Kos: Clinton Doesn’t Deserve ‘Fairness’

After a number of pro-Hillary Clinton diarists staged a boycott of the influential liberal website DailyKos, Markos "Kos" Moulitsas himself this morning posted his explanation as to why he’s been hostile to her candidacy.

The reasons are substantive — Clinton is a member of the DLC leadership, she "hasn’t just rejected a 50-state strategy, she has openly attacked it," she voted to authorize use of force against Iraq, she voted in favor of that Kyl-Lieberman Iran resolution, she takes money from lobbyists and PACs, Barack Obama has the support of grass roots activists, among other reasons.

"But I could deal with all of that, really, if Clinton was headed toward victory," Kos writes. "I see this as a long-term movement, and I’ve always expected setbacks along the way. Clinton isn’t the most horrible person in the world. She’s actually quite nice, despite all her flaws, and would make a fine enough president. If she was winning. But she’s not, and that’s the rub.

"First of all, the only path to victory for Clinton is via coup by super delegate. She knows this. That’s why there’s all the talk about poaching pledged delegates and spinning uncertainty around Michigan and Florida, and laying the case for super delegates to discard the popular will and stage a coup. Yet a coup by super delegate would sunder the party in civil war. Clinton knows this, it’s her only path to victory, and she doesn’t care. She is willing — nay, eager to split the party apart in her mad pursuit of power. If the situations were reversed, and Obama was lagging in the delegates, popular vote, states won, money raised, and every other reasonable measure, then I’d feel the same way about Obama. (I pulled the plug early on Dean in 2004.) But that’s not the case.

"It is Clinton, with no reasonable chance of victory, who is fomenting civil war in order to overturn the will of the Democratic electorate. As such, as far as I’m concerned, she doesn’t deserve ‘fairness’ on this site. .."

It goes on from there. Read it, it’s interesting.

Whatever, so your method is to silence anyone who does not side with your candidate, talk about CONTROL.

Uh-Oh. Here is more of what Kos says:
“Clinton and her shrinking band of paranoid holdouts wail and scream about all those evil people who have “turned” on Clinton and are no longer “honest power brokers” or “respectable voices” or whatnot, wearing blinders to reality, talking about silly little “strikes” when in reality, Clinton is planning a far more drastic, destructive and dehabilitating civil war.”
Yep. That about sums it up.
HRC’s path to the nomination is to Burn Her Own House Down

She’s also standing mute while the haters and right-wingers try to tar Obama with the outragouse statements of his MINISTER, for crying out loud! Based on his conduct so far, I think there’s a pretty good chance that if the situation were reversed Obama would come forward and say, “We have our differences, but this isn’t fair game.” Hold your breath waiting for Hillary to do something decent like that and you’ll die of asphyxiation.

Like the rest of the media, he’s totally in the tank for Obama. What a jerk. I feel sorry for HRC. She deserves better.

KOS, PELOSI, and MOVEON.ORG are attempting to wrest control of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, by buying and paying for their front guy, BARACK OBAMA. Isn’t this just an updated version of the DEANIAC COALITION? The blue collar workers of Pennsylvania will have their day, while all these folks sip their lattes.

In 1996, while running for re-election, Bill Clinton sent out a mass mailing to friends and prospective donors—including one to the Nation of Islam. In it, he invited Claudette Muhammad, who at the time was chief of protocol, to be on his steering committee. “It is my way of saying thank you for your past friendship and it is my way of asking you to join me in this new campaign,” he wrote. Muhammad reprinted the letter in a memoir; a spokesman for Clinton declined to comment.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH KOS!!!
In addition, if the roles were reversed, and it was Obama behind, the media (and the DNC leaders) would have kicked him from the race weeks ago!
Hillary is in this race because the media and the DNC continue to validate her being there. She whines about media fairness, but if they were being fair, they’d dismiss her like they did Huckabee.

Well said. I don’t even like Mitt Romney but he had the class to step aside for the good of his party. If he hadn’t the Republicans could very well be in the same shape as the Democrats. So we are stuck with an insidiously vindictive woman ruining the Democratic party. It’s too bad the party leadership won’t stand up and tell her to step aside. It’s truly a shame.

OMG! Now Hilary is getting bashed for NOT sticking up for Obama during this preacher issue?? I’ve heard everything now – Preacher Numbnuts was his advisor for 20 years .. why doesn’t he call Pastor Numbnuts for advice? What a joke – and his presidential downfall!

The truth hurts!

Posted by: Will | March 17, 2008, 2:47 pm 2:47 pm

JDS,
You just made a delusional statement. I’ve heard more than one superdelegate say they will vote for Clinton if she wins the popular vote. This is called “VOTER VALIDATION”, not press validation. Clinton can be expected to prevail in the popular vote by close to 500,000. If she doesn’t win the popular vote, and does not prevail, because of people like KOS, I will be writing in Al Gore’s name in the Fall election.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 2:49 pm 2:49 pm

We should boycott Hillary. I find this article statistically accurate.
I often wonder
Would Obama still be in this race if he had lost 12 in a row???
Would Obama still be in the race if poll suggested Hillary is more electable???
Would Obama still be in this race if Superdelegates were flocking to Hillary’s side?
Would Obama still be in this race if he lost 12 in a row BUT won Ohio???
NO. And so the fact that she’s still in this race demonstrates how bias the DNC really is.
So I completely agree with KOS.

Civil War was declared the day all the MSM turned as one for obama. I will never forgive or forget this in November 2008. Hillary 08

Janet,
I noticed that you highlighted Ms. Clinton’s gender with the VINDICTIVE WOMAN statement. Does the Obama team really think its going to neutralize its association with Reverend Wright by playing the gender card, as KOS seems to be doing as well. Nice try, people that do this are usually called REPUBLICANS.

Westie says “You never cease to amaze me with your willingness to take up arms with a potential future opponent.”
You are talking about the Clinton Camp getting in bed with Mr. Limbaugh and friends I presume……

Posted by: The Commander Guy | March 17, 2008, 2:53 pm 2:53 pm

Vanessa,
Here you go wading in from the EXTREME FAR RIGHT and you are going to jump in bed with the KOS? Good grief, KOS is giving the REPUBLICANS all the tools they need to attack the DEMS in the fall. Thanks KOS. We heard HILLARY CLINTON yesterday sasying keep it on the issues. KOS, you may be hearing but you are not listening!!

Some More Wonders
Would Obama still be in this race if he was behind in delegates, popular vote, and states?
Once again, the answer is NO

Posted by: Vanessa | March 17, 2008, 2:56 pm 2:56 pm

Commander Guy,
No I’m talking about YOU yourself, a former Huckabee supporter, getting in bed with the Obama camp. I have not yet heard you publicly disavow support for McCain yet.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 2:58 pm 2:58 pm

Kos thinks that he’s the “Desider” when it comes to who should President. We already have a idiot in the White House, and don’t choice, and Kas can go pound sand.

Posted by: J.Murphy, CA. | March 17, 2008, 2:58 pm 2:58 pm

VANESSA,
Based on your statement your man MCCAIN should have dropped out of the race after Iowa, or even six months before the contests started. BILL CLINTON was right, chill, let the voters decide. KOS does not want that, nor does VANESSA.

Wow, the power of Obama Religion! Vote for Obama or you are in trouble!

Posted by: df | March 17, 2008, 3:00 pm 3:00 pm

You all are ridiculous … saying “Kos should be shut down” because he printed the truth.
You all put “the Clintons” over the Party, the country, the open media, the facts… it doesn’t matter what…you all are so brainwashed… most of you probably have never considered another candidate because of this candidates last name…and because she was part of that administration that you fought the Republican attack machine on.
Sad… the superdelegates were actually put there more to protect from someone like the Clintons with their entrenched insider crap but unfortunately much of those entrenched are superdelegates. Thank God some of them have to be elected.

Posted by: dl | March 17, 2008, 3:00 pm 3:00 pm

WestCoastMessenger,
That doesn’t explain why Hillary is still in this race. The fact of the matter is, he’s right. If it were Obama in Hillary’s shoes and Hillary in Obama’s. Obama would have suspended his campaign weeks ago.
Then you have Hillary supporters calling the media bias.
If the media was bias. Hillary wouldn’t be in this. All the media has to do is play back scandal during the “clinton era” and she’s out.
Is time someone called Hillary on her bs

Posted by: Vanessa | March 17, 2008, 3:01 pm 3:01 pm

I’m an Obama supporter.
You know I’m right that’s why you keep bringing Republicans into this.

Winning? Yeah, he won TX in caucus by 10% while lost in popular vote by 4%, and he won WA in caucus by 37% while only won the popular vote by 4%? how many caucuses have he won?

Posted by: df | March 17, 2008, 3:05 pm 3:05 pm

I agree with this DailyKos writer. The fact that Obama’s money contributions, much like Ron Paul’s donations, has come from small donors carries a lot of weight as far as I am concerned. Clinton’s campaign is a machine run by special interests and promoted by viralent acid-tongued bloggers such as WestCoastMessenger and s.b. My gut tells me not to trust her with regards to doing what is best for the people of this country. How can she when she has been bought by special interests.

Posted by: antenian | March 17, 2008, 3:05 pm 3:05 pm

VANESSA,
Nice try again trying to squeeze that one in sideways. You are hopelessly stuck in the 90′s with the rehashed “scandals” invented by the Ken Starr crowd. Would you have us spend MILLIONS more studying these? Not going to happen. It’s a new day.

These silly obamabots why should Hillary step aside? When the GE is won through the electoral college votes, which Hillary has a large lead with her states she has won.

Posted by: toby | March 17, 2008, 3:08 pm 3:08 pm

ANTENIAN,
So you would discount the voters in favor of those who donate small amounts of money. That shows what you know about the average Democrat. The average Democrat cannot even afford to donate a nickel to a candidate that’s going to help them. These are the people that Hillary Clinton is standing up for. I’m glad that KOS has plenty of time to annoy us with his POSITION OF UNFAIRNESS on his retirement income.

I see Obama is working over time Now.
He is a man with no shame.
Make every one else look bad, so I look better.
He said he would do anything to become president. Only thing I beleive that he has said. Let’s watch how low he can go.
I wonder how far ophra’s purse strings have been stretched.

Hillary has been in the race because of the recent victory. It was the will of the voters and not Hillary herself. The people who writes these blogs do not understand the issue of the “Blue Collar” people who do not have time to read these blog and are very interested to get their next pay check and healthcare.
Again, when economy tanks and “White Collar” become “Blue Collar”, I think the demoted “White Collar” will have same views as today’s “Blue Collar”.

Posted by: Humm | March 17, 2008, 3:11 pm 3:11 pm

VANESSA,
That’s the first time I’ve actually heard you state that you support OBAMA. I’ve seen you throw out list after list of discounted “scandals”, right out of the Republican playbook. If you are indeed an OBAMA supporter, which indicates that OBAMA supporters are now stooping so low as to reach into the Republican playbook, it does not bode well for your candidate whatsover. It is not how he claimed he was going to do things.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 3:12 pm 3:12 pm

WestCoastMessanger, the Hillary lover, you are all other the place, could you take it easy and understand that Hillary has to get more than the popular vote to be able to win the nomination, delegates count is the most important thing in this race and Obama is wining them every day so he is the front runner and will be the nominee. No other speculation about that point and superdelagates know that very well. The will of the people is not the popular vote but the number of delegates acquired on proportional basis and you know that key point. Please do not create confusion. OBAMA08

Posted by: BKMC | March 17, 2008, 3:12 pm 3:12 pm

I assure you that more than half of the Democratic party wants our most qualified candidate – Hillary, to be our nominee.
If the Clintons had not been unfairly smeared all along by the immensely hypocritical, outrageously ridiculous, and unrespectable double standards of the Obama campaign – this would be even more clear at this point.
If the Clintons were so racist, why would Maggie Williams be one of Hillary’s most important and trusted Aides? Last time I checked, she was a woman of color. (Not that is matters, but it is a fact.)
There are many of us in the Democratic party who want Hillary to be our nominee. There are many who haven’t had a voice yet, many whose voices weren’t even heard or given a vote in the caucus states. And all those who try to blame this all on Hillary – are being quite thoroughly juvenile.
Those of us who know the real Hillary, and know she is an extremely dedicated caring woman, are not a bunch of paranoid “holdouts,” we are more than half of the Democratic party, and albeit – largely the wiser, older half.
Hillary knows that she has as many if not more supporters than Barack, and that we are counting on her not to give up for us. She knows, as we do, that she is our most qualified candidate. And she knows, as we do, that she is the one most qualified and in the best position to beat McCain.
The Superdelegates are the experts of the party. If it was only a matter of who won the most delegates, we wouldn’t have Superdelegates. It is up to the Superdelegates to pick which candidate has won the most votes and, is in the best position to beat the Republicans.
Barack is in no position to beat the Republicans, this election. The Repulicans will portray him as an “inexperienced anti-war liberal,” and in such a time of crises, most of the swing voters will not want to take a chance on such an unknown candidate.
The Republicans have so much ammo against him now. They will not let him forget, Rezko or the Preacher. You can bet they have it all documented. Now Fox News is after him, and they’ve only just begun…

Posted by: Lauren | March 17, 2008, 3:13 pm 3:13 pm

I agree. The only reason Hillary is still in it is because she is willing to fight dirty to get it. Her campaign repeatedly relies on voter ignorance. That’s grostesque, frankly. So bring it on, I say. Let’s see your dirtiest best, dear. We’ll laugh while we watch you burn down your own throne. Good thing too since we aren’t into thrones in America.

Posted by: Johnny | March 17, 2008, 3:14 pm 3:14 pm

Kos and the rest of the media (that there has been so much spin on about them being so one sided to Obama…) is just had it with the blinders…and the accusations that if you report the facts and Hilary supporters and her angry machine will come down on them.
“Enough!” is what he is saying.
If Obama, Biden, McCain, Dodd, Kucinich, Edwards…any of them had as many scandals and had driven on this long driving the fight over the good of the party and they were losing… well it’s a mute point …none of them would have done this.
Which goes back to why you are going to see more and more “MSM” getting less afraid of people saying they are biased because what KOS said was the truth. I bet pretty soon you will start to see all the candidates who ran coming out of the woodwork and saying the same thing.
If anybody had done what Sen Clinton is doing now…because they have so many supporters…well yes…the most popular, successful and notable Dem official we have is married to her.
She is going to have support inherently …from day one… Stop saying it is all because she is the best person to represent an image of the country (Obama does that better) …her experience (Dodd and Biden do it better)… she’ll get things done…again Dodd and Biden did it better…and her judgement Richardson, Dodd Biden Edwards and most of all Obama did it better.
You all are destroying the party with your lack of self awareness.

Westie -
These Kos fellows seem to know what they are talking about when I saw them on the TeeVee a couple of years ago. So you should pay close attention to them. And I don’t think they like HRC going all tag team with El Rushbo and Sean Hannity.
Matter of fact William Jefferson Clinton went on the Rush Limbaugh program the day of Texas Primary to help drag Hillary across the finish line. True story. You can find the link and listen to interview by using The Google.
So you can see why the candidate so many people disavow is …….. HRC!

Posted by: The Commander Guy | March 17, 2008, 3:16 pm 3:16 pm

Hillary is in the race because WE want her in the race despite the Obummers attempt to intimidate, harrass, distract, acuse, lie, impersonate hope and instigate racial division just the few signs of “Change” that we won’t allow to be FORCED on us.

Posted by: Johnny | March 17, 2008, 3:17 pm 3:17 pm

First, if the situation were reversed Obama would still be fighting the way Hillary is, regardless of what the KOS does or says. This is not Howard Dean. Hillary has almost as many votes as Obama and still might surpass him. Neither can achieve the majority needed withouth superdelegates. This is not some blow out election, this is close, neck and neck. KOS seems to forget how many millions have voted for Hillary. She may not win, but we want her to keep fighting because this is our party too, even if we are the working class and not the educated elite like KOS!

Posted by: Sam | March 17, 2008, 3:19 pm 3:19 pm

Obama is a nice gullible guy. He need to learn to navigate and react quickly to voter’s problem. He is still noodling on the old issues.
Kos has amnesia as millions of people along with Hillary supported Iraq war. Decision was not based on some preacher’s influence but fact presented by Collin Powell.

S.E. CROFT,
You are doing another drive by. If you are going to convince me please put up some facts. It’s all about convincing the voter. By the way, since you are a FLORIDA voter, why is it the OBAMA campaign, the DAILY KOS, and NANCY PELOSI do not want the FLORIDA vote to count? For them it is is not about listening to the voter, it’s about their own arrogance. The DEMOCRATIC PARTY will win the day on this one.

Sam,
Well said. You’ve totally earned my respect.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 3:22 pm 3:22 pm

P.S. this current fight in the party is not so much about race or gender as it is about class. Of course Obama has the working class African Americans, and I understand why – if I were AA I would probably vote for him too. But the rest of the working class whites and Latinos and others should have a voice too, and our candidate (who speaks directly to our needs and concerns) should be allowed to continue to fight when the election is so close.

Posted by: Sam | March 17, 2008, 3:22 pm 3:22 pm

Once again you avoid my question.
This is Hillary supporters problem. I DO NOT speak for Obama. I would like Obama to push hard at Hillary, may be throw some of that “kitchen soup” in her face.
But Obama is a bigger person then both Hillary and I.
The reason I brought up those scandal are, these are the EXACT scandals the Republicans we use against her.
She has SO much baggage that comes along with her. Mostly because of Bill. But we all know, with Hill comes Bill.
And last, how does this not bode well for Obama???
I’m glad you think so highly of me that I can affect his candidancy.
The fact of the matter is, he’s leading in states (30-14), popular vote (700,000+ according to CNN), and delegates (169)

no westcoast
they have hesitations about Florida because now Sen Clinton is trying to spin the situation as she is “fighting for the voters”
She is fighting for the votes.
If she was cared about those voters she would have fought for their votes when it counted …when she signed an agreement stating their votes wouldn’t count.
Now she is playing like she is their hero…
Everyone knows that Hillary won on the Clinton name and recognition. that was that way in every state before people got to meet the candidates. Unfortunately now she has twisted it even further.
Yeah she cares about the voters legitimate ability to have their voices heard…it is all about Sen Clinton.

West Coast Messenger…as a 50 year old woman and the mother of a teenage daughter I can spot a vindictive woman when I see one and Hillary Clinton is definitely the epitome of one. She is hurting women everywhere with her nasty campaign tactics and “victim” behavior. Frankly, I’ve had enough of her (although when the campaign began I would have been happy with her or Obama).

Posted by: Janet | March 17, 2008, 3:31 pm 3:31 pm

I have read where some of you are bashing Clinton for not sticking up for Obama’s minister. What? Stick up for the man who said that the Clintons did to the AA community what Bill did to Monica? (With lewd gestures) Or the minister who said, “God damn America?” That’s the minister you want Senator Clinton to stand up for? Or you want her to turn the other cheek and make a public statement that Senator Obama’s friend, mentor, pastor for 20 years, does not speak for him? You Obama folks are truly off your rocker. As far as Kos goes, he needs to remember that in the end, Clinton will have the popular vote. And after 2000, does the DNC really want to award the nomination to the delegate winner or the popular vote winner? Think about it Kos? Additionally, look in your own back yard for divisiveness, sir. I and Senator Clinton have been called many, many vile sexist names in the comments section of your blog. As a result, I went from a daily reader to one who will not ever click on dailykos again.

Johnny you obviously don’t read everyone’s posting…
If Sen Clinton hadn’t screwed it all up with her twisting and spinning…it wouldn’t have been such an issue.
If Sen Clinton had lost what do you think she would be saying. You think she would be saying the voters votes need to count.
No unlike Obama she would fight it to the death not to allow themn to be counted.
So enough…Obama is trying to work it out…all of Sen Clinton supporters are just still being …well…what ever this is your being.

Why should Hillary drop If this had just started her call to drop out maybe I could go along with it but from the start of this race Hillar and her supporters were treated like we did not count and like we have not been a part of this Democratic party well I have for thirty years and anyone who thinks he will make it in November without the base of the party those of us who work ten hrs six days but will stand in line and wait to vote are just damm stupid.

The Obama activist do like control. They just assume they are in the right and everyone else just needs to get with their opinions. Maybe they haven’t noticed that Hillary Clinton has tons of support and a majority of those happen to be women with a great deal of life experience.

Posted by: raf | March 17, 2008, 3:55 pm 3:55 pm

WestCoastMessenger – Yes I do believe that many small donors like myself, don’t know about you, should carry more weight than a single large PAC donor. I also believe that an overwhelming majority of democrats can afford to give at least a nickel to a campaign to show there support if they choose to. Unfortunately a nickel isn’t what it used to be, just ask that Paul character.

Posted by: antenian | March 17, 2008, 3:56 pm 3:56 pm

Before the preacher incident I would have said Obama could definitely beat McCain, but now he will not win the general election, the democrats are going to screw themselves if they have Obama as their nominee. You are going to regret not backing Hillary.

Posted by: traci | March 17, 2008, 4:01 pm 4:01 pm

traci – My guess is that Obama has a good chance against McCain. McCain wants to keep us in Iraq for 100 years if that is what it takes. He also is belligerent towards Iran. I don’t think many folks are going to go for that language come election time. I am an independent who does not support Obama, Clinton or McCain so I am just telling it like I see it. I am writing in Ron Paul who has no chance.

Daily Kos is the FAR LEFT wing of the democratic party, which essentially is the Obama wing of the party. And Daily Kos has stated that Clinton doesn’t deserve fairness. Which is exactly what the Obama supporters are repeating in their own blogs. This, in my opinion, is the ultimate selling of ones soul for expediency over truth. For I believe when truth is comprised then neither Daily Kos nor Obama can possibly benefit because everything about Obama and his campaign is now suspect.

You make a good point antenian, I just have a feeling that the preacher problem will just get worse for Obama in the general election. It really surprised me to see that Obama would have this man as his pastor and it raises questions for me, and I wonder which way other Independents will go. I would definitely vote for Hillary over McCain, but if it’s between Obama and McCain I may just stay home.

So lets get this right…why are we assuming that Obama will be leading in Popular Vote and Delegates by June? Why do KOS, Pelosi, Obamatons and Obama think they have wrapped this up?
Here is a reminder for all the dreaming Obamatons, there is something called Voting that needs to be completed and we have a long way to go.
Last time I checked, Obama was stammering on National TV about his Race and Money laundering scandals with Crazy Uncles Rezko and Wright.

It’s clear that the Obama people think Hillary Clinton doesn’t deserve fairness by the way they’ve lied about her and disparaged her accomplishments. Being someone who embraces democratic values because I believe in fairness, this was a major repellent. When I saw how ugly it was, I turned off Obama to the point I would not vote for him in a general election. I would not vote for McCain either so my vote would have to go to Nader. Who knew?

Posted by: hopeful1 | March 17, 2008, 4:25 pm 4:25 pm

VANESSA,
I checked that link and it does not say when the poll was taken, nor its margin of error, sloppy reporting. Fortunately, we rely on the voters not the polls to make decisions. COUNT ALL THE VOTES!! By the way, the polls have been mysteriously slanted towards Obama even in cases where Hillary prevailed, cases in point, Ohio, Texas, New Hampshire, Arizona, and Nevada, to name a few.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 4:27 pm 4:27 pm

COUNT all DEMOCRATS!!! Anything less is offensive. The KOS MAFIA is acting offensively.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 4:30 pm 4:30 pm

Obama is confident that Hillary supporters will support him and not vice versa.
Obama is confident of winning the nomination.
Obama thinks he can beat McCain.
Now if you share his confidence, why bother crying for Hillary to quit? After all, Obama is the great uniter and all of hillary’s supporters will support him anyway. There’s no cause to worry that her continued race will tear the party apart.
In fact, I’ll go so far as to say, what better way for him to define himself? A diamond needs to be cut for it to shine.

Posted by: QQMOAR | March 17, 2008, 4:38 pm 4:38 pm

Look under McCain name, it say, 47.
My God.

Vanessa-Are you reading Daily Kos polls? My entire point is, I can find any poll I wish.

Posted by: Dogsoldier | March 17, 2008, 4:40 pm 4:40 pm

Yet another example of the Clinton scorched earth campaign. They’ve already lost the nomination, but if they can’t have it, they will either try to stage a coup or destroy the Democratic Party forever by trying.
Want proof? Just scroll up and look at all the venom and vitriol coming from the Clinton Cult members. This isn’t discourse, it’s character assassination at it’s most base. It is also very, very, very, VERY sad to read.

Posted by: Texas Voter | March 17, 2008, 4:42 pm 4:42 pm

My point is, Obama is beating both Hillary and McCain in every poll.
This news was directed to the Hillary supporters who wished to know the effect of the Rev. Wright situation to the Obama campaign.
I just delivered the news.

Posted by: Vanessa | March 17, 2008, 4:43 pm 4:43 pm

Again and again and again -
The obama cult follower have to bash Hillary Clinton. All the garbage drops out of obama’s bags and it is Hillary’s fault.
Wow – a true cult leader with a mass of cult followers.
Drop out obama – do the USA a great favor and just drop out of this race and the TRUE AMERICANS will have the right candidates and a true election.
Drop out obama
Then go and caucus with the Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the governor of Massachusetts, Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry
Please drop out.

It is amazing to see the democrats go after each other. I will make a prediction: If Hillary wins, most of Obama’s support will go to her. If Obama wins, most of Hillary’s support will go to him. After all you want a democrat to win so badly. Let us also not forget that the democrats have been motivated to go to the polls in much greater numbers than the republicans. I don’t know who they are calling up for these polls, but I believe the republicans will loose across the board come election time.

Posted by: antenian | March 17, 2008, 4:53 pm 4:53 pm

The Hillary supporters here think she’s been treated unfairly. The Obama supporters think that they’ve been treated unfairly. The Hillary supporters say their voices weren’t hear din the caucuses. The Obama supporters say that Hillary supporters had every chance to show up at the caucuses. The Hillary supporters think that they can beat John McCain because of experience. The Obama supporters think that Hillary can’t win on the experience issue ‘cos John McCain just has so much more of it.
That beguiles the point of the article!!
The fact is, Hillary is in a position where she has a 5% chance of winning, and only by a coup of the superdelegates against the popular will. Any other candidate would have dropped out by now, if only for the good and unity of the party. Yet, she is still in there… with a campaign that has become increasingly dirty against a fellow democrat. That is the point Markos was trying to make, and, as usual, falls on deaf ears in the Hillary camp.
Face it, her campaign blew it! She had all the advantages coming in, and the only reason she’s even hanging in there is because her campaign has gone dirty, hurting the Democratic Party as a whole. The last point is a reality that the superdelegates cannot ignore, which i probably why not one superdelegate has come towards Clinton since February 5th.

Posted by: Mike | March 17, 2008, 4:56 pm 4:56 pm

Mike
The first rule in politics is to able to influence people. If Hillary is able to influence Superdelegate’s between June and the Convention to get the nomination, she deserves the nomination. Dont you think so?

Texas Voter,
What planet have you been on? The scorching has been strongly opinionated people, either supporting OBAMA or posing as OBAMA supporters, attacking HILLARY CLINTON, lacking any factual arguments, just based on conjecture, superstition, and 1990′s Republican card tricks. I’m hearing the CLINTON camp argue with logic, facts, rationale, and patience. Read it however you want, but there is grave misperception somewhere.

Vanessa,
Let’s assume for a minute that the poll was taken today. Then I have to look at the bias of the pollster. CNN is based in Atlanta, Georgia. A CNN people, walking around the city of Atlanta, a city with a substantial African-American population, is going to reflect an Obama bias. This is just reality. How do you explain all the mysterious polls that get reversed when there is an actual vote. The time has come to COUNT all the DEMOCRAT VOTES, past, present, and future.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 5:22 pm 5:22 pm

DIA,
I take it you don’t want to count the rest of the Democratic votes? Do you call yourself a Democrat?

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 5:23 pm 5:23 pm

WestCoastMessenger,
What???
You obviously making no sense right now. This is a NATIONAL POLL, not a poll for Georgia. CNN surveyed people for different states that’s why it’s a NATIONAL POLL.
oh wow
If it was primarily based in Georgia, the margin would have been MUCH larger (AA population).
Just take it like it is. Hillary is losing again.

Posted by: Vanessa | March 17, 2008, 5:26 pm 5:26 pm

Vanessa,
CNN consistently gets it wrong. How do you explain all the polls that magically get reversed on election day?

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | March 17, 2008, 5:28 pm 5:28 pm

DIA
1. Why did the elections in FL and MI get preponed?
2. Who ran campaign ads in FL?

Posted by: MattOhio | March 17, 2008, 5:33 pm 5:33 pm

DIA,
This isn’t about HILLARY CLINTON. It is about fundamental DEMOCRACY. DO you really believe for one minute that the DEMOCRATIC PARTY is going to disenfranchise Florida and exclude their votes? That would be phenomenally stupid. What would happen in fall election? This isn’t about what HILLARY CLINTON wants, its about what DEMOCRATS require, deserve, and will get. Let’s COUNT ALL DEMOCRAT votes. Not just the ones that KOS wants, not just the ones that DIA wants, and not just the ones that VANESSA wants. This is DEMOCRACY by GOD!

Vanessa – you need to get out more. A lawsuit has been filed by a FL delegate against the state democratic committee and the DNC.
Also, since you like to quote polls:
The RCP average has now turned in Clintons favor nationally 7/10 of a percent. That is a huge change over the last two weeks even though it is still a virtual tie.
The USA Today poll out today has Clinton beating both Obama and McCain.

In fact, things are looking even better by the numbers. WSJ and Newsweek polls are showing Clinton taking a lead in the dem race and would beat McCain. It will be interesting to see what the polls will show next week.

I got that e-mail as well. I feel very sorry for all Florida Democrats.
Karen Thurman writes: ‘The last thing America needs is a third Bush term.’
One would suppose that to THE issue every Democrat agrees on.
But I just saw DCVoter declare that he would for McCain (Thurman’s ‘third Bush term’) if Hillary wouldn’t get the nomination.
I’m truly shocked by such a statement, for I know how many people in this country cannot afford to have another Republican President in office for four more years. There’s true despair in our country, a lot of families simply need help and they need it soon. I can’t or maybe don’t want to believe that Democrats would favor the GOP over the opponent of their nominee of choice, be it Hillary or Obama.

Posted by: Democrat | March 17, 2008, 7:35 pm 7:35 pm

Ok you knee-jerk Obama supporters have you really listended to your “messiah’s” rhetoric. We are going to solve our economic problems by giving tax breaks to the middle class and take tax breaks away from the elites. We are going to spend the money (which Bush has insanely borrowed from the Chinese and the Saudis) wasted in Iraq on our “infrastructure”..no new taxes, no sacrifices we will just take our “overdrafts” and apply it to bridges, roads and of course health-care. Hillary may have some pie in the sky also but she is more specific in dealing with the mortgage crisis and other key segments of the economy. You are in love with the “idea” of Obama and not Obama’s “ideas. If you want to atone for your “white” guilt about all the evils done to Black Americans do some work out in the community rather than give Mccain a free ride with an opponent who is not ready for “prime time”.

That doesn’t make DCVoter a bad person. it means he is very angry. LOL. I have friends who are Republicans and think John McCain is the cat’s meow. We just can’t talk politics. LOL The truth is the platforms of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are not that far apart. We all know that. I am deeply troubled by Rev. Wright’s racist rantings and Obama’s closeness to the man for such along time. As I posted on another Political Punch thread, I think this is still Baraack Obama going through his racial identity crisis as he profiled in his own books. It is playing out now, unfortunately on the political stage. What is it that his sister Maya has said about him? He walks in two differnt worlds. Yes, he does. I still want ot get a psychoanalysts interpretation of this man. I cannot figure him out!

Democrat,
I, too, am horrifed by what has happened in Florida with their Republican state legislature actually orchestrating the date so that Florida Democratic voters in the primaries would not be counted.
Now that should be a call to arms for all Democrats. It should not matter whether you support Obama or Clinton. It is wrong! It is corrupt! It is certainly not democratic!

Posted by: marie | March 17, 2008, 8:17 pm 8:17 pm

So he says Clinton has “no reasonable chance of victory”?
And that she’s “eager to split the party apart in her mad pursuit of power”?

More than likely, Hillary will have the lead in the popular vote even if she doesn’t catch up in the delagate count. To me the person who got the most votes should be just as important as who got the most delagates. If you look at a state primary, they always declare the person who got the most votes the winner.
I got an email today about Hillary supporters boycotting msnbc. Besides their biased coverage (people are calling it the Obama network)they now have a spot on their home page where obama is registering voters. Over the line! I am participating in the boycott, please join us!

Posted by: rob | March 17, 2008, 8:51 pm 8:51 pm

Well I guess you have to at least give Kos credit, he’s doesn’t pretend to be fair like the rest of the media, at least he’s honest about his bias. The rest have hated Clinton from Day One, shall we say, but pretended to be fair. It took a comedienne to shame them into doing their job. Their complacency and bias got us in this mess with the pastor, if they would’ve done their job back in January we’d have a nominee by now, instead we’re almost stuck with a surefire general election loser. But I guess this mess sells papers too. Congrats to the MSM and the democrats, you figured out a way to make a complete mess of what should have been a no-brainer cake walk to the White House. Maybe Wright is right, this country does suck just not for the reasons he thinks.

Gee, I hate to get back on topic here, but: Kos never pretended to be the New York Times. He’s got his constituency, and he’s sticking to it. He says stuff that needs to be said about the DLC and their girl. He’d be crazy to let Hillary bloggers turn the web site into some kind of op-ed page managed with pretend neutrality and balance. As he points out, that brand of even-handedness has led the MSM into the alternate reality of the Clinton campaign, which insists that, facts be damned, this race is a dead heat.

Posted by: phillygirl | March 17, 2008, 10:53 pm 10:53 pm

Its time to face facts. More people have supported OBAMA over Hillary. OBAMA is the true front runner even the super delegates are realizing it. They gave Hillary all the time in the world to catch up. More time than any other candidate but the people spoke otherwise. Even Republicans were instructed to vote for her because they think she is easier to beat and yet OBAMA still came out on top. It has been decided. Lets move on.

Posted by: John Jamison | March 17, 2008, 11:00 pm 11:00 pm

Kos may think Hillary doesn’t have a chance, but he should take a look at Obama! Wright’s resounding condemnation— “God damn America” is Obama’s death knell, wringing in our collective ear.
It did not have to be this way.
Obama chose the Reverend; the Reverend chose his words; words matter and choices bear consequences.
Who among us believes that America created HIV/AIDS? That America is to blame for 9/11? That America deserves God’s damnation rather than God’s blessing? These are the teachings of Obama’s spiritual mentor!
Obama says he did not know. His claim on innocent ignorance defies credibility.
What we have in Obama is a man with disturbing beliefs who is willing to lie about them to gain the Presidency of the United States.
What is his agenda?

Apparently 2 state senators voted against it.

According to RealClearPolitics, on a national level, Mc Cain wins over Obama and loses to Hillary.
And this has just started. Obama’s numbers have nowhere to go but down.

Kos is a shill. He’s a self important air head with a potty mouth. As a christian, it’s disconcerting to hear the words they use over there. Grow up, Kos. You shouldn’t have to use curse words every other word in order to point something out. There is a way to speak and make yourself sound intelligent. That is by not using those words.

The sad part is that Kos and others can not be bothered to question why Obama TOOK PAC and special interest and lobbyist money (and Rezko money) for all his past campaigns including his US Senate race and why he does not take the money now as well as actually callling BULLSHIT on the “i don’t take lobbyists money” when Obama does but as long as the person is not a “federal registered lobbyist”

Posted by: Eric | March 18, 2008, 1:16 am 1:16 am

downhill, the change back up in the rcp average is because cnn all of a sudden comes out with a pseudo-poll showing obama up big. zogby did the same thing in california, to try to create an impression that his guy (obama) was winning and try to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. that’s what the corrupt ones do. it doesn’t make it real. if you want real info, read real polls.

Posted by: so saddened | March 18, 2008, 2:55 am 2:55 am

I love it. For 6 weeks, Obama beats Clinton in 95% of the polls versus McCain. The day he slips behind, the entire Clinton crowd comes running out with, “look at the polls, look at the polls”.
How about the SUSA state-by-state matchups?
A poll this early means very little. If the poll showed McCain beating Obama or Clinton 75/25, there would be a real problem. At this point, there are political lifetimes between here and November — As we’ve seen, since the same HRC posters neglect to point out that the same Gallup/Rasmussen polls had Obama at an all-time high just last Thursday, and with all-time differentials before that.

vanessa, i keep reading your posts and wondering if your college will give you a refund. (i know you claim to be 17, but your incessant posting belies that – what responsible parent would allow their teenager to be up in the middle of the night doing this, night after night…)
re polls, there are many out there. some are trustworthy, some are not. for instance, zogby has quite a reputation, not a good one (and ties to obama). cnn and msnbc have made their opinions more than clear – and polls are only as good as the pollsters. also, methodology matters – internet polls are completely worthless, for obvious reasons. questions can be, and are, skewed to elicit the desired results, etc., etc.
anyone with any education knows that to selectively choose only the numbers that support your position is intellectually dishonest. btw, pollsters generally make their methodology and questions available. a little research, plus a little educated analysis is often very revealing.
i say all of this in the hope that, despite your obvious commitment to supporting obama no matter what, at some point in the future you might be open to objective analysis. if not, sorry to hear it.

Posted by: so saddened | March 18, 2008, 3:10 am 3:10 am

james, you are right about the long time between now and november. much can happen. that is NOT in obama’s favor, as he can expect his numbers to drop as he continues to be exposed. nevertheless, some of us are responding with current polling information, to clear up any misconceptions by those who are putting out selective and false information.
re last week’s high ratings for obama – yes. but dropping rapidly since the wright thing became public.

Hey guys,
We’re making some ads and thought it’d be a great idea to reach across the aisles to our brethrens on the left. Would any of those approving and supporting Rev. Wright and Obama’s 20-year relationship with this man like to make an appearance in our ads?
We guarantee you’ll have complete freedom to express your righteous conviction that all whites living in America today should feel forever guilt-ridden and thus morally obligated to welcome the racism and hatred that is directed at them by all groups that have historically suffered.
And that terrorist attacks like 9/11 are events that serve to absolve the privileged white people of their historical sins by giving them the opportunity to experience cruel suffering and loss themselves.
Also that it is indeed a sign of a generous, liberal consciousness on the part of enlightened white folks to accept the extremist racial ideology, however factually false they may be, that things like AIDS and crack cocaine were invented as instruments of genocide against African Americans.
I think these are all wonderfully inspiring messages that we all would just die to unite around!
Thanks and see you in November!
Love you guys, and oh, those Obama chants are just music to my ears!

People so out of wack like KOS supporting Barak Obama, in the name of CHANGE, I want Hillary Clinton in the White House more than ever, if for nothing else but to clean up this sort of trash littering America!

Posted by: charleschaplin | March 18, 2008, 9:47 am 9:47 am

Self-appointed, self-righteousness is a difficult and risky stance in this day and time. Pundits have been announcing the outcome of this campaign since before the candidates announced their candidacy. To date they have been wrong, really wrong.
The daily Kos is ticked because “Hillary isn’t …;or won’t …; and she will lose”. This conduct is nothing more that a little boy “fit”. I see small curled fists and small feet slamming against the floor. She won’t quit, I hate her, I hate her… sorry that was Chris Matthews some time ago.
The often cited, “Hillary can’t win!” mantra is largely ignored by those of us who know better. However, this repetitive statement seems to meet the needs of the spoiled boy media who just can’t quite figure out why this “woman” won’t stop, quit, give up, go away….
It’s not over. The media doesn’t know better than the rest of us. The media does not elect the president, unless we let them. This is just the beginning of a close look at Obama and a variety of other issues.
Kos and the rest of the boys need to take a break and relax and let the rest of us make up our minds based on the facts and the candidates statements as we see and hear them.

Posted by: AmazonTraveler | March 18, 2008, 10:08 am 10:08 am

All the arguments that Kos presents in order to support seems fradulant. First, it not only Hillary 74% of Americans supported the invasion of Iraq in the beggning. Super delegates should and supposed to act on their own, that’s why they were made that way. There’s no conspiracy!Kos, you candidate Barak accepted contributions from lobbyists and other iinfluence peddlers. Mr. Obama used to accept private jets flights from big corporations until very recently. Tony Rezko is a long time friend and fund raiser for Sen. Barak Obama. Few days ago Mr. Obama himself finally acknowledged as much as $250,000 was contributed by Rezko to his campaign. Tony Rezko 52, is a Syrian immigrant who became a property developer and political fixer in Chicago. He is accused of using an accomplice on two state boards to demand kickbacks from companies that sought to do business with the state. Mr Rezko has known Mr Obama since 1990 and was one of the earliest fundraisers for his political career. ABC news reported that Mr. Rezko received about 100 Million worth of property housing project deals from the district that Mr. Obama represented. The two also became entwined in a controversial property deal in 2005, a year after Mr Obama was elected to the US Senate, in which the Obamas bought a mock-Georgian home and Mr Rezko’s wife bought the adjoining garden. “When Sen. Barack Obama decided to buy a stately $1.65 million home last year on Chicago’s South Side, Tony Rezko and his wife wasted no time. The same day the Obamas closed on the house, the Rezkos closed on the purchase of the adjoining vacant lot, which once was the estate’s lush side yard.” Chicago Tribune said. The Obamas bought their house for more than quarter of a million dollars less than the market price. Prosecutors claim that Mr Rezko effectively controlled decisions by the Teachers Retirement System, which manages Illinois teachers’ $30 billion pension fund, and the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, which must approve all building permits involving hospitals. A longtime friend and fundraiser of Barack Obama is now threatening to derail the Democratic front-runner’s presidential campaign, although Mr. Obama now renounces his long time buddy; Tony Rezko and calls his dealings with Rezko, “A bone-headed mistake!”Say no more KOS, we understand! We feel sorry for your lack of ablity to reason. Fairness and like democracy is an Anglo-American sensibility! Such concepts are deeply rooted in culture and upbringing and education. Although I feel sorry for you and what you lack as a person, but good education can help you overcome your inadequacy! I am so glad you are not supporting Hillary Clinton! Hillary 08!

Hillary is in the race to Spoil it for Obama, she already said if she do not win then McCain would be a better president. This women basically sold out the Dem party. This makes me feel she is not a true Dem at heart. The good thing about this primary season was that Americans really got to see the true character of this women, which fits with her high neg ratings. Kos is right she doesn’t deserve fairness, simply because she does not know the meaning of the word.

We all know that Hillary supported the resolution that ultimately was used to authorize war — bad on her, and its hurt her immeasurably with the “progressive” wing of the Democrats. But as repeated over and over, Obama, once in the Senate, never voted against a bill to continue funding for the war, and on Kyl-Lieberman his vote was. . .absent. As for the superdelegates, their job is to pick the candidate who, in the exercise of their best judgment, has the best chance of winning the election in November, not to blindly follow “the will of the people,” especially in a close race like this. If Hillary wins big in PA and has a strong showing in the other upcoming primaries, while she may not have a majority of delegates, she certainly can make a credible case that she’s the best candidate to win in November. Of course a lot can happen between now and the convention, including how serious the repercussions are from the Wright/Obama matter. Right now the controversy shows no signs of dying down. Will Obama put it to bed in his PA speech? We’ll see.

has everyone forgotten -Exelon Corp. The largest nuclear plant in the country.(in the state of Illinois)
The corporation that donated several hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Obama campaign. The Nuclear Information Release Bill that Obama sponsored yet watered it down to suit the Exelon Corp.Obama was the major sponsor of that Bill.
Again, how forgetful one’s memory becomes to suit their cause.
Obama took lobbyist money from this corporation.
Who said Obama doesn’t take money from lobbyist.
Research and find more of the lobbyist money he has taken

As far as I’m concerned, the democratic party has already decided that their rules are more important than including the votes from voters in 2 states. The fact that Obama chose to remove his name from the ballot and not be counted in Michigan’s voting was his decision. When the party rules take precedence over the will of the voters in those states, the party needs to take accountability for their actions. The voters are the ones who lose here because their votes don’t count. If the reverse were true and Obama won those states, I guarantee you he’d be fighting to get those delegates included.

Viva Kos. You are right on.
We have had it with 30 years of the Clinton expierience…..it’s clear that the people want change through Obama.

I get the feeling from reading the blogs sometimes …and of course from reading, the not-so-mainstream media these days that Hillary is somehow UnAmerican or evil for running for president. She is supposed to not be a candidate because Obama is ahead….neither can win without superdelegates….
Has the American brand become …”Give it up for the one that is ahead”
I have serious doubts that Obama can win 51% of the vote. I saw his beautiful speech.
I mourn for Ferraro who has been ruined by a powerful combination of a willing press and a manipulative Obama campaign, and her own inability to back down…I am truly sad for this church and it’s flawed minister. Obama never stood up to the most evil and untrue teachings or tried to “heal’ this church. Now he will try to heal America.
All speeches aside….this is one time that I’m not terribly pleased with my Democratic Party. But then that’s politics after all.

Obama makes me ill.
His ‘slash and burn, ends justify the means’ arrogant, self-centered behavior is disgusting.
I’m on the right side of things; which is why I’m a progressive; but obama is not acting very progressive. He’s fullfilling and confirming every last damn suspicion of the Right.
NO OBAMA!!!!!

How long will the dimocratic party allow Hillary Clinton to divide the party for no good reason ? It’s not like she going to win. I could not beleive she said Macain would be a better commander a cheif becuse he has more experince than Obama. The only problem with that is he also has more than Mrs. Clinton

The only house that is being burned down is Obama’s and he set the fire. I can no longer abide by the foolish rhetoric on this blog of misogynists. A convenient liar is none the less a liar. Have fun.

Big surprise. DailyKos has been running a persistent extremely negative anti-Hillary campaign. Rank and reeking rumours, blaming Hillary for every misstep Obama makes.
Nice to know the cat is finally out of the bag, and I hope Kos reports each and every penny that has been used, under the umbrella of a “liberal” blog to raise money for Obama.
A political campaign for a single person does not constitute a movement. It is a cult.

Kos doesn’t know it yet, but DailyKos is going out of business.
Since when is it evil to have 2 candidates?
