Bill Richardson endorses Barack Obama
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson made his endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for president official during a rally in Portland, Oregon Friday.
Appearing side-by-side with Obama, it took Richardson only thirteen words into his speech to mention Obama’s speech on race in Philadelphia this week, one he dubbed “historic.”
“Senator Obama could have given a safer speech. He is, after all, well ahead in the delegate count for our party’s nomination. He could have just waited for the controversy over the deplorable remarks of Reverend Wright to subside, as it surely would have. Instead, Senator Obama showed us once again what kind of leader he is. He spoke to us as adults,” Richardson said.
Watch the VIDEO HERE.
As the nation’s only Hispanic governor, Richardson said he was moved by the speech knowing the struggle of Hispanics in America, “As a Hispanic, I was particularly touched by his words. I have been troubled by the demonization of immigrants, specifically Hispanics, by too many in this country.”
Richardson also cited Obama’s opposition to the Iraq war in 2002, and his intended plan for withdrawal as the foreign policy leadership that he believes America needs.
The governor, who worked in the Clinton administration and has long ties to both Clintons, explained his decision: “My great affection and admiration for Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton will never waver,” but added that Obama is part of the new generation of leadership that can bring the country together, “It is time, however, for Democrats to stop fighting amongst ourselves and to prepare for the tough fight we will face against John McCain in the Fall.”
Calling Obama a friend, Richardson told the story of when, as a presidential candidate on stage with Obama during a democratic debate, he was not paying attention to a question that was asked of him by the moderator. Obama, sitting next to him, an opponent at the time, whispered “Katrina, Katrina” to him, Richardson recalled.
“He could have thrown me under the bus,” Richardson laughed, but said his then-rival backed him up.
Obama accepted Richardson’s endorsement, saying that he couldn’t be more honored to have “the support of one of the great public servants to the United States.”

Rick Santorum's Full Speech at CPAC 2012
As a hispanic the least I can say is that I, along with most of hispanics here in the US, betrayed by Bill Richardson. He’s the same one that suggested not long ago, that he would embrace the voter’s decision of whom they would favor for the presidential nomination. Clearly, his decision was not in benefit of the hundreds of thousands of latinos that supported Hillary Clinton in the voting booth. His endorsement is clearly a personal move and has nothing to do with the voters will and preference.
Richardson’s endorsement DOES NOT represent the will of the majority of hispanics in the United States. The majority of the hispanic community clearly believes in Hillary Clinton’s leadership and should repudiate Richardson’s endorsement to Barack Obama. Neither Barack Obama nor Bill Richardson represent the will of hispanics here in the US.

Richardson is a loser and his endorsement won’t change the fate of the sinking Obama ship. Obama cant have it both ways, he cant denounce his racist pastor and still support him. Americans are not swollowing that one and many call for resignation

We should all come together as democrats and support this historic candidate. Bill Richardson has once again demonstrated a sound judgement and hope that other super delegates will follow. OBAMA ALL THE WAY

So Obama is supposed to be the new generation of Democrats who will bring this country together according to Richardson.
With the civil war that is going on right now between Obama and Hillary, it doesn’t seem like the “new generation” of Democrats can even bring the DEMOCRATS together, much less the country.
… and if Obama shows his unwavering support of a man who says “God Damn America”, it doesn’t look like Obama is going to unite anybody in the future either.

Wow. Crushing blow for Hillary. As a former supporter of Hillary, I have to agree with Richardson in that it’s time for Democrats to stop fussing and support Obama. Hillary really should have dropped out a month ago so hopefully she will do so now.

I knew Richardson was going to support Obama when shortly after dropping out of the race he was on CNN with a Go T. Unfortunately, during the interview, Solidad O’Brien made fun of the fact that Richardson snorted while he laughed, not particularly cool and he was embarassed. In any case, being that he’s a Latino, I wonder why Hillary had the Latino vote while he didn’t….I guess Latino’s vote for candidates over race. As a Latina, I am glad we vote for Hillary.

The only people the pastors remarks are a “topic” to are the media and opponents of Obama.

Why didn’t Mr. Richardson make the endorsement much earlier? Why now? Richardson is probably pressured by the Obama campaign to do it now in order to distract the American people from Obama’s decision to embrace and endorse his white-hating and country-hating pastor for the last 20 years. Anyway, it is quite apparent that Richardson endorses this OVERLY-AMBITIOUS and INEXPERIENCED man with a hidden African-American agenda at this crucial time in order to gain personal political favor.

Posted by: teenc | March 21, 2008, 2:08 pm 2:08 pm
The only reason Richardson is supporting Obama is because Hillary wouldn’t give him the VP position.
Obama, of course, told Richardson that he is one of the top candidates on his list to be VP.
The problem here is that Obama lied to him like he lied to all the American people that he hadn’t heard Wright’s sermons. Bill will soon find out.
Wake up Bill R.

This endorsement at this time is designed by the Obama’s campaign in order to distract the public from the controversy of Obama’s embrace and acceptance of his white-hating and country-hating pastor, Wright for the last 20 years. Does Obama have a hidden agenda against or in favor of a particular race?

This endorsement today was clerly designed to give Obama something good with which to end a horrible two weeks. I have to say that I was disappointed by Richardson’s endorsement. He is the governor of a state that went for Hillary, with a great deal of help from the latino population of New Mexico. Richardson is obviously not in tune with the latino electorate. Richardson certainly did not “respect” the majority of latino voters, and I believe this will work against him. Hillary is the better candidate, she has more experience, she is a hard worker, and she does not give up. These are the attributes I want in my president. Hillary 08!!!!

I see nothing ‘courageous’ about either Barack or Richardson. Barack wants to portray himself as a phoenix, when that is not the case; he wants to portray his pastor as a senile uncle who doesn’t know any better, (whom, by the way has an undergrad degree, two masters degrees, one doctorate ANd eight honorary doctorates), so that is not the case; he wants us to think his white grandma was a racist, which I would bet is not the case; and then he wants to portray me as a ‘typical white person’ when I gave him the benefit and consideration I would give any candidate, regardless of their skin color or religious affiliation. Barack gave the speech on race to stem the tide of realization in this country that people are getting the feel of what he truly is and what his belief system stands for. His wife is proud of this great country for the first time…His paster says God damn America…Barack promised Hope and Change and all we got was another lying politician….Lying about Rezko and property and donations and affiliations and everything else ad nauseum. Barack is not fit to lead this country. If he can’t stand up at some time during 20 years of black national rhetoric and say this is not for me, this is not who I am, how can he show the good judgment to lead this country out of the mire and forward. He can’t do it. He will not win the nom with or without Richardson’s help – who by the way is rumored to be a vp consideration for Barack, so I assume it was politically expedient for him to endorse at this point in time for his own misguided goals. Finally, if Barack does happen to snow enough people to get the nod, there are enough democrats disgusted with him and all this nonsense to go vote McCain, which I will do and I highly recommend it.

I will be voting for Obama. Because you Hillary Clinton crazy people want everyone to hate Obama because of something he did not say but his Pastor said, you think everyone in America is going to follow you? Not me. I stand for myself and speak for myself. You do not own my vote. NOW WHAT?
Posted by: Karen | March 21, 2008, 2:22 pm 2:22 pm
I really don’t get what people do not understand. It is not possible for Clinton to surpass Obama in the popular vote count. If the superdelagates want to unite the party, then they must go with the popular vote. Therefore, Obama will win the nomination, and rightly so. He is by far the best candidate. Hilary always talks about her accomplishments in the White House (which are really Bill’s accomplishments) but never takes blame for everything that went wrong. She is manipulative, and only cares about herself. If by some rare chance she did win the nomination, there is no way she would win the Presidency. All of Obama’s supporters, myself included, would vote for McCain. So, she really needs to drop out now so Obama can soley focus on beating McCain in November!

Don’t get me wrong, I like Richardson – he’s an accomplished and I think, sincere man. On the other hand, he never got more than about 4% of the votes – so does anyone care what he thinks or who he endorses? He dropped out because not enough people cared to listen to him. I actually liked his stance on most issues and appreciated his candor.

Obama is playing the soft, well spoken, your only choice democratic candidate game. Too bad Richardson has teamed up with this guy. Hillary has brought together and a similar number of people vote for her. Why is Obama having a popular vote total and delegate total close to Clinton’s such an achievement for him and not for her? They are bascially tied. Why does he get credit for that? He has brought together as many people as her. Why does he keep getting to say sorry…sorry for the Wright, sorry for Rezko, sorry for saying there was not a meeting with the Canadians, sorry for Samantha Power..and why people are ok with it.

The Obama haters are really funny when they can’t even keep their attacks consistent. First they insist that Obama disown his pastor and friend because of some comments that only they perceive as racist. Then they criticize Obama for “throwing his grandmother under a bus” (whatever that means) for criticizing her racist rhetoric. I thought that was what you wanted him to do? Make up your mind!!!
Posted by: jock59801 | March 21, 2008, 2:38 pm 2:38 pm
Kudos to Gov. Richardson. Obama’s elected delegate lead means that he almost certainly will win the nomination. A few more key super delegates need to follow in Gov. Richardson’s footsteps by endorsing Obama to signal that the race is over and his Democratic opponents should put away “the kitchen sink”. The party can then work to heal its wounds and get focused on the Presidential election. Obama will be a compelling presidential candidate and a great president!

The time has come to decide if we THE PEOPLE want to really change the direction of our nation.
, or do we need to keep this family fight between us going for a longer period
? While am sure Hillary would make a terrific president.
Its time to face the fact that for our country’s sake we need to stop this primary election and once again come together as a country not just a party. My comment is not just for democrats but for all those of us
That are part of this UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Our country will need all of us to change its direction. If we don’t come together the same people that have govern up to now will keep us in the same direction…Look the war was a lie. We Americans were lie to! Was the war for oil?? Who knows does not matter how or why just that it has to end….Obama has pledged to end it! In a responsible manner that’s the best alternative of all the candidates on the table. I have to wonder about his mother’s motives to go to America, give birth, then return to her native country of Mexico. His father then sent him to boarding school in Mass after age 13.
I also have to wonder about Obama’s motives. From Obama’s book: “Dreams From My Father” in which he states “The White man will never reconcile with the Black man until we become brothers in Islam”, and, “I have a deep aversion to my Mother’s race”, and, “The person I most admire is my half-brother – he converted to Islam”.
He and Obama are two peas in a pod. Both profess to be something they are not and both are unelectable.

Fair enough, Bill Richardson.
A majority of the voters in New Mexico support Senator Hillary Clinton, and you endorse Barak Obama.
Doesn’t that go against the idea that superdelegates are supposed to represent the will of their voters?
Perhaps Bill Richardson feels that the Ted Kennedy/John Kerry abandonment of their voters justifies his behavior.
Or, perhaps we all need to step back and consider the source of the endorsement.
On more than one occasion, Bill Richardson has faced criticism as to whether his personal conduct can withstand public scrutiny.
Specifically, Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico, Diane Denish, told reporters from the Albuquerque Journal that she avoids standing or sitting near Richardson because of his physical manner which she describes as “annoying.”
Dennison said Bill Richardson “pinches my neck. He touches my hip, my thigh, sort of the side of my leg.”
Governor Richardson calls any suggestion questioning the appropriateness of his behavior as “mean spirited.”
Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and Ralph Nader probably won’t be “mean spirited, but I doubt whether they will lose any sleep over the Richardson endorsement.

Clearly, Obama has promised Richardson something he values more than friendship… The VP slot or his choice of cabinet positions, no doubt. It certainly wasn’t the deliriously lame speech Obama delivered. Thankfully, most Hispanic voters have already made their choice, Hillary Clinton.

Obama: “I do not want to see research that is involved in trying to tear people down personally. If find out that somebody is doing that, they will be fired.”
His campaign has gone all out negative with a series of PERSONAL attacks on Clinton. Just words, Mr. Obama?
He is not a new generation of politics–he’s the same deal as everyone else. Glad to see he’s checked into the world of reality finally.

It is funny when some people endorsed obama, they all said he has right leadership, judgment and inspiration for people:
The fact is:
1. Leadership: NO because he has not been in any public leader position yet;
2. Judgment: good judgment on house market; anythng else, wrong or unknown
3. Inspiration: excellent – the same as his mentor Pastor Wright..
Anything else is just dulplication….

I forgot to mention the biggest flip flopper of all John Kerry who also thinks that Obama is the messiah that America needs and the one that “because he is black the Muslims, Egyptians, Arabs will listening to”
Interesting to say the least that all the guys supporting Obama now – the Candidate of Change” are the same OLD establishment that has been in Washington Dc for many years and the same corrupted Illinois machine.

Today soon to former governor Bill Richardson endorses Obama against the will of the people in his own state. He is now disowned in the Hispanic community.

Honesty. It’s only a word today. Several times over the campaign Obama said that it was important that the superdeligates vote the way of the people of their state. Then they romanced Kennedy (I agree he can be a whore) to rally upcoming states on their behalf even though according to their own admission he should have support Clinton like the people of his state. Now it’s Richardson who along with Obama campaigned that superdeligates should vote the way of their state then moved beside Obama even though his state clearly supported Clinton. Now the story has changed and they both say the superdeligates should vote the way of the majority. Neither are honest nor brave. Flip Flop.

Time for Hillary to throw in the towel. She can’t get the votes or delegates she needs. Her candidacy has been bad for the Democratic party and bad for America. Sorry Hill, maybe in 2016 you can be Richardson’s VP.

I like Obama – despite what many of you have to say. Anything is better than McCain and Hillary is old news.
I am not particularly fond of Richardson, but I think he made the right choice to endorse Obama.
For you Latinos who think Hillary will care about you – you are right! She cares about your vote. That’s all!

jock59801: you miss the point. The fact is his pastor did make racist comments. He should have treated him like he did his own Grandmother. Both made racist comments and both should have been called out and disowned. But the coward chose his racist pastor over his own Grandmother. That is what is meant by throwing her under the bus. He condemed her to save his own skin and his pastors. Obama is full of double standards. He says whatever helps him and whatever people want to hear. He is playing the race card and I for one will not vote for a man full of hate.

Let the Veepstakes begin… right now, somewhere, Edwards is being wooed by the Clintons.
Obama/Richardson – interesting combo. The GOP will have to work hard against that one. McCain will try and divide the Hispanic vote and get the disaffected Hillary vote. The 527s will aim their campaign to middle class, working class whites, and Asians… that will get ugly. Right-Wing vs. Wright-Wing!
And unless Clinton concedes… you still have a Convention fight on your hands… unless of course Obama chooses Hillary as Veep. Either way – still very do-able!

It is soo SAD to read the replies on this blog. We can not see that we are our own worst enemies. If we don’t change, I don’t blame the rest of the world for sitting back, shaking their heads and laughing as our whole economy(which they are buying bit by bit) and what used to be “admired” society, goes up in flames. God has not Dammed America–”we the people” have. It is soo SAD. We need to wake up !!

Bill Richardson supporting Obama is like Sheila Jackson-Lee from TX supporting Hillary Clinton, with their constituents going in opposite directions.
Why now? Why no before the Texas primary? Why is Richardson endorsing Obama in Oregon?
May be the wound to the Barack Obama’s “united” campaign message is worst than the published polls are telling the voters and Obama camp knows it.
Bill Richardson endorsing Obama will have similar effect to Hispanics, than Ted Kennedy and John Kerry endorsements had to the voters of MA.

Jajaja — I forgot to mention that I don’t care what color, race, religion or ethnic background someone is. I find our differences and similarities interesting. For instance, I recently found out that the ancient Hebrew word for God is ‘Yawea’ which is very close the one of the Cherokee words for God. I have spent considerable time pondering it.

So Bill Richardson is a liar just like Obama…who says that the Super D’s should vote the way their states do….well, Richardson really set up his state. I see this endorsement turning what Latino vote Obama had to Clinton….as some have said here, Richardson is a liar, cheater, basically a snake just like Obama. Obama must have promised him something…this endorsement is definitely for personal gain. It’s ok, many Super D’s are beginning to recant their support of Obama……his true “color” that of a chamillion are beginning to show. It’s sad that people call him the “Messiah”, the “Savior” of the world. Even on lady in my city said when she shook his hand that she was ‘touched by the Messiah’….now that is scary! He knows his campaign is dwindling, so he just needs to bow out and support Hillary…she will win the nomination anyway. McCain and the GOP’s actually want this idiot Obama to win, because he would be easily defeated in November….Hillary would be a BIG challenge. Give it up Obama…you’re a loser…again, go back to your “cultist” church and support your quack pastor like you have for the last 20 years! American doesn’t want you……red, white, black, yellow, whatever color you are this week…forget it, you’re a loser and America knows this!

I’m Hispanic and I feel betrayed by Bill Richardson. He is entitled to choose the candidate of his choice but I think that he is just as ‘sneaky’ as Obama. I wonder what’s in store for him? You were supposed to represent us … you should learn a thing or two from the African-American group.

I think the Clinton political machine has been more or less playing nice with Obama, perhaps not to the high standard that Obama set for his campaign (that’s his own d@mn fault). He has made it blatantly obvious that anything goes now and I hope she goes for the jugular. She should really show him the full force of 35 years of experience.
If they are going to continue to claim that “she will say or do anything to win” then let her make good on that — we wouldn’t want to call them liars now would we?

TURNS OUT THAT WHAT I THOUGHT IN THE BEGINNING IS TRUE; THESE FORMER DEMOCRAT CANDIDATES DO STILL BELONG TO THE ALL BOYS CLUB. I KEEP HEARING A LOT OF WHINING FROM OBAMA SUPPORTERS ABOUT SUPER-DELEGATES AND WHO THEY SHOULD SUPPORT; BUT IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN THE MARJORITY OF THE VOTERS IN MASSACHUSETTS, NEW JERSEY, AND NEW MEXICO VOTED IN FAVOR OF HRC. USING THE REASONING OF THE WHINERS, SHOULDN’T THESE ELECTED OFFICIALS THROW THEIR SUPPORT BEHIND SENATOR CLINTON? I WILL BE SOOOO GLAD WHEN THIS IS OVER… I DON’T THINK I CAN SURVIVE ANOTHER UNITER RUNNING FOR OFFICE IN THIS COUNTRY. I JUST WISH ALL OF US ESPECIALLY THOSE RUNNING FOR OFFICE WOULD FOCUS ON THE ISSUES: THE LOUSY ECONONY, HEALTH CARE/LACK THEREOF FOR ALL AMERICANS; RISING ENERGY AND FOOD PRICES, FAILING SCHOOLS, CRUMBLING INFRASTRUCTURE, ETC… GET REAL FOLKS!! MattOhio – very true but even more telling is the state of the area in Chicago he represented as state senator. He did nothing I have found to improve conditions or bring people in that community together. It seems he feels a sense of entitlement is due him just as Wright seems to preach… the white man owes the black man. Bush’s strategy of united the country was to unite everyone behind a common enemy. Very effective for a while. What I am seeing here is a parallel – he is trying to unite non-whites behind a common enemy called white people. His book clearly shows actual statements about his personal feelings about white people. His recent statements about typical white people show us he still harbors resentment. A true leader said “Unity for the sake of unity is not my goal. I want to unify the country around meeting big goals.” That leader is Senator Clinton. She clearly set goals that benefit all Americans in all sectors of our society. Obama created a racial rift where none existed (per the data) for his own political gain.

List all the hate speeches, or anything to do with hate in Obama’s speehes he has uttered since standing for persidency or even in his books he has written. Absolutely none, except HOPE, UNITY, GOING FORWARD for the sake of our children and grandchildren. Rev Wright must have thought him well in the last 20 years from the pulpit and has not corrupted Obama as you claim.
I urge you to examine your own life as from the garbage you write, your really help.

Both Obama and Richardson claim Obama opposed the Iraq war from the start. But remember, in this country most whites supported the war while most blacks opposed it when the war began. Obama’s stance on the war just tells us that he makes his judgment only based on racial factor. He believes the racial stance consideration should be above this nation’s ultimate interest.
I also opposed the Iraq war in the beginning. But I can’t say I have a better judgment than Hillary Clinton’s if I run the president bid. I am neither white nor black.

For all the Latinos who think Hillary will look out for your best interest, think about how she turned on the African American community. She will only look out for her own interest. Is there really resentment amongst the hispanic community against African American? If so, why? What did they do to you guys to make you hate them so.

Can we please see Obama’s 2007 tax returns? Where are they? Where is the Reverend Wright? Why has the TUCC web page been changed to hide their true beliefs? Why is Gov. Richardson going against the votes of his state? Because character doesn’t matter, oops, it does matter if you are Hillary Clinton. That stabbing feeling in Bill and Hillary’s back today is the thanks for the positions, the presige, the opportunities and memories from Gov. no character Bill.

We need to get this over with. The vitriol that is being spewed on this and other blogs is getting worse and worse.
How can you vilify somebody like Richardson just because he endorsed your candidate’s opponent? I don’t spend that much time online at these blogs, but I can’t recall any Obama supporters attacking people who endorse Hillary. It seems so childish. Hillary would certainly have loved to have this endorsement; it’s undisputed that she and Bill and other campaign peopld courted Richardson very actively to persuade him to endorse her.
As an Obama supporter, my initial reaction was that it would have been nice if this endorsement had come before NM or TX, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this week, in the wake of the Wright controversy, is a very good time. He’s basically saying, “I’m an elected official and a superdelegate, and I don’t think this (the Rev. Wright mess) is a deal breaker.”
And, BTW, Hillary won NM by about 2,000 votes — which, if one applies the logic the Clinton campaign is applying to Obama’s delegate and popular-vote lead, is “a tie.”
Posted by: jac13 | March 21, 2008, 3:25 pm 3:25 pm
It is so funny listening to Obama supporters saying Clinton should have dropped out a month ago!
How the delegate count can never put her over the top, yet it can!
How they conform to a guy who puts a spin into everything that goes against him from Rezko to Wright to Ayers and is simply a standard pass the buck politician who brings nothing but words and even his own words end up being lies as proven from NAFTA-gate to Wright!
But that is ok, because he threw race in everyones face to block the media from doing their job!
Shame how Clinton never used womens rights issues to do the same, guess on candidate has some class and one is well just a want to be “King of the World” on dirty Chicago politics!
As for Richardson supporting Obama, big deal, rather have Clintons endorsement by Murtha over Richardson any day of the week! Now we await the next goof up by the Obama Campaign, who will put their foot in their mouth this time, Kerry again or will it be Michelle in another racially bias way….stay tuned folks, will be fun, especially if ever Obama the candidate of chanting transparency produces his schedules and taxes going back to his State Seante days and we see what Rezok really bought from all his dirty money he provided the do nothing politician that ignored freezing tenants andleft the chair empty on the NATO oversight Committee! Great job Obama, proving empty actions fill empty minds!

Gov.Richardson is representing the choice of the younger, independent, unbiased, educated Hispanics: that is why he is supporting Sen.Obama and we are very proud of that. We respect the opponent’s supporters views but Gov. Richardson deserves everybody’s respect!

Rasmussen, previously projecting Obama with a strong lead has now issued a new poll with Obama and Clinton in a statistical tie. The trend is clear… Obama is losing support nationally. Conservative pollsters at FOX now show Clinton would beat McCain nationally. State polls are showing Obama is losing support in states he previously won. Apparently the Richardson endorsement is not helping Obama.

You should urge Obama to remove the Missouri from his “win” column then based on this logic. Not a chance in h*ll he’d concede to that. Nice try though.
In this election, a win is a win. 50+1 is what matters most. Obama has made that very clear.

Bill Richardson is an opportunist, and not a particularly smart one. He has one agenda, to ride Obama’s shirt tails. He knows he’s lost the hispanic vote in his home state. He doesn’t mind watching football with Bill, but doesn’t want to work for Hill (a woman) so there’s nowhere else to go…

The funny thing about the ability to post is that it shows a side of human behavior. People (whether you be latino, white, black, or purple) will throw a comment out there when what you read strikes you as an outrage.
It’s the people who agree with what they read that nod and think to themselves “yeah, that’s pretty much how it is!” that don’t feel the need to repudiate what was written.
For every person on here blasting Richardson and Obama, there are at least two more who applaud them.
Just something to think about… ;)

As a Latina, I have been discriminated against, mainly by white women in the work force. Though they hire me and I have performed my job duties as required, they always felt threatened. Anyway, the big difference between latinos and blacks is that we don’t cry everytime there is an issue. We try to handle it on our own. The point I’m trying to make is that there is a major problem in this country. I have black and white friends as well as latino friends, but we have all dogged each others race. It’s not race or the color of your skin, it’s the “class” that people are in. There is trash in every race!!! I know that people are going to scream about this, but perhaps dealing with and communicating with those over seas that hate us so much is the one thing we can do to mend the hate that is all over the world. Yes, we can’t force others to stop hating a certain race, but to be strong and show the world that we as a nation can unite could be a start. If the world sees that we have minorities in power, then perhaps they could start to understand and not hate this country so much. There has always been a “white” president and to the rest of the world, they can not be trusted. That’s all they know right now. To say that this country has no problem is just ignorant. We are more divided than people in Iraq. The only difference is that we don’t blow each other up as much as they do. We are American’s and we should act as American’s. This is what our nation has bled for in both wars and especially in the civil war!! I know that it will be hard to accept and I personally don’t like Obama. Everyone has some fault and are not perfect. EVERYONE!!! Yes Obama’s pastor is a jerk, but I think he is saying the things that we’ve all said at the water coolers at work or to our own families. We’ve all said that this country isn’t truthful. Look what we did as a nation when JFK got shot. We blamed the govt. and still do.. see, that’s what Wright has done. Just step back and think for a moment. We all hate Bush for not continuing to go after Bin Ladin. We to are guilty of condenming our own govt. It’s only natural. Come on people how much worse can it get. The man only has four years. If we don’t like how he’s doing the job, we wont re-elect him. We re-elected Bush and that was a bigger mistake. Obama can’t tie his own shoes without the House or Senate. There is a process and if he’s there to harm this country, we will impeach him. This is the same thing when blacks were about to be given civil rights.. harmony was there until then..hate broke out and then the storm calmed down and we delt with it. The same is happening here. People are so afraid of change and anything different. I’ll admit that I am as well. The reason we are feeling like this is because Bush has crippled this nation so bad that we don’t trust each other anymore. Will another 911 have to happen to pull us together again??!!!! NO. Remember when that happened, we forgot about our bigotry and fought as a nation against those who harmed us. I don’t know if Hillary will make a difference or not?? McCain is the same old stuff. If we don’t want that then we need to pull ourselves together and vote for either Obama or Hillary.

Bill Richardson has been described as
“a Democrat’s Democrat.” He has a long, and very distinguished career as an American statesman. His endorsement of Barack Obama is almost as significant for its political courage–he has worked very closely with the Clintons in the past–as is the candidacy of Sen. Obama himself, a world class leader for the 21st Century. This is, indeed, a coveted endorsement from America’s premier ambassador of good will, Bill Richardson.

Oh what deal did they cut. The Clinton campaign had staed to let the Wright thing run it’s course and not get in it. So then what happens? On Thursday night, the Obama campaign, to shift the spotlight to the Clintons, provided The New York Times with a picture of Mr. Wright and President Bill Clinton at the White House in 1998 at a breakfast meeting with religious leaders hours before the Starr report on the Monica Lewinsky scandal was made public.
Oh yea, courage we can count on from Obama. That was a pretty slimy move I think.

I keep hearing complaints about superdelegates (like Richardson) going against the will of their constituents.
It seems if Obama is ahead in the delegate count AND the popular vote and all superdelegates voted in step with their constituents, then it would all be over with Obama winning.
The only way Hillary has a chance is if a large number of superdelegates DON’T vote with their constituents. Which is precisely what she is trying to convince superdelegates to do.
Does anybody else here see the hypocrisy?

There are two possible for Richardson endorsement at this moment in the primary
1) BAD- Richardson hold out for the VP ticket. At this moment, he know that it will not happened with Clinton, like it or not if Clinton win, she still have to take Obama as VP.
2) GOOD- He is the true party loyalist. From what I heard, everyone love Richardson. The party insider put the pressure on him to limit the damage in the general election.
I have too much respect for him, so I believe the second option. However, the fact won’t change. I will not for Obama as the top ticket. I will go to McCain. I hate the Republican, but still have respect to McCain.
It is the Democrat insider choice. They can either swallow their pride, admit their mistake and fix the situation, if not this is a free country.
Without the Clinton/Obama ticket the Democrat will lose the general election. The party insiders will be accountable,a nd a revolve will take place. There is no place for them to hide once they loose the general election.
Kerry, Kenedy, John Louis , Pelosi. People know who behind Obama support. They will try to blame it on Clinton, but it will not fly. They try to support a rookie candidate without even do a complete research on the candidate.
The media will be accountable too. They havn’t do their job. No wonder why newspaper sale keep going down.
As for me, I feel comforable to vote for McCain. I am much rather have the Democrat on the White House, but not for someone, who I don’t respect and trust.

To suggest that an anti-American person would run for president is about the same as suggesting that Pat Robertson would try to become president of the Human Rights Campaign….
In other words, ridiculous

Richardson is a betrayer, he betrayed to Clinton, and betrayed to Hispanic community. Fortunatly he is out of the race.
That is only his personal move. He is too near sighted.
I can tell some people who are not tenacious, they just want to see things finish ealy, don’t care the country or the party’s future, they give up easily.

I am a white man who has worked in an 98% African-American community….and I thought his speech was dead on…about both white AND black people.
Whether we admit it or not, there IS a history of oppression and resentment….just as there is also a legacy of white fear.
It doesn’t make someone racist to point those realities out.

Friends don’t do something like what Richardson did to Hillary. He is a politician first and Obama has promised him something he really wanted. I guess Richardson and Obama are kindred spirits in that words easily flow from their mouths, whether they are true or not.

As an independent Hispanic voter, Bill Richardson’s endorsement doesn’t change my mind or others to back up Obama. I’ve been watching Univision Television and reporters have asked Hillary voters if this endorsement changes their mind to get behind Obama and there answer is has been no. Ted Kennedy & John Kerry’s endorsement for Obama didn’t change the minds of Massachusetts where Hillary won. Endorsements are not important too many voters. Obama is a questionable candidate.

Gerry,
THANK YOU for telling it like it is.
HATE, HATE, HATE is all they have perfected, these Clintonites.
She was DISHONEST about NAFTA to OHIOANS and basically stole the state based on lies – and they don’t even challenge their bigotted brains ‘why she’s lying in their faces’.
Unbelievable….

We must remember that the African-American community is not monolithic.
There are black people who represent nearly every strand of political thought in this country. Rev. Wright represents some of that…but NOT all of it.
Posted by: Blake | March 21, 2008, 4:27 pm 4:27 pm
Gerry, Those fools are so ingnorant but they can not stop the will of God. What if McCain picked a black VP and somehow fall over because of his old age, they will still be stuck with a black President. It’s so sad how racist some people are and to suggest Barack is racist is foolish. Barack can’t be racist against himself.

I am from NM and Richardson has finally shown me that I need to change political parties…democrats appear, over and over to be extremely disloyal to one another within the Party. Richardson is not for the PARTY…he is in it for what he can get out of it, period. Being a well educated Hispanic woman over 40 yrs old, I know now that the democratic party will never allow a woman to be President…so I need a new Party that is more progressive than this one has proven to be. I plan to write-in Hillary’s name for President, if allowed. If not allowed, I will vote for all democratic positions, except for the President position and hope to give the House and Senate a majority so they can fight off Republican McCain issues when he becomes President. Best I can do at this stage. I invite others to do the same if you can’t stomach voting for Obama, but feel you need a say in the elections.

MBW: A president of the United States is also referred to the leader of the free world. His church congregation has signed a pact to have a “Non Negotiable contract with Africa”. This alone should scare the daylights for anyone. I thought that people were naive when they picked GWB. This is a thousand times worse. Here we have a man who is going to be president who refuses to openly support the United States but has people believing that he can be a great president. INCREDIBLE — only in the USA

Bill Richardson endorses a fellow democrat and Hillary supporters call him a traitor, a liar, and making secret deals??
This is what scares on-the-fence voters about another Clinton administration.
The “us vs. the them” bunker mentality.
All out political warfare, even when the “them” is fellow democrats.

All of the Obama supporters who keep bringing up the issue of race in this campaign as a central issue are making a big mistake for your candidate. So keep doing it and continuing to anger more and more of those who don’t presently support your candidate. You don’t seem to understand that people have other reasons for not supporting Obama and yet you want to make race the key issue. You’ll just make them more united against Obama.

Bill Richardson calls Obama “a once-in-a-life-time-leader.” Based on what? His long legislative record, his taking his college team to an NCAA title, his great military career, his outstanding business success? What am I missing, his resume’ seems a bit sparse doesn’t it? As far as I can tell he hasn’t led any organization to anything, but what do I know, I’m just a typical white man. He sure can talk perddie though caint he?

Voter – There is nobody running for president who “refuses to openly support the United States.” Why would such a person even want to run for president?
And I really don’t think the POTUS could be considered the “leader of the free world” any more. Bush pretty much killed that idea as far as the rest of the free world is concerned.

Nothing is more scarier than having our US military salute someone who has been listening to hate sermons for 20+ years. If Obama had been in some inocuous job that would have been different. But, he was a community organizer, lawyer, state senator and then US senator. Day after day he listened to Wright and not a single word in defense of our Country. How can we stand to see our military salute someone like this??

This is another BIG BLOW to the Fox news media drama and their friends:
Its time to turn the page. with President – BARACK OBAMA
I am a 36 year old white guy and I think that this is significant in that, despite the controversy over Jeremiah Wright, the support for Barack Obama keeps on growing. I think that anyone with any sense at all knows that Barack Obama can’t be held responsible for what his pastor says. Barack Obama is his own man with his own ideas that differ from that of his pastor and everyone including Bill Richardson knows that. Even Bill Clinton was seen shaking hands with Jeremiah Wright. That doesn’t mean that the Clintons believe what Wright believes. I know what Wright said and I disagree with him, but I also know what Barack Obama has said and I believe Barack Obama when he says that he wants to unite us and take us away from the politics of old and into a bright new future. Barack Obama has managed to turn every negative campaign tactic used against him into something postive. He has risen above the political machine and I am glad to now have Bill Richardson in Barack Obama’s corner. It’s time for all of Barack’s detractors to get over it and accept that Barack Obama is going to be the nominee and the best choice for president.
God bless America
God bless Barack Obama.

If you truely love this country, you would and will vote for OBAMA. My family from Taiwan wishes to have someone like OBAMA to vote for ! We are very lucky to have him ! Obama was born year of OX with the most distinctive leadership style. On the other side, Hillary was born year of BOAR with greedy charactor. Hillary Promises to Help Puerto Ricans Decide on Statehood or Independence!
Hillary says “I would vigorously advance plans that would enable Puerto Rico to decide if it wants to remain a commonwealth or become a U.S. state or an independent nation.”
Puerto Rico has been a commonwealth since 1952. Its residents are almost equally divided on whether it should change its status:
Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens but cannot vote for president, and their representation in Congress is restricted to a single nonvoting member. National party conventions provide islanders a rare chance to have a direct say in Washington.
Obama hasn’t done nothing or even cared! He’ll care when he wants the votes from Puerto Rico.
Just like the African Americans are so united, we the Hispanic will unit together. We voted for Hillary and will vote for Hillary. If Hillary is not the nomonee, we will vote for McCain. It’s a guarantee!

I’ll say it again…Bill Richardson is the biggest EMPTY suit in the history of mankind! Look up “empty suit” in the dictionary and you’ll see Richardson’s face.
This “so called” former Energy Secretary had the charge and duty to protect our nuclear secrets at Los Alamos and by virtue of his complete lack of due diligence allowed TOP SECRET information to be leaked to the Chinese via his careless and incompetent oversight. In other cases, Clinton helped direct Hsu’s money to influential politicians who have yet to endorse her but hail from key presidential primary states. Clinton raised at least $6,000 from Hsu and his network last year for Governor John Lynch of New Hampshire, according to Lynch aides. Lynch has no plans to endorse anyone before the state’s crucial January primary, aides said.
And at least some of the $17,000 that Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan collected from Hsu and his associates in 2005 and 2006 stems from a Nov. 29, 2005, fund-raising reception for her hosted by Steven Rattner, a New York investment firm executive and major Clinton donor seen as a candidate for US Treasury secretary if Clinton wins. Granholm’s office said she has not made an endorsement decision.Continued

And in February, when former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack ended his own White House bid, he was about $450,000 in the red. A month after dropping out, Vilsack endorsed Clinton, and Clinton agreed to help him retire his debts. (Both insisted there was no quid pro quo.)
Over the next few months, some of Clinton’s biggest fund-raisers gave Vilsack checks, including Hsu, who kicked in the maximum allowable contribution, $2,300, on May 3 after attending an event organized by Clinton’s campaign, Newsweek reported this month. An associate of Hsu’s, Paul Su, chipped in $1,000 on the same day

Do you speak for “most hispanics in the us”? You can categorically state how every hispanic is feeling. Do you think you have a better view on what kind of person Hillary is or Barack Obama is than Bill Richardson. You are like the guy in the centerfield bleachers complaining that the umpire two feet away from the plate missed a strike call. Bill Richardson clearly knows Hillary (and Bill Clinton) extremely well, and yet decided to endorse her opponent. Don’t you think he has a reason? It seems to me that the majority of Clinton supporters make angry, bitter, backstabbing, or condescending remarks about her opponent. On the other hand, the majority of Obama supporters are are supporting him rather than making negative remarks about his opponent. This is a race between two democrats, Not an election between two opponents. Strange but true.

It is mathematically impossible for her to win more pledged delegates, to win more popular vote, and more states…does she really think going in to the convention having lost all of these, that the powers to be are just going to say, well sorry mr. obama but hillary is our nominee. How refreshing. Instead of being so darn defensive, why dont we take a long hard look at ourselves and and vote for this man who is honest and genuine. Governor Richardson fought alongside both candidates and chose Obama. P.S: the comment that says Rezko has ties with terrorists, duh, stop the ignorant lies, the man did wrong stuff but that doesn’t mean we have to frame him for other stuff, this all sound to me like the voices that came out and said that Saddam Hussein had links with terrorists, and after the war, appeared to have no terrorism links, it was one of many lies to go to war, so please stop making out stuff that is not true, it hurts people badly.
