t explain it away to my kids…so I’m voting Hillary.

From reading this blog it appears that the Republicans will win again in November and we will be in Iraq another 100 years and will probably start a war in Iran! This is because if the Democratic candidate that some of you are supporting doesn’t win, you’ll take your marbles and go home!!! I am an Obama supporter, but if Hillary is the nominee, I’ll vote for her. I think Obama is a great person. But I’m from Texas and I remember how Bush presented himself and how charasmatic he was. No real experience and lots of hidden stories that the press didn’t or wouldn’t pick up on.
You can take any two people and run them against each other nationwide. If you have a biased press who is sitting on negative stories for one and dredging up old negative stories on another guess what happens?
The media has created Barack Obama and destroyed Hillary. Their bias and characterization of her is not just unfair it’s proof that journalism in America has become a sideshow. The constant attack on one candidate and deifying another has taken it’s toll.
This story is really not about the slanted stories we are seeing or the Rezco story that is not being told. This story is about an American election being sold like a supermarket product not by special interests but by a slimey press effort.

I am seeing a whole lot of talk about voting for McBush if Hillary doesn’t get her win. How can this be??? Obama and Hillary struggle to find differences on their positions and the only real question is who is best to acomplish the same goals. The truth is I am an Obama fan and have already voted for him in CO proudly, but if Hillary wins I’ll vote for her because we can’t afford four more years of McBush. I’m starting to wonder if Mccain supporters are starting to try to pull the Dem base apart. Any good Democrat knows that either Obama or Clinton would be better than McCain. Obama is winning states because Hillary’s campaign was run in a stupid fashion. She spent too much cash on Super Tuesday and banked on the fact that she would be the big leader at the end of the day. As it turned out it was a lot closer than that and Baracks campaign has been winning since. She has fired her campaign director and had other mis fortunes on the campaign trail so in my eyes is that is at least paart of why she is behind. I also see that Barack has inspired a mass of voters and brought a record number to the polls. But my point is we have to remain a united party and stop threatening to vote for the rep.

I am glad Hillary has made the case of comparing Obama to Bush. They are very much the same in their inexperience in foreign affairs and their claims of being a uniter. Bush turned out to be the greatest divider this country has ever seen. His inexperience left us open to the 9/11 attack because he didn’t heed the warnings. Besides her years on the armed services committee, Hillary did spend 8 years in the White House. She has already traveled all over the world meeting foreign leaders. She already knows what they are about and where they stand. She has had the best democratic adviser in Bill Clinton, the only winner in a long list of democratic losers. This is a team we desperately need in this unstable time in our country. Do NOT elect another inexperienced “not ready for prime time” candidate. John Kennedy brought Bobby into the White House and helped him gain first hand experience. Hillary has been by Bills side learning first hand what it takes to get things done. Hillary has been an excellent student and this shows in the way she knows every intricate detail on issues. I keep hearing how Washington needs to be changed. You can’t make change if you don’t know how the system works. Hillary will get things done. With the help of the democrates in office she WILL achieve universal health care.

People who think experience matters are leaning toward Clinton or McCain. I can’t understand why someone with no record gets the benefit of the doubt, new is not automatically better. And of course Sen O did not vote for the war, he wasn’t in the Senate! and since he has been there, he has voted almost the same as Sen Clinton.
I want a person with a grasp of details to be my President. Getting the story of the ammunition right matters and I am glad that no less than Senator Warner is looking into this. It matters that the words you use are your own and not copied or given to you by someone else. If you say you are going to run a positive campaign then do it. If you say you are going to accept public funds for the general election then do it. It is not enough to be elected and then not show up–missed votes and “present” votes look an awful lot like ducking responsibility to the average voter. These are just a few reasons there is a growing group of ClintonMacs.

Obama & Bush are very similiar. The media spins for Obama and they did for George in the last election. Both had messages of hope and a yes we can attitude. Hillary is the “ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES AND GET IT DONE” candidate.

Yes, the comparison between Barrack H, and George W is just what I was thinking. Nevertheless, Barrack is leading on the delusional votes “his words not mine”, is like comparing George winning his second term of his Presidency, which I said almost 4 years ago who are this delusional voters making the second mistakes in their life.
If its broken “fix” it don’t “change” it.
I know Hillary R, she can “Fix It”
Barrack careful on on chastising old politics of Washington, I think they are the “Super Delegates”
I am a Democrat, but if Barrack wins I am voting for John M

Except when Obama speaks you can find every single word he says in a dictionary of the English language.
Pwned.

How in the world can anyone in good conscience blame Obama for what Hillary is choosing to do or say in this campaign? Obama has no need to do or say anything negative about Hillary because she is airing all her dirty laundry just fine by herself. Anyone with internet access can Google NAFTA/HealthCare, read her issues page on the website, her Blue Print for Change doc, or simply read her book to find her stance/vote etc on any issue. Does advocating NAFTA make her a terrible person? No, it doesn’t. I believe at the time Hillary honestly believed it was a good idea and then later realized it wasn’t. All she had to do was “own” her mistakes and to say she acknowledges the problems and is working the solutions.
Hillary’s campaign style is her own and anything that happened based on decisions made collectively by her team is hers to own. She is the “commander in chief” of her own campaign. How is that Obama’s fault? How can anyone fault Obama for what the media chooses to post? He gets slammed regularly but he carefully weighs what to ignore and what to respond to and is certain to respond in a way that does not make him discredit his own campaign. How can you blame the man for his campaign style and the fact that it works???? What is worse is when folks choose to deliberately close their eyes to the obvious and blame a man who is not at fault for the choices Hillary makes.
Hillary is ultimately responsible for her own campaign. The fact that the Democratic Party because of infighting is being split severely down the middle to the point where folks are saying there is no way they would vote for the Democratic nominee but would rather vote in favor for someone who sees no issue with a 100 year war an embarrassment. What does that say about our core values as a Democrat?
You know, I have 4 kids. Some of you are parents to hear me out, as Mother/Parents when our kids make a mistake our first instinct should not be to pretend it didn’t happen or that the fault belongs to someone else. We raise them to “own” that mistake and to accept responsibility. It speaks to their character. Also, making a mistake is not a big deal. We are all human, everyone makes mistakes, and as long as you learn from them and try not to repeat those mistakes . . . most times you are forgiven even if it is not forgotten, and things work out just fine.
Personally when this campaign started I knew nothing about Barrack Obama. I liked Hillary and wanted her to win. That is until I saw her behavior and its impact on our party, on the attitudes of the women, and the country. We need to realize one basic thing and that is anyone can see via a simple click of a mouse or a visit to the library the stance of a candidate, their voting records, their performance records, their stance on issues (i.e. NAFTA, Healthcare) etc. and we can watch it in action via you tube and other video records. To allow the spirit of Americans especially women to change from being nurturers to being divisive, mean spirited, ignoring common truths and the behaviors and discussions that are going on regarding this campaign and choosing to do “ABSOLUTELY NOTHING” to put out the flames by leading by example. . . . . I don’t know what to say. Know that this is the closest a woman has come to being elected President of the United States and it would be a shame to allow the negativity in this campaign to set us back to the point where folks begin to question whether a woman is ready to effectively run and win the race for Presidency after all.
For someone to say “I am a Democrat, but if Barrack wins I am voting for John M” I question your beliefs and your true motive for the well being of America and the character of your candidate.

If I were American I would be voting for Obama. He seems like the best candidate for the job. Vote Obama, it’s simple.

so far he did nothing since he became senator, he never brought any changes, he never did anything for American people. what about health care as he mention in last debate…
i believe in realistic not talk..
as people says show me beef…

Does Hillary Clinton have dissociative identity disorder, or does she simply believe Americans are stupid? She has been completely unable to deliver a consistent message. She accuses Obama of plagiarism during the Texas debate, then wraps things up by blatantly rips off John Edwards in her closing statements. Does that make any sense? She started this campaign with 30 years experience, which she quickly expanded to 35 years of experience, and expanded again to a LIFETIME of experience. Now she is blasting the idea of “change” and trying to paint anyone who promises change in a negative light by making comparisons to George W. Bush. Is this the same woman who said “I EMBODY change” in the debate that took place after Obama won Iowa? This woman will say absolutely anything to get elected. If anyone is like GWB, it is Hillary. Both believe the Presidency is their birth right.
To raj: Yes, “show me the beef”. As NY Senator, Hillary Clinton has done nothing to bring jobs to economically depressed areas of NY, but now she’s hitting the road to spread her empty promises and embellished list of accomplishments to the people of Ohio?

I’m a Democrat that supports neither Clinton or Obama. We had many candidates at the start of the primary season that I liked, but they have all dropped out because the media only would pay attention to the 2 super stars that we now have left. But I am a true Democrat and will vote for either Clinton or Obama over McCain not only because this country can’t survive four more years of Repugnican rule, but because the next president will probably nominate one supreme court judge and may nominate two. McCain has already promised to nominate judges in the character of Thomas and Scalia. If we end up with more judges of their caliber, This country won’t be fit to live in for the rest of my lifetime. That’s not the country I wish to leave to my children and grand-children.

To Concerned: Your argument does not
convince me to vote for Obama. McCain
is not perfect, but we know his record,
who he is, where he stands. The
same goes with Hillary. But Obama is
a different story. He says one thing
in his speeches, and does something
different under the table. Even his
words are not his own. Plus he has no
record to convince me that he is a
qualified leader. So, if you are
really concerned about this country,
vote for Hillary. Again, McCain is
also an acceptable candidate. And if you
are really concerned about this country, vote in the best interest of this country, not according to party-lines or race or gender.

McCain is NOT an acceptable candidate. With his promise to appoint more Judges to the Supreme Court like Thomas and Scalia. We may as well tear up the Constitution and tell the rest of the world to go to hell if that happens. Search the web and read these creeps’ opinions on torture, the first and fourth amendments, capital punishment, executive power, and allowing voter disinfranchisment. I’d vote for Nader before I’d vote for McCain.
Posted by: Concerned | February 25, 2008, 1:08 am 1:08 am
If you think McCain will be any better than Bush you must be insane. Read his Platform. It is like a direct follow up of bush’s desires. For the good of nation look at what your going to vote for if Hillary doesn’t win the nomination. He has plenty of time in Washington and plenty of policies to keep us on the same path we’ve been on for the last 8 years. So go ahead and make your rational decision to continue the Bush legacy instead of vote for a Dem that has the same plans as Hillary, a much better campaign, more charisma and less time in a broken political system. All said and done I will vote for either Dem over McCain and I am finding it highly disturbing how many people are willing to through their ideals away because they’re butt hurt that their fav isn’t winning. Stop threatening to defect if you would do that you are not a real Democrat and the movement towards a better America doesn’t need you.

“Yes We Can” I have been following this race for months now. I started out saying I was voting for Hillary. Then I decided to really get into and decide. I am a black man who is opposed to seeing colors or nuances that people may have. I am sure that we all have had dealings with people we once thought were okay, but later we learned that we must distance ourselves from them because of what they represent; I have, its life.
Hillary, since I been following politics 24/7 has left a lot of things out(e.g. Tax returns). She critizes Obama on health care, and when he responds, she burst out to the world in anger. She supported NAFTA. During CNN’s debate when Obama exposed her health care plan in her face saying “it forced people who couldn’t afford it to buy it or that she would go after their wages.”
It’s all tactics. Barack Obama, may be just a speaker in the media (or at least thats how the media portrays it), but Hillary called lobbyist real Americans, so what am I or you?
Its a race to Nominee, she wants it. Does it really matter who he knew and who he knows? Apparently, he still has his own agenda. I love it. I am not trying to sway anyone to vote a certain way, but I am saying while the media exploits him for certain things, then why not exploit Hillary on her personal endeavors and dealing as well.
Hillary, stop chaning your damn campaign. Obama is standing for what he believes in and he isn’t changing his campaign to suite the area he is needing to win. Hillary, you can’t even manage you camp and people are being shifted from level to level. Is this what you plan to do for America?

if wearing a lapel pin, or being marrying to a presidentm or being a prisoner of war, or voting for the disaster in iraq indicates loyalty, experience and leadership, we really are one messed up country and deserve the stale alternatives that clinton and mccain offer.
we have survived the worst presidency in our history, folks. there is not one area in the collective american experience which is better than it was when bush became president–i dare you to find one. so what is it you want?
if obama proves a weak and ineffective president, that will be a relief and allow congress and the courts to assume larger roles in the government, but if he delivers on his promises then we take a step toward renewing our position as a great nation.
i am unaware that any of the candidates is as pure as their supporters would have us believe. mccain has had a long history of connections with special interests, clinton has her own past dating from her days in arkansas. and obama, probably plays dirty politics just like the others. but being good is not about being a good and effective leader.
i happen to prefer a leader who speaks of hope, i am tired of fear.
