Count All the Votes!

It’s like the Florida recount, but in Harlem.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was shortchanged hundreds of votes in several largely African American precincts in New York City, the New York Post reports.

Eighty election districts in New York City didn’t record a single vote for Obama. Thousands for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and hundreds for former No. Carolina Sen. John Edwards, somehow did.

As the New York Times reports, in one largely black district in Brooklyn, the initial tally was 118 to 0, a Clinton sweep. A review showed the actual result was 118 for Clinton, 116 to Obama.

Officials are blaming it on human error.

Human error that somehow almost entirely worked against Obama.

I’m certain Clinton and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., will get right on the case!

No one questioned the 0 recording for Obama to begin with? That’s the weird part of this story. So would those votes have put him over the top?

Wow. Seriously? How is this not a top story on every network and website? Human error in Clinton’s home state tallies no votes for her opponent. Why is no one in the party calling shenanigans?

Obama’s votes not counted in Clinton’s home state. WHAT A SURPRISE!
Oh, Clinton. Of all the things to stoop to. For someone who pretends to care about the voters’ voices, you sure proved you lied AGAIN.
Say no to CLINTON THE CHEAT.
Obama 08!

Let’s see…false Obama mailer in IA and NH (and tearing up), over 1600 reports of voter intimidation against Obama voters in NV, anti-Obama voting discrepancies in CA, NY, and NM, false Obama mailer in WI…what will Hillary come up with next? Why are people voting for this woman? Is she really the kind of person we want running the most powerful country in the world? She scares me!

Posted by: Janet | February 17, 2008, 8:55 pm 8:55 pm

Angel, did you read neither the article nor the comments? Jake didn’t say the discrepancies were ONLY against Obama, but that the errors “almost entirely worked against Obama”. Can you spot the difference?
If you don’t have time to READ, then please don’t waste your time POSTING.

Want to count all the votes?
Then count Michigan and Florida.
The whole idea that there is a “battle” is completely artificial and can easily be resolved.
When?
The day we decide to COUNT ALL the VOTES.
D in democrat must be for dumb.
All they need to do is decide that ALL states votes COUNT and not use the vote as a means to punish for some alternate, arbitrary reason.
In view of the circumstances it really looks like they are not getting the BIG picture over some stupid little detail of no apparent value.
Folks they just made up that rule to punish – that should not stretch to IMPEDE a MORE legitimate vote count.
Figures that Florida plays into it.
With a dose of common sense and some badly needed reality we can go forward in a positive way.
So I guess then all the slobbering, gushing, obviously- star struck obama groupies can find another gig.
Trust me if the votes being withheld had gone to obama you would hear nothing but a bunch of cry babies about it, all day long…
Maybe they should leave politics to the grownups that understand what is real and what is a borrowed artifice.
It is not about age, but maturity.

Go, Obama!
I’m wondering where Hillary will stop in her attempts to win! I just can’t believe zero votes for Obama in Harlem didn’t cause ANYONE to question the results! I would be so HAPPY if, after a fair recount, Obama actually WON New York! Wouldn’t Hillary be…toast, then? She might be toast anyway! Oh, I so hope! We NEED Obama! If Hillary gets nominated, we’ll have another REPUBLICAN regime and we’ll be at war for another 4 years at least! GO, OBAMA! Yes, we can! Si, se puede! Yes, we HAVE TO!

Can we recount the previous votes for Hillary’s senate seat in NY as well?

Yeah so I guess we’re stuck listening to the bunch of Clinton-supporting cry babies instead. Boo hoo.

This is just another pro-Clinton mistake/lie/obstruction. These powerful political families are almost like a mafia. They are scary…

Voting is a constitutional right.Every man and woman who has fought and died has not made this sacrific so politicians can take it away.Florida and Michigans voters all knew that thier votes would be discounted but they turned out in record numbers. The republicans took half of the delagates away fron these two states did the dnc oh no why be fair.Floridas votes should count with the delagates cut in half. The ballot carried all the candidates and everything was equal. As to those who say the voters didnt get to hear campaign speaches, well Florida does have televisons, newspapers and the internet. We havent voted in my state yet but I’ve watched debates and rallys by all the candidates. As to Michigan do a revote(EVEN THO 4 OUT OF 6 CANDIDATES NAMES WERE ON THE BALLOT OBAMA REMOVED HIS INEXPERIANCE HELPED THERE)cut the delagates and stop the democrates from tearing themselves apart

Hah: This is what the Clintons had in mind all along!
They were arrogant enough to think they would cakewalk to the nomination, but if worse comes to worse they would bribe enough “super(stupid) delegates to give Hillary Clinton the nomination!

This story doesn’t make any sense. It states that Obama was short changed by hundreds of votes but then says eighty election districts didn’t get a single vote for Obama. If that is the case then it should be more than hundreds of votes. I think you need to get your facts together.

Posted by: Firefighter | February 18, 2008, 1:01 am 1:01 am

That’s weird. The story is wrong to a degree. The numbers were off for both Clinton and Obama. Bottom line. Clinton legitimately won. She had more votes as well. Oh well, a nothing story got us all worked up.

You can bet if this did involve a major problem against Obama, the story would be running non-stop on all media outlets. The reason it is not is that it does only involve “hundreds” of votes, not thousands. There was no impropriety on any campaign’s part, and Mrs. Clinton’s vote count was underestimated as well. Obama followers will not doubt try to make more of this, suggesting something sinister. Certainly, every vote should count….INCLUDING those cast by voters in MI and FL! Now let’s have the story about the actual DNC rule that is disenfranchising MI and FL, and how according to that same rule Iowa, NH, and SC also broke the rules…..So where’s the fairness in all that?

This is a prime example why blacks feel their vote does not count, and their concerns are legitimate. I have 18 and 19 year old daughters who have come to me and asked if their vote will count and I assured them that it would but after this I had to do a lot of conviencing. And for all of you that want to call us Obama suppoters cry babies I find this offensive, ALL we want is honesty and fairness.

The report says in a handful of districts Hill recieved no votes. What’s a handful? Can 80 districts=handful? Thanks Hilly and Billy. Like the people that support you said, it ain’t over yet!

Jake we’ve all known about this for a while, I want you to follow up on this issue. I also want you to ask questions on the reason Sen. Clinton has refused making her tax records public. We need to know if you report issues in a fair and balanced manner. I look forward to seeing a report on those issues.

It is interesting watching the Dem primary from the outside.
Lets see they have voter fraud, miscounting of votes in hteir own primary.
The republcian primary had none
So which party is the corrupt party?? The Dems/Libs getting caught in the crime!!

Posted by: spock | February 18, 2008, 11:02 am 11:02 am

If you want fairness then vote Republican!!

Posted by: spock | February 18, 2008, 11:03 am 11:03 am

Wow! Why have we not heard this on any network. Also, why has no one pinned Clinton down on why she will not release her tax records. Where did she get the 5 million to loan her campaign? What is she hiding?

Clinton, FYI, you are making us all SICK when you try to get the Michigan and Florida delegates COUNTED! That is just Heinous, and if I were ever going to vote for you before, that just ended it. The rules were clear.. move the Primary date, lose your delegates. You signed on to that.. now SUCK IT UP! Jeez you pathetic windbag, fair is fair, and you wanting “do overs” just makes you look more and more pathetic.. So, Clinton, since you are not clear.. here are the rules! DNC rules for FL and MI STAND! Unless they hold NEW caucuses or primaries, they do NOT count.. And to think that the ones who voted matter? Even when they CAST their vote they knew it DIDN’T! To try to claim votes in states where Obama was not on the ballot, and/or didn’t campaign is EVIL! You KNOW that anywhere folks DO get to know Obama better, YOUR numbers fall, and his RISE! And the DNC rules in other states? Your time to quibble was WAY before the election.

when will people finally see through this?
this country’s federal govt is completely corrupt. when will you finally see through this?
it isn’t hard to see. this country’s political leaders are the worst liars of all mankind. i don’t trust anything they say.
case in point: 9/11. It’s proved that it was an inside job. Don’t be an idiot. Study it for yourself. Anybody who can explain the pools of molten steel in the basements of all 3 demolished towers in terms of the govts explanation … feel free to do so. I’ll prove you wrong.
how many govt leaders and media outlets have examined this story ?

Let’s get serious about facts. Last I heard, the zero tallies were in about 80 precincts for Obama and about 10 for Clinton. So, no need for finger-pointing yet. The votes need to get sorted out and the results certified. End result is that Obama may pick up one additional delegate from all this. Bigger picture is that it may add to pressure on black superd.s to listen to the voice of their constituency, which might swing another one or two delegates (though most are standing firm with Clinton even if their district went Obama). The big news would be that if at the end of the day, the delegate split is not as lop-sided as first presented and at this point, every delegate counts! Let’s all wait for Wisconsin tomorrow and see what way the wind blows.

I went and read the stories for myself and Obama wasn’t the only one who ended up with 0 votes. There were also cases where the same thing happened to Hillary. Thanks for the fair and unbiased reporting!

get a grip she doesnt count the votes or is in the precints.

Bookwerm, Obama campaigned in Florida and in Michigan. To call voters to vote against someone, is campaigning. To release a cable ad which goes across the country, is campaigning in Florida. He broke the rules.

The only people that are penalized in not counting Florida and Michigan are the people of both of those states. Really not their fault that some crazy far fetched rule is in place about a date of a primary! Seriously are we ever going to have an election that runs without any hiccups?

Posted by: BRiley | February 18, 2008, 10:28 pm 10:28 pm

It has also been reported that there has been some polling stations where Hillary got zero votes also.

FYI – Just got word the Clinton Machine is contacting convention delegates here in NV who have pledged their support to Senator Obama and asking them to vote for her at the Clark County DEM Convention this Saturday, 2/23 – certainly hope she and her “win at all costs” machine doesn’t steal the nomination. Wonder if the Machine is doing this in other states as well!
