Bill Clinton Retells Hillary’s 1996 Bosnia Story

ABC News’ Sarah Amos and Eloise Harper Report: President Clinton, speaking in Boonville, Ind., revised history when he recounted his wife’s recent flap discussing a trip she took to Bosnia in 1996. President Clinton’s version had several inaccuracies and was slightly misleading.

President Clinton’s described his wife’s experience, saying, "There was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it – what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y’all see all that. Oh, they blew it up. Let me just tell you." Clinton then criticized the press, saying, “You woulda thought, you know, that she’d robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them, when they’re 60, they’ll forget something when they’re tired at 11:00 at night, too."

President Clinton’s version of the story has several inaccuracies. Hillary Clinton actually made the exaggerated comments numerous times, including at an event in Dubuque, Iowa on Dec. 29th, in Waco, TX on Feb. 29th, and twice — bright and early in the morning — on March 17.

Sen. Clinton did not apologize, as Mr. Clinton asserted. His wife did say she had made a mistake and said that she had misspoken when describing the Bosnia incident.

Sen. Clinton also wasn’t as quick with her apology as President Clinton may remember either. In fact, it took a week for her to eventually correct herself, first talking to the Philadelphia Inquirer editorial board on March 24 and again the following day in Greensboro, N.C.

President Clinton also indicated that his wife’s trip took place in 1996 – when it fact it took place in 1995.

President Clinton then later in the evening told the story again in Jasper, Ind., saying the press was treating his wife like the Mata Hari. "She took a terrible beating in the press for a few days because she was exhausted at 11 o’clock at night and she started talking about Bosnia and she misstated the circumstances under which she landed in Bosnia.  Did you all see all that?  And oh, they acted like she was practically Mata Hari – like she was making up all this stuff."

I always enjoy reading about Bill Clinton’s point of view. His view of the Bosnia thing is interesting and shows why Hillary felt threatened in her trip.
As for the oil companies, Obama has received plenty from oil company zillionaires according to what I have read. The belief that all his contributions come from small supporters is absolutely not correct.

Go Hillary,
I’ve seen Bill speak numerous times advocating for his wife, and he does a great job. We need this women to be our next president, and once she wins Pa by 15% and goes on to win IN, KY, WV, OR, and Puerto Rico we’ll be well on our way to that day. Despite ALL the media’s grand ideas of bringing Mr.Obama into Pennsylvania Avenue

Why on earth would he bring this up, now?
The story is dead and gone. The damage that is done is done. At this point, the bell can’t be un-rung.
I’m consistently mystified by what Bill has done in this campaign. All he does by bringing this back up by re-telling the story, is to have journalists look into HIS re-telling, which will invariably only be half true–at best.
Bill, you are KILLING your wife on the campaign trail.

The Clintons are pathological liars, and that includes their daughter who bold-facedly asserted that her mother’s lie about the landing in Bosnia was correct. Bill Clinton lied to the American people while under oath. Every single day, regular citizens are going to jail for doing just that: lying under oath. But he got away. Bill Clinton was stripped of his licence to practice law in Arkansas or before the Supreme Court because his conduct in the controversial produce market case, in his own words, bordered on illegal. How the American people continue to believe anything that this liar says is mystifying. Here is a family that lies. And people are willing to believe promises made by two pathological liars! Folks will have only themselves to blame when the sh*t hits the fan.

I really don’t understand you Clinton supporters. I read your comments and I am convinced that you suspend your ability to discern fact from fiction when you defend Sen. Clinton.
It’s really disconcerting. It’s disconcerting how you don’t see their triangulating, Rove-ian politicking and even through the campaign staff.
It’s not that the media is so Obama-biased, or that Obama supporters are just delusional (which is quite ironic). It is that the media and Obama supporters have caught onto genuine character and not divisive politics.

The arrival ceremony doesn’t look abbreviated to me. Now, if there would have been snipers in range, Hillary would have been a wonderful target. And the fact remains: she said she was under sniper fire, when she clearly wasn’t. That’s a lie and no matter how Bill (the man who lied under oath) twists and turns it, it’s still a lie.
Then again, not telling the truth must be a prerequisite for being a Clinton.
And I still say… the current race for POTUS reminds me of the Three Stooges or the Marx Brothers. The only difference is, the Marx Brothers were brilliant, even the Three Stooges were funny compared to Hillary, Obama and McCain. No matter how you look at it, the US will be screwed for at least 4 years. I’m so glad I’m not American.

Thanks, Ned – that’s the crux of the whole issue. Hillary didn’t hesitate to make our military look like reckless idiots who would let anyone, much less a state leader, venture from their aircraft under enemy fire – and she did it to make herself look cool. Unacceptable and reprehensible, period. Imagine how she’ll treat our troops if she wins the Oval Office. What a nightmare.

Oh, Bill.
Bill, dear, it is difficult to take you seriously.
Like your fellow lawyers do, once you prove that a witness has lied in a material way in the past, then that is ground to cast down upon his current testimony.
Right Bill Clinton?
And you have lied in the past, Bill, on a matter of grave importance to our republic.
And your wife (who you callously sent into the line of sniper fire) has lied too.
Don’t try so hard, Billy-Boy. That is the way things are. We don’t take your word – nor that of your wife – nor that of Chelsy (who went on that Bosnia trip and yet she let her mom go on fibbing until caught)

This is not funny anymore. It is astonishing that anyone could support these two getting back in the White House again. There is truly something psychologically the matter with these two and they need some professional help. I am not kidding or trying to be sarcastic. They really need some help.
You people who support this woman need some counseling too.

Posted by: eagle35 | April 11, 2008, 7:08 am 7:08 am

With Bill on her side, there is nowhere to go but down. How typical of him to re-rewrite history.
Are these people incapable of telling the truth?n And do their supporters not care about such things? I mean, seriously. Does it bother the supporters that they lie with such ease and with such frequency?

Posted by: Monty | April 11, 2008, 7:09 am 7:09 am

Bill Clinton claiming his family was the poorest family to move into the White House in 100 years is a total joke. Talk to the Fords or the Trumans….. Clinton’s wife practiced law for 15 years, sat on the board of companies like Walmart, got rich in cattle futures trading and he of course, was the governor of Arkansas, living for free on the taxpayers and getting paid on top of it. Do the Clinton’s make up everything they say or just most things?

I want everyone to know I’m a big Clinton supporter. The reason is that all the millions of people that vote for either one of them proves there is still a market for my schemes out there. You’ve got to love the way Hillary can flat out lie about always opposing NAFTA after stating in her autobiography that it one of the great achievements of Willie’s administration. She can always use the Charles Barkley defense on that one – when pinned down after contradicting something in his autobiography – Charles easily deflected the criticism by stating he way misquoted in the book. Take note Hill – it’s much more effective thatn the cackle.

I am a veteran who HAS been under enemy fire. Any comabt veteran will tell you what they think of people who lie about a combat experience that never happened! For that one lie alone she should withdraw from the race because no one would respect a commander in chief who said what she said.
The Clintons will do or say anything that they think will help the campaign. Please, let’s be done with these dispicable people for once and for all!

Posted by: Jim | April 11, 2008, 8:56 am 8:56 am

There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Hillary Clinton, like her husband, is a liar.
She fabricated her story about Bosnia. Over the last several weeks, she fabricated the story about the woman whose child was stillborn then died herself claiming she was turned away for not having insurance when in fact she did have it and was treated.
The list of lies goes on and on. The Clintons create fear in the minds of the feeble, those not willing or saavy enough to view the facts.
Then, she has a billion dollar program to clean it all up.
As a CPA, I estimate that her programs if passed would cost each and every taxpayer in the thousands of dollars in new taxes.
Weeks ago, she went into an auto plant in Indianna and in a speech indicated she was going to tax big business.
For those of you inclined to think this is a good thing, think for a minute. This is what results in your factories being shuttered and your jobs being exported overseas. It doesn’t happen any simpler than that.
Ohio was particular hard hit. Don’t forget, she was a major proponent of NAFTA. She now tries to distance herself from her lobbying efforts on behalf of her husband.
Michigan to the north also is a democratic tax and spend nightmare. The auto industry continues to hemmorage jobs because of policies she supports and will continue to expand.
Just remember that when you order your Rosetta Stone spanish software so you can move to Cental America to keep your job. Can you say peso?

The thing the former Impeached President has never understood is Integrity is a fundamental principle of leadership. If one understands basic human nature – then how a person does one thing is how they do everything. If she can’t even provide an honest answer over a trivial incident the how can anyone believe she will be able to tell the truth when it’s important.

Average Joe – “how is the topic in the subject line more important than the fact the economy goes down the drain at very very fast pace, beats me..”
It never fails to amaze me that you two party system supporters always try to deflect to another subject when you party is caught up in yet another situation. To answer you JOE, the topic in the subject line is more important because that is what this article is about, not economics. It is about the way that these political figure heads are flat out lying about things that are clearly documented, because they asked for them to be documented in the first place. The Clinton’s invited CBS on that trip to Bosnia, cameras and all. The media isn’t beating up on them, they are just coming out with the footage from the visit and it clearly shows she lied, and to beat a dead horse, I guess our former President decided he needed to add to the lies.
Kikz – you wrote “scott… I’m a strong Senator Clinton supporter and I hold a degree in Master of Science in Information Technology…
Did it sound to you uneducated?”
You have a Masters Degree and you still can not form a correct sentence? Let me lend a hand, it should read ” Does that sound undereducated to you? ”
Phoenix – “Uhm, might want to learn a little bit more about history there friend. Truman, Eisenhower, LBJ (taking over for Kennedy once he was assassinated), and Reagan were all 2 term presidents.”
I we are going to be accurate George W Bush also.
I’m an independent voter, and I have to tell you it is going to be real hard deciding who to vote for, and I am afraid I will have to support McCain because he is the best of the evils campaigning. The first that broke out at Hillary’s office was probably staged by one of Obama’s campaign workers because Obama is a desperate man to win every state here on. His campaign workers are made up of nothing but hate and fear that he won’t win the nomination. And I hope he doesn’t. This country is a disaster now and would be greater if he was president. As a candidate running for the presidency he doesn’t know which way the wind is blowing. Maybe he needs to called his underground crooked friend Ayres who was in trouble with the law at one time. Obama kept company with low down people and a crooked businessman. I am willing to get Obama got a bundle of cash from Rezko that is not reported on his taxes and never will be. God help us if he became president because this country would be ruined.

Of course Hilary lying isn’t like robbing a bank. I mean, why rob a bank when you could rob a presidential election by lying about your experience to get people to vote for you?
The benefits of robbing a bank don’t even come close… so I have to agree with Bill:
It definitely isn’t like she robbed a bank!

I think a lot of politicians have learned that Karl Rove was correct, when he encouraged the Bush administration to continually lie about most anything if it suited their agenda.(Iraq responsible for 9/11, WMD’s, “we don’t torture”, etc.) Rove calls this process “creating the reality.” As Rove explained to Ron Suskind, by the time journalists investigate and respond with the true story, the lies have been absorbed and accepted, and the journalists are ignored.
Bill Clinton knows that there are a few people in that crowd he was talking to yesterday that will never pick up a paper, will never question his statements, will believe that his words are absolute truth. If only 1% of voters are in this group. that’s enuf to change an election.

Mr. Clinton,
Your wife lied. Stop distorting the definition of a lie, just like you did when you were in office. No matter what the lie is about, a lie is a lie. Your wife knew she wasnt under sniper fire. Her words were carefully calculated to generate a feeling in the hopes that people would vote for her. Just about everything you and your wife say is calculated. You never say anything unless it will generate a desire to vote for you. You have no soul and you certainly dont have a genuine bone in your bodies. Why not tell people who you are rather than tell them what you think they want to hear? Is everything in your life about political posturing?
We are not stupid. We are on to your game…..and we vote. Not sure who I am voting for, but I know for sure that me and thousands of my friends will not be voting for a liar.

ABC focus on this story suggests a need for the media to formally review whether the network –and others–compy with journalistic standards set out by professional organizations. The nature of coverage leaves many wondering whether selection and presentation of news reflext sexism disfavoring females or a misundertanding about the obligation to present the story of diversity. Presenting the diversity story does not mean tilting coverage to favor a minority candidate nor lacerating the minority candidate’s opponent.

I’ve been sitting on the fence all this time I have come to these simple conclusions: 1) John McCain seems to be a man of integrity, but a man who wants to stay in the war 2)after looking at Hillary long and hard and reviewing her past I cannot, in my heart, support her because of her habitual denials and story telling. 3) As much as Obama is an unknown and has the Rev baggage, I find him inspiring and not effected at all by the negative traits of his pastor.
My bottom line: I’m taking a leap of faith and voting for Obama on the 22nd. I hope for the Dems sake that this is over soon. We cannot stay in Iraq.

Posted by: Patti | April 11, 2008, 10:52 am 10:52 am

Who cares. They are all pathologic liars. I do however think it is quite funny to see DEan out there and the only thing bad he can say about McCain is he is to old and old fashioned. Well maybe people need to look back and think about a time when a pesons word was good enough and the office of president was not a popularity contest. The prersident makes decisions based on imput from cabinet and all intelligence organizations and when it isn’t what the news media in this country wants they try to paint the president as if he is a idiot. If the media would keep its head out of Iraq the whole thing would probably be over. Let the generals make the decisions not the political nut cases like Hillary, Obama or the nut case as speaker of the house Pelosi. Also let the soldiers do their job without a camera in their face on the battlefront. Isn’t the reason we withdrew from Vietnam without a victory because the politicians weretrying to solve a problem with apolitical solution where there was NONE! Obama is a first term senator and how he got there is amazing to anyone with common sense. He certainly does not have the experience in world affairs or foreign policy to be in the white house. Just look at some of his debate comments and recent comments about the Iran situation. His approach is sit and talk with these idiots. Didn’t chamberlan talk with Hitler prior to Hitlers promise and then conquest of western europe. And just think if Hitler had nuclear weapons we would’nt need to have any of these conversations because the world would have changed so drastically that what was left of it would be small clusters of people living underground to avoid the radiation from fallout. So Yah_who lets talk to these clowns while they keep building centifuges and processing Uranium as they just said they would be doing this week. As far as Iraq it is the same thing you can either sit back and watch or do something and GWB chose to be proactive unlike any candya– democrat who would rather put their head in the sand or in BIlls case under the desk in the oval office with the likes of a 20+yo intern and play with a cigar rather than address the world issues. Just think if that democrat did his job and took Sudan up on their offer Osama would never have been around for 9-11 to have been planned by him and would probably not have happened. People need to look at the big picture of the cosmos and not their little microsphere of the world to see that at times things need to happen whether we agree or not because the lack of addressing an issue will at some point come back and kick the civilized world in the face as it did in WW-2. The only logical choice for the office at this point in time with the current application pool is McCain. So get off your lazy liberal
A—- and rather than look for a handout support the candidate who makes the most sense at this time and please ignore the liberal media and its montra about a candidate who they feel should be in the white house just because they are all on the bandwagon with Obama and just think six months ago they said Hillary was a shoe in and everyone believed it.

I believe it was a savings and loan she wwas involved with.

Posted by: John Colling | April 11, 2008, 10:58 am 10:58 am

I agree with Common Sense. There are two additional points I would like to make.
1) Some of the paople who heard the speech will believe it and that is the name of the game. The best way to get votes is to lie. How many people have had to run bent over with bullets coming overhead? Would you remember it if it happened? Of course. Can you have it in reverse? hmm I thought there were bullets. Now if you are caught in the lie, make up a new one. Keep on changing the story and perhaps the people will eventually believe you. Obviously many do believe and are voting for the Clinton’s. There have been way too many lies by their campaign.
2)If telling lies is the way you work to become elected, how can we know that anything you say is the truth? Who wants to vote for someone for President, when you know that their method of being ready and being a fighter is to lie?

Posted by: Pat | April 11, 2008, 11:00 am 11:00 am

So in summary, Bill lied to try to excuse Hillary’s lies.
I’m not surprised. They are both compulsive liars. I don’t trust a single thing either one of them says.
I regret voting for him. And you can be darned sure I won’t vote for her.

Dear ex-President Bill Clinton;
Just because Hillary’s lies are smaller lies than the one you told while under oath does not mean the are not still lies.
The Clinton credo seems to be:
“Lie every chance you get no matter what the question.”
Please do us all a favor and call ex-President Carter and ask if needs a companion to go with him when he visits the terrorist group Hamas. Then ask to stay awhile, say, 10 years maybe.

Posted by: hrdguera | April 11, 2008, 11:21 am 11:21 am

Hillary lies. Bill lies. Their mantra is “lie often enough and loud enough and eventually people will believe it”.
Remember 9/11?? There was Hillary in front of the cameras gushing about how Chelsea was jogging a block away and almost was a victim!! GASP! How terrible! How stunning! How much COMPLETE BS! Chelsea was in NY, but thats about as close as she go to being in danger. Grandstanding, heart-tugging, completely FALSIFIED BS.
The Clintons will say ANYTHING to get attention. It’s all “LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!” Their mommies must have not given them enough hugs or something as children.
They are nothing but pathalogical liars.

She didn’t rob a bank unless you count the phony cattle futures robbery she got away with. (Remember how 1k turned her 100k in a couple of weeks?) But outside of that, she still has some splaining to do about Vince Foster. NOthing is coincidental with the Clintons!

If “sleep-deprived” Hillary can’t think straight during a mid-morning talk, then she’s no 3 a.m. wunderkind.
In 1993 she promised us a national health care plan in 100 days. We’re still waiting.
Maybe she did take a bullet to the noggin in Bosnia — that would explain a lot. Still no excuse for “First Philanderer” wannabee Bill, though.

Apparently she cares because she brought this story out. She lied about it and now her husband is lying about it and because I cannot understand how someone supporting her can rationalize his/her comments, something is wrong with me? THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Bill’s line (“You woulda thought, you know, that she’d robbed a bank the way they carried on about this”), in the context of his wife’s Bosnian lie, is interesting. That he would equate the reaction to her lie with stealing money suggests to me that he’s actually attemting to deflect attention away from their $110 million post-WH income and his earning $800,000 to support Columbian trade–their having robbed the public’s bank.

People keep complaining about the fact that we voted in presidents like Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Seriously, what choice were we given?
This campaign is absolutely ridiculous. Every single candidate of note is…not noteworthy other than the three left. These are all noteworthy for the wrong reasons. Obama and his total lack of real experience doing anything but running for office. McCain with his history of temper tantrums (oh yeah, give him the red button). Hillary, who is tied for being the most divisive figure in American political history (with George W. Bush).
The system is already totally broken. There is no way to fix it. It has been bought by Big Oil, Pharmaceuticals, and Defense Contractors. And these people are their puppets. We are doomed.

I am sick to death of people bringing up the economy under the Clinton administration. Would someone please point at something that Slick Willie did while president that directly influenced that booming economy? Yes things were good back then, but the Clinton administration had NOTHING to do with it! It was simply a period of economic prosperity that happened to coincide with the time that he was in office. Bill and Hillary: Stop taking credit for something that happened under your watch that you didn’t actually directly influence.

Posted by: Shawn | April 11, 2008, 12:05 pm 12:05 pm

2 things:
1. The only candidate that I know of who isn’t puffing up his/her resume is John McCain. Both Hillary and Barrack have had issues with integrity in this area. McCain has not.
2. If racism and sexism are taboo, shouldn’t age-ism be, also? Why is McCain fair game in this era of political correctness? If the Dave Letterman-style comments were applied to either Barrack or Hillary, there would be hell to pay.
(I am NOT an enthusiastic supporter of McCain – just trying to look at these 3 candidates objectively, and he seems to be the only one capable of telling the truth, admitting mistakes, and taking responsibility.)

Bill Clinton has always been very good at applying the following two principles:
1) The man who speaks the loudest is the one who will be heard, regardless if he’s right or wrong.
2) If you lie consistantly, and repeat the same lie over and over again, there are people who will always believe you.
He’s done it his entire life. Why should he stop now ?

There are a few things you remember. You remember the first time you made love. You remember when you drove your Dad’s car into that bridge and creamed it. You remember the first time you jumped out of an airplane, and you remember getting shot at. You remember the sounds and the smell and the taste of fear welling in the back of your throat. The memory is do intense you relive flashbacks. You suffer from PTSD. You may spend years reliving it and recovering from it. It is an intense personal experience.
You don’t stand up before a crowd and relive something like that with jokes and giggles. If you do you are either so crazy as to be certifiable or you are just a plain old liar. One other thing you don’t do. You don’t say you misspoke. You don’t pretend you just mixed it up with all the other times you were “shot at”
What’s really troubling is she expects us to buy into this delusion and give her a pass and Bill expects us to do the same thing. When we won’t adopt the delusion lock stock and barrel we catch doo doo from old Bulbous nose (man that guy looks like he’s been rode hard and put away wet) for not buying into the delusion.
So tell me about the last time you were shot at. Pretend you are Hillary standing in front of a crowd and tell me what it was like. Then look in the mirror and see if it doesn’t make you feel psychotic. Do we really want this for a president? Gore invented the internet and this babe leaps tall buildings in a single bound, cork screws into the ground and keeps her head down as the bullets rain in. Just sign me ex-Navy Doc

A. Where did he get 11PM?
B. Even worse, he’s chalking it up to a senile forgetfulness caused by a senior moment! Apparently, they’re both either senile or their liars. That should be useful at 3AM.

This is comical. According to Bill she misstated the circumstances because she was exhausted at 11 o’clock at night. Yet her own campaign adds tout that she is the one that we need answering the phone at 3 o’clock in morning. I can only imagine the misstatements that would come out of her mouth at that time of the day if she was so exhausted at 11.

What is really interesting is how Hillary has stated numerous times that President Bush mislead Congress about WMD’s in Iraq. I do not disagree with her, but I do fault her for not reading the intelligence before being briefed. Had she, then perhaps she could have asked some revealing questions.
Then, you have her insulting General Petreaus with her “willing suspension of disbelief” comment, which I absolutely disagreed with her on.
It just seems that if you are going to accuse other people of lying, which has caused our country’s problems, then you should not be a liar when running for president.
Hillary Clinton has shown not only that is she a liar, (and certainly not as good as her husband), but she is also a hypocrit.

I asked my young son what he wanted to do when he is ready to start working. He says “I want to give million-dollar speeches”. Who would be stupid enough to pay 7-figure sums for a Bill Clinton speech?
Hell, even when I see him speaking on local TV, I flip the channel. What could I possibly learn from this dude? If he wrote a book entitled “Diary of Con Man” … now THAT would be an interesting read. Still, I would not rush out to buy it until I heard reviews from credible sources. The notion that these silverware-stealing flim-flammers should reside in the White House is a bad joke. As for the oil companies, Obama has received plenty from oil company zillionaires according to what I have read. The belief that all his contributions come from small supporters is absolutely not correct.’
Hillary was never threatened or felt threatened on that trip and the average donation to Obama’s campaign is 106 dollars. Get your facts straight.

The people who are constantly nit picking about every word said and what they mean and how it was phrased and if they got the year wrong and if only part of it was right and if we go back twenty years and look at some video and see what that shows and some unnamed source said such and such and the media printed it so it must be true……
You people will get what you deserve, someone who is hand picked by the media and will not be the best leader for the country. Try looking at the track record of the candidates, look at what they do and not what they say. Clinton was a very popular president for the democrats old enough to remember, probably the best president we have had since Truman. Talk is cheap and so is gossip journalism…

Credit for the economic boom of the nineties? It was the now discredited dot-com bubble, now discredited.
Hillary’s involvent at any level other than ceremonial (and failed healthcare)? Whoops.
Remaining low-profile was his best strategy. The last 12 months has been devestating to his legacy, image and the Clinton brand.
In the era of blogs, internet and transparency, the Clinton deceptions are so very easy to spot.

And to think I used to give online small contributions during the last campaign, I am ABSOLUTELY fed up with what’s happening right now.
I look at McCain and can’t stand to think he has a more than a decent chance at the White House, but he does, and it’s all because the party can’t get it together.

Hillary Clinton will do better in Pennsylvania if she is viewed as being attacked or picked on by the media. She already appeals to middle aged and elderly women, so Bill may be attempting to redirect the Bosnia lie/misspoke issue away from what Hillary said and pulling attention toward a more “poor Hillary” slant. When the press asked Hillary why she was viewed as less likable than Obama and she showed emotion, women in NH sympathized with her and voted for her. If Bill’s redirect strikes an emotional chord with women and men who have faced belittlement and trials, his words may end up being very effective in the PA primary. You can say they’re just adding more lies to the situation, but that’s not relevant if his words cause undecided voters to vote for Hillary because they perceive her as being picked on for making a mistake. Don’t forget, most people voting in PA are not reading these online discussions, they’re just reading or hearing what Bill says in the papers or on the news.

Posted by: sunshine484848 | April 11, 2008, 2:35 pm 2:35 pm

Both Bill and Hillary are lying. How do you “misspeak” and entire event? Getting a detail of what happened wrong is one thing but her account of the situation was completely fabricated. What did she wake up a week later and say, “Ohhhh yeah….that didn’t happen. I must have mixed it up with that other sniper fire incident.” Are we expected to believe she was somehow under fire so often she mixes them up?
What amazes me is that she thought she could get away with making something like that up. That shows either incredibly poor judgement or a habbit of deception.
As to the way the media beat her up? Clinton has been the darling of the liberal press ever since she made the national scene and she doesn’t know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of their bias when they support someone else. Perhaps she should get with some of the former Republican candidates for congress and ask them for lessons on how to manage it. Maybe it’s a vast left wing conspiracy?

Posted by: James H | April 11, 2008, 2:45 pm 2:45 pm

You know Slick, for once I agree with you. She didn’t rob a bank. She only lied to the voters. By the way, for those truth-challenged Clintons, “misspeak” is saying 11 p.m. when you mean to say 11 a.m. Retelling an experience that never happened in scripted remarks during three separate events is called lying. I know that word probably doesn’t register with the HillBillies but do yourself a favor, go look it up.

Count me among those who think Bill is hurting his wife even further by mentioning this. I’m an Obama supporter, but I’m shocked at the sort of vitriol I see slung back and forth between Clinton and Obama supporters. It’s time to lay off the character assassinations and take a breather. Clinton will not win; Obama will run against McCain in the fall. Obama will be a great candidate and the Clintons will eventually support them. No matter what the Clintons may have done to the party (or to their reputations), we need all the democrats to unite so that we’re not beat-down with a McCain presidency.

Bill said his wife is being treated like a bank robber.
Truth: He is dating a chick named Robin Banks.

Newt, you are right! Do not think Bill lied by accident. Their dishonesty has already proven to be very rewarding to them. Bill made those comments in an effort to effect future votes. It does not matter to them what the rest of us think.

You are all wrong. What is said, what happens; well, it just really doesn’t matter. We will be the donkeys to their saddles and they’ll ride us to the barn so they can take all we have, and give it away to anything un-american. Canada doesn’t look too bad right now.

Then he has to subtly mention “it’s like saying Obama, saying, well I don’t go out stealing cars, do I?”.
Problem with Bill Clinton? I don’t care who believes this, but in the 90′, it was a concern regarding his ‘cocaine’ use. Not Roger Clinton’s use, Bill’s use. This is what I think is happening and I wouldn’t put it passed him to still be getting his ‘high’ out there on the trail. This definitly would account for his ‘accelerated verbal assault’s on people and change of mood. Not that I even care. But, he wasn’t “Worthy” of being President the 1st time, he certainly isn’t qualified to be 1st boy this time.

Wait…so, in your blog you write out Bill’s quote like this: “what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995.” Then later in your blog you criticize Bill for saying that Hills went to Bosnia in 1996 rather than in 1995. I’m confused, are you saying he said 1996 another time?

I think Bill hates his wife and is trying to get her to lose with comments he made about African Americans in the North Carolina primary and the several times he has dragged out old baggage that makes her look bad long after it had dropped out of the news.

The whole premise of this article is silly. People don’t have photographic memories and they don’t recount events from 12 years ago or even 12 days ago with anything close to precision.
What is the enormous distinction between saying you misspoke and apologizing? What does it even matter?
The microscopic analysis of every word uttered by anyone connected to the Clinton campaign, while Obama’s inconsistencies and downright foolish statements are ignored, is ridiculous.
I’d like to hear the press ask Barack Obama: Do you really think a few foreign trips, a layover in London, having a friend who’s an immigrant, and living in Indonesia for a few years as a little kid makes you a foreign policy expert? While you sneer at and belittle Hillary Clinton’s 80 overseas trips, where have you been? Were you ever anywhere near war zone, Senator?

I second what Norman said last night @11:26 PM about “that lyin’ excuse for a human.” Since February I have surprised friends and acquaintances when I tell them if the election were between Hillary and Bush I would vote for Bush. I am a progressive who despises Bush, but would rather have a Repub get elected than badly damage the Democratic Party going forward. The Democrats deserve much better. I think that Obama is going to pleasantly surprise a lot of people.
I have had more than enough of the pathological liars that the Clintons are. I campaigned for Bill in 1992, but have been disgusted since concerning the conduct of Bill and Hillary.
Hillary’s shameless lies (on par with Bush) make her unfit to be president as well as senator. Do some research and learn how incompetent she has been as senator. On the Armed Services Committee she didn’t understand the oversight that Blackwater was subject to in Iraq, despite attending hearings on the matter. From the time she was in the White House to today, she has little to show for, except the con job she has pulled on the American people for taking credit for things she had nothing to do with.
Here’s a sneak preview as to how successful Hillary would be as president: She would run the country about as well…as she runs her campaign.

Sometimes it takes a Clinton to attempt to unring bells that the other Clinton has rung. I used to think that Bill was an amaziing politician with a brilliant mind. WHat in the world was he thinking. This is one of the most insane lies that he ever concocted, and it has surely backfired. Apparently he thinks that lies will not be exposed if he just keeps moving ahead. Bill, please go back to being a dignified ex-President instead of a down and dirty “Carville styke hack.

Hillary will loose and it’s all Bills fault.

While most think the constant patterns of lying is insignificant, it speaks clearly to the candidate’s credibility or the lack thereof. Of course we are expected to forget… The lies about Bosnia (sniper fire) that husband Bill brought back. She embellished the hospital story in which both mother and infant dies. She distanced herself from Mark Penn who was actively pushing to expand NAFTA into South America, but she is opposed to it. Now he’s demoted, not fired. She praised NAFTA saying it was a good thing… Clinton is insulting the American’s intellegence. Honest? or Dishonest? You make the call!

Bill, Hillary, OBama who cares they are all the same LIARS. I think if you read the comments above it becomes clear that even the people who voted for Slick willy are sick of them and all their crap. It is funny it took liberal democrats how long to figure these two out and everything Rush said about the two of them and their democratic /Socialist/ Marxist way of thinking is now out in the open and people no longer rally around them but call them what they are. The real question is why can’t they see that as Hillary hasn’t changed Obama is jsut more of the same with his LIE after LIE mindset. He really is in touch with the general public of middle class America when he makes such stupid statements as he made last week. But the reality is that is the real candidate just as stupid senator from ILL. who has a lot to learn about politics in general and more so when it comes to world politics of which he knows little to nothing. I say Vote for experience and honest and McCain is the closest to it you are going to get in this election.

Bill Clinton campaigned for Joe Lieberman in the Connecticut U.S. Senate race against challenger Ned Lamont in 2006.
Lamont won the democratic run off election as the democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. The Republicans returned Liberman to the senate!
