Clinton Again Compares Obama to Bush

ABC News’ Eloise Harper reports: Speaking in Eugene, Ore., Sen. Hillary Clinton went further than she has before drawing a comparison between Sen. Barack Obama and President Bush, saying he gave a lot of "speeches" too, but lacked "specifics."

"Some of you might may remember that President Bush in 2000 ran as a compassionate conservative. It sounded great. Who could argue with that?" she said. "I never knew what it meant. He sure didn’t enlighten us about what it meant. But he gave a lot of speeches about how he was going to be a compassionate conservative. Well, because we didn’t have the specifics to tie him down because we didn’t say ‘What exactly does that mean?’ It turns out he was neither compassionate nor conservative. He was uncompassionate and radical."

When Clinton was asked about her Iraq war vote, she defended herself by saying that she was critical of the war before Obama was, and that she was the one who made a decision.

"When you want to compare, compare decisions, so when Sen. Obama came to the Senate he and I have voted exactly the same except for one vote. And that happens to be the facts," she said. "We both voted against early deadlines. I actually starting criticizing the war in Iraq before he did. So I’m well aware that his entire campaign is premised on a speech he made in 2002 and I give him credit for making that speech, but that was not a decision. And I think it is fair to say as he said in 2004 he wasn’t sure how he would have actually voted had he had to cast a vote. I think we ought to be as fair and accurate in comparing apples to apples about various records and decisions."

In what may be a sign of the wear and tear the campaign is taking on Clinton, it appears as though she is not getting much sleep. She said she is averaging about three hours a night.

"I wouldn’t be getting up at 5 a.m. and going to bed at 2 a.m. if I didn’t believe I would be the better candidate to beat John McCain," Clinton said to a cheering crowd.

Very desperate woman indeed!
No doubt both bush and Hilary wish they could give as good a speech as Obama

I agreed with Hillary’s comparison, this year like with Bush in 200o or the war in Iraq the press and media has giving us a disservice, back then the target was Gore and with the war they were scared to ask question, now the target is the Clintons and they are scared of asking Obama the hard questions, they don’t want to be seen like racist.
99% of the coverage on Clinton are their mistakes and flops; while only get is the positive coverage on Obama.
Shame!

Seems that Hillary gave a lot of speeches too, and where is she at? Behind Obama.

With the rhetoric dialing down a little bit of late, I’d hoped this kind of bull pucky was over. However, it is clear that in her desperation, Hillabeans will do just about everything.
Comparing ANY Democrat to Bush is sacriligious! I hope the thinking voters will agree!
Obama 2008 — Yes, WE CAN!!!

She absolutly right. No one is asking who Barack is. But here is some insight into who he associates with. Remember his shady house deal? Rezko, who was bankrupt at the time, had his wife purchase the lot next door even though she didn’t have the income to support such a transaction. So where did the money come from and why on earth would Barack purchase something he couldn’t afford? Why would we want him as the steward of our economy? And who does he associate with. Here’s a clue….
Several US political fundraisers are currently on trial for corruption in connection with loans received from Auchi. Auchi is currently barred from entering the US.
Nadhmi Auchi was viewed with a lot of suspicion by the Iraqi opposition to Saddam Hussein’s regime, regarding him as a front-man for Saddam’s intelligence service.[4] Auchi was involved in several multi-billion dollar business deals in the post-Saddam era too, such as the Orascom mobile phone network (IraqNa), and at least one power generation contract involving Chicago-based tycoon Antoin Rezko and Iraq’s former Minister of Electricity, Aiham Alsamarrae, who has been convicted over corruption charges in Iraq and is now living in Chicago.
There’s your change you can believe in…..Wright.

I think that Hillary is throwing away everything. If she can’t be President then she doesn’t want to be anything. Certainly the VP spot is out, and likely she will not complete her term in the Senate

Is she saying that Obama is tryin to inherit the presidency like the previous guy?

Posted by: The Commander Guy | April 5, 2008, 8:18 pm 8:18 pm

Hillary is right on!!! If obama was truely against the war he would not vote to fund it period. Plus his uniter not a divider speech, thats classic Bush speech, seems to be working for obama. See the trend? He lacks the experience, the judgement. If Hillary voted no on the war N.Y. would have been real pissed. They seem to agree with her, she won her state. Now everyone knows the truth on the war, she is going to fix it.

And another story she speaks of is discredited – the story of the poor, pregant woman who was turned away…another lie – like running from the snipers!
Just like the stories she will be telling if she gets elected, no doubt!
And now she is comparing herself to him, gasp! But if he isn’t good enough then why do that?
And still trying to switch the delegates votes, and get the rule breaker states to get their voices heard. In my world, everyone is a winner, there will be no losers!
Give it up HRC, you are looking more and more like the person who will do anything to get elected.

Obama is even worst than Bush.
Bush was at least the successful Governor of Texas. Bush had more credentials befitting that of the President of the United States.
Noone will ever question the patriotism of George Bush.
Noone will ever question the patriotism of Laura Bush …
Obama is far worst than Bush ..

Does it not bother you that rather than talk policies and how this economy will be turned around, we are here smearing people? Does it not bother you that in february we lost 65,000 jobs and forfeited 80,000 jobs in March? does it not bother you that people are loosing their homes and the economy is going into a recession? In what way will Obama bashing and Clinton smearing help… We spend hours and days bashing these people and yet after that these issues are still there. I think what we ought to do in these blogs is look into the policies of these people, do the research and then make a decision to support a candidate.
Oh!!! btw: I am an informed conservative republican. I don’t follow the MSM or talk show hosts hook, line and sinking.

We know this much about Obama: He started running for President before his first Senate term was finished. He has had a 17-year relationship with Rezko whose trial has yet to be completed. He has written untruths in his books about when and how his mother and father married. He was untruthful when he tried to drammatize how his father came to this country with help from John Kennedy. He plaigiarized “his” famous “words” speech, a speech already given by Deval Patrick. He has lied about the sources of his campaign money. He had a shady deal with Rezko and his wife to buy his home and adjacent property, and continues to lie about it. He has had a 20-year relationship with his pastor, friend, and spiritual advisor who has thousands of words with ranting and raving hatred sermons condemning America and “damning” America. That is just the surface. He had a lot of audacity to run when he had so little experience, but, we know that people like Kerry and Kennedy urged him to run. They think that the American voter will follow their lead. Not this time. We have seen a great lack of wisdom and experience in his words and decisions. We have seen too much double talk in the debates, his speeches, and his decisions.
Without the news media living up to good journalistic ethics, while blasting Hillary Clinton at every turn, we appear to find most of what we know about him by accident. If only he had not resorted to the Republican playbook in one of the first debates with Hillary and Edwards by saying Hillary was “untrustworthy”, he might have appeared to be an honest person. His call for change and unity and bringing everyone together are just soundbites. That much we know, and he has cooked his own goose.

Sorry? Standing up in 2002 against the Iraq war is, for a state senator, not a decision?
Hillary was ‘critical’ of the war before Obama was? Is that why she supported the idea of a military “SOLUTION” for the conflict with Iraq in the Senate even before she handed Gaorge W. Bush the right to invade and occupy the country?
Do we want a President who lives in a topsy turvy world?
In that 2002 speech Obama said, among many other things:
“I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.”
Isn’t that a proof of sound judgment on day 1?
From that same speech:
“You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.”
And it ain’t a decision, to stand up and tell the President this in a publiced speech?
I feel Hillary is losing some mental sanity, and all what was left of her sincerity and good manners. And her supporters simply think ‘she’s right’ again. My o my. Well, her fellow Senators certainly do not, for they admire Obama for having had the courage to speak out when they failed to do the same.

SHE IS SAYING THIS…
Wake up all you fools who are following Obama so blindly! This is the same BS that happened in 2000 and then 2004 – a bunch of idiots choosing a president on likability and who they would rather have a beer with rather than selecting a president with ideas, solutions and experience to run this country. I thought after almost 8 years of Bush Americans would be smarter. If Obama is nominated he WILL NOT win the general election and we will again have a republican running the white house. If he is lucky enough to win the nomination and the general he will flounder around not knowing how to get anything done (look at his track record) and the republicans will ambush him repetitively and not one promise made by him will be delivered upon.
My only complaint with Clinton making this comparison is that she didn’t make it earlier.

Many Americans were against the war back in 2002 and with a similar reasoning and logic like Sen Obama did. Should we get all of them into the White House? Most democrats hold the same principal when it comes to our foreign policies, which is engaging in dialogue rather than constantly demonstrating our hegemonic power. And most believe that both of them would govern by this principal. However, Sen Obama has shown weaknesses in substance. Sen Clinton’s attack is right on target.

Hillary never gave up on the voters in flo. and mich. If she did, she would have taken her name off the ballets. they agreed not to campaign in those states, which meant those states would lose money from them campaigning. On election night all the media said was these votes could still count if this race is close. Bosnia, that was not good. How about Obama on the media questionaire he claims he never filled out in 96 and now they have proof he did fill it out and now he is claiming still he didn’t do it? Seems the media isn’t hitting this very much.

Posted by: D | April 5, 2008, 9:29 pm 9:29 pm

I’d say that Senator Obama’s voting behavior during the war is a sound indication that he has been as concerned about American soldiers doing the dirty job in Bush’s war as any American patriot, and that his speech against waging the Iraq war was not some sentimental anti-war stand from some pacifist idealist.
“I don’t oppose all wars,” he repeated a few times in that speech. And he clearly saw that since the USA was trapped in the dirty guerilla fights in Iraq, our people and army over there would need all possible means to overcome that extremely hazardous and unfortunate situation.
A situation they never would have been in (and 4000 American lives that would not have been lost) when it had been Obama who as a President had started our war against the Islamic terrorists who want to kill as many Americans as possible.
Thanks to Bush, Clinton, McCain and others they killed 4000 since they killed 3000 on 9/11. THAT is the major and most telling part of Clinton’s ‘experience’. She should be ashamed about playing word games with all this.

And what about her specifics regarding the sniper fire and now the poor woman and her baby who died in the hospital… all false and bogus information. Unfortunatley for us, Hillary cannot be trusted. She would have made an o.k. VP, but her specifics are copied from Barack and her lies are outrageous. That hospital she’s been lying about is angry, the Bosnian people are angry… Some “solution” she would make as President! It’s not fair to compare Obama to Bush, saying that Obama like Bush is a compassionate conservative. Senator’s Clinton’s comparison is correct in several aspects.
George W. Bush has lied without reservation to the American people on many occassions and continues to do so.
Barack Obama has lied without reservation to the the American people on many occassions and continues to do so.
Regardless of what any other politician is saying or doing, both Bush and Obama lack the ability to be truthful.
Also, Barack Obama heralds his speech opposing the war while he was still a state senator.
As a U.S. Senator, Obama has had numerous opportunities to vote against the war and did not–if he was there to vote.
Comparing Obama’s willingness to mislead and lie to that of George W. Bush is entirely appropriate.

Fellow Hillary supporters, it’s time to get behind her rival, Senator Barack Obama.
The exposure of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.’s outrageous and divisive remarks has injected the raw emotions associated with race relations into the presidential campaign. This new dynamic raises the stakes in an already high-stakes race. Our responsibility as progressive-minded voters is to show Americans a positive alternative to the toxic politics of race. Rallying around Obama now increases our chances of doing just that. Obama has run a positive and inspiring campaign, and has attracted a majority of pledged delegates. It is hard to envision a scenario in which Democratic superdelegates override the will of millions of primary voters and caucus participants. Obama will be the nominee.
Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Wright presents Republicans with a polarizing wedge issue to exploit with general election voters. This approach not only risks an Obama loss in November – denying us a fresh, capable leader – but it would set the country back in its racial reconciliation process. Americain 2008 should be better than that.
As we have done at many key junctures in our nation’s history, Democrats and other progressive-minded voters must lead the way. The current firestorm is an opportunity to move beyond the anger and resentment that have characterized our nation’s dialogue on race. By throwing our enthusiastic support behind Obama now, voters of all political stripes can echo the candidate’s refrain, “Not this time.”
There have been many moments in our history when we failed to heed that call. Twenty years ago, as a staffer of Governor Michael Dukakis’s presidential campaign, I observed the use of the now-famous “Willie Horton” ad to undermine a good man’s character, fan the flames of racial division and distract voters from the most important issues of the time.
Not this time. We have an opportunity to show that we have learned from our mistakes. The first step, which Obama took in his recent speech on race, was to condemn Wright’s offensive rhetoric.
The second step is in our hands: Strengthen Obama as the Democratic nominee by uniting behind him now. Amplify his postpartisan message to American voters. Families in Pennsylvania, like those across America, are feeling insecure about their jobs, healthcare, their children’s education, and the safety of the nation. They want leaders to be bold and practical in addressing our most serious challenges, and to work across party lines to achieve results. Obama promises to do that.
Those of us who have supported Clinton and continue to believe that she would be an excellent president can play an important part in moving our nation forward by supporting Obama. We can spread the word that he offers the right leadership for these challenging times.
Our support would send a powerful message that the United States is headed in a new direction – on race relations, certainly, but perhaps most importantly, on what it means to be an American.

Absolutely! Hillary was the one to make the decision to vote fo the war in Iraq and what a decision it was. We have 4000+ of our honored men and women in uniform in coffins thanks to that wise decision.

If the Republicans who did not like George Bush in 2000 had voted Democrat instead of sticking with their party do or die, we would not have had George Bush for President. Perhaps the Hillary people are smarter and will save the country from Obama if he is the nominee.

Do you really think Hillary was the only Dem to vote for the war initiative? What about Dodd, Edwards, Kerry, Rockefeller, Biden etc etc
28 Democratic senators also voted for it not just Hillary. 4 of the the guys above also were contenders for the Dem nomination for President. They made a bad judgment in 2004 and they made another one when they decided to support Obama. Some people never learn.

Bush, Cheney, and Obama are all cousins. All were silver spoon babies. All went to elite private schools and ivy league universities. All had wealthy parents (do the research on Obama’s fathers and grandparents as well as his mother). Clinton was raised in a middle class family, worked hard to advance in a male dominated field, and still took the time over the years to be a human rights activist and donated the same amount of money to charity that she made from her books. Clinton backs her words with substantive plans and can discuss them in such detail and command of the issues that it is clear she wrote the plans. Obama talks and talks about hope and can only parrot Clinton’s plans and those he got from former candidates. Obama voted to support Cheney’s bill for energy companies while Clinton voted against it. Bush’s wealth is directly related to energy companies and Obama is a large recipient of monies from law firms and management of energy companies. Her comparison to Bush and Cheney is valid on several points.
McCain’s wife is worth 100 mill. Clinton’s husband is worth 100 mill. Obama’s wife received a raise and promotion from 121K to 316K after Obama pushed through funding to her employer. She has been on leave of absence still drawing that salary so that she can campaign with him. At least Clinton and McCain have spouses with legitimate wealth while Obama’s spouses source of increasing wealth appears questionable from an ethics perspective. The same is true for Obama with his purchase of shares in a biotech company just before he pushed through legislation that increased the stock value of that same biotech firm. When a bill was proposed to prohibit Senators from working other jobs while they are US Senators, Obama voted against it because that would mean he could not write his books that were in progress at the time. Look beyond the MSM hype and you will find the real information about all the candidates. There is no doubt the RNC will be making the information more public for the GE race. Clinton’s negatives are well known. Obama’s negatives are being played down by the MSM for now. If Obama gets the nom, the RNC will eat him for lunch.

What a lie you have bought into. Obama begins his story, “I was born to a single mother…” (which is a lie) because he knows we will make the leap and picture another poor black child of poverty. The truth (from his books) is that after his father left when he was 2, he was raised lovingly and comfortably by his mother and two grandparents in an upper class white neighborhood. He went to an elite private high school and then on to the Ivy Leagues. He has never known the problems of poor people, let alone the middle class. Hillary Clinton was raised in much less privileged circumstances than Obama, and the Clintons have made their money after Pres. Clinton left the White House. They have given their lives to helping the underprivileged and continue to do so through the Clinton Foundation.

Hi!!!!!this election is frustrating due to the media making it as such. Obama only cares about one thing. Becoming president. All his words are just talk. they mean nothing. Obama understands poverty? Give me a break. The Obamas made over 1 million last year. I guess thats poverty striken. Hillary or McCain would get things done the first day in office. It would take obama months to find the oval office. Who will answer the phone at 3:00 AM. Michelle Obama? As for the guy that threw the barricade thru Barracks campaign office. Whats next.
this guy is frustrated. Dont forget to vote on April 22. Polls are open 7:00am__8:pm. Thats the best place to voice our opinion.

We are losing to many jobs already, a lot of businesses are already suffering and about to fire a lot of people. Help us the rest of the USA to keep our jobs, homes, food and our sanity. Inexperience is an obstacle, speeches are forgotten. Spare all of us of real hard times.

If the media would give Hillary an equal playing field, stop making mountains out of mole hills over little nothings, examine the negatives of Obama and McCain, Hillary would run away with this election. People think they are making decisions…actually they are being pulled around by the nose by a media which is intent on fixing this race. Next, if Obama is the nominee, he is going to be the recipient of the negative press because the media, owned by corporations, will see to it.

Obama was quoted as saying in the Chicago Tribune, when he was getting ready to run for Senate, that his stance on the war in Iraq was very similar to that of George W Bush.
He has also voted for 300 Billion Dollars in war spending since being in the Senate.
He also has no withdrawal date, and he has said he intends to add 100,000 more troops to the military.
This doesn’t sound like a man who is against war.
It sounds like a man who speaks out of both sides of his mouth.
All he has to say to you Obama supporters is a bunch of rhetoric and you believe him, never once checking to see if it is the truth or not.
Who really is the fools here?
Let’s not forget he also voted for Daddy Cheney’s energy bill that was written in private behind closed doors.
Oil company’s with crappy environmental and human rights records not to mention illegal dealings is contributors to his campaign.
And then we have Exelon, the nuclear plant that leaked waste into the ground water in Illinois. While Obama was supposed to be sending a bill through congress to protect the people from polluters like Exelon, he was taking campaign money from them to the tune of 250,000.00. Also two of his leading campaign fund raisers are Execs of Exelon. And the bill for the people has still not passed into law and has been so watered down by Obama, it isn’t even worth the paper it is written on.
No wonder Obama thinks Nuclear Energy is Green. 250,000.00 in Green is a lot of Green.
Obama supporters are going to be suprised when they vote in Bush lite with all the after taste!!

So, she knows she’s up against it! U can have all the homework done in the world, but if you haven’t worked on electability and clearly she hadn’t given Obama’s walkovers in the Caucuses! So, if Obama wins, its to do with his style and his machine and no doubt the hate factor against the Clintons!

Hillary speaks truth to power. Like Bush, Obama is an empty suit. Good speech; no substance. He changes his name to suit his aspirations, picks his church to advance his career, then doesn’t have the cahones to confront a man who preaches hate against the very nation he say he is ready to unite.
That’s a man trying to fill the suit, not a man that it fits. He is a little boy trying to meet the girl at the dance by pretending to be the captain of the football team when he has yet to make a single score.
“Be what you is because if you be what you ain’t then you ain’t what you is.”
If he gets the nod, we get the shaft.

Obama is far worse than Bush, so it is not fair to compare them.
Bush is loyal to this country only, obama is not.
Bush has Patriotism, Obama does not.
Bush Stands what he beleives in, Obama does not.
Bush does not lie on friends and family, Obama does.
Bush does not flip-flop on every issue, bill or problem, Obama does.
Bush does not blame everyone else for everything, Obama does.
Bush does not stand by anyone who condemns or God damns America, Obama does.
Bush has a more than a general idea of goverment and foriegn relations, Obama does not.
Bush Does not let his religion generate and affect his decisons, Obama does.
Bush does not cry and whine and say woe is me, Obama does all the time.
Other things about them are the same, but looks like Bush is better than obama.
The older cousin is wiser.
A vote for America is a Vote against Obama

Is Hillary in the twilight zone or something? Why can’t she be honest for once?
Obama was critical of the Iraq war since October 2002 while Hillary voted for the war.
I would rather Hillary just be honest and say I voted for the authorization of war which I regret and this is what I plan on doing to get us out of Iraq.
Telling lies doesn’t help her case.

Obama has loyal propoganda agents on the blogs though… they even portray themselves as republicans… they’ll do anything to get their man elected…

Hillary’s comparison to Bush is interesting….One comparison is certain …Obama is more polarizing and divisive than George Bush ever was

56% of Dems say they will not vote for Obama if he is the nominee……56%! Talk about winning the battle and losing the war….

@Phillydemocrat,
Too bad… the problems with most of us republicans is that we depend on Rush, Shawn, Fox and the rest for our information. I do my own research and make up my own mind on issues. I don’t depend on the MSM and that is why I am an **informed** not by the MSM, but by personal research and I think every American should do the same, ‘cos the MSM tends to shape our views and opinions.

Posted by: Ton | April 6, 2008, 8:36 am 8:36 am

@ SadStateOfAffairs,
That is the problem…. we don’t check out the facts or do the research, we depend on the polls, MSM and the rest to shape our views and opinions. In this info. age, I think the best thing for us to do is to do the research and then make our decisions. The leg-walk is hard, but at the end you are well informed and can readily make a sound decision.

Posted by: Ton | April 6, 2008, 8:41 am 8:41 am

I find it ironic that Clinton uses her criticism of Obama being all words as a cover for not having to talk about her plans, and, hence by her own argument, being like George Bush.
As for Hillary’s argument on the war, well one thing that Obama’s 2002 speech made clear was that he was against the war not just because WMDs hadn’t been found or whatever, but because it was an illegal and dangerously badly conceived war. Hillary has never apologised for her decision to back Bush on the war, and never denounced it as strongly as Obama has. He stood up to the President, even when it might hold back his career, she stood with the President precisely so it didn’t torpedo her career. He should courage and leadership, she failed to. She hasn’t even said that she regrets that decision.

@Tony,
I see you are talking of Hillary ’12 already… Interesting.
I think Obama will win the nomination and unite the party. It is disheartening though, that Hillary supporters are willing to vote for a republican instead of a democrat. Which tells me a lot about the thinking pattern of my fellow Americans. Are we voting for an individual or the policies and solutions the person is bringing to the table. I am a conservative republican, but I am voting for a democrat based on the proposed policies and solutions, although I don’t agree with all of them, but I agree with most of them. But then some democrats are saying they will not vote for the other because that person is not their candidate of choice. This is hilarious and goes a long way in explaining why the democrats are in such a dead-lock. When are we going to look at policies and forget individuals? Are these democrats not bothered that the economy is heading towards a recession, jobs are being lost daily, home foreclosures are on the rise, etc… C’mon, dems wise-up and let’s get this thing going… the earlier the better….

Posted by: Ton | April 6, 2008, 9:07 am 9:07 am

Ton,
That is exactly Hillary’s point. Barack is a divider, not a uniter. You will never, and I mean never, convince Hillary supporters to back Barack simply because he’s in the Democratic party. The guy is a fake, a fraud, a mirage, a fabricated, america hating, opportunist.

Posted by: SadStateOfAffairs | April 6, 2008, 9:15 am 9:15 am

@SadStateOfAffairs,
Again SadStateOfAffairs, this is not an Obama problem, this is the problem of the DNC. I am not a democrat, so I might come short here. However, the last time I checked, Obama has said he will follow the DNC rules, so trying to make this whole thing a gender issue, undermines what is at stake here. Back in January, I heard Hillary saying Michigan and Florida won’t count and now she is all flared up using her surrogates, ‘cos she is lagging in delegate count. This is the problem w/ the democratic party. You make rules and then you break it in the middle. The presidency is not the right of any single person and definitely not the Clintons. We have problems to solve in this country and I don’t care who the person is, I just need clear solutions and path to solutions and Hillary is not the person (see my earlier posts on this blog for the reason). I can give you some more if you want.

Anyone smart enough can go to obama’s website and see all the specifics they would like to see. Hillary tries to pin labels on folks. Barack is trying to raise the level of discussions in this campaign. I want a President that acts Presidential and will help us get past this devisiveness and labeling that is not constructive. We need someone that can lead not attack. Too bad, Hillary is smart just using her skills to denigrate not buildup our nation. The last 7+ years have not been about intelligence or ability to speak, it has been about agendas and misleading the public to get what he wants. does that sound like anyone we know

But you must remember this they have heard and seen her and Bill pumping up McCain, Just Like they have Heard Dear Mr. Rush telling rep. to crossover and vote for Hillary along with Laura Ingram’s. Tripp Jones, Obama is an empty suit, unwell-known background and no experience candidate. He might have an opportunity to be a VP if he supported Hillary Clinton before. Now with Wright’s story, I don’t think he has a chance to be US President or VP for the rest of his political life unfortunately. He was 20 years late to condemn and distinct himself from Wright.
Many people might not like McCain personally but they will go for him for the sake of the country. At least, they know what he is and what he is stands for.

“Many people might not like McCain personally but they will go for him for the sake of the country. At least, they know what he is and what he is stands for.”
Yes, we sure know what McCain stands for.
Many more senseless deaths of young fellow Americans in Iraq.
A national health care disaster.
A free fall of the dollar and the greatest American recession in seventy years.
Growing poverty numbers in the country that once was one of the most prosperous on earth.
American torture in Guantanamo Bay, the further decline of our country’s once firm moral standards on human rights.
Environmental disasters on a national and global scale.
Every Obama or Clinton supporter who will vote for McCain in the GE shall take full responsibility for the total decline of this once great nation, a decline started by GOP man George W. Bush.

@lauren,
That is exactly my problem with Hillary. She wants this presidency and power so much, she is willing bluntly ask delegates to switch or do anything for it. How could you do that and then call it democracy. All I see here is an abuse of democracy – But well, that is how the democrats want to play their politics and I am not into the personality smearing thing, so I will reserve my comments on that.
The earlier, the democrats get out of this quagmire, the better -

When Clinton was asked about her Iraq war vote, she defended herself by saying that she was critical of the war before Obama was, and that she was the one who made a decision.
At least she did get 1 thig right in that answer—and that she was the one who made a decision. yeah lets go to war and have 4000 dead soldiers . Good choice.
Obama was right. no war
Murtha was right no war.
Hillary was wrong yes war

well, judge Barack Obama on what his campaign has done and compare it to Hillary, he won most states, he won more popular votes, he has more contributors and raised more funds, he attracted more voters to register as Democrats. Compare it to Hillary the Captain Sniper her campaign is a mess and include the Mark Penn’s Columbia connection and her unpaid bills from Iowa to New Hampshire. Wow what a campaign!!!!!

Obama has stated that Clinton votes like a Republican and called things the “Bush-McCain-Hillary Clinton” this or that. But there was very little press coverage when he did this so why attack Hillary when she does it?

Mr. David Brooks points out in his 3-25-08 column in The New York Times “Obama lawyers successfully prevented re-votes in Florida and Michigan.” This important statement was buried in otherwise as usual pro Obama piece that sees things for Sen. Obama’s favor in an obviously stalemated Democratic primary contest. I amazed that the preventing Michigan and Florida vote thus disenfranchising millions of Democratic voters didn’t seem to bother the whole media establishment one bit, which reminds me of the Supreme Court Handing over Florida vote to George Bush. Is this the new kind of politic that he’s promising the country, which reminds me of the Supreme Court Handing over Florida vote to George Bush.In this new era of new politics that’s promised by Sen. Obama, can this really happen, or is this politics as usual– circa Florida 2000? The more Sen. Obama strains to speak of his new era of politics in America, less and less of it seemed real. Sen. Obama should practice what he preaches so blatantly and the presidential primary campaign is a good place to start…Disenfranchising American voters─ no other person knows more about this subject than our former Vice-President Al Gore. It is ironic we just witnessed the same thing happen to Hillary Clinton, that happened to Al Gore in November 2000. And as usual the whole Washington media establishment was silent, more or less abandoning their responsibility of safeguarding the rights of the people to vote in a democracy such as ours; neglecting their role to say the obvious. The fact that Sen. Obama’s lawyers had successfully block the re-voting of Michigan and Florida. In this new era of new politics that’s promised by Sen. Obama, is looking even worse than the old ear of politics! I think for the sake of all; those voters who were shutout by Sen. Obama’s lawyers, Al Gore should endorse Hilly Clinton.

Posted by: charleschaplin | April 6, 2008, 10:58 am 10:58 am

There is another reason to be weary of an Obama nomination … besieds the fact that I think he is too far to the left to get elected…. large news organizations seem to implicitly favor him with their coverage and there is an organized effort on the blogoshere to tear Hillary down …when those 2 entities work together that gives one candidate an unfair advantage… so it is up to the people to make the ultimate decision

Posted by: Phillydemocrat | April 6, 2008, 11:20 am 11:20 am

Disfranchising American voters─ no other person knows more about this subject than our former Vice-President Al Gore. It is ironic we just witnessed the same thing happen to Sen. Hillary Clinton, what happened to Al Gore in November 2000. How can such an injustice repeat itself in America? It was a perfect reenactment me of the Supreme Court handing over Florida vote to Mr. George Bush. This time it was engineered by no other than our champion of “change,” Sen. Barak Obama himself, but now playing the role of George Bush in the sly with such skill! Sen. Barak Obama obviously has so much more in common with George Bush than meets the eye; it is said they are even very distant relatives; well, I’m not surprised!

Posted by: charleschaplin | April 6, 2008, 11:27 am 11:27 am

How have the Clintons raised $500 million so far for their foundation?
Simple.
Sell access to a yet another Clinton administration. It gets around the $2300 contribution maximum, but accomplishes what certain donors want and need.
The Clintons know how to market access, pardons, and policy. They are aided by a host of consultants. The Clintons are well-known for their willingness to play ball.
$500 million is only the beginning for a foundation that provides the Clintons with power in perpetuity.
However, not winning the White House would be a disaster for the Clintons, because they will be unable to deliver on promises they “guaranteed”.
It is little wonder that Hillary wants all this to last as long as possible. They know she’s lost. It’s now all about paying down debts, collecting pledges to the Foundation, and protecting the confidentiality of many questionable sources of funds… and their motivation for giving.
The house of cards is beginning to crumble. Foreign donors will want their money back. Without the White House, investigations are likely.
Palms a little sweaty, Bill?

What I find interesting, (and scary) is the fact that no one seems to be concerned with the prospect of our democracy beginning to take on the appearance of imperial rule, or an oligarchy. I think the Clinton’s believe they are entitled to the presidency. I think, they think, they are king and queen and I believe that those voting for Clinton want to sing “happy days are here again” so bad, that they are willing to sacrifice the bright future of this democracy in favor of the nostalgia of the Clinton 90′s. Doesn’t it bother anyone that should Clinton be elected, that this country will have been governed by the same two families for the past 20 years!?
I am an independent who likes Obama. But here’s the bottom line for me. If Clinton manages to steal the nomination in some way, (and that is what she would have to do at this point), I will vote for McCain. Not because I dislike Clinton, but because I don’t believe in the concept of ruling family classes, kingships, empires, or dictatorships. That’s what they have in places like Saudi Arabia, England,& Brunei. And, I am convinced, that if Clinton is elected, that is the slippery slope we will be on.

What a shameless First Woman!!!! She will do and say anything just to get any votes, even if it means destroying the Democratic Party…… Yes, reward rule-breakers, tear up the country, handle the Presidency to the Republicans, etc…… And she says, this is an exercise of democracy!!!! What a shameless tactic, but the truth is that she will do anything to win votes which are not there. Sniper fire anyone? Patient turned away by hospital? She expressed opposition to Iraq war before Obama? Has she turned deaf ears to the moral crime committed by Bill, “I did not have sex with that woman.”?
Okay, elect Hilary and this country will “never regain its respect.” To gain respect, the one at the top must earn it.
I would rather vote for McCain if this woman steas the Democratic people popular vote from Senator Obama.

Obama lied to his constituents in Illinois, why do you believe he will tell the truth now?
On the January 22nd 2006 edition of “Meet the Press,” Tim Russert and Obama had the following exchange:
Russert: “When we talked back in November of ’04 after your election, I said, ‘There’s been enormous speculation about your political future. Will you serve your six-year term as United States senator from Illinois?’”
Obama: “I will serve out my full six-year term. You know, Tim, if you get asked enough, sooner or later you get weary and you start looking for new ways of saying things. But my thinking has not changed.”
Russert: “So you will not run for president or vice president in 2008?”
Obama: “I will not.”

Hillary did not make up anything or lie about the hospital issue and the dead woman, the Deputy Sheriff in that town told her the story after being told it by the woman’s family. Now the hospital is saying it isn’t true, but there is no way to verify what the hospital is saying because of HIPAA laws.
Maybe you should read the story you posted you posted, here is an excerpt from it.
“The sheriff’s deputy, Bryan Holman, had played host to Mrs. Clinton in his home before the Ohio primary. Deputy Holman said in a telephone interview that a conversation about health care led him to relate the story of Ms. Bachtel. He never mentioned the name of the hospital that supposedly turned her away because he did not know it, he said.
Deputy Holman knew Ms. Bachtel’s story only secondhand, having learned it from close relatives of the woman. Ms. Bachtel’s relatives did not return phone calls Friday.
As Deputy Holman understood it, Ms. Bachtel had died of complications from a stillbirth after being turned away by a local hospital for her failure to pay $100 upfront.
“I mentioned this story to Senator Clinton, and she apparently took to it and liked it,” Deputy Holman said, “and one of her aides said she’d be using it at some rallies.”
How ironic that while Hillary voices her criticism of the Bush tax cuts she has benefited most from them – tax cuts that have transferred more wealth to the richest one percent of the population than any fiscal policies in history.
“After President Bush’s tax cuts of 2002, the couple’s tax burden, as a percentage of overall income, dropped from about 37 percent in 2001, settling to about 30 percent during the tax years 2003 to 2006.”

It’s obvious what Hillary is doing! She wants to be President badly, at any cost, and she will not be able to if Obama becomes President because she would have to wait 8 years which may be too late and the conditions unfavorable. Therefore, she is trying to bloody Obama so much (by comparing him to Bush) that he loses the election to McCain and she comes in and saves the party in 2012. How do you compare a candidate from your own party to the opposing party’s standard bearer who happens to have the lowest approval ratings in history? This is shameful on her part. You may not Like Obama, but you cannot put self interest above partry interest.

I myself have been question if Obama is a closet republican he has been talking about bring us back to the Reagan days and the first Bush years. I find this very alarming when he claims to be a democrat. And he hasn’t shown any backbone in the senate when it has come to the war. He has continued to vote to support this war he hasn’t gotten up on the floor of the senate condeming this war. I was able to cast my first vote against Reagan so I really don’t want someone who wants to bring us back there. Even if its about foriegn policy thats scary since Reagan also was a bully like Bush. And during the first Bush our economy was like it is today horrible and he did nothing to make it better. He stated this was the way he wants to go. Sorry, I can’t ever vote for this man. At least during the Clinton years he had great foriegn policy, economy was great, we were close to seeing peace in the middle east if Bush would have continued the talks maybe there would be peace.
Remember we had a balanced budget and a surplus from Clinton something that niether Reagan or Bush or this Bush has done.
He needs to stop trying to make out like these were horrible years they weren’t and Obama knows it.

Hi Di.
The link is interesting and it seems to me, to be the opinion of 3 guys who actually distort the fact in a lot of “academic” analyisis.
“The fact that Geraldine Ferraro was released from the Clinton campaign for saying what is so obviously true — …. because he is an African-American – is regrettable… because it should be stressed in no uncertain terms that his race is a very important variable in the calculus of many voters.
Unless there is a poll out there by at least 3 or 4 agencies that show that people who support Obama are doing so because of his race, and only his race, this piece should be trashed and deleted from this blog. Rather, it is HRC that campaigns on the platform of being a woman, and so all women should vote for her.
Think my friend and since you’ve probably not done it before, please take a course in Critical thinking. There are so many books that can help you on Amazon.com.
I don’t care who wins as long as it’s not McCain, but folks, you can do better. A course in critical thinking, hopefully, will help you stop swallowing everything you read or hear from even people with PhD.

You people have to stop spreading these ridiculous lies.
And furthermore, foreign policy under Clinton was not “great.” He bombed a medicine clinic in Sudan a few days after Monica to shift press coverage. He turned down the opportunity to capture bin Laden. He wanted to invade Iraq but didn’t have the political capital. Etc., etc.

Jozy – what are you, about 12? All your comments are so juvenile. For example, why are you injecting JFK’s father into the picture? And by the way, in addition to being a bootlegger, he was also the youngest bank president in MA, anticipated the Crash of ’29 (and got his money out), worked in the Roosevelt Administration and was Ambassador to Great Britain. And the little catch phrase “she’ll do anything to get elected” is really lame. You might as well say “her mother wears army boots.”

Hillary Clinton is no longer trying to point out policy differences with

Her obvious strategy is to make sure that Obama loses the general election

I can understand if you dislike Obama, but I don’t think that justifies supporting Hillary. If you can’t see through her tricks and tactics then you are pretty much oblivious to the world around you. I thought the same as Bush from the start and now many years later the amount of people that agree with me shot up 50 percent. If you don’t see it now you’ll probably be changing your tune in a few years…
If Hillary wins I’m backing McCain, it doesn’t matter what someone tells you if you can’t trust them. None of these candidates is perfect but she is clearly the worst prevaricator.
