Obama Wins in Iowa — Again

ABC News’ Teddy Davis reports: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., saw his delegate lead over Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., grow by 10 on Saturday when Iowa Democrats took the second step in picking national convention delegates.

Obama’s gains at Saturday’s county conventions came from successfully wooing Iowa Democratic Party activists who had previously backed former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., as well as picking up the support of some Iowans who had backed Clinton during the Jan. 3rd precinct caucuses.

As a result of Saturday’s county conventions, Obama gained nine delegates, Clinton lost one, and Edwards lost eight delegates. Moving up by nine while Clinton moved down by one gave Obama a net gain of 10 over his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The delegate allocations changed from Jan. 3 because delegates’ presidential preferences are allowed to change prior to the springtime state party convention.

To highlight the significance of Obama netting 10 delegates at Saturday’s low-profile Iowa county conventions, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe issued a statement juxtaposing it with Clinton’s high-profile win earlier this month in Ohio’s primary.

"With all of the results in," said Plouffe in a statement whose accuracy was confirmed by the Iowa Democratic Party, "Sen. Obama earned 25 delegates, while Sen. Clinton earned 14. Sen. Obama netted 10 delegates tonight."

"For comparison purposes," he added, "Sen. Clinton netted nine delegates in Ohio” by winning that state’s primary on March 4.

Overall, Obama now leads Clinton by 189 delegates, according to an ABC News estimate. In all, Obama has 1,614 delegates, including 1,407 pledged delegates and 207 superdelegates. Clinton has 1,485 delegates, including 1,240 pledged delegates and 245 superdelegates. A total of 2,025 delegates are needed to earn the Democratic presidential nomination.

Even better. Another great victory for Obama. Keep the momentum GOING.

did Obama go after clinton’s delegate so clinton lost one?

Posted by: MQ | March 16, 2008, 12:46 pm 12:46 pm

No, Clinton lost the delegate ALL on her own…she didn’t need ANY help.

Im not an Obama supporter but I must admit that unlike others who have been bashing him over his pastor I would say he handled it well. Compare and contrast that with Hillary and Ferraro or McCain and Pastor Hagee. To me this means he can handle a crisis very well. I wish him well.

Edwards’ delegates can vote for whomever they like and they like Obama. (I happen to agree with them)

It is MOST ALARMING to see just how many Black Americans embrace the views of Rev. Wright! As was clear by the words of the guests on Bill O’Reilly’s show Friday Evening. The two black female pundints were very clear that “Many Black Americans agree with Rev. Wright”.
Regardless of the relationship between Obama and Wright. So many who do agree with Rev Wright see Barack Obama as a President who will further their agenda. THAT! is SCARY!!!!

Clinton too liberal and Obama lack experience, so vote for McCain.

To dem in chicago: Cool, I am glad you agree that delegates can vote for whomever they choose. I hope you ALSO agree, UNLIKE you leader, that superdelegates can vote for whomever they choose too! So there should be no whining when the majority picks Hillary.

Obama wins in Iowa, again? Does that mean he gives another rousing, moving, inspiring victory speech? Lay it on me, please.

Who cares if he gets more delegates. What I care about his his realtionship with this Rev. Wright Black Activist for 20 years. That speaks volumes.
You can’t dance around this one Osama.
“Obama clearly realizes that his spiritual mentor could be a major political liability – which explains why, at the last minute, he canceled plans to have Wright deliver an invocation at his presidential-campaign kickoff.”
I would never vote OBAMA, not even if they paid me 50 mil.

All other stations report the Demmocratic Party of Iowa says Obama gained 7 delegates for a net of 6.
ABC news is the only station reporting these numbers, just so people know.

I see the momentum is still going in the Obama camp. People please recognize what is at play here. The strategy is divide and conquer. We have to stand behind our top democratic candidate. If we don’t do this we will be heading for the “Great Depression” with the Republican administration.

Obama said on a plane the other day that he was 80% there. I just did the math and including the Texas caucus delegates he was right on. That’s a nice psychological boost for the Obama campaign.

ON this week, george Stephanopolis also said Obama only picked up seven delegates in IOWA.
So ABC news has reported three different totals for Obama from the IOWA county convention.
Perhaps they could get their story stright with Confirmation from Gary Langer.

This attention to Obama’s pastor is ridiculous–Obama has repudiated what this man has said on certain occasions. Let’s now examine what the ministers on the Right have had to say. I don’t hear McCain repudiating their racist homophobic rhetoric and let’s examine Ms. Clinton’s religious connections–she was First Lady of Arkansas, not exactly a bastion of progressive thinking. Clinton wooed segregationists to win the governorship. Let’s face it-all of the candidates have connections to people of questionable morality and/or outlandish opinions. If you’re looking to elect Jesus Christ, you’re out of luck. Take the time to learn where the candidates stand on the issues that mean something to you and look at their actual actions and stop getting side-tracked on by the sideshow of who’s got the wackiest supporter. It’s meaningless and gets us no where.

It is refreshing that the majority of views realize that there is nothing in the the Rev Wright story. We know Obama is a patriot and is absolutely not a racist.I for one believes he is a man of good character, who has a vision to improve the lives and the well being of All Americans.

Hillary has figured out she cannot win the nomination without turning white voters against Barrack Obama (she has to win the remaining states like Pa. and NC by larger numbers to pick up additional votes). She will turn to people like her husband, Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro, to inflame Black’s to the point the point that Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson and Al Shappton jump in and really “inflame” the passions of white voters.. Hillary will stand by and point her finger at someone else, and say “I did not do it, they did”. She already know’s the majority of voters that support her are idiot’s anyway, and are stupid enough to fall for her new strategy….Smearjay

Posted by: smearjay | March 16, 2008, 1:23 pm 1:23 pm

Oh, by the way, Lindbergh was a Nazi sympathizer and he’s considered a national hero. Farrakhan is a wacko and everyone knows it, but so was Falwell, Robertson, Limbaugh and O’Reilly. But none of those kranks are running for president (thank God) so stop focusing on them and instead focus on changing our screwed up healthcare system, the economy and getting us out of Iraq.

Going to church every sunday morning who preaches hate for the last 20 years is a problem. The question is not whether he can get the most delegates, but whether he can get elected in November. You already see Obama’s supporters who voted for him weeks ago already hating him is already a problem.

Posted by: smearjay | March 16, 2008, 1:29 pm 1:29 pm

This Edward’s supporter never, for one minute, even considered moving to Obama. I do not think he stands any chance at all winning in November nor do I think he has the experience necessary for the job. My vote and contributions went to Hillary who is supremely capable to handle the duties of the Oval Office.

I’m sorry but I just don’t trust Obama anymore. How can he claim to represent all the peoples of America when he is STILL a member of a racist and divisive church that writes its sermons around hating one particular skin color. I just saw a video of the new pastor claiming that gangsta rap was written by white corporations. This is just ridiculous. This is the church our president goes to that he takes his children to? no way. I am profoundly disappointed in Obama

Many mainstream media outlets are NOT playing the videos of Rev. Wright.
Why? Because they’re Obama people, and they KNOW those will ruin him.
The Republicans are making commercials of this as we speak. Obama is toast.

Posted by: Jo | March 16, 2008, 1:35 pm 1:35 pm

Hey “Ed”,
OBAMA handled it well? OBAMA had all facts in his possession, he knew unequivocally that the pastor was a rascist, and yet STILL posted the pastor to his campaign. Ferraro pulled a surprise on Clinton, wasn’t publicly known to be racially insensitive, and Clinton took action with the new facts. I guess that is what OBAMA means by the “Audacity of Hope”, for I would say that OBAMA’s actions were fairly audacious. When the cook intentionally adds a strain of manure to the pie the pie doesn’t sound quite as tasty does it?

Clearly, the democrats in Iowa are thinking more clearly than many of the posters and posers on this blog. While many have tried to make a mountain out of a molehill over a few fiery, over-the-top speeches/sermons by Rev. Wright, it is encouraging to see that most thinking americans will not let that stand in the way of voting for real change and hope in these trying times!
I tried to post some links, to Rev. Wright’s “Audacity of Hope” sermon, which so inspired Senator Obama, to Senator Obama’s video response to the controversy, and to a sermon by TUCC’s new pastor, but the post was cen sored (even while they allow some of the racist stuff we continue to see in Obama attackers). Go find it for yourself on Y-Tube.
For those who say, “I can never vote for Obama,” I feel sorry for you in your short-sightedness and willingness to see John McCain win the WH.

Obama is not responsible for every word uttered by his former pastor. I cannot think of anyone where I agree with everything that they say, including my own pastor. I agree with most of the things my pastor preaches, but not all of them. I have even considered at times changing my church membership, but when I have visited other churches, I find myself in the same situation after time: I agree with most of the things that the preacher at the new church states, BUT NOT ALL. Obama has clearly shown who HE is during his tenure in the Illinois state legislature and the US Senate, and who he is does not match the rhetoric of his pastor. The same goes for Hillary. She is not responsible for everything said by her supporters. Obama and Clinton can denounce and reject the things that they disagree with, but in the end, we as voters must judge the candidates on who they are, not who their supporters are.

His largest number of support is from blacks voting black for no other reason than he is black. I’d like to see a white try that.
I am pro education, pro choice, pro gay, anti war and pro gun ban. I am about as democtatic as you can get, but I refuse to accept racism in my party. I do not accept it or condone it. I will never support Obama as he is the root of it all.

This is not just about Obama’s pastor, it’s about a congregation that he belonged to for 20 years. In the videos the congregation is clapping and cheering, no one booed or walked out. Every representative of Trinity that has been interviewed has defended Wright’s statements. The website has been changed a couple times since Obama entered this race to hide the offensive material. I’m sorry, but there is no excuse for this. It’s like being part of the KKK, then saying I wasn’t at all the meetings.

I’ve done some thinking as to how Barack could best parlay the Hillary ad that dogged him so much in the Texas and Ohio campaigns. If she persists in using it in future campaigns, his producers should counter with their own ad that purports to extend Hillary’s ad:
It’s 1997. Ah the good old days. 3AM. Hillary is busily reflecting in her diary on her latest foreign policy achievements. The red phone rings:
Hillary: Hello?
Cut to a dark haired bimbo eating a cheeseburger in bed while watching an old movie. That day’s blue dress is draped across an adjacent chair. She is obviously lonely. And she obviously still has unfulfilled needs before she can get to sleep. Maybe the President of the United States can spare a few more minutes for her…..
Bimbo: Hello, is Bill there?
Cut to Bill in bed, gut hanging over the edge, fast in sleep. He’s got a mask over his eyes because she has had that damned light on all night. And, it was a hard day at the office.
Cut to Hillary, obviously agitated.
Hillary: I guess it depends of what the meaning of “is” is. He can’t come to the phone right now.
Bimbo: Ok, just tell him Monica called….I’ll catch him at the office in a day or two….
Now there’s a red phone moment. And Hillary’s right. She probably does have more experience in handling a 3AM call like that than does Barack.
So much for experience.
Hey, brainstorm ! Maybe Barack can convince the Saturday Night Live folks to use something like this in one of their skits and give him some equal airtime !
Only in America.

Does anyone really believe that you can attend one church for twenty years and not know that your pastor is as passionate about hating America as Rev. Wright is? Either Obama is not telling us the truth or is totally inept at judging people. In either case, the conclusion is scary. Our next president must be both honest and capable of judging the other world leaders. My gut feeling is Obama is not the person he makes himself out to be.

I am tired of reading that Obama is not responsible for the things his pastor has been saying…. blah blah blah… No, he’s not DIRECTLY responsible for that. Indirectly, though his attendance of and support for that church, YES. Obama – A Change you Can’t Believe In! And ABC was quick to push the story about Obama’s uncles down the list of stories… At Spiegel, there has been a story about Obama, right there on the opening page, for weeks!

For Ready999: I wouldn’t make the “child-molesting priest” my “spiritual mentor”! I wouldn’t name my book after one of his sermons!
The United States people would be crazy to elect Obama as president. More and more, he looks like the enemy. The pieces fit together–pictures of Obama without his hand on his heart during the National Anthem, Michelle Obama saying she’s always been ashamed to be an American, Obama with Muslim connections, Obama with Nation of Islam connections (watch out–look what happened to Malcolm X after he cut ties), Obama with a spiritual mentor who thinks the US is worse than the terrorists and says, “God damn America.” Do we really want this man to be our president??? I vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

A non-story if there ever was one. Another handful of delegates for Obama. Big deal. He knows as well as anyone that neither he nor Clinton can get the 2,025 required to secure the nomination. The superdelegates will end up deciding. And foremost in their minds will be how and when the Wright time bomb will blow up and leave Obama with not even a shred of excuse to cover himself with.
As some have already pointed out, the right-wing news media probably already has the incriminating tapes and is just waiting for the opportune moment. For the sake of the party and the country, I hope and believe that the voters of PA will sound the death knell for an Obama campaign that is little more than dead man walking.

Paul – Or it could be that Rev. Wright was not always as angry as he was on those two occasions out of the 20 years of sermons. His rhetoric was inflammatory and wrong, but he was talking about his anger at specific injustices in America, not “hating” America itself. Since no one in his church thinks he hates America, maybe they know something that you don’t?

Main stream media is corrupt. The fact is they want Obama to be President, that is why you see very, very little on the Rev. Wright controversy. This is why I and many of my friends no longer watch mainstream news, nor subscribe to newspapers. We form our own opinion via other means, means that are more balanced or come directly from the source, not having to be “quantified” or “restructured” by others. If I hear the phrase “taken ourt of context” one more time, I’m going to puke. What in the heck does that mean anyway? If you say it, and I hear it, it is what it is.
I don’t need help understanding what I heard.
The “Obama spin mobile” is in full swing. Now we are going to see the politician come out. I am not concerned with Obama, its the people around him, including his angry wife (she isn’t so proud of her country and the American’s living in it) that concerns me.

I am glad to know that more of the people of Iowa are in support of Senator Obama for president. I especially like to hear that Edwards delegates chose Senator Obama because he is my first choice for VP. I think they share values and would work hard together to bring much needed change to our country. If at any time Senator Obama were not able to fulfill his duties as President, Senator Edwards is the person I would trust the most to take the reigns. Senator Dodd is my second choice but he has aleady stated that he prefers his role in the senate to being a VP.

When Senator Obama’s wife Michelle said only last month that “…. for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” I was able to accept this as a single statement taken out of context, or just an unintended mistake in words. Now, after the news that the Obama’s have attended (and supported?) a church whose message for the last several years seems to be negative on America, I have a harder time believeing the words were a slip.
I think America should change some of its policies and become a better country. At the same time, I don’t believe America has to give away the store and subjugate our selves to weaker world powers.
Senator Obama could possibly become a great president, but I have doubts about his dedication to America first, above all others. His past allegiances make me doubt his judgment and his credentials to become president.

I agree withe the below analysis of the Clinton blue-collar strategy that plays on their fears of the big black man and affirmative action. Clinton will do and say anything to gain power, even divide and destroy and Democratic party.
Obama has tried everything to keep race out of the campaign (after all he is white and black!)

The Dems have got to figure this out and quit their usual ritual of eating their own young enroute to defeat by a smaller, more disciplined party. The Fla, MI debacles were stupid, and Howard Dean should be fired for them. If either state has a revote it will tarnish the dems as “the party of the incapable.” We can’t expect a man with a growing lead to quit, so that leaves one option–Hillary has to put the party first. SHe can’t win without destroying Obama or damaging the party.

It is sad to learn that people are able to pass such denegrating and harsh judgement on OBAMA for thing said by some Pastor.
He stands on his own belief.
Act like an American (man or woman) accept the fact that he is leading the race and that he may as well be a good candidate.
Stop hurting OBAMA because in the end you only hurt yourself.
The only reason people attack him is because HILLARY on her own cannot win the contest and so people want to help her at all costs.
Is the cost really worth IT? Specially since he is far ahead of her.

If UNITED STATES SAID TO GO SHOOT YOURSELF N THE HEAD, WOULD YOU? Right there you disagree and say no.
Thats the point! Nobody is perfect and you can agree and disagree on things. This is what makes AMERICA!

Hey Karen, who are “you guys”? Are you talking about me, I hope not. The fact is our government is full of corruption, and it crosses all gender and racial lines. Get that through your scull. Power corrupts people. If you think that any of our Presidential choices are clean, then you must have your head up your butt. Her is another fact – We have 300 million people in this country, with less than a hand full of people to choose from. What does that tell you or haven’t you done the math. Media and big business are in charge and they have “presented” our choices to us, one of which is Obama. Do you really think that somehow he is not being “positioned” by big business or the media? Clinton and McCain certainly are, so what makes anyone think that Obama is any different. Does anyone truly believe that having only 3 people out of 300 million to choose from is OK or is it just me that feels something isn’t right? Oh and by the way, 0.00000001% represnts the math relative to 300 million people and only 3 to choose from.

Pelosi is giving a public hint to Hilary to surrender with with honor and with whatever little dignity she has yet; but will Hilary take the hing?
Or will Hilary continue to deceptively and divisively and deceptively use the IMAGINED Republican-future-attacks-on-Obama as an excuse to be OFF THE ISSUES and , be negative and divisive and destroy the Dems chances?
John McCain still has some honor left in him; and so it is unlikely that McCain will run the kind of nasty and negative campaign the Clintons have been running ever since Hilary got beaten into 3rd place in Iowa, WITH WHICH THE MEDIA HAD NOTHING TO DO!
Hilary Clinton was supposed to be the inevitable candidate; yet she got creamed in Iowa with no negative attacks coming from the underdogs, Obama and Edwards!
Losers EARN the kind of media coverage due them!
Did the media cause Hilary losses FROM DAY ONE? NO!
But her whining and FALSELY playing the victim has duped the media to believe that Hilary was wronged.
The Clintons ran a shoddy, inefficient, expensive and WASTEFUL campaign and lost; yet the media gets blamed?

You can spin it, you can dice it, you can make 11+ delegate lead in 3 states (since March 4th Obama won more delegates, including Texas )to a great victory, you can ignore 12 straight wins to nothing, you can use your polls, at the end,,the truth will prevail..People will win! We will have a great President!
He will guide this great country to a new direction of ever greatness, world will unite and trillions of Dollars will be spent on People, not War!
Wake up, people New day is very near and it is as bright as Sun!

It is not like you make up your own rules of the game or is that what you would like?
Then if we change the rules your way. Hillary is got great ideas up her sleeve that would help her get where she needs to be.
The HILLARY approach just shows the point of Pelosi.
She is saying Hillary careful you are showing the worst side of “US” politicians.
It will hurt the democratic party, republican party, politics and the country.
Of course, Hillary does not listen. She is too busy making things worst for herself and democrats.

Notice how FOX is keeping this in the news for McCain and Karl Rove. And how ABC is doing it for the Clintons. Most Americans do not see this as a team effort by both the Clinton and McCain camps.
I think Karl Rove, McCain and the Clintons are working together on Obama. They want to get rid of him they know he does not play by there rules. They know Obama is a threat to the way Washington has been doing business for the last 50 years. Obama gets more and more death threats every day from what I hear. They will continue you to attack him not directly but by others. This way The Clintons and McCain they can keep there hands clean. Sean Hannity of Fox wants to destroy Obama he is doing the bidding for Karl Rove. FOX will report as much negative stuff on Obama as they can. They want Hillary to win they are going to try and kill Obama’s chances. FOX will continue to run this story though for as long as they can.
They know he has a good shot of wining in November, this tag team arrangement will be exposed to the public real soon. McCain has the biggest problem it is the economy and Iraq. If anything, and I mean anything goes wrong with either one of these issues McCain is done.
Being a white American I have always been ashamed of our treatment of Blacks and other minorities in this country. Sometimes it makes me sick to see what we have done these people. How we have used them and treating the like animals in the past. Mr. Wright’s comments although I cannot agree with all of them, however I know many African Americans must have some permanent damage to there emotional, spiritual well being that cannot be felt by us White Americans. I for one do forgive and understand Obama’s reasoning for his pastors comments. The stain of slavery on these people may never ever be known or felt by any of us that are white in this country. There Families and traditions were permanently destroyed by what we have done to these group of Americans..
Obama scares them they know he has the people with him and he is threat to the current establishment. When things come out about Obama watch the coordination of attacks with Fox and ABC. ABC is mostly on the web page. Check it out! Tomorrow morning watch this week on ABC everything will be negative on Obama. Those guys at ABC news are doing bidding for Hillary. Just listen they are going to try and spin it so that Obama looks bad and Hillary looks better. They are the old guard they do not want Obama in the White House. They have some ties with the Clintons.

To think that it is scary that so many blacks would agree with Wright is to just admit that we know very little about being black in America. Change is scary – but necessary – just as it is necessary that we try to understand each other rather than go to war with one another. It is survival – it is peace.

One thing for sure is that Republicans never have this kind of in-fight. That is why Republican can win despite enormous odds against them.
They can always tap into the fear and insecurity of under-educated voters.
2004 was “don’t change the course in the middle of a war”. Women voters, which supposed to be democrat-leaning, voted for him overwhelmingly.
Now, women stick to Hillary indiscriminatorily because she is a woman.
My prediction is that they will vote for McCain if McCain puts a woman as his VP because their single most important issue is not the qualification of the candidate, is, in fact, the gender of the cadidate.
McCain couldwin a lot of woman votes if he simply puts his wife as VP.
In this election, women have consistently voted for Hillary even from beginning. Contrast, blacks split their votes almost down in the middle between Obama and Clinton at the beginning. Their switch was much later in the game.
My point is not against women voting for Hillary. My point is vote with bigger picture in mind.

McCain the Republican candidate is better than Obama, since she is losing on the democrat’s side could we not understand that Hillary wants a McCain/Hillary ticket for 2008? They are very close and good friends (ref: Bill Clinton). Can anybody explain where Hillary got that lifetime experience in national secutrity issues or where McCain got that experience. To those who are bashing Obama over his pastor’s remarks. Did anyone think to wonder what was going on in America at the times of those remarks? When he spoke on racism, bigotry and the black man’s plight was it during another tragic saga where a black man had been brutalized by rogue police? Had a broom handle rammed up his as*s at a police precinct by NYPD’s finest? And African student gunned down in a hail of gunfire, forty bullets, hit by nineteen in the lobby of his apartment building? A 92yr. old woman gunned down in the privacy of her home by rogue and corrupt narc cops who planted drugs at the scene to cover their as*s after they realized they’d made a major boo boo? No one thought to consider why Pastor Wright said the things he said. Many were just eager to bash him and throw doo doo bombs at Obama. And Pastor Wright isn’t the only one who has made the statement that it is America’s policies in those countries that have caused terrorism and led to the 9/11 attacks. But of course! No one attacked those individuals. Pastor Wright just openly spoke on something America wish to remain in denial about. It’s alright to point out the injustices and human rights violations of other countries America doesn’t like, but looking in the mirror and admitting America isn’t any better, that’s a hard pill to swallow. After all, America is suppose to be the epitome and champion of human rights. The country that will readily go to war and drop bombs on other countries who fail to own up the “values” America hold so near an dear?

Suze – So you’ll hold Obama responsible for things he never said or accused you of, but will vote for the guy who belongs to the party that has consistently made it MORE difficult for struggling Americans of all races to make ends meet? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Why do struggling, middle class Americans vote for the GOP when the Republicans have systematically attempted to dismantle the middle class at every turn? For me this election is all about economics and race is just a distraction – congratulations, the GOP has distracted you from voting your own economic interests with racism once again. If McCain wins, you deserve to keep on struggling and falling farther and farther behind.

Posted by: Jennifer S. | March 16, 2008, 2:54 pm 2:54 pm

Suze you can do great things with the color of your skin. You can reach out. Sure you have never actively oppressed anyone but please acknowledge that the vast majority of people on welfare and in prisons and receiving poor public education are minorities. Until the issue of race in America is addressed then there will continue to be great resentment of the white people in ‘power’. No one, no one, is expecting white people to agree with the things that Wright has said. But to understand why many people of his congregation agree with him is the first step to hopefully bridging the gap between races.

To deny that fact demonstrates to me that you are clearly the one who needs to learn some history. I respect the fact that you’re struggling – in case you hadn’t noticed, we all are these days – but that’s no excuse to dismiss the very real struggles of others.

I believe all men and women can think for themselves and do not blindly follow everything their pastors say. And I am willing to hear what Obama has to say, not his pastor. Something good has led the man to be a graduate of Harvard, the President of the Harvard law review. a teacher of the Constitution at the Univ Chicago, a community organizer, a 2time best selling author, a State Senator for 8yrs, and a US Senator for 3yrs all by the age of 46. I wish my pastor had that kind of effect on me. Obama is the most realistic, intelligent and energizing of the remaining candidates.

Posted by: Alex C | March 16, 2008, 3:06 pm 3:06 pm

America has two measurement sticks.
If things “go their way” we are all Americans.
If things “dont go their way” well it is racial or gender or someother issue hurting “US” Americans.
I am a US citizen am half-italian half-spanish.
Either I am a naturalized US citizen living in Italy. I was in the US Airforce and served honorably.
Now, my question is. Who gives any US born or naturalized citizen the right to say I am American and you are not?
The concept of globalization has made things even more complicated.
The point is sometimes you are a citizen (natural or born) because you have lived in the country for a long period, contributed to that society, and share same values.
Obama to me looks like a well-respected human being, who happens to be American, and has all the potential to lead a country.
Inform yourself. No country is made up of 100% born-citizens.
Then the black or white thing. He is a human being for god’s sake. Some dignity. It is so harmful to humans in general to say you are white and human you are black and not.
Only God has the right to decide who is who.
People should stop speaking non-sense.

These youth voters are going to be at the beach or smoking a joint (they must be smoking something to support Obama) on election day, not voting. Where is Obama’s momentum? No but I will hold him responsible for his judgment to attend a church that DOES hold me responsible and accuse me of things I never did because of my race. If Hillary attended a church led by David Duke for 20 years, and still attended it even today, would you let her slide with a simple “I don’t agree with everything he says?”. Racism will never end as long as there are people like Pastor Wright indoctrinating yet another generation. And a presidential candidate no less!! And his children! Yeah, sure, they’d love to call the game finished now that Obama is being exposed as the charlatan that he is, and by all indications someone who’s happy to consort with racist extremist ideologues,
But, see, the funny thing about liberal democracy, which the Rev. Wrights of the world might not understand, is that everyone who has a right to a vote gets to be heard. That includes the voters in PA, IN, WV, KY and FL again and MI again. And all the polls suggest those people are going to have a real problem with Obama representing their party. See how that works?

It’s unfortunate that people are kind of parochial minded whenever it comes to the issue of a candidate’s race.Barack Obama is not a blackman, the man is biracial. Why do caucasians always fail to embrace a child who has a biracial parentage.Obama, had a black father but was raised by white folks, why are some caucasians not proud of him and make him feel wanted. We go to church not to embrace any pastor’s bigoted and parochial views, but to commune with our Lord Jesus Christ.

To DMK
It appears your hatred for a candidate clouds your judgement so much that anything against that candidate is immediately negatively amplified in your mind.Im different Sir! I repeat to you, Im no Obama supporter but compare how he came out strong against Rev Wright’s words to how Hillary and McCain tip toed around Ferraro and Rev Hagee Controversies surrounding them respectively. If you dont credit that to Obama then it becomes clear how your standards only apply to the candidate you hate and not on those you like.

Posted by: EE | March 16, 2008, 3:16 pm 3:16 pm

It appears that Obama supporters are trying real hard to change the whole issue and make it seem like the we are judging Obama because of what his pastor said, that is not the issue, the issue is Obama believing as his pastor does, That would be a problem, now him saying he doesn’t agree with his pastor yet then turn around and say it is the forces of division , which is in support of his pastor,ok now Obama has sat under this man for 20 yrs, Obama is a smart man,and he met this man before he started attending his church,Obama was a civil rights attorney at the time, and a community leader,So to say that he did not know what the mans beliefs were would be a bald face lie, Obama has never done anything that he didn’t check out first, So the key issue is does he think like this man, the answer to that would be yes, he has given large amount of money to this man, Obama is a faithful member of his church, so therefore Obama not only knew but approved of his sermons, so do we want this kind of man in the white house, One that can not own up to his own beliefs but is willing to lie, to get votes,

If Obama becomes president inspite of all his baggage, we will just have to hope the the impact on the many of the poor Americans is not too bad. The media supported George Bush against Al Gore. We are beginning to see the same thing play out against Hillary. Several Americans are paying the price for that mistake. Some – mostly the rich are untouched. It will be sad for those who feel the impact — the rich will find a way. The younger generation will deal with the fallout more than the older generation. It is comforting to know that the majority of the one’s who supported him now will pay the price. Others will survive. Although it is hard not to feel sad, atleast the fallout will be for the ones who have the time to catch up in life. They have time on their side. They may have a late start in life because the jobs are not there or because they cannot afford to pay for college tuition. They will soon find themselved disilluisioned since the guy they supported for president does not have the vision to lead them. It does not matter who stinks up the white house once it begins to stink. Life for folks who are supporting Hillary now will go on and folks like me will be able to say, I didn’t do it and wait for the next four years. Jeremiah Wright can scream devil and color and ‘God damnn American’ but those voices will never reach my living room. I will continue to hope for Hillary to stop him,if that does not happen, my hope will be for McCain, if that does not happen either, it will be time to tune the whole thing — and hope things will not be worse than it was during the Bush years.

Obama CHOSE to support the vile, racist, anti-American Jeremiah Wright for nearly 25 YEARS and now pretends that he didn’t know about Wright’s views. BS! BS! BS!
Obama stayed with Wright because he agreed with his views. Why else would he stay? Anyone else would have walked out of that church decades ago.
Equally appalling was watching Obama’s fellow parishioners clap, cheer and cavort during Wright’s hateful sermons. These are the people Obama has CHOSEN to associate with for nearly A QUARTER CENTURY. Unbelievable.
This issue cuts to the core of Obama’s character and judgment. Obama has shown himself as not only unfit for the presidency, but for the U.S. Senate.
Obama is a racist con man. Nothing more.

People are shocked, scared, angry, outraged, and disgusted. You cannot compare other radical preachers of other candidates because they are saying outrageous remarks about other people. Obama has made the decision to stay at this radical church that preaches some kind of black version of christianity with loyalty to Africa. Even now he refuses to distance himself from that church. Whether it’s Rev. Wright or somebody else, I’m concerned about the views of that church and about Barak Obama’s judgement to stay there. We are not blaming him for the comments, it’s the judgement to affiliate with such a church that is suspect. AND if he wins he brings some of these principles with him. I just don’t think religion should play such a big role in politics. And how can a president of the United States be loyal to AFRICA.

Posted by: JJ | March 16, 2008, 3:28 pm 3:28 pm

For Obama to say that in 20 years he didn’t hear any of the racist comments that Rev. Wright made in his sermons is ridiculous. How could anyone that didn’t have racist views remain in a church when the pastor preaches the whites gave the HIV Virus to blacks to destroy the black race? Oh C’mon now, what does Obama really believe??

Keep it up democrats! You continue to amaze me. With the precipice our nation is facing on all fronts: at least two ongoing wars (don’t forget McCain’s gleefully singing Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb Iran!”), the foreclosures, the economy, social security, college tuition, dependence on oil, etc, etc, etc you focus on such miniscule junk. No wonder Bush won twice. At this rate he could get elected again. No wonder there are so many independents. You democrats argue over what some parishoners pastor says, and republicans argue over what religion a person is. You are going to give away a gimme election. The independents are going to decide the election and if you think Hillary is going to woo us over, you are indeed delusional. She would make a great Senate Majority leader, but remembering the circus with Bill Clinton as president, it’s mind-boogling what a person could expect when he doesn’t even have a job in the White House. Focus, people. Focus!

Obama said in an AP article published in 2004 that he attended services at Trinity United Church of Christ “every Sunday.” If he was telling the truth then, he certainly heard Jeremiah Wright’s comments in 2001 that America deserved the 9/11 attacks. So, which is it Sen. Obama? Did you rarely attend services at TUCC like you’ve been implying during your recent spate of damage control, or were you there every Sunday like you said previously? Either way, Obama is a liar and a hypocrite.

Posted by: NightHawk | March 16, 2008, 3:32 pm 3:32 pm

I bet even Obama cannot believe that he won…again. After all his pastor’s ranting over how bad America and he attending his church for 20 years, I bet he thinks “my pastor is right, these Americans are not very bright”. And, if Obama gets elected I guess all I can say is Americans got what they deserve. Just like they didn’t pay attention to the red flags leading up to September 11, they don’t pay attention to the red flags now. And there are plenty. Be very careful, don’t let down your country and the rest of the world.

MIKE JK, regardless of what these Obama people on here think. I agree with you. I think the wife says a lot about the man and her comments DID originate from somewhere and most likely it’s this crazy church. That was what she was talking about. This church he attends is a big problem for me. I would have left the first time I heard a sermon like that, not embraced the place and invited the pastor over to bless the Rezko house. And God Forbid defens the place and refuse to leave.

Posted by: JJ | March 16, 2008, 3:33 pm 3:33 pm

This morning I decided to listen to a few of the reverends sermons from the past and while I very strongly comdemn his statements contained in the sound bites our media often shoves at us, I did not hear one word of hate or fear mongering. He spoke like most any other pasture, a message of faith, love and a responsibility to famaily and community.
I also just finished listening to the 92 minute interview with the Chicago Tribune. All of the questions that a dozen reporters could think of were answered in what sounded like an honest way. I think the Tribunes editorial board is correct in their final assessment.
I keep doing my homework and find that in the words of Clarence Thomas that this nothing more than “a high tech lynching”.

I am not at all surprised that some pastors like Rev. Wright feel they were wronged and preach a type of liberation theology. I used to judge all blacks as one type, but am so wrong. They are as different and as rich and as poor as any other folks in this land of immigrants. I am white, but more and more understand the residual pain most of the older black generation still feels. They are different from the younger black generation, like Obama. They do feel wronged, and though very very objectionable, Rev. Wright is also a patriot, he was a marine, a veteran who served well this country. It may well heal the wounds of this country if an African-American, who is both white and black to be the Transitional leader for this country. Perhaps, there is something special, not so much about Obama, but that this age itself shows us all Americans that there is a life-time opportunity waiting for us. Strange that Obama came up at the right time…
I decided to ignore the white and black pastors and their rants and get back to worrying about my gas bill, unempolyment, Iraq war, economy etc. Obama or Clinton, fine by me. Both will make very good Presidents, although Obama has a slight advantage in carrying the country towards reconciliatory direction. Hillary’s personality has the disadvantage of divisiveness. Still, either way, fine with me.

My hope is that Obama will win this primary and the general election. After reading these blogs, I now understand that the reason I’m voting for Obama is because as a black man,, we all stick together. To the mother that is raising her three children and feels that she has nothing to apologies for things that happened 150 yrs ago.. Your right,, You don’t owe anyone an apology for the past. I might interject that your history is flawed, you did’nt mention our countries segregation period in the South. and or our defacto segregation in the North. My father could first vote when I was 2 in this country without fear of reprecussion. I’m 45 years old. The 13th, 14th and 15th amendmant were considered landmark decisions during that period in the 1960′s. Until these last several weeks, I was one of those Democrats that could’nt stand a Republican candidate. I currently feel that maybe a knock down drag out fight would not be bad for this party. In either case it will weed out this Democratic party out. and that will be a good thing. Go Obama.. If this election does nothing more then clears the trash.. I say, so be it.

“Jason: Equally appalling was watching Obama’s fellow parishioners clap, cheer and cavort during Wright’s hateful sermons. These are the people Obama has CHOSEN to associate with for nearly A QUARTER CENTURY. Unbelievable.”
Dead on. Wright wasn’t just some passing acquaintance. Obama dedicated YEARS and thousands of dollars to this Pastor, this congregation. Unbelievable is right.

It is sad to see all the vitriol expended on this thread, especially when we should be saving it for the coming general election in November.
As a white male who grew up in the old, segregated South, I see so many of the old hateful beliefs expressed here that it just makes me sad for my beloved America. I had thought we had come so far, but now I wonder.
Yes, we truly need more hope and inspiration and less of what former President Clinton himself once called “the politics of personal destruction.”
Shame on us all for being so small-minded and hateful.

So it will be Michelle Obama who is actully calling the shots? It does work that way in some families. THAT’s even scarier than just plain Obama, that crazy wife as Frist Lady and co-president. She’s probably the reason he’s not leaving that church, she’s really the one behind all this radical stuff. I get it. The wife runs the show, unh huh. Makes sense to me and I’m trembling thinking of four to eight years of that.

Obama is not a saint and no body will ever be even those who claim proximity to God! Think of any faith in the world, nobody is a saint. Muslim leaders charge the younger ignorant ones to take succide as honour towards their believe. Which is manipulative and selfish and because some of the young folks see the outright evil they don’t think twice. We Christains are told that the only way to heaven is through Christ and that we should be Christ like even obviously our actions don’t justify our proclaimation towards christainity! Humans have remained chaotic from history till date! Set principles have always been what has kept a decent balance of tolerance amongst us. We have lied to generations and find comfort on racial lines; breaking our percieved enemies with fear. Blacks or whites you are all guilty of this shortcoming! Can Americans go back to the pressing issues. The world needs America in this moment of History, the world is disintegrating under your watch, rogue states are springing up again and Hatred for America is growing, can any one please be reasonable enough to address the future of American kids and the world. Who would duce these fears, who would talk these rogue leaders out of rising sense of enemity and make them understand that America cares, who will stop war mongers from going to senseless wars. Americans stop tearing your selves down. War mongers are enjoying this, it is such a huge shame

Obama has disclosed his Rezko affiliations (including home purchase papers), earmark requests and tax returns. Obama immediately cleared his political affiliation from views expressed by friend and supporter Minister Wright.
Clinton has yet to release her full tax returns and earmark requests from her time in the Senate, as well as her White House records and Clinton library donors. Clintons apology to the black community for a friend and supporters racist comments came days after the fact. Clinton has also declined to return $170,000 in campaign contributions from individuals at the Illinois management consulting firm, International Profit Associates, or IPA accused of widespread sexual harassment, and whose CEO is a disbarred lawyer with a criminal record, federal campaign records show. Lets not forget that Clinton’s campaign eventually returned some $850,000 to Hong Kong businessman Norman Hsu who was found to be a fugitive in a 15-year old theft case. He was indicted for fraud related to his campaign contributions in 2007.

What I don’t understand is if you have been unfairly called unpatriotic, then why do you turn around and do the same to Obama? This nonsense about Obama some how hating America is getting out of hand. Sure, the guy has flaws, but that’s not one of them. well James that sort of trying to have it both ways isn’t it. Keeping peace in the family by going to a radical church. Not following you. A real man says “No, Darling, we are leaving that church. The message there is not one that embraces all people, it is concerned only with black cause and I am both white and black. We are going to a more appropriate church because I want to run for president and I don’t want to be assocaited with a church that gives awards to people like Farakahn. Dress the girls we are going to find an integrated church that preaches loves and tolerance for all people.” Is that attacking Obama or asking him to stand up and be a real man.? Answer that for me please. I have no interest inattacking Obama. I just don’t understand how someone who wants to be president of the United States of America couldn’t see that this church was not the right place. Ok blame Michelle, blame me, blame anybody. It still does not sound or feel right to me. Just my opinion, but apparently this blog has gottento be about attacking each other now sharing opposing points of view respectfully. It shows that no matter who wind unless we change, there is no change. Obama can’t change things alone, no man can. But maybe a woman is the change we need to stop all this bickering. Maybe with a woman we aould all start to show some respect again, for this office, for the country and for ourselves. I’m over this bickering people. It’s over Hillary. Why are you being so obstinate? Obama has won more states, more popular votes and has a significant lead in pledged delegates. More and more politicos are pointing out that you will need to win each and every remaining state by 65 to 70% just to break even with Barrack. So way stay in? What are you hoping for? The only way that you are going to win the primary is to cheat. We already have a president that got in by cheating. Do you really think that we want another one that way? NO. If you cheat your way in, it’s over for the Democratic Party. Hello President McCain.
PS. Super delegates get a backbone. Endorse Barrack Obama already and get this done so we can go on to win in November. What’s so difficult? If Obama were trailing as much as Hillary is, you guys would have kicked him to the curb by now and you know it.
YES WE CAN!!!
As long as Hill doesn’t get away with stealing the nomination, which will give McCain the Presidency. Um… maybe that is what she’s spoiling for. That’s something to think about.

Posted by: judesuper | March 16, 2008, 4:16 pm 4:16 pm

Do you get the feeling the Clinton’s tax returns are like the Nixon tapes. She says she has released much of them over the years, but is holding back on the most recent for some reason. She is also holding back on the earmarks, the donations to Bill’s “library” and the schedule from when she was first lady. Do you think we will ever seen these and if we do, do you think she will take the deduction for white-out? Now that Obama is vetted and we have his earmarks, his campaign contributions and we know all about the pastor, isn’t it time to get CLinton’s stuff out before it is too late? I suspect there is something she is hiding? And by the way. What do we know about her pastor? And what about McCain’s pastor?
This stuff is only going negative if she is hiding something. Clinton says that Obama is negative for asking about the tax returns, so she ought to know. They must be negative. What has she done that she is hiding?

So let me get this straight. Obama wants us to believe that after a 25 year relationship with Jeremiah Wright, he only this week discovered through the media that Wright is a hateful, anti-American hack?
If indeed this is the case, Obama clearly lacks the intelligence necessary to be the most powerful leader in the world. This guy is trouble.

Posted by: WSJ | March 16, 2008, 4:17 pm 4:17 pm

DMK: There was nothing to handle, all Obama did was denounce his words which he said he didn’t hear and give me a break. Wright is a hater of whites and Obama has been going to that church for 20 years? He has to hate whites also but doesn’t show it because he needs the votes. He hung around Resko and that Pastor too long because he is a liar just like them. Many white people are fooled by him but he doesn’t fool me. I am very wise to him. Clinto can throw rings around Obama when it comes to experience and knowledge. Like I stated most blacks will vote for a black candidate even if he spent time in jail. Hillary has won the big states that Obama could never capture and will not capture even if he won the nomination. McCain would wipe him out because Hillary’s voters would switch to make sure of that.

Chris, I love my children and I respect our troops and although I think that Hillary is the best president for our country, I will vote McCain because if Hillary loses in the primary, he would be my only choice. Obama is two faced and keeps bad company. He does not have the vision to lead our country and neither has he shown the ability to select the appropriate people for his advisors. He has shown us how to get ahead with the delegates but becoming the President of the United States is more than winning delegates. Hillary would be great but between McCain and Ohama, it will have to be McCain. Lack of honesty and experience has always been a concern I had with Obama — I had hoped that things will change if he did win. But, that hope has been dashed and does not exist anymore. Obama is worse than some of the politicians of our day — he has been able to play race when it suits him and accuses the people asking the questions. I now know that he gets this strategy from Wright. In all honesty, I cannot vote for someone who I believe is a dishonest man and I have to vote in November.

Then consider the LACK of concern over Obamas affiliation with a church and pastor who`s primary theme is hatred. Hatred for whites and colors in between, except blacks.. His association with know criminal elements. Not knowing where all his campaign money is coming from… Shouldn`t we be as concerned about the Obama dark clouds as we are about the Clintons?? What is it that you critics of Obama are afraid of? Afraid that Obama will get in office and outsource your jobs to folks of color? Clinton and Bush already did that (Saudi Arabia and China and Latin America). Are you afraid he will ruin your economy as he helps make countries of color richer while putting America in debtor’s prison? Bush already did that (China and Saudia Arabia). Will Obama put you in economic slavery and take away all your rights as free citizens? Bush and the Republicans are well on the way to doing so in the Patriot Act, and they are real “patriots”. Funny, seems the one you fear that is trying to get past divisions and put this country back together, is far safer than those white men who realy failed you. Seems you should be casting the judgemental finger at those white men, not Obama. They are the ones who have really caused you true harm, not a black man trying to right wrongs who is a member of a black church that has a minister that no one yet can say is a liar. Here is a man who went for power politics from the beginning. He did choose to connect himself to some of the worst thugs in American politics for the sake of power. He is embroiled in the Chicago machine and is connected to a variety of shady dealings, mostly orchestrated by Mayor Daley and Tony Rezko. Obama is not stepping down.
He is not wont to ever see beyond his personal ambitions of power and connections. Obama will have to be defeated the old fashioned way.
He is young and obviously power hungry. Perhaps he can come back in 2016, tested, vetted and ready to go. Perhaps not.

How come we never hear about her scandals and her ongoing trial with Peter Paul? Rezko and Obama is a joke compared to all of Clintons dirty laundry. Atleast Obama has the candor to be open to the public about everything he does and has addressed all the questions towards him involving Rezko. Clinton just points the finger at Obama calling him negative when he questions her.

Obama CHOOSES to support the vile, racist, anti-American Jeremiah Wright for nearly 25 YEARS and now pretends that he didn’t know about Wright’s views. BS! BS! BS!
Obama stayed with Wright because he agreed with his views.

If what you say about obama’s mother is true, then it should be her running for President and not her son. I am sure that she wouldn’t sit with her hands betweeh her legs and not say nothing while a pastor of 20 years told of words of hate to the very country that you just said that she work so hard for. It looks like that obama might have a family member like I have, and that is of love for my country no matter who is part of it. obama you need to go to your mothers church on the sundays that you missed on the Rev wrong
GOD BLESS AMERICA Sen John McCain and all that also was POWed and has served

I think the reason Obama is steadily gaining support is due to Hillary Clinton’s campaign than Obama himself. Afterall, his streak has been over with for sometime. Consider the many more complaints and whining coming from her campaign regarding this or that….her comment regarding McCain being a better Commander and Chief( which was really STUPID) her 3 am ad, etc. Speaking of ad though, let me add that – that ad – did NOT sit well with many people. They were smart enough NOT to air it in all four places(the March 4th primaries), so course it wasn’t aired in MANY places but people do know about it and they didn’t like it….So, I think his steady raise in support is just people voicing their disdain for her. I think Nancy P. saying what she said was her way of voicing her disdain for what she said regarding McCain….
It’s clear some people are beginning to see that Hillary could careless about the DEM. party and if she doesn’t care about the party, then the party could careless about her. So, the kitchen sink strategy will defeat the both of them.

New Rasmussen poll shows Obama’s unfavorable rating is up to 49 percent, only two points lower than Clinton. Obama is poison.

I like how the Obama Pom Squad continues to attempt to downplay the atrocity of Obama’s 20+ year support of the vile, hateful Jeremiah Wright.
It’s true that candidates can’t choose who supports them, but Obama made CHOSE to support Wright for more than two decades. TWO DECADES. This is not some passing acquaintance. He married Obama and his wife. He baptized Obama’s children. Obama is up to his neck in Jeremiah Wright.
Obama sat clapping with his family in the pews of Wrights church for 20 YEARS. Equally appalling is watching Obama’s fellow parishioners cheer and cavort in delight to Wright’s hateful sermons. These are people Obama has CHOSEN to associate with for nearly a quarter century.
Unbelievable.
It is astonishing that Obama believes he can now pretend he didn’t know about the “real” Jeremiah Wright or that Obama’s close relationship with this hateful guy is not indicative of Obama’s judgment and character.
How blind and ignorant have Obama cheerleaders become? Pick yourself up out of the gutter, Obama fans, and set your sights higher in the world.

One other thing as you spew venom back and forth. It’s easy to see the republicans on the message board mascarading as democrats. Hopefully those are the ones spewing the racism. As a white male, it disgusts me but it doesn’t surprise me. Can someone in their right mind tell me how a person that has a black father and a white mother, raised by his white grandparents and credits “all that is good in him” to his white mother b3e prejudice agaisnt white people. Please people, think. Don’t be ignorant. If you’re against Obama, it has to be something else besides rascism. Blaming him for rascism is disingenuous at best.

I’ve been hoping that somewhere I’d be able to find information about this 2nd stage Iowa caucus that had some of Edwards delegates moving to Obama. How did this work? My understanding was that 26 actual, identifiable people were chosen back in January to represent the support he got in the original caucus. But I don’t get how this next level of caucus operated. Were these actual 26 people spread out on a county basis and then wooed by supporters of each remaining candidate? Please someone, fill us in on how this actually was conducted. Thanks.

Jewish woman why are you making stuff up? He was accussed once. By a woman whose reputation far exceeded her accuser’s. The case fell through. This is the reason Obama does not sit well with many of us. He and his supporters are being cannibals on the Democrats. If you all don’t like the Democrats, why are you using our party to make your racist candidate President? The Democratic base wants Hillary not Obama. Normal white people who don’t feel they should have to pay for the past, are voting for Hillary or McCain. Latinos are voting for Hillary. Older generation people, many who were involved in the Civil Rights Movement are voting for Hillary. Obama, the so called candidate of Hope has managed to divide people based on HIS USE of HIS RACE. That type of thinking, never ends well.

I doubt it if you were Hillary that you will not divorce Bill bu this woman kept her home . and by the way how did she know if Clinton would have told the truth about the scandal to her Bill might not have told her the truth either so stop blaming this woman Hilary for she might not have known. It is you that should wise up and not vote Obama who is more of an Arab that a true American. and this people have been dealing for years and even drove you from your land of Isreal . Think before you vote Obama . He is not just the best candididate for jews either .SAVE AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can Americans give 7 more delegates to Sen. Obama when the truth is finally starting to come out and the truth will set us all free to really look at him as a candidate. America, wake up and smell the coffee. Obama doesn’t want his records out anymore than he wants Rezco, his pastor, earmarks, or anything else to come out for that matter. Doesn’t he know by now if, it’s negative information, all he has to do is look sweet and repute, denounce or deny it and the media won’t bring it up again. What a plague on all of us, the mainstream media. FOX is turning out to be more fair in this election than nearly all the rest. Come on media, OB’s not on the level on the Rev. Wright issue or anything else it now seems. He only speaks the truth when he gets caught in a lie or half truth. How much more is lingering out there for Republicans to mo-up the floor with him if, and that’s a big “IF”, he gets the nomination. God help us if he does! Our country needs “US” to stand-up for her now. Our future lingers in the balance of the impending primaries & general election. We need a President to restore our standing at home and abroad. We need Hillary, not inexperience and a very questionable past, and certainly not Senator more of the same, McCain.

today while listening to the news on the radio , they were talking about Obama and his pastor, and about the fact that now Obama in the polls can’t beat McCain, they were saying that he is steadily dropping in the polls, regardless of his 10 delegate wins, they said those people really had no choice on who to go to, so that is not much of win, but I did find it interesting that the man said if Obama does not figure out some way to stop this story that it will be the end of him, and that people should pay attention because he is not doing well under pressure, which is not a good sign of a leader, and they talked about the rezko thing, and how he messed up on that one also, two strikes, wonder what the third is, Only the news knows for now,

CTtransplant yes I agree with you regarding the postings of most people on this board. Ask a legit question regarding Hillary and her past and all you get in response is the Obama is an Arab who hates America nonsense. A perfect example is my question about Peter Paul. None of the Hillary lovers will touch that one. They will just pretend it’s not there and go on with their negative rants that have nothing to do with the election.

Posted by: Chris | March 16, 2008, 8:39 pm 8:39 pm

ALL VOTERS’ VOTES SHOULD COUNT FROM ALL STATES! Barack Obama’s victory of Hillary Clinton is a stolen one. When he did not side with the voters of Florida that their votes should count, he pretty much showed us that he would be willing to win by cheating the voters—by stripping them of their vote for the actions of their governor Mr. Christ. Mr. Obama was on the Florida ballot. The people paid their taxes. Obama did campaign in Florida. The Only reason Obama is not screaming for those votes to count is because he did not win in Florida. It sucks that he would support stripping voters in an entire state of their votes because he is a sore looser. Obama would be all about Florida’s votes being counted, had he won. Obama’s win by Race. THE POLLS WERE OPEN! THE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE VOTED! IF THEY DID NOT, IT’S THEIR FAULT! COUNT FLORIDA’S VOTES!

Posted by: proudamerican2008 | March 16, 2008, 8:48 pm 8:48 pm

Hillary has much to hide. Not just Peter Paul, but she has taken from the Rezko group too. Look up Huffington Post and do a search on Clinton and Rezko. Unfortunately, she is the one in a “fairy tale” world.

Posted by: Dee | March 16, 2008, 8:49 pm 8:49 pm

I think that people are certainly reacting, rather than considering carefully. People are ready to make judgments based on two or three sound bites. Do any of you know that Rev Wright was a U.S. Marine? His service to this country is more than most of us can claim. I agree that things like God Damn America are extreme, however, pointing out issues about issues that exist in this country is not unpatriotic. Pretending that problems don’t exist and not finding ways to deal with them is. This is the whole premise behind Obama’s campaign. Let’s work together to better our country and our world.
One of the most intriguing things about Obama is that he is willing to listen to opinions and views that differ from his. This not only speaks to his own confidence to but to his intelligence. Incorporating competing views in leadership, enhances a leader. The weakest part of the Bush administration is W’s absolute inability to deal with anyone who has an opinion that differs from his.
Our country is in a sorry state and everyone that loves it should realize that we need a once in generation leader to save it. If you take a minute to consider the facts, you know that there is no way that the Obamas are not proud of their country. Michele Obama’s comment was in reference to the political process. This is not an unpatriotic comment. The level of voter participation in this country is generally pathetic and the idea that Obama can bring all these new people (young, old, white, black, brown) into the process should excite (not scare or intimidate) everyone, and make everyone more proud to be American. Everyone should set aside their own agenda and do what’s best for this great country.
Voting for McCain and ensuring that we continue the path that we are on is surely not the answer. Everyone should read the biography of Abraham Lincoln (one of the greatest presidents, who led our country through some of the most tumultuous times in our history), the parallels to this campaign and particularly Obama are stunning. The other required reading is the Fall of Great Empires. This book details how some of the greatest empires in history fell, the cliff notes version is that we are headed in a eerily similar path, we need a course correction immediately and this is why McCain’s election would be problematic.
If people spend more time considering things in a historical and intellectual context rather than purely based on emotion, we would not be in the mess that we are in today.

I guess all of us blacks should be held accountable for what out pastor say, I am 47 year old black female and I have heard numerous preachers talk like Wright. I feel that it is caused by the anger they are still harvesting from the 60′s. Fighting for equal rights and being killed and beaten took a toll. You have to remember that MLK was murdered during that time and he was the best thing that happened to the fight for equality. Blacks don’t have to forget but they do need to forgive.

I’ve been reading the blogs and it’s alarming to see the racial undertones that have strated to take over. I really wish that we could stay on point withthe blogs and stick to the issues at hand. As a black american I completely disagree with the words of the pastor as do many black americans so it’s very distressing to see how many people were so willing to believe that his words represented black americans general views. I guess if youcarry hate in your heart you want to believe that the rest of us do to. I want to cast my vote based on the issues (economics, the war, healthcare and reuniting the U.S. with foreign diplomats and policies) not Race. I want a candidate who can handle that–let’s keep perspective and not fall into the hate mongering.

Hello everyone, I am from Chad, a small little country in the heart of Africa. All my life, i have never been interested in any form of elections up until now. I love Obama, and the sentiments back here and all over the world for that matter are the same. We all love Barack Obama. Many countries look to the US as the world’s savior, that’s a great burden to bear, but following Obama’s campaign, i pray everyday that God enlightens you Americans to vote for the right person, because not only are u voting for your president, Barack Obama, you are voting for a world class leader, a passionate man, a true leader!!!…on behalf of my fellow africans, i beg you guys, keep up with the momentum, Vote for OBAMA!!!

I am not an American but rather a Canadian and I feel the world is holding its breath and waiting for a definitive change in the US. Bush has done so much damage to both the world and the US that only someone like Barack Obama can make a difference. But alas, it seems in the US he is constantly trying to prove he is worthy. First its never mentioned that he is half white but he is only considered black. Second his religious beliefs were questioned but cannot be any longer because his Minister is not muslim, so attention is diverted to his Minister’s beliefs. Get where I am going with this…it is an endless cycle. I sincerely hope that Mr. Obama has the fortitude that we see, to overcome these attacks. Good Luck!

I find it sad that so many attacked Obama and his wife. I took his wife’s comment as a compliment like when I tell my children “I’ve never been so proud of you”. It does not mean that I have never been proud of my children. I live in a southern community and when I see how well Obama is doing amoung the educated I see hope. I do not agree with the words of the minister but I understand his anger. I see the injustice every day but I see the improvement. He who has no sin cast the first stone.
not white or black

Wait a minute. Here we go again, it seems that everyone is saying that Obama’s pastor hates America, well the last time I checked America is NOT just composed of white people but people of all races, creeds and colors! Therefore, if he hates America he hates blacks as well because I know that I am black and that I am an American! Let’s get past the 50′s and 60′s and get to the progress that we need to deal with to fill our basic needs as a people and Americans all of us, no matter what color our skin is! Come on people don’t be blinded by the same old propaganda that has always been used in the past, this is what we are trying to get away from. Vote for whom you want but do not vote because they are black, a woman or a white male. Vote because you truly believe that they can make a difference not only for you but for ALL Americans and the World! In my heart I truly believe that Obama can get us on the right track. Maybe just maybe his preacher did him a favor by getting this all out in the open so it could be addressed! Any prejudice is an injustice to all of us! Let’s stop it now!

Unfortunately many injusties suffered by rev wright imploded in a few of his

by their private bad moments they would’t stand either. I heard many americans say worse about our current president, thankfully their voices aren’t
on all the news stations. Not long ago a beloved american with a muslim name muhammed ali said he wasn’t going to kill no vietcon and it took americans about a decade to get it.put things into context about a persons statements
