Plug Pulled On Obama – Edwards Meeting
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: An in-person meeting schedule for tonight between Senator Barack Obama and former Senator John Edwards in North Carolina has been rescheduled, the Obama campaign confirms.
The two were intended to meet in North Carolina, Edwards’s home state, after Obama’s last campaign event of the day wrapped up in Baltimore.
"It will be rescheduled. We’re gonna make it happen," Obama said today at a campaign stop at Mayorca coffee shop in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Obama is campaigning today in Maryland in advance of tomorrow’s primaries in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Both Obama and Clinton are actively courting Edwards’s endorsement. Obama told reporters earlier this week that he talks with Edwards on the phone frequently and he has personally asked him for his endorsement. Senator Clinton met with John Edwards secretly last Thursday.
It is unclear which party ultimately pulled the plug on tonight’s meeting between Obama and Edwards and no cause was given for the abrupt rescheduling, but sources have indicated that the Obama campaign and Edwards wished that the meeting would be done in private without massive media attention.

I think that the country is ripe for change. A Clinton is no change. It’s McCain or Obama time. As a two time voter for Bush, I certainly hope that Obama wins.

If Edward endorse Hilary, it will be HILAREOUSLY creepy!
If Edward endorse Hilary, he will be acting like a political pygmy.
Edward’s soulmate is Obama. And without any hesitation, Edward should endorse Obama! From political ideological standard, that’s the most rightful thing to do.
Clintons will say anything, do anything to win nomination!

If Hillary Clinton is elected as President this country is finished. Firstly Bill will be making all kinds of secret deals outside of the country(Remember how he made the Israeli release Mohammed Atta, and look what he did, flew a plane into the world trade center)Secondly Hillary lies like a rug,she is a socialist trending towards communism..Watch our America.

not voting for someone because of race is just as stupid a reason to vote for someone because of race, or gender for that matter. He’s intelligent, he’s shown an ability to lead and make decisions. He has shown an ability to acknowledge that the opposition party may have different ideas but they believe in doing what is best for America as much as he does, and that gives them common ground to build on.

You know Im tired of the arguement about Obama not voting for the war. Senators are for the people and that is how senators vote. Believe me if Chicago was attacked and 3000 people died in a single day and he was presented with information from the government about who was responsible – he would have voted the same. The entire country wanted revenge so everyone needs to do some soul searching. I am a Black women and I voted for Hilary – it wasn’t a vote against Obama it was a vote for a candidate I know can make effective change. As far as her special interest- Obama has them as well. Starting with the Kennedys all the way to Wall Street ( in his back pocket).

FULL OF RHETORIC, little substance, except what he has copied from Hillary’s plans. EXPERIENCE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Do you want McCain as the next President? He does have experience, and he is a moderate. He will not, however, be advocating Hillary’s plans which this country desperately needs. Hillary has the experience, the intelligence, the wisdom, and the toughness we need now!

Edwards can give his endorsement to either candidate, because Dems are clearly taking the White House in ’08!!!

Here’s a nice little piece of information about Hillary Clinton. SHE’S A “HYPOCRITE”. Remember when she brought up the issue during one of the debates about how Barrack Obama accepted donations from some “Slum Lord” (Hillary’s words). She did the exact/identical thing.
And I quote:
In late August 2007, a major contributor to, and “bundler” for, Clinton’s campaign, called a “HillRaiser”, Norman Hsu, was revealed to be a 15-years-long fugitive in an investment fraud case. He was also suspected of having broken campaign finance law regarding his bundling collections. The Clinton campaign first said it would donate to charity the $23,000 that Hsu personally contributed to her, then said it would refund to 260 donors the full $850,000 in bundled donations raised by Hsu. Hsu was subsequently indicted on new investment fraud charges.
And just a little more info to think about when making your decision:
Clinton spent $36 million towards her reelection(2006 senator re-election), more than any other candidate for Senate in the 2006 elections. She was criticized by some Democrats for spending too much in a one-sided contest, while some supporters were concerned she did not leave more funds for a potential presidential bid in 2008. In the following months she transferred $10 million of her Senate funds towards her now-official presidential campaign.

This is not issued about race, gender, etc…, it’s all about candidate. As you imagine that the man with only 1 year experience in senate, and have no nothing knowledge about economics, national securities, etc… the national securities is one of the most important issue in america nowadays. As, senator Barack Obama doesn’t have any knowledge about those. So, if he elects as president, i believe U.S. citizens will collapse both national securities and economics. Just think 1 simple way.
Will the big company hire the employee with 1 year experience, and run as CEO for the company =>the answer NO.
the senator Barack Obama always said “Change” change what, he doesn’t have any experience, how he can change. right now, he doesn’t have any specific ideas how to lead america in the right direction. All i can said that he has lucky not to vote in the Iraq War, the reason he did not vote beacause he has no experience about this.

I’m amazed that people cannot see that Obama is all talk and no action. He’s a hypocrite. He talks about people are tired of all the same Washington politcs with the same old players, yet he actively seeks the endorsements of the most “old school” politicians: Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, etc. He’s a sellout and a phoney.
It is also incredibly arrogant and presumptuous for him to think that he’s so great that he’s going to be a whole new revolution and a new era. We don’t need such arrogance in a president. We already have an arrogant president, and look where it got us.
Hillary Clinton is proven through the years and standing up for the things she claims she is for. Clinton is still more popular among Americans than Obama.
Hillary Clinton, all the way to the White House. We need solutions, not diatribes and clever speeches.

Obamas problem is that the general election is NOT a giant caucus. He cant drag kids out of their dorms for an social event.
He cant HYPE himself into a frenzy in 50 states simultaneously. He wont get the same ‘independent’ vote as he gets in red state caucus’s .
He will not have a 50% african american voter base in the general election. Because most of african americans are in the democratic party.
He will not get the latino vote.
He will not win Florida. He will not win Ohio.
He will NOT win the general election. Everyting that is making him win right now is NOT availiable to him in the general election. It works like a giagantic primary.

Whenever Obama gets any criticism at all, like from President Clinton, he shrinks under the pressure and plays the victim. Grow up! He’s such a brat. He has an attitude of entitlement; and no surprise, all the positive coverage is thrown at his feet without him having to ever prove himself. He has not been an agent of change as a senator. He has climbed to his status through piggybacking off of “the old politicians” that he criticises. Obama is slimy.

After all the complaining and campaigning AGAINST Hillary Clinton and her CONNECTIONS to lobbyists, lawyers, drug companies and security and exchange — if Edwards goes ahead and ENDORSES her – it’s because she GAVE him a position in the White House better than what Barack if offering. At least with Obama, he know Obama met the standards Edwards PUSHED all year long – no special interests.
I’ve said from the beginning, Edwards is about Edwards…..NOT the POOR people as he claims.

We need Hillary Clinton. She outlines real solutions and real plans, and she has been one of the most vocal critics of this administration for a long time. She has consistently fought for healthcare, for children, for the elderly, for the environment. She would be a conscientious and well-reasoned president. Who know what Obama would be? He has little record. For me to vote for you, you have to prove yourself. Obama’s claims of being for change, yet embracing the Kennedy, etc in order to promote himself shows how fake he is. He’s a slimy hypocrite.
Obama is a fad that will fade away eventually, just like everyone in the country was hyped for the war, and that has died out and turned to a want to end the war.

Question: Is it possible for a Democrat Candidate/Edwards to give his delegate votes to a Republican? Also, Edwards should wait for the last minute to make any decision.
Posted by: Mary | February 11, 2008, 1:54 pm 1:54 pm
Okay, can someone please tell me, if the nominanee of your choice is not elected, why would you in turn vote republican? To me, something seems to be logically flawed if you think with that “If I dont win… no one wins mentality.” And frightening enough I’ve heard several people say they would do such a thing despite the fact they were a 100% against McCain!
Betsy I am a young African-American male. What you just said makes absolutely no sense to me. You say you would not vote for a black man to run as president but in the same breathe you talk about how inexperienced he is. Which is it? Why is race even an issue?
I digress. My main question is why so many people have such a mentality?

Obama will win even without the support of Edwards.

I think an Obama/Edwards ticket would be the ultimate winning ticketf for November. But Edwards endorsement of Obama would be helful as well. Hillary and Edwards did not have as much in common during the debates as Obama and Edwards did. Both Obama and Edwards want to change Washington DC and get rid of lobbyists. Hillary said she knew how to deal with lobbyists (no change). I want lobbyists outlawed the same as Edwards and Obama.

Maybe next time each party should pick up the best actor/actress or preachers to compete for the most difficulty job — this Obama-fantasy really worries me. “Change” — what kind of change — what the hell does the fantasy so desperately want to change USA? to a heaven-land? maybe people forget we are the greatest nation in the world even we have this or that problems, we don’t need a so-claimed-to-be-washington-outsider to break the system, which, by the way, of course is not perfect, but definitely the best one in the world. The more I listen to this guy and watch the craziness of his supporters, the more the “fantasy” reminds of recent “heaven-fantasy” in other countries in recent history — people (especially young people) are dreaming of a perfect government/politics that will never come. But thank god we have the best democracy that will put an end to this “hype” sooner or later — of course, the sooner, the better.

Friends:Not since the days of Truman, have we faced a more difficult and turbulent time in our history. We are in two wars, one which is justified and the other not, there are fanatical terrorists who are out to destroy our dream, our borders are insecure, the economy is in a shambles, the Chinese and the Arabs are bailing out our corporate giants, the dollar is so worthless that middle class Americans such as me can’t afford to travel abroad, our people are losing their biggest asset which is their home, we have a health care crisis which is on the verge of collapse, the number of uninsured or underinsured Americans are about 50 percent of the population, we are beholden to the oil states and the sheiks, and our environment is falling apart. We have to think carefully about whom we elect as our next president. We should not be carried away by our hearts and use our minds at this crucial juncture. For me, there is only one candidate who can deal with our multitude of problems and that is Hillary. She is a strong and courageous woman who has withstood assaults on personality, character, family, sex, name it whatever. She has a track record for strong work ethic and over the past 8 years in the senate, she has shown that she can work across party lines to negotiate and achieve a consensus. To those who believe that a single person can bring about change that is foolhardy. Our forefathers have created a great system of pride for all of us with the three arms of the government which bring about the checks and balances which protect all of us.Hillary has been at the forefront in the battle for civic rights, children’s and women’s rights, abused children and women, families (“It takes a Village”) and health care. You can blame her for all you want, but she battled to keep her family intact after the Monica scandal.

You people that are ranting against Obama. First, someone ask what he stands for. Go to his website and get educated. Just like I have on the rest of the candidates. They all have a website available so you can read where they stand on the issues. But instead most of you will go by what someone else has told you. Also, if you want to know his voting record while in the senate, look it up. Go to the U.S. Senate website and look for yourself. That’s what I did. I got REAL information. If you want to know what he did while in the Illinois Senate, look it up. He sponsored or co-wrote over 800 bills. and a couple were co-sponsored between himself and Senator McCain regard (i.e. CO2 emissions Bill).
Get a clue people. Grow up and get educated on the issues before posting information that you have noting to back it up with.

Jason,
As much as you would like for Obama to fade away, the facts don’t support your arguemen. Not only he’s not fading away, his margins of victory are getting larger and larger. Even in Maine where Hillary thought she would win, she lost by 19%. Winning 5 states in a row isn’t exactly fading away, is it.
He may start fading away after his 8 years as President but not before that. Hillary and Bill Clinton are 2 power hungry crooks that would do and say anthing to win an election. American people are obviously too smart for that, and it’s becoming more apparent that the Clinton’s days are coming to an end.

Could it be that Edwards has recently learned that Obama is good friends with Rashid Khalidi, a former PLO terrorist and now a Prof at Columbia Univ, who worked at Chicago U with obama and held a fundraiser for Obama’s run at the US House of Rep.!
Khalidi is also the person who brought Iran’s President, Ahmadinejad, to speak at Columbia!
Isn’t it a fine crowd Obama circles himself with that has a need to be concerned?

Obama spoke out against preempting war in Iraq. Hillary said in her last stump speech that she wants to be held accountable that is why she keeps telling us detail by detail about her policies.
But when it came to the most important vote in her political career, Hillary, like too many others, caved in to the fear mongering. She had a voice to ask Bush the hard questions, but she faiiled to use it. She had the reports that showed no evidence of WMD, or Al Qaeda connections or any imminent danger we would be attacked by Iraq, yet she gave it a blind eye, and got on Bush’s bunnyhop line to Bagdad.
Hillary has cried a few tears this election cycle, but not one tear has she shed for the dead and suffering in Iraq.
The loss of life, treasure and the prestige to this country has been immeasurable. Yet people seem to think that Hillary is a rational choice.
Americans seem to forget that we also, have a duty to hold our leaders responsible when they fail to lead. Obama warned us Iraq was a disastor waiting to happen. When others were afraid to speak out, he had the courage to do so. That is leadership.
In respect for those who have died and those who suffer, contribute to the Obama campaign today.

Amanda…I will answer your questions about Obama and what he stands for. His plan involves creating new jobs in our infrastructure (bridges, roads, etc.) and “green” jobs that help with the environment and lessen our dependency on foreign oil. He will penalize mortgage companies for unscrupulous lending practices. He will provide a saftey net for people who are losing their homes due to foreclosure. His universal healthcare plan will make it affrodable for anyone who wants it. It will be mandated for children. It will save the average family about $2500 per year. He wants to protect Social Security for seniors and if seniors make less than $50,000 they would be exempt from federal income taxes. The minimum wage would be tied to the inflation index so it would go up every year without Congress having to vote on it. He would give college students $4000 for every year they perform community/national/military service. He would fix No Child Left Behind by providing the funding that Bush didn’t. He would reward good teachers with higher salaries. He would begin a gradual pullout of troops from Iraq with a deadline of 16 months so the Iraqis know that they need to develop a political solution to their country’s problems. He would tie aid to Pakistan to them finding Osama bin Laden as they promised they would (instead of giving it to them for nothing in return). He pledges money to end Global Poverty by providing education, medicine, clean water, and HIV/AIDS awareness in third world countries. I could go on but if you really want to know what he stands for then look on his website or go to a website that compares the candidates.

Hillary Clinton = Whitewater Scandal…..Look it up!!!!
Posted by: Bruce H. | February 11, 2008, 2:12 pm 2:12 pm
As a US senator Hillary Clinton was in a much better position to know what’s going on than the average person. The only reason she cast that vote for war which was titled “A joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq” was to show that she is tough, and could be relied upon to lead the nation, and even make war with other nations IF it comes down to it. Now she’s saying “if I know now what I knew then, I would not have voted for war”. That’s typical for politicians who refuse to accept responsibility for their actions. Ronald reagan simply said that he “could not recall”. Bill Clinton under oath said he “did not have sex with that woman”, and also said that he did not inhale.
Voting to make war was part of her grand plan, and one of the few first steps she took to prepare herself toward running for president, and it backfired on her. Her vote to give Bush the green light on Iran was the second step she took. She was concerned about the perception that she’s not tough enough. Like everything else with the Clintons, it’s all about politics. The same perception they all worked so long to create as far as their association with black leaders. It’s all designed to get the black vote, not that they give a damn about black people. If Chelsea ever dated a black person, and considered marrying him they would fly into a rage. The same goes for their association with hispanics. When it became clear that Barrack Obama was getting a substantial portion of the black vote, they tried to neutralize them by building a hispanics firewall. They went out of their way to create this myth that hispanics do not like black people, by having subordinates that could easily be fired leak such nonsense in the media through interviews and hope that the press does not pick up on it. And to a certain extent, they have succeeded. It’s all about divide and conquer for them. Everything for them is about selves, and self-serving. After this election is over Mr Obama needs to get in touch with hispanics community leaders who are not part of the Clintons mafia in order to repair the damage that was done to those minority groups that need each other to survive. If nothing is done about this perception, blacks will no longer be able to count on hispanics votes, and hispanics will not vote for blacks, and we all know who will benefit from such division. Ther is only one person who can destroy the Clinton machine. His name is barrack Obama, and he will get my vote. We need a leader who will represent the people. We already know about the Clintons. Some of us know more than we need to know about them. We know that they don’t deserve to get back in the white house. We need to turn the page and lead the world with new faces and new ways. We need Obama.

Now tell me this. Why is it Clinton’s meeting is secret and Obama’s is ‘JUST A MEETING’. We need to be clear as to how the media views the candidates. The bottom line who will be the “best” nominee. Both candidates have what it takes, so the media needs to stop being unfair to the “women” candidate.I am beginning to believe that people are having a problem (News media) with a female front runner. All press seems to be negative towards her. Anything but another republican in office.

I for one feel that Obama has such a strong core of supporters that he can win the election overwhelmingly in a three race, especially if such an injustice was done to him by the democratic party bosses.

How come even the media lets Obama get away with telling the folks in Idaho a week ago that he was against gun control and yet while he was a State Senator, he voted for and introduced gun control legislation?
Why is it no one challenges this man’s record or his word? Could it be everyone is scared his campaign team or his wife will turn it into a racial issue like they have already?

John Edwards ran a campaign base on ending poverty. He started and ended his campaing in Louisiana. The election in Louisina spoke clearly, they elected Borack. This alone should send a signal to John, that people are going with Borack. If you look at SC, GA and Alabama, LA and of course Utah, Coloado,Arkansa, ect.. Borack received an overwhelming support among white men and women. Borack has gain support among white males like myself. Im an ex-republican who will vote for Obama. I say its sad because my own party want Hillary to win and they will defeat her. Republicans dont like Hillary. Borack in other hand has the ability to bring in republicans to his side. Look at me. Borack is runnig a campaing not base on race, religion or gender. This is why he has such a huge support among independents. So to say that John Edwards will bring to Hillary all the white men is a sense of false hope. Most of the people that vote for John are now supporting Borack. Its to late to change that. John Edwards was not well supported in the South. Borack obama did very well on his own in the south. John said many times that Hillary was the corporate leader taking in more money from lobyst than any of the two. So if he chooses Hillary than he sold his soul by lying to the American people. This has the potential hurting him and what he stands for. Im sorry you dont fight poverty by taking money from lobyst at the long run they hurt working class and poor people..Those were the words of John . If I was John I will not endorse anyone. This can potentialy hurt him beacase of what he says he stands for. It could also be that Hillary is planing to give him a vp shot. That will not do anything at this point, It will only look like a dis-honest plan by the Clintons and Edwards. With that said I think it would be wise for John to curt Obama who will mostlikely be the winner. Obama and Edward have that special affection.

I am having difficulty supporting Obama because he is all about slogans and sound bites and has difficulty articulating policy.
George W had a great sound bite: Compassionate Consevative. No one knew what that was, but we sure know now.
Obama is “Yes We Can!” What does that mean? Can what? Get elected?
I am in TX and if that man does not start giving specifics, and policy details on what “Yes We Can” is, he will not get my vote nor a many others.
We’ve had enough slogans and sound bites from the last 7 years,. This country needs serious action and someone who understands the nuts and bolts of how to make that happen.

I cannot beleive the things you say Obama is going to do. Wake up. I did not see one thing in your rant about Illegals (oh thats right, he wants to provide them free tuition and drivers licenses) or about security(oh thats right he is going to have tea with all the 3rd world dictators and they will like us again). you people are living in a dream world. Get a grip, this is our lives we are talking about. This is not the time to fall for some smooth talking person. I admit he is charasmatic, but he is not ready to be President. He is also the most liberal seator. Anyone who hangs out with Ted “the swimmer” Kennedy needs to be examined carefully.

Cassie, Obama’s is just a meeting because he said he was going to do it. There was no attempt to conceal it and have it leak out after being late to a different function.
Jarr–if you don’t want to look at Obama’s website…that’s fine. But can you then make an argument that what Hillary stands for is clearer?
Hussein–it means ‘little beauty’. If we worry about his middle name, shouldn’t we worry about the current president’s first name? After all, “George” is the name of the king we threw off during the revolution. We should worry because the names are the same that george Bush is attempting to return the states of America to British control. Ri-ight…

Why is everyone so freakin stupid? Popular vote doesn’t elect a president. I think the polls showing Obama defeating McCain simply mean that Obama would get CLOSER to winning the red states than Hillary, and win the blue states by higher margins. Either way, however, they would win the same states. If Hillary wins the usual “Safe democrat” states (she will) plus Ohio and Florida (where she polls better than Obama) she wins the election. Obama CANNOT win Ohio and Florida. The general election is NOT a caucus, it is NOT 50% black. Obama’s supporters are democrats by default…blacks and college students. Hillary’s, hispanics and older people, are not. SHE can win the most votes. Don’t buy into this stupid one-sided Obama hype.

Edwards is really losing my respect.
He’s really drawing out a negotiation for 26 delegates, NONE of whom is obligated to listen to him.
If it is true that the meeting is rescheduled because Edwards wants it kept private, then I would say he is leaning Obama and he used Hillary as a negotiation lever.

America’s needs are dictated by a comment zone and I don’t appreciate the ones telling what my best interest is. Listening and learning with clear, conscious, unbias choice from the facts provide from the candidates (not the media or followers), is an Americans resposibility, to do, when picking a president! This Obama bandwagon is an out rage, a large portion of is followers have no idea his political issues or what he represents in the government. Not a quality I look for in a president. He’s marketing to gain most peoples vote not earning them through his political stance. Let the people vote their choice and that will speak volumes, if we can get a fair vote counted.

With Hillary’s anger at the MSNBC comments about Chelsea in the news…I actually think the media has totally respected Chelsea and given her a free pass. They don’t mention that she works at a billion dollar hedge fund run by top Clinton campaign donors. Or the fact that her boyfriend’s dad (Mezvinsky) is serving time in prison right now. The media has done a good job at keeping its distance, but I fear that Chelsea might be taking advantage of that by going around calling TV hosts and superdelegates while maintaining that she is off limits to the media.

The reason not to vote for either is clear. Neither accept God’s commands and both will lead this country to it’s doom. If we elect leaders who oppose God (and both Obama and Hillary do) then this country will pay for it…
A change should be for the better so that we can return to aligning ourselves more closely with our creator’s commands rather than away from his commands.

FYI, for all those who are calling Obama to “task” for not getting into tiny details for his plans etc, well, he USED to! But folks wanted the Rhetoric, the Vision, the uplifting speeches.. and so all that detailed info IS on the website, because that is what folks wanted.
Now, I am a big fan of Obama, hope he wins.. will vote for Shrillary if she is the nominee, we have had enough Repubs. If it is a choice between another clinton OR another Repub, I will choose the former.. but prefer Obama.
I also think that Edwards represents a segment of the population, by view and intent, and THAT is what his endorsement might mean and NOT his delegates.. but his opinion.
I hear the story over and over.. Obama has inspired people rarely involved with Politics, that the metaview he has of changing the game (now copied by ALL) reflects not just buzz words, but a deep understanding of the human condition. And a plan to improve it. I know I became a dem from Indie, went to my caucus, and made it happen for him.. my wife and 1 yr old also went.. and that kind of motivation, in this day and age, is the TRUE game changer.

I will lose all respect for Edwards if he endorses Hillary. Right now he is clearly weighing whether or not to endorse the front runner (though not for long) and increase his chances of getting a foot in the White House, or to endorse the person who’s beliefs most closely match his. He endorsed Obama clearly in Iowa. It would be shameful of him to jump ship now, and stupid.

<<<Republican until 2004, then voted for Kerry. Bush's experience gave us a war that was based on faulty intelligence provided by a CIA who was led by a Clinton appointee. Bill's experience was a nightmare and he failed to do anything when he had a fully Democrat congress from 1992 to 1994. In 1994, the entire country voted R and took over the Senate, House, and governerships. Before that we had the experience of Bush I. As a 43 year old recovering Republican, I will vote for Obama. But if Hillary gets it, I vote for McCain. Figure it out people. I know a lot of Republicans who love Obama. The option is simple a vote FOR Obama or a vote against Hilliarry.

When you consider the evidence against Saddam at the time and most of the evidence was from Democrats in the Clinton administration, given to Bush, Obama was a weak fool to not support taking Saddam out. Sometimes the issue in picking a President is whether you have a death wish or not. Picking a person with bad judgement based on the obvious info at hand is very dangerous indeed. The terrorists would play Obama like a drum.

I voted for Hillary in the primaries, but I would stand behind any democratic candidate, so if Obama wins the democratic nomination I will vote for him any day over McCain. That said, what Julio is advocating if Hillary wins—that Obama run as an independent is dangerous to even think. If that were to happen and no other Republican candidate ran as an independent, the democratic votes would be split and McCain would easily win the White House—no change—same old Republican guard, and McCain really is Bush-lite—he has a great personality, but unfortunately I sense his logic is questionable—just like Bush. Hillary or Obama, and lets not bash the candidates. Ideally Hillary seems to have the most experience and dedication, but if Obama can unite the country and save us from Republican downfall, I will gladly vote Obama.

Let me see if I get this right. The Hillary team plans to eliminate the tax cuts, raise taxes, convert the country’s Health Care system to socialist model, drastically cut the military, and provide jobs for all Americans. In addition, they plan on doing all this, while flipping the middle finger to the Republicans. Wow, they really think they can do all this without bi-partisan support. I wonder what their plan is when the stock market tanks. Cause it WILL tank folks.
If we’re going to have a Democrat for President, let it be Obama. At least he says he’ll work with all groups to solve the important issues.

Barack is great at giving speeches (not too good at debating face to face), but I haven’t heard a lot about what he has accomplished in life except being a media darling. I am sure these next 8 or so months will reveal the real Barack. The republicans and the media have grilled Hillary for 16 years now and they have nothing on her. She has survived so many crisis’s and is still standing. She is a seasoned leader, so she gets my vote.

BronxBoy – I understand your concern, but don’t share them. Of course it will be a tough race. Presidential races always are. However, the wind is behind the Democrats’ back on this one, because of general unease over the Bush Administration.
If Clinton is the nominee, then her polarizing effect comes to play. She would energize Republicans like no one else could. Obama won’t to the same degree. Sure, most Republicans won’t agree with him on most issues. That’s true of any Democrat. But you won’t see the other side spinning through the ceiling like you would with Clinton as the nominee.
The race will be much tougher because the Republicans are actually going to nominate a candidate independents like. That’s extraordinary. I’ve never seen it – independents came around to Reagan, but during the nomination race preceding his first term, they weren’t there yet. In fact, prior to that, he was seen as the ultra-conservative. Part of H.W. Bush’s rationale in that nominating race was that he was a moderate who could win the general election.
Democrats need to counter this with their best candidate among independents.
Will anonymous e-mails continue the attacks about Obama being a Manchurian Muslim, drug user, etc. Yep. But its a whole lot less baggage than Democrats would have to defend with Clinton. And most of it is silly enough to potentially backfire. The real threat I see is a negative campaign aimed at immigration policy, but by nominating McCain the Republicans won’t be too fired up to get into that.
Will Obama win the southern states? No, not for the most part. He will have an outside shot in Virginia and Louisiani. I’m sure he’ll spend there, forcing McCain to use resources to defend. But remember, those states weren’t thought to be battlegrounds. If Obama can make either a race, we’re probably looking at a big win in the rest of the country.
McCain would make it tough in the Southwest, but that’s a fact against any Democrat.
And thanks for acknowledging you’ll support the ‘other’ candidate should yours lose the nomination.

People are so gullible I can’t believe all that I’ve been reading.
First the media is not neutral they are republicans. Two they are all in love with the Obama parade now but if he is selected they will turn on him too. Third people blindly follow Obama like he was the second coming of the Lord and we should all know that anyone who believes he is God is pathetic and self righteous. What has he really done for any of you? Talk is cheap. I don’t know Hillary personally and neither do any of you but her husband’s transgressions are not hers. Beside none of any candidates personal lives are any of our business nor do we know what it best for others. Many of the men posting want to spit at the mention of Hillary’s name but to them a strong women is a bitch and a strong man is a leader. Insecurity is what I call it. It took a year for Obama to mention the old because he, like the republicans, don’t care…let them eat cat food and as far as medical coverage goes if you can’t afford it then we will continue to pay your way. I grew up very poor and college was something you worked for and accomplished on your own. Giving it to people does not build character and only makes me angry that I will have to pay for lazy people for the rest of my life.

Kerry’s problem was that he lacked charisma and didn’t stand up to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign and there were plenty of Republicans hoping that Dean would run because they thought he would be easy to attack. I understand people are afraid of Obama’s inexperience, but Lincoln didn’t have much experience either and he did OK. A great speaker who is intelligent can get a lot of things done. I think Obama’s black roots have helped him until now because people want to believe that in the US anybody can be anything- including a black man for President. Once he gets the nomination though, people will be looking for someone who can fill the shoes of the highest office in our country. I’m happy to say that he is that person. It is too bad that he has felt a need to contain his intelligence and stick to sound bites, but it’s all there folks whether you want to believe it or not. Hillary is competent and experienced but unfortunately has many people that hate her (to the point where she spurs people to donate money against her). If she gets it, I won’t spoil her run but I honestly think Obama has the better chance. Apparently so do a lot of thoughtful people around me.

Bush and Cheney and their slimey corporate buddies have greedily run this country into the ground with the republicans squarely, until recently, behind them, so I think Hillary has a great chance at winning the Presidency. Going back to the State of the Union snub by Barack to Hillary, if Barack cannot face a competitor in the political arena, how in the world will he face leaders like Putin? Putin will have him for breakfast. With the Clintons, we had a surplus, with the republicans, TRILLION UPON TRILLIONS in debt. Can ANY republican, “evangelicals” especially, defend THAT? Edwards will endorse the person who will “assist” him.

I think either candidate would be a far better option than ANY of the repubs (by now of course that would be McCain). However I support Hillary and want her to win the nomination. This is because of the simple reason that I do not believe America is ready to elect a black president.
Current polling shows Obama beating McCain with a slight lead, but that’s just polling. Voters aren’t faced with their own racism/misgivings over electing a black man to the White House. I do not believe that on election day he would win. The voters would chicken out and go for the white guy. America needs more time to divest itself of lingering prejudices and place a qualified black man in the white house (and believe me, Obama is qualified). But that is the sad truth right now.

Hope everyone thus far has been enjoying the free Tony Robbins feel good speeches given by Obama!
How will you like them should he get the White House and does nothing as his record indicates?
Will you still enjoy his feel good talks then?
What is really amazing is how people can even consider someone who continually changes his position on the campaign trail, like in Idaho saying he was against gun control, yet as a State Senator, he voted for gun control 15 times! To his saying he voted against the war in Iraq, how could he of voted when he wasn’t even a US Senator at the time?
Someone with the ability to be liestened to and believed in what he says with an completely different record as proof of his real stance makes thinking people wonder just what is it people want in the White House?
One thing is certain, come Jan 20th, 2009, the person who is saying it is all about everyone in America and not about him sure won’t give any of those voters for him in the White House, it will be his place to control, so look at the person behind the words, you won’t like what you see, THAT IS REALITY!

Senator Clinton speaks from political experience, knowledge. Senator Obama only talks about philosophical “hope”, “belief”, “we can” its actually a little depressing. Eight years after Bush, America deserves, and expects more than his philosophy. America needs a president, not a preacher, or idol.

I don’t consider Obama a clear winner when we still have caucuses which use strong-arm tactics to get people to change their votes. Voting is suppose to be done as a secret ballot. If caucuses were done a way with, popular votes would be with Clinton. Obama is not my choice for The Democratic party and I will not vote for him if he gets the nomination and this is purely on his ability to be our next President. He has constantly used his race as an issue, his candidacy is nothing more than a cult-like fervor. He has no substance in his policies and he has a better-than-thou attitude. He has a lot of issues that need discussing before he could ever be ready for the Presidency. I am very distressed with the bias in this Democratic race and the Hillary-bashing is more than childish.

To Walt: You speak well for Hillary. I echo everything you have said. She has been an agent of change her entire life, despite adversity and ridicule. Everyone needs to start with her words at Wellesley when she was the age of some of the starstruck Obama supporters. She has taken action over and over again to make things better for many: women, children, workers, the disenfranchized and the poverty-stricken. The bias we see over and over from once trusted CNN and MSNBC is not deserved. People need to read and quit listening to soundbites. CHANGE means very little when it is empty rhetoric.

Senator Clinton is the wife of the best President of my lifetime. The people that are creating the turmoil and divisiveness are Republicans and ill advised Obama supporters. Rewriting history only works on people with short memories. I’m voting for whoever gets the Democratic nomination because both would be a vast improvement over the over the “BORROW AND SPEND REPUBLICANS”.

There is no one with the same experience as Clinton. She has had first hand living a presidential term as first lady. Also two years in the senate. She is the best.

“If the democrats are really stupid enough to run an inexperienced hype-merchant like Obama against a seasoned, experienced man of substance like John McCain then they never deserve to win another election ever again. How stupid can they be? This is why I stopped voting for Dems a long time ago – they always find a way to lose.”

Monday Morning Quarterbacks. None better. They would not have thrown that pass if they had know it was going to be intercepted. HUH??
Just like Obama is saying: If he had been a US Senator at the time the Iraqi war vote was taken, he would have voted NO. How do we know this?? Because he said so. RIGHT! Monday Morning Quarterback.

If she knew and didn’t say or do anything that in itself bolsters my argument even more. She was the wife of a President in office. She loves Bill no doubt about that and I never questioned his love for her. But as the wife of an acting US president she should have as hard as it may have been for her stopped Bill if she new or suspected anything was going on. She should not have stopped him solely because he was her husband but because he was the President of the United States. She should have stopped him from embarrassing the Presidency of the United States. She had to separate that decision from her personal life. If she could not or was unwilling to do so how is she going to be able to manage the really tough life and death decisions presidents are routinely required to make?

Hillary was the one who tried universal health care even Obama didn’t know about that time; Hillary was the one who fought for the right of women when Obama was smoking pot; Hillary worked for women and children and proposed separate health coverage for children and still Obama ignores about it; Hillary worked to aware about domestic violence when obama was still harassing women in hi college.
I am a die-heart democrat but Barack Obama, his cult and campaign has pushed away democrats like me too far away and will not get vote from us if wins primary. Stop hating Hillary from today. Hillary is real substance and Barack Hussein Obama is Hollow that will prove by time.

John Edwards really appears to be an opportunist here….I remember when he won the senate from NC….and talk started concerning how he reminds folks of Robert Kennedy and his potential to be president. Edwards was just not ready, obviously……But now Obama really seems to carry on the persona of the Kennedys, and Edwards just want a ride on whoever’s bandwagon……If Clinto is up, he’ll go there…..If Obama is up, he’ll go there…..The reason Edwards is vacillating now is simply because he does not know for certain which way the wind will blow…..
You know, it’s selfish……It’s like gambling for him….’cause if he picks Obama to edorse, and Clinton wins, then Edwards can probably forget any place in her administration……perhaps Obama may be more forgiving provided he wins and his endorsement went for Clinton….He needs then to consider that and stop focusing on himself…..I personally feels that’s what he is doing…
Focus on the America people Edwards!!!!
Obama will be the nominee and the next president.

It is not hating men or women; it is about making country proud and living peacefully. I think Hillary has experience and courage to do that as a President if she wins. I am a woman and Hillary supporter; i swear i am not a feminist i love my husband and children than anything else in the earth. I think Hillary is good mom and good wife and good human being. Clinton is the only one who can make change and do it competently. She is experienced with working with Congress while Obama is a rookie. You need someone who can work effectively with Congress to bring about change. Talking about it rhetorically is not going to do it. Obama has no substance. Only Hillary has the substance to bring about real change.

Hill should now stop promising the moon to the voters as she just get embarrass when confronted with her failed promises. She also risk sounding like
the boy who cried wolf. She promise to wage a 50 state campaign, but her empty
coffer forced her to cherry pick and gamble on big states only. That is not a
winning strategy but a “stragedy”. Al could have won in 2000 had he not
neglected his home state instead of betting big on Florida. Her fantastic “35 years” of experience proves to be the real biggest Fairy Tale that Bill was talking about when she mismanaged her big war chest ! How can voters now trust her when her own personal interest is now getting derailed by her obvious lack of experience ! It is she who is all talk and not a doer. She spent more time in front of cameras and clearly practiced outsourcing instead of doing her personal responsibility (not reading Intelligence Estimate herself). It is her credibility gap that is killing her campaign, doing it is different than just saying it, and she have shown over and over that she is no doer ! She is just all talk and twisting facts to inflate her effort and grab credits.

Obama will say anything to get elected. If he doesn’t have any concrete plans about something which is often happens, He’s just copy what Hillary’s plans and revised some of it. OB supporters will say that OB looks sincere, honest, may unite the country. I tell you folks if you have enough experience in life you just don’t trust what a person will tell you. Jesus said, you will know a tree by its fruits. That said, Obama has no fruits just simply good words/speeches. Faith without works is dead” JC said. Means Obama is not the person that can deliver what he promised because he had no track record that supports them, but Hillary got it. Be wise when you vote because we cannot afford another republican in the White House. Obama will be good once he proves himself through his action but not now because that takes time.

“I think what people might point to is our different assessments of the war in Iraq,” Obama said at the time, “although I’m always careful to say that I was not in the Senate, so perhaps the reason I thought it was such a bad idea was that I didn’t have the benefit of U.S. intelligence.”
Not so much anymore Senator Obama you just stick with “I didn’t vote for the war in Iraq”
So while everyone jumps on Obamas selective telling of his Iraq history they tend to forget 3 in 4 of them were on board at the time of the vote to go to war. Bush duped all of us. So Obama needs to get a new tune and his supporters shouldn’t be so revisionist.

Hillary= Unethical, lacking scruples (or else she would have divorced that narcissistic husband of hers long ago); experienced in how to manipulate the electorate to vote her way at any cost;had to move from her “native” Arkansas into NY to get elected by “her party’s machinery”.
Obama= Great orator and a quick study, BUT HAS ACCOMPLISHED LITTLE IN public life; elected senator when his repub opponent was outed in a sex scandal close to the election; his vote against the WAR back then displayed a complete indifference of the facts “as they were known to be accepted by most ADULTS.” The fact that Bush then ran an incompetent war after the fact, does not diminish Obama’s “cluelessness”…..

So,from the above post I get that Hillary is more divisive than Obama and thereby more electable. However, I believe that it is hate that is more divisive which used to be a republican trait. Nowadays, it appears from their own posts that 90% of all hate is coming from the Obama folks, therefore it appears to me that Obama’s own supporters do not believe his message whatsoever. If Obama supports do not believe then how can an undecided voter like me possibly believe?
At the same time it also appears more Hillary supporters actually believe her message. So, I think I’m gonna stand over here in the corner with Hillary folks because the Obama folks frighten the heck out of me.

Just as a quick note to the “all hype” repeaters… How is this a bad thing? Have you completely missed out on the total lack of allure the Democratic party has had as a matter of habit for the past several several years?
The Clintons never demonstrated handiness at winning formidable elections. Hillary had no competition in NY, and Bill was handed 1992 because of the once-in-a-lifetime double-digit chipaway at the Republican base by Ross Perot. In a R vs. D race, Bill likely would have lost for all his “comeback kid” nonsense.
Obama has what it takes to give America an attitude adjustment. I’ll take 30 million of that over Hillary’s “I’m reviled and heavily despised, but I have enough experience to keep a constant pack of barking dogs on the other side of the fence!” Yeah, she’ll really unite America. Wake up, people. Our disunity is an issue in and of itself, on which Hillary has her backside handed to her every time by Barack.

I for the life of me can’t understand why the people of the United states would even contemplate electing someone who has little experience in politics, and is unknown to us, where did he come from, who is he, Does he have any experience running a state and if so what state so we might see something he has done, we have seen over and over again Hillary and her husband fighting for the united states citizens, for education, for health care, for peoples
rights, she has the experience and she has
the backing of a former president who has
done some good for the United states, Obama is making promises that can’t be kept, is a total lie.

Obama IS energetic and charismatic, and I must admit I was “sold” on him for awhile. But as the weeks go by, I’ve noticed how well he can harangue a crowd while saying absolutely nothing! He reminds me of an evangelist, full of “fire and fury”, but without any substance. I’ve also noticed he gives a different kind of speech when in front of a mostly-black audience, such as a black church. Then he sounds like every major black leader of the last half-century, while he “talks black”, as if his audience cannot notice his ethnicity. He’s not a stupid man, by any means; he has learned what gets votes, and he plays the race card very carefully and very well.

The Democratic party should focus on who is the best candidate to beat the Republicans. The polls show it to be Obama.
John Kerry said it most eloquently when he said that an Obama presidency would be one of transformation not transition. What this country desperately needs is to come together and heal. A divisive campaign with HRC being the nominee will not be good for this country. She will not win.

How can ANYONE think it will get votes to continue the policy of a President who has a 30% approval rating? November will belong to the Democrats.

Why cant Dems ever think strategically? Check this out:
1) let hilary be the prez and obama vp.
2) lets make sure we get the dem team elected for the next 8 years. This is possible with the combo of H + O.
3) Obama will get his “experience” and he should be the prez for another 2 terms thereafter.
Guess what? We as Dems have the Whitehouse for the next 16 years. This is how the republicans have always thought and have won the whitehouse.
Its time for us dems to get aggresive and start thinking long term.
Lets have both the candidates on the ticket.

Obama and the War P2
Obama has opposed the war in Iraq from day 1 and has been consistent throughout. Unfortunately, the Clintons and some of their misinformed supporter continue to try to distort the truth out of desperation. And God knows they need to pull every dirty trick in order to have a chance to win.
It’s true that a year after the war had started, Obama said, at this point, with the troops already being in Iraq, we need to make sure that they stabalize and train the Iraqi forces we leave. He said it wouldn’t be good for our international standing to go in, destroy a country, and just leave.
Now what about that is inconsistent, I don’t understand. Distorting the facts and willing to do anything to win an election is exactly the reason that people are so turned of by the Clintons and their supporters.

Hell, I can talk and talk, and if I got someone good writing my speeches for me, hell I can sound down right Presidential. That ain’t nothin.

Obama promises change, but no roadmaps to deliver the change. The truth is, it takes the Congress to approve the ‘Change’. Obama can make promises and hope, but it doesn’t mean anything unless Congress changes their attitude.
It is sad that Obama supporters don’t know any of his policy positions. His votes of ‘Present’ show he doesn’t know where he should stand on issues. He doesn’t cares for the low income group. The low income Americans will suffer the most under Obama’s single-payer system health plan. They will go without insurance to save money, then wind up homeless when they are forced to pay for emergency room. On the other hand, Hillary’s Health Care Plan includes mandates that everyone be covered. For that reason it is better than Obama’s which will not work because it doesn’t cover everyone.

Let’s face it folks, each candidate running, be they Democrat, Independent or Republican, is power-hungry, but, you and I as citizens of this once great country, need to vote for the one running right now that will get America back to what it once was, an honest, decent, worldly country, not some corporate, money-hungry machine that grinds up disadvantaged-U.S. Soldiers, Marines, Navy & Air Force and all of our National Guard and their families and leaves them all to rot in under-equipped military hospitals with no benefits. THINK! WHO IS MOST QUALIFIED! THINK!!!!! Your vote for the candidate, DEEP DOWN, that you KNOW will be able to reverse these last 7 years. If you can’t bring yourself to really THINK about who you are voting for, but will just go ahead like a milk-cow on the barn path and “vote your party”, then you need to stay home and NOT VOTE AT ALL! Our American Women and Men are being maimed and thousands dead and dying, trying to serve this country that they thought was being true to them. Do you think Bush and Cheney and their slimey buddies were true to our troops? THINK!!! Many, many lives are in YOUR hands. JUST THINK, PLEASE!!! Would you actually have the gall to vote for a war-crazy republican, AGAIN? Vote tested experience!

If Edwards is a real champion for the poor, which I believe is the case, he definitely knows which candidate to choose. Just see who voted for Obama and Hillary. The affluent and young voted for Obama while the poor and middle class voted for Hillary. With Hillary and Edwards together, the poor may really hae a chance for life. Edwards’ dream for the poor can become reality.

To have an “honest, decent worldly country,” we need an honest, decent and worldly president. I hope all logical people would agree that if there is one thing that the Clintons dont possess is honesty and decency.

Edwards has been running as the champion for the poor. Just look who voted for Obama and Hillary, he should have no problem in choosing. The affluent and young voted for Obama while the middle class voted for Hillary. By teaming up with Hillary, Edwards will finally have a chance to fulfill his dream for the poor.

Ray. I am asking for proof.
You didn’t answer a single question posed. Again, Obama supporters refuse to give searchable, proveable, touchable evidence.
None of you are from Illinois, so none of you know first hand.
My candidate can run circles around you candidate on direct, active law. She can point to actual votes she has taken, even if they were wrong. Your candidate runs from facing a tough vote. He has done that 130 times. He has exaggerated the Ethics Bill, or in fact lied. He did NOTHING to the Ethics Bill. He didn’t write it, effect it, sponsor any of it, or co-sponsor any of it.
He gave his cronies on the energy board of his donator Exelon a free pass that even his own Democrats in the statehouse rejected.
He attacks Clinton on Wal-Mart, while hiding the fact as best he could that Michelle Obama worked and gained through a company attached at the hip to Wal-Mart.
I sell real estate. You don’t get to cut your property in half after you have signed a contract, because you can’t afford the lot that comes with it. You don’t just say, I’ll take half, thank you very much.
The hospital his wife works for charges disgustingly inappropriate mark ups on drugs and services, and 6 times the amount for blacks and minority patients as whites. but you don’t believe it, so you don’t respond.
Obama is elected and his wife more than doubles her salary in a week, how convenient. But you don’t believe it, so you don’t respond.
It is the same game. Make a comment. Dug up the past. but never answer the questions.
Are you from Illinois?
How has being a resident of the state changed once Obama was elected?
What bills did he write?
When did those bills become law?
What votes did he make that changed your life for the better?
What official documents can you direct me to, that prove anything he has done?
How many times did you vote for him?
How did he effect crime in your state?
Did he try to create a state health plan for you?
Did he offer a solution to homelessness in Illinois?
Did he lower your taxes or raise them?
Answers please.
But I already think I know. You are not from Illinois. You don’t live in Illinois. You don’t know first hand what he did in Illinois.
You are basing all your rhetoric and energy on things ‘you have read’ or ‘heard’ or ‘watched on tv’.
That helps me sleep at night. Knowing that that is all it takes to know who can run something, and who can’t.

News Alert: German president quote´s Obama´s dare to hope slogan.
And I quote:
The old and the new America are shaking hands!
Americans, my people, party members,
one year ago, a new movement was formed, I and this movement of hope will join the government.
I believe that we are achieveing out goals for which we have fought all this year.
We shall not lie and we shall not cheat. I have therefore declined to come here to the people with cheap promises. In our own hands, in our own hands alone lies the destiny of American People. Only if we raise ourselves and our people through hard work, industry, their own determination and daring to hope, their own perseverance only then we shall rise again.
In days gone by our fathers too have not received America as a gift but have created it themselves.
People of America, give me 4 years, and I swear to you so I shall leave it then. For I will not take it for gains or wages but for your sake alone.
German president in 1933.

Ray, first of all Hillary is not Bill.
Could you pls tell me why you think Obama is honest and decent. Please give concrete answers not just because people said that he is honest and sincere and be able to unite our country. If that all you can give me, I won’t buy it. Tell me what his accomplishments are to support your point.

2009 read it and weep
Obama’s life story, is an object lesson in resilience. He overcame the discrimination of an immigrant background, and a racially mixed family, as well as the loss of a father, sporadic poverty and the distractions of his teenage youth, to become a Harvard Magna *** Laude, a civil rights lawyer, a state senator and a US senator. This history is both a validation of his spirit AND of the national pursuit of the American dream for all. “Yes we can” is much more than a slogan in the context of his life. The far Right will undoubtedly try to discredit him by highlighting the forks in his path where he temporarily stalled. But his ultimate choices will discredit their cynicism and inspire an uncertain younger generation to make the right choices, themselves. Further, the cingular act of electing him would reassert America’s resilience in the world without a single policy debate. It would be tangible proof that American’s still value opportunity and equality for all even after 911.
His bio can be found at http://votesmart.org/bio.php?can_id=9490
His legislative experience is much greater than Hillarys. See http://thomas.loc.gov
During the first (8) eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:
**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more.

It was a tell-tale sign last nite at Obama rally. A Hawaian lady said that she could not decide whom to vote as she was torn between her son and her husband. Her 8-year-old son is all excited about Obama while her husband is out to campaign for Hillary. Hum. 8-year-old boy really understands what is at stake in this election.!!

No one is perfect, Ray. Everyone stretches the truth to get what they want. For each candidate, this rings true, as it does for you and I. We all have skeletons, don’t we, Ray? The 2008 Election is to decide which of the four candidates will get us back on track. Of the four: Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Huckabee, Mr. McCain, or Mr. Obama, which one do you absolutely-down-in-your-heart think will do the best job? Vote for the country, not yourself! Vote Hillary!

He did not co-sponsor the Ethic Bill. He had nothing to do with that bill. And it wasn’t hard to pass, it took 14 days.
His nuclear bill in his own state was a disaster that his own democrats rejected.
He said himself, he was only able to get 5 or 6 bills into law during his entire 8 years in office.
He sponsored ALONE nearly nothing. He had help, or more powerful side-kicks doing it for him.
Comprehensive Immigration Bill? You want to go there and find out who was initiating that bill, LONG BEFORE OBAMA jumped on the wagon? Again, didn’t write that bill, didn’t edit that bill, didn’t effect that bill, didn’t co-sponsor that bill.

Point me to the non-partisan, official government site, that the 820 bills are found in.
Not from someone’s website who is a fan or a detractor.
I want the site address where this information is. A government site. Where you found it.

ABC news, what has happened to you. The headline reads, ‘Plug Pulled On Edward-Obama Meeting” implying there will be no meeting. But after reading the article, it seems the meeting was simply rescheduled. There is no way Edwards will back Clinton when he pushed the idea he wouldn’t take political contributions from corporations, Obama didn’t either but Hillary took millions of dollars. Just like there is no way Clinton will change anything substantially because she takes these big donations from corporations like the health insurance companies and the drug companies. We will get tiny improvements, if we get any at all from her. Just like Bush was backed by the oil and coal industries and Halliburton, he paid them back once in office, at the expense of the people. Obama doesn’t owe any corporations ‘favors’ thus Edwards should back him if he is the principled man I think he is.

HRC’s run for the presidency, gives me hope that a woman might, just break the ultimate glass ceiling. Mothers will be able to tell their daughters, “You can be anything, you want, even President of the United States,” and it will be true. Talk about change! Everything changes, if a woman becomes President of the United States. Perhaps, it will help to reduce some of the gender bias, that exists in the U.S., and around the world.
She is so qualified for this position. She knows healthcare, inside and out. Her policy work with healthcare and education issues over the years gives her a deep insight and committment towards improving the lives of people. During her years as First Lady of Arkansas, she was the first wife of a governor, who held a job. And, yes, she received bad press and criticism for doing this, but she kept doing it, anyway. She was the first female law partner in the Rose law firm. This was a first, in Arkansas. While she was First Lady of Arkansas, she worked to improve the education programs, and these programs exist today, and have been implemented in other states. She also did policy work for improving healthcare for children. Along the way, she has made mistakes, which I believe she has learned from.
Foreign policy issues are not foreign to her. She has served on the Armed Services Committee in the Senate, and has experience with policy issues. During her years of First Lady, she worked on improving human rights issues, breast cancer awareness, HIV/AIDS research, which gave her the opportunity and experience of traveling to many different countries, and interacting with all levels of people.
Most of all, she is tough, and knows her own mind. The gender bias she has faced during this primary season has been mind boggling, but she keeps focused and working towards her goal.
People talk about her being divisive, but during her senate work, she has worked across party lines, and has earned the respect of her fellow senators. It is important to realize the good work she has done. She has demonstrated her competence many, many times.
This gives me inspiration and hope for change. She has been a change agent, her entire life.

OBama is very flexible all right. When he see the devil, he says:” I love sharp horns.” When he sees an angel, he says:”i love your round halo.”
To the Easterners, he hates guns; to the westerners, he does not oppose to guns. We really need this guy who is everywhere on the same issue.

Nitty, she was the sponsor of those bills, go to the Library of Congress site. Those are HER sponsored bills.
She introduced them. She wrote them. I realize you must be in the military, and for that, you are a God. But to repeatedly trash her on all fronts like she was sitting around doing nothing is dishonest.
Those are HER sponsored bills. That means she initiated them, introduced them, attempted to get them passed. Read some of them. They are quite impressive, especially some of the veterans acts, childrens act, rape victims acts, prevention of farming agency closure acts, green energy acts, reading and literacy acts, assistance to Zimbabwe act, tons of stuff.
I am not saying Obama is a dunce. I am just saying this blind admiration is a mystery. None of you people even knew his name and you act like he is your parent. You defend on all points and ignore any single story that proves he is not exactly who he says he is.
None of you address these stories. You distract with the past, or with insults.
I want people who lived under Obama to explain in detail how he changed their lives.
There should be tons of people on all news channels, marching in the streets, declaring their new life thanks to Obama. I mean that is what you all are promising, you have didn’t know he existed in 2000.
Incidentally, so you can get your facts straight, here is the link to prove that she sponsored (authored) those bills.

Here’s a question – why didn’t Harold Ford Jr. run for President? Now there is a man with class, smarts, and no arrogance whatsoever.
He is savy and charming and bright as a bulb. He is not combative. He is a credit to America. He doesn’t spend 20 minutes on non-specific rhetoric. He doesn’t give a speech which is faked with You You You,but it really all about ME ME ME.
He would be a great fresh new, arrogant-free candidate. Tennesee has got to be sorry they lost him. When he runs, he has my vote.
Is anyone going to mention him as a running mate? So far, no one mentions him. And he is very similar to Obama, but with what I feel is way more humility and honesty. It is all about delivery. And he delivers without snide, corner of the mouth insults, nose pointing to the sky, empty lines about fuzzy, imprecise future actions he might take . . . and on and on.
Harold, bump this imposter off the stage and make a run. You have more right to the throne than this court jester ever did.

Associate Press (Today)
“In the interview, Clinton also was asked whether a “business or personal scandal” involving her husband could emerge and derail her candidacy.
“That’s not going to happen,” she said, adding “None of us can predict the future … I’m very confident that will not happen.”
Clinton doesnt seem very confident in the legitimacy of her business dealings in this interview. The question is why is she not releasing her tax returns until the general election??? So that the Repuclicans can have a field day with them and we could lost the whitehouse for the 3rd time in a row?
What’s she hiding? It’s very simple, if she going to release them after she wins the nomination, why is she not releasing them now????

Obama probably rescheduled because he does not want the media attention. He is afraid someone will figure out that there was a backroom deal for Edwards to quit and throw his support and delegates to Obama. Obama smiled that slick lying smile of his and hemmed and hawed all the way around the question when he was asked in an interview. Politicians are politicians. Obama’s glee club better wake up and smell the coffee. Would he lie to you baby? As long as he has the power of speech. I am a lifelong Democrat, but if he gets the nomination, I will unfortunately be voting for McCain.

YES WE CAN & SUPPORT OBAMA !!!
America is tired to elect the same family again and again. I sometimes feel that we are in Kingdom time. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Hilary?, JT Bush? Chelsea? This will never happen. Folks let’s look the candidate’s plan and not the personalities. We are in the 21st century.
America has intelligent leaders. America has leaders with vision. This is a great country. Obama will lead us to the 21st century.
I hate that our shops are full of Chinese products. If US continue to do so there are no jobs for us and no jobs for our kids. There must be big tax break for those employers who keep the job in our soil.
Obama is not accepting any lobbyist or HMO’s donation. Let’s support him.
Obama voted for no war from the first beginning. Hilary voted for war and now against the war. Flip flop.
Obama has great plan for college students. Obama will give $4000 per year and in return social service in the community. That is great plan. After school programs, Amricorps, national service, tutoring services etc.
If Edward join Obama it is great. Obama will win with or without Edward’s help. The grassroots will win. You and me.
YES WE CAN !!!

Otillap, calm down and actually read the candidates positions. Go to their websites, look under ‘issues’ and read, for heaven’s sake. It is all there in black and white. Obama is my choice, after reading all the candidates plans. (Some of them have plans that are like band-aids on a gaping wound.) Obama clearly and logically spells out exactly what he will do about education, energy, healthcare, seniors, social security, homeland security, etc. This is why people are so excited about Obama. He not only gives a good speech but his ideas are top-notch, workable and will get this country on the right track again. And with a record national debt, huge trade deficit, more and more Americans without adequate or any healthcare, record foreclosures and bankruptcies, etc. we need change now. Obama isn’t taking money from corporate america so he can make plans that are fair to the ordinary Americans who are suffering economically from corporations calling the shots for years. Read.
Posted by: Lydia | February 12, 2008, 11:00 am 11:00 am
willie, did you every think the reason Obama got to go to a rich kids high school was because he was so smart. Prep schools (and colleges) want as many smart kids as they can afford to scholarship in because it raises their test scores and looks good if they can say, we had 20 kids accepted to Harvard. And that’s where Obama got his law degree. His mom and dad and his maternal grandparents weren’t rich, you can read his biography on his website. And why more commenters don’t read candidate’s websites for their plans on the issues, I can’t understand. So many people take the time to comment but not to do a bit of extremely easy research.

The bubble and bust economics, regarding the tech & real estate markets, can be traced back directly to the Clinton Administration’s failure to regulate the rate of the growth, due to his greater emphasis on seeking public popularity to shun a myriad of scandals.
Hillary is clearly Bill part.2; why would John Edwards support that? They’ve already failed to reform healthcare after 8 years in office, they’ve strongly polarized Republicans in congress – whose cooperation is needed to support change, they were eager to bomb-up what the UN found to be unnecessary and erroneous targets, again seemingly to distract from a series of domestic scandals.
Finally, why would loyalty to a cheating-with-juveniles spouse make Hillary a great role model for women?
Regarding the comment that Iraq was about dealing with terrorism – please, haven’t we learnt yet that Iraq was not involved with Sept 11 & the resources should have been put into dealing with the true attackers! How naive!

ramona,
I don’t think americans care about about experience. If they do algore would be president. Also, you don’t need experience to run a political position, just be surrounded by experienced and professional people.
Laura bush can be President, Paris Hilton too, Also Opra, by the way Dr. Phil that the one we need.
Posted by: Fama | February 12, 2008, 12:13 pm 12:13 pm
Fama – if Democrats cared about experience, they would have nominated either Richardson, Biden or Dodd (the first three out).
The experience thing was an argument of convenience, which is typical of the Clinton campaign. It knew its competitors were Edwards and Obama, and looked at how it could potentially differentiate from them.
But the simple fact is that Hillary doesn’t have much in terms of a presidential resume, either. Counting First Lady time is just bizarre, though clearly she was more involved with policy than some First Ladies.
She basically has her one-plus Senate term, and some early work running a public office that provides legal services to poorer Americans. Beyond that, she has been involved in an advocacy role for children’s health coverage, and spearheaded Bill Clinton’s effort to pass universal health care.
It isn’t 35 years of public experience, as we all know – Clinton critics and supporters alike. We all know she has some private sector work in there with the Rose Law Firm. Plus she was a law teacher. Nothing wrong with private sector experience, and in fact I prefer some. But her claim of 35 years public experience is objectively not correct.
Most of her name awareness comes from defense of her husband’s candidacy against womanizing charges, and defense of her husband’s administration against womanizing charges.
Its really not a resume that stands out, like say Richardson’s does.
That in itself isn’t a bad thing. If people were to make a list of the five presidents they’d rank among the greatest, and the five presidents they’d rank among the worst, I’d bet the bad ones have more experience. Try it; see if you agree.
The bad part for Clinton is that exaggerations about experience play into a general negative perception of her authenticity – one of things that is particularly damaging for a candidate among independents.

Is this comment directed toward 90% of blacks voting for Obama in every primary or do you really believe Obama is that much better

As a Mom I dont believe a word Hillary says! She will not release her Income Tax Return/info to the public. She has done alot of traveling with McCain who is a Republican! And she dont like News People saying anything bad about her 27 year old daughter, who isnt in the Military like my son.Well Hillary all your daughter has to worry about is words being thrown around at her, my Son has to watch out for more things then just words, Get A Life!

i will not vote for obama–there are a lot of people that feel the same way. guess what that means, at least another four years of the same old crap. i don’t see people coming together any time soon. it’s sad really that everyone’s still fighting over the same stuff.EVERYONE IN WASHINGTON IS DIRTY,so the question would be,who can pull us out of the mess we’re in?
Posted by: trishia | February 12, 2008, 3:01 pm 3:01 pm
well trisha,,,,guess we could just keep puting the same old people in the same old position and get the same old results,,,,,,,Obama can unite this country,,,of coarse there is always gonna be the ” exceptions” who would not get along no matter what..Obama has not been in washington long enough to have the ” HOPE ” boiled out of him. ooppps is that a bad word “HOPE”?

For those who think someone ‘inexperienced’ like Barack can’t run a country, perhaps you’re missing the difference between ‘management’ and ‘leadership’.
The President role is not a management position; it doesnt require someone to deal with paper work or organise a schedule – it requires personality, ideas, confidence and vision. No prior experience is necesary and besides there is no experience that would prepare someone for President of the USA anyway.
His strongest attribute is that he thinks the way normal people do, he’s well educated, eloquent, inspirational and has a strong vision for America.

history lesson,,,todays word is “hope”
when the pilgrims landed here they”hoped” they could break away from british control, the slaves “hoped” they could be freed, woman “hoped” they could vote, a president “hoped’ we could land on the moon. pessimist have no hope,,,the glass is always half empty, and now we have someone that is really giving people real “hope” that something can change in washington, and now there is something wrong with that.
it seems to me that most americans are choosing to be optimistic, and that we do have better days ahead of us,,but there is always gonna be people like trish that just can not grab on to change, hey i know that hope isn’t gonna put any more $ in my pocket, but no polotician will do that! but with obama as our next president, i hope things will be different, in an optimistic way!! >>>>hopemonger<<<<<

It’s interesting to see all the hand wringing, weeping and knashing of teeth from you lefties.
The truth of the matter is there are no good choices in this presidential election. Hillary is a Socialist who if elected will do her damnest to take this country to Euro style socialism ( which I’m sure many of you would love).
Obama, while charismatic and an excellent orator, has as his main positive the ability to say nothing better than any candidate in a long, long time. Without benefit of a telepromter, he is reduced in interviews to just spewing the same old Bush/Cheney hating BS,etc.,etc. In short-no substance and a defininite on the job learner.
McCain would be the lesser of the evils but for sure is no bargain. As a non-evangelical conservative, I will have a difficult time voting for him.
BTW, as a North Carolinian who has watched John Edwards up close and personal, he is a sleazy ambulance chasing trial atty. who did zilch, zip, nada for NC as a one term senator. As a national politician he is a total phony populist pimp who lives in a nearly 30,000 sf mansion just outside of Chapel Hill, NC. Yeah John, let’s take care of all those poor folks!
Finally, the difference between you on the left and us on the right (you mods just wet the finger and stick it up in the air to determine the current winning political winds) is ahem, emotion (left) vs. pragmatism and logic (right).
Fire away..

i am reallt trying to figure out these other democrats,,that say they won’t vote for Obama in the general,,,,because, Mrs. Clintons and Mr. Obama’s agenda’s are the same. it is just that one has already had her shot and plus she is the most investigated canidate running for office. her husbands terms were a total embarsssment to the american people, he lied under oath! while Mr. Obama seems to be very forthright in his campaigning. and he is a breath of fresh air, i am 63 yr. old white woman, i have raised 6 children and i have seen all of them and thier children, be inspired by Mr. Obama, so i have concluded that he can and will take america to a new great chapter!!

I can think of many reasons why a Clinton should not be returned to the White House. And I don’t understand how anyone, especially people like John Glenn, could endorse Hillary. Remember all the pardons that Bill granted? Probably the most prominent one was the FALN group. You can Google FALN, in case you have forgotten about this. Of course, though, if you are a socialist, you will only see the side coming from the socialists.

Don’t ever believe that Hillary wasn’t in on whatever Bill did. The FALN group was granted clemency for the sole purpose of Hillary getting the Hispanic vote for Senator in New York. Afterall, there were well over a million Hispanics in NY.

Hillary Clinton became the second largest recipient in the Senate of health care industry contributions.
“As she runs for re-election to the Senate from New York this year and lays the groundwork for a possible presidential bid in 2008, Mrs. Clinton is receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from doctors, hospitals, drug manufacturers and insurers. Nationwide, she is the No. 2 recipient of donations from the industry, trailing only Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, a member of the Republican leadership.” Raymond Hernandez and Robert Pear, “Once an Enemy, Health Industry Warms to Clinton,” New York Times, July 12, 2006.

Both candidates have qualities we need in a president. Unfortunately for Hillary, Bill’s baggage ruins her chances. It’s not fair, but no way will he stay in the background. We have enough problems without domestic power struggles.

Mrs. Turner, How so? As in, how will he make necessary changes? Are you able to be more specific?
Posted by: irma | February 12, 2008, 9:24 pm 9:24 pm
It is the will of the American People, at least those that have voted in the Democratic Primary that a change in the way our Government is run is needed. Of that, there can be no doubt. Whether, Senator Clinton or Senator Obama can best deliver that change will be the choice of the American people who vote in the Democratic primaries, of this there can be no doubt. Funny thing, when the Will of the American people is allowed to chart the course of America the result has been good, which is the Glory of a Democracy. There are thos among us who would say that we are a Republic, and the will of the people is reposed in the judgement of those who are elected. What we see unfolding is our Democracy asserting itself. We should count our blessings and try to move past the comfort of our bias whatever it may be, to new day in which all men/women are judged by the content of their character.
That’s all I have to say.

WELL i think he will set a different “mind set” in washington.
i believe he will also stop the lobbiest money influence in washington, and his idea about health care reform is the best i have looked at,,from a consumers stand point,,i don’t want to have to worry about my childrens wages being garnished,,,4 of them are just getting out of college with in the next few years, and i just can’t see thier wages being attached with the stundent loans and all. but i really believe that Mr. Obama has something intangible as a leader,, he is inspirational. and people feel good about him. i haven’t seen anything like this since the kenedy’s and they are all american hero’s.

In the past few weeks I have been totally confused. Is it Obama 08 or is it Oprah 08. It’s amazing I haven’t seen Hillary pulling up the big stars to acquire them as her “mouth pieces”. Does Obama need someone else to bring in the votes, that he should be able to get on his on.

Simple, folks:
I’ve never voted for a repub in my life, but if the dems nominate hillary, I’ll be voting for John McCain. The “most divisive figure in American politics” is not what we need now.
Don’t pass it off as demographic stats… I’m a dem from the south who now lives in IA. I would have voted for Ann Richards for pres in a heartbeat. hillary is not right for the US.
Ask yourself: If Bill had not been president, would you have EVER heard of hillary? Now ask: Did Barack get handed his fame, or did it happen because of what HE did?
Now go vote.

Theresa,,listen to yourself,,,have you been paying attention?,,,,,what about the biggest figure in this campaign,,,former “impeached” president william jefferson clinton,,,hmmmmmmm,,,,who has more influences in polotics?
another sweep tonite,,Obama is doing something to america,,,and america is listening,,,,we can’t keep putting the same old people doing the same old thing because we will get the same old results! this isn’t about gender (as many woman would like it to be) it isn’t about black america or white america,,,,it’s about the UNITED states of america!

I am a leftist DEM from NC. John Edwards has been a problem child for Kerry and now Obama, and this nation for a while now. When he won his senate seat in our state, the first thing he did was plow money into IOWA, buying them computers, to help his last run for PRECEDENT. Then he forced Kerry to play HAPPY FACE in the face of ignorant attacks by swiftboaters as this nation picked a national guard shirk over a combat veteran. That vietnam thingie don’t rate big in military annals(sic). Then Edwards cast his senate seat off for lizzy dole to scarf up. I predict he will endorse Clinton and hopefully lose whatever clout or stature he has left. Prayers for his wife, in the meanwhile…Edwards has been sucking up to Erskine Bowles at my alma mater, UNC, and as a lowly BA graduate, i think I will interject myself into that equation. Who you backing, ERSKINE?????

Hilliary is the most qualified democrate for president. Its a dam shame the media is so against her. If she does not get them nomination watch out for Mayor Bloomberg of NYC Save us from Obama Huesain. If not I will be Voting for the first time for a Republican
Posted by: chris | February 13, 2008, 11:23 am 11:23 am
no chris hillary is not the most qualified. it’s a fact ! what she is though,,,,IS THE MOST investigated canidate running for pres. fact! her and willie have broken soo many campaign laws, it’s hard to keep track. fact! ( peter paul just to mention one )
to not vote for someone because of thier name ,,,is about the most imature thing i have read yet. but,,,,i guess one thing that the polls did get right is that hillarys supporters are less educated,,,,,,

Many (here in CA) have said that Edwards’ nod to either candidate would speak VOLUMES about his true character, priorities and motivations. Backing Hillary lays WASTE to John Edwards entire campaign.
Maybe there are drawbacks to an Obama endorsement, but far less popular blowback.
Plus, yes the people of his Pet State (LA) have alredy spoken. How silly the little man will seem then. I feel bad for Edwards supporters. That’s a raw deal in the making.

i agree ken,,,,i am a johnedwards supporter,,,,and i will lose all hope if he backs hillary. alot of us are supporting Obama because the guy is genuine and we like that. i feel that out of everyone that is left,,,,he is the best canidate,,,

Obama’s slogan should be…”Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”
“Yes we can”….what the heck does that mean?

Abraham Lincoln said “the price of freedom is eternol vigilance.” Those words are true forever. Vote for who you trust or don’t trust. Vote for someone , who tells you what you want to hear and takes advantage of you. Or vote for someone ,who even puts his own life on the line to defend your freedom. Your vote is important. This is America.

Obama and McCain are green and unexprience, except for McCain’s military.Obama does not want his patriotism question, took 20 years to find out his preacher, talks much with little or nothing to show for it, has doudle duel citizenship that he still retains, etc.McCain on the other hand put his life on the line for your freedom and mine as others have done before. Why do we defend our freedom in Iraq or Afganistan. Good question. Because America could be next on the list. It was next when Japan attacked Pearl harbur. The true soldier does not war any more than you or I do. But he answers the call if his country needs him. Sorry I can’t say that of Military dodgers.
