I wonder if that is how the latest PA poll was conducted?

How many “stories” have you written about this (non)-topic and how many about Bilary lies re: Bosnia and sniper fire, her role in the Irish peace accords, her lies about her NAFTA position then (1993) and now, her lies about the “uninsured” Ohio woman and her hospital encounter etc. Did you even write one comment about the $109 MILLION dollars the Clintons “earned” since Bill left the White House? It’s not what is written, it’s what’s left out or inappropriately emphasized that sours people on the media.
Obama spins like a pinwheel. So does he think that if he gives people jobs they’ll give up God, the Second Amendment, welcome illegal immigrants, and not worry about American manufacturing packing up and moving to China? How out of touch is that?
You could tell the cashier doesnt do websites. Because he own voice is on tape with no words being twisted out of context.

I think Obama’s supporters don’t care what he says……..They can’t face the truth about him, they just hang on the ‘bitter’ part of the comment and ignore the rest, you know the real insulting part, not to mention he said this when he thought no cameras were on him and no one was recording him. Now I know what Clinton meant a while back when she said…’When the lights go down and the cameras are turned off’…..I see what he is like and I won’t be fooled by him. Never vote for the man.
People who are diehard Obama supporters will not care. He has to worry about the undecided, I believe that number is at least 12%. I really don’t trust any of these polls they have been off all year. When you have a biracial candidate and a woman many people lie.

“They can’t face the truth about him, they just hang on the ‘bitter’ part of the comment and ignore the rest, you know the real insulting part”
Both Hillary’s and Obama’s supporters have said how they would welcome Virginia Senator Jim Webb as a VP. Webb is a great Democrat, but now I understand he is way too elitist and dismissive for Hillary to be attractive as a VP.
This what Webb wrote two years ago in The Wall Street Journal:
“Working Americans have been repeatedly seduced at the polls by emotional issues such as the predictable mantra of “God, guns, gays, abortion and the flag” while their way of life shifted ineluctably beneath their feet.”
It is an excellent observation in an essay on class struggle in America today. Yes, the truth about our country can he hard. But is the analysis insulting? And is it very far from Obama’s remarks? I think the storm would have been even greater if he had used Webb’s words.

Why should we care what the people of Pennsylvania think. They cannot even understand this issue of illegal immigration. If you spend too much time polishing your six-shooter, you wouldn’t have enough time to comprehend the issues anyway.

What’s not reported is
Obama won a Superdelegate yesterday

What’s not reported is
Foxnews reported Al Gore and Jimmy Carter are planning to have a private meeting with Clinton to drop out of the race
Keep it simple, Barack. First rule of public speaking: every level of abstraction loses you 80% of the audience.
When someone asks you if you believe the world was created in six days, answer: “No. Do you?”
When someone asks you what is wrong with voters in Pennsylvania, answer: “No Product. No Market. No Sale. No Pay. Which one of those should we fix first?”
Talking people up by talking other people down fails every time unless you are at a klan rally or a black liberation theology church. In either case, you are somewhere you shouldn’t be, so if you find yourself talking like that, take a quick breath, then take the first train out of there.

Oh Vanessa,
I said the other day when the _____ hit the fan, that a faction within the DNC would respond by throwing out a couple of 3rd tier democrats (asking them to fall on their swords) to TRY to give the impression that this (like the Wright issue) isn’t important to people. Your guy has tanked. Get used to the idea.
The DNC better be getting ready to inscribe their convention memorabilia with the initials “HRC” – aside from the obvious problems, they’ll look a lot better than “BO” on a towel!

This just posted today:
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Florida shows McCain attracting 53% of the vote while Obama earns 38%. Last month, amidst talk of a possible Florida revote, Obama had closed to within single digits of McCain.
If McCain is matched against Hillary Clinton, the race is a toss-up—Clinton 45% McCain 44%.
I keep a daily tracking point of delegate count on this website
Obama gained a Minnesota SD yesterday
and another 4 SD today
Here’s the link from foxnews
From other sources,
Gore will have a private meeting with Clinton to drop out
If she choses not too
Both Carter and Gore will endorse Obama
This will be the end of the Clintons
Yep Carter should hurry up and endorse Obama with Carter new found love for Hamas it would be great then he and Obama can sit and think of 10 ways to make Hamas and other radicals love America.

“BITTER — BITTER — BITTER”
Obama will give us another ‘landmark’ speech about “BITTER SMALL-TOWN AMERICANS” — just like the one he gave us all in his “RACE RELATIONS SPEECH” but, just like the speech to explain his 20-year relationship with Jeremiah Wright, this one will not go away!
The Media is jumping around like a cat trying to bury crap on a tin roof! The truth about Obama is filtering out in spite of their efforts to downplay and bury it! Barack even wrote a book filled with his hatred for whites. Not the brightest thing to do. Obama is half black and half WHITE.
STOP PLAYING THE RACE CARD! If I call him “boy” — it means nothing! He gets away with everything — the double standard needs to stop now.
WHO CARES WHETHER HE’S A BOY OR A MAN — HIS FINGER DOESN’T BELONG NEAR THE BUTTON! OBAMA AND HIS ANTI-AMERICAN WIFE ARE A DANGER TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA — ALL 50 OF THEM!
Vanessa,
Are you going to apologize if the Foxnews report that you are pushing turns out bogus?
I’m still waiting for the apology for your misleading statement yesterday, whereby you indicated that Obama was well-positioned with his counter-attack for the Monday news cycle. As far as I can tell he was buried in defensiveness about BitterGate for yet another day, and his polls are starting to crumble. I wouldn’t even need to look at the numbers to tell you that, though, it’s just a matter of human behavior at this point.
========================================
Either Obama is an elitist or he’s just plain stupid. You decide.
========================================
Thanks for posting the link. I was more impressed by how thoughtful and serious the people were than anything else and I’m glad someone in the press showed that. Mostly we seem to get NY/DC/SF snark. (And yes, I know what working class small town people are like, I live in Red State Central.)
LOM – Polls are done all the time. One came out today with Clinton way ahead – but even the Wall Street Journal thinks that one is questionable. The WSJ says the endlessly repeated quote hasn’t made much of a difference: “Both pollsters agreed that Sen. Obama hasn’t been hurt much by his remarks about small-town Pennsylvania voters last week. Mr. Bennett [ARG] said few respondents mentioned them. Mr. Richards said, “My hunch is [the remarks] won’t make much of a difference because most voters who might feel insulted by his comments were already Clinton voters or republicans who weren’t going to vote for him, anyway.”
Posted by: mara | April 14, 2008, 7:04 pm 7:04 pm
What’s truly condescending is trying to manipulate voters into thinking that Sen. Obama’s comments are demeaning. In context it is evident to everyone that it is simply not the case.
To that end — What’s more insulting, saying that some people are bitter because of the economic failures of governemnt or assuming that voters are stupid?
Posted by: H. Aslan Aslani-Far | April 14, 2008, 7:07 pm 7:07 pm
H. Aslan Aslani-Far,
Thank you. I didn’t know what elitism was until you made your presentation. It is precisely more clear what it is, and you sir, are definitely made of the right stuff. The rest of us, undoubtedly are made of the wrong stuff. Thanks for making us feel a little bit more bitter.
========================================
Did you know that Obama thinks people use a six-shooter to hunt ducks?
========================================
Mara — I just sort of found the title “And What Do Small Town Pennsylvanians Think?” somewhat laughable because he interviewed about four people in that piece. I keep seeing “Obama Tanking in PA Polls” and had a brief chuckle wondering if it was conducted like this video clip.
Posted by: LOM | April 14, 2008, 7:12 pm 7:12 pm
whooops – i didn’t mean to make it sound like clinton isn’t ahead in PA – she is and she’ll win the state. the wsj just questioned the record of the pollster and the margin.
Posted by: mara | April 14, 2008, 7:12 pm 7:12 pm
All of Tappers articles are out to attack someone so I dont trust this article one single bit. Fox did a report interviewing people that compared to this was actually fair and balanced. a miracle i know, but that just shows how lousy Tapper is.
There still some realism left in the Clinton camp!
Per Mark Halperin’s page, Clinton PA surrogate number one Eddie Rendell told reporters before a dinner Saturday night that it could cost Obama “one or two points at the margin” in the Keystone State primary.
“But by the time November rolls around, I think this comment will be long forgotten.”
Mara,
Typically a large portion of undecided voters make up their minds in the last few days. As long as Hillary is in a good news cycle they typically break for her. Hillary is in a great news cycle currently because Obama has a despicably floundering cycle. This story will likely get another huge bounce because it will be used by analyst after analyst to explain why he flubbed Pennsylvania so miserably after almost closing the gap. This puts the story into play in other states.
The media is no longer expected to vet candidates. Karma is taking care of it for them.
========================================
Obama, making even Karma bitter!
========================================
Yes! Let Carter go ahead and give his endorsement of Obama. And the perfect place to do that would be from his meeting place with Hamas!
LOLOL. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Posted by: Jo | April 14, 2008, 7:16 pm 7:16 pm
Jo,
I’m with you on that. I had respect for Carter when he was carrying a hammer and banging out Habitat for Humanity houses. He’s gone a little bit cuckoo this time.
========================================
Obama, elegantly elite!
The rest of us, bitter!
========================================
I thought you cared less of polls numbers???
I gues not
The most recent poll has Clinton leading by 20
However, 2 polls done the day before has Clinton leading by 3 and 4
Obama leads nationally by 10 in the new gallup poll… increasing his lead
and lead by 20 in NC… increasing his lead
He now leads in Oregon by 10
She at once lead by 16
it is disturbing to read obama’s comments in context: his statements are declarative–economic hardtimes leads to dependence on religion, guns, xenophobia,…
that is a frightening stereotype…kinda like his grandma, the typical white person
Posted by: ron | April 14, 2008, 7:21 pm 7:21 pm
Jo — Yes, the Carter endorsement isn’t even worth the +1 delegate count in the Clinton column. I wouldn’t touch that guy with a 10 foot poll. A tete-a-tete with Hamas is not good policy no matter how you spin it.

This is such fun.

LOM: yep. it’s true that there weren’t a lot of people in the interview – but all i get is a really elitist view of small town america from the media (and my west coast family), so i was even glad to see real live people instead of pundits who had either a) never been to 90% of America or b) a few who went to America for a family holiday and got home as soon as they could. the poll i’d like to see is how people from manhattan/dc/la/sf see the rest of America including the correspondents/pundits who are after this story for fresh pretend stories. i don’t think it would be complimentary.

Obama and McCain tied

McCain beats Clinton by double digits

That has Obama closing in to McCain leads in Alaska, Montana, and Ohio
However,
McCain widens his lead against Clinton in Ohio
and beats Clinton in Alaska and Montana by double digits

The same Rasm poll that has Obama beating McCain in New Mexico by
However McCain leads Hillary by 3

Seems Obama was right once again
We will see red states turning into blue states in November when he’s the nominee
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS:
A vote for NAFTA, today she stated she will fix NAFTA, that her husband made a mistake on. Yet she keeps Penn on the payroll, and Bill is probably on the Emperor number 2 list as the Mayor of New York was number 9.
A vote for Hillary is 4 years more of Republican rule.
Cheney’s Hallibuton
Bush big Oil.
A vote for Hillary is more bullets flying over your children’s head. And I bet they will never forget the fear of near death istance, and will not misspeak about what happen
Doesn’t this headline tell it all:
“Pennsylvania crowd jeers Clinton attacks on Obama”
Today Hillary continued to hammer Obama over his PA comments.
But the Pennsylvanian audience at the forum put on by the Alliance for American Manufacturing didn’t appreciate her line of attack.
“I understand my opponent came this morning and spent a lot of his time attacking me,” Hillary said at the beginning of her remarks.
Many in the crowd responded with audible groans, and a few shouted, “No!”
Earlier the same crowd cheered Obama may times.
Same with the PA Compassion forum btw.
Pennsylvanians LOVE Barack Obama! I think. I hope. Now let’s wait for some reliable polls. Obama is alreay UP today in the Rasmussen and Gallup tracking polls.
Here’s an interesting quote for the Clinton camp that is attacking Obama for his PA remarks:
“If [Republicans] could cut funding for Medicare, Medicaid, education, and the environment, middle-class Americans would see fewer benefits from their tax dollars, feel more resentful paying taxes, and become even more receptive to their appeals for tax cuts and their strategy of waging campaigns on divisive social and cultural issues like abortion, gay rights, and guns.”

There are plenty of good-pay technical and professional jobs going off-shore: IT tech programmers jobs going to India, Brazil, Argentina. Project Manager jobs going to India, China, Argentina, Brazil. Call Center customer service jobs going to northern Ireland, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Argentina, India, China. Accounting and tax preparation jobs going to India. After a lay-off downsizing, I got a job offer and then was called back by the HR manager and told the job was going to someone on an H1B visa, and per policy they do not hire US citizens. I was turned down for several jobs because I was not fluent in Spanish. When I called State’s unemployment office, the staff were native Spanish-speakers with broken English. These off-shore workers no longer pay US taxes, and the corporations do not claim the revenue for US taxes. The paycheck, the technical expertise, the tax base is gone, gone, gone.

If you think Obama is not an elitist then listen to Michelle Obama’s language. Listen to this. Quote, this is from the UCLA speech she gave, “And Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. Put down your division, that you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones, that you push yourselves to be better and that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved and uninformed.”

Senator Obama is an arrogant politician who speaks and looks down on most hard-working Americans. His oratory skills are great but he is really an empty shell of man who has done little to bring jobs and improved life styles to his district in Chicago. He is just another politican who wants the power that this elected office will give him even though he does not have the intergity, judgement and experience the position requires. Vote for a rational and honest candidate, not Senator Obama.

Senator Obama is certainly out of touch with the thoughts and feelings of American families. I just looked at the polls and Obama has lost 23 points to Clinton in several polls. Also, Obama was mentioned in the Rezko trial again today and his pastor is still making the news, all negative for Obama. Maybe all the John Q. Voters get the true story/info about this politician who even bribes young people to work on his campaign. He is a fraud.

Auchi, Ouch – April 15, 2008 9:18 AM
The New York Times — not to mention the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, and the Associated Press report that a witness in the Rezko trial testified that in 2004 Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and his wife attended a party at Antoin Rezko’s home in honor of controversial Iraqi-born British businessman Nadhmi Auchi.
The testimony, by the government’s star witness against Rezko, Stuart Levine, seems to undermine Obama’s claim he doesn’t recall ever meeting Mr. Auchi, who in 2003 was convicted of fraud in France, (a conviction Auchi is appealing).
ISN’T IT STRANGE THAT OBAMA ONLY REMEMBERS THINGS AFTER HE GETS CAUGHT?
If Obama gets the nomination, the media and the right are going to have a field day! Think about it.
JEREMIAH WRIGHT. He does not know how to shut up. He is back on the pulpit inflaming Fox with his “stuck on stupid comment.” WHO is stuck on stupid, Jeremiah?? Go home and watch your greatest hits—I’m sure we will be subjected to them again and again. 527s in heaven.
WILLIAM AYERS, Obama’s friend and fellow board member, who AFTER 9/11 said he did not regret setting bombs in DC back in the 70s.
TONY REZKO, who was involved in the purchase of Obama’s home, now on trial for corruption.
MICHELLE OBAMA, who has never been proud of this country until just now, who has said that America is “mean” and has a “broken soul.” Who is bitter? But has anyone figured out why she is bitter?????
OBAMA’S own comments about small town America, lapel pins and “typical white people.” Has anyone suggested to him that it is not a good idea to lump people into groups and judge them? Seems sort of like stereotyping to me. Obama in particular comes off as arrogant when he does it.
You get my point. Kind of makes any Clinton story look like a toddler amusement ride, doesn’t it. And this is just the beginning…

Oh Vanessa,
I said the other day when the _____ hit the fan, that a faction within the DNC would respond by throwing out a couple of 3rd tier democrats (asking them to fall on their swords) to TRY to give the impression that this (like the Wright issue) isn’t important to people.

========================================
Either Obama is an elitist or he’s just plain stupid. You decide.

Obama, making even Karma bitter!

Yes! Let Carter go ahead and give his endorsement of Obama. And the perfect place to do that would be from his meeting place with Hamas!
LOLOL. You just can’t make this stuff up.

I’m with you on that. I had respect for Carter when he was carrying a hammer and banging out Habitat for Humanity houses. He’s gone a little bit cuckoo this time.

Notice how Vanessa doesn’t bother to mention how much McCain is beating Obama in the polls.
Lol. Cuz it ain’t pretty. Obama is dropping and dropping fast.

Posted by: mara | April 14, 2008, 7:22 pm 7:22 pm
So Vanessa just basically admitted that the more recent polls (taken as more and more people hear the “bitter” remarks) have Hillary way up.
Yes, Vanessa, that’s the whole point.

The same Rasm poll that has NC a red state
Obama and McCain tied
However,
McCain beats Clinton by double digits
The same Rasm poll
That has Obama closing in to McCain leads in Alaska, Montana, and Ohio
However,
McCain widens his lead against Clinton in Ohio
and beats Clinton in Alaska and Montana by double digits
???
The same Rasm poll that has Obama beating McCain in New Mexico by
However McCain leads Hillary by 3
???
