Is Barack Obama the Messiah?

A website dedicated to the phenomenon raises the question, complete with testimony from converts and photographic evidence of his works.

“My job is to be so persuasive that if there’s anybody left out there who is still not sure whether they will vote, or is still not clear who they will vote for, that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany,” said Obama in New Hampshire , “and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama.”

American voters have already come to the realization that Senator Barack Obama holds the only key to our future. His prophetic and critical thinking abilities are unmatched! We are getting closer to the prosperity, respect and protection we deserve! This is truly a defining moment in world history.

that is absolutely disgusting. In the interest of full disclosure I support Hillary, but that has nothing to do with the fact I find this story and especially the title to be offensive and wrong. To compare any candidate to Jesus Christ is just wrong. He most certainly is not the Messiah and this kind of behavior will only ultimately hurt him. How big of an ego must he have to compare him self to the saviour of mankind.

He’s not the Messiah, but he’s the most impressive candidate for President I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Our country needs him desperately.
Please everyone, get out and vote for this guy. We will all benefit from it enormously!

Friends:Not since the days of Truman, have we faced a more difficult and turbulent time in our history. We are in two wars, one which is justified and the other not, there are fanatical terrorists who are out to destroy our dream, our borders are insecure, the economy is in a shambles, the Chinese and the Arabs are bailing out our corporate giants, the dollar is so worthless that middle class Americans such as me can’t afford to travel abroad, our people are losing their biggest asset which is their home, we have a health care crisis which is on the verge of collapse, the number of uninsured or underinsured Americans are about 50 percent of the population, we are beholden to the oil states and the sheiks, and our environment is falling apart. We have to think carefully about whom we elect as our next president. We should not be carried away by our hearts and use our minds at this crucial juncture. For me, there is only one candidate who can deal with our multitude of problems and that is Hillary. She is a strong and courageous woman who has withstood assaults on personality, character, family, sex, name it whatever. She has a track record for strong work ethic and over the past 8 years in the senate, she has shown that she can work across party lines to negotiate and achieve a consensus. To those who believe that a single person can bring about change that is foolhardy. Our forefathers have created a great system of pride for all of us with the three arms of the government which bring about the checks and balances which protect all of us.Hillary has been at the forefront in the battle for civic rights, children’s and women’s rights, abused children and women, families (“It takes a Village”) and health care. You can blame her for all you want, but she battled to keep her family intact after the Monica scandal.

OBAMA IS A HOAX. He voted present more than 100 times not yes or no and the most liberal among democrats in the senate. He won caucuses who voted for him which is only comprised 10% of the democratic voters in the state of Nebraska.

Jake-
Seriously, a man of your background and journalistic integrity should know better than to publicize this garbage. Obama has never compared HIMSELF to Jesus, this is coming from bloggers and is very unethical the way it is portrayed. I am not supporting him at this time, but I will no longer be reading your blogs.
Please draw a line between interesting notes, and simply promoting the talking points of other campaigns. Absolutely disgusting.

RELIGIOUS FANATACISM DOES NOT BELONG IN THE WHITE HOUSE. WAKE UP PEOPLE “DON’T BECOME SHEEP” THINK FOR YOURSELF. IF OBAMA IS THE MESSIAH THEN WE ARE IN DEEP DEEP SPIRITUAL DOO DOO. I HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF LOOKING TO A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL FOR SALVATION. GO AHEAD PEOPLE:
DRINK THE OBAMA KOOL-AID.
JUST DON’T BE SURPISED WHEN THEY COME AROUND WITH THE PLASTIC BAG TO PUT OVER YOUR HEAD.
I’M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS OBAMA CULT THING. REMEMBER HITLER WAS CHARISMATIC AND FULL OF CHANGE PROMES TOO.
HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT.
THE WAY TO CHANGE WASHINGTON IS TO VOTE FOR A FEMALE. OBAMA IS TOO SLICK AND AT LEAST FOR THIS VOTER I CAN’T SEE THE CONTENT BECAUSE OF ALL THE GREASY SHINE.

Anyone who thinks Obama is the Christ, Don’t know Christ, politics or Obama. To evan say such a thing in jest is a sin to our Lord and offensive to all true Christians. As Christians we will not kill or mame the sinners. Like what would happen if someone compared him to Mohamed. But it is offensive and as Christians we should pray for those who obviously don’t know Christ.

I know that George Bush has been waiting for him.

From the linked website:
“Jody Klein of Centralia, Wash., about two hours-drive south of Seattle, was near tears as she recounted her Obama experience. At age 20, she’ll vote in a presidential election for the first time.
“There’s just this amazing excitement that’s here,” she said. “When he was talking about hope, it actually almost made me cry. Like it really made sense, like, for the first, like, whoa … how important a time this is for us. It was really exciting.”
LOLOLOL. We should count ourselves lucky that the “youth vote” generally craps itself out by the time we get to the general election. Like, whoa…
Does Obama understand how very offensive all this Messiah malarkey is to a good many voters (you know, like, the ones who actually show up to, you know, vote)?

It’s all great that the youth are so hopeful about the world, but we need a President, not a youth pastor. Barack says the same thing over and over. Praise the Lord Barack, because the the true to the party Democrats aren’t going to let you run the United States of America. Sure he sound great and hopeful, but there’s real work to do here. It’s just not time for Barack. He’d make a great V.P. for now. He needs experience. Give him 8 years as V.P. then I’ll consider him.

I read the other day that highly educated people are easier to fool. Maybe that’s true? They see Ivy League schooling, a lawyer, a crisp suit and arrogance and they are falling down to support this guy. Seems to me these educated fools are the worst kind of sheep. We don’t need another self-righteous newbie, we’ve already had GWB for that. The reason people attack Hillary on these blogs and in the media is because she is the real thing, and the status quo really wants a man that they can manipulate. They don’t care that he’s black, or half black or whatever as long as they can pull his strings to promote their agenda. Change is coming people but it has nothing to do with BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA. This country needs someone who has the white house experience and sensitivity to manuever us in the right direction,we’ve got a lot of problems to solve. Obama is just leading all these folks down the garden path and will leave them lost in the woods awaiting resuce.

No one is saying that Barak Hussein Obama is saying he’s the messiah. It’s the attitude of his followers who are acting like he is. At least us Hillary Clinton supporters recognize someone with experience and true commitment over that junior achievement wall street
phony Obama. Stupid? If you say so, we only see in others what find in ourselves.

Posted by: JJ | February 10, 2008, 3:45 pm 3:45 pm

Christian,
Yes, Obama is inspiring to many, many people. All kidding aside, because this is funny stuff. Obama is inspiring, but he’s not experienced enough. He needs more time in government to get this job. The Republican strategy is this… Hillary probably won’t run again (her age). They know that she is the more qualified candidate for the job and know that she can out debate them to get through this. They want Barack to win this, because he is inexperienced. If they have to lose the white house, the chances of Barack making a major mistake in those first 4 years is high, thus get the White House back in 4 years not 16 potential years ( Barack V.P. then Prez). These are 2 superstars for the Dems, they want to minimize the damage. Make sense?

Posted by: cynthia | February 10, 2008, 3:49 pm 3:49 pm

Actually, I see this whole Obama craze among the youth as similar to the Beatles craze where girls were screaming and fainting about how wonderful the Beatles were. It’s the behavior of the older Obama supporters that’s more disturbing. That fact that many of them trail off into bashing Clinton as to their reasons for supporting Obama. Or make empty comments that have simply become catch phrases for the Obama campaign, “He is Change, We need Change, and We don’t want the same old establishment politics.” (This phrase in particular is actually humorous when stated by 18-22 year olds)… If they are the supposed educated group, they are proving that they are simply apt at taking notes and regurgitating what they were told; a guaranteed “A”, especially if you have egotistical professors. However, one would think educated adults would come up with their on independent comments about Obama’s philosophy or accomplishments as their reasons for supporting him. That seldom is the case.

Go ahead and vote for Obama if you want your president to be a target distracting the country from the real issues. There is an article out today that talks about Obama Hussein being assasinated if he were to be elected. Cycles are very real things I agree, and it would be nice to end the repetitive cycle, but at what cost. Be careful not to start a new cycle though, one that repeats, JFK, MLK and RFK. U make the choice. I’ll stick with somebosy who’s been there, who has experience and is a woman. That’s real change boys. Count the votes in Florida and Michigan. Stop this kindergarten crap and do the right thing.

Cynthia is right. Obama has already been set up to be defeated. He can not shake off the inexperience aspect of his candidacy. Having the young crowd as supporters, doesn’t help either. It is already too late. I think that everyone who knows political science and history; know this. I think Obama knows this. He seems much more angry than hopeful lately. The way he made it into the Senate is up for scrutiny as well. Obama’s stance against the war is completely invalid because he was NOT a US SENATOR. For a certain population of society, there is all this other fun/silly stuff you can bash him with. He is already doomed for the general and the Republicans want him in because the battle plan has been accomplished in much of the Primary. All of this messiah/cult aspect is damaging as well. In fact, it would be a lot of work in playing defense if he becomes the VP. The one overpowering force in that regard would be the numbers. Clinton supporters and Obama supporters could definitely outnumber the Republican attack machine, providing the Independents stay with the Dems. That part of the support is weak when the general hits. Nevertheless; there are a lot more Democrats than Republicans and if we are going to make an issue about Democratic delegates; it is going to be a war with the Republicans. Review the Al Gore race.

VPNNathan:
(1) “We are in two wars, one which is justified and the other not…” Actually one war — two battles. Going into Iraq was totally justified. We gave Saddam TWELVE years to meet the conditions of the 1991 ceasefire. He failed to do so. So we ended the ceasefire. Additional members of Al Qaeda (they had a training camp in northern Iraq prior to the invasion) and other foreign terrorists flowed into Iraq through Syria and Iran. We ARE fighting al Qaeda in Iraq. And they are on the run!
(2) “…the economy is in a shambles.” Just a bump in the road! President Bush inherited a recession. His 2001 tax cuts were just beginning to take effect when the attacks of 9/11 occurred. It took us nearly two years to recover from that! In June 2003 the unemployment rate had climbed to 6.3%. But President Bush’s 2003 tax cuts turned the economy around. The unemployment rated steadily dropped to 4.4% by Dec. 2006. Up until Dec. 2007, we had 52 weeks of continues job growth — a record! We had record employment and record home ownership. Then the housing market took a down turn in early 2007. As it continued through the year, the unemployment rate began to creep up. That coupled with the subprime mortgage rates going through the roof have caused the bump in the road. Unemployment reached 5.0% in Dec 2007, but dipped slightly to 4.9% in Jan 2008. All of this during time of war.
Had the Democrats been in the White House during the past 7 years they would have asked for all Americans to sacrifice. They would have raised taxes, and the unemployment rate would have had a much higher peak and would have continued today!
Now then, there IS a real crisis looming. The entitlement programs (Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid) currently make up 60% of our budget. Within 10 years they will make up 70% of our budget. In 2017 Social Security benefit payments will begin to exceed the Social Security tax income. By 2040 only about 74% of the benefits will be paid unless changes are made. AND the Democrats want to increase entitlement spending by at least $100 Billion annually with their socialistic womb-to-tomb universal health care.
(3) “…we have a health care crisis which is on the verge of collapse, the number of uninsured or underinsured Americans are about 50 percent of the population…” 47 million uninsured…includes 12-20 illegal immigrants, and about 5 million wealthy citizens who choose to pay as they go for their health care.
(4) “…we are beholden to the oil states and the sheiks…” And whose fault is that? We have not built a new refinery in 20 years. And the Democrats and environmentalists refuse to allow drilling of new oil deposits which would go a long way towards ending our dependence of foreign oil.
(5) “We have to think carefully about whom we elect as our next president.” Now we finally agree…but for different reasons. The 2008 General Election will come down to whether the American people really want the waving of the white flag on the War on Terrorism, socialistic womb-to-tomb universal health care–with the federal government telling us what we can eat, what we can drink, what cars we can drive, and how many children couples can have; the re-distribution of wealth; and appointment of hundreds of activist judges.

The Hillary Clinton Accountability Project will shortly launch its fundraising drive to raise $500,000 to support the most important citizen’s legal initiative of 2008. The landmark civil fraud suit of Paul vs. Clinton et al which the California Supreme Court ordered to proceed against the Clintons, Grammys Producer Gary Smith and Clinton agent Jim Levin, will be set for trial and a discovery schedule at a special conference to be held in Los Angeles Superior Court on February 21, 2008.
The first law suit in American history to bring a President and a Senator to court for defrauding the Senator’s largest campaign donor and his public company will be set for trial and discovery at the Case Management Conference before Judge Munoz. Discovery and depositions of key witnesses, including the Clinton family, Al Gore, Ed Rendell, Terry McAuliffe, Harold Ickes, Howard Wolfson, Kelly Craighead, Barbara Streisand, Brad Pitt, Larry King, Mike Wallace among an array of political and entertainment leaders, will present an inside look at a culture of corruption that will shock the public.
The history and significance of this lawsuit is featured in the internet phenomenon – documentary Hillary Uncensored and in the court filings posted on the Hillary Clinton Accountability Project web site.
Because the expenses of discovery and trial preparation will be extraordinary as the efforts to expose wrongdoing by the Clinton hierarchy of the Democratic is fought desperately by the Clinton Washington pit bull legal team, they require the continued support of the tens of thousands of concerned citizens around the nation that have supported it since 2001 and all those Americans who are newly introduced to the biggest political scandal since Watergate.
Paul vs. Clinton has become and will be the first civil lawsuit to produce sworn testimony and evidence of the systemic corruption that the Clintons have infused into the Democratic Party and all branches of the federal government. Given the necessary resources and legal talent to use the legal tools now available, the illegalities directed by Hillary Clinton to win and keep her Senate seat will be irrefutable!
Contributions to support this case are being accepted online by the Hillary Clinton Accountability Project and questions or feedback may be directed by email to admin@ejaf.us.

If he was the messiah would he have voted 3 times against the Illinois Bill to protect children born alive after an abortion and why won’t his campaign comment on it?
And he killed the bill once when Committee leader.
Funny how when it got to the federal levels though the even big Pro Choicers like Kennedy and Clinton voted for it for it did not infringe on Roe vs. wade, the Illinios Bill was the exact same bill. He should be called on this one, since the media does not call him on much.

And as one veteran of Chicago black politics said to me wistfully: “He is a smart, talented and handsome person, but I am not sure which of those matters most to the American people.”
That is not what he really meant. He knew perfectly well that it was the camera’s power to make Obama shimmer and glow that makes him so important.
And yet a better person might look terrible and sound worse.
How long can the great democracies survive in the face of television’s ability to make some of us look like gods when we are not?
Those who now laud him will probably be flinging abuse at him within two years of his election, and heaven knows how he will be able to continue to be the good family man he is, or walk round to the Hyde Park Hair salon for a trim and a chat with Zariff.
By becoming President he will instantly cease to be what everyone wants him to be.
But by then, of course, it will be too late.

When Obama first became famous, the perceptive Peggy Noonan (once Ronald Reagan’s speechwriter) issued a warning.
She described America’s last decade as “the long freakout”, during which parties chose presidential candidates because they could win, on appearance rather than reality.
The result was repeated pain. Clinton appalled half the country, George W. Bush enraged the other half.
Obama’s “sudden rise and wild popularity”, she said, “seem more symptom than solution”.

It may be helpful if before making comments about someone’s joke or someone’s non factual response one would do some research on this here great internet rather than babbling mindless response.
Obama is a normal human being like all of us. He did work hard to get where he is and I am sure he did not spemd most of his time on the computer in mindless pursuits.
Go out in to the world and make changes yourself in your commnunity.
A leader may help but to be part of the solution we must stop being part of the problem. The changes will come from us not the elected president, he will do his part,we must do our part. We must demand the changes after becoming educated about the cause we seek to fight for and laways remember the constitution must be defended in this days and Barack Obama was teaching constitutional law, he is the most qualified to protect our freedom.

Stop bashing my hero Obama.
He’s the wisest, kindest and like coolest.
(Vote for me as VP, too, ok?)

At least Mark Halperin is saying what needs to be said: “With the press – as always – ready to side with Obama…”

Obama is NOT the new Messiah. He is the new anti-Christ. There is something terribly disquieting about the man who walks with a strangely slow swager , speaks in abrupt sentences and espouses “hope” without stating exactly what he will do. We need more than “hope”. We need real decisive action with wisdom.

Bonjo,you got that RIGHT,OBAMA is the ANTI-CHRIST!!!

All of these comments lets me know that some you still have the prejudices in you. Aren’t you tied of the old white man way of thinking. Grow up and except that a Black man will run this country.

Just read what Obama said in New Hampshire campaign and find all of this scaring.Did’nt find any talk about policy, just like a minister adressing a crowd of people happy to hear about hope because they are so frustrated. Remind me of Mao adressing crowds that cried and got hysterical.

irma – Actually there are more Republicans then Dems in this country but both are about equal, but when you throw in Conservatives to the Republicans then the Republicans outnumber, and then you got Independents who more lean towards the right!

The messiah? This guy is insane.

Spock, actually the Democratic Party has more members. In 2004, there were approximately 169 million registered voters. About 72 million (42.6%) registered as Democrats; about 55 (32.5%) million as Republicans; and the remainer, 42 million (24.9%), registered as Independent, Green or other smaller parties.

what he is? the cool one. the new and improved one. he’s got a great brand, hope, and he’s selling it well.
what she is? herself. she isn’t jfk, mlk, regan, james dean, susan b. anthony, or any other famous person here now or before. just herself. we always want to say, ohh there now is the next clint eastwood, paul newman, lucille ball, or whoever. but usually real people only come around once. however this election goes, hillary will go down in history as a true pioneer in this race for president. long after all the clinton haters are gone, little girls will study about hillary in their history books and be inspired and some will probably hope to be the next hillary.

character, integrity, determination,
Barack seems to have it all, and along with education and intelligence, he could make a great president.
unfortunately, his background as champion for african americans, and the pressure from the naacp and other african american leaders, may bog him down.

This guy is a “fake”.
Read his books and you will get the real picture of where he stands.

OBAMA CAN NEVER BE COMPARED TO JESUS,WHO DIED FOR OUR SINS,AND SAVIOR OF OUR SOULS, AND GIVES US A LIVING HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE. BUT, HE COULD BE CONSIDERED A REDEEMER IN THAT HIS MESSAGE GIVES AMERICA ANOTHER KIND OF HOPE. A HOPE FOR A BETTER GOV,A NATION WE CAN FEEL PROUD OF AGAIN. HIS DESIRE IS TO SAVE AMERICA FROM THE OLD WASHINGTON ESTABLISMENT THAT HAS RAN THIS COUNTRY FOR SO LONG; AND HAS LONG PROVEN NONEFFECTIVE. NO HE NOT CHRIST OR ANTICHRIST,BUT I DO FEEL HE A GODSEND!
OBAMA 08!

Well one would think so if they listen to the media. Obama can do no wrong.
Really are we so stupid to be lead down the path of great speeches. Obama is a candidate of little substance. We need less talk and more action.
I find it odd that a chaotic caucus where little is checked will determine who the candidate will be. Hillary Clinton should be the next president – she has earned the title

Posted by: plh | February 11, 2008, 11:10 pm 11:10 pm

Obama is no Messiah, he has done nothing to merit the title. He will asure 4 more years of Republican Goverment. Americans like to drink beer with Bush, we get 8 drunken years of goverment. Now we like the way this idiot talks. We are not going to win the White house without using our heads instead of our hearts.

I’m an independent voter and I have not made up my mind yet. However, I do have concerns about how people, Democrat’s in particular, are looking at the candidates.
The whole country knows the negatives about Hillary Clinton. What about Obama’s negatives? I suggest people really take a hard look at his background – http://www.unfilteredopinion.com
I’m not saying not to vote for Obama. I’m just saying read every thing you can about him and then make your decision. Don’t just read his book and go to his web site. Check out the other stuff. Is it true? I don’t know, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
For example:
1) I have no problem with some one going to his church (www.tucc.org). But I do have a problem with a person running for President attending a church that bills itself as “unashamedly black” with a “non-negotiable commitment to Africa”.
Obama supporter or not, you have to admit that if that was a White candidate attending a church that was “unashamedly white” it would be all over the news.
2) His church’s magazine gives a Lifetime Achievement Award to the racist Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam. Obama says he doesn’t agree with the award, but why would you stay at a church that gives the award. By staying, you are basically sanctioning their decision. If he “really” did not like it, trust me the church would not have given the award.
3) What is the extent of Obama’s relationship with Farrakhan. A friend pointed out to me that the Illinois State Senate seat that Obama held covered the Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago. This neighborhood is dominated by Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. NO ONE wins that State Senate seat with out the blessing of Farrakhan.
4) Does he really have Nation of Islam members on his Senate and campaign staff. I would have a problem wih that.
5) How is Obama about change? Doesn’t every politician running for office say that? If Obama is so much about “change”, why is his top campaign staff and advisors the same old Washington insiders from previous Democratic regimes?
All of the candidates have flaws, some more than others. I’m just asking you to read all you can about the candidates before you vote for them. Do not vote for Obama because he inspires you. Vote for Obama because he has the right plan with the right details to get the job done. Inspiration alone, is not going to get a darn thing passed with the 435 members of Congress. That’s trench warfare.
I guess I should identify myself as an African-American since this campaign is shaping up to be about race also.
Why do you think Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan and the others have been so quiet and not seen on TV as much? Some White people hate them so much and they don’t want Obama to get painted with that brush.

I am an Obama supporter, but I don’t see him as a Messiah or anything. He seems pretty grounded to me.

If you were looking to fill an executive position, would you hire the candidate with excellent interviewing skills but no record of achievement?

I just saw Obama flying over the grand canyon…

Who you trying to fool, Obama’s going to be elected into the oval office and that will usher in the downfall and total destruction of the USA..
not all at once but a little at a time.
Wait and see, everything is already determined.

Of coarse, Barrack Obama is the Messiah. He goes to a town hall meeting, says “Change, Hope, Future”, five women faint. Moves 4 towns over, says “Future, Change, Hope”, three more women faint, etc. Like most messiahs, except Jesus, you are not allowed to question their inconsistencies or personal affiliations. You are just supposed to faint when he says “Change, Hope, Future” and praise him for taking the time to care about us little people. Plus, when Mr. Bush speaks about coward appeasers we should immediately think that it is an attack against our messiah even though we should say that that is not what are messiah would do.
