Republican Congressman King: Terrorists Will “Dance In the Streets” With Obama Victory
Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, speaking to a local Iowa radio station, said that terrorists would dance in the streets if Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is elected president — precisely because of not only Obama’s position on withdrawing US troops from Iraq, but because Obama’s middle name is "Hussein," his father’s Muslim roots, and his appearance — or "optics," as King put it.
You can read about it HERE or listen to it HERE.
"I don’t want to disparage anyone because of their, their race, their ethnicity, their name – whatever their religion their father, father might have been," King said just before doing just that.
"I’ll just say this that when you think about the optics of a Barack Obama potentially getting elected President of the United States — and I mean, what does this look like to the rest of the world? What does it look like to the world of Islam?
"And I will tell you that, if he is elected president, then the, the radical Islamists, the, the al-Qaida, and the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11….
"It does matter, his middle name does matter. It matters because they read a meaning into that in the rest of the world, it has a special meaning to them. They will be dancing in the streets because of his middle name. They will be dancing in the streets because of who his father was and because of his posture that says: Pull out of the Middle East and pull out of this conflict.
So there are implications that have to do with who he is and the position that he’s taken. If he were strong on national defense and said ‘I’m going to go over there and we’re going to fight and we’re going to win, we’ll come home with a victory,’ that’s different. But that’s not what he said. They will be dancing in the streets if he’s elected president. That has a chilling aspect on how difficult it will be to ever win this Global War on Terror."
Over to you, Sen. McCain!

UPDATE: Obama spox Bill Burton: “These comments have no place in our politics, and we hope Senator McCain will repudiate them like he has previous offensive comments from his supporters.”
McCain spox Jill Hazelbaker: "Our position on this is very clear. We are against the kind of politics that divide and degrade people in the process."

Why are his comments even being circulated? They’re disgusting and have no place in a discussion about a candidate’s suitability. King is a racist and the best way to address his stupidity is with stunning silence.

Just tried to email Rep. King’s office in Washington, the form wouldn’t allow me to send an email because my zip code was not from Iowa. Is that legal to not allow me to email a US Rep?
I wonder if King realizes that the 100 years of quagmire Sen. John W. McCain promises is precisely what Al Qaeda wants.

HA, there we go again. Every specialist on foreign affairs (and certainly on Al Qaeda) knows the opposite to be true.
Al Qaeda wants the USA to STAY in Iraq where they created a front to fight us with all the means they got.
Same way as Hamas and Hezbollah always destroyed Palestian-Israeli peace negotiations at their most critical stage by suicide bombings and rocket attacks. They want to CONTINUE fighting Israel instead of seeking peace.
The islamic fundamentalists need battlegrounds to fight us, because these fights guarantee their ‘heroism’ in the perception of larger groups in the islamic communities. They need these communities to back up their plea for fundamentalist politics and the Sharia as the definitive replacement of secular law.
The failure on get grip on such basic knowledge in understanding Al Qaeda tactics is very much typical for the Republicans, and we know where it lead us in Iraq and in neglecting the battles in Afghanistan.
Al Qaeda attacked America on 9/11 to get Bush declare war on them and fight them.
The LAST thing Al Qaeda needs is a Democrat in White House who will call our troops back home from Al Qaeda’s favorite battleground.

What exactly can we believe on Obama’s Iraq position now? He says withdrawal will take place in 2009, but his top foreign policy advisor said he will not be bound by any plans he makes as U.S. Senator or presidential candidate. She also said that the best case scenario is 16 months. What’s the deal Barack? Seems like you’re saying whatever you have to to get elected.

He is so right with what he is saying I know Obama supporters wont want to hear that but it is very true, if they don’t agree with him all they have to do is show us the proof that what he is saying is wrong.

To commenter SJ below:
So in your world anyone can make a ridiculous statement and the burden is on the other side to prove it’s not true? Otherwise it’s assumed to be true?
Remember the OBL video that came out days before the 2004 election? What more proof do you need that AQ wants to wingnuts in power to keep the war going. Two sides of the same coin need each other.

That a man of Steve King’s total lack of intelligence and civility has ANY role in US politics is something this country should be deeply worried about.
I vote Republican and I hope McCain will strongly denounce this crap. More of this and there will be no need for general elections. The Republican moral is at an all time low already after the Bush-Cheney debacle. Steve King, go home and stay there, please.

Only the biased and racist so-called conservatives do not. Barak Obama is know very well by the Jewsih community in Illinois and they back him and stand by him – because they know him. Obviously, you do not.

At a time when young American men and women are dying in the battle field, if the right wing swift boaters think these are the kinds of attacks that are going to have traction with the American people, then they surely are misreading the pain of the Country. They may end up doing more damage to the candidates they think they are supporting this time around. I believe the American people have now put the credibly of the message and messenger side by side. The lightness of both is overwhelming. If McCain wants them on his side then he too would be risking what ever credibility he has now left.
No matter what the right-wing demagogues and their Clinton counterparts on the Democratic side do, I hope the Obama and McCain campaigns honor us by not treating us like morons.

Are we that primative that we would allow something like this to happen in our American politics? Enough of the hatred, enough of the divide. We need our government to work together and hopefully Iowa will throw King out for being about as ignorant as can be.

We can always count on the democrats to use every story and every comment section on the net to get out their talking points and to misconstrue anything a Republican ever said. Regardless of whether or not you agree with King, quit twisting McCain’s comments to suit your agenda. For a perfect example of why Obama and his “followers” don’t belong in the Whitehouse all one has to do is look at their parroting the DNC’s talking points on the “hundred year quagmire”. That isn’t what McCain said, but of course your reading comprehension is apparently not up to par. To think that we are NOT going to be in the Middle East with a military base for the next hundred years is naive and uninformed. That naivety is exactly the reason Obama isn’t knowledgeable to be in the Whitehouse, or the Senate, for that matter. But, we don’t need to worry too much. His shady dealings in Chicago, and his wife’s uncontrollable opinion, will be the end of him before then anyway.
When Obama starts apologizing for every crazy thing any democrat has to say, then McCain should be expected to do the same. Until then, get your facts straight and quit acting like perpetual victims.

But don’t laugh: last year, the gutless House of Representatives — except Reps. King was first elected in 2002, and is a Catholic. Don’t know if he dances.

Rep. Kings comments were poorly cast BUT his sentiments are probably correct. Let’s put it another way. If a candidate running for Iran called on talks with Israel and and the US, and was educated in Stanford… don’t you think that the American public would, just from general appearances, be favorable to him, even without knowing much more.
King is talking “optics” – the perceived “look” of it. While it’s true that al Qaeda will hate whoever is elected… they do care who they perceive will give them most breathing room. On that I would agree with them Obama is their man.

What bin Laden would love is for us to stay in Iraq indefinitely, so that we don’t have the resources to go after him and his supporters. We are still fighting the Taliban, for God’s sake. Who thought, back in 2001, that we’d still be fighting the Taliban in 2008? That should have been done and dealt with. Instead, we are fighting GWB’s personal vendetta. Staying in Iraq another 10, 50, or 100 years will not conquer terrorism. Obama’s plan is to leave Iraq and reinforce Afghanistan. He correctly believes we dropped the ball there. And leave it to Republicans to spew out vague negatives about Obama with no facts to back them up.

They should be asked the following questions. What is your Iraq Exit Strategy? What is the exit strategy to prevent the overthrow of Iraq by Al Qaeda supporters? What is the exit strategy to prevent the murder of Iraqis who supported us? What is the strategy if these exit strategies fail?

Even Barack Obama has stated that “words” are important. The name “Hussein” does offer some food for thought. The man running for President of the United States has family roots and ties to a culture that presently “hates” us. Of course this will turn some heads. Barack Hussein Obama has turned his back on his heritage? Now that give me something to think about. All cultures from the Chinese or Mexican or whatever retain their cultural customs and continue to celebrate many traditional holidays in America. As far as I can see he does not–he has turned his back on his family, relatives still living there, his culture, his religion when he was younger. To denounce your heritage is sort of hard to swallow. If he is an American with our ideals and beliefs why hasn’t he tried to bring over his family to America? Almost all foreigners that I’ve know always want their families to live in America with them.

Shame on Rep.Steve King,Iowa. His thinking justifies why there should be a new face with new thinking in the White House. If it weren’t for Obama’s win in Iowa, a prejudiced person might think that all Iowan’s thought as King.
The way Iowans turned out for Obama is the way they should turn out against King when his term is up. The words from the mouth reflect the thoughts in the heart. America cannot thrive with this type of rhetoric. Stamp out the ignorance of prejudice. VOTE FOR CHANGE.

Clinton claims that she is the most experienced, that she will be ready on day one, and that she will make the best Commander and Chief. How quickly has the media forgotten that the World Trade Center Towers were bombed in 1993. President Bill Clinton and Co-President Hillary Clinton were not ready on day one then. The Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, the Khobar Towers bombing in 1996, the U.S. Embassy bombing in 1998, and the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000 indicate that as Co-president, Sen. Clinton was never ready and never answered the ringing phone. She and Bill let the phone ring and go unanswered until President Bush took office. We now know the mess that got us into! There needs to be someone with sound judgement that won’t let things get out of hand again. Obama.

Rep. Steve King R-Iowa shows why the tactics the Republicans, under the leadership of George W. Bush has been to our detriment.
Osama bin-laden said it himself. His plan is to bankrupt the United States by forcing us to spend ridiculous amounts of money to fight a small enemy. His other plan is for us to spread our armed forces around the world to weaken us and the last part of his plan is to divide the United States politically.
While George Bush used “Mission Accomplished” as a slogan it’s really Osama bin-Laden that is completing his mission.

Brad’s comments are indicative of nothing more than Democrat party talking points. I know, because I’ve been asked (as a Democrat myself) to perpetuate them. But I will now.
If Brad wanted to be consistent, he’d remember another set of Democrat talking points… more like a “mission statement” from the Democrats just after President Bush took office. We Democrats were told that it was our JOB, our role, our mission to discredit, deligitimize and destroy the Bush presidency after the whole Al Gore/Florida mess.
Osama Bin Laden never had to “scheme” anything to “divide” our nation. Howard Dean and the rest of our… OUR… party leaders decided that all on their own, and unfortunately, folks like Brad went along with what was “popular” instead of what was right.
So now we have people like Congressman Steve King speaking what’s right (and not “popular”) and we see too many of my fellow Democrats once again aiming their “progressive” arrows right back at an American as if Mr. King were more dangerous for America than the Islamic terrorists.
Even as a Democrat, I still applaud Steve King (a Republican) for saying what he did.

Congressman King suggested that terrorists would celebrate an Obama win? I think he’s confused. Since Sen. Clinton claims “hands-on” foreign policy experience as First Lady, she must have had great influence in granting clemency to 16 FALN terrorists during her co-Presidency at the direct condemnation of Congress. To be exact, the condemnation read that the act was “…an unmistakable message to terrorists that the United States does not punish terrorists in the most severe manner possible under the law, making terrorism more likely and endangering every American.”

From my experience living in the USA for 12 years, a lot of older (and not so) white Americans are racist to a certain extent. More so in the country side. Steve King is a fear monger. I doubt if he has any evidence for making the statement.
The way to challenge him is to ask him to provide evidence to back up his statement. In an earlier post I have challenged him to name a just a few countries where terrorists would dance in the streets.
He dare not mention most of the Middle Eastern countries or Pakistan. The reason is very simple. These Muslim countries are our staunch allies and are fighting terrorism on their door step. They are providing us with intelligence and countries like Pakistan have captured and turned over to us some Al Qaeda leaders.
The Muslim countries (including Syria) were with us in the first Gulf War. They have not supported our invasion and occupation of Iraq.
The likes of Steve King have very little understanding of what’s going on in the world. People like him will only succeed in eroding our influence around the world, alienating our allies and make it more difficult for us to fight terrorism.
A recent poll by Times of London concluded that the majority in Western Countries like Britain and Germany believed that Barack Obama would be the best choice for President. Would Steve King argue that the majority in countries like Britain and Germany are terrorists?
And just to remind Steve King, we liked the name Hussein when Saddam fought a war against Iran. Didn’t we supply him with arms?

Sounds like Mr. King is fear mongering; to try and control the election. I am a registered Republican; voted for Obama, in my state primary, due to these types of tactics. We pumped up the terrorists when Carousing Clinton was in office; think everything has calmed down now.
Mr. King and the Clinton’s need to get out of the past.

I am almost more disturbed by comments here than by what King said. I thought people of all parties would condemn this whether or not they like Obama at all.
I understand some feel gradually pulling out of Iraq is wrong but he wants to ease an overburdened military and to be able to deploy more of them to Afghanistan where the resurgent Taliban and al-Qaida are growing in power.
Do people read the news to see what is actually going on in these countries? Afghanistan is the forgotten war and country.
Iraq’s main problem is sectarian violence and political discord. That doesn’t have a military solution. He plans a slow withdrawal with many other efforts involved.
It’s true that Muslims would be glad to see him as president, so would Italians and Germans and Norwegians and Africans and Canadians and Irish and most of the world. Anybody follow coverage?
But al-Qaida, no. He wants to actually fight them where they are. If anyone they’d like to see 100 year war McCain because the war is one of their main recruiting tools. Really. Whether the war was right or wrong even those who were glad to see Sadamm fall came to resent our ongoing occupation.
If you want to be stupid about names what about John McCain and John Wayne Gacy. Oh no, he has the same name as a mass murderer.
OH no, he and Hillary are the same race as Timothy McVeigh, in fact 99% of mass murderers are Caucasian. They must be dangerous!
Get a grip. Look at real news sites, not conspiracy sites. So what is Baracks father was from Africa and whatever religion he turned out to be. He left when Obama was two.So what if he spent some elementary school years in a school with Muslims and Christians and Hindus and Buddhists. They all had to mark a religion on their form but it was a secular school.
By the time he was 19 he was back living in Hawaii with his white grandparents and finished school there. Is that dangerous too? You think his grandparents raised him to be a jihadist there?
God help the hate and ignorance in this country. Is this why those with more education than high school support Obama, they are more likely to believe rumors and not look for facts? Those who hate his policies, that’s fine…but this is sick.

As an outsider watching Americans exercising the political process they try to export to the rest of the world, I am appalled by the vitriol and hatred that characterises some of their ‘democratically’ elected leaders, as well as some contributers on this site. Growing up as a young man, I used to admire American politics, under the umbrella of free speech. I naturally assumed that politically minded people in America will always engage discussion and debate around issues – not trade personal insults and making degrading comments based on a person’s name – something you normally find in so-called third-world countries. Following American politics for the first time in my life, I HAVE BECOME FULLY PERSUADED THAT AMERICANS ARE JUST AS IGNORANT AND AS UNDEMOCRATIC AS THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES THEY SO DESPISE! What Americans need to learn, or maybe, BELIEVE, is that POWER BELONGS TO GOD, and he gives it to whomsoever He wills -One day the wealth which America was blessed with – and which America has used to abuse the world with, will be taken away and given to a more deserving nation. I am ashamed to have supported America in over other nations in the past!!!

If you would not elect a person because their middle name is Hussein, we must be talking about different values.

Obama says he will go into Pakistan on actionable intelligence. His opponents call him a fool. Bush says he would not do it.
Months later the CIA does the exact same thing. Obama is vindicated. Bush still misrepresents his position.
Exactly why should the terrorist be dancing? They will be targeted effectively, as they should have been, rather than trying to get to them by invading non-related countries.

I applaud Congressman Steve King. I have been making this very statement on blog upon blog. I have sent this same concern to many of the news media, who tend to have ignored the ties that Obama has to Islam, first through his father, and then his step-father, and by his very ancestory.
It seems that people have forgotten that people with muslim names caused September 11, 2001.
There is still to much about Obama that is not known. The news media must, for the benefit of the USA, get out their shovels and dig deeply into Obama. Then, they must, for the good of the United States, share those findings with the American people, before we go to the polls in November.

I hope they have on comfortable shoes, because they are going to be dancing for a long time. That would make them easy targets, because they would not be keeping watch; and our military can come down on them with the wrath of the American people.
This statement was made by a sad person, he is everything that is wrong with this country.
But Sen. Obama has room for him in the brand new America that is rising from the ashes of fear and racism, all he has to do is join us in the 21st century.
He and the Clintons are two peas in a pod. Sad, just sad.

Waite a minute didn’t Obama win Iowa? Now Obamaniacs are putting down their representive to congress. They call Hillary all kinds of names worse than Hussein. I do not agree that anyone should use it as a wedge in order to get votes. It seems however his supporters wants to keep his middle name a secret. Just like they say it was wrong to show him dressed up in african garb. Yet it was Obama who hired a film crew to follow his trip to Africa and then cries foul when the picture he paid to have taken is shown. I don’t think there is anything wrong with wearing muslim garb but If I were planning on running for president of the United States after 9/11 and my middle name was Hussein I don’t think he was using good political judgement. If Hillary’s middle name was Sadam I think all of the Hillary haters would be saying it over and over. I don’t think she could get elected.

Sure seemed to help frustrate the Soviets, but then we got the Taliban and Al Queda shelter and of course 9/11) set the stage for a big dance last week as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rode in like he was the savior of Islam and the whole Middle East. To fully appreciate Steve King’s wisdom, let’s have some more quotes by this brilliant Republican:
King said immigrants trying to cross the border from Mexico should be treated like livestock: “I also say we need to do a few other things on top of that wall, and one of them being to put a little bit of wire on top here to provide a disincentive for people to climb over the top or put a ladder there. We could also electrify this wire with the kind of current that would not kill somebody, but it would simply be a discouragement for them to be fooling around with it. We do that with livestock all the time.”
In June 2006, on the floor of the House of Representatives, King said that his family would be safer in Iraq than Washington D.C.: “Well I by now have a feel for the rhythm of this place called Washington, D.C., and my wife lives here with me, and I can tell you, Mr. Speaker, she’s at far greater risk being a civilian in Washington, D.C. than an average civilian in Iraq.”
After the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi:”There probably are not 72 virgins in the hell he’s at,” King said about al-Zarqawi, in a recording transcribed by Radio Iowa. “And if there are, they probably all look like Helen Thomas.”
King has called former Sen. Joseph McCarthy, “a great American hero.”
In a statement issued by his Congressional office following the release of photos depicting prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib, King referred to the maltreatment of prisoners at the infamous Baghdad prison as “what amounts to hazing.”
Long Live The Republican Party!
We’re proud of you guys!
But we’ll vote for Barack Obama!!

As a non-white republican, I find it fascinating how you white folks dance around race relations. Kings comments will fade into nothingness by Monday. But here’s the real question: would Obama be so exciting if her were white? Would his speeches of “hope” and “change” sound so much like every candidate? Would any candidate having such little experience be given a pass and rise so high?
Those are the question we need to be asking ourselves; NOT whether his middle name will inspire ululation from Bedouins and not whether Arabs can look at the photo op picture and say “he looks like Uncle Al”. Is he more qualified to be the Democratic Nominee because he is Black… will his nomination remove the stain of discrimination from this Nation? If he does get the nod… it will be in part because of liberal white guilt! We need the best qualified person, NOT an affirmative action president.

Which unfortunatly is true. Do you think terrorists and 3rd world countries are gonna be protesting LOL I wish I was as enlightened to believe as you. Truth is these are people only educated by name meaning, religion, and fear. They dont have the luxury of education and free will thinking we so are accustomed. I disagree with the comment but I believe he has stated a truth that maybe our diverse (thankfully) and diverse population does not remember in their own history. We have come along way but the world is a big scarry place with people who dont respond to kumbaya and hugs. They believe in one right, just as the cathlioc church even in history is responsible for countless wars and deathes, but then again for anyone to admit their own heritage being wrong would be just ignorant huh. Facts are facts and unfortunatly the middle east doesnt have the same diversity training that we do. (once again thank the clintons for all the civil rights work they accomplished and how alot of the diversity and acceptance we have today comes from that era) but its again only history that doesnt exsist because its positive against the person you dislike.

People here are no worse than any place else. They do what people do. Are you saying you’re better than anyone else in the country? Explain.
People in other countries, I might remind you, do nasty things too–astonishing things like genital mutilations and genocide, bus bombings and chopping peoples’ heads off on videotape. People who are voting cannot be objective. They choose a candidate ideologically closest to themselves. However a country is not just about the present, it is also about the past and the future. If you asked me, an external observer, America needs MccCain to be president for the next 4 years. There is good and bad about what is happening to the country. However with an external debt of trillions and so many countries wanting to avenge or be the next superpower, any change should be implemented over a period of time. The change Obama is professing may be appealing but impractical. I have tremendous appreciation for the people and the country. Keep the flag flying high.

I don’t want to comment on what King said however, I’d like share this thought. What are young Muslin children of US of A thinking? Essentially, what others are saying is; if you are an US citizen who practices Islam, do not aspire to the presidency of the US of A and you are not allowed. Religion is not supposed to be a prerequisite of one’s ability to govern according to our constitution right? I’m not Muslin but we are showing the world how racist we are when a name/religion is more important than leadership quality.

Barrack Hussein Obama. The name says it all that Al Quada will be very happy when he wins the Presidency. Obama will retreat just the way the terrorists hope for us to surrender and give up.
In essence Bin Laden has a friend in Obama, since Obama will do exactly what Bin Laden wants and that is our loss in Iraq. And yes Al Quada will acknowledge that Obamas family is Muslim and that America now will begin its conversion process. I think we can look forward to a Bin Laden audio or video tape to this extent soon.

I do believe that as Americans we want to see the good in all.
We need to investigate all candidates and let all of these accusations come to the forefront.
Obama should discuss his father
Obama should discuss his name
Obama should discuss his church’s support of radical Farrakhan and why he still attends it
Obama should be asked questions about Reskco the criminal from Chicago
Obama should explain why he keeps telling governments one thing and the American people another
What are we kidding.
All candidates should be thoroughly
investigated.
Wake up America.

The republican’s senator uses hate to distract from the point. A tactic done when the commenter is in the wrong. Educated people see through it, others do not. When in war with terrorists one must go to where the terrorists are and operate. The terrorists are operating out of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The two places where Barak Obama wants to focus in on because as we all know Iraq was a colossal mistake. Focusing on the middle name “Hussien” is the Republican Senators attempt to pander to the stupid. The people who’d rather attack then think. The types that shoot at a moving shadow without ever knowing if it’s a threat. That’s why Obama has the largest number of educated voters. Selling fear to Amarican’s is so pathetically easy that the rest of the world would be laughing if it didn’t represent a clear and present danger to the rest of us. The younger generation get it. They’re not the stupid ones. They can see through the BS because they are the media generation and the lies don’t sell.

LET THE REPUBLICANS HAVE THEIR FUN NOW. WE KNOW WHAT THEY REALLY ARE. JUST WAIT TILL THE MEDIA STARTS DIGGING INTO INTO MRS. Mc SAME BACKGROUND THE WAY THEY HAVE MICHELLE OBAMA AND BILL CLINTON…OK LISTEN UP: Cindy was not just a ‘drug addict’ people. While running a very important charity AMERICAN VOLUNTARY MEDICAL TEAM she FORGED PRESCRIPTIONS using one of her charity’s Medical Doctor’s prescription pads. A whistle blower by the name of Tom Gosinski (a member of AVMT) and the DEA were all over Miss Cindy and it was only when the media had the story ready to run with it did John call in his pit bulls to do damage control. If you or I were found forging prescriptions we’d be in the slammer. Ms. McCain simply skated into a ‘diverison’ program which in effect meant nothing. She is a vacant slice of white bread whose husband by the way has a deadly form of cancer (Malignant Melanoma) and is by no means a well man at the age of 70. McCain, who I actually admire for his service to the country, is not a bad guy. But president? No sir. To further damage his credibility – the moron in the white house has endorsed him. Talk about loser dust wife…older version of Paris Hilton :). THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING…LOL. WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE.

I think before anyone posts or says anything about which one of our politicians should be our next president they should take a look at some of the facts about our situation, and then ask the right questions.
First, the United States is legally broke!
Our government is managing our fiscal debt ledger worst than Enron or other corporations that went bust. If you do not believe me, go to the General Accounting Office (GAO) and read what our Comptroller General David Walker has been saying for the past two years in his Fiscal Wake-up Tour. Just type in the Google bar, GAO and then look at the lower right and you will see, Fiscal Wake-up Tour. Please take the time to view some of the videos and look at the slides concerning our fiscal debt. Next, Google 60 Minutes – David Walker and view their program on what he has been screaming for the past two years. Our politicians continue ignoring him.
Once you have done your homework, ask why all we are hearing from our politicians is what additional money they are going to spend for our good, not what programs they are going to cut to save our nation.
They are just like the irresponsible families that are forced into bankruptcy by credit cards. It is just like parents giving their children all of the credit cards and telling them to go spend; we will worry about how we are going to pay them off on December 9, 2008. Why this date?
You need to review S. 2063, “The Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action Act of 2007.” It requires lawmakers to swiftly address the nation’s long-term fiscal challenges, and to ensure the nation’s future economic security and prosperity.
The Act establishes a bipartisan task force of Congressional Members and Administration officials who will make bipartisan recommendations on how to immediately and substantially improve the government’s long-term fiscal imbalances.
A detailed report of the Task Force’s findings, conclusions, and recommendations (including legislative text required to implement these recommendations) must be submitted to Congress and the President on December 9, 2008.
Simply put, our years and years of spending has finally caught up with us and now it is time to face the facts but our politicians refuse to do so. Our mainstreet media refuses to ask questions of our presidential candidates. In order to fix our financial challenge it is going to take massive program cuts and massive tax increases, however, our politicians do not want to face it, they want to continue spending your tax dollars to buy your votes.
We are almost $10 trillion dollars in debt, our fiscal debt ceiling has been raised five times since 2002. Communist Red China owns $400 billion of our IOUs and has $1.3 trillion U.S. dollars, in cash, in their bank.

This is just the beginning of what more will come. The Republicans and their prostitutes are just warming up their filth and lies machine. They will go to whatever lenght to destroy Obama or Clinton, as they did Kerry with the “swift boat” dirtbags. Of course, McCain will deny or claim any such attacks as “authorized”. BS.

Obama is a Farce
Obama gets to be president, the middle east and al queada will be dancing in the streets. Many of them have already were Quoted saying just as much. They are looking forward to it.
He will be Live prey… Not because he is new and inexperience. But for what he believes in.
American People do not know anything about Obama, only what he has told you.
Many times that has been sheer lies.
Telling you one thing, then when called out on it, flip-flops to a direct opposite.
He has told Americans what they wanted, lead them to believe that is what he wants too. says he cares, pretends to be one of the gang, throws in some religion and the he is so good and kind. When in reality he keeps changing his mind about what he wants, Has lied to you and flip-flopped on so much already.
He keeps pumping you up, and leading you on for your votes. Once he gets in office, it is what he wants not you. Evident by his voting record.
He wants to make History, He wants to be the first Black President. He has a non- negotiable allegiance is to his church and the Black people.
He said he will change government. Hmmm I like democracy. You have told, him by your votes to change government. What do you want, Fascism , Socialism, Anarchy? I see many following Obama blindly…..
I wonder if he will make his religion a national thing. He said he will take his religion where ever he goes. Shame I do not like his religion. I like mine.
I do not know what kind of spell he has over some people…….Many should be waking up. Asking Question,Demanding answers, Putting pressure on for the truth and make him answer.
You owe it to yourself, Your Country and the Future of this country.
God Bless American.
We need it now, more than ever.

In 2008, Senator Obama rails against NAFTA in Ohio while his top economic advisor assures the Canadians his rhetoric is just “political positioning.”
He promises to opt in to public financing if the GOP nominee does, but then breaks that pledge in real time. He promises to withdraw from Iraq within 16 months, and now his top foreign policy adviser says that he’s not relying on the plan.
It turns out those speeches were just words.
And if you can’t trust Senator Obama’s words, what’s left?

Wow at some of these comments that I read on here. Goes to show you how deep racism goes. Having a middle name that almost no one uses is now cause to point the finger at you as being a terrorist. Lets review things as they stand. Iran and Iraq were pretty much keeping each other in check. Now Iran is dominating the middle east. Only thing changed in Iraq is now the shiites are now in power. The same shiites that are beholding to Iran. Now now do the republicans spin this. America should stay in Iraq and play middle man to religious sects? Lets face it that is all that they are doing over there now. The war to get rid of saddam has been over for years. Spending billions fightin alqueda in iraq, that moved in because the US allowed them to is just preposterous to me. Now the Republicans would like to see america just stay there indefinitely. Unbelievable to me. Does some of these people even think, or are they that narrow minded? I can only shake my head at what america will look like in four years if america stays in Iraq. Its already pretty clear that Al quedas plan is working flawlessly. Devide the US, Stay in Iraq, make the US fight guerillas while using up all the resources of the country to do it. It would be nice if some repulicans with some sense would see things for what they are. It doesnt take a genius to put two and two together.

Question to all of you Obama supporters. The other evening, Obama, in response to a Hillary Clinton comment, stated words to the effect, I am skinny, but I grew up tough in Chicago. I presume that such comment was made to cause people to imagine an inner city kid from Chicago fighting to get ahead.
Now, when you read the profile of Obama, which is contained in wikipedia.com, it is stated that Obama, from fifth grade to 1979 attended the Punahou School in Hawaii. (born in 1961, so, in 1979, would be age 18, just right to graduate from High School)
Then, wikipedia.com comments are, he went to Los Angeles and studied at Occidental College for two years. Then, he moved on to Columbia University, NYC, where he received his BA in 1983. From there, worked at Business International Corporation and New York Public Interest Research Group before moving to Chicago to take a job as a community organizer.(wikipedia.com)
So, is this period of time ‘that I grew up tough in Chicago’ when he was working as a community organizer? Damn, that must have been rough. LOL
Wonder if that is where he first encountered Tony Rezko?
Lots about this guy that no one knows, of is afraid to share, for fear of reprisal or repercussion.
But, time will tell. It always does, but, hopefully, not to late to prevent him being elected, if he gets the nomination.

Iowans just voted for one Democrat to take over a Republican Congressional seat. They may just decide a that Democrat needs to replace King in Congress.
The congressman’s comments made about Obama hurts McCain because it shows the lack of respect for McCains wishes not to run this type of campaign. Remember McCain loss to Bush in part because Republicans were told he had a
illegitimate BLACK child. In fact McCain adopted a child from Pakistan.

In regard to your statement “Obama win would have terrorists ‘dancing in the street’ because of his middle name, who his father was and because he wants to pull out of the Middle East” is utterly ridiculous. It is demeaning and racial. I am outraged at your comment!
It is absolutely impossible for me to understand how you can actually continue to condone the Iraq war. We should have ended our involvement when we “got” Saddam Hussein. That is, we never should have started the war in the first place. Not until we were sure Iraq was the culprit of 9-1-1.
Since then, we have spent billions of dollars and too many lives to support our mistake. We people who are not financially wealthy cannot afford to keep the war going. It is too expensive and deadly and will not end until we stop it. Pouring more and more money into the conflict will not resolve the conflict. Our country has suffered way too much to continue this fiasco. Money is not necessarily the only reason to end the war…the world attitude about us has been tarnished severely. I support Barack Obama to end the war and misery you Republications have created.
I am glad we are free country and can express our opinions but we need to be responsible for what we say anyway.

It appears all he wants is people to take a closer look at Obama and dig into his past and ties with other groups, every one has slamed Hillary to no end and every one says its fair, but to question Obama is a no no. Obama has preached change and this and that, of course there will be a cange no matter if he or she is elected anything be better than what we have now, to a point, if Obama is elected the whites better get a group ready to fight for civil rights and equal treatment as it clearly shows by the votes its a “beat the whittie” and then you have his advisors saying waite he has no plans or intentions to bring about these changes, its strange his advisors now bring the truth out, its a black-v-white election, one needs to consider if no black was running would there be so many black voters in this race, think about it

according to you Rep. Steve King if Obama were to become president of the united s. there will be wild celebration omong the terrorists or this world.
well actually Obama has been winning, state after state, caucus after caucus, delegates after delegates, yet the only ones i see celebrating wildly are the millions of your fellow American that wants him to stop the war in Iraq & Afghanistan.
i hope your Hon. is not indirectly calling American citizens terrorist, who else will celebrate America than Americans, or is he implying that the president of the Us will invariebly be the president of the wolrd?
if you look close enough you will notice that i did not complete the name United states because nothing is united about the states of America, how else can you explain a member or Rep. calling a presidential candidate & serving congress man ‘A FRIEND TO TERRORIST’ just because Saddam Hussien was bad does not make all Hussiens bad, unless his implying that they are related.

Although, i am not American, but I feel that the problems of America is not the ordinary people but the choice of leaders who are war inclined. Of all the candidates, if I have my will, the one to go for is Obama. He is young, dynamic and inteligent. The American Precidency should not be on the family lines. the Bushism and the Clitonsm.

Bush is the one who had terrorists dancing in the streets. He brought our military into Iraq and Afghanistan and picked fights which both enabled and “legitimized” them in the eyes of many of their people. When Reagan left Beirut after the marine barracks bombing, the terrorists did not follow. When the French left Algeria, the terrorists did not follow. Terrorism occurs because of political reasons, not because “They hate our freedoms” or some other moronic reasoning (that people in the US are just so eager to swallow without questioning). Remove the political reasons, and you end terrorism. By going over there and using force, you just give them more reasons to fight back. You can’t solve all the world’s problems with the military.

On November 1, 2004, even Fox News reported that the terrorist strategy in defeating us is to “bleed America to bankruptcy” through occupation.
King should understand that occupation is essential to the success of Bin Ladens strategy, before condemning our troops to unsustainable occupation. Bleeding the Soviets to bankruptcy was the successful strategy that Ronald Reagan used in the Soviet / Afgan war. We taught this strategy to Bin Laden when he was a “freedom fighter” for our causes. Unfortunately, Bin Laden has not forgotten, and as a terrorist has used it against us. King’s fearmongering far outweighs any concern he has for our troops. When strategy fails as dismally as here, people expect it to be changed.
Obama, will withdraw our troops. Strategic strikes will replace occupation—defeating the primary strategy to bankrupt us. Our troops will no longer be obligated to be mere targets for Al Qaedea bullets and bombs in a political shooting gallery.
Al Qaedea’s success is premised on politicians like Mr. King refusing to admit to arrogant mistakes and real economic conditions at home. If only King were as dedicated to our troops and national prosperity, as he is to facilitating Bin Laden’s strategy of bankrupting us through occupation.

They are out of touch with ordinary people because they don’t earn that honest buck. “I would never demean a political party… but.”
Good old semantics… Playing around with the truth. Taking the bible and using it like a punchline to fit your own ends. That bothers me most of all, because their winning way is to do whatever is necessary. Regardless if it kills people in the process. They have such contempt for human life that they remind me of the aliens in “The arrival”. But they are more interesting.

Would a US presidential candidate named “Adolf” stood much of a chance of winning an election in the 40′s?
Whether or not you agree or disagree with the article, the main reason why any rational, thinking person would avoid voting for either Clinton or Obama is because they’re both socialists.
Why not vote for someone who believes in capitalism, a free market, the Constitution and the rule of law? Sadly, I’m not totally convinced that McCain is that person either.
But a vote for Hillary or a vote for Obama is a vote for al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
You might as well vote for Hugo Chavez or Raul Castro or Kim Jong Il.

His hateful fearmongering is reprehensible. Barack Obama’s name does not make him a radical Islamic terrorist and Steve “King”‘s name does not make him a noble man. This is not the first time this man has embarrassed the Fifth District and the entire state of Iowa. Unfortunately we only have a choice between 3 democrats, Obama, McCain and Clinton. The true conservatives dropped out long ago.
Matters not which one is elected, we will pay a hefty price. We will lament daily and wish that the U.S.A would have paid alot more attention to whom we elected to hold public offices instead of just electing someone because they promise to give us something.
Very few of the elected officials could care one whit about the U.S.A. and the Constitution. They only care on what it is that they can get from being elected to office.
We will truely get what we deserve and non should complain about it.
Good luck all.

I don’t see King’s comments as racist. He is simply stating a reality from Islam’s point of view.
Imagine that a white man named Ahmed James Smith were elected president of Iraq (his father was American and his mother Iraqi).I imagine that American’s might view this as a great success in the effort to spread American-style democracy around the world.

For Republican in Kansas:
Michelle Robinson Obama wrote a senior thesis for her BA in Sociology from Princeton U in 1985. I downloaded a copy from the web and read it through. The premise of the thesis is that there are two groups of people differentiated by skin color. Those two groups are (1) black, and (2) white. The thrust of the thesis deals with the manner in which blacks and whites interact, and how these interactions change over time. She states that she felt she did not belong at Princeton (probably correct) and felt like a visitor. She concludes that yes, there is some change in the mixing of the races over time, but implies that that is because whitey controls everything, and that if a black wants a job, then they have to cozy up to the man. The thesis is about Michelle’s feelings, and reflects her mindset that everything — everything — is about race. Here is a woman who received a world-class education (who paid for it and how did she get in?) but four years later, is still whining about “still feel[ing] like a visitor on campus; as if i really don’t belong” in the university community. Now she is making a six-figure income living in a $million-plus home (bought under questionable circumstances), and just now she is “proud to be an American.” For Obama to choose a whiney racist for his wife says a lot about him. To imagine them (especially her) on the world stage is embarrassing. For her to have any influence on domestic policy could be racist retaliation against non-black people. By the way, there is no indication that the first draft of the thesis was made in crayola.

Some people are creeped out to hear the clear facts/truth spoken..it chills them to the bone, they simply can’t handle the truth. Denial may “feel better” but it does not win your safety & security in the long run…it’s a very dangerous game that some in our country want to play. We want the soldiers home too, but when you are at war, you have to fight, and support the fight in order to win. Denial=surrender.

This is the reason why our country is the way it is. We americans should come together and bring in a new america, one that doesn’t care about religion, race, gender or political stand. America is the land of the free! So even though we disagree with what this man has stated, we still need to embrace him and all who believe in him. Are you not tired of all the name calling? God takes care of those who believe in him and what he stands for. We as people are so fast to criticize someone for the things that they say, right or wrong, everyone has the right to say what it is that they have on their mind. We may not agree but isn’t that what this country stands for, “Freedon of speech”? I believe that however the elections turn out, that is the way it is suppose to be. I wish for this country to come together and show the rest of the world that we are not weak in any way. I remember when 9-11 happened, America came together like i have never seen it come together before. And I was proud because we have shone that even in adversity we come together as one. God bless and have a good day.

Interesting that Hillary is fond of claiming to have been a key player in the formulation of Clinton Foreign Policy: 9/11 was a direct result of the Clinton Administration’s feckless responses to the numerous Al-Qaida provocations and terrorist assaults against our national interests; as well as, Clinton’s inexplicable temerity in refusing to take Osama bin Laden into captivity when offered several times by the Sudanese. Clinton then exercised little more than his jawbone as bin Laden trained literally thousands of terrorists in his Afghan camps. All of which, convinced bin Laden that he could strike our homeland with relative impunity. The potential for success in bin Laden’s planned assault on our homeland was significantly enhanced by the infamous Gorelick memo, (Jamie Gorelick being a Hillary protege’), which the Clinton Administration promulgated to prohibit any terrorist information exchange between our FBI and CIA intelligence operatives. Further, in the Dec. 4, 1998 Presidential Daily Intelligence Brief , Clinton was advised that Bin Laden was preparing to hijack US aircraft to employ in terrorist attacks against our homeland. He was apparently too consumed in his pursuit of Monica to take follow-up action. However, history will record the most heinous assault on America’s national security interests by a U.S. president as Clinton’s transfer of our most advanced missile guidance technology to the CHICOM for a few campaign shekels. A CHICOM financial arrangement which Hillary continued under Norman Hsu and her ChinaTown dishwasher scam. Does any rational person really want to return the Clinton cabal/scandals to the White House? Greg Neubeck

Hey Kevin – guess you’re not voting then.

To: A reader
“Just tried to email Rep. King’s office in Washington, the form wouldn’t allow me to send an email because my zip code was not from Iowa. Is that legal to not allow me to email a US Rep?
I wonder if King realizes that the 100 years of quagmire Sen. John W. McCain promises is precisely what Al Qaeda wants.”
Reid, Pelosi and all the dems do the same thing. They only want to hear from their constituents. You can, however, write a letter or, for the leadership positions, go the their official sites and post a message.
As to your post about McCain, you obviously have listened to his comments via the mainstream media. If you stopped for a minute and thought about it in a historical context, you wouldn’t put your foot in your mouth that way. What do I mean?
Well, let’s see, we have troops in Europe, right? Since D-Day we’ve had troops on the ground in Europe. Earlier than that we had troops in England prepping for the liberation of Europe. Is THAT a quagmire, skippy?
Iraq isn’t even a quagmire and never was. But folks like you pronounced it a quagmire 5 days into the liberation effort when the troops out-ran their supply lines and had to wait for supplies to catch up. Hardly a quagmire but the leftist, anti-Americans who run the media had to misrepresent the facts to start building an anti-Bush, anti-war movement.
Oh, and to the moron who said, “War never brings piece.” What the hell planet are you from? There is no peace without victory over one’s enemies, and more often than not, that means there was a war to settle things. Think “Revolutionary War”, “Civil War”, “Spanish-American War”, WWI, WWII, etc. Read a history book.

WHAT REP. KING SAID WAS NOT BIGOTED OR RACIST IN ANY WAY. You foolish democrats always turn everything into race. King said that the terrorists would be happy if Obama was elected because Obama is for withdrawing the troops and surrendering. King also said that Obama’s middle name is a common name in the Middle East and the Muslims over there would see some sort of a connection. There’s nothing racist in that statement, King just stated how Muslims in the Middle East feel about names. King never actually said Obama’a middle name.
This election is going to be ridiculous because anytime someone criticizes Obama for any reason they will be called racists and bigots.

Mr. Robert Moon needs to take some college course, or workshop on what racism is all about, if he is not able to recognize Mr. King’s racist comments.

Jim Wallis, the evangelical theologian and best-selling author, gets the last word.
“Like his politics or not, support his candidacy or not — but don’t disparage Barack Obama’s faith, his church, his minister or his credibility as an articulate Christian layman who feels a vocation in politics,” Wallis wrote in a blog last week.
“Those falsehoods are simply vicious lies and should be denounced by people of faith from across the political spectrum.”

You cry babies are so incredibly lame! Do you really think that if King had not made his comments that the outcome would be any different. The facts remain, our enemies do have a preference as to who is in power. And sometimes perception is greater than reality.

Rep. King has been a staunch supporter of immigration reform, and hence a supporter of his own people. He deserves immense credit and support for his posture. But this statement is a different matter altogether. Barack Obama couldn’t possibly be any worse than George Bush.
I think the reason we haven’t been attacked in a meaningful way since 9/11 is because al Qaeda and company have chosen not to. Bin Laden has us right where he wants us. We’re hated in the world like never before; we’re going deeper into debt every day to finance this way, and our dollar is sinking like a stone; and Bush is the most unpopular sitting president in my lifetime. Republicans have become so unpopular because of this war that bin Laden deserves much of the credit for the Republicans’ defeat in 2006. In a sense, he brought down our government.
It would be easy too easy for al Qaeda to launch another attack. They would only have to enter the country with the other illegal aliens, and their weapons could be smuggled in in bales of marihuana.
Since our borders are standing wide open, we’re only kidding ourselves if we think George Bush has stopped more attacks.

Americans had chosen a wrong candidate for a Republican Party. Are Americans robots that they let the media choose a candidate for them?

Don’t forget Mr. King that President Bush and his family are close friends with Osama Bin Laden family. Remember they wre able to fly out of the United States when all other flights were grounded. May be this is why Osama can not be found.

All people who are voting for Obama should be asked when has, he ever said anything that didn’t amount to out right stupidity when it comes to foreign policy.

Congressman Steve King is shedding some truth on an American culture that has lost its way. The press should reveal Obama’s connections to hard left figures and his own voting record that is extremely liberal. And the press should reveal Obama’s connections muslim relatives and organizations. Sadly, so much of American moral and political culture has become so tolerant of everything except traditional Christianity and traditional values, that people seem to be rushing American to national suicide.

I believe this comment is irrational and shows great stupidity on his part. First of all tell me what Terrorist have to do with are presidential election, tell me what these 3rd world countries like iran, iraq have to do with America. Where they set roadside bombs down were citizen are afraid. Tell me what this barbianism has to do with my Presidential Canditate Obama.

I guess our freedom of speech only pertains to you who speak out FOR leftist views…The guy who left the first comment needs to go back and take grammer..That would be “our election” not “are election:

I agree with Greg Neubeck’s comment. I’ve been following Bill and Hillary Clinton’s criminal and traitorous careers for many years now.I wonder how people could possibly support and vote for them. Seeing Hillary Clinton on TV with people in the background waving their Hillary signs and jumping up and down screaming for her makes me wonder how our culture has changed. We have lost any sense of accountibility and responsibility in this country. Bill and Hillary Clinton should be in prison. If it would be normal, hardworking folks like us who did things that Bill and Hillary did, we would be in prison. Bill and Hillary Clinton are liars, theives, extortionists and murderers who want to rip off every hard working person for their socialist agenda. People, WAKE UP! We need to take our country back before it is to late. A vote for Hillary or Obama, is a vote for communism.

My letter to Congressman King:
Mr. King,
I have lived in Iowa my entire life. I was born in Iowa County and I graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College. I take pride in Iowa and I believe that Iowans are some of the best of what the United States has to offer.
Your comments on March 7th regarding Barack Obama are a barrier to others outside of Iowa to understand this belief. As a congressman, I’m sure your intent was not to belittle the people of Iowa with your comments. I believe a full apology is the only way to clean the tarnish that you have left in the minds of others throughout the country and world of Iowans.
I do not share your belief that “terrorists win” with an Obama Presidency. I believe that the opposite shall occur. Obama has the opportunity to meet with other world leaders in order to put an end to radical religious forces. Just with his name, Obama, many radical Islamists may decide NOT to become a suicide bomber because the political leader of the United States has similar Islamic ancestry as him or her. We have a major opportunity here to put an end to radical elements and help others understand that we all come from the same basic elements – Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen.
While you’re at it, please also increase your efforts and spending on education. Everyone has something to teach and to learn. If we increase the real experience of education, reasoning, and understanding we can turn short, misinformed sound bites into real communication with an educated and thoughtful electorate. I’m sure that would make your job much easier.

“if people truly love their children and care about the troops, then they already know not to support mccain over either obama or the candidate who will be the best President that America needs, Senator Hillary Clinton”
if people REALLY supported the troops, they would look at who the active military is supporting the most. Number One is Ron Paul. Number Two is Barack Obama. Explain to me how voting for Hillary Clinton is supporting the troops??? Ask the troops who they would like as their commander in chief before you start spreading propaganda.

Well it looks like “balanced” ABC news pulled my previous comments. If you people want to see some picture of Obama supporters, check this out.
Yes, they do hate America.

Now it looks like “balanced” ABC news pulled my link again. What’s the matter ABC? Are you folks really scared of Barack Milhouse Obama getting negative exposure? If you people want to see some pictures of Obama supporters, check this out.
Yes, they do hate America.
What’s the matter ABC? Why don’t you just man up and tell us all what you really think? Why do you folks have to be cowards and hide under the mantle of impartiality?

It’s just a shame more people in Washington are not willing to tell the truth about this man called Obama. I salute you Rep. King.

Jillibean – wake up and smell the coffee. The terrorist state of mind was the same as those in Vietnam, kill enough soldiers and the weak kneed Americans will turn and run tail. If you cannot stand behind the troops, then feel free to stand in front of them. Also throwing money at a broken system doesn’t do anything. How many states promised millions of dollars in gambling revenues to education if they allowed gambling and they are crying for more money still. Fix your local system first, then maybe you should get more money.

I am heartened to see at least some people on here “get” it. Osama and Co want this war to continue and it’s McCain they will celebrate, not Obama.
Their plan is to bankrupt America and the West, a plan that is working quite well from where I’m standing. Al Qaida WANTS a McCain presidency, and is terrified of an Obama presidency, because they need the war to continue for the plan to succeed.
This is why we’ll see a video from Osama on Nov 1 claiming that an Obama presidency is a cause for celebration and proof that we can be “converted”. Because without McCain in the WH, Osama’s war is lost. Hell, Obama might even go after his hideouts in Afghanistan and Pakistan!!
I’m glad to see that at least some people see this…we’ll see if it’s enough on Nov 4th.
Rep King, President Bush, and John McCain: shame on you all, you all (especially McCain) should be intelligent enough to see that it’s your actions that will cause terrorists to celebrate. Obama is our only chance to get out of this mess.
Heck, he might even be able to pull off some kind of peace in the Middle East! THEN what would Al Qaida and the Carlyle Group and Haliburton do?!!
Posted by: Joe C | March 11, 2008, 1:22 pm 1:22 pm
Joe C,
you don’t get it. Osama and Co. don’t want to just wage war for it’s own sake. THEY WANT TO DECLARE VICTORY. If Obama wins the election, and he prematurely pulls troops out of Iraq as he has pledged to do, that will be the victory Osama wants.
