Fox News Starts “The Obama Watch”

On Sunday, Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace started "The Obama Watch" counting down the days, hours, minutes since Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told him he’d come on the show, according to Wallace, and has yet to live up to that promise.

Since Obama is running to be president of the whole United States and has made a point of condemning pundits slicing and dicing the US into red states and blue states, going on FNC is entirely in keeping with his message of outreach.

Yet on the other hand let us recall the context.

You have the Fox & Friends spreading of the false madrassa story. (Remember that? Watch HERE or read HERE.)

And now THIS TODAY, from a prestigious Fox News Sunday contributor, likely doesn’t help either.

Also recall there was that Democratic boycott of the Fox News debate last year…An official for the campaign of former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC, had said "there’s just no reason for Democrats to give Fox a platform to advance the right-wing agenda while pretending they’re objective."

Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes criticized Edwards at a Radio and Television News Directors Foundation dinner in Washington, saying "Pressure groups are forcing candidates to conclude that the best strategy for journalists is divide and conquer, to only appear on those networks and venues that give them favorable coverage," adding that any candidate "who cannot answer direct, simple, even tough questions from any journalist runs a real risk of losing the voters."

But in that same address, Ailes joked about the similarity of Obama’s name with that of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, saying, "It’s true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don’t know if it’s true President Bush called [Pakistan President Pervez] Musharraf and said, ‘Why can’t we catch this guy?’ "

What do you think?

What is the Fox News Network?
Faux News.
Might as well read the National Enquirer.

You will never see Barack on that racist hype so called news network. KILL THAT FOX…

Posted by: Lawrence | March 17, 2008, 11:19 am 11:19 am

Guess if Senator Obama wants to reach the largest audience FOX is the answer.

Posted by: flyover | March 17, 2008, 11:25 am 11:25 am

Fox news has actually been cited by several quantifiable studeis as having the least bias in this nomination.
Says something about other news outlets, doesn’t it.
Obama wont go on Fox because they don’t bow down and worship and cow every time he cracks his racism whip, him like every other news media outlet.

Posted by: s.b. | March 17, 2008, 11:31 am 11:31 am

Sorry, Fox has had the least biased, aka the most journalistically neutral coverage of this nomination.

The world will be much safer because Hilary Clinton or John McCain voted for the War in Iraq do you remember? We’re fighting in Afghanistan, Irag, North Korea (Mini Dictator problems), China Exports a huge trade deficit and China’s Military growing problems, Middle East problems, a very weak dollar, US Military at a braking point, and the world hate us.

Maybe FOX can report about the lies being told about Obama’s church. Like, the “reporter” who says he was there on July 22, when in fact he was on his way to a campaign appearance.
Of course, lies don’t matter to Republicans. Maybe FOX can report about how Kristol needs to retract his NYT column?
I’m guessing the Obama hater crowd here didn’t bother to check their facts either. No surprise.

Posted by: Tungsten | March 17, 2008, 11:37 am 11:37 am

Obama is such a tough person, that he can not handle Fox news, even if it was Right-winged, how in the world is he going to handle our enemies?
Obama, wants to hide his anti-American views, his hatred for this country. You can tell a lot about someone by the company he keeps.
Now the Republicans went on the move-on.org channel MSNBC, but yet the libs can not go on Fox. Even Hilary now is saying Fox is the only channel that gave fair coverage. (ABC I think is fair also)
I also find it interesting when the medias baby Obama gets caught being a racist, the media says that this is not an issue and we should concentrate on the issues, but yet they go out of their way to bring up lies against the Republicans. Well this is an issue, does America want a Racist who is friends with a Terrorist as President?

Posted by: spock | March 17, 2008, 11:38 am 11:38 am

Sen Obama should appear on ALL of the news networks… which doesn’t include Faux News which is blatantly a wing of the Republican Party. People are starting to catch on to the Faux News agenda which is why its ratings are going down. It’s about time!

WHY IS ABC REPORTING ON FOX NEWS.. DO YOU GUYS OWN FOX??

Posted by: Lawrence | March 17, 2008, 11:40 am 11:40 am

You know, I don’t care for Fox news but if Obama is the poster boy for the “uniter” and no more ” bipartisanship” don’t you think him refusing to go on Fox is a reflection of being divisive? I don’t want anyone to respond…we all have our opinions…I just want you all to think.

Didn’t Obama appear on Fox News Friday night?

Posted by: Dave | March 17, 2008, 11:42 am 11:42 am

I agree that Fox news has been least bias when covering these elections. (by the way, NBC is the worst) For a long time nobody else wanted to question anything Obama said except for Fox. It’s quite telling isn’t it…
Of course Obama doesn’t want talk to Fox. They would propably ask him some tough questions he doesn’t want to asnwer. Like how come you went to that church for 20 years and still claim to be totally unaware of all that anti-american rhetoric they preach…

Posted by: Missmadeleine2002 | March 17, 2008, 11:42 am 11:42 am

Actually the secret service document that Obama was in church July 22nd before his appearance in FL.
By the way, i though he didn’t campaign in Fl? I guess that’s a lie too.

Posted by: s.b. | March 17, 2008, 11:45 am 11:45 am

All Democrats need to come on FOX, because, they like it or not, more people watch FOX than CNN or MSNBC. Plus, FOX’s debates have been much fairer and objective, with harsh questions to all GOP candidates unlike MSNBC which asks Clinton the questions and that asks Obama to respond to those statements.

Posted by: American | March 17, 2008, 11:48 am 11:48 am

Secret service records are the best way to know when Obama was in Church for the past while at least.
News outlets should demand that those records be made public and compare them to tapes of the Rev. Wrights sermons.

Can anyone say there is going to be a USA should the markets fail? There could be a shadow of what the USA once was and if so, who is better to govern it. The people running for office and those they pick for various positions had better be well schooled in the ways of the world markets and politics!!!!!

WooHoo, I was warning bloggers last night that were more than happy to jump on the Newsmax story as proof that this story had not been sufficiently vetted. Turns out to be bad journalism and a major black eye to Ron Kessler. It doesn’t mean the evidence is not there, it just hasn’t been revealed. MSM is going to its own vetting.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 11:49 am 11:49 am

Of course I am going to respond…
Obama was on Fox the night before that report.
…and did you notice that the FOX network has gone from a biased news source to “Rev. 30 second loop TV”
Yeah they want to face obama in the fall…not.
but you think he should go on Fox while calming America from this racial uproar, defending agaisnt all the bull coming from the Clinton campaign and pointing out that no one is focusing on the fact that John McCain is doing a campaign tour of a country whose surge – of military force to set up their political structure is working to lower violence but not to set up their political structure – that campaign tour is being paid for by you. The taxpayer not McCain’s campaign.
Because people like FOX want Obama out of this race before the general.
Meanwhile we have flip-flopping Clinton saying she has a plan to correct the mistake she didn’t make and McCain saying lets keep this hole in our deficit flowing while you all may be selling whatever you can to keep a roof over your head.
“Obama not going on Fox…I mean “all Reverend…All Hillary for Dem Nominee -TV” – c’mon.

What I think it is about time Obama gets a fair and balanced interview. CNN, MSNBC, ABC and CBS are in love with Barak Obama. These stations don’t even cover the story of Barak’s paster but were all over the fake no evidence story of John McCain and the NY Times story. Rev. Wright is an Obama advisor and has these statements condemming America on video. Duh. Get with it ABC and stop YOUR Bias. Who’s more scary–Barak Obama and his paster condemming America and blaming America and preaching black seperatism or Mike Huckabee. The news media would say Huckabee, but I pick Huckabee anyday at least he loves America and believes that you should “treat others as you would be treated”.

FOX news has actually become quite moderate! I am really pleased that their executives decided to lighten up the Tilt to right crap. Hannity has been very pleasent and Colmbes actually has a spine. As for Billo… I dont get his deal, why when their is a tornado in Atlanta GA, does his talking points revolve around some radical professor in BFE montana?
Good Job FOX, I actually have started to balance my diet of News with your channel. As you know to the left is CNN, the right is Fox and in the middle seems to be MSNBC! hmmmm!

Why would any democrat or liberal/progressive minded politician ever consider giving Fox News the time of day. Fox News has repeatedly stepped over the line from objective news to a propoganda/ hate feuling talking pundit machine. They should be ignored by anyone who considers the conveyance of real and important world and national issues.

Posted by: Carlo | March 17, 2008, 12:15 pm 12:15 pm

To quote someone I heard on the radio, “Fox is just a vowel movement away from what they really do to the news.”
Would Obama show up for an interview with the Weekly World Reader? (You remember reading the headlines in line at the grocery store, “I HAD BIGFOOTS BABY”, “ALIENS ATE MY CAR”, or “BAT BOY FOUND IN CAVE”)
Unfortunately, just like the World Reader, some people take Fox seriously.

Come on now, wasn’t Roger Ailes chairman of the Republican party a few years ago? Fox News has a target market and message that works for their purposes….it is not fair and balanced, as they proclaim. The most objective discussions have been and will probably be on PBS…they do present both sides and always remain civil….what a concept, civility and respect for others……maybe one day it will spread!
Fox does a good job with football….maybe those guys could start covering politics for them!

Posted by: Bishop | March 17, 2008, 12:36 pm 12:36 pm

C’mon “Dem in Chicago” tsk, tsk. How in the world can Senator Obama be a racist?? Oh, perhaps you haven’t been informed that his mom is caucasian and the fact that he was raised with his causasian grandparents. Didn’t you know that? Geez!
Oh and about the “company he keeps”…let’s try Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Scarlett Johansson, Victoria Hopper, wife of Dennis Hopper and head of Women for Obama in California, Former Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee and U.S. Senator Ben Nelson who also served as Nebraska’s Governor for two terms. Oh…also, the Kennedys, including Maria Shriver, wife of Republican Govenor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
It would probably do you some good to obtain additional knowledge…or, at the very least, stand in front of a mirror and take a good hard look at yourself.
Anyway, I believe Senator Obama does not share the views of the former pastor of that church. If he did, it would have come out long ago. Also, I believe that someone who honestly feels that way would not have enough faith in America to believe that anything could intrinsically change and, thus, would not run for the presidency. Perhaps that’s why Reverends Hagee, Wright, Parsley and Fallwell never ran…

Why can’t politicians run on their own merits instead of backbiting and slandering their opponents which seems to be a favorite ploy of this Democratic campaign? Shame on you.

Although I am not a fan of FOX, I think they have been more fair about Clinton/Obama. We know CNN and MSNBC have given Obama a total pass. If it was Clinton’s Rev. that has said hateful things, it would still be all over the media today. CNN has Bill Clinton accuses media of a mugging, he got that right.

2. I want to see all these other uplifting (love your white neighbor, respect women, and America is a great country…could they just show one clip iof him saying America was a great country…is that so hard) speeches that he gave that would counterbalance this.

I dont think having collaborated evidence of his attendance at any questionable sermons is going to change pulic opinion. Any thinking person can already conclude that it is unlikely he did not know and therefore it is likely he lied based on all of the other evidence, ie. previous legitimate news articles where he and Wright and planned or acknowledged Wright may have to be hidden or dropped from the campaign.
Let’s assume he was never present (most likely intentional by Wright and Farrakahn since Farrakahn said Obama has been groomed), I think most people can make a good case for assuming 1) Michelle told him 2) daughter asked him about it 3) Oprah told him (she left because Wright was too extreme several years ago) 4) Wright told him (as evidenced in quotes in legitimate news interviews) 5) other people in the congregation or community told him. I just do not believe he did not know and therefore conclude he lied about not knowing. I also conclude he used and continues to use poor judgement exposing his children to black separatism. I further conclude his response has been purely politically convenient. So for me this is a huge deal breaker based on poor judgement, questionable values, and lack of credibility.
This mornings poll tells us most people overwhelmingly disapprove of Wright. Time will tell if this has permanently damaged him enough to lose the nomination. If he gets the nom, the reps will use this as his nail in the coffin.

So, Barak Obama is so afraid of the big, bad Fox News that he refuses to confront them on national television.
But, the same Barak Obama wants Americans to believe he is capable of leading the United States.
Perhaps Obama could take along his “old uncle” and spiritual mentor for support against the devils from Fox.

Posted by: cwbflyr | March 17, 2008, 2:53 pm 2:53 pm

We all know that Fox News is a platform for the Republican party and the conservative wing of politics.
We also know that refusing to confront an adversary suggests fear or inability to respond or both.
Barak Obama’s refusal to confront Chris Wallace, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, or any of the other Fox henchmen reinforces a perception of inexperience and fear.
Hillary Clinton could have refused to participate in a debate knowing that she would have to put up with the Obama bias of Tim Russert.
Instead, Clinton allowed Russert to rant and flame while the entire country watched his childish performance.
Nice to see that at least one Democrat isn’t afraid of the media.

It’s hard to believe that Senator Obama doesn’t know what his minister has been saying regarding the United States and white Americans. The clip that was shown on television of Wright preaching from the pulpit was a message of hate against the USA and white Americans. I certainly hope that Senator Obama will come out with a stronger message against what Wright said. Senator Obama and his wife have been members of his congreation for years..I thought Senaor Obama was for hope, but now I don’t believe he is and I will not vote for him. Senator John McCain has shown how much he loves our country and when you love your country as much as he does then you will always do what is best for all her citizens. To me, Senator McCain stands head and shoulders above Senators Obama and Clinton.

ABC is the only source of news that is somewhat reasonable.

btw, vanessa, obama not wanting to be interviewed by anyone other than sycophants is just another of the many reasons he’s not up to the job. and today was another example – wouldn’t take questions about wright, said i’ll be giving a speech – afraid of actual confrontation, wants a speech – pre-written words, which is by invitation only, so only people who like him will be there clapping away, and where he can’t be questioned.

FOX news isn’t the voice of Americans.
What is fair?
RESPECT IS IMPORTANT
Racism has been spoken in pastors sermons to several Presidents, Presidents hopefuls, Congress, and Senators for years. Racism was spoken in churches before eighteen hundreds and still today.
Do we need video evidence?
People are ready to change regardless of who wrote the speech, regardless of media reports, regardless of relationships and regardless of pastors.
People have a right to accept or reject Pastor’s advice. NEXT POST

It is bad that americans can punish someone for another person’s sin. My friends’ and family’s belief are quiet differnt from mine even though I have known them for more than 30 yeras. I still like my family and friends even though they are negative @ times.

How desperate the Clinton camp has become. My parish priest was a mentor for many years. Only later did I find out that he had been molesting altar boys. Should I forget all the things he taught me about Jesus, about being good to others and caring about the poor? Hell no.
I reject his actions but will always remember the good advice and teachings he bestowed on others.
Obama hit it right on the nose. He loves the guidance he received but, rejects some of the crazy things he said, like a crazy uncle you still love.

Mr. Obama can’t tell me he didn’t know what kind of sermans his pastor was preaching. He has been a member of that church for 20 years. I’m sure some of that hate has worn off. Be careful America. I think Mr. Obama is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I listened to Obama’s speech today. First on Friday, He never heard Rev Wright espouse these racial words. Today he said yes he heard them.So which should we take in consideration to make up our minds on how Obama really feels. Does he hate us as much as he minister. I have never heard a minister or priest speak such hatred towards Americans. Rev Wrights sermons may explain why Mrs Obama is just now proud to be American. Maybe she should have been proud when America helped pay for her College education. I sure didn’t get a free ride and I don’t hate other people. We all have to take responsibility for what we do, including black people. What will Obama do now. I know, he have Rev Sharpton protest, march, etc because Obama listened for 20 years to a racist minister.

Racism started before eighteen hundreds. Have congress, Senators, and this present Republican party put racism to rest? Have Americans been deceived?
Have FOX NEWS put racism to rest? Can FOX NEWS put to rest racism in America? Will Fox news distance itself from America or will FOX NEWS work to bring about a change.
Racism is an American problem.
Major G. and Other people at Fox News will you change racism in America by separating and denouncing America?
Will Hillary, Obama, or McCain change America by denouncing America?
Will Governors, Congress, Senators, and American Leaders denounce a church because it has been reported that over the last 20 years it has drawn some very sharp lines against civil rights? ( this is not the church in the city of Chicago)
Who is the Republican American Senator that dislike a person because of a name. Will the American Government separate and denounce this Republican Senator?
Racism is a Republican and Demarcated problem. Racism is an American problem.
Can America put racism to rest?
Can American bring about an economic change?
America has over a hundred years of healing which need to take place.
CAN FOX NEWS BE A BETTER PART OF THAT HEALING? Will FOX NEWS use racism to separate or will FOX NEWS go beyond?
Where are the jobs which was promised to the people in Upstate New York? Should words match our actions?
Who designed NAFTA, CAFTA and others? America need better Trade talks!
Past leadership and past thinking has placed Americans in this present position.
America need to see all tax returns.
If you see this election as history making for a woman, or the words black. You are wrong. This is a United Stated States of America so don’t try to separate the people.
This is an election about:
A yes vote for this war ( ABOUT ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY FIVE THOUSAND AMERICANS ARE FIGHTING THIS WAR) HOW MANY AMERICANS HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THIs WAR? HOW MANY MORE WILL DIE?–America have a war committee now let us elect a new President.
Economic Change
Safety in America
OIL IN IRA
Gas prices
job prosperity
Trade talks
Housing (foreclosure campground)
Education–Financial IQ
THIRD CULTURE THINKING VOTED FOR CHANGE

What will help America?

Fox news does have a bias to the right. Everyone has a bias. It is good to have more than one bias to listen to. It gives us a greater understanding of each other’s views. For many years the only bias was the left. To have at least one right-sided news network gives us a choice. Isn’t freedom of speech one of our best freedoms? I agree, Obama should be open to be interviewed by any network. He needs to choose someone on Fox who is more open like Greta.

It’s so arrogant of Chris Wallace to feature a countdown/demand for an appearance.
I watched a 4-member panel on Chris Wallace last Sunday wherein not ONE comment happened which gave Barack Obama any benefit of doubt. It was all negative, demeaning, cruel. And especially on the part of Juan Williams from whom I have noticed an abiding dislike of Barack Obama – never have I seen Juan go on the offensive against any democrat, having heard him defend democrats to an almost ludicrous degree.
So, Chris Wallace – when you and your panel can be fair and balanced like you claim, present both sides of a story, then maybe YOUR program will deserve to have a countdown.
Until then, you dont.

Barack Obama just gave what will be known as one of the most honest and revealing speeches in American history on the difficult subject of race relations.
Headlines from the internet:
CNN – ” Obama urges Americans to help heal racial divide”
MSNBC – “Obama tackles race”
Neweek.com- “One for the History Books”
Time.com – “Obama’s Bold Gamble on Race”
nytimes.com – “Criticizing Pastor, Obama Assesses Race in U.S.”
and even in from some non-liberal sources:
washingtontimes.com – “Obama tackles racial divide”
from David Brody of the cbn.com – “Obama Hits the Mark in Race Speech”
the headline at Fox news? “Obama Won’t ‘Disown’ Pastor”
Is it ANY wonder he’s not been on Fox News Sunday?
“Faux News – We distort. You comply.”

I thought Obama Speech was excellent because he provided a quick education to Americans on race and history. I believe Obama was honest and sincere in his comments. If Americans want change then they need to look within their own hearts and trust their own minds and not let petty politics driven by big media outlets influence their decision. In Chicago, Trinity is a popular church among blacks and whites. Obama is running for President and he has never said any comments like his pastor’s comments and that is the important point. I am judging Obama and not his Pastor. Do not judge Obama because of his a few comments from Dr. Wright to just want to be provocative to hold his audience. There are many professional people that attend this church who are not radical but spiritual. People who are undecided need to understand FOX NEWS purposefully drove this issue because Obama was winning over Reagan Republicans.
Look beyond the obvious if this country is to move forward. We are all in the same boat because Americans share similar problems with the economic issues, educational issues and health issues. Do not let this be a distraction if you really want a positive change. Obama will be good for All Americans! I believe this will my heart and soul and so does my family and friends. What most Americans don’t know is that whites and blacks have had pleasant experiences with Trinity Church members where people are from all educational backgrounds and social experiences. Trinity has taken part in corporate strategies to improve diversity and health disparities. Rev. Wright is provocative to keep folks on the edge of their seats and to strike a positive nerve to take personal action and not depend on the government. Most Blacks understand Black Ministers and the different styles of preaching. He has spoken out on injustices that affect blacks and whites alike.
Rev. Wright has always been gracious to visitors and members regardless of race or gender. I believe Obama was honest and forthright about Dr. Wright, his relationship, and denouncing comments Dr. Wright made. It would be false for him to disown Dr. Wright and insincere at best. Does America want a president that switches on friends and family because of polls and divisive media outlets? There will be people who will find a reason not to vote for Obama despite the fact he is the best choice for American at this time. If we are still discussing race in 2008 then Obama should be president because he has taken a leadership position unlike other Presidents

I am really very disheartened by a country that chooses a candidate based on what that candidate’s pastor says and not what the candidate has said. Those who didn’t hear the truth in Obama’s speech today were never going to vote for him in the first place.

Congrats to Fox News for forming
Obama Watch. It is much needed.
I cannot believe that even after
we know that Obama’s church’s
mission statement is anti-American
because it is pro-Africa above all
else, that his ratings have decreased
only slightly.
Obama is necessarily guilty by
association with that church and there
has been way too much emphasis on Rev.
Jeremiah instead of Obama himself and
I believe that has been intentional.
If Obama comes away from this fairly
unscathed, then that must mean Ferraro
is correct, because, if it was Hillary
who was a member of a church like that,
everyone would have been pelting her
with criticism.
But, I think something else more
urgent appears to be happening, and,
that is, that if so many voters are
unaffected by Obama’s membership in
that church–given the church’s anti-
American stance–then they must not
care if the government gets overthrown
or not.
John F. Kennedy once said “my church
doesn’t speak for me and I don’t speak
for it,” but, Kennedy wasn’t a member
of a church that put Ireland above
America and had a definite anti-
American stance.
Therefore, Obama should not have
considered running for president, and,
if the majority of his voters are
sticking by him, then, they are just
as guilty as he is; just as he is
equally as guilty as Rev. Jeremiah.

I am beginning to think that Obama has been groomed and politically positioned by the movers and the shakers in the black community, and the “Black Church”, as it’s called. There is something about Obama’s sudden rise to the top of the political heap, and his instant celebrity status, that has seemed odd to me. He hasn’t been in politics long enough to pay his dues (although he’s certainly beginning to pay them now). The nation hasn’t gotten a chance to really get to know him; he hasn’t been in the public eye for more than a few years. Yet here he is, a serious contender for the presidency. The fact that Obama didn’t long ago sever ties with the Black Church and his extremist pastor, and the fact that he still won’t sever ties…would make a lot of sense if he owed the leaders of that organization big time for getting him to where he is now.

Posted by: cb | March 18, 2008, 10:16 pm 10:16 pm

I knew Fox would never abide the possibility of a black president. And I also knew Fox would want to direct the primary toward the person they’ve been waiting 16 years to attack. Way to analyze a nuanced, intelligent speech with more cheap soundbites of Rev. Wright.
Needless to say, he won’t be nominated, since Fox & its imitators (Glenn Beck) will put a stop to it by scaring white America. Too bad, because I was looking forward to seeing if they could get through the general election season without some Fox pundit slipping and saying the “n” word. Talking in code gets trying after a few months, doesn’t it?
I’ve no doubt McCain will win. Let’s just hope conscription follows, so we can finally learn our lesson. Certainly the George W. Bush Memorial Great Depression will be, um, a bit of a wake-up call.

Obama made an elequent speech but made significant mistakes. Equating his grandmother and even implying she caused him more discomfort than the preacher who raised him to the hate mongering preacher showed a significant lack of maturity and moral perspective. Obama tried to justify that black people have a right to feel about America as the preacher outlines in his outrageous claims. In my generation, blacks along with other minorities got the nod for jobs ahead of whites and black students in the same school as my kids got lower grades but were given scholarships ahead of white students who had far superior grades. These are the current realities. The black community who wants to point back to past generations who were slaves are looking to grind an axe. There are no blacks in America who were slaves or know anyone who was. Most of us have slave ancesstors white or black if our history is tracked back far enough. Obama is correct about wanting to move forward but defends his preacher and a church who distributes the kind of hatred and misinformation during his campaign. If a white preacher made comments like Obama’s preacher made, the Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton types would be shouting foul from the roof tops. But black leaders are saying that this preacher’s comments were ok given the black context and the black experience. If the black church is selling tapes of this preachers hate mongering then this church is promoting hatred and making the race divide wider and if Obama still belongs to this church then he is part of the behavior. Obama at the least has shown that he lacks the maturity to lead a nation when he continues to participate in be aligned with a church that has these views.

I am a political science student at one of America’s top universities and this is the first presidential election in which I am eligible to vote.
One thing I have learned from this race is that you need to do your own research and think for yourself. These 30 second sound bites will not inform you adequately and you may end up voting for the person that will keep us in the same spot and even push us backwards.
Mainstream America needs to wake up. None of these media outlets are about the truth or academic thought and information (which is not hard to learn). Well-balanced cable news is an oxymoron. There is always a slant. They are about power, ratings and controversy. Don’t let them speak for you. Watch CSPAN, read a newspaper, read a book and inform yourself.

Senator Obama’s speech was brilliant but those that are prejudice will probably not understand it anyway. Cut the guy some slack will ya? He explaned the race problems from both sides and how differently it is preceived by people of different generations while denouncing Rev Wright’s ignorant statements. Lets get back to the issues that need addressing by these candidates and how they plan to improve the problems Americans are facing today. Enough about race already, we are better than this.

I am appalled at the continuing hate speech from Sean Hannity regarding Barack Obama and his pastor. No mention of his chosen candidate, John McCain, standing proudly next to Minister John Hegey while being endorsed by him. Minister Hegey, who refers to the Catholic Church (I believe Hannity’s church) as the “great whore” and the “antichrist.” Any calls to McCain to denounce Minister Hegey? Sean Hannity wants Obama to leave his church immediately or be tainted with all the views of his pastor. What about his church? Shouldn’t he leave it immediately because of some of the actions of the Catholic clergy that have come to light? If he remains a Catholic, is he condoning sexual abuse of children? Let’s be fair. Obama has a right to his faith and to worship wherever he chooses. That does not mean that he agrees with everything preached at his church, and neither does Sean Hannity’s attendance at a Catholic church mean he agrees with all the actions of his clergy.
