McCain Kicks of Biographical Tour with New Ad
EmailABC News’ Bret Hovell Reports: The campaign of Senator John McCain has launched what it’s calling its first television advertisement of the general election, to coincide with a number of stops over the next week intended to introduce McCain to the general electorate.

The ad, titled “624787,” which was McCain’s Navy serial number when he was shot down over Vietnam, runs 60 seconds long and is scheduled to first air statewide in New Mexico, which his expected to be a battleground state in the general election. The campaign says it will air in other states as well, but the decision as to when and where has not yet been made.
Though billed as the first ad of the general election, the ad is actually paid for with money for the primary. McCain does not officially accept the nomination of the Republican Party until the Republican National Convention in September.
The ad features images of McCain on the campaign trail, and concludes with video of McCain being interviewed as a prisoner of war.
At the end of the ad, a voice-over intones that John McCain is “the American president Americans have been waiting for.”
The Democratic National Committee released a statement from its chair, Howard Dean, on the ad.
“John McCain can try to reintroduce himself to the country, but he can’t change the fact that he cast aside his principles to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Bush for the last seven years,” Dean’s statement read.
Over the next week, McCain, R-Ariz., will travel around the country on a “Service to America” tour, described by the campaign as an effort to introduce McCain to voters across the country.
The ad was produced by Foxhole Productions, led by McCain’s media advisor Mark McKinnon.

“Vietnam veterans against McCain.” If his qualifications for the highest office in the land is a fabricated biography, then he isn’t qualified at all. If you don’t know Jack about health care, or don’t know Jack about the economy, then you sure as hell know that John is your man. Let’s all serve for 100 years after he bombs Iran. After all he did so much during the last war, getting shot down, and giving over all the information he had to his captors. Maybe that’s why he pushed to normalize relations with Vietnam. (while permanetly classifying his war record as a POW in North Vietnam) Does anybody else think that’s it’s suspicious that John refused to allow for an investigation into the accounting for all of the missing POW’s in Vietnam? What the hell could he be hiding. Why was he so eager to normalize relations with Vietnam, without all of our men accounted for. This is honor? No, this is a joke. If THIS alone is the reason you support John McCain, please look beyond his media induced persona, and venture a real honest look into what this man really is. It certainly isn’t honorable, and it damn sure ISN’T presidential. If you “care” about the troops in this war, you should “care” enough to look into the missing of the previous one. John McCain looked out for John McCain, but then again, his whole career has been an exercise of that “principle.” Of course the apple doesn’t fall all that far from the tree. Look up his father and the USS Liberty. Research this for yourself before you call us liars. The truth is real and it shall set you free.

Wow… just visited the anti-Mac webiste. He must be doing something good to rankle the far right. The Right is so good at being the opposition, it never knows when to quit. Just like the Dems – the GOP will eat each other alive, even with one candidate. Who are they waiting for to save the Party… Atilla the Hun?

Most troubling to me about McCain are indications that he may be a member of a group responsible for committing senseless acts of violence and fanning anti-American sentiment around the world: the Republican Party.

Uh…lookout, McCain! It looks like Obama fans are already trying to slam you. They think they have the nomination already, but, they don’t. I guess it must be an insurance policy, just in case. Sounds like the people who listen to Preacher Wright are already on your case.

I think the fact that you have a McCain story and nobody even bothers to comment speaks volumes about his chances in the fall.
