Key Part of JFK-Obama Myth Not True

Key Part of JFK-Obama Myth Not True

Our friend Michael Dobbs, the Fact Checker at the Washington Post, takes a look today at the claim by Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, wrapping up his existence in the hagiography of Camelot.

The basic notion is this: the Kennedy family, led by then-Sen. John Kennedy, D-Mass., funded an airlift of 81 Kenyan students to the United States.

Among those 81 Kenyan students — Barack Obama Sr., who then met and married a young woman named Ann Dunham, from Kansas.

And on August 4, 1961, Barack Obama, Jr., was born.

As Obama said to voters in Alabama last year: "What happened in Selma, Alabama and Birmingham also stirred the conscience of the nation. It worried folks in the White House who said, ‘You know, we’re battling Communism. How are we going to win hearts and minds all across the world? If right here in our own country, John, we’re not observing the ideals set fort in our Constitution, we might be accused of being hypocrites.’

"So the Kennedys decided, ‘We’re going to do an air lift. We’re going to go to Africa and start bringing young Africans over to this country and give them scholarships to study so they can learn what a wonderful country America is,’" Obama continued. "This young man named Barack Obama got one of those tickets and came over to this country. He met this woman whose great great-great-great-grandfather had owned slaves; but she had a good idea there was some craziness going on because they looked at each other and they decided that we know that the world as it has been it might not be possible for us to get together and have a child."

What a great story, right?

Reporting on Caroline Kennedy’s decision to endorse Obama, Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter wrote that "One intriguing element of Obama’s family history that resonated with Caroline was a long-buried story that was brought to her attention last summer. It drove home for her how history replays itself, how two generations of two families separated by distance, culture and wealth can intersect in strange and wonderful ways, and how people have no idea that their good deeds may come back to them someday."

A key part of this for Caroline, Alter writes, is that "Two weeks after he was nominated for president in July 1960, then-Senator Kennedy received a visit at his vacation home in Hyannis Port, Mass., from a Kenyan educator, Tom Mboya, who told him that more than 200 African students had received scholarships to American universities through the African-American Students Foundation but did not have the $100,000 for air transport."

For whatever reason, the Eisenhower State Department would not pay for what "the African airlift."

So then-Sen. John F. Kennedy "quietly tapped his family’s Kennedy Foundation, which agreed to raise the necessary funds privately," Alter writes. "The airlift money came through from the Kennedy Foundation, and the students arrived. Barack Obama Sr. went to the University of Hawaii, where he met and married a young white woman from Kansas. Their son, born the following year, arrived in the United States Senate in early 2005 and found that the antique desk he had been assigned on the Senate floor had once belonged to JFK, whose initials were carved inside. Obama learned only recently how his father’s dream of studying in the United States had been fulfilled."

When Obama secured the endorsements of Caroline and Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., he referred to the airlift that brought his father over to the U.S., saying, "part of what made it possible for him to come here was an effort by the young senator from Massachusetts at the time, John F. Kennedy and by a grant — and by a grant from the Kennedy Foundation to help Kenyan students pay for travel. So it is partly because of their generosity that my father came to this country. And because he did, I stand before you today inspired by America’s past, filled with hope for America’s future and determined to do my part in writing our next great chapter."

But here’s the rub, writes Dobbs today. "It is a touching story — but the key details are either untrue or grossly oversimplified."

Because Obama’s father was part of the September 1959 airlift — which the Kennedys did not help fund.

The Kennedys helped fund the September 1960 airlift.

Writes Dobbs: "Obama spokesman Bill Burton acknowledged yesterday that the senator from Illinois had erred in crediting the Kennedy family with a role in his father’s arrival in the United States. He said the Kennedy involvement in the Kenya student program apparently ‘started 48 years ago, not 49 years ago as Obama has mistakenly suggested in the past.’"

So Mboya secured funding from the Kennedys after Obama Sr. was already studying in Hawaii.

Dobbs reports that "The former executive director of the African-American Students Foundation, Cora Weiss, said some of the money provided by the Kennedys was used to pay off old debts and subsidize student stipends. Even though Obama Sr. arrived the previous year, he and other members of the 1959 cohort benefited indirectly from Kennedy family support."

Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, though, does it?

Interesting, but no to be compared to false foreign policy experience claims or lies about opposing NAFTA, both core issues in this campaign.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Obama family has cherished the Kennedy funding as part of their personal history. The finding might be a surprise for them as well.
Bottom line: there was no argument in the story for choosing Obama over McCain or Clinton, while Clinton’s lies have all been about pushing forward arguments to vote for her.
BTW who funded the flight Obama’s father was on then? Any info about that? Might be an even greater story, if it would have been a Republican who flew in the father of America’s greatest Democratic President since Jack Kennedy.

Here we go again. One day, Clinton embellishes the truth. The next day, it’s Obama. Can’t either of these candidates go a week without lying? That’s just seven days. Doesn’t seem like much to ask.
They could use these seven days to talk about real issues.
Nah — sorry. Lost my head.

Obama’s discours has to be seen as part of a larger context and movement. It should be said that America played a very important role in the liberation of Africa from the colonizators and JFK and his family has done a lot in supporting Liberia, Ghana, and then the rest of Africa to become independant. America has played an important role in the 40-60s in the emancipation of Africans. Africa should never forget that debt. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Is there anyone left who tells the truth??? These are signs of desperation and politics as usual. They all are flawed but Hillary is our best bet. Obama is an unqualified media creation, much like Bush. When he is off his script, he is tongue tied and lacking in details. One incompetent president has done so much damage. We cannot afford another!

let’s see events that happen before he was born, family lore passed down, He knew there was a connection, not hardly the lie, like dodging bullets, that happened during an adult life.
Bottom line did he benifit from the altruistic actions of Kennedys, in the context he was speaking ? Yes.

There is something that is puzzling me Gallup poll has Obama 50% over Hillary 43% popularity. Now most of the people I have talked to wish the man would fall off the face of the earth. So, who are they polling? I’m black no one has called me, who are these people they are talking to! CNN/Oprah people! That is the only poll rating that has had Obama in that much of a lead. Oprah’s money at work.

Bernd, what does this tell us?
It tells us the story of Barrack Obama has been carefully scripted. As one commentator posted to the LATimes:
“Hollywood could not have done better. Scripted to perfection.”
Also, Dreams of My Father, promoted as Obama’s “biography” consists of many composite characters and fictional conversations and pseudonyms. Obama is a good storyteller.

Looks like Obama “Mis-spoke” again,…

Posted by: Jerry | March 30, 2008, 10:33 am 10:33 am

Jake, if you as a polital journalist thought that the key element of the so called “JFK – Obama Myth” was about this story, you apparently have missed what happened to America, and especially to YOUNG America and first time voters, during this primary season.
No one in the movement that has grown as a response to the rise of the Obama phenomenon has been interested in this story, but many were reminded of the promise for a better America that has been contained in the three letters of JFK, a promise that millions -for the first time since JFK was murdered- see embodied in the out of the ordinary individual and politician Barack Obama.
Even lots of folks in conservative Republican circles have acknowledged, just as Bill Richardson said, that there is ‘something special’ about this candidate, and some already say that Obama’s qualities seem to surpass that of JFK, though it’s early to tell. However, the story about Kennedy funding that flight has never been part of any of these considerations.

The wrong statement by Hill has been a deceit for soldiers and generals who have organized the trip and assured her protection. “Hillary the Bosnian sniper”. God bless America and God bless Obama. What a great reason to vote for Hillary! But, wait, what about the economy then?
Hillary Clinton owes Iowa’s Sioux City Art Center Board of Trustees $3,500 for catering and venue costs, New Hampshire’s Winnacunnet Cooperative School District $4,400 in event costs, Qwest $24,000 for phone service, various branches of the Iowa-based supermarket chain Hy-Vee $15,000 for food, beverages and catering and $7,700 to Ohio and Massachusetts branches of the theatrical stage employees’ union for equipment costs.
In fact, about a third of the nearly 700 individual debts Clinton reported at the end of February were for various types of “event expenses,” including $319,000 for catering and venue costs, $420,000 for equipment, $11,000 for photography and $9,000 for security.
Event production is important to big-time presidential campaigns. It shapes how candidates look and sound, not just to the thousands of people who turn out to campaign speeches and rallies, but also to the millions who catch snippets of them on television.
And word is getting around that Clinton’s campaign does not promptly pay those who labor to make her events look good, said an employee of the event production company Forty Two of Youngstown, Ohio.
“I feel insulted by the way that the campaign treated this company and treated us personally,” said the employee, who did not want to be named talking about a client.
The Clinton campaign paid the company $16,500 to set up a stage, press riser, sound system and backdrops at a Youngstown high school last month for a raucous union rally, where an aggressive Clinton stump speech drew thunderous applause. But the Clinton campaign has yet to pay Forty Two for two other February events and the employee said the campaign has stopped returning phone calls, e-mails and didn’t respond to a certified letter.
“We worked very hard to put together these events on a moment’s notice and do absolutely everything to a ‘t’ to make it look perfect on television for her and for her campaign,” said the employee. “Sen. Clinton talks about helping working families, people in unions and small businesses. But when it comes down to actually doing something that shows that she can back up her words with action, she fails.”
Forty Two also has done events for Obama’s campaign, which has paid its bills promptly, according to the employee. FEC records show Obama’s campaign paid the company $18,500.

Obama is a constant liar, the media for days reminded us of the Clinton Bosnia gaff they played it over and over it was hot news.
Now we have Obama with his daily lies and the media of course is very selective not to mention in the same manner that they did with Clinton Obama’s gaffs.
We are not hearing from Obama that the pastor apologized where when did that happen I must of missed that one.
We are also hearing from Obama that Wright was not his spiritual mentor, excuse me but did not Obama say that Wright was just that to him?
He goes even further he would of left the church had not Wright retired, really now after telling us he could not disown Wright.
This sort of crap goes on daily, over and over but the media as usual never says a word about all of this, why I do not know, if the media is so upset over lies and makes it a issue, what makes Obama’s lying over and over so different to anyone else?

Posted by: SJ | March 30, 2008, 10:46 am 10:46 am

so let me get this straight because I really am not sure what you are saying…so the woman who was in charge of all this says the money went for Obama’s father from the Kennedy’s helped his education not the flight?
am I reading this article wrong?
isn’t that what the last section says…
not sure why we should care…he got help…whether it be a flight or education…what does that matter…he was part of the program…that got help from the Kennedys bringing people over from Africa….
correct…or not …seriously just asking.

We also have another issue where is his senate records no paper trail they have gone missing. Yeah we can demand that Clinton documents need to be looked at and nitpicked over but with Obama no paper trail we all have to just go on his word as to what he did or did not do.
Was that a deliberate attempt to hide these documents from the public how can Obama not know where these documents are or what happened to them?

How about Obama lying that he never heard his pastor’s terribe anti-american anti-white comments and then the next day during this speech (which stunk by the way) state that he did, in fact, hear those comments. Why doesn’t the media (Matthews, Oberman, Cafferty, etc) talk about that and also talk about it was one of Obama’s supporters that breached the passport files. It’s obvious Obama’s supporters breached Obama’s passport file to see if there was anything damaging about Obama that he could secretly remove.

Sean: You said we are all over Obama for a years difference…WOW!!! Not only on a years difference but, the fact that it never happen. The Kennedy’s never sponsored his father EVER. This man released a picture of his Pastor and Bill Clinton shaking hands at the Whitehorse. Why? Because, people were coming down on his pastor. So, in retaliation he does what releases a picture of his Pastor at the Whitehorse. What he forgot to mention was that over 100 black pastors were their in support of Clinton during the Monica investigations. Just an over site I guess. Not only that HE released the info to the PRESS mind you that Hillary LIED in reference to Bosnia trip. Why because his creditability was being challenged. He himself came out to the world as if he were going to be immortalized as a saint. Not us we know nothing about him. So, to catch him in a lie/mis-quote yeah I would say that was a big thing.

It’s a dumb story designed to pull the young college students in. That isn’t going to change the electoral math. Obama is unelectable.
Actually, I’m surprised Jake posted that. He’s been partisan for Obama for weeks now. Maybe the winds are shifting in the media after the Leahy/Casey debacles.
Weird media: if you were a West Wing fan, Senator Clinton is the minority fighting the Democratic machine at the convention. Art imitates life but never duplicates life.

I just remembered that when Obama does not tell the truth it is not called a “lie” no thats for all of us common folks his lies are more sophisticated it is called “verbal camouflage.” See does’t that sound better!

Posted by: russell | March 30, 2008, 11:20 am 11:20 am

I would not even bother with what the media covers or not because anytime a question is asked about Obama and anything concerns posted on here about Obama your thread gets deleted.
I don’t think some individuals really want to know the truth about Obama, or they sure don’t want people asking for too many details, all we need to do is just go out and support him, if he becomes President then I guess we can ask or post anything then.
What an injustice being done to the nation, we can all question what he want on the Clinton’s post any little details we dig up but when it come to Obama some post seem to disappear instantly, with Hillary anything is news sniper fire and blue dresses are hot topics.

Posted by: SJ | March 30, 2008, 11:29 am 11:29 am

Obama lies and says things that are exaggerated?? Shocked I say…but I am sure his supporters and the media will make up some excuse or compare this to something HRC has done and make it seem like a very small lie.

Posted by: Eric | March 30, 2008, 11:30 am 11:30 am

Bottom Line, Hiliary was in Bosnia for the reason she said she was.  Who cares if she actually encounter sniper fire was was advice to be prepared for sniper fire.  Who cares if it was a corkscrew landing, or tactical landing, he landed. She is running to become a pilot or combat soldier, she is running to be President.  She remains the best qualified for the job.  Who can remember exact details from twelve years ago when asked in a forum the wayshe was asked.  Given time to review or research, I am sure she could have remembered correctly.  On the other hand, Obama claims were researched and reviewed and he and Caroline Kennedy still did not get the facts right.  JPT don’t be a hypocrit, just continue to report the facts.

Posted by: winning0853 | March 30, 2008, 11:30 am 11:30 am

Posted by: leslie | March 30, 2008, 11:33 am 11:33 am

vanessa: There is the the problem you are facing it is called Cognitive Dissonance. This occurs when one is confronted with a new set of facts that challenges what they beleive, this causes one to rationalize the facts so that they will fit into what they already hold true! So this is what you are doing when you say you do not care if he lies because that does not challenge your beleifs about her, but the fact that he could tell such a lie challenges what you think about him. So to rationalize this you say it does’t matter and all that you care about are the issues. Conflict resolved! But you do not mind pointing out her lies! Again you rationalize, her lies are worse, again that allows you the ability not to change how you feel about him! Conflicted resolved!

Posted by: russell | March 30, 2008, 11:35 am 11:35 am

There are more interesting stories on Obama and Africa but the media does not want to investigate that side of it, so who cares about how his father got to the USA.
As a voter what I care about is what Obama is doing and saying, who his associates are, what are his values, what he did in his past that is what I want to hear about.
So rather than tell me about the love story of Obama’s father and mother go and investigate Obama and what he did in Kenya, who he met and why because he is running for POTUS and that is important to me as a American.

But can the polls really be trusted? In the 1948 Presidential election, for example, the polls predicted certain victory for Republican Thomas E. Dewey. Without waiting for the official count of the votes, newspapers throughout the country proclaimed in their headlines, “Dewey Defeats Truman.” The rest is history … Harry S Truman was elected the 31st President of the United States.

More fairy tales from Obama – and how desperate are some star liberals to fall for it. But not many of us “typical white voters.”
Of course, such outreach to African students was part of the same 1960′s that Obama has carelessly denigrated in his campaign.
Jake – will Obama’s “untruths” get the same wall-to-wall coverage as Clinton’s Bosnia trip?

If the Obama media had focused on both candidates fair and square, we will not be where we are today with second guessing stories that have been told the general public months ago. This is self evident that media is not doing their utmost to inform the American people in a balanced way prior to major elections. I am sure there is a lot more out to discover about Obama but for fear of being branded racists or standing in the way of so called history, we will go on and nominate a flawed candidate and in the long run lose the general election.

Here’s another case of Obama’s brand of “just words” to get votes. Scratch the veneer of Obama’s words and you see Obama is a politician like other politicians. He does not walk on water; he walks on words. You can always count on Obama for “just words”; you can’t count on Obama being a man of his word.

When is the media going to confront Obama on his mis-statement and exaggerations about his background and his accomplishments. Find the N.Y. Times article from 1990 or 1991 following his electon as editor of the Harvard Law Review. As a 28 year old man – certainly qualifies him as an adult – he LIED about his father’s position. He told the interviewer that his dad had been the “Finance Minister of Kenya”. He wasn’t. He also claimed that his mother was an anthropologist. If she was, where’s her research? The point is: who was he trying to impress back then. Was he so uncomfortable in his own skin that he had to invent a background. It is troubling that the little we know about Obama’s family is what he wants us to know. – and that he lied about his background when it couldn’t possibly make any difference. MEDIA< PLEASE EXAMINE THIS!!!

Funny, I bet it is this story that persuaded Caroline Kennedy to endorse Obama. History will note that Caroline Kennedy is one of the women (Oprah is another one) who denied the election of the first woman president.
It will take another 200 years before a woman can be seriously considered again for the presidency.
Hillary happens to be the best candidate for the office. Period.

Obama can certainly construct a good myth on his behalf. But in our tendencies to view presidential candidates as Olympian, rather than folks with foibles standing on the same ground, we allow the myths to unfold. Just a synopsis.

I saw something interesting at the supermarket while waiting at the checkout Yesterday. You know how people leaf through the magazines while they’re waiting in line? Well, the nice middle class guy ahead of me was reading an article in this week’s Globe or Enquirer with a headline to the effect of “Oprah left Wright’s Church – why not Obama!”. I don’t think that those two publications have gotten or are interested in the Obama Talking Points that want us to “turn the page” on this story. The Obama campaign might want to add a new line item in their budget entitled “Buy up all tabloids at the checkout counters”! THIS is the story that won’t die how a presidential candidate spent 20 years listening to his racist, anti-american minister.

Obama Airlift Fairy Tale Inflated With Air

Key part of JFK-Obama Myth Not True from Jake Tapper at Political Punch reveals that Senator Obama did a little Clintonesque inflating of the truth when he claimed that his father Barack Obama Sr. was brought to this country courtesy

Posted by: PAXALLES | March 30, 2008, 1:48 pm 1:48 pm

How is this even remotly relevant? I’m kinda perturbed that I spent 5 minutes reading it.
Anyway it’s proposterous for anyone supporting the Clinton’s to mention honesty and fairness or call someone else uninformed. Ever heard of the pardon scandal? White water? Sexual harassment?… maybe you all were just tired that day… The media should ignore this the same way they ignored the fact that Bill Clinton sexually harassed women for 25 years and Hillary helped to cover it up.

Posted by: Donna | March 30, 2008, 1:48 pm 1:48 pm

MattOhio,
I agree—the storm is coming for Obama. I didn’t think it would start cranking until Pennsylvania, but the results I’m seeing coming out of Texas with about half of the caucus precincts reporting show that the Obama trend is already reversing, they are now at 50-50 and Obama may still be sinking.
This is a 7 point drop for Obama in his own original supporters. I’m wondering why the press is so cautious reporting this, but I guess they don’t want to get caught appearing to be playing the race card, as is the risk that occurs when there are any negative political reports that come out about Obama.
Nonetheless, it looks very favorable to Hillary Clinton. Everytime there is a storm brewing for Obama the cries go up for Hillary to drop out. What many Obama supporters don’t get is that more than half the Democratic base supports Hillary.
The independents that Obama though he could draw from are now scrambling to decide if Hillary or McCain will be a better investment. They are doing this for only one reason, as far as I can tell, and that is because of the Reverend Wright relationship.

Obama is a smart guy. He knew when the Selma March took place but he knew the media would not contradict him right away. I felt offended that he claimed Selma as his own while he was living comfortably being raised by his white mother and white grandparents. It’s like some rappers lying about growing up in the ghetto. His father was here before Kennedy was elected. The Kennedys don’t deserve that credit. The media refuses to scructinize this man. It’s good the Selma and airlift lie is outed but its way too late. I’m so dissappointed in most of the media outlets. As for Alter, he had the nerve to suggest Sen. Clinton give up before many voters have had their say. Tapper should never have mentioned Tonya. That’s about as low as he could go. Now the “Packs” are using the term. Some so called journalists should join the tabloids.

Vivi,
You are calling it exactly right. ABC News has been doing a hit job on Hillary for the past two weeks, but now they’ve shut up when they realized that Patrick Leahy was not the delivery man for the fix, and the fix is not in yet.
Howard Dean and Pelosi are trying to engineer the fix, by calling it for by July 1st, to try to head off riots in the streets of Denver.
Also Pennsylvania voters, where Obama is campaigning, got absolutely inflamed at the thought of a Beltway Senator trying to disenfranchise them too. Working class Democrats are not taking to kindly to the Upscale Democrats looking down their noses at us.
So Obama was scrambling to try to repair the damage from these insane comments. Leahy’s comments probably just cost him another 100,000 votes.

Obama’s pastor grew up in the 50′s and 60′s when “RACISM” not slavery still existed. “Where are they now”, what’s the time limit for victims to be scorned? Wright grew up during a time when BLACKS had NO rights, and were not protected by the judicial system.
Wright speaks out of anger for the mistreatment he actually experienced. His distrust of the American Government comes his own experiences, unlike mine and yours of these modern times! His RAGE does not identify America today, but asking him or his generation to act like what happened yesterday, never happened is insane!
I think Obama was right to stand by his Pastor, his Pastor unlike many blacks today really was discriminated against and is a REAL victim of RACISM, just like (RAPE – FAMILIES of MURDER – Women of ABUSE) What’s the statue of limitation for those people! Comparing Obama staying and Oprah leaving, he put his loyalty before his IMAGE!!!!!

The Obama media friendly outlets ought to be ashamed & embarassed that they are being hoodwinked by a slick talker with no questions asked. Obama is having the time of day knowing full well he has “pulled the wool” over your eyes. You all spent nearly 2 weeks disecting the mistake Hillary made when describing an event which took place 12yrs. ago. On the other hand Obama was a member of an establishment for 20yrs. listening to hate against America & Americans & saying nothing until he got caught. Since then he has defined his relationship with his Pastor to fit with where & whom the interviewer is @ any specific moment. He first told Fox he wasn’t present when those digustingly hateful accusations against America & Americans were spewed from this man’s lips. He later made a speech in which he now heard “some” of what was said, but not the most hardcore hate. On the View he denied that Rev Wright was his Spiritual Advisor, only his Pastor. Why in God’s name is this man getting away with such blatant lies, while Hillary was/is crucified for mis-speaking about a 12yrs ago issue? Does anyone think that by insulating this man the Democrats stand any chance of the White House if he was so unfortunate to be the Nominee? Lets speak reality, all of the so-called elite Super Delegates for Obama had better wake up & “smell the coffee” because if they think by disrespecting & embarassing Hillary we ( her supporters) take kindly to that they are in dreamland. If Obama is the Nominee there will be an organized branch of Hillary’s supporters who will remember the way she is being treated & we will vote for McCain or stay home. There are many of us Democrats who remain in the Party because of the Clintons, so hurt them & they hurt us.
There will be NO so-called unity, because we see how easy it was for Conventional Democrats to betray Hillary for a man no one knows nothing about( even now). I do believe there are many skeletons in Obama’s closet to be uncovered & they will by the Republican Party, & no insulation will protect him then.So I hope all the Dodds, Leahys, Richardsons & Pelosis had better stop insulting Hillary ,because they are the ones guilty of dividing the party, not Hillary. I do believe these folks hate the Clintons more than they love the party, because they have to know without Hillary’s supporters their surrogate will not get to THE BIG HOUSE!

Posted by: muncie | March 30, 2008, 3:04 pm 3:04 pm

Don’t yo just love it when all those who have been trying to hound Hillary out all this week go on all of the talk shows and do a 180 and say how much they want her to stay in! What do they think we are smoking or should I say what have they been smoking? The only reasons these old political hacks changed their tune is because of all the political blowback they are getting from women who are outraged that a bunch of old men are trying to force a woman out of the race! If Obama really thought that she should remain in the race why did he send all his hit men to try and kill her? Why did he not reject what Leahy said? No he did not change till he felt the heat from the internal polling that showed that what they were doing to Hillary was backfireing!
Ain’t it just like a man to try and tell a woman what she can or can’t do! Ain’t it just like a woman to put a man back into his place! You gotta love it!

The irresponsible media is to blame for all the lies about Obama’s record. The public is just now finding the truth, drip by drip, of the real Obama. Still, the media is not putting out the whole truth. It prefers to attack Hillary on a daily basis, exaggerating every little thing about her and her family, specially Pres. Clinton. The public would like to know more and hear more of Wright’s sermons, specially the ones delivered when Obama and his family were in attendance. How about more of the Rezko scandal – Obama used the Rezkos so he could buy his mansion. Now he says they were just acquaintances – that’s what I call a loyal friend; he’s an ingrate – helped him buy a mansion and contributed to his Illinois political career and beyond. The media should interview Mrs. Rezko to get to the truth. By now she must be mad that Obama has been dismissing them as mere acquantances. If Obama becomes the nominee, you can be sure the Republicans will dump all this stink and more on Obama and he’ll never survive it. That would be good punishment to the stupid Democrats for going overboard with this man. I hope they lose the white house, the upper house and the lower house. Down with Ted and Caroline Kennedy, and Maria Swarzzeneger and other Kennedys for Obama (all you care about is the Kennedy name), Lahey (I hope you get thrown out, too), Pelosi (Madame Speaker title went to your head, ), Kerry (I regret supporting your presidential candidacy), Daschle (glad you are now a has been), Howard Dean (get the heck out of the DNC chairmanship). Shame on all of you and shame on those who have been heckling and pressuring Hillary to drop out of the race. I will stop giving to the DNC, DCC and DLCC because I don’t want a penny of my contributions to go to politicians in racist States who voted en masse for Obama. The 28% Hillary supporters who will be voting for McCain will go up to 75+% if Obama is the nominee. In this coming election, I will cut my nose to spite the DNC – they are looking at 8 more years of Republican rule and if McCain chooses a strong VP, make that a total of 16 years under the Republicans. It will give the moronic DNC a long time to think about their idiotic choices.

Here’s today’s SERIOUS news:
Gallup Poll:
Barack Obama has extended his lead over Hillary Clinton among Democrats nationally to 52% to 42%, the third consecutive Gallup Poll Daily tracking report in which he has held a statistically significant lead, and Obama’s largest lead of the year so far.
Rasmussen Pol:
In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, it’s Obama 47% Clinton 42%. Clinton leads by ten among White voters. This includes a twenty-three point advantage among White Women. Obama leads among White Men, has an overwhelming advantage among African-Americans, and a solid lead among voters under 50.
Among all voters nationwide, McCain is now viewed favorably by 54% of voters nationwide and unfavorably by 44%. Obama’s reviews are 49% favorable and 48% unfavorable. For Clinton, those numbers are 42% favorable, 56% unfavorable.

And more factual news, from Texas.
By The Associated Press
Here is the apportionment so far of presidential caucus delegates to the Texas Democratic state convention based on reports from Saturday’s county and senate district conventions. A total of about 7,300 delegates were expected to be selected in this stage of the caucus process, according to the Texas Democratic Party.
These results are from 145 of about 280 conventions.
Clinton: 1,509 delegates, or 40 percent
Obama: 2,234 delegates, or 60 percent.

Earl, so you’re saying since Wright suffered, he gets a pass for poisoning the minds of several younger generations? Good values!
And what does Wright’s suffering have to do with his and his church’s adoration for Louis Farrakhan? Jews suffered too, and Farrakhan is the biggest anti-Jew out there.
So once again, nothing excuses Rev. Wright, therefore nothing excuses Barack Obama. Period. End of story.

In regards to Carolyn Grace’s post…It’s so sad that she, along with so many others are so blinded by everything that is real and truthful about Barack Hussein Obama. His involvemnent with Rev. Wright, Rezko, his false statements such as this one above, and the list goes on, etc. etc. Still harping on what Hillary said a few weeks back only to make herself feel better about the candidate she backs, who lacks…in clear EXPERIENCE. Hilarious really! What’s in your drinking water over there anyway Carolyn? Are you a member of his church? His campaign? Or just one of many who have not done your research and refuse to believe what’s real? Jake Tapper’s job is to report the truth even if so many people such as yourself Miss Grace, live in clear denial of anything that is “Truth.” Maybe if you woke up one day and made a conscious effort to live in the land of reality you would see things for what they really are and not in the fantasy land that you have created for yourself.

Just add this to the MANY lies and misrepresentations that Obama has told! Mr. Unity himself! The one so protected and slanted in the media, that we know nothing about him until AFTER we vote, and even then, the media continues to hide the facts regarding Obama and instead, spend 24/7 speaking negatively of Senator Clinton. WHERE IS THE FCC? WHERE IS THE “PUBLIC INTEREST” IN THIS TYPE OF MEDIA SLANT? THE FCC STATES THE “PUBLIC INTEREST” AND THE “RIGHT TO KNOW” ARE AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN GOVERNING THE MEDIA. THE FCC NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED! And now. WRITE THEM NOW!

Not quite the same ring but the same gist, if you ask me. This is another one of those nit-picky type things that “gotcha” journalists care about much more than real-life voters.

“Hillary’s St. Patrick’s Day Massacre” by Frank Rich has the story on why Obama leads 52 to Hillary’s downward trending 42%. And falling by the day. Like every day she lied about BOSNIA….TUZLA….And the lazy press didn’t catch for three months. And she acted like she would get away with it.
How can a campaign with a ‘war room’ not catch such a biggie? Because it was in on the LIE.

Dude, you need reliable sources. FYI, AOL’s poll means nothing, uses anyone’s computer and is not a scientific sample. Hence, the math and results are not a good representation of anything. Actually, it’s closer to the voting on American Idol. I Vote And I Vote Over And Over….
Rasmussen Obama 47. Hillary 42
Real Clear (average of week – and Obama went up strong at end of week) Obama 46, Hil 41. Only Gallup tests Every Day. And his trend is up in all RCP’s sources.
Use better media.

Someone needs to pass out Barack’s “Dreams” book to the general public (to see what a raving racist he is) as fast as Obama passes out the kool-aid.

Clinton lied about Bosnia repeatedly. This was not a “misstatement,” her pastor’s words, or a minor mistake. Obama has made mistakes, sure, but nothing compares to this kind of repetitious lie, which shows her character for the untrustworthy thing it is, and completely negates all of her claims of so-called experience. In terms of the Kennedy/Obama’s Father connection. This is the first time I have heard it and not a part of Obama’s stump speech. In addition, Obama clearly made an error by a year, but it is only partially incorrect. Kennedy strongly supported the very same education program which brought Obama’s father to the US. Also, Kennedy funds did pay off debts of his father’s studies in America, and therefore helped subsidize his education.

A lot of tings Obama is saying are not true: right now Obama is acting magnanimous saying I don’t agree with Laehy and others, Hillary should stay in the race as long as she wants, when behind the scenes he is calling people such as super delegate Bob Rankin and telling them he wants to end this NOW. See article on fox news.com; Bill Clinton says to chill

Why is this story not carried by mainstream media as they did with Clinton’s bonia story?
This is why Obama is no longer electable because he has not been vetted and will be crushed by the republican.

A key part of the Obama/Wright myth is also not true! Such as “it has been fully explained”. Wright is ‘just a crazy old uncle”. I ‘was never there for that stuff”, never heard about any of it, yet Michelle was there for sure for the post 9/11 “sermon”, she appears in that video.
Google a search for, RNA Movement Trinity Church Wright, you will see just how little the Wright matter has been explored.
The press is avoiding too much info. I have never seen one word anywhere about the RNA – Trinity Church – Muslim connection. If they will not delve into conflict, then individuals must.
The Republicans play full contact politics, as we all know. The connections mentioned above will be their “equipment”!
I have no way of knowing how deeply Wright’s “separatist movement” is ingrained in Obama. But I certainly know that “Separatist” is opposite of “uniter” by Webster’s or any other definition.
I do not like militants nor fanatics of any ilk. White, black, or otherwise, and certainly do not want to be even inadvertantly furthering their cause.
I also know that like a tumor, it is foolish to say it is “benign” until one has done a complete “work-up and a biopsy”!
Only then shall we know for sure.

It is almost laughable how Obama supporters continue to protect this fraud. And the Clinton Bosnia story is child’s play next to this candidates charade of “stories”, lack of experience, and his “unity” and “judgement” campaign jargon! He is a fraud and in the worst way. And he marched with Farankann and he also follows Rev. Meeks from Chicago. This man makes Wright look like a saint. And REzko, and Ayers, and the group he belonged to in Chicago that gave money to an Arab coalition! It is time for the American people to speak up to the DNC! Write letters! He has NO chance in November in the General Election. NONE! AND THIS IS NOT HILLARY CLINTON’S FAULT, OR HER SUPPORTERS FAULT, IT IS OBAMA’S! He made the choices and they were poor choices for a man that now wats to represent ALL Americans! If the voters in the next 10 contests and Puerto Rico do not wake up and send a CLEAR message by voting for Senator Clinton and the experience and EQUALITY she stands for; we will lose in November and by a landslide! Obama’s following of Wright and Meeks is not only ANTI white, but ANTI ALL RACES other than African Americans. The following of black theology is also Anti jewish and anti cathloics and anti Protesent. PLease take a look at this teaching, it states anti “eurochristianity.” That is the Cathloics and Protestent. Slurs have also been made agaist Italians! What I questioned most is this……..WHY WOULD BILL RICHARDSON, A MAN THAT HE SAYS REPRESENTS NOT ONLY ALL IN HIS STATE, BUT HISPANICS AND LATINOS AS WELL, ENDORSE THIS MAN! and the same for DODD, KENNEDY and many others! DO THEY UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF “UNITY FOR ALL” or only unity for the few select minority’s that this teaching represents. If they think he is inspiring with this type of beliefs, then they need not be holding office themselves! I think the democrat party has lost it! Truly! THey have put all the CORE BELIEFS of this party in the closet! And it is the MAJORITY of Democrats that believed in these core beliefs! I guess the next election, they will endorse a white or hispanic or asian supremist! Why not? It is exactly black supremacy that they have endorsed now! Even Kerry says Obama should get the Presidency “because he is black.” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? I voted for Kerry, and like many Obama voters that now have learned more about him and want their vote back; I wish I could have my Kerry vote back!No wonder he lost! IF THE DNC AND SUPER DELEGATES DO NOT GET IT TOGETHER AND FAST, THEY CAN KISS NOVEMBER GOOD BYE! AND IT WILL BE THE DOWNFALL OF THIS PARTY AND THE RECKONING OF MANY IN THEIR OWN PARTY! And I will not care. ENOUGH! and I mean enough! AND WITH THE HEAVILY SLANTED MEDIA, TOO!

Well, like I said the endorsement of Obama by the Kennedy’s was going to come back to haunt them. His campaign is a ‘fairy tale’. and he is the pipe Popper and Pinocchio. I wonder how long is his nose by now. Lie after lie after lie. He sat in the pew and never heard a thing. He took tainted donation money from Rezko, but he was the only one in Chicago that didn’t know Rezko was a player. He takes money from unregistered lobbyist, their families and business associated, because their unregistered its OK. He father airlifted in to America via the Kennedy’s , so his family. Where were the Kennedy’s and Kerry when the facts of Rev. Wright came out?

@Bobby “What about the Selma March he lied about?
He knows his birthday and he should know when the Selma March happened.”
If you read the whole speech which is on Obama’s website, it shows he didn’t lie.
The trouble some are having with that part of the speech lies with his use of the word “march”. In some cases in the speech, he uses it literally in the sense of people using their legs walking in a procession. In other places, he uses it more figuratively to collectively represent the African American Civil Rights movement. For example, one of the people he refers to within “they” as “marching” is Anna Cooper, an author who was dead before the Selma march happened and couldn’t possibly have “marched” in Selma.
Obama: “I’m here because somebody marched. I’m here because you all sacrificed for me. …. I thank the Moses generation.” Do you think Obama would be speaking to them if African Americans didn’t have the right to vote that the Selma march and previous Civil Rights activities helped bring about?
Obama wasn’t saying “My resume is so great, I got here on my own.” Obama was saying “if it wasn’t for people like you, I wouldn’t have got to where I am today.” He went beyond the airlift. It related to his education. It related to changing attitudes so that he could be elected. It related to Civil Rights African Americans acquired. Etc. Etc.

Real News-
Update: 56% who heard Obamas speech are less likely to vote for Obama? March 2008!

“Update: 56% who heard Obamas speech are less likely to vote for Obama? March 2008!”
19 Mar 2008 “A Rasmussen poll released this week showed that 56 percent of voters said Wright’s comments would make them less likely to vote for Obama”
We’re off topic but the point does bring it back on topic in a way:
When I listened to Obama’s speech on the economy in New York last week, it was a good speech and some received it well. But it was directed at the Wall Street types and Wall Street media – not directed to the blue collar worker. Obama gets great support from folks with higher education. His support is much poorer with less educated, blue collar workers.
I think this speech on Selma and other speeches he’s given and some of the problems that he’s had explaining Rev. Wright and this Selma speech partly relate to how Obama speaks. For those with more education and a broader vocabulary, I think they understand his “big words” and speaking style. For those lacking, they don’t. When they don’t, they mistrust and/or they don’t completely understand what he is trying to tell them. That generalization won’t apply to everyone but I get a sense that’s part of what’s going on here.
I do not mean that in a condescending way. Having a lot of experience in manufacturing, I’ve often found myself with more respect for the shop floor workers than those who manage them. They tend to be solid, direct, straight up folks more often than those who manage them who tend to be more into office politics, etc. To be successful communicating with the shop floor workers, you have to speak their language – cutting down on the syllables and sticking with the basic words they understand. In my opinion, this is a problem for Obama and one reason some have had a problem with his Selma speech.

“This doesn’t seem relevant. Can we elect a leader based on skills, vision, capabilities, and leadership? Obama will be one of our best presidents ever. This seems very in the weeds to me. People occasionally make minor mistakes. All people.”
Yes you are right. But Sen Obama is the only candidate I know who, with the help of media covers up his skeletons and projected himself as pure and holy and devoid of sins.

New rule; when Obama lies, it’s only an error. He’s the Messiah remember?

Posted by: irma | March 31, 2008, 4:22 pm 4:22 pm

Why is it that when Obama lies, it is just an “embellishment”?
He also lied about his father being a goatherder, when in fact he was a land-owning member of the upper class.
In his book, he also lied about the circumstances surrounding his first meeting with his half-sister (a NY Times interview with his half-sister mentioned this about half-way through, trying not to call attention to it).
He also lied about his first job out of college, saying he was the only African-American there, when in fact, a former work colleague listed all the other African-Americans in the company (and also said Obama greatly exagerrated the size of the company and the importance of the work).
He also lied in his book about his involvement in removing asbestos from community housing, when it was not him, but a much more experienced woman community organizer who did it all.
He lied about Rezko, oh, about 7 or 8 times, only gradually revealing the truth over the course of over one year.
He lied about his involvement as a board member of a fund that gave money to Palestinian organizations affiliated with Hamas and other terrorist groups.
He lied about how moderate he was and about the fact that he answered a Chicago non-profit’s questionairre about his views on various issues.
The guy is a liar: he is, in some ways, a pathetic kind of liar…he usually lies because he regards himself so highly that he thinks he is above everyone, that the rules don’t apply to him, that he is destined for greatness, that he is heroic. In other words, he lies because he is a total snob.
