Key Obama Iowa Adviser Invokes ‘Monica’s Blue Dress’ When Assailing Bill Clinton’s ‘Patriotism’ Comments

Gordon Fischer, the former director of the Iowa Democratic Party and a senior adviser for Sen. Barack Obama’s efforts in the Hawkeye State, is still very much involved in making sure Obama gets delegates as the caucus process continues.

He’s also quite fired up about former President Bill Clinton’s comments in front of a North Carolina VFW Hall, which the Obama campaign took to be an impugning of Obama’s patriotism.

In his blog, Fischer writes:

"B. Clinton questions Obama’s patriotism.  In repsonse (sic), an Obama aide compared B. Clinton to Joe McCarthy. This is patently unfair.  To McCarthy.

"When Joe McCarthy questioned others’ patriotism, McCarthy (1) actually believed, at least aparently (sic), the questions were genuine, and (2) he did so in order to build up, not tear down, his own party, the GOP.  Bill Clinton cannot possibly seriously believe Obama is not a patriot, and cannot possibly be said to be helping — instead he is hurting — his own party.  B. Clinton should never be forgiven.  Period.  This is a stain on his legacy, much worse, much deeper, than the one on Monica’s blue dress."

That’s not quite the kind of comment that keeps with Obama’s pledge to focus on policy differences instead of personal attacks, I think it’s safe to say.

- jpt

UPDATE: Fischer writes to say, "On my individual blog, I made a stupid comment.  I sincerely apologize for a tasteless and gratituous comment I made here about President Clinton. It was unnecessary and wrong.

"I have since deleted the comment, and again apologize for making it. It will not happen again.

"I hope my readers will accept my apology and we can move on to the very important issues facing our state and country. Thank you."

UPDATE 2:  Obama spox Tommy Vietor writes, "As Senator Obama has said repeatedly, comments like this have no place in our political dialogue and he strongly rejects them.”

Vietor also says that Fischer was not a co-chair, though he’s been identified as such, as well as an
adviser, someone who organized Iowa for Obama, etc. etc. So I changed his label to "key adviser." The point is he’s directly affiliated with the Obama campaign and he was invoking the blue dress.

Yippee, more rejections, denunciations and repudiations?!
Who cares what this guy has to say? Let’s move onto the issues people care about.

The Obama campaign is getting desperate to move on from the Wright fiasco that they’re trying very hard to make something of what Bill Clinton said. And now they’re increasing their attacks that are very personal. Whatever happened to talking about the issues? Whatever happened to “CHANGE” from the politics of old?? Obama is just a typical politician. All that stuff about being above it all is just political propaganda to attract supporters. His campaign’s true colors are coming to light. The disgust I feel is beyond words.

Yep. Controlling those surrogates is getting harder and harder, for both camps. This is why this protracted fight is bad.
As Yeats said, “The best lack all conviction, while the worst are filled with passionate intensity”. Perhaps this applies to internet comment boards as well?

You people are incredible. The media is so bad I compare it to the one we have here in our third world country.( but right now I thing ours is better)
I hope the american people holds the media accountable for bringing the worst out of people and like they did with Irak, do not bring the issues to the table. I think Mrs. Clinton deserves to win only for the fact that the media and Mr. obamas, followers have no class to become president

Posted by: rosa | March 24, 2008, 11:21 am 11:21 am

So how exactly is Obama raising the bar in political discourse or taking the high road????
I’m having trouble seeing it actually.

Posted by: s.b. | March 24, 2008, 11:22 am 11:22 am

The fact that Obama’s long time relationship with Emil Jones, Tony Resko and Jeremy Wright. His claim for judgement is very questionable. The fact there is noe revote in FL and MI due to Obama’s camp is very disconcerting. I am thinking about voting for Republcian if there is no revote in those states.

Actually, I think a lot of people can believe that obama is not a patriot.
They believed that a decorated war veteran wasnot a patriot in the last election.
Compare Obamam his actions, his words, his wife, and his affiliations to a decorated war veteran.
I think a lot of people will question Obama’s patriotism. The Republican Party will make sure they do.

IOWA has a white majority and a rural population. I cannot believe the caucuses are voting for Obama without someone controlling them. Iran is more democratic than USA, atleast they do not have caucus.

I live in florida. Mc Cain has already won this state in the general election if Obama is the nominee. The democrats were BONE DEAD stupid to strip ALL of the delegates. Who made that STUPID decision? They should have stripped 1/2 to stunt the effect but NOT disenfranchise all the voters. They are just STUPID BEYOND REPAIR.
As for Obama being negative and using every single horrible angle possible these days? What else is new. Good job Tapper.

Wow!! That was a cheap shot by the Obama Campaign, pure gutter politics at it’s best. This reeks of desperation. After Obama’s new pastor’s Lynching remarks and comparing Rev. Wright to Jesus, his own congregation is putting the rope around Obama’s neck, now let’s see who is going to do the tightening. He will spend the rest of the campaign deflecting the heat and doing damage control. His bid for the presidency is all but lost.

So, Mr.(I stand for change) obama
and his people have shown he is just a politican as all the rest. Obama and his people will do anything to get off the subject of wright and the mess he brings. and obama negative list grows
a lie to american people about nafta
and told the canadians something else
rezko-1st he told us he rec. 150k0-then he had to tell us it was 250k
then he told the american people one thing about the what he would do about the war-and his former foreign policy
advisor s. power told the bbc something different.
then 20 years of rev. wright-he told us first he never heard it-then he told us
yes he had been in services where he heard it-he claims to be a uniter-and his spiritual mentor preaches seperate
he has caused this country and the dem party to divide.
he copies everything Hillary does on the issues.
and now this-why?
Obama is not ready to be president
he has bad judgement
Obama and his people are doing to the black people what bush and rove did with the evangelicals.
It is a shame.
I’ll bet if you check-on past easter sunday’s obama and his family have been in church-why not this year. When will he go back to service there? and Moss the third is just an up and coming rev. wright. so the seperatist sermons will ggo on. and I cannot believe the media
is not trying to help the american voters. Hillary is the only one talking about how to solve the problems of today that we face and will face in the future. all the people who are against hillary-cannot say that she is wrong on the issues. Hillary runs circles around obama and mccain on the issues.

The Obama campaign appears to be run by juvenile delinquents with the crass quality of stuff coming out.
First we have Samantha Power calling a distinguished former first lady, a person with 35 years of distinguished public service, a monster.
Secondly, we have Reverend Wright, spewing hate, and Obama telling us he’s been associated with this man for only 20 years. The Reverend did some rather repulsive charades of sex act simulation which should not be shown on the public airwaves, ever.
Now we have this crass act of a person, trying to bring more sex discussions into the campaign, tired, old stuff.
The public sees this for what it is, another dirty tricks and whisper campaign by the Obama wing reminiscent of Karl Rove.
If this is Obama’s leadership then get ready for a wild ride folks, it’s only going to get worse.

The only gutter politics coming out in this campaign are from the Clinton camp. They should be thankful that all the Clinton dirt hasn’t been brought up. There is no dirtier family in American history than the Clintons. So they really shouldn’t be attacking Obama. Bill Clinton is an embarrassment to the Democratic party.

Can’t you just feel the “change” in politics?

Posted by: Tracy | March 24, 2008, 11:36 am 11:36 am

Again, who cares about the Clinton’s personal life? It is so hypocritical of all of the Obama supporters to keep bringing Monica up when JFK probably disrespected his office just as much, the press just knew then there were more important matters to shed light on than his personal life. Yet, everyone wants to compare Obama to JFK! Again, double standards. Obama’s campaign is actually coming off as one of the most divisive, manipulative, and hypocritical Presidential campaigns this country has ever had. So much for unity! That is why so many will never vote for him if he still manages to become the nominee, and those are legitimate reasons.

Posted by: DWC | March 24, 2008, 11:42 am 11:42 am

Try telling that to the Obama camp, about separation of religion and state. They are the ones dragging religion into everything.

Hillary Clinton just gave a speech on the economy, and discussed things that need to be done. Given this, why are these infantile, unimportant comments even being discussed? I understand that the Obama campaign is trying to get attention off of Wright, and off of Hillary’s position on things, but why are these comments on this blog? Will this be used to show just how negative a campaign Obama/Axelrod are running?

Jay: Who are you suppose to be? Was Obama at that church on Sunday? Do you think yall white people are getting ready to take over these people’s church? Tell them what to say? They do not owe you anything. Focus on your own religion and your own relationship with God. Stop worrying about these people. Another example of you guys thinking you have the power to take over something. This is not about Obama for me but don’t you dare think these people have to abide by white people rules. Worry about your own salvation. Again I just wonder WHO ARE YOU to think you can tell someone how to run their church that they are paying for and supporting. You got some nerve.

Posted by: Karen | March 24, 2008, 11:48 am 11:48 am

These kind of comments are to be expected although the Obama camp has tried to behave themselves in the past. When primaries last this long, stuff like this come out from the surrogates. The media makes a big deal of it. Ignore it and move on.

Karen : Dont get worked up over TUCC. They do good community work but they deserve all the flak they are getting for setting up a “Resurrection Fund” to defend Wright. Is the word Resurrection, a marketing strategy or money-making slogan now?

Posted by: MattOhio | March 24, 2008, 11:51 am 11:51 am

Jake, you said it all. Leaving aside that it is supposed to be the Clinton campaign that engages in “gutter politics,” it is questionable strategy for Obama’s campaign to fan the flames (or more appropriately, start a fire) over Obama’s perceived lack of “patriotism,” a vulnerable point for him. Protesting too much about the issue only raises its profile in the eyes of the electorate.

Posted by: shellray | March 24, 2008, 11:51 am 11:51 am

Bill CLinton is creating a lot of problems for DEMOCRAT.He has been saying silly words throughout this campaign for his wife. They always feel to themselves that they are best kind of politicians but they are the worst fo DEMOCRAT. People are watching him closely making all kind of negative remarks.

Posted by: I.A.T Smith | March 24, 2008, 11:51 am 11:51 am

A vote for Nader is a vote for a 3rd term WBush=McCain in the White House. It is unfortunate that the discours has been lowered by Bill Clinton. He tried and tried and tried again, he is angry because he was thinking that everybody will go on their knees for him and his beloved wife, the inevitable candidate, the inevitable nominee and the inevitable president. But Obama, Richardson, Dodds, etc. are just doing the contrary as real sons and daughters of America. Equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity, that is the basis of the American Dream. WestCoastMessanger, DNC will decide the FL and MI vote, not Hillary’s impositions, fairness is the basis of justice. God bless America, God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Well…it is just where the Clintons wanted it. they started (and all of the poor people who are brainwashed by their own 7 year long argument on here)…
The Clintons have a lot more than a blue dress…but it seems you all continue to just be angry that your candidate isn’t getting their due entitlement…you know he goes first she doesn’t say anything and years later she’ll be President.
Stop. Breathe. Look. These comments are all in reaction to the Clintons playing the game (and very well I might add…yes they are very good at playing this game…just wished they were better at putting the country and all those fights they say they are waging before their own positions and needs)…
I don’t know if Clinton is worse than MCCarthy…I don’t know if he is even close… I am pretty sure he is not…as i am sure Gov. richardson isn’t “Judas” and Sen. Obama is far more of a lover of this country and puts the country ahead of himself than Sen. Clinton does.
I do want to ask…how many people couldn’t help watching the Detroit Mayor press conferences today and not think…when the Lawyer got up and she said this was an afront to the justice system and it is not just about tawdry sexual crap… did it not throw you back to 8 years ago and that finger pointing at us through the television screen…with such anger.
God, do I not want to go back to that …to only having the republicans and Foxnews back in office in 4 years.

Bill Clinton was speaking to the Super Delegates who would be wise to listen. We can either have a general election that focuses on the issues, or we can have a general election that focuses on Obama’s anti-Americanism (whether perceived or justified is up to each person to decide). The Super Ds have absolutely no responsibility to vote as their districts do, as confirmed by Senators Kennedy and Kerry and Governor Richardson.

The Obama camp lashes out at any mere insinuation that Obama lacks patriotism. Obviously they are very sensitive to this issue since this is Obama’s biggest red flag going into the GE (in addition to his total lack of judgement). Many voters should rightly question his patriotism. It is Obama’s mortal flaw and he will lose the GE and I am angry the Wright issue didn’t surface before. The swooning media did not properly vet this candidate and the DNC leaders were and STILL are shoving Obama down our throughts.

On the issues that face us-hillary is the better than obama and mccain.
Mccain is going to make sure some of your kids and loved ones die in his 50-100 year war
Obama-has no clue on how to get this country back on track
the only hope-(that is if you are really concerned about the issues that face us and how to solve them) is Hillary. Why don’t you obama supports talk about the issues-why because you know Hillary knows how to get this country back on track.
don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.
Pa, NC, Indiana, WVa, and others right this wrong that is happening.
Hillary knows how to solve the problems facing the americans that need help.
the obama supports do not need healthcare,or student loans reduced,

The problem is that Obama has all his surrogates doing the hit. They are his agents of change? LOL Because of this, it is clearly relevant what they say and do. I want to know what they say and do. If we depend on Obama, solely, we will think he just goes around making nice speeches. His campaign is about much more than that. Its very core stems from the dirtiest of political machines and dynasties.
There is a distinctive disjoint between Obama and his agents. That is purposeful and needs to be exposed. That is the roll of journalism, I think. Thanks, Jake!!!

President John Mccain-is going to further empty your wallet and decrease the number of young people in your family trying to continue his 50-100 year was-now that is a fact-and everyone on this blog knows it.
President Barack Obama-well we do not know what he is going to do-because he does not know-he is not ready to be president.
President Hillary Clinton-is going to get the housing crisis taken care of
end the student loan company squeeze
make healthcare affordable for all
she has a good command of all the issues
she runs circles around obama and mccain on the issues
she can think on her feet and articulate the issues and what to do about them.
what is talking about doing for the american people-is just what the people need.
as an african american I would like to see a black president also-but I want on who is smarter than all the others running for president. Obama is not
and as far as the pastor wright fiasco goes-the biggest think about that now with obama-is obama poor judgement
I do not want to watch on tv obama as president visiting his home church (if he had been president) knowing what is being preached in there.

That whatever the change is…we need to change it…we will be better off and a better country. Unfortunately for many of you, you have to go through this painful letting go of that one issue you have held on to for so long…. but it will be better when the Clintons and the Bush’s are gone. We would like to have Sen. Obama back fighting for us. Pastor White makes you uncomfortable, because he may make you think. That’s right. If a minister can drive a point home he or she can increase the the money going into their pocket. My minister ticks me off sometimes and so does my boss. I go back because they make me think for myself. The Clinton puppets will now have to be told how to respond to this… Too funny. Billy C is the biggest car salesman on the planet. NEITHER candidate has the number of delegates required to secure the nomination.
EITHER candidate can reach the required number in the coming weeks and months.

Oh gosh Chuck, a politician who has lied. Show me one who hasn’t . You can’t. There is no such animal. Still, to question someones love and dedication and commitment to the United States because they lied, or has an affair is ludicrous.
Oh and I am a Chicago resident born and raised on the South side near Obama’s district. He has done nothing in his 8 years for anyone in his district, the city of Chicago or the State of Illinois. He is completely in this race for his own lust for power, nothing more.

Sure seems like a lot of folks are hating Obama for things that Clinton did or supported.
I’ve had Hillary shoved down my throat for 4 years (by the media) as the next democratic candidate for president and throughout that time I kept asking “who’s gonna vote for her–nobody I know”. I was told it was the democratic elite. Well, I’m an independent.
Obama in ’08.

The Obama supporters want to move on and ignore that Obama’s campaign is really the one playing dirty politics… and that he is self-inflicting his problems.
The tracking polls (Gallup and Rasmussen) have both Hillary and Obama within the margin of error… aka statistically tied. Obama lost his lead.
Most notably, Rasmussen now has Obama at a 52% unfavorable rating… now also statistically tied with Hillary’s unfavorable rating.
Now another Obama campaign leader invoking the “blue dress” in the spirit of the right-wing attack machine and Ken Starr. That previous Clinton innuendo against the Obama campaign was prophetic.
Your are doing a good job there, Obama… in going for the primary win at all costs to only lose the general. The Clinton campaign now looks extraordinarily well-behaved in comparison… and notably it was Obama who derided Clinton politics and promised a “new kind of politics.” Where in the heck is that commitment today? Only words because his actions show otherwise.

Whenever Ronald Reagan gave a press conference, female reporters would often wear red dresses, because red was Nancy Reagan’s favorite color and it increased their chances of being called on by the President.
If Hillary Clinton is elected president, will reporters wear blue dresses, in honor of her husband’s penchant for that particular color?

The stain in Monica Lewinsky’s dress is fair game as much as Rev. Wright’s sermons since its on display at the Smithsonian and every tourist gets to see what an American President did in the Oval office.
But my concern does not end there. One can blame Obama all day long for associating himself with a chuch where in 20 yrs of preaching there were 3 or 4 clips where Rev Wright got ahead of himself and said things that he ought not to say and immediately apologize but that pales into insignificance against the backdrop of the chief law enforcement officer of the country, a President raises his right hand in court and commits perjury, obstruction of justice and suborns perjury. The two should not even be compared.

As for Hillary….she is taking action on the housing fallout when Congress returns to DC. Obama wrote a letter to Bernanke last year. That can hardly be seen as action.

Another folishness after the race card was debunked now that’s the patriotism card. Can Bill clinton talk about patriotism….This further confirm that the Clintons will bring down the Democratic party at all cost…That’s very sad.AND A QUESTION FOR BILL: IS HE THE ONE WHO WAS SAYING:”A CLINTON-OBAMA WILL BE UNSTOPBLE”? HOW CAN SOME WHO HE PROPOSE AN UNPATRIOTIC AS VICE-PRESIDENT. HERE IS WHY THE CLINTON ARE UNTRUSTWORTHY. THEY SPIN AND ROLE ACCORDING TO THEIRE INTEREST OF THE MOMENT. How about the latest pathetic attack from the “desperate to change the subject” Obama campaign – Bill Clinton as McCarthy. How low can you go?
Bill Clinton is a revered figure amongst democrats and there are many of us who are very angry at this cheap shot. Obama needs to apologize for General McPeak’s comments – they are highly offensive to democrats everywhere and should not be tolerated.

Posted by: ch | March 24, 2008, 12:50 pm 12:50 pm

I do wish this Co-Chair had had the cajones to say this before the Iowa vote the other day. Then it would be newsworthy. And I think it would have affected the vote there. On the other hand the negativity of the Obama campaign will affect other votes in states like Texas when they go to the county conventions.
The negativity of Obama’s campaign is just adding more dung to the heap. It is meant to deflect the whole Wright incident, which it has little chance of doing. Instead the more Obama and his underlings go negative, the less likely Obama looks like the agent of change.
The negative comments only serve to aid Clinton. There is no mistake in this.

And yet again, the biggest concern about Obama is what other people say and do, not what Obama himself says and does. This is not the kind of statement Obama advocates or espouses, so let’s try to keep a bit of perspective and judge the candidate for who HE is, not hold him responsible for the words of some of his supporters.

For twenty years Bill Clinton has paid and paid and paid for that stain on Monica’s blue dress. He continues to pay today as he will tomorrow. That’s fair. Bill’s a big boy, he can handle it. NOW, OBAMA must pay for TWENTY YEARS of staining AMERICA with his racists and bigoted friends. Obama too must pay for the rest of his life for REFUSING to stand up and defend America. Instead, Obama CHOSES the bigot as his spiritual adviser. Where ever Obama goes from this day forward those of us on this side will be there to make Obama pay every single day for the rest of his natural life. Count on it.

Hillary is a fraud, plain and simple.
They can’t win this primary within the rules, so their goal is to destroy Obama now to pave they way for another power-hungry campaign in 2012.
This latest slimy Clinton propaganda about the electoral college is disgusting. It’s as if these people can’t recognize reality. FACE IT, HILLARY CAN’T WIN. If you people want to destroy the party, you’re going to get what you deserve in the end.

Posted by: mg | March 24, 2008, 12:54 pm 12:54 pm

This party in-fighting HAS to stop. Numerous people are becoming dispirited by the constant back-and-forth of both camps, myself included. The name-calling and finger-pointing are schoolyard antics and I find myself turning off the news now because its becoming ridiculous.
I support Obama in this race, but we need more speaking to the issues at hand (and props to the Clinton camp for the foreclosure speech today).

Posted by: Paul | March 24, 2008, 12:59 pm 12:59 pm

Jay…funny I didn’t even mention Monica or the blue dress in my original post. I stated Clinton brought shame to the office of President and in my opinion shouldn’t be in a position to question anyone’s patriotism.
He left the country to avoid the draft, he lied under oath, he rented out the Lincoln bedroom, he stole furniture and china from the White House, he pardoned a record number of felons and yes he did have sexual relations with “that woman” IN the Oval office. That is no patriot.
There are many other scandals Clinton has been linked to before and during the time he was in office and MORE questionable dealings after he left. To name a few after he left: the uranium deal in Kazakhstan, the ongoing Peter Paul trial, millions of dollars in donations to the William Jefferson Clinton foundation and presidential library, and his dealings with China. These don’t speak to what I consider to be his lack of patriotism but they spell volumes about his lack of character. Clinton has proven over and over he has no personal character.

I have said it before…
What if rev. Wright was a white vietnam vet who was angry about the treatment of his fellow vets for years.
And on occasion he got up and let his anger show and said the same things Rev. Wright said.
What if you were a member of this church? Would you leave…would you chastise and confront that minister?
Remember I am a blue collar white guy and was initially offended enough to decry Obama…but then I realized, the above story.
…and if people got angry at me for not denouncing that Rev. who watched his fellow vets get consumed by drugs and crime because the country did not take care of it’s citizens.
I want the candidate who disagrees but understands that people like that are fighting for something.

Clinton supporters kill me charging Obama supporters with “going negative.” Campaigns are run by individuals and anyone who has gone negative in the Obama camp has been asked to step down. Hillary’s folks say negative things then blame Obama for “making” them say negative things. How are Clinton supporters going to complain about going negative when they started the negativity out of desperation? It’s that negativity that has appealed to the worst in people and helped her gain ground in the polls. Its also the negativity that has begun to tear the Democratic party apart. I guess you’d rather have Obama continue to highlight his strengths and not mention Clinton’s weaknesses, while the Clinton camp slings mud at Obama at every opportunity. I guess that would be an easy way for her to win the nomination.
Hillary says that the main objective is for the Democrats to win the White House, yet she is doing terrible damage with her “kitchen sink” strategy.

Is this the new kind of politics Obama keeps talking about ? Sounds like dirty politics to me. All these juvenile attempts to distract public’s attention from the Wright fiasco will not work. Wright fiasco and Obama’s attempt to block a re-vote in FL and MI have sealed the deal in November. If Obama is the nominee, McCain will be the President without a doubt.

The Obama supporters either blind or refuse to see the different when compare the blue dress and Ref. Wright. The different is Obama is a willfull accomplish while Hillary is a victim.
When voting for the country leader, personal character probably the most important issue. In the end, we hope to vote for the right person, and trust them to make the right decisions.
My issues with Obama is trust. I can’t trust his words, since there is no action in the past show me that he mean what he said and capable to do what he promise.
Does this make Hillary a saint ? No, but she has been in the lamplight long enough to let me know how the think, what she mean and how much se is capable. It may not be ideal, but I am comfortable with that.
I am an asian, and we value experience.

WestCoastMessager, MattOhio,Jay and Jgaw, the reality is that there is a need for a new way to get a majority to face issues like Economy, Health Care, Education, war against terrorism and that is what Obama is talking about and has best plans to address any of these issues. Secondly let us not considere people like numbers .6% is not telling a lot, how many are in that .6% that is important to show because it is in this case statistically significant. Finally to WestCoastMessanger, if the campaign is about juveniles versus seniors, then the presidency is for McCain because of his age. HillLovers, we should understand that having lived longer does not mean having reel experience or good judgement. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Yes, the Clinton’s were very happy and prosperous in the 90′s too, way more than you ever will be. So let me get this straight.. Hillary’s plan is for the Government to take over the failing loans from citizens that were too stupid or too greedy not to live within their means? Great plan based upon experience obviously, notably the WHITEWATER Savings and Loan contribution to the last mortgage (savings and loan collapses) crisis. Whereby the Clintons were part and parcel in creating the last national crisis and the last taxpayer financed buyout of failed loans. If you think the problems that ail our nation will be solved by choosing a cookie-cutter establishment “experienced” candidate, maybe you are snorting the cookie dough a little much. Whatever Hillary, get your hands out of my pockets, still a crook. Fool me once…

It’s pretty pathetic what the scheming, triangulating Clintons are doing to the resurgent democratic party. Since she started her “kitchen sink” strategy of personal attacks, how much have you heard about the real issues in this campaign? How has McCain faired as a consequence of her actions?
The bottom line is that Hillary Rodham Clinton doesn’t care about health care. She doesn’t care about trade or the economy. She doesn’t care about the fact she vigorously promoted Bush’s idiotic Iraq war. She doesn’t even care about the democratic party.
All she cares about is keeping a grip on naked power– and she’ll lie, cheat and steal to get it.
DISGUSTING.

I don’t blame the Clintons for everything…but they have a lot to do with that election in 2000.
…I blame them for using this blinded party for so long… this election has shown that they are fighters… but this election has proven to me …their drive comes from a place that has less to do with this country than it does to them holding office. Those tears that came in NH (if you watch them again) I truly believe came more from her frustration of losing (as she said “this is not a game”) more than the fate of the American people … I think she just REALLY wants to be President.

He has also discussed how that anger should not manifest itself. That is the person i want as President… the person that can go to church and come out and take the good without the bad…
the woman who leaves a church that says women should listen to men and serve their husbands and organizes for women’s rights, or the girl who grows up to want to have a career rather than serve her husband
the man who grows up and continues to bring hias family to a catholic church and is taught gays are an abomination and fights for his gay friends outside of that church

Neither Obama nor Hillary can win without the superdelegates (more correctly unpledged delegates). It is who has the most TOTAL delegates at the end and neither can get there with elected/pledged delegates only. No rules are being changed. The argument on electoral state wins is actually a very good argument in terms of a strategy for winning the general election.
For those who are ignorant of Democratic Party history… After 1968, they tried elected delegates only and it was chaos so unpledged delegates (party leaders) were added back in to bring some wisdom to the process…. which also includes setting the Democratic platform.

The Obama campaign is imploding. It’s laughable to say that Hillary’s campaign has been negative, when it has actually been Obama’s campaign that has been negative, especially in the last two weeks, as they desperately try to divert people’s attention from the Wright situation. That situation is not going to go away, just because you make a speech (another diversionary tactic). I am getting so sick of the feigned outrage, anytime, anyone, says something the Obama camp deems unfavorable. Do we really want 4 more years of this divisive crap, that the Obama camp keeps sending out. He is not the uniter, he has been the divider.

Hillary is just another power-obsessed Washington insider who talks out of both sides of her mouth. The Clintons are masters of personal attack politics, whether it’s war hero Bod Dole, or rising star Obama.
The question you have to ask yourself is…
After all these years in power, when has Hillary really stuck her neck out and led effectively?
She spectacularly failed in the healthcare debate.
She spectacularly failed in judgement on the Iraq invasion.
She was wrong, and then lied, about her position on NAFTA.
She single-handedly turned the Democratic Presidential Primary into a tearful, distorted, negative slime-fest.
I think the evidence is plain to see. She can get power, but can’t lead. We don’t need another president singing that tune.

Myths the Obama camp is circulating a bout Clinton:
MYTH 1: Barack Obama is running a positive campaign that will unite Americans.
FACT 1: Barack Obama and his advisers have conducted a divisive “full assault” on Hillary’s character.
While talking a lot about the politics of hope, change and unity, Sen. Obama and his campaign have been conducting a relentless and singularly personal assault on Hillary’s character. They have blanketed big states with false negative mailers and radio ads and have described Hillary and her campaign as “disingenuous,” “divisive,” “untruthful,” “dishonest,” “polarizing,” “calculating,” “saying whatever it takes to win,” “attempting to deceive the American people,” “one of the most secretive in America,” “deliberately misleading,” “literally willing to do anything to win,” and “playing politics with war.”
This “full assault” on Hillary’s integrity and character has reached a new peak since Hillary’s victories on March 4th. One of Sen. Obama’s top surrogates equated President Clinton with Joe McCarthy; another called Hillary a “monster;” and his campaign manager held an angry conference call claiming that Hillary is “deeply flawed” and has “character issues.” That’s neither unifying nor hopeful. If Sen. Obama really is the prohibitive favorite some say he is, these negative attacks make absolutely no sense. Why would a frontrunner seek to attack and divide? If Sen. Obama can’t unify Democrats in a primary, how can he unify Americans in a general election?
=====
MYTH 2: The delegate “math” works decisively against Hillary.
FACT 2: The delegate math reflects an extremely close race that either candidate can win.
“The Math” is actually very simple: with hundreds of delegates still uncommitted, NEITHER candidate has reached the number of delegates required to secure the nomination. And EITHER candidate can reach the required number in the coming weeks and months. That is indisputable. No amount of editorials, articles, blog posts, charts, graphs, calculations, formulas, or projections will change the basic fact that either candidate can win. Pundits who confidently proclaim that Hillary has no hope of winning because of “the math,” have counted Hillary out of this race three times before. Each time they based their sober assessments on ‘facts’ and ‘realities’ — and each time they were wrong.
In a campaign with dozens of unexpected twists and turns, bold prognostications should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Look no further than Sen. Obama’s “full assault” on Hillary’s character to judge whether he thinks this election is over. The fact is this: Hillary and Sen. Obama are locked in a very close, hard-fought campaign and Hillary is demonstrating precisely the strength of character required of a president. Her resilience in the face of adversity, her faith in the voters, her capacity to rise to every challenge, are part of the reason she is the best general election candidate for Democrats. And it is why she is increasingly strong against John McCain in the polls at the same time that Sen. Obama is dropping against Sen. McCain.
=====
MYTH 3: For Hillary to win, super delegates must “overturn the will of the people.”
FACT 3: The race is virtually tied, the “will of the people” is split, and both candidates need super delegates to win.
The Obama campaign and Sen. Obama’s surrogates have engaged in a sustained public relations effort to convince people that the election is over and that if super delegates perform their established role of choosing a candidate who they believe will make the best nominee and president, they are somehow “overturning the will of the people.” They have the audacity to make this argument while quietly and systematically courting those very same super delegates. They are courting them because they know that Sen. Obama needs super delegates to win. The Obama spin is being parroted daily by pundits, but it is patently false. The race is virtually tied; the “will of the people” is split. By virtually every measure, Hillary and Sen. Obama are neck and neck — separated by less than 130 of the more than 3,100 delegates committed thus far and less than 1% of the 27 million+ votes cast, including Florida and Michigan. Less than 1%.
An incremental advantage for one candidate or the other is hardly a reason for super delegates to change the rules mid-game. Despite the Obama campaign’s aggressive spin and pressure, the RULES require super delegates to exercise their best independent judgment, and that is what they will do. Even Sen. Obama’s top strategist agrees they should. If not, then why don’t prominent Obama endorsers like Senators Kerry (MA) and Kennedy (MA), and Governors Patrick (MA), Napolitano (AZ) and Richardson (NM) follow the will of their constituents and switch their support to Hillary? After all, she won their states. And if this is truly about the “will of the people,” then Sen. Obama’s short-sighted tactic to run out the clock on a revote in Florida and Michigan accomplishes exactly two things: it disenfranchises Florida and Michigan’s voters; and it hurts Democrats in a general election. Apparently, for the Obama campaign, the “will of the people” is just words.
I’m just sick of Obama who is so divisive and bad for America!

I don’t agree with the Rev. but I understand someone (and often listen to people in my own life) who has a lot of anger at a situation that was out of their control.
My friend says all the time the reason he didn’t get into the med school he wanted was because of all the (fill in your swear)”immigrants” …he is not racist (he really isn’t) but he is frustrated because the system hurt him…
So do i agree with his sentiment …no.
Will I not be friends with him about it…no. Is he a caring person 99% of the time that needs to learn and redirect his anger yes… but his not getting into that school helps me understand something I wouldn’t about my own situation.
…and it’s not a question of supporting that church in Chicago…it’s a question of context.
America’s potential is right there in this discussion.

Jacko-Part of my job lad. I know it like the back of my own hand. I work in the oil sector with the Canadians and under NAFTA we get direct access to their oil. Without NAFTA the Canadian would sell most to China and India, better prices. BTW, Canada, second largest oil reserves on earth, is OUR number one oil supplier, number one gas supplier, number one electricity foreign supplier, number one light metals supplier and number one heavy metals supplier.

Hey… dennis… Same place that Obama got a lot of his personal wealth… books.
Hillary wrote her autobiography (Living History) and got an advance of $8 million as well as her book “It Takes a Village” was republished. Note that “Living History” set a first-week sales record for a non-fiction work, and went on to sell more than one million copies in the first month following publication…and was translated into twelve foreign languages (Wikipedia).

Hillary Clinton Lies.
She lied about Bosnia. She lied about the sniper fire. She did it in a speech to the American people.
George Bush lied about Iraq.
There are 4,000 dead soldiers.
There are 30,000 wounded soldiers.
Where will Hillary Clinton’s LIES take us?
How many soldiers will die?
How many homes or jobs will be lost?
Hillary Clinton is a corporate hack.
Hillary Clinton will not help the middle class. Hillary and Bill Clinton are just another pair of rich jet setters.
Go ahead, listen to the media.
Buy her lies.
Hillary and Bill have been bought.

Gordon Fischer’s statement is correct. He has nothing to apologize for.
The Clinton’s actions during this campaign, race baiting, using the Muslim card, drugs, etc, have proven that they are capable of anything and will do anything for power.
There is a deep division in the Dem party because of the Clinton’s actions. The good news is that these despicable people have finally revealed their true selves and now even once loyal Dems see who they REALLY ARE.
If Hillary can’t control her sexual predator of a husband, as she has never been able to do, she is not capable of leading.
Bill Clinton is a sexual predator…
It’s time for Obama’s camp to take the gloves off. Bill and Hillary’s stain is greater than that on the Blue Dress.

In the film THE PAPER the object was to get the story in print and THEN print the retraction. The point being, it was IN PRINT whether it was true or not. Sadly, this technique is being used to great effect on this campaign.

Apparently most of you people commenting here are watching a different campaign. Name one divisive thing that Sen Obama has done…not his surrogates like this Iowa guy. Name one! Clinton, on the other hand, started with her bizarre change in personality (what little she has) after getting whipped on Super Tuesday and in the Potomac Primaries, employing what HER campaign called their “kitchen sink” strategy – seemingly threatening him to a duel in Ohio; throwing the kitchen sink at him; noting that she and the true enemy, the republican opponent, have passed some imaginary commander-in-chief test that she developed in her mind; puffing up her story on her equally imaginary “experience” and claiming that all he has is a speech; offering him the vice presidential slot on her ticket when he is in fact winning in an effort to persuade his voters to come over to her; disingeniously claiming that the MI & FL debacles are somehow Obama’s fault – knowing full well of the rules beforehand that she agreed to when she thought she would “have the nomination wrapped up by Super Tuesday.” These are mere examples of the divisive tactics that HRC PERSONALLY engaged in. The list could go on and on, as you know. So I defy any of you HRC supporters or surrogates to name one divisive thing that he has done. HRC’s (and your) claims that it is Obama who is being negative and divisive are as disingenuous as her (your) claims over MI & FL.

There’s a little more to NAFTA than cheap oil coming in from Canada. Try decent paying manufacturing jobs hemmoraging out of America while corporate executives and their Clinton-class investors reaped massive profits. That’s why your candidate was for NAFTA before she was against it.
At this point in the race, not only can Hillary not win, but she apparently can’t lose with grace and dignity. She’ll stoop to any low, assume any position just to fulfill her own twisted ego. It’s sad to watch.

Mccain nor obama can debate hillary on the issues.

Let’s see who has been lying. Rezko-he only gave $60,000… actually it turns out to be $250,000. NAFTA-we never talked to Canada.. actually it turns out they did talk to Canada about NAFTA. Wright situation-I never heard him say those things-I did hear him say those things-then I never heard him say those things-difficult to believe that he was in that church for 20 years, and never heard those things (besides having his personal collection of Wright tapes to inspire him). Typcial white person comment-actually hasn’t tried to deny that statement, since it’s on tape. Obama has not been truthful on many occasions. For someone with such a weak resume, and proclaims to be the great uniter, why has the Democratic party become so divided. You can’t point fingers at others Obama when your campaign has failed to unite the Democratic party.

Posted by: beachnan | March 24, 2008, 1:50 pm 1:50 pm

Who care what Gordon Fisher thinks? Obama’s campaign talk about a “change” – new kind of politics? Where is that “change”? Did I miss the memo?
What does Monica Lewinsky have to do with anything? Talk about living in the past! Same politician name calling. Obama’s campaign is loaded with former Clinton advisers/aides/surrogates. His campaign is not about politics of change it’s about politics of a vendetta!
For me… this is about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Not Bill Clinton. Nor Michelle Obama. By the way, interesting we have not seen much of Michelle Obama in the media since her last anti-American remarks. I guess the Obama camp put her on ice for a while. After the Rev. Wright scandal.
I did some research the last couple of weekends, trying to get to know Obama more. As a community organizer in Chicago, Obama failed at that job. A pattern I’ve noticed. The concept of ‘change” seems to be new to him. Nothing change while he was in office in Illinois, except Obama’s titles. Barack Obama is a opportunist, not a change maker.
Many of Obama’s former coworkers/personal staff members refer to him as being unorganized, not attentive, unproductive, even lazy and not a team player. Very fascinating to research some of this stuff. If you are really serious about this election, turn off the TV. The MSM is selling you on a candidate. Objectively spend sometime on the Internet doing in depth research of Barack Obama’s career. Eye Opening.

Obama’s ‘Change’ slogan really works, doesn’t it? Another advisor busted doing his dirty work a/k/a ‘monster’ style. They attack and attack. He says he’s different and his regime won’t be politics as usual, but, it shows that he and his campaign are really not anything different. And if he can’t control and lead them, he certainly won’t be an effective leader for this country when attempting to work with Congress and foreign governments – because those people won’t care about him crying the unfair blues nor about his life story – appropriately those people will be attending to the task at hand…legislating and governing. Barack doesn’t have what it takes. Nice poet, bad president.

Posted by: jgaw | March 24, 2008, 1:56 pm 1:56 pm

Jacko-The Canadians have a better dollar than us. Better safety laws, better environmental laws (moving toward Kyoto protocol)equal to better salaries than us, and so on. What American company in its right mind will more jobs north only to pay more? Jacko, our jobs are being shipped overseas to China and India and other far east Asian countries where they pay slave wages. Japan ships vehicles into this country and does not allow Americans companies the same free access to their markets. At the same time these countries flood our markets. This is the source of job loss. Granted we need the Mexico NAFTA problem re-opened, job losses going there as well.

You know, the Obama people do not listen with comprehension. You cannot infer from Clinton’s comment that he was questioning Obama’s patriotism. Inferential language; it’s just not there.
Again, it’s a good thing this primary has gone on longer than “business as usual.” It’s given the country a longer period to observe Obama’s behavior. The more I observe, the less i care for Obama.

Obama-untruthful, untruthful, untruthful, about so many things. Love, the cartoon in the Boston Globe, that depicts the media, with an Obama button the size of a dinner plate on their lapel. They have really let us down in their vetting of his candidacy. The problem is, you can’t say anything without racism, or some other rhetorical nonsense being thrown at them. If Obama is elected, which I do not believe he can win the general, but if he did, we would be in for 4 years of the name calling, and finger pointing business by the Obama people. We need someone who can be focused on the issues that impact us all-not just part of the population.

Can we now look forward to an endless eight-flag Obama lecture on how McCarthyism was/is a good thing, and the Obama campaign’s association with General McPeak — whose idea it was to destroy Iraqi water and sewer to soften ‘em up for invasion — is a good thing?

Why is no one other than the Washington Post talking about Clinton’s blatant lie about running from sniper fire in Bosnia?
This has been ticking me off all weekend. The story ran in Washington Post last week with photo but as far as I can tell it hasn’t run in other major print media and it doesn’t seem to be covered in MSM broadcast at all. I think both candidates have been guilty of stretching the truth. The WP article and the video expose her sniper fire comments as a blatant LIE that goes beyond stretching the truth. Why is no one picking up on this?

Posted by: Keith Hood | March 24, 2008, 2:07 pm 2:07 pm

UPDATE 2: Obama spox Tommy Vietor writes, “As Senator Obama has said repeatedly, comments like this have no place in our political dialogue and he strongly rejects them.”
It just sounds to me too familiar. It is amazing how easily Obama can always brush these off by just a fixed sentence “no place in…” and at the same time still maintains he run a clean campaign and aim at new politics.
Obama camp recently did more of “negative”, partly because the media didn’t do these as much as before for them in order to keep them on “high road”.

Jackt51-There were between 46,000 and 51,000 Americans casualties in the three-day Battle of Gettysburg. A battle to free the black man from bondage. White men on both sides. That alone is why we on this side stand up to the Reverend Wrights of this world who swear on America and who curse the white man and who condemn the white man. And that is why we on this side will never back down on Obama for supporting this man. Yes, 4000 more American heroes gave their lives for the freedoms of a people in a place few of know or understand. I will remember those heroes and I know in the deepest part of my soul how beautiful this gift of freedom is and how terrible its cost. Perhaps in some far off future a child from that part of the world will someday look back at America and say THIS is a country I want MY country to emulate for we have known its treasure.

The American people recognize and reward good character because most of us are good patriotic people and will elect Mccain in a landslide. He and only he is qualified for the presidency, the other two are poseur’s who aren’t worthy of the office.

Here we go again.
The same thing they accused Hillary of about MLK remark after NH victory, they are doing again about Bill speech in NC. The Obama camp purposely misinterprete Bill Clinton remark once again for political sympathy just like in SC.
There is no doubt that the Obama camp is very slimmy in their tactic and we will not forget in November should he win the nomination.

Right now John McCain is smiling…and already picking out his cabinet members.

Posted by: Jo | March 24, 2008, 2:29 pm 2:29 pm

First off, I’m an independent looking for a candidate to support. I don’t see much difference in these three. Obama having to apologize for ANOTHER remark made by somebody in his camp?! Wow, this is becoming a habit. Makes you wonder about his judgement…who is he going to appoint if he’s elected? It’s hard to trust a person when he is constantly reputiating people he has surrounded himself with over the years. Talk is cheap, I want to see results. Everything he is showing me isn’t good.
Hillary’s is no better. She’s still married to Bill. Need I say more. Her politics isn’t much better than her judgement.
They’re both taking credit for things they didn’t do…slinging mud like two adolescents in a rain storm. They both better hope that Dems don’t read mccain.com. He sounds like a lot of moderate Democrats (minus his war stance and no on socialized medicine).
I just don’t see much diffence in them. Somebody please show me something.

First this is a non issue because they both are not patriots, but Obama is closer to anti-American, just look at his friends!
A patriot does not want to re-write the Constitution, A Patriot does not want our soldiers to die in vein. A Patriot does not blame America first!
A Patriot does say the Pledge of Allegience!
A Patriot doe not want to bring Socialism here!
Obama is a typical Lying Democrat politician!!
Got to love that if you say anyhing negative about him it is because of his Race. He plays the race card oh so well!!

“I CEASED TO ADVERISE MY MOTHER’S RACE AT THE AGE OF12 OR 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites”
From Dreams of My Father, ” I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER’S RACE”.
From ‘Dreams of my Father’, “The emotion between the races could never be pure….. the THE OTHER RACE (WHITE) WOULD ALWAYS REMAIN JUST THAT: MENACING, ALIEN AND APART”
From Dreams Of My Father, “never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. IT WAS INTO MY FATHER’S IMAGE , THE BLACK MAN, THE SON OF AFRICA, THAT I’D PACKED ALL THE ATTRIBUTES I SOUGHT IN MYSELF.
From Dreams Of My Father:
“THAT HATE HADN’T GONE AWAY,” he wrote, BLAMING WHITE PEOPLE,- SOME CRUEL, SOME IGNORANT, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives.”

On one side, we have the Clintons telling lies and carrying out sexual fantacies in the oval office and on the other side, we have an inexperienced Senator, who plays the race card and thinks he should be immune to criticism.
it looks like the whole country is going to experience the detruction of the democratic party right before their eyes.
When the dust clears, Senator McCain will walk into the oval office and Republicans will again control the executive branch of government.

Why should Iowa and New Hampshire vote first? Are they better than the rest of the country?
Also, caucus elections should be banned. It should be a primary.

Larry the independent
None of the three are perfect human beings-we are just beginning to find out how imperfect obama is-after he has fooled so many into voting for him but of the three Hillary does hav a good command of the issues;
She know the problems we are facing and has a plan to get this country back on the right track
on Healthcare, economy, ending the war
student loans, and she is the only one still out there talking about them
now if obama and co. would get out of the jerry springer mode-maybe he can come up with something that is not copying her.
If you want someone who knows what and how to help this country-go with Hillary
If you want someone-who is inexperienced but will make black people (I am black) feel good-because the rich who are supporting obama it does not matter to them who is in office-and obama helps them to feel good too.-but he has no clue how to lead this country right again.
If you want someone who is probally going to go down in history as being worst than LBJ on the war-go with mccain and his 50-100 year war.
and get ready to stand in a soup line
because we will all be there to fund his war. and he will probally not survive it either. 76 or 80 years old.

dl: Your post is Hillarious…only, not. What is false about what was written in these alleged fliers and said on these alleged radio ads, if, in fact those are the words that were used? While I know about the campaign MEMO, which is factually correct, I doubt the Obama camp transcended the memo to fliers and radio ads. That just sounds unbelievable. But, if your version is correct, so what? Every adjective that you listed above describing HRC is absolutely true. It’s a shame that you HRC supporters cannot, will not, or simply do not want to face the reality that SHE WILL NOT BE THE NOMINEE.
HRC is “disingenuous” –feigning shock, dismay, and concern over the alleged disenfranchisement of voters in MI & FL, when she agreed to and knew what was going to happen when the race started and was more than happy to go with that outcome in New Hampshire when she thought she would have the nomination wrapped up by Super Tuesday, as she claimed she would.
She is divisive in that she decided after getting whipped on Super Tuesday and in MD, DC, and VA to deploy what her campaign called the kitchen sink strategy. Her methods of attack after that only served to divide the party, turning off most Obama supporters from EVER supporting her. This is but an example of her divisive tactics. As you know, she and her campaign leaders have employed several others, which, BTW, have not worked.
She makes up a story about a harrowing trip to Bosnia under sniper fire, when there is video evidence demonstrating that her story was not true. Hence, she is “untruthful”, “dishonest”, and “deliberately misleading”. Again, one of countless other “untruthful”, “dishonest”, and “deliberately misleading” statements that she has made.
The fact that she and her campaign change the landscape weekly on what the litmus test should be for one to earn the nomination, is proof-positive that she will say and do anything to win. Now, we should focus on electoral votes? Please. The fact that her closest campaign advisers have privately and publicly said that it is “impossible” for her to get the nomination, yet she remains in the race tearing the presumptive nominee down with her say and do anything to win mentality, efforts and language is more proof.
As for “playing politics with war”, she thought she had a “gotcha” moment when Samantha Powers realistically stated that Obama intends to bring the troops home in 16 months, but of course he’ll have to evaluate that promise when he gets into office, because things change. What if everyone in Iraq has gone nuclear between his election as President in November and the day he takes office on January 21, 2009. America certainly would not expect the President to stick to his campaign promise to pull all the troops out if such an action will leave us and the world weaker and more vulnerable. Any sensible, reasonable person knows this. Not HRC. She and her campaign bulldog, Wolfsen, have publicly said they will pull troops out “no matter what”. Even a majority of the 30 generals who support her said that hers was an unrealistic promise. Seems to me that she is “playing politics with war”.
Finally, HRC’s tactics have forced Obama to “come down to her level” (as ALL of the pundits said he would have to do after she employed her kitchen sink strategy), to some extent. He has not engaged in the politics of destruction that she has. But, he’s going to defend himself. So, all you HRC supporters need to quit smoking whatever she passed on to you, because the rest of America ‘aint buying it. Be like Bill, don’t inhale. SHE CANNOT/WILL NOT WIN THE NOMINATION.

What the “H” is going on in the Obama camp? Obama is this the reconciliation you seek, you’re advisers saying pretty dumb things that are offending all Democrats(e.g. Richardson’s view on the McCarthy comments). However, this is not the only mess up so far in the last 3 days for the Obama camp. When the Wright controversey first came out, I wasn’t too angered about it. However, it started to set in and now I am frustrated with Obama for his recent actions concerning it. Obama claims he wants this issue to die down, okay why release the photo of Clinton and Wright(Is anyone even talking about this photo, No they are talking about you and Wright, thanks for the reminder), and why of all the days should you choose to talk about the politicts let alone the Wright issue on EASTER of all days. This really got under my skin. For some reason Obama mentions the Wright controversey and compares it to a crusifixion. I have a number of problems with this, first why are you given an interview on Easter, whatever happened to keeping days holy. Secondly, how could you compare the Crusifixion(on Easter I might add) to the Wright controversey; I don’t care what your context is, this comparsion is ludicrous. You can defend Wright all you want, he has a right to say what he wants. I’m going to plead ignorance on what happens in African American churches but I doubt that the central theme is any different from any church in the U.S, the law of love procedes everything else. When I go to church there is a reading from the Bible and than the priest gives his interpretation of it and applies it to our lives. Basically, he is using the Bible and the words of Jesus to support his sermon. When Wright(or any revrend, preacher, priest, etc.) says things hateful(can anyone tell me why he gave a sermon on or even mentioned Hillary Clinton not knowing what it is to be black, this has no place in church), he is basically alluding that the Bible supports his view. WRONG! Such hateful comments, regardless of history, is the opposite of Jesus’s teachings and a corruption of Christianity. This is what angers me about the whole Wright controversey hatred has no place in the house of God, it is a corruption of why people go to Church. Yes the anger is real Obama, yes all oppressed people have a right to be angry; however, no one has a right to corrupt the Bible in order to fuel such anger, and the house of God should not act as a vessell towards increasing one’s anger. I’m not even a religious person but Obama’s treatment, not Wright, has really angered me. For all those people who yell out LET THIS ISSUE DIE ALREADY, that’s fine with me, but please tell Obama’s campaign and him to do so first!

I’m an Obama supporter, and I strongly disapprove of Hillary’s cheapshots and underhanded tactics. There is no way she can win the nomination without superdelegates overturning the will of the majority of Democrats, a tactic that will virtually ensure her defeat in November. And the longer she stays in and deflects fire from McCain, the harder it will be for Obama to win in November.
That said, on the off chance she manages to pull of this stunt, I’ll support her to the fullest in November. All of my fellow Democrats need to pledge to do the same. Right now, in the heat of the battle, it’s easy to get worked up and vow never to vote for the other Democrat (I’m guilty of this myself). But think about it, people. That’s the most juvenile approach to politics imaginable. Does anyone really believe McCain would be a better president than Clinton or Obama? Seriously? The guy has no economic agenda other than more tax cuts (and even more deficits) and can’t tell the difference between Iran and al Qaeda. Not the type of president I want running the show.

If you listened to the speech at all you know that Obama said that he could not disavow his pastor, but apparently you didn’t. You just threw out a divisive statement, you must be a Clinton supporter. Also do some spell check next time. Obama did however reject the divisive comments made by the pastor. And I wish you people would let Michigan and Florida go, EVERYONE knew the rules and these states were never an issue UNTIL Hillary was losing! She is DEFINITELY dividing the democratic party.

There are two speedbumps Obama must deal with.. the first is now, when people realize he has some warts and isn’t the second coming of Jack Kennedy. The second is when people actually start looking at the policies – “Change” starts to sound an awful lot like the Great Society Part Deux. Marginal tax rates of over 50%? Repudiation of treaties with Canada and Mexico?
Senator Obama has no history of being a uniter, of crossing the aisle when it mattered. Is that just supposed to ‘appear’ after the election?

Hell, Obama has to hit back, have you ever heard the saying “When in Rome?” Obama never wanted the campaign to be this way but in order to protect himself he is going to have to hit back. I hate to say it but John McCain is acting much more respectable than Hillary Clinton. If Hillary Clinton wins the nomination the Republicans are going to reach back into the Clinton administration and bring back all the “SKELETONS” the Clintons have in their closet. Obama on the other hand is going to be a much tougher opponent.

Please Voter take action. False witnesses rise up against Obama. Here comes the reporters and T.V. cameras. They make up stories and twist the facts. They appoint a wicked man against him, let an accuser give her a dose of his own medicine. When they are tried, let them be found guilty, let their prayer be counted as sin. Let his prayer be counted as sin. Let their own defending testimony in court be used against them. More and more government is using forfeiture laws to seize property. It is often legalized theft. “Lord, let those thieving bureaucrats lose everything.”

Joe H-Richardson on Superdelegates Last Month: Vote the Way Your State Votes (Oops)
March 21, 2008 2:54 PM
Superdelegate and new Obama-backer Gov. Bill Richardson told the New York Times
in February that a superdelegate’s vote “should reflect the vote of my state, it should represent the vote of my constituency. It shouldn’t be because you’re a fund-raiser or a big-shot delegate. Superdelegates should reflect their state or constituency. If superdelegates decide this nomination, it’s going to look like big-shot politicians and fat-cats decided who should be president.”
Er…Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, won New Mexico, Governor.

Bill Clinton tarnished the white house and the presidency and was impeached for it. let no american ever forget that. the guy was an embarrassment.

Posted by: joyce | March 24, 2008, 3:38 pm 3:38 pm

The “blue dress” is a legitimate issue. The most noteworthy commentary in the recent Obama/Clinton Austin debate was Hillary’s closing comment. A subtle and exceedingly well choreographed re-play of the “victim card” which has thus far been so eminently successful for her. Still again holding back the tears, Hillary inferred that she was the most qualified to be Commander-In-Chief because she “had been tested” by the public humiliation that she was forced to endure with the forced admission of Bill’s Monica caper. The unfortunate truth is that in the absence of the astute retention of the infamous “blue dress”, Hillary would have led the savaging-brigade against Monica precisely as she had done against Jennifer Flowers, Juanita Broderick, Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley, etc., etc.. Of course, the by-invitation-only audience took the bait “hook, line and sinker”.
The real question is do we want Hillary, the serial enabler, and Bill, the serial groper, to once again have the opportunity to scandalize the White House and the Presidency? Greg Neubeck

I can’t believe how bad the Democrats bolloxed up their Primary. First they hotshotted everything up front to try and make it a quick primary so Hillary would get confirmed quick and the GOP would stil be fighting it out and then that backfired. Then the “Rev. Wrong turn” incident and the Hillary C. vs. Barak O. battle just gets more and more brutal, and then not only Michigan gets thrown out but the Dems manage to screw things up all over Florida… again…. this is a royal Charlie Foxtrot if ever there was one. No, actually, the real question )for any thinking, patriotic American) is which of the three candidates is most likely to be successful given the current threats to our country: Islamic terrorism, economic sabotage from our trading partners, and subversion of the country by people like George Soros, who funds half the foaming-at-the-mouth left-wing blog sites in the country.

The Clinton’s should fire back at Obama and question the judgement let alone honesty of a man who would sit and absorb such racial hatred and America bashing that Obama has for the last 20 years with his buddy Rev. Wright. Obama is a con man and will divide not only the pathetic Democrat party, but all of America right down racial lines.
Obama is further revealed as a liar when he claimed today that he isn’t a liberal. His voting record proves otherwise. If he does succeed in stealing the election through voter fraud, a well known tactic of Chicago area Democrats, the American people will soon realize it and the Republicans will retake the House and Senate in the next election cycles. Then Obama will be nothing more than a seat warmer for the Republican who is elected in 2012.
And the alternative is Hillary? The Democratic party will go the way of the Whigs. What a bunch of clowns.

Dogsoldier, no one has said that Obama is responsible for Rev. Wright’s statements. What people understand is that Obama has been indoctrinated by that hatemonger for the last 20 years and only disavowed Wright’s statements when he got caught. You don’t call a guy like Wright your spiritual advisor and make him an advisor to your campaign unless you agree with him politically. You can make up excuses all you want but anyone with an IQ above 60 knows Obama is a racist, America hating con man. And his behavior shows and incredible lack of judgement for someone who wants to lead this country.

Gordon Fischer is being “let off the hook” for making these vicious comments about an ex-president.
This is the way Sen. Obama gets his jabs out there. He is allowing these people to speak on his behalf and then pretends to not condone these attacks when they come back to roost on his front doorstep. This is not the politics we have come to expect from Sen. Obama and his camp of “merry men”.
This IS the type of comments we have come to expect out of politicians that will do and say anything to get elected. And I think THIS is a prime example of WHAT Sen. Obama truly demonstrates. He is that type of politician.
If he wasn’t then he would agree to let Michigan and Florida have their “re-vote” and have their votes count in this primary season. But currently he won’t allow it. He has instructed his foot soldiers, like Fischer here, to act in his behalf and stonewall any attempt at an agreement.
This has got to stop. Sen. Obama says one thing and does something quite different.
Simply saying,

What we can expect from the Clintons in the White House, more lies about what they did and did not do: Here 1 of them:
“I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.”
–Hillary Clinton, speech at George Washington University, March 17, 2008.
Hillary Clinton has been regaling supporters on the campaign trail with hair-raising tales of a trip she made to Bosnia in March 1996. In her retelling, she was sent to places that her husband, President Clinton, could not go because they were “too dangerous.” When her account was challenged by one of her traveling companions, the comedian Sinbad, she upped the ante and injected even more drama into the story. In a speech earlier this week, she talked about “landing under sniper fire” and running for safety with “our heads down.”
There are numerous problems with Clinton’s version of events.
The Facts
(Updated below)
As a reporter who visited Bosnia soon after the December 1995 Dayton Peace agreement, I can attest that the physical risks were minimal during this period, particularly at a heavily fortified U.S. Air Force base, such as Tuzla. Contrary to the claims of Hillary Clinton and former Army secretary Togo West, Bosnia was not “too dangerous” a place for President Clinton to visit in early 1996. In fact, the first Clinton to visit the Tuzla Air Force base was not Hillary, but Bill, on January 13, 1996.
Had Hillary Clinton’s plane come “under sniper fire” in March 1996, we would certainly have heard about it long before now. Numerous reporters, including the Washington Post’s John Pomfret, covered her trip. A review of nearly 100 news accounts of her visit shows that not a single newspaper or television station reported any security threat to the First Lady. “As a former AP wire service hack, I can safely say that it would have been in my lead had anything like that happened,” said Pomfret.
According to Pomfret, the Tuzla airport was “one of the safest places in Bosnia” in March 1996, and “firmly under the control” of the 1st Armored Division.
Far from running to an airport building with their heads down, Clinton and her party were greeted on the tarmac by smiling U.S. and Bosnian officials. An eight-year-old Moslem girl, Emina Bicakcic, read a poem in English. An Associated Press photograph of the greeting ceremony, above, shows a smiling Clinton bending down to receive a kiss.
“There is peace now,” Emina told Clinton, according to Pomfret’s report in the Washington Post the following day, “because Mr. Clinton signed it. All this peace. I love it.”
The First Lady’s schedule, released on Wednesday and available here, confirms that she arrived in Tuzla at 8.45 a.m. and was greeted by various dignitaries, including Emina Bicakcic, (whose name has mysteriously been redacted from the document.)
You can see CBS News footage of the arrival ceremony here. The footage shows Clinton walking calmly out of the back of the C-17 military transport plane that brought her from Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.
Among the U.S. officials on hand to greet Clinton at the airport was Maj. Gen. William Nash, the commander of U.S. troops in Bosnia. Nash told me that he was unaware of any security threat to Clinton during her eight-hour stay in Tuzla. He said, however, that Clinton had a “busy schedule” and may have got the impression that she was being hurried on her way. See clarification below.
According to Sinbad, who provided entertainment on the trip along with the singer Sheryl Crow, the “scariest” part was deciding where to eat. As he told Mary Ann Akers of The Post, “I think the only ‘red-phone’ moment was: ‘Do we eat here or at the next place.’” Sinbad questioned the premise behind the Clinton version of events. “What kind of president would say ‘Hey man, I can’t go ’cause I might get shot so I’m going to send my wife. Oh, and take a guitar player and a comedian with you.”
Replying to Sinbad earlier this week, Clinton dismissed him as “a comedian.” Her campaign referred me to Togo West, who was also on the trip and is a staunch Hillary supporter. West could not remember “sniper fire” himself, but said there was no reason to doubt the First Lady’s version of events. “Everybody’s perceptions are different,” he told me.
Clinton made no mention of “sniper fire” in her autobiography “Living History,” published in 2003, although she did say there were “reports of snipers” in the hills around the airport.
UPDATE Friday 6:45 p.m.
Lissa Muscatine, who served as Hilary Clinton’s chief speechwriter in 1996 and accompanied her on the Bosnia trip, feels that I have failed to provide a full picture of what took place. She gave me her “vivid recollections” of the arrival in Tuzla, which I quote below:
I was on the plane with then First Lady Hillary Clinton for the trip from Germany into Bosnia in 1996. We were put on a C17– a plane capable of steep ascents and descents — precisely because we were flying into what was considered a combat zone. We were issued flak jackets for the final leg because of possible sniper fire near Tuzla. As an additional precaution, the First Lady and Chelsea were moved to the armored cockpit for the descent into Tuzla. We were told that a welcoming ceremony on the tarmac might be canceled because of sniper fire in the hills surrounding the air strip. From Tuzla, Hillary flew to two outposts in Bosnia with gunships escorting her helicopter.
UPDATE Saturday 8:45 a.m.
Gen. Nash says that I misquoted him in saying he was unaware of any “security threat” to the First Lady. While he was unaware of any “sniper threat,” he now tells me there were a couple of “security concerns” that day, which he found out about after returning to his headquarters after greeting Clinton at the airport. There was a “non-specific report” of a possible truck bomb in the area. The military also had information that “some of the communications associated with the First Lady’s visit were being monitored.”
“In both cases, we took appropriate security action,” said Nash, adding that Clinton’s visit was not disrupted.
Anybody else with first-hand memories of Clinton’s Tuzla trip, please send them along.
The Pinocchio Test:
Clinton’s tale of landing at Tuzla airport “under sniper fire” and then running for cover is simply not credible. Photographs and video of the arrival ceremony, combined with contemporaneous news reports, tell a very different story. Four Pinocchios.

tiredofthelackofknowledge, you better check again. Hillary Clinton’s proposal is not just for a summit, as was Obama’s. As usual, she has thought this through and has a 4-point plan. This is innovative; this will get bi-partisan support. It is not Obama’s kumbaya, let’s all get together and talk. Here is a snippet:
Text size – + Clinton calls for action on housing crisis

Hillary Clinton called this morning for emergency, far-reaching steps to stem home foreclosures, saying the crisis is weakening the entire economy.
In what her campaign billed as a major policy speech, she outlined a four-point plan that includes giving more aid so homeowners in danger of losing their houses can restructure their mortgages, launching a high-powered working group that would report back in three weeks on ways to broadly restructure at-risk mortgages, easing legal liability for mortgage servicers to help unfreeze the mortgage market, and giving states and cities an additional $30 billion to fight foreclosures..

I am undecided but I’m kinda surprised how America would alone herself to always be intoxicated with the Clintons. They have done worse crime than any other American leader in or out of office, yet Americans are even willing to listen to them.
Obama is been crucified everyday, not for what he said, but for what his former pastor said, which makes so much sense IF the entire sermon is reviewed. If it was Obama that lied the way Hillary did, the whole media will be all over the place. Double standard I must say.
Maybe if hillary becomes president, then Chelsea might come next, and who knows, maybe Bill again. We can criticise dictators like Mugabe, North Korea et al if we cannot tell an ambitious family the truth. that to me is HYPOCRISY. Bill Clinton have made terrible comments not befitting a president so he got a reply he well deserves which by the way happens to be THE FACT not spin.

Any republican could have warned you all about this but for some reason democrats choose to remain ignorant of the facts and track record. Remember how she was busted repeatedly for planting questions a few months ago? Nope, didn’t think so; She is successful because democrats can’t seem to remember anything without seeing it distorted through their own filter.

The Obama crowd is a vicious one. It has been so from the moment he became a contender. What I cannot understand is how the followers of such a stand up guy seem to be such a dim reflection of their chosen leader…Perhaps they are not such a dim reflection, after all? Surprises, surprises.

Posted by: Lilia | March 24, 2008, 4:36 pm 4:36 pm

The comment was strong but it was well reasoned in every respect. It was not gratuitous name-calling, it was not “stupid”, and it was not unrelated to the “issues” of the day–which as defined by the media is anything anyone says. In fact it was clever and apt.
It’s one thing to not make Clinton I the center of your campaign–which Obama has been careful not to do. It’s quite something else to make no reference to it at all even as Clinton I is attacking you like you’re not from the same country, much less the same party.
It never really occurred to either Clinton that they would not win this election. And now that they see that this is most likely, they are doing their best monster impersonations–and doing a damned good job at them.
This too shall pass. And my regrets to anyone who is offended by my support of the blue dress comment. Perhaps we can find common ground on some other issue.

Subject: note on obama church & changes, include definition of term “diaspora”
The original “About Us” page from Obama’s Trinity United Church of Christ was altered last week and should be noted as being done within the 24 hrs surrounding the time of Obama’s so-called historic speech that was crafted as a defense of his close relationship with pastor Wright and the Trinity UCC.
BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL “ABOUT US” PAGE FROM OBAMA’S CHURCH that was posted on their website until the time of his defensive speech last week, at which time the church rushed to add nearly a whole page of more acceptable christian verbiage to precede the original message. I have the original web pages saved on my computer as a web archive and am able to refer, copy or otherwise share them… However, if a casual browser now went to the tucc website he/she will get a screen full of regular christian passages that don’t contain anything controversial or inflammatory. Also, a casual browser might not know that he/she must now scroll down nearly a whole page past the new passages to see the original page. [In case you are wondering about the term "diaspora" Diaspora - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: The term diaspora (in Ancient Greek, διασπορά – "a scattering or sowing of seeds") refers to any people or ethnic population forced or induced to leave ... ] Of additional interest is the page CFABS, which includes a link to the original mission statement and language about being an African nation and “remaining true to the mother continent”…)
BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL “ABOUT US” PAGE FROM OBAMA’S CHURCH…THIS IS THE MISSION AND VISION THAT HE AGREED TO COMMIT HIMSELF TO AS A MEMBER OF THIS CHURCH:
We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian… Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain “true to our native land,” the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.
The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:
A congregation committed to ADORATION.
A congregation preaching SALVATION.

What’s wrong with invoking the blue dress? It’s a fact of history. Are we supposed to develop mass amnesia? The press should be exploring the long and tawdry list of scandals in which both Clintons have been involved, as they have direct relevance to how Hillary would govern. Mrs. Clinton’s very candidacy depends on the forgiveness AND forgetfulness of the American public, and the press — through its ineptitude and in some cases bias — is allowing her to recast herself and dodge controversies of the past. Eg. when Tim Russert asked Mrs. Clinton about the fact that her brothers received hundreds of thousands of dollars to lobby Bill for pardons — which he granted — she denied knowing anything about it. Russert never asked a follow-up, and the press never probed this OBVIOUS lie.

It’s silly and quite puerile to infer that President Clinton was “quetioning Obama’s patriotism”
Mr. Clinton was merely pointing out the obvious.
Everything in his maturation background and political track record makes it plainly clear that Senator Obama is an International Socialist, not an American Nationalist.

How can anyone impugn the patriotism of Senator Obama. After all, anyone who has served his country in the uniform of it’s military should get a pass on questions of patriotism. Since we have an all volunteer military, everyone who enlists should be considered a patriot and those who do not are like the stain on Monica’s dress.

Ha! try forming your own opinions for once instead of getting your talking points from the media and not researching them yourselves. In the last week Obama has given speeches about National Security and the War in Iraq – but apparently none of you have done your homework. I dare any one of you to listen to his full speech on race – not just the soundbites – and still call him racist or devisive. Grow up – with all the information out there today, there is no excuse for this type of ignorance. Barrack is an amazing leader who is that rarest of things in politics today – a good person. He actually wants to make this country better. There will always be negative forces resistant to change. Eventually, they will fail.

Oh, and the difference between Obama and Hilary are clear. While the Obama staff may occasionally make these kind of ignorant comments, they are always denounced (the comments) immediately. And BO never, I repeat EVER, makes these kinds of comments himself. But Hilary constantly says these hateful, and patently untrue comments about Senator Obama. She is campaigning just the like the Republicans, and as a former Hilary supporter, I have been absolutely disgusted by her conduct and would rather vote for McCain than Clinton in ’08. Thank God McCain isn’t campaigning that way, and neither is obama. These two will have a fair race about the issues – and I have no doubt that, in the end, Obama will win. A leader like him only comes around once in a lifetime. And before any of you write about how bad he is again, once again, I dare you to listen to the entirety of one of his speeches and still hold the same opinion.

We don’t need to be reminded because it has nothing to do with this campaign. Everytime I see someone bring up the “blue dress” I plan to bring up the nasty, air-hunching Reverend Wright, who Obama placed on Obama’s campaign. I plan to bring this up at least 10 times for each 1 blue dress mention I hear. The two are not equivalent of course, the nasty pastor was part of the campaign but the dress is not.

Calling him a “key advisor” to the Obama campaign is absurd. He’s a volunteer in a single state, just one of many leaders in Obama’s enormous ground organization. I severely doubt he is on staff.
The only reason you are making this strained connection to Obama is because you want to score a cheap political point against Obama. You’re trying to rustle up another one of these silly “gotcha” moments than do nothing but distract us from the issues. You should be ashamed.

Navarro, et al. – you need to do some research about McCarthy. That’s the problem with so many Americans in today’s time, they don’t think for themselves, don’t do extensive research on anything before expressing an opinion, and actually come off more ignorant than anyone over the age of 55 can believe. #1 if you only tune into the liberal media, you’re not going to have the facts. #2 democrat talking points aren’t a good way to discuss a viewpoint or to debate an issue. #3 republican talking points aren’t either. #4 Start thinking for yourself!
Regarding the comment on “today’s new voter”, you don’t know what you are talking about!Your existence has you at the center. How would you recognize a “good man” or a “good woman”? Ignorance is not bliss, and if the United States Congress doesn’t get term limits into place, electing a new president isn’t going to do a damn thing. Our political picture in America is skewed. If the president is limited to two terms, why aren’t all the other federal elected positions? When an old man who can hardly move or talk or think takes up time ranting on the Senate or House floor, what good ever can come of it. Term Limits is the only answer – then Americans will see real change instead of the same old ideas and politicians pandering to the special interest groups. Thanks for listening to a frustrated American woman who is sick and tired of Bill, Hill, Barry & McCain. Not one single one of them will be able to change a damn thing as long as you have members of Congress who’ve never had any other job and have made it their lifetime occupation. Their only interest is: what can I do to make sure I get re elected so I don’t have to venture out into the REAL world.

Bill Clinton knows what he is doing.
He is a master of throwing stones then trying to hide his hand.
The Clintons and the Clintonites want it both ways.
You are supposed to appreciate how slick they are.
But you are not supposed to hold them to anything they say.
Then, lo and behold, they get all prissy about an unfortunate mention of a stain on a blue dress.
The allusion wasn’t uplifting, and therefore was unfortunate to be associated with the Obama campaign.
But even the mention doesn’t compare with Bill Clinton’s serial loutishness, and Hillary’s enabling behaviors starting at least with Gennifer Flowers–all so she could share power.
The victims of Lewinsky et. al. were not the Clintons.
It may or may not have been Lewinsky et. al. (We were not there.)
And the victimizers were not just a band of hypocritical GOPers like Newt Gingrich and Bob Livingston.
The real victims were the American people.
Thanks for the memories, Bill, Hillary, Newt, Bob, and the rest of you who chose the paths you did and thus succeeded in making politics, not an honorable adventure as Robert F. Kennedy used to say, but a swamp tailor made for privateers.
(For those who mock Barack Obama’s politics of hope, remember it was the tough but sensitive RFK who used to challenge us not to see things as they are, and ask why, but to dream of things that never were, and say, why not?)
Obama still offers that hope and those dreams.
Let’s make politics an honorable adventure once again, Democrats.
But Bill and Hillary had their chance and blew it.
Let the torch pass to others, more ennobling and more worthy.

So, let me get this right.
Are the Clinton supporters trying to say that it’s not a sitting President staining a girl’s blue dress in the White House, while the First Lady is two rooms away, who is scandalous, but that it is some guy who dares to remind of that scandalous act on his blog many years later who is scandalous?
What kind of people are these Clinton supporters? Think of it. And think of having such scandals in the White House again. With a return of the Clintons America would lose a last possibility to restore its heavily damaged credibility and moral reliability in the world. That damage was done by a Clinton and a Bush; we need to get rid of these families who are transforming our great republic into some decadent oligarchy.

Now, who is playing dirty politics?
Obama is in for a rude awakening if he were to win the nomination.
Carville calls Richardson “Judas” and CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and FOX say how terrible, then McPeak, an Obama supporter calls Bill Clinton a McCarthy and the same media gleefully report that without condemning it.
Guys, look at yourself in the mirror.

Is there a reason why this blog is about a blue dress instead of the latest Clinton lie? Remember Hillary and all that sniper fire in Bosnia? All that foreign policy experience? Now, the Clinton campaign says she “mispoke.”
NYT 3/25
“I spoke with William Nash, who was the commander of U.S. troops in Bosnia and was at the Tuzla airport with Hillary Clinton. He said there was no threat of sniper fire at the airport during her visit. He said that Mrs. Clinton was gracious during her visit and took pictures with the soldiers, but “she never had her head down. There was no sniper threat that I know of.”
Misspoke is probably better than lying and then lying about lying:
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement….Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.” Slate, 9/13/98

I misdated or mispoke – take your pick. It’s 3/24. Pick a date – he lied, he was my President, it was wrong, and she lied, and there was no sniper fire.

“In a radio interview on the “Michael Smerconish Show” that aired Monday in Philadelphia, Obama defended the church, saying it is “not some crackpot church,” and pointing out that Bill Clinton also had ties to Wright.
Clinton invited Wright to the White House when he was going through his impeachment crisis. ”
———
Don’t know what others think, but does Obama really think Cliton’s “tie” to Wright is comparable to his? Is he playing with people’s brains or what?

Posted by: Victor | March 24, 2008, 8:57 pm 8:57 pm

Mara,
check the Political Radar blog here at ABC for that incredible Bosnia story.
You’re totally right, THAT is serious stuff. It’s about the presidential candidate producing plain lies about her foreign policy experiences, and there’s pattern already in these lies. It’s not about aides, spokespersons, pastors, anti-Hillary movies, corrupts sponsors etc – it’s about the candidate lying about what is at stake in this contest, and Hillary is the only one doing just that.

I’m getting a bit weary with the explicitly personal attacks on Hillary and Bill Clinton–whether by Gordon Fischer, the MSNBC crowd or whoever. Clinton comments about Jesse Jackson, “loving country,” were not directly anti-Obama, but had to be interpreted to be such. But the Obama responses require no interpretation, they are explicit. And yet the Obama campaign is said to be “pure.”

McCarthy was stalled by those Army-McCarthy hearings along with the censure investigations. He conducted his investigations from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, whose mandate was to investigate the federal government. His targets were Soviet sympathizers and spies. For years people who should not have been in our government were, not only that, but welcomed with open arms. Liberal media one after another ran with any story, without investigating the truth (kind of like Dan Rather) and the scare was on. Yeah, we’ve read alot about his alcohol problem and big mouth BUT the hollywood elite kept up the constant bashing of McCarthy because he CORRECTLY identified some that truly were communist sympathizers. I would read in a heart beat, a true accounting of the McCarthy era. What I know has been picked up in bits and pieces over the years. For sure, whenever a democrat wants to insinuate a “campaign against everything I believe in” posture, they always, always use the phrase, “like McCarthy”. It’s disgusting. It’s ridiculous that the American public believes a documentary done by PBS. Give me a break, have they done anything but the liberal slant and talking points? Don’t quote out of articles written by the left wing elitist. Yeah, he found them out but his personality got in the way. Let’s remember, years later we found out many of the “I’m not a communist” indeed turned out to be card carrying members. What you learned in school – was written by teachers unions which wouldn’t teach children real history if their lives depended on it. I remember asking my history teacher, “why on earth is Armand Hammer so involved in our government”, his answer. “Now that is a great man”. No, he was an odious man. But my history teacher wanted the kids to learn HIS BELIEF system. Don’t believe everything you read. Try reading some conservative historical non fiction along with those liberal books lining your bookshelf.

A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION.
A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION.
A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION.
A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.
A congregation committed to LIBERATION.
A congregation committed to RESTORATION.
A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.
The media has not questioned Obama on these commitments  or these commitments having an inference of allegiance and patriotism to Africa first with no mention of the allegiance, patriotism, or otherwise value and worth of being American.

As a foreigner looking into the American election, I fail to understand why the American people would want the wife of an impeached President be their next president.
It seems to be that the American people got caught up in a time warp and couldn’t get out of it.
While the rest of the world is moving forward, the American people seemed to be choosing the other direction.

mrlc,
I understand your concern, but the “About Us ” page you are refering to on the church’s website is not an “Anti-White” statement nor is it an “Anti- American” statement. The church is simply honoring the memory and the struggles of a people who have suffered. It is simply saying that it will never forget it’s ancestors or the people in Africa who are still suffering. When you here the word ‘Black’ mentioned over and over again you must understand that doesn’t mean ‘ANTI-WHITE’ Just as when you hear God, in the Bible, speak of his loyalty and love of the Jewish people he is not anti- gentile. Now, I am not excusing the remarks made by Rev. Wright. I simply wanted to bring a little clarity.
To me, the bigger story in this Rev. Wright controversy,, is the congregations white members. If the church was, as some call it “the black equivalent of the KKK”, why would they have white members. There were white people in those clips. I don’t think any black person would willingly be a member of the “KKK”. I would really love to see some of them interviewed to get their perspective.

I appreciate Gordon Fischer’s reminder to every Democrat that there is at least one more 800-lb gorilla in the room, besides the patriotism question that the Clintons and Republicans are trying to handcuff to Senator Obama, the race relations issue, the Rezko issue, etc.
Gen. Tony McPeak, James Carville, Gordon Fischer, Bill Richardson — they all serve to keep the conversation lively on the Democratic side so that our candidate is fully-vetted long before they become the nominee.
It was not the Swift Boat Veteran’s attacks that brought down John Kerry in 2004 — it was his own lack of a strong response to them — so we must fully vet our OWN nominee before the other side does it for us.
Geraldine Ferraro actually served the Dems well, and the nation, by making her outlandish statement because how many more millions were latently thinking the same? And Fox News’ distortion of Rev. Wright’s fiery sermons — didn’t these two attacks bring about Sen. Obama’s strong and swift response? That speech was something Americans desparately needed to hear and were it not for the two attacks, the Philly speech would not have happened.
We don’t want our nominee to be milk-toast when they face John McBush in the fall. And, no matter who wins the Presidency, they need to be able to face the leaders of rouge nations with a steady thumb on the red button. I’d much rather have the rough and tumble occur NOW, to fully vet our Commander- in-Chief rather than to solely offer on-the-job training. Staring down Mahmoud Ahmidenijad, Kim Jong-il, or Hugo Chavez — Mr. or Mrs. Milk-toast will not be able to handle it.
If we’re all adults here, then Kudos to Gordon — do we really want to elect the spouse of a House-impeached President who questions the patriotism of his spouse’s opponent? Really? Well, if so, then stained blue dresses are the least of Mrs. Clinton’s worries.
Wait until the Republicans have at her in the fall. We need to tame THIS 800-lb gorilla ASAP! Thank you, Gordon, for helping us to do so, now, before the Republicans have a chance to do her in next fall.

The Obama camp wants Hillary to get out before all states have their say, yet they call her entitled. I find that so funny.. who thinks they are entitled now?

Perhaps there is one positive aspect of having Barack Hussein Obama as the Democratic presidential nominee.
Evidence from Obama’s inability to win high electoral vote states strongly indicates that he cannot win in the general election in November. No caucus manipulation there.
Whether the negatives eminate from his radical left positions, his questionable business deals and contributors(Rezko, Ayers, and others), his hateful and offensive religious ties (Jeremiah Wright), or his hidden racism (“typical white person”), Republicans would politically emasculate Obama in a presidential election.
As evidenced with past Democratic losers (Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry), Obama’s national political potential would be effectively eliminated.
A world without the plague of Obama.
Now there is change we can believe in.

So many Obama supporters on this thread are having hissy-fits about Senator Clinton’s Bosnian lie.
Where was the indignation when the NYTimes documented that Obama had lied to audiences in Iowa by saying that he had passed legislation in the Senate tightening regulation of the nuclear industry.
Not only was no such legislation passed, the bill he introduced he watered down to no regulation when one of his biggest contributors, Exelon, the largest nuclear company in America, lobbied him.
Let’s talk about this lie, let alone the lies Obama has told about his spiritual mentor.

I think Hillary should stay in the race, till the end. She has run such a good race so far, in spite of all her disadvantages (superior name recognition, big lead in fundraising before the primaries).
90 Days into the Primary she’s trailing a guy most people had never heard of even 6 months ago, and her campaign is dead broke. She’s running a campaign based almost exclusively on “experience”, which will work well against McCain who had only been in Congress for 20 years before Hillary had ever been elected to any public office. Did I mention McCain is a Bona Fide WAR HERO, not the imaginary “I think I recall sniper fire” kind.
So her only tactic left is to play the victim: “They keep asking me questions first”,
“I’m not winning because of Florida and Michigan, let have a do-over”
“Hey they brought up Monica’s dress, that’s not fair!”
If she plans to run the country like she has run her campaign…

I have been totally turned off By the Obama campaign and his constant whining.
He plays innocent but lashes out in the worst of ways.
He lost my vote.

Don’t say Obama doesn’t approve some of these things. He just likes others to do it so he can then come off as the innocent.

The next time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I mean, I do know it was my option to read, but I really thought youd have something fascinating to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you might fix when you werent too busy in search of attention.
