Puerto Rico Gov. to back Obama

I am from Puerto Rico, puertoricans will never vote for Obama, not even if The Pope himself endorses Obama.

If the Gov. Acevedo endorses Obama, I think it will not help Obama at all.
Right now in Puerto Rico Gov. Acevedo is in trouble for taking bribes and ilegals contributions. He is being investigated by the Federal Government.
He is considered the worst Gov., in the history of Puerto Rico

I’m from Lajas Puerto Rico, puertoricans are un-like mexican americans.I never beleived this ” Hillary have the Latino vote thing”. Mexicans, Cubans, Puertoricans all Latinos but different political agendas. Put us all in the same room and you will find out fast.Our political issues are way different. Puerto Rico will go Obama I’m 100% sure.

In last post I meant that the Territory of Puerto Rico does not vote for President as far as Electoral.

This is not good news for Obama. I live in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and Gov. Anibal Acevedo is currently under investigation by the US Department of Justice. A grand jury is reviewing his case and he’s probably going to jail very soon. In a different case, Governor Acevedo received $20,000 in campaign funds on his personal bank account and when he was told to repay that money he used funds from his party to return the money instead of paying the money he received in his bank account. Obama should have made his homework first before asking Anibal to endorse him. After Gov. Acevedo Vila’s endorsement, I can say that Puerto Rico is Hillary’s territory.

The Puerto Rican people are happy to learn that Barak Obama is ready to end the colonial relationship between both nations; Puerto Rico, as a caribbean and latin american nation needs it’s full sovereignty under a new free association compact or it’s full independence. I congratulate the governor for allowing us puerto ricans to reach our sovereignty and dignity, as a spanish speaking latin nation with more than 500 years of history that we are so proud of.

Pulling Operational troops out of Iraq has nothing to do with International Law, just like unilaterally invading Iraq had nothing to do with International Law.
US troops in Japan and Germany, are not Operational, as in many other countries, remain there by sovereign invitation and permission, and do not prowl the streets arresting and killing (rightly or wrongly) residents.
Please look for a more fitting analogy.
An American President can pull all American troops out of Iraq with immediate effect, and no one can say wether or not such action will have a positive or negative effect on the state of violence in that country.
The present state, with US troops there, arguably, is not exacltly stable. One can also argue that the best people to stabilise an independent sovereign country are its own people, acting on their own!
Perhaps that’s Obama’s view; I think he has a constitutional right to express it without being insulted and called a liar by a commentator who bases his argument on, and with little knowledge of, ‘International Law’.

Taj – Your right as far as the so called international law goes (we are not part of that treaty anyhow) but we do know what will happen – al Qeada and Iran will over run the country and destabilize the region to a point we will be back!
Obama showed his ineptness by even stating we could pull out quick or even soon.
Again Puerto Rico has no electoral votes that count in the general election!

I’m a PR resident and an Obama supporter. Sad to say, but the island will go for Clinton.

I am from Puerto Rico and vote for CLINTON because we need EXPERIENCE to CHANGE OUR Economic crisis.

Anibal Acevedo is just upset at Clinton for not making his federal legal problems go away. He’s the worst governor P.R. has had. He does not represent the Puerto Rican people.

Im Puerto Rican from both Island and Chicago and let me tell you something about the governor of Puerto Rico. All Puerto Rican governor’s at one point or another have been considered the worst. Who cares, as far the the issues and concerns of Puerto Ricans living in Puerto Rico (the island not NY,Chitown, or anywhere else), Obama has made comments that address them which is more then we can say for Clinton, McCain or any presidental hopeful in a long time.
As far as status, im for Idenpendence but I do want Puerto Ricans to make the right choice base on truth, commitment and progress for all on the islands. I dont agree with asking the islanders to vote for status just yet. Puerto Rico was invaded and forcefully pursuded by the the US of A. Now they dont know what to do with us. All I see in PR today is a gentrification process of Gringos and Europeans moving in and Puerto Ricans moving out. That has to do with the lack of US policies and commitment. Puerto Rico is the poorest of all 50 states + 4 other properties of the US of A but the 24th pricest places to live. And dont get me started on lack of resources…. lol Boricuas (non-island born) Wake up!!!! Puerto Rico will no longer belong to us and other history will never be acknowlege if we dont vote to a president that care and will commit to the problems. Vote Obama!!!!

When have Puerto Ricans on the east coast of America have more in common with Mexicans? I grew up in the Bronx a
Jamaican immigrant in an Caribbean immigrant neighborhood. In most places with Caribbean Hispanics have struggled right along with Black immigrants. If garbage did not get picked up in my neighborhood, it did not get picked up in East Harlem. A Black Puerto Rican got Garbage pick up for us all.
We may not live together as much as Cubans and Dominicans in the Southeast but we still eat the same food, dance to the same music and are all not quite as American as other people.
During the Bill Clinton era times were good, schools were skiddied down to bad but the amount of black and brown people in jail increased exponentially.
Obama has a better platform to improve public schools, make the drug laws equal and investing in green jobs in America.She has not said the the government will take back some of the federal responsibility for college financial aid. I am hoping for more efforts towards equal opportunity. Hillary will have to bow to moderate conservatives to win that does not bode well for anyone who was not a citizen U.S. before 1965.
Her husband was President for eight years, he released 4 FLAC “terrorists” that’s it. He did not give to commonwealth of Puerto Rico the right to vote. Has she promised she will?
You may say I am bringing it back to race. Please if people of Puerto Rican heritage can tell me what Hillary has done for Puerto in NY State and I will certainly be open to a discussion.
I am not saying vote for him because he is black, but because he has more plans to make all Americans no matter what their color a better place. Just because we can talk about race doesn’t stop it being the reality for millions of American.

I am a puerto rican born and raised and still living in the island… I don’t know why everybody out there assumes we are all going to go for Hillary… they talk about her as if she can claim all of her husband’s presidency as her own experience…I can not claim my husband’s work experience as my own why should we left her? Was Bill her puppet??… If I vote in this primary I’ll be voting for Obama.

Claiming her spouse’s experience, may not help you Mrs. Clinton. My husband is a musician, I can be a person who enjoys music but cannot become a musician no matter how much I tried.
