Obama and Edwards Sit Down in North Carolina
ABC News’ David Wright and Sunlen Miller Report: Mother Nature may have called a cease-fire in the snows of Wisconsin, but Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., appears to have put the time to good use.
A helicopter cameraman for ABC’s Raleigh-Durham affiliate WTVD spotted Obama leaving former rival John Edwards’ house on the North Carolina.
Watch the video Sunday evening on "World News." Check your local listings for air time.
Obama is actively courting John Edwards’s endorsement, as Edwards still remains undecided in throwing his support behind Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., or Obama.
Clinton met with Edwards on Feb. 7.
Obama speaks with Edwards over the phone regularly. On Wednesday at a campaign event in Racine, Wis., Obama said, "He is going to be a major voice in the Democratic party for years to come, and I want him involved and partnering with me in moving this country forward."
The two former opponents’ meeting had been rescheduled from Monday. Obama said at a coffee shop in Silver Spring, Md., that same day, "It will be rescheduled. We’re gonna make it happen."
The weather helped the meeting take place this time, as Obama’s event in Appleton, Wis., was cancelled because of snowy conditions. Obama, who had spent the night at home in nearby Chicago, took advantage of the unexpectant gap in his schedule and flew down to Raleigh early afternoon. Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth, was present for the meeting.
Apparently, Obama and Edwards hugged at the conclusion of the meeting.

Mr. Obama still courting Mr. Edward. I think John Edwards will still get behind Hillary. He seems like a better match right now.

I guess Obama is trying to con Edwards also. I just hope and pray that Edwards does the right thing and endorses Hillary and doesn’t jump on the Obama trainwreck.
If Edwards is ever to have another chance, he better not waste it on Obama. True Democrats will not vote for Obama in November if he is nominated.

This is all about which candidate the billionaire personal injury lawyers are going to front. Edwards was their man. Now they need to know which candidate is most likely appoint judges willing to reinvigorate the junk science driven mass tort industry. They also need to know which candidate will fire all the US Attorneys who have been indicting these ambulance chasing fat cats for bribing judges and jurors, manipulating markets (those contingent fee lawyers in securities litigation). Federal and State grand juries are investigating at last the vast corruption underpinning the empires of the Tort bosses and the trial bar is running scared. Expect them to pour more money than ever into this campaign. If they don’t all their ill-gotten weath may go back to those from whom they stole it.

I see what John’s dilemma is. I mean, on the one hand you have a status quo candidate who accepts lobbyists’ money and defends them as “representing real people”, and on the other hand he’s got a man who does not accept lobbyist money and instead finances his campaign (in record fasion, no less) from nearly 700,000 small donors. Oh, and the guy who SEIU just endorsed. Sounds like a tough call to me….

It could save time in November… If Obama picks Edwards for V.P. and McCain picks Huckabee, I wouldn’t vote for Edwards or Huckabee in ANY position on the ballot, even if they were running for garbage collection supervisor.

I hope Edwards does not endorse any candidate. He should stay above the fray and let the people decide. Obama is not a winner for the Democrats in the general election. The primary and causcus numbers for Obama swell the looks of his popular appeal…his numbers have been inflated by block voting from blacks and young people. These votes drive up his numbers and it may look as if he has widespread popular appeal. Hoever, in a general election, his apparent poularity will be obliterated by huge numbers of people looking for an experienced, well qualified candidate…where Hillary fits the bill.

If this smear turns out to have any truth in it, Mr. OBama will be slimier ( is that a word ) than Mrs. Clinton could ever hope to be. If this is just a vicious lie and a rumor, what are you afraid of? Let the truth prevail.

People are not racists who want the truth to be debated or exposed about Obama. He has been given a free ride by everyone because everyone is afraid of being called racist.
I don’t vote back on color, size or looks, I vote on experience and quite frankly I just don’t see that Obama has what it takes. He will lose in the General Election because if he is nominated other Democrats like myself will vote for the most qualified candidate, irregardless of race or party.

He takes from special interest groups ( Vote Hope, Move On) and corporations Exelon, UBS. Had fundraising from Public Citizen group by Nader idenify lobbyist-bundlers.not registered “straw donors”

Two-Cats, you have made a good point, but it will depend (at least in part) on who the candidates (in both parties) choose as their running mates. Some combinations will work, while others will fail. Still, I have also wondered how far charisma can carry Obama. But keep in mind that a charismatic leader can convince his followers to commit suicide. No, of course, I don’t think Obama will do this, but the power of charisma makes it the trump card, over race and gender, and all three cards have been played several times already.

True Democrats will not vote for Obama in November if he is nominated.
What a self-serving distortion. True democrats will put personality to the side and vote for the candidate whom they feel (or think) will do the best job for the country. The policies and positions of Obama and Clinton are so similar that it takes a magnifying glass to find the departure points, so what you are really saying is that if we don’t vote for your candidate, we are not Democrats.
Let me say that it is this sort of antagnostic, demeaning, mean-spirited statements that make me lean ever so much closer to voting for Obama simply because I dislike the politics of hate and despair.

I sure hope Edwards endorses Hillary. they are both committed to changing the lives of the middle and lower class. They are both focused on giving voices to the voiceless. Hold Out John:
I have been an Edwards supporter for many years. I grew up in the same NC county as John and we went to rival high schools at the same time. Knowing his roots, hometown and values I was not a happy camper when he suspended his campaign.
In the WA caucas I supported Obama and am a delegate. I hope John supports Obama come the DNC in Denver, however, I am in no rush for him to back either candidate at this time. His (Edwards) message still needs to be heard and added to the platform for Nov ’08.
Hillary Clinton. Not now, she has too many connections to what is wrong with politics today. I liked her in the past but she has sold out in many respects, she has yet to regain my trust. I really don’t want to support a “republican light” candiddate from the Democratic party.
My wife disagrees, she is a delegate for Hillary.

You just don’t get it…You and others are quick to call it a race issue because people don’t like Obama…This is what is turning people off. I will not vote for someone just because they are black, a women, etc. I vote for the best qualified candidate. Obama is the least qualified of any candidate that is running. The only thing he has going for him is a good speaker. Our country is in such a bad shape and we don’t need a rookie messing things up any worst than they are. This is no time for experimenting with a rookie. No I don’t like McCain but if I have to pick between he or Obama, I will vote McCain and hope that Hillary or someone else runs in 4 years.

Posted by: My_Perogative | February 17, 2008, 5:52 pm 5:52 pm
I never explicitedly said it was a race issue, but the policy both democratic candidates promote are so close as to be clones; you cannot convince me that the only reason you would vote against Obama is because you don’t think he has enough experience to be president. That doesn’t even make sense. He has the Democratic agenda and sufficient experience (compare him to Lincoln and perhaps even to Bill Clinton). Yet rather than having someone carrying the Democratic platform into the WH and work to achieve the Democratic ideal–JUST because he doesn’t have sufficient experience by your definition–you would vote for more of the same as the last eight years is beyond understanding.
So, yeah, I think there does have to be more at work that ‘experience’ that would cause you to vote for a man who will keep us in Iraq for 100 years and probably take us to war with Iran and do nothing to correct the decline of the economy.
How on earth could a little less experience than Clinton equate to voting for war and economic disaster?
Yeah, there is something there more than lack of experience, even if you won’t admit it.

EDWARDS WILL NOT ENDORSE CLINTON
John Edwards will NEVER endorse Hillary Clinton.
She is pretty much everything he stands against. She takes so much money from Washington lobbyists, she is so divisive and will say and do anything to get elected. She doesn’t care about the middle-class or the poor. She only pretends to. Enough of the old politics and smear campaigns. Clintons are the status quo and will do anything to get their way back to the White House. Unfortunately it won’t work this time.
If John Edwards endorses, he will endorse Barack Obama. There is no doubt about it. Elizabeth Edwards and John Edwards are both rooting for Obama because he is what America needs to regain its standing in this world.
God bless America.

Irene as long as someone says what you want then its okay right? Yeah thats obamma politics. obamma smokes in the closet. I do not think this is inspirational to our children. He admits to drugs. His church is based on separating the blacks from everyone else. He screams old time politics and then turns and gets the scum T.Kennedy to help him. He screams when he is critized that he is being treated in racist manner, then turns around and insults the woman of this country by calling them dumb. He takes money from lobbist. He has bribed more superdelgates than anyone. He critizes Bill Clinton for being on the campaign trail and cuts him down, then he peddles his wife off on Larry King. He says Clintons are sleezy, yet he took money from reisko and even had him buy him a home.Is this his plan for the rest of us who have lost our homes? He has no plans to get jobs in this country. His health care plan is only a bandaid to help a few. He thinks the way to help farming in this country is to have the farmers invent an alternative enegy plan. They are far too busy working hard not jumping all over the country looking at rich peoples homes. He critizes Hillary on the war, yet Colin Powell thought the information he was given was true as did the majority of americans. Who could forget all those flags flying days leading to the iraq war. obamma did not vote for the war because he has no respect for the american flag he has family ties to muslems so he did not want to offend them. He does not like Latinos because he wants to send as many of them back as he can so he can start bringing over more africans. As far as this Larry Sinclair thing , I hope no one lets Obamma kiss them because it just came out that aids can be spread but saliva…….. I supported John Edwards and I still do. More basically, though, I just want a Democrat to dig us out of the Bush-mess we are in, so I will vote for the party’s candidate. If either Clinton or Obama can secure him as running mate I believe it will clinch their victory. I do hope that if the caucuses and primaries continue to go Obama’s way, that Hillary will back out with as much grace as she can muster. It is just too important to get the White House back into Democratic control. Say what you like about Edwards (and many of you have already so don’t bother repeating the garbage)at least Edwards was conscientious enough to withdraw rather than risk being a kingmaker or a spoiler. Just think where the US could be right now if Nader had had the same courtesy and patriotism.

Nader thought he would rise from ashes like a pheonix but he only left us with the ashes. If Obama is ever elected in spite of the onslaught from McCain who will portray him as a skinny black man who can not protect us from “terrorism”. Obama will make a terrible president in the mold of Jimmy Carter. Obama will serve one term and the Republicans will crow that the Democrats are failures and the GOP will return to the White House to dig a deeper hole than we are already in. At least Hillary will hit the ground running with all her connections. Yes it would be a dual presidency with Hillary and Bill and it will be good times again but that may not happen.

I could care less about this stuff. We all know Obama is an empty suit. What obama lovers dont get is the fact the entire mainsteam of the democratic party -the Clinton voters, are going to vote for John Mc Cain.
This has been the dirtiest campaign I have ever witness. To hell with your empty suit rhetoric and blind media backing. Screw your racist african american vote.

I am not voting for Obama mainly because I think he is a racist and I wouldn’t vote for a white racist, a hispanic racist and I will not vote for a black racist. I want a president who will be a fair and just leader for all the people. I base this upon the Trinity’s own web page, their support of Louis Farakahn (sp?), one of the biggest racist I’ve ever heard of, reading Mr. Obama’s books.
Racism doesn’t belong here anymore-period.

I know that Obama’s supporters don’t like to be called a “cult” but people should look at the similarities between his organization and cult tendancies. Any organization that does not allow you to question the leader is a cult. Parents really need to keep an eye on their children and watch for behavioral changes. When he looses I’m afraid we’ll have a whole set of new problems in the headlines.

Something in my spidey senses have been tingling about Edwards endorsing Obama all along but announcing it at its most strategic advantage. When the eve of Super Tuesday passed, I regrouped. When the eve of the Potomac Primaries came and went, I began to wonder, even doubt the tingle. Now it’s back. Is Wisconsin so close a race they’ll play the endorsement card now?

Mr. barrack HUSSEIN Obama,
Please wake up and smell the coffee! You simply DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE to run this GREAT NATION. YOu are a YOUNG KID in politic. Give it another 8 years and get into this race again. For now, you are A FRESHMAN senator. Move out and give others a chance!!!!

Obama and Edwards were comparing the size of their houses and how they can pull the wool over the eyes of the poor. Obama gave him decorating tips on how to make a 26,000 square foot home look like a studio apartment.

The fact that Obama goes to North Carolina in an incredible stormy whether, shows one thing:
He must be in a real trouble!
He knows that the demographic of the upcoming primaries don’t favor him.
But Edwards won’t endorse him, because all the people with $50,000 income or less support Hillary.
Not that she likes Hillary, but because he will lose any credibility. Unless Obama offers him the VP position.
I hope that she stops his momentum, not because I support her, but because all these cult thing is scary!!

The best way to endorse either Clinton or Obama for Edwards is to stay NEUTRAL until the very last minute when it is clear which candidate will most likely win the nomination. Endorsing Obama now will give Hillary (and, yes, AND Big Bill) another occasion to cry to the feminists, just like Hillary did in New Hampshire. Endorsing Hillary now, well, the race issue will be revisited, not necessarily by the Obama’s team, but by his supporters.

Under President Clinton, the economy has added an average of 245,000248,000 jobs per month, the highest of any President on record.

No rest for the weary. Benedict Obama never stops for a rest. A con mans work is never finished. Soon, he will half the country eating out of his dirty, conniving hands. Running for the country with no experience. Not even running his own household. How can he make decisions that impact the world when he has never made a decision on his own? Words of hope when he knows there is no chance of passing any of his dreams. Words mean nothing if you can not succeed in action. A plan made is not a plan that will succeed. Yes, he may well take the white house but that does not mean he will be able to wipe is own hiney. Change that we can believe in. Sucker words if I have ever heard sucker words. The US has proved that there is one born every second. Gullible weak people who do not have the ability to think clearly with intellect and concise thought. Benedict Obama is only a pipe dream that needs to go up in smoke. Either hillary or mccain will be a better president. I do not like either but I like both much more than benedict obama.

I think that Edwards was viewed as the “weaker” of the sexes. On the one hand you have Hillary – a strong white women and the other you have Oprah – a strong black women. Edwards just didn’t match up in the debates. I think it would be nice to still have a man in the race.

Dont attack Obama out of your fanatical loyalty to the Clinton camps. The Clintons had their time, it is not like they never were there. All we are asking is for Hillary and her campaign to stop being nasty and dirty. She and her husband are turning out to be worse than the Republicans. This is not good for our politics or for the country.

Wrong, it was and is not just the young and Blacks that are voting for Obama. Even though, if you are running as a Democrat you will need both of these groups. In the last states Obama beat Clinton in all demeographic groups.
Experience is a weak argument if your choices are not sound and it is obvious (if you care to research)that Hilary’s most experience is in out right calculating heard like self-serving fashion. She says and does whatever serve her interest at the time. That is not the sign of a good leader we can not serve this county from life less statistics.
Edwards choice on who he’s backing will go a long way in telling whether he was serious on his platform against the status quo.

Messeurs Obama and Edwards teaming up makes sense. McCaine would not be able to defeat this coalition. Mrs. Clinton with anyone losses to McCaine. Why? Her negatives are just too high: 49% of the electorate will not vote for her under any circumstances. That’s high!

Obama’s words lack the knowledge, the experience, a defined plan on how he will attain these trumped up promises and false hopes. Speeches aren’t everything. Good speeches are no match for experience and hard work to make things happen. Obama is lacking in this regard. We need a president who can do more than plagerize pretty speeches. We need one who can do the job of commander and chief. Head of a nation that know what they are doing.
Hillary is better prepared to take this leadership, with her detail plans and roadmaps. She is the solutions. GO HILLARY/EDWARDS. Yeah, North Carolina.
Posted by: tigerjcs | February 17, 2008, 8:11 pm 8:11 pm
Why Hillary is more electible?
Everything about Hillary is out of the closet. There isn’t anything left to say about her. She withstood all those attacks. Despite all those attacks she still has a 49% favorite opinion.
By contrast, Obama so far is given a free ride in the corporate media (such as ABC), in order to defeat Hillary in the primaries.
Why is media so favorable toward Obama and so critical to Hillary?
Because they know Hillary is a more formidable force. She is not like John Kerry to allow the Republicans to swift boat her.
Once the primaries are over, and if Obama is elected as the nominee, they start to attack him too.
Imagine what Obama is going to say when his resume is compared to Mccain’s foreign policy experience, defense experience and knowledge, and the question of the security. and when they start to scare people about terrorism again.

One thing I don’t understand is that when we talk about the Bill Clinton’s administration’s achievement they don’t give any credit to Hillary, they say she was only a first lady.
But, on the other hand when they are criticizing Hillary they say, her administration is the continuation of the Bill Clinton’s and dismiss that as status quo!!

It was the Republicans year to lose…
The Clintons will do ANYTHING, including steal the nomination, to hold onto their reign of the DNC……even if that means tearing it to shreds in the meantime.
This is going to get even uglier, when Obama keeps winning…….. And I am enjoying every minute of it…watching the Clinton’s finally getting theirs…

to be fair: ABC is not the worst MSNBC, now there is a pro Obama network, CNN is starting to warm up to Clinton because she is no longer the frontrunner, and Fox bounces back and forth on any given day.
CBS stays pretty neutral also. But what I am seeing is this election seems to be some sort of game to our media. Report the news, and let the voters decide. No one in the media is doing that anymore. So sad in this electronic age, that we are all told how to vote and if we don’t agree with the media we are censored.

Obama a few days ago published his economic package, now, when most of the primaries are over.!!!
He wouldn’t have done it, if it wasn’t for the Hillary’s criticism for lack of plan on his campaign.
Nonetheless, His plan came out nothing but a plagirism of the Hillary’s plan, besides some additions like: “global poverty plan” which costs 120 billions annually!!!
Don’t laugh, because in one of his speeches he said he would solve all the world problems. with the plans like this and meeting with Ahmadinjejad!
Well done!!

It’s clear that most or you posting on this topic have made up your minds without any independent, or in depth, research into ANY of the candidates. What do you do, scan blogs looking for a fight?
A couple points:
1. Anyone posting in ALL CAPS is an IDIOT!
2. None of the candidates is, or has ever been, a muslim.
3. All of the candidates love America, and will be an improvement over the current administration.
4. All of the candidates are, on the whole, smarter and more self-sacrificing than any of us posting to this blog (myself included).

Experience is highly overrated.
James Buchanan, known at the time as “Mr. Government” because he had held most every position elected and appointed, is widely regarded as the worst president in US history, standing idly by while the country descended into civil war.
Conversely, Abraham Lincoln is widely regarded as one of if not the best presidents. His experience before becoming president–8 years in the Illinois state legislature and 2 years in the US House of Representatives–is less than Obama’s. Moreover, Obama has 12 years of service as an elected official to Hillary Clinton’s 8.
Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld had more than enough experience. Look at the mess they got us into. Judgement is what they lacked, not experience.
A more important quality is judgement. JFK failed with the Bay of Pigs because he listened to those with experience. He succeeded in the Cuban Missile Crisis because he relied on his own judgement.
Hilary Clinton voted to authorize what has become the biggest strategic blunder of the last 30 years in US history. Clinton didn’t even read the intelligence estimate given to senators before the vote; she let her aides read it for her.
Her judgement was sorely lacking in the 90s when she spearheaded her husband’s healthcare initiative. She came up with an overly complicated plan behind closed doors and turned a Democratic-controlled Congress against it because she failed to confer with them or address their concerns.
The way she’s run her campaign also shows poor judgement. She financed it the way campaigns used to be financed, relying on big donors maximizing and bundling contributions; she didn’t bother to set up good ground organizations in smaller states; and she hired people whose best qualities were loyalty and discipline–not competence. Does that last one sound at all familiar?
Obama learned from what Dean did 4 years ago–all you need are small contributions from lots of people using the Internet as the tool. But Dean never put together the ground organization needed to compete. Obama did. That’s why he’s ahead in the delegate count now.
His and Hillary Clinton’s policy initiatives are virtually identical. For me, the bottom line is that he showed better judgement on the biggest test–the Iraq war–and he’s run a much more competent campaign.
I’ll still vote for Hillary Clinton if she’s the nominee. McCain is the best Republican but he’s only marginally more behind the times than the rest of the Republican Party. I just feel that Obama has exhibited better judgement, shown better managerial skills, and is better equipped to excel in the bully pulpit aspect of the presidency than either of the 2 remaining candidates.
As for the people harping on Obama’s middle name and other such inane innuendos, you sound a lot an awful lot like those whack jobs that believe the Clintons had Vince Foster killed. Take a couple of steps back from the precipice for God’s sake.

They had no money and no plans after Super Tuesday. They had to jump start their campaign from scratch. Can we really afford to have some one like this to take over the White House?

It makes no difference who Edwards endorses! If the Florida/Michigan delegates are not counted and seated…neither state will be there for the democrats in November. In 2000, ALL democrat voices were not heard! Now in 2008, NONE will be heard as part of this nominating process. The GOP played Florida and they get away with it by setting the primary prior to February 5th. Obama says Floridians have broken the rules and should not count. Maybe they won’t matter in November either!!! Florida is a must win for democrats to reclaim the white house. This should be very interesting to watch!!!

brian not all of obammas money came from small contributers; some came from reisko, some from exelon, some from the kennedys etc. The biggest thing about obamma is that he is like a new product and the media has been kind to him. He is put on a silver platter. This is not good for a nation, that has a terrible problem with drugs. Hillary just has so many plans to help from finding a solution to the mental health problem in this country, to enviroment, to helping the poor and underserved. Mean time helping to bring back the middleclass. Obamma has the strump speeches, but she has the answers. He just copies a week or two later. Even some of his speeches are copies from prior days. So, really where is the change?????????

What are you talking about JJ?
You say “Hillary’s vote for the Iraq resolution was was merely a coercive measure for Iraqis to agree with the inspections.”
The title of the bill (S.J. Res. 45) Clinton voted for was “A Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq.”
And how about her words on the floor explaining her vote:
“This is a very difficult vote. This is probably the hardest decision I have ever had to make — any vote that may lead to war should be hard — but I cast it with conviction.
And perhaps my decision is influenced by my eight years of experience on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue in the White House watching my husband deal with serious challenges to our nation. I want this President, or any future President, to be in the strongest possible position to lead our country in the United Nations or in war.”
Her eight years (now thirty-something by her latest count) sure did inform that decision! I reiterate: her judgment was poor and in support of the biggest strategic blunder made by the US in the last quarter century.

Its amazing to see once again racism at the forefront of american politics. We have a intelligent black man running for president and because he speaks well either he is white washed, not black enough, or too black because his speeches have such charisa and inspiration. Of course Hillary clinton would assume just because his speeches are good thats all he has going for him She is very patronizing in this aspect. I am offended when she makes statements about his speeches but do not give him credit regarding his qualifications as a senator.

SAQ:
I think both judgement and experiece are important.
Obama in his book says he made a bad judgement when he used drugs when he was in school.
When you use drugs they change your brain function for ever;
Bush also used drugs and alcohol in the past, we’ll know he made terrible judgements.

The 35 years of experience comes from working for the government since she graduated law school. She also worked on several boards and issues while her husband was president and acted as an ambassador. To be fair, everyone should study the websites and histories of all persons running for the Democratic nominee-how else do you make an informed decision?
Hillary began working for children’s rights before even graduating law school. She has worked long and hard to be an advocate for those whose voices cannot be heard, say what you like about her that is the truth.

The Vietnam war cost the lifes of over fifty thousand Americans and millions of Vietnamese. John McCain asserts that we should have stayed longer. He also supported a strategic blunder even greater than the intervention in Vietname, the Iraq war. He wants the US there for a hundred years. He is bin Ladens dream candidate, the poster child for recruiting more suicide bombers. Given that for a track record, who in hell would want him as president? His incompetence is well established.

To daddywontsellthefarm:
Half of Obama’s donors contribute $250.00 are left. He has approximately 4x as many donors as Clinton. Check Google: you’ll find she depends a lot more on old-school fundraising–fewer people but donating the maximum $2,300.00. She’s been running her campaign as if it was still the nineties–and that’s just one example of it.

brian Yes okay what you say is right however ( theres always however) He has taken some corperate monies. I have always learned that even if you only did it once you still are guilty. I just think that often Obamma degrades Clinton only to find he has done the same thing. What about the very large sum obamma has given the superdelegates as gifts I see those as bribes. I know its legal but I would have had more fondness for the man if he took over 600,000 dollars and taken some of the children that are living in the streets in this country. You could buy a lot of rent for these poor children.
Posted by: daddywontsellthefarm | February 17, 2008, 10:41 pm 10:41 pm
daddywontsellthefarm,
Both candidates have given money to the superdelegates, unfortunately (Hillary just a little more). And for that matter, they have both raised almost identical amounts–over 200 million together–that could have helped a lot of people.
It comes down to the same sort of argument you can make for Al Gore jetting around talking up global warming. He may use a lot more carbon dioxide than I do, but then I haven’t galvanized nearly as many people to do something about global warming as I have. It’s a helluva carbon offset.

Voting for McCain is having GW for another 4 years. McCain believes in war and will keep this country in war. Is this the type of country we want to leave for our children, a country that believes in wars, and blowing up innocent children and babies. I am greatful McCain served this country, but I believe he is still shellshocked from his POW days. This guy is scary and not trust worthy. What about his drug addicted wife and how she tried to destroy this young man’s life working for her because he found out she was forging employees names for prescription drugs, and contacted the DEA. She should have went to jail, but instead she went into treatment. This is scary. McCain shellshocked and she was on prescription drugs, gee folks study your history.

And to think I once considered voting for this guy. The guy who served in elected office only four years (versus 11 for Obama.)
The guy with the lowest progressive voting record ranking of the major candidates. And I considered voting for him because he changed his rhetoric, and became a born-again populist.
As a one term senator, he co-sponsored Lieberman’s Iraq War Resolution (S.J.Res.46) with 16 of the most hawkish Senators, and then voted for the version that passed.
Shame on me. He gets my support by refashioning himself into a born again populist. Then, after winning NO states, I hear he is considering endorsing Hillary Clinton?
That he hasn’t already endorsed Barack Obama says it all.
He will go down in history as a phony opportunist. A self-serving, lightweight jerk.

It is sad to realize that facts are rare in these comments.
First, according to polls McCain is the one to win a general election over Clinton. Obama is the candidate predicted to win against McCain.
Second, Obama is the one who opposed a war that is too costly in many respects and generations to come will have to pay for. Obama was, even back then, not too inexperienced to predict the inevitable – yet, the “experienced” Clinton was lulled into agreeing to what she now opposes.
Third, in the past few decades the fate of the US has been influenced by the same few families (e.g., Bush, Clinton). Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone in office who has a few less political obligations? Superdelegates (for the most part people who have power) are afraid of change, and would prefer the same old style to continue, again ignoring the popular vote.

It is true we have been waiting a long
time to see Fruition in our government,
but words aren’t going to get us there.
We are all adults here and all know that
as much as we want to believe every speech that gets put out there the reality is we all know it takes a lot
more. Of course we all want a lot of things but that takes real work and a
lot of experience, I feel Hillary Clinton is just the person that can do
that. Look at Obamas record then look
at Hillary’s and the truth will look you right in the face. For instance when
you take chemistry there is a lot to
learn and you don’t learn it overnight,
I would take the person that had the
experience making my medication any
day over the guy that says I’m going
to make great strides in the history
of medicine. Look at the facts, Look
at reality, and Look at the truth, only
a fool wood believe that all these great
words are going to change everything tomorrow. Do I like Obama yes, I have
read his book and believe some day he
will do great things for this country.
Let the children learn and the adults
lead. The best thing for this country
right now would be for the two of them
to join forces having experience (Hillary) first and the child (Obama) learning Second and then in four years
then Obama could step into the president’s shoes. If they really want
to do something great together they should show this country how to work
it out between each other and then we
truly could have something that could
make this country great. Go Hillary
and Obama you will have your chance.
Hillary take Obama as Vice President
and Together skys the limit.

It looks like Obama has definitely peaked. In the RCP average, he is now only 3 points ahead of McCain in a hypothetical match-up in the fall. In the Rasmussen daily tracking poll, his lead over McCain, which once stood at 6 points, is now down to 2 points only.
What has happened over the past days to change Obama’s momentum ? Basically, for the first time in this election cycle, we started to see negative opinions on Obama, mostly in the printed media, though not yet on the cable news network (Obama’s biggest supporters so far).
Obama will probably still win the Democratic nomination, but one wonders if his campaign, which is 100 % media driven, can survive in the fall without the free ride he was getting from the press until recently.

John Edwards should not endorse either candidate for president. As Clinton has said many times, “Talk is Cheap”. In some ways I agree, so an endorsment would do nothing for either candidate. The only thing an endorsment would do is backfire in Edwards face. He is in a position now where not speaking out can be more powerful. Let what unfolds happen, keep your morals, and don’t be bought out to the highest bidder. You have left the race with dignity and with a renewed call to purpose. Follow your heart and let the others crucify themselves.

But actual numbers disagree. Every poll I have seen released this month shows in a Hillary vs mccain matchup, we lose… while in an Obama vs mccain matchup, the republicans lose.
This is the reason I’m leaning toward Obama, though I am still undecided. One thing Hillary could do to earn my vote would be to release her tax info. We just sat through 7 years of the most secretive administration ever, that claims exec. priviledge over even the most minor things. In real world (not movie), people always have second look on women, but for Hillary Clinton I see she always says what she can do and do what she says. Remember, she was the one who first start Universal Health Care movement back in 1992-1993 although it failed because of GOP controlling Congress. I felt very silly when I heard about that at that time. And can only realized the need of Universal Health Care coverage when I was laid off and stayed home without any income and health care coverage for almost 2.5 years(from 2003). If she is elected for US president in November 2008, with current DEM Congress, I think Universal Health Care definitely will become Laws.

Its not hard for me to vote for Obama you know why and everybody who is on this message board can do this. close your eyes and think of yourself hanging on to a beam with water up to your neck and some body come by on a boat and say just hang on, rescue will be here in 5 Days, oh my god, 5 days it took the president to send millitary men to new Orleans, 5 days, when I look at McCain that is what I see, 5 days for Rescue now keep that in mind.

when Obama supporters are asked by the media, what kind of change, what kind of hope, they just get blank stares!

What I don’t understand that how come somebody who can not manage their marriage properly, we can trust they can manage the country? Infidelity after Infidelity? If you are trustworthy for your own family, you can be trusted for the country. This another reason among many other reason,s why democrats should not vote for Hill-lair-y

If Edwards won’t endorse Obama, maybe he’ll at least let Obama reuse some of his old speeches.

All u Obama haters finally the truth is out experience does not matter …Clintons are liars & they aren’t gonna do nothing if elected…..Obama is the right president right now ..no matter what u haters suggest it is a done deal .Mcain cannot beat Obama Period No republicans again in the white hse unless The Clinton win the nomination .

Obama said today that if he gets Edwards supporters then he would not really need Edwards to endorse him.
What a guy!! He really does have his head in the clouds.
If he wins the nom. It will be a shame.
I will have to vote for McCain. Heck I will even join the ground support to help McCain out.

Obama needs to stop being a gentleman in this race. Hillary is no lady. She is going to get a lot nastier. No one No one is getting between her and that whitehouse. Hold the kleenex Bill. After Obama wins Texas. It will be all over.

Obama is all hype. I don’t need a speech to inspire me. To think, anyone that needed to be inspired was just sitting around and waiting for this guy to come and rescue us all. That is BS!
I don’t agree with him on his plan for “change” I don’t like his views on foreign policies.
I can vote for a Republician and live with that choice.

Obama tried to tell us he was original, new and fresh. New ideas, a new way to run Washington.
Turns out he’s full of old stale ideas that he copied.
Obama has never had an original idea If he wants change so bad he should start with the dim bulb in his head.

Obama is the best candidate, Hillary is done for. Hillary has to many skeletons in her closet. She won’t give out her taxes, so she is hiding something. It’s time for a change. Hillary uses other people’s words just as all the other candidates. It just showed on the national news tonight how they all use one anothers words. I guess if we want our kids in a draft, vote McCain.

John Edwards Is as dumd as a box of rock’s. just goes to show why he wouldnt be nominated President. he actually would endorce a cantidate who has the endorcement of his old running partner, John Kerry. I would be asking John why he didn’t endorce me when I was still In the running. John Edwards must see something In It for himself.

As a democrat from NC, John Edwards better get on the train or who needs him. First thing he did as our Senator was put money into Iowa to pump his first run for the PRECEDENT. Then he bad mouths the Senate, drops out and hands the seat over to LIDDY DOLE. If he had an ounce of truth to his campaign then Obama is his obvious choice. Can’t wait to hear this one, folks…if the WAMPUM don’t carry the day, perhaps the truth in his soul will hold sway…

Hopefully Edwards will endorse Obama after Wisconsin/Hawaii. I can see that playing out particularly well for his campaign.

I agree with others…it is beyond sad that we as Americans can’t discuss politics without hateful words and untruths. I realize this is what George Bush has brought us to but can we please grow-up and atleast act like civilize people and stick to the facts.

How sneaky can he get! He will deny and say it was a chance meeting. If Hillary had tried it.. she would have been chewed up and spit out!

Deanna G… about her authorizing the biggest blunder. hmm.. President Bush states “weapons of mass destruction” and the nation is in uproar..what did everyone else vote for.. the same thing. Obama states he would have done differently.. yeah right! Put your self on that day at that time and oh yeah you in the shoes of the NY State Senator who just saw what happen to her State and you tell me what was the right choice!!!

Since the working class are Hillary supporters – then Edwards, if he is true to his “commitment” to working class people should give his endorsement and delegates to Hillary.

Sure…Obama people needs CHANGE…”just words.” We need pragmatic CHANGE, not obama’s brainwashing CHANGE.

Those in the media need to read “The True Believer” to understand the danger in Obama’s ability to whip a crowd into a frenzy. Conditions are ripe for mob mentality and Obama is taking advantage of them. If Obama read this book- he has his game plan down to “inspire” just as Hitler who was called a powerful speaker, full of charisma. The desperate follow blindly. The “creepy behavior” of the Obama followers has been noted.

I’m insulted that so many people would share such negative and hateful words about all of the presidential candidates. I have just decided not to read anymore comments on political websites for the rest of the season; just the articles and op-eds for me. It’s absolutely depressing to read through these comments. Just when I think the country can do something historic and vote beyond race and gender — I’m reminded of how ignorant and narrow-minded some of us can be. It’s also insulting that people believe thousands of Obama supporters are being duped by a cult-like mentatlity. Clearly this overeducated group of voters (on the average) actually has read through his policy statements and voting records. They’re not sheep.

True Democrats: don’t you mean True Dixiecrats? You’re right: True dixiecrats will not vote for Obama! True Dixiecrats will also attempt to keep me from voting: just like they did in 1968 and 2000.

Hillary has been preparing for this most of her life, she has the wear with all, the knowledge, experience and in her heart wants to make a difference in this world and has. I believe she has the what it takes to be a leader. Obama never thought he would even get this far and is now so wrapped up in this he will say anthing to win. Just read up on these people before you decide. Don’t decide just because someone talks a big talk.

For everyone that holds onto their opinions riligously I ask this: why hold onto your opinions if you do not have an open mind to “test” your opinions to make sure they are right????
I first started paying attention to Barack Obama back when he was first running for Senate. What strikes me and my friends unusual about him is that he stands for a higher principle. Instead of acting like children trying to ‘win’ the ‘game’ of elections Obama is the first presidential candidate (in my 28 years of life) who has used the powers of positivity to bring us together, to create something special that I want to be a part of. With the exception of Barack, I don’t donate money to politicians because I haven’t found one to be genuine in ethics and leadership ability. We are sick of negativity that politicians use to corrupt our minds like cancer. We want a leader that unites us as a people and brings us up rather than puts us down. We want a leader that has faith in us as people… we are not as stupid as the least common denominator. Give us hope… not fear… Our country will receive whatever it puts it’s eyes on, if we are a fear focused nation we will live a life of fear… if we are a hope filled nation our fears will dissolve. We love Barack Obama because he is positive through and through and we can tell he isn’t doing this to “win”. Thank you for taking time to read my feelings. The way I see it, Hillary Clinton would make a great manager… but a poor President… let’s hire a real leader for once!

I heard a Telecast two weeks ago after Obama won Iowa, Someone asked Hillary, Does she think she would win the California Primary and she stated, I’m superstitious, and I won’t answer that right now! She has a belief or practice resulting from Ignorance, (Trust in Magic or Chance), and when she got teary eyed and about to cry on national television and she loves this country and I can’t believe I lost.
Under our current state as a country, it’s the little things that count. How would she react in a crisis? I don’t want to find out….When it’s too late!
