Dems Debate Poaching of Pledged Delegates
ABC News’ Teddy Davis, Eloise Harper, and Mike Elmore Report: Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said Tuesday that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., will not go after Sen. Barack Obama’s, D-Ill., pledged delegates after an unnamed Clinton official told Politico that both campaigns would pursue such a course if there is a "stalemate" between Clinton and Obama going into this summer’s Democratic convention.
"We issued a very Shermanesque statement earlier today," said Wolfson on a conference call with reporters. "We have not, are not, and will not pursue the pledged delegates of Barack Obama. We think Sen. Obama’s campaign owes you all a clear answer as to whether they will pursue our pledged delegates."
Asked if Obama would vow not to go after Clinton’s pledged delegates, Obama spokesman Bill Burton told ABC News, "We’re not going to do that. My question is: ‘Why didn’t they deny this yesterday?’ It fits a pattern of their willingness to say or do anything to win the nomination."
The Democratic campaigns debated the poaching of pledged delegates on Tuesday because a high-ranking Clinton official told Politico that as we get closer to the Democratic convention, "if it is a stalemate, everybody will be going after everybody’s delegates." Politico also had Clinton spokesman Phil Singer saying he assumes the Obama campaign is going after delegates pledged to Clinton.
On a Tuesday conference call with reporters, David Wilhelm, an Obama supporter who managed Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign, criticized Hillary Clinton for the Politico story, saying: "Sometimes nominations are not worth having and one of those times would be when the nomination comes at the cost of ripping the party apart."
After a 1980 Democratic convention fight between Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., and then-President Jimmy Carter, the Democratic Party changed its rules so that pledged delegates — those which are allocated from winning primaries and caucuses — are not bound (not even on the first ballot). Kennedy was behind Carter in pledged delegates going into the convention. But supporters of the Massachusetts senator believed that if given the freedom to "vote their conscience," the delegates would have chosen Kennedy to be their standard-bearer.
Due to what was derided at the time as "the robot rule," pledged delegates were not allowed in 1980 to switch their allegiance to Kennedy. Carter went on to lose in the fall to Ronald Reagan.
While pledged delegates are no longer bound, it’s rare for them to switch allegiance at the convention because the respective campaigns find loyalists to serve as pledged delegates.
"They have total discretion. Pledged delegates are not bound, so they can change their mind as many times as they want," a senior Clinton adviser told ABC News last week. "Having said that, I’ve slated delegates in many elections for many candidates and they basically are wholly owned real estate."

Who becomes the democratic nominee is so much bigger than one might think…how will it really go down?
Something to consider: If Sen. Obama becomes the democratic nominee and selects an Afro-American Vice Presidential running mate is white America really ready for a double black ticket? or…would this lead to McCain taking the race in November? your thoughts?

Obama will not go after Hillary’s pledged delegates. I’m wondering if Deval Patrick will say so so we can be sure.

Obviously the blowback from this was huge… but make no mistake, the junior Senator from New York won’t bow out gracefully if she loses… she’ll destroy the party in her quest for power.

I think clinton is getting to a breaking point, she feels very strong that obama might swing the opinion of superdelegates. Many of the super delegates have commited to Clinton initially when the whole world was thinking that clinton will be democratic nominee, but now they a repenting for backing clinton. She is trying to lock them up before they change their mind. Another piece of dirty politics from Clintons.

dirty politics: Jesse Jackson Jr., supporter of senator obama, asked Emanuel Cleaver if he wanted to go down in history as someone who prevented an African American from occupying the White House for the first time. This kind of implied intimidation flies in the face of Dr. King’s dream that a person’s character, not the color of their skin, be the standard they are judged by.

And how about the Clinton gang? I sure wish there was a bigger batch of president hopefuls to pick from. I can not afford any more taxes with the Clinton gang trying to get back in. I am affraid that will happen.

I wanted HRC to win because I think she is the best candidate. Obama I can’t consider, I believe he is not a good person. The Rezco situation, plus his church and now the true color of his wife. Never really been proud to be an American. There’s to much hatred in their personas for me to even consider. McCain is a Republican that wants to be 100 years in Iraq, that is terrible. If its between Obama and McCain , I have to go with McCain. If HRC puts Obama on her ticket, Still have to go McCain. Please Bloomberg jump in this race. give us an alternative to win. The Dems have self-destructed.

I do have to give Clinton credit that her comment about Obama’s speech has hit and has people talking. I do think it is way overhyped and not a big deal. Two people were dealing with the same kind of attacks in their campaign and made an obvious point about speeches by Presidents. I am sure Clinton has wrote all her speeches. Obama has written most of his speeches and two books. His words or more his than Hillary’s whom I am sure has not wrote any of her speeches yet.

This morning there was an article citing a Clinton staffer’s statement that the Clinton ‘team’ will go after Obama’s delegates. Now this article stating that the Clinton Campaign WON’T be trying to steal Obama’s delegates and asking for Obama to makthe same pledge for her. First of all, the Clinton merry-go-round is making me dizzy. Secondly, this sounds to me like article #1 was a Clinton plant so that they could put out the 2nd one and challenge Obama to take their “high road” which is ‘we’ve nobly decided NOT to do the dishonest thing that we told you this morning that we WOULD do’. If he doesn’t fall for their trick, in a few days their spin will be to accuse Obama along the lines of ‘Obama won’t pledge against stealing delegates.’ She’s relentless. We’ll see.

As we talk about LOSERS—-It seems awful funny to me that HRC “went along to get along” when she was on Wal-Mart’s (notoriously anti-union) board of directors. Now she is trying to court those same union votes in her bid for the Presidenct. I’d like to point out to you that there are more blue collar workers in the US that there are people in HRC’s socio-demographic. How can you take the word of someone who flip-flops their position on things when it best suits them, or when it is “what is popular” at the time.

Patrick in June 2006, at the Massachusetts Democratic party convention: “I am not asking anybody to take a chance on me. I am asking you to take a chance on your own aspirations.”
Obama one year later, as quoted in USA Today: “I am not asking anyone to take a chance on me. I am asking you to take a chance on your own aspirations.”

Michelle Obama today said that “for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction.”
Michelle Obama — from the middle-class South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Princeton 85, Harvard Law 88, associate at Sidley and Austin, and eventually a high-ranking official at the University of Chicago — WAS NOT proud of her country until her Hussein Jr started winning elections.

Please DO NOT vote for Hillary Clinton:– Hillary supported NAFTA in the 1990′s. NAFTA is responsible for the USA losing hundreds of thousands of high paying jobs to companies over seas.– Hillary voted for the war in Iraq without even reading the Intelligence Report. She said she trusted George W. Bush. Hillary lacks proper judgement. The war is costing us trillions of dollars.– Hillary said at a debate on national TV that she is happy to take money from lobbyists. Hillary receives more money from lobbyists than just about any other US Senator. She is in their pockets. — Hillary can never make up her mind. She changes positions based on public opinion and she is stubborn. She does not like to compomise or bend. That will mean trouble with congress on her part and stagnation for America.– Hillary is running on her husband’s record and name. Her “experience” has not been completed revealed. She refuses to turn over her first lady records to the public.– Hillary has a loose cannon husband. If she can not keep her marriage under control, how is she going to run the country?– Hillary wants to force health care coverage on the poor and middle class. She plans to garnish wages as punishment for not joining her health care plan.Barack Obama is ahead in pledged delagates. Hillary had a chance to catch up, but lost the opportunity. Hillary can not win the nomination now and is refusing to tell her supporters that. She is not a forth coming and honest person. Plus, where are her tax returns?Barack Obama is the BEST candidate for president

Laudrema -
Thanks for your thoughts. I believe both candidates have skeltons in their closets – but in my own opinion and gut feeling I believe HRC is a very hard working individual with alot of ambition and you need to have that to run for the highest position in the country and the same can be said about Obama. He just sounds like a televanglist and can’t bring my self to vote for him.
I believe HRC want to be Prez for her own ego (as well as Obama) but I think she is sincere in wanting to do a good job. Go Hillary! I earn a substantial living and understand the daily grinds of making ends meet. I don’t think you have to be poor to understand that and I think HRC understands that as John Edwards did or does. Best of luck to you and to the country.

Jedi Mom–
Does it really matter if Obama quoted a statement or 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 10? What does it bear upon? What does it prove or reflect? How many other political leaders, attorneys etc..don’t quote other great minds…”hence the quote great minds think alike” It is a distraction intended to deflect the fact that HRC is becoming increasingly irrelevant, and she has no better weapons to do battle with than to raise such a ridiculous point.
I’d prefer to hear how she is going to make the good ole’ US of A better for me, not a nitpicking tattletale.

NAFTA was initially pursued by corporate interest in the United States and Canada supportive of free trade, led by Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and the Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari. The three countries signed NAFTA in December 1992, subject to ratification by the legislatures of the three countries. There was considerable opposition in all three countries. In the United States, NAFTA was able to secure passage after Bill Clinton made its passage a major legislative priority in 1993. Since the agreement had been signed by Bush under his fast-track prerogative, Clinton did not alter the original agreement, but complemented it with the aforementioned NAAEC and NAALC. After intense political debate and the negotiation of these side agreements, the U.S. House passed NAFTA on November 17, 1993, by 234-200 vote (132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voting in favor; 156 Democrats, 43 Republicans, and 1 independent against),[7] and the U.S. Senate passed it on the last day of its 1993 session, Saturday, November 20, 1993, by 61-38 vote (34 Republicans and 27 Democrats voting in favor; 28 Democrats and 10 Republicans against, with 1 Democrat opponent not voting).[8]

The benefits of NAFTA have been quantified by several economists, whose findings have been reported in publications such as the World Bank’s Lessons from NAFTA for Latin America and the Caribbean,[9] NAFTA’s Impact on North America,[10] and NAFTA Revisited by the Institute for International Economics.[11] Some argue that NAFTA has been positive for Mexico, which has seen its poverty rates fall and real income rise, even after accounting for the 1994–1995 economic crisis [2]. Others argue that NAFTA has been beneficial to business owners and elites in all 3 countries, but has had negative impacts on farmers in Mexico who saw food prices fall based on cheap imports from highly subsidized US Agribusiness, and negative impacts on US workers in manufacturing and assembly industries who lost jobs. Critics also argue that NAFTA has contributed to the rising levels of inequality in both the USA and Mexico. The majority of neoliberal economists believe that NAFTA has not been enough (or worked fast enough) to produce an economic convergence[12] (which is hardly surprising given the initial economic disparity between Mexico and the United States/Canada), nor to substantially reduce poverty rates. Some have suggested that in order to fully benefit from the agreement, Mexico must invest more in education and promote innovation in infrastructure and agriculture. Others believe that the agreement is fatally flawed, and should be repealed[citation needed] or replaced by a new agreement that fully harmonizes labor and environmental standards.

It is funny that you said that you didn’t know if you were voting for Obama or Patrick because Obama doesn’t know if he is running against Hillary or Bill Clinton. Michelle Obama’s remark was simply off-the-cuff and ill-considered. How many times have any one of us said something like “That was the best…”- whatever. We didn’t necessarily mean exactly that. Of course, the uncharitable among us will put the worse spin on it. Clearly, Mrs. Obama was just saying that she is extremely proud of her country. That comment will not cause her husband to lose any votes. The people who are making a big deal of it, just like Senator Obama’s “words”, were never going to vote for him anyway. So quit with the “Oh, I was going to vote for him, but these words have made my change my mind.” Rubbish! The thing to focus on is the intent of the candidates. Like one who decided to poach pledged delegates of her opponent, but was forced to retract after an outcry. Note the other thing, as much as there is to take Senator Clinton to task on, Senator Obama stays on the high road. He certainly does respond to her petty criticisms, but he concentrates on his message, not what she just said or did.

With head hack Howard Wolfson saying their campaign won’t go after Obama’s pledged delegates, this certainly means they are already aggressively doing just that.
Posted by: Jack | February 19, 2008, 2:56 pm 2:56 pm
Right now this country could use a uniter, not a divider. My only worry is that if HRC takes the nomination that enough people have such strong feelings against her because of her husband and his legacy, some of their questionable dealings, and her populist views(look at the numbers that Obama has been able to rack up…) that she won’t have the votes it takes to allow the Democratic party to re-take the White House. And then we’ll be stuck with at least another 4 years of the same…

I hope Michelle Obama is reading these blogs today. I would like to tell her I would not vote for her husband if he were the last politician on earth. He would be the worst president our great country has ever known. And our country is great Michelle and I not ashamed of my country the way you are. I have not always liked the way fellow voters have voted in the past: Bush, daddy Bush, Reagan and Nixon but that is individual people not our great country as a whole. Our country is bigger than the uninformed votes some people make. And no one has to vote for your husband to be proud of our great country.

has anyone considered that super delegates being ‘shamed’ into voting for whoever their district voted for defeats the whole purpose to the super delegates?
of course you all know this. You just love it cause that would potentially favor Obama. Dont forget to also shame every black super delegate to switch to Obama too. Anything to get the nomination you know.
The super delegates are in place to make sure a super HYPE KING doesnt sucker the public into the nomination, all to get CRUSHED in the general election. Like George Mc Govern and Jimmy Carter in 1980.
Anyone see a pattern here?

I must say I don’t believe Michelle Obama meant the comments the way they came out. Over the past eight years I have said many times that I am ashamed to be American. President Bush and his cabal made being an American a diffiecult thing for any American who had to travel overseas. Then they tried to change the meaning of patriotism. If you didn’t support their failed, dangerous and catastrophic foreign policies, then you were not a patriot. I was not proud during all that time.

I think you’re a Clintorn supporter grasping at straws, looking for any little thing to discredit Obama, just like Mrs. Clintorn” (mispelling intended). And besides, who are we voting for, his wife or him??? I think what she meant is that MOST Americans are looking beyond the color of his skin.

You call yourself a patriot but you don’t want presidential candidates to debate? They have debated once just the two of them. Once. Or has your memory been going lately since you joined the Obama cult.

Meg Kingsley, It sounds like you’re willing to vote for the Big H simply because you don’t want to wait another 10 years for another woman candidate to come along. Wow, talk about playing the gender card…
Here’s a noble concept — vote for the candidate with the best track record, someone with INTEGRITY, LEADERSHIP skills, etc. Do NOT vote for anyone based on gender, race, hair color. Good greif!
Anyone but Hillary ’8.

This whole Democratic Party selection process is a joke. The truth is the will of the people is not considered important at all. When 20 percent (superdelegates) of the voters are not even chosen by the people and the ones that are can vote however they feel and can basically be bought (poached). Now dont tell me the Clinton’s are above trying to poach delegates they will say and do anything to try to get power. The way this race is going the party is going to fall apart and McCain is going to sneak in.

NICE SPIN. DOESN’T CUT IT THOUGH.
Michelle Obama today said that “for the FIRST time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country”.
The very first time she has been proud in 44 long years. I bet if she loses the election or even the nomination she will be very much ashamed of this country.

Obama camp complains, but plans to do some poaching themselves. Why don’t you Radar pundits check with someone in authority before you put this stuff out to the public? This is a political race and I say the delegates are fair game as long as there is no intimidation. Jesse jr. shouldn’t be trying to coerce anybody. Frankly, I thought he was different but now I know better. It’s like some people trying to pick your friends.

People please do not get drawn into the trap of reducing the presidential race to gutter politics. We don’t have time for this foolishness with the many issues we have to address (i.e. the economy, war in Iraq, etc…). This business about Obama plagiarizing his speeches is a joke. The man has written 2 bestselling books and given many speeches during this election that is completely his own words. The vision and ideas of his campaign are his own. I wish Clinton would focus on her own message and engage us on the issues. It is a slippery slope to keep distorting Obama record. While Obama may have borrowed a few words from a friend on the stump, you are claiming 8 years of a presidency because you were Bill’s wife. Enough already! Obama is not an empty suit. He has more legislative experience than Clinton, (7 years in Illinois House, and 3 in the U.S. Senate) and has worked on the streets of Chicago as an community organizer.
For all this talk about being ready on the first day Obama has managed his campaign much better (grassroots outreach, fundraising, etc..). If continuing to through mud at her opponents is the only way she feel that she can be competitive Hillary has already lost. This campaign is bigger than gender or race. I am sick of this toxic, partisan politics. We have to “turn the page” and plan for the future. For all you Dems the best way to assure that McCain wins in Nov. is to nominate Clinton. With all problems McCain is having with the conservative base, Hillary is the one person who would unite them. Instead of engaging the issues of today we will be stuck fighting themes of the ‘90s (gutter politics the Clintons know how to play all too well). For the sake of progressive and a win in the Fall, Hillary has got to be stopped!

Obama supporters won’t vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination. What makes them think that Hillary supporters want to vote for Brack ?? He might get in and then you will see his divisive tactics because he won’t care what all of his “supporters” say. He will have a ring of advisers who think like he does and shove his ideals down our throats. Everyone thinks that he will get the nomination, and if he doesn’t they will riot. Then what if he doesn’t get elected, will you riot then ? By the way, I applaud Emanuel Cleaver for not caving in to the pressure.

C Depp, get a clue. Hillary wants one debate every week, but with 15+ debates so far this primary season, what else do informed voters possibly need to know? She’s desperate, and she needs the free airtime.
And how is Hillary the best person to lead us out of this ditch? Her campaign is falling apart before our eyes, but you would trust her to manage our country? Her campaign was so broke she had to lend it $5M of her own personal riches, but you would trust her with the federal budget?
Please open your eyes.

Folks, if I were one of these
two, I would swear on a bible

Immediately thereafter, I and
my staff would go after every
pledged delegate in the other
camp to. I would offer them
anything and everything that
would not land me in jail.
A weeklong date with Chealsea,
VP slot, fund raisers,

to win very very badly. They
would do the same and probably
more.

Why not debate,,,, Who cares how many time they did it before…. Each state have there own issue and concerns… Obama say Wisconsin not important to debate but Texas and Ohio is? Well that tell you what Obama think about Wisconsin and other states then!!!!! The only reason he did’t debate in the state he winning because he campaign though it might hurt them… They want hype up speeches instead talking about issue once again… Yes!!! copy speeches is a big deal, espically from a guy that don’t have no record but make speeches how he going to make changes,,,, but by stealing from other… This tell me it not from him or the heart, he just using the words playing with American people emotions… To bad there alot of young voters can’t see this… He just tell them what they want to hear… Change can be a cool word!!!!

Clinton has already shown that the rules, whether she agrees to them or not, only apply to her as she sees fit. The pledged delegates have an obligation to the voters in their districts. If the Democratic party chooses to ignore the popular vote that will be the end of the democratic party. The republican nandidate will beat an upstart Dem candidate to death with the fact that they weree not the pick of the people and that they would not be representative of what the people want. The bottom line is; Obama can get the vote out and can beat McCain hands down.

Here is some wishful thinking for you. I wish we could fire the whole bunch of candidates on either side and start over. After all, we are close to electing someone to LEAD THIS MAGNIFICENT COUNTRY. There is not one person who is qualified for this job on eilther ticket. THe caucuses are a joke, rigged in their own quiet way. There is no way that my true vote would count for anything. The wheels of the parties see to that in the way all of this is conducted. McCain is a cocky little sob…..has all the answers as he is always right. He graduated 4th from the bottom of his class. Hillary………well, those who want her only want Bill Clinton back…..and she is riding on his popularilty with no serious experience except what she grabbed as his wife. Obama has only been out there for 4 years. Andrew Young suggested that he is too young, not well seasoned and should run in 8 years. Too, wouldn’t you like to know who each will pick as their running mate? That person could be our next president in 4 to 8 years and would certainly influence my voting. It is not right that we are not entitled to know who that is now and before we vote. In fact, I would like to also know their choices for their Cabinet. We criticize other countries for the way they hold their elections, but we should start in our own backyard and clean up what I consider a total mess during this campaign. I’m sick of the entire thing…….to include the extreme length of the campaigns which overfill the coffers of the television networks as they attempt to sway us with their broadcasts and fill our TV screens with wall to wall politics. Sure, I can change the channel, so don’t tell me that. The Iowa caucuses threw away the best man for this job……..Joe Biden. Why should a state like Iowa make that decision for us when there are so many other states where they know the intelligence level is far above that of Iowa…….exceptions noted in Iowa, of course, so all of you from Iowa don’t need to climb all over me. I guess we will all just have to wait and see how this turns out. One thing sure is that regardless of who wins the Presidency, they will have a huge job cut out for them to repair the past 8 years. We have to allow them time and not expect that within the first month it is all taken care of. Patience is needed here, if you have any left after this deplorable campaigning of no common sense….only a hunger for power or an ego trip for all of them.

McCain is a moderate, a good man- he is no GWB. He is a man of honor, a patriot, a war hero. Voting for him would be an honor.
Two things the Obama zombies haven’t realized:
1)They have been very abusive of the clintons using the language of repubs, don’t seem to realize how much they have deeply offended 1/2 of the democratic party loyalists.
2)Once Obama is exposed for what he is independent support will evaporate in no time. This process started yesterday with Michelle’s comment about first time being proud of her country.

The only person crying will be Obama. Hand him a hanky in advance. When Obama finds out the voters are to smart to believe in his con game he can knock his chair over and storm out of the room the way his cousin Bush did in 2000. Or maybe he can just sneer the way his other cousin Cheney does. Either way the voters are not going to allow a Bush dynasty to take the WH another 4 years. Understand.

Obama is an inexperienced passive aggressive player who’s intentions are always a mystery — but he sounds good when he’s quoting truly great men.
People are waking up to his game. Like the “Top Secret” meeting he had with John Edwards — yet the media knew about it for the so obama could get a photo-op, on a slow Obama News day since the debate was snowed out. They even made it look like salelite photography… isn’t Obama a smart
player. I just love the passive aggressive swipes at women.
Obama will never win in a race agaist Mccain, only Hillary has a solid enough history of real change and the guts and toughness to win in a race against McCain.

If all of you “super delegates” haven’t decided, you had better give this some serious thought. Who is your candidate likely to pick for his/her running mate? That person could be elected as our next president in eight years. We, as the so-called “voters”, should know their chosen running mate, but I have read that it is too early to do that. What a bunch of hog-wash. I spoke with friends in Marietta, GA. who told me that the Governor of Georgia has been suggested as McCain’s running mate so he can get the southern vote. Politics……. It’s all a bunch of crap..pardone my language, but it is true. GWB may be the worst president we have ever had, but this election is just as bad. All of you do-gooders defend that. Can’t any of you call a spade a spade? Why do so many of you defend those who are running when you know in your heart none of them are capable of doing this job? How do we get rid of those caucuses? They have been a blight on this campaign in all directions. We could at least start them with a different state of more sophistication which would provide for a totally different outcome. I’m not a politican, so I just use common sense along with what I read and hear, coupled with lots of perception. OK, kick me. There isn’t a lot of common sense out there anymore. It disappeared with free lunches.

So can most people in America. Bush is dumb as they come. That is the point. Why would anyone ever run off of this dumb guys 2000 platform? But that is what Obama is doing.
CHANGE
I AM NOT A WASHINGTON INSIDER
I DON’T BELIEVE IN WARS IN OTHER COUNTRIES
I HAVE WORKED ACROSS PARTY LINES
( How has that worked out for all of us? )
Bush is Obamas cousin and so is Cheney. And I was born and raised in the south and Obama was not. And Obama doesn’t have a southern accent but during his sermons you wouldn’t know that. Especially during the “pretend I am MLK part.” Obama insults every southern person when he pretends to be from the south. And pretending to be MLK is beyond insulting. He was a great man, Obama is not.

It fits a Clinton pattern. Have someone release something potentially damaging on condition of anonymity. Then if there’s a reaction against it, have someone deny it on the record. And here’s the galling part – then use the disparity between the messages as indication somehow of wrongdoing on the part of opponents.

Posted by: MR | February 19, 2008, 6:30 pm 6:30 pm
MR – the potentially damaging part is the suggestion Clinton’s campaign would try to flip pledged delegates. And indicators are that it would be damaging, which led to Howard Wolfson’s strong denial of the story.
Sorry if you see that as grasping for straws.

Pa lease Paul now you’re really grasping. there is zero evidence that suggest that. That’s the problem I have with you Obamacans (right-wing republicans better known as Nazis) you throw out these accusations with nothing to go on. You people are worse than Kenneth Star.

I take no offense to anything anyone has ever said on any blog. I believe in freedom of speech of everyone no matter who they support.
The reason I stopped watching hard ball was because Chris drooling over Obama was making me sick. Go back and look at the things he has said about him. Be sure you haven’t eaten first.
And Chris ignores a he!! of allot.
There are two court cases currently in the courts involving Obama. Has Chris ever mentioned Sinclair or Rezko being in court? If the cases were involving Hillary, Chris would have several reporters stationed in the court room from day 1. Giving Hillary court alerts every night for the first half of his show. The fact that Chris can look past both of these court cases shows how he needs to be fired.
And the biggest reason Chris spits on Hillary is the fact she is a woman. Any woman that has ever been on his show he speaks to differently. I remember him talking about Michelle Obama last year and saying how nice she looked in that skirt she was wearing. First thing I thought was what in the he!! does that have to do with anything. And second, who does he think he is making that kind of remark on tv. And who cares about what she is wearing. Chris is a sexist and he shows it with every word he speaks concerning women.
And by the way, every person running for office has loaned themselves money. It just doesn’t make the front page of the newspaper the way Hillarys has. I wish to GOD everyone running for president would finance their own campaigns. It shows how much you believe in yourself. And we could take all the money we donate and give it to the poor. Put a huge dent in poverty right there. And look how much Romeny borrowed from himself. But are you talking about that?

More BS from the Clinton camp, trying to act high and mighty.
#1–how can you believe them? They said one thing about not seating the delegates from MI and FL, and now are seeking the reverse.
#2–she’s so afraid to lose any of the delegates she’s already “won,” that she wants a commitment from Obama that he won’t go after any more? Do they not think that these people can think on their own? I would hope so…otherwise they shouldn’t be a super delegate.

Calling me, everyone that points out that Obama is a empty suit and all the people of the south racists is desperate on your part. And if you think calling people racists is the way to get your guy into the WH you are sorely mistaken.
And I personally have worked on 4 DEM campaigns, am a lifelong DEM and have three degrees. Where do you get your knowledge from?
And Hillary has a solid record in the senate. More than I can say for your flash in the pan Obama. And Obama has no experience to be president. And if you want to see the experience Hillary has you need to take off your rose colored Obama glasses first.
And if you think those that support Hillary are going to walk on egg shells for the next four years if your guy skates into office you have another thing coming. I have worked against Bush the last eight years and I would work against Obama every single year he is in office. Obama thinks he can run off of Bushes 2000 campaign platform and not be called on it. No chance in he!! of that happening.
Make no mistake there are millions in America that will do the same. Color has nothing to do with it but, competence has everything to do with being president.

Well, Im sure that all politicians are really totally honest. So in this perfect world of glass, neither will poach delegates, they will shake hands kiss each other on the cheek and wish each other the best… Hillary is desperate, she never thought anybody had a chance but her. Desperate people do desperate things. She will smear Obama any way that she can. Everybody that is using Michelle as a scapegoat to not vote for Obama, Not everybody is 100% rehearsed for every question that they answer, or every statement they make. I personally believe that she has some increase in the pride level because of the entire situation. Look around you people. America is getting stronger and less divided already. The two possible democratic nominations are a black man or a woman. I’m personally proud that they are both up there. Having said that, I hope Obama wins the nomination. He’s the one….

What’s going to change? Our foreign policy should be on the forefront. We need to make friends not enemies. All candidates still have Iran as an issue when reports show there is no threat.
Sorry for the off topic.

While everyone here gets nasty about Obama and Deval they choose to turn a blind eye to Clinton getting her resume from Bill. She can’t claim to actually achieved anything personally. When experience is your claim to the nomination but your resume isn’t even your own…

This string of posts is (mostly) distressing. I understand that voters and supporters want to make their case for their candidate. If, in order to make the case FOR a candidate, supporter have to make a case AGAINST the other candidate (or his/her spouse no less), then there is a shore sign that supported candidate is tragically flawed. The only persuasive support is a positive case demonstrating the merits of a particular candidate.
Moreover, DEMs will have to stand together as a party, whoever the nominee turns out to be, for the party to take back the Oval office. Consequently, we (and the candidates in particular) need to steer away from abusive, petty, and divisive attacks that only serve to weaken the eventually democratic nominee in the general election. Winning (with or without honor and decency) at all costs is a Republican (more specifically, Bush-Rove) doctrine idea DEMS should not embrace.
For a long time, I was indifferent between HRC and Obama. But many of the recent tactics used by the Clinton campaign (e.g., seeking to seat the FL and MI delegates, calling for super delegates to ignore the will of the voters, over inflating the plagiarism claim, name calling “empty suite”), is leaving me with a very queasy feeling about Senator Clinton. I really hope she doesn’t continue down this road, or it will make it very difficult for many (me included) DEMS to back her if she does win the nomination.

Obama is also a junior senator. Do you know what that title means? You Obama people should get your facts straight. And after less than 2 years doing the job the people of ILL. elected him to do he jumped shipped and started running for president. Talk about no experience.

The only people Obama is leading is the cult. Obama stole Yes we can from the United Farm Workers. In 1972, during Cesar Chavez’s 25 day fast in Phoenix, Arizona, he and UFW’s co-founder, Dolores Huerta came up with the slogan.
Obama is a thief in every shape and form.

Part of me wanted Hillary to win the nomination, especially using superdelegates to override voters’ choice as that would set the stage for the biggest landslide loss since Walter Mondale and Dukakis. Hey, McCain is a decent fellow and it would serve Hillary’s passion to make history–as the century’s biggest loser.
But it’s nice to see Obama win. He really has something and I wish old man McCain the best and hope he keeps it civil. No sense losing dignity when fighting a lost cause.
As for superdelegates? They are spineless jelly and see them float back on the turning tide. No issues there.

I wouldn’t be surprised that the Clintons who will say anything and do anything to get elected to pull a stunt like that. Oh by the way 53% of Wisconsin voters said Clinton was running a dirtier campaign only 33% said the same about the Obama campaign. Guess who got rewarded for running a cleaner campaign?
Posted by: JT | February 20, 2008, 1:30 am 1:30 am
From real clear politics:
“The fact is that Obama’s plan today is the most shameless piece of potential plagiarism that I have ever seen. He basically took Clinton’s words and Clinton’s policies and called them his own. If I were a professor I’d give him an F and try to get him kicked out of school for something this terrible…If I were on the Clinton team, I’d be prepping memos….Because I remember Mrs. Clinton saying shared prosperity and I remember the bill that she introduced in August for infrastructure. The fact is these are things Obama has taken as his own without crediting the source of the ideas which was Mrs. Clinton.”
This was written a few weeks ago after Obama stole Hillarys eco. plan. Obama can’t even come up with his own eco. plan. How in the world is he going to run the greatest country on earth? Open your eyes to the empty suit Obama really is.

You Clinton supporters make me want to puke! I have never been so much ashamed in the American system of electing officials, yes I am ashamed to be an American. Michelle Obama was right in what she said. She is glad Americans today demand change in the White House.
This change begins with someone that is NOT a CLINTON or a BUSH as our President.
A poster wanted to know if Obama will swear on a bible? Who cares if he does or does not?! You dont have to worship a certain ‘god’ to be president, hell you can even be Atheist and lead this country.
HRC talks about experience. Where is her’s? First Lady? First Lady is NOT a leading political position and she had to move to NY to get the chance to be a senator. Fact here is neither candidate (McCain included) has true leadership experience. Leadership is an acquired gift, not just watching your spouse in action. Hillary, do us all a favor, quit whining like a babbling brat and quit thinking you’re entitled to be president.

Posted by: Lumpy | February 20, 2008, 5:19 am 5:19 am

Your votes have nothing to do in this primary and the overall election. Shower your empty racial noise, the world is changing from this racial minds and old ways of reasoning. You’re still living in the 17th century. Change is inevitable. Go Obama, go and bring change to America. Long live Obama, our next hero, Hero of change!

America, please wake up! Do you really want to see the Clinton couple in the white house again???? Just think for a minute! Bush father was in office for 4 years, then Bill Clinton took office and lead the country for 8 years, Bush son stole the election in 2000 and he has lead the country for 7 years(8 years when his second term is up). That is a total of 20 years of power in the hands of two families. If Clinton, the wife is elected, it will be 24 years and potentially 28 years for the American presidency being monipolized by two families. Are you sure that America is really a DEMOCRACY?????
Posted by: JohnSaulnier | February 20, 2008, 10:57 am 10:57 am
JohnSaulnier,
Thank you for your wake-up call. Most of us in America don’t think outside the box. The world is changing and most of us are still fighting against change (Obama). Bush and Clinton families are not royal families to rule over us for those years. One day the daughters of Bush and Clinton will rule over our children. Is America a Roman empire to be ruled by royal families?

“YES WE CAN!” versus “NO WE CAN’T!”
I do not take credit for either of those phrases. :)
Posted by: Champ | February 20, 2008, 11:38 am 11:38 am
Those genuinely for change would vote for “None of the Above”. Why?
McCain: A man who has experienced in life what no one should have to – being a prisoner in a hostile environment. Yet he believes that “America can have a presence in any country it chooses. That’s what it means to be a superpower [GMA 2/20/07]“. Has he forgotten what it is to be caught in circumstances not of your own making? Does he recognize for every “honorable and moral” U.S. victory that 2, 3 or more enemies are made of people tired of the U.S.’ apparent disdain for their safety? How many refugees, orphans and widows has the U.S. made of non-combatants? Are these disposessed supposed to forget how they got that way? They’re not all Al Qaeda…not yet, anyway…
Clinton – She clearly has worked for many causes by using her family’s consider talents in the political arena to make those issues heard, and move them to the nation’s view screen. That said, what elective and/or executive office has she held equaling 35 years of political leadership experience? Is it not disingenuous to act as if Bill’s elected office experience is her own? When his state experience is added, do not she and Obama have about the same elected experience? Has she lead any Congressional committees of merit to the campaign? How does she claim to be “better prepared” and keep her integrity? When did she co-opt Bill’s resume as her own?
Obama – For remembering that democracy works best when its citizens are selfless and willing work to make the top not so high so that the bottom won’t fall so low, Obama deserves a civic acknowledgment. However, it is tough to talk to change when behind his campaign are the same movers and shakers who affect the lives of almost every American and – via America’s superpower hubris – most of the world. These shadow-people manipulate and control truth to the detriment of the political process and to democracy American-style. How can Obama stand for a different way of doing business if he hires all the usual suspects?
The trouble with this campaign as with all others remains America’s willingness to be pandered to rather than told the hard truths – good and bad – about moving forward in a world that doesn’t always think Americans are such great people anymore.
The question the next American president will have to face can be summed up as: What will you do, Mr/s. President, when America no longer has the money to buy favor and friends or take care of its own?

The fact that Clinton is seeking to seat the delegates from MICH and Florida when everyone knew that those states moved their dates and were penalized for it and they have ZERO delegates because of the RULES, says to me that she is grasping at straws and doesnt have the moral fiber to lead this nation back to a Constitutional position it once held. She is only self interested, and never spoke against the rape of the Constitution by the Republicans, never called for impeachment when Cheney confessed he outed Valerie Plame. This Clinton is a sleaze, as her husband is.
I thought she might have class, but this nonsense of supporting Julian Bond’s play to seat unelected delegates is too low for a leader of the free world.

We dont have to leave the US if we have complaints.
That love it or leave it nonsense was the hallmark of Spiro T Agnew and R Nixon, both of whom left office in disgrace.
We can disapprove of racism and still want to improve and change the moral tenor of the country.

The bottom line is not that he “borrowed” another’s words but that he holds himself up as “above the old politics.” Obama repeatedly states that he is changing politics but he, in fact, is engaging the in the politics he says he despises. He just can’t have it both ways and be considered honest.
