Clinton Attacks Democratic Activists

A year ago, at a virtual town hall sponsored by the liberal group MoveOn, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., lauded the group.

"You’ve been asking the tough questions; you’ve been refusing to back down when any of us who are in political leadership are not living up to the standards that we should set for ourselves," she said. "I think you have helped to change the face of American politics for the better."

What a difference a year — and access to a private fundraiser — make.

Yesterday the Huffington Post’s Celeste Fremon posted comments Clinton made after Super Tuesday at a small private fundraiser in which she disparaged the group and Democratic activists in general.

"Moveon.org endorsed" Obama, she said, "which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down. We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party.

"MoveOn didn’t even want us to go into Afghanistan," Clinton said — falsely, according to the group. "I mean, that’s what we’re dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and It’s primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don’t agree with them. They know I don’t agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

UPDATE: The wise Marc Ambinder reminds me that Moveon was first formed to protest the impeachment of then-President Bill Clinton.

Put a fork in her…she’s done! Even if she wins the nomination…which she will not…without the support of move-on.org, she’s dead.
Clinton supporters…realize one thing…she is sticking in this race for two main reasons: to get donations, especially so she can get donations from her clueless supporters in order to pay back her loan and as she attempts to make Obama unelectable, she feels that she’ll be able to run in 2012 because McSame will be suffering from Alzheimers.

Seems like another nonissue to me. Weren’t these put on notice on Colbert’s show the other night?
That Clinton chooses to attack the ‘friends’ who supported her husband, while cozying up to the ‘conspiracy’ that attacked him is the only interesting side-issue. And it’s really ‘who cares’ at that because all politicians seem to do this kind of flip-flopping at one point or another.

OK is there anything this woman does not b—- about?????I have never seen such a cry baby ,again two sets of rules one for them and one for the rest .Honest this is to the point where it is sicken .She wants this so bad it hurts…..

@Roxanne:
I’m sure there are plenty of Clinton supporters and Obama supporters in Moveon that would literally and figuratively take their own name to heart in order to defeat McCain…

if the mainstream media had did their job and reported on the abuse Hillary supporters went through at caucus everyone would know this is the truth. The stories are out there no one has ever did an article on them in the press.

Posted by: toby | April 19, 2008, 12:44 pm 12:44 pm

Yea she would like us voters to just sit back and vote for her.
I have never seen a politician like her, yep she is the real change. No activist allowed, tell us that the republican candidate is better then her opponent, run as a republican on the democratic ticket.
What she is realy saying is vote for me or screw you.

Posted by: Thinking | April 19, 2008, 12:45 pm 12:45 pm

She is right. Obama is ahead because of intimidation. He is unelectable. The Republicans will make mincemeat out of him and I hope the other half of the party will join me to help them. Go Hillary or McCain.

THESE TWO DEMOCRATS CANIDATES HAVE DONE AND DOING WELL IN PRIMARY. THEY HAVE INSPIRED MANY NEW VOTERS. THEY WILL BE REMEMBERED FOREVER. THE HAVE DONE A REMARKABLE JOB SO FAR. WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF THEM REALLY. THIS RACE IS REALLY AMAZING, INDEED.

@toby: didn’t the Clintons just say that this was a ‘contact sport’? They know as well as anyone how caucuses work and those against ‘whining’ can’t really complain now, can they?
Again, these so-called “issues” are manufactured distractions in my opinion. When the rest of the country gets into the recession that we have here in Michigan, maybe we can finally talk about things that matter…

Posted by: MIguy | April 19, 2008, 12:48 pm 12:48 pm

The two factors which I have never seen in a Dem nomination contest that are so prevalent this time are:
1) the unrelenting, unabashedly pro-Obama, anti-Hillary coverage. Before the Iowa Caucuses even, much of the press was asking if it was all over for Hillary, and they’ve never let up one bit.
2) the intimidation and ruthlessness of
Obama supporters. They rant about their love of Obama and if you should say anything the least bit critical of him or positive about Hillary you will meet abuse. Samantha Power’s calling Hillary aa “Monster” was not a slip, it is the tenor and tone embraced by his ccampaign. I have heard Obama supporters “jokingly” make threats on HHillary. The undercurrents of personal hhatred for Hillary among Omamabots is unpreceented! And he’s supposed to be aunifier??

Posted by: hopesprings52 | April 19, 2008, 12:53 pm 12:53 pm

I think what she attacked was caucuses where voters can be intimidated by activist groups.
Caucuses are undemocratic, even without these tactics.
States don’t use caucuses to determine who gets their electoral college votes in Nov.
Democrats should get rid of caucuses, but from an organisation that doesn’t want to count the votes of 2.3 million of its members what can one expect.

Obama,
will not become POTUS, even david gregory on the obama network MSNBC just said “part of the problem with obama and the superdelegates know this and keep the ? about him-He probally will lose the ge because he will not have the support of Sen. Clintons primary supporters, he will not have mi,
fl is off the table, he is losing by double digits in co,ohio, and wva to mccain” the only real supporters he has are the african american community voting blindly for him-and that is beginning to change-check out the voice of black america-
and liberal whites, who are right in line with his leftist views
for him to now be getting the support for the youth vote from mos def, and kweli both nation of islam muslims
is further moving him to the radical far left-even further than kerry and co.
expected.
obama will not win the general election
without
hillary supporters
mi
fl
black people finally seeing the light
his views are to far to the left and poor people will suffer.
if you are middle class or poor with an obama presidency
expect the solution for you from him
will be to put you on the dole while the people he puts in charge of the cookie jar.-gets fat and rich-until some one comes along and catches them with their had in the cookie jar
obama should not be POTUS
Obama will not win the position of POTUS
Hillary clinton really is the only chance
and dean and co. being against her would rather lose the ge than give her a chance.

No Obama is not a unifier.
There is no evidence of this whatsoever and his supporters are nothing shy of rabid.
He has no history of voting across the aisle or bringing anyone together in the senate.
Well he doesn’t even show up that much actually, and votes even less.
NO he’s not a unifier. Peopel with Messiah complexes usually aren’t.

From the perspective of someone watching, it seems that both sides have plenty of ‘good, bad, and ugly’ supporters.
As you seem to be a Clinton supporter, I would suggest you take her lead in the ‘no whining’ approach. Whoever wins will win – she hasn’t lost yet…

Posted by: MIguy | April 19, 2008, 12:56 pm 12:56 pm

Is Hillary in fact an incredible amateur in politics?
With this statement she just made sure that the more than 3,000,000 adherents of MoveOn know that she betrayed them, therefore she can forget about their vote and support.
The DNC won’t be impressed or amused either by a candidate’s attempt to alienate activists in the party.
BTW Jake I understood that MoveOn’s endorsement of Obama only came after various caucuses already passed.

Posted by: ken | April 19, 2008, 12:56 pm 12:56 pm

One of the things that I like about Hillary is that she has the strength, courage and reasonableness to stand up to the lunatic left and the rabid right wings. The average American is not in favor of a swing too far either way, towards Obama or towards McCain who are both pandering to their respective party loonies.

Posted by: hopesprings52 | April 19, 2008, 12:58 pm 12:58 pm

Hill has become FoxNews’ candidate that is why she has lost all of us including Moveon.org. You cannot be in bed with Hannity, McCain and Oreilly and expect that the right thinking Americans will support you. Nobodoy wants a 3rd Term WBush-Cheney-Cinderella Rice. Hill has lost, she has to admit it and get out the race. This is not a race of gender, sex or color of the skin. God bless America and God bless Obama.OBAMA08

Posted by: BKMC | April 19, 2008, 12:58 pm 12:58 pm

Why does she always have excuses for every thing? I am a Hillary supporter and I have been to two caucuses for her. To be absolutely honest…she never had as many people that Obama had to support her. Her supporters are not as passionate about her as they are about Obama. Also, many of her supporters are older and many of them were asleep while caucuses here in Texas took place anywhere from 8-10 a night. The caucuses that I went to had 216 Obama supporters and 70 Clinton supporters. The other had 4 Clinton supporters and 22 Obama supporters.

Posted by: Sally | April 19, 2008, 12:59 pm 12:59 pm

Yes obama is far too left to ever be elected POTUS. And that’s just his voting record and past political positions, not his associations, gaffes or choice of church. Then of course there’s MI and FL, OH, PA etc etc.
He is unelectable.

Posted by: Thinking | April 19, 2008, 1:03 pm 1:03 pm

Sally that is why Caucuses are undemocratic.
Some caucuses in texas didnt start until 11 pm, hours after polls closed.
The results from the Texas caucus should have been thrown out and only the vote used.
Any international body that monitors elections in the world would have declared the Texas caucus result invalid.
If eight month pregnant women, disabled people, old people, shift workers, people with small children, the elderly etc etc can’t participate then its not democratic.
Caucus results are completely invalid.
Sure more Obama supporters showed up and stayed. They are younger, less likely to work shifts, and less likely to be the primary caregivers of children.
NO surprise there. But everyone gets to vote in NOV in real elections.
That is the democrats mistake. Without caucuses, Hillary would be well ahead of Obama, even with proportional allotment of delegates.
There are no caucuses in NOV and its winnner take all, another measure by which she would be well ahead.
Obama’s lead isn’t valid and has little relevence to a NOv. election.
That’s why the Republicans will win if he is the nominee.

While your penchant for research is interesting, and journalists certainly should research their statements, your citation of the one moveon.org archive is not on point.
The archive you cite is opposing a particular “retaliation” of bombing a city, rather than military action against the Taliban and bin laden.
Big difference.
The real point here is that Hillary was fine with MoveOn until they supported her opponent. Heaven forbit anyone should be against the Coronation of Queen Hillary. Reminds me of “The Tudors” where opposition to the Church of England and Anne Berlin was cause to lose one’s head!!!

If the Dem Party ceases to be a respected, viable coalition, it will be because of being overwhelmed by nonsense on the left, rather than anything done by those on the right wing. Moveon petitioning for patience and restraint before going after the Taliban, Jimmy Carter cozying up to Hamas. What happened to the Dem Party of my father which had both strong principles and a strong spine?

the obama supporters just do not see the big picture
maybe you think if you keep writing
obama08 it will make it so, of course you know it will not.
obama does not have enough of a base to win the general election.
he has african american
liberal whites (who right now it has not sunk in just how far to the left he is-they will be shocked)
after rev. wright, bill ayers, the clinging to guns,etc.-you know what his negs. are. and they are ALL his doing.
(smacks at his inexperience)
after all of this. he cannot win
for him to win he will need to gain the hillary supporters (not happening)
and get some of john mccains supporters
(not happening)
obama nominee-dems lose the white house.
I would like for one of his supporters tell me how all that I have mentioned is not so.
as far as I can tell the people who are so crazy for obama-are really people not caring about the issues and just voting against hillary. and that is ok.
so you win the battle
and lose the war
obama will not be president

Posted by: jgaw | April 19, 2008, 1:13 pm 1:13 pm

s.b.
I have to say that whomever the Dem nominee will be, he/she will be the next President. Mccain does not stand a chance against either of the Dems because
1) His main problem with voters is that they think he is too old. His age is something that cannot be changed.
2) He is stupid when it comes to the economy
3) He supports the war while 2/3 of the country does not.
4) There are so many things like Tax cuts for example that he has double spoke about that will come back to haunt him in Nov.
5) Many vets are pissed at Mccain for not signing the GI bill.
6) Mccain should have a huge lead right now because the Dems are still fighting each other but he only manages to tie with both of the Dems. If he only ties right now, imagine how pathetic he will be once we choose a nominee.
The list I’m sure will be longer by November. Obama is not perfect, but don’t be fooled into thinking that Mccain is invincible.

“If the Dem Party ceases to be a respected, viable coalition”
I would have never said this 3 months ago even though it was lying under that brainwashing and duped mentality I had for 15 years…but if ” the Dem Party ceases to be a respected, viable coalition”
…it will be because of the Clintons (self empowering need and justification) and the fact that their supporters never got by the defensive position they have been brainwashed themselves into because of fighting for years against everyone trying to defend the Clintons…yes it is all for “the Clintons” no matter what scandals and bad judgements they have brought down on the party for their own self preservation.

Posted by: dl | April 19, 2008, 1:16 pm 1:16 pm

DMK,
If you look at it that way then more than half of America is using the GOP playbook because 51% of Dems have the same opinion about Hillary :(

Posted by: Sally | April 19, 2008, 1:17 pm 1:17 pm

I absolutely agree with the following:
The two factors which I have never seen in a Dem nomination contest that are so prevalent this time are:
1) the unrelenting, unabashedly pro-Obama, anti-Hillary coverage. Before the Iowa Caucuses even, much of the press was asking if it was all over for Hillary, and they’ve never let up one bit.
2) the intimidation and ruthlessness of
Obama supporters.
To add another factor that has made this election so unusual:
People who are supporting Obama are so willing to lie to change their own positions so as to justify their support:
You have Bill Richardson literally slapped his own face when he said supers should follow what their state voted, and then he did exactly the opposite. You have Ted Kennedey belittle Hillary’s contribution to his the CHIP program but he had said glorious and grateful remarks to Hillary a couple of years ago thanking her contribution and support. The list can go on and on. Now you have MoveOn doing the same thing. Are the obama supporters going nuts to try to defend their “the chosen one”?

Posted by: AMy | April 19, 2008, 1:19 pm 1:19 pm

Hey roxanne.
You Obama fans think we Clinton supporters are voting for Obama in the general election. Why?
Because of wonderfull posts about our candidate like yours? Because the liberal media SAYS we will come around?
Because Tapper STUMPS for Obama 24 hrs a day? Using the flimiest of stories to justify it?
Obama is unelectable. Mc Cain will be the next president.

BO lacks character and is not a patriot-that is why people are still trying to figure out why the Dem’s big shots are supporting him. If he gets the nomination, be assured that the Republican party will be in power the next 4 years. We want a President who is “for the people” and someone who does not think that Americans are always wrong. He and his friends are the bitter ones and embrace the wrongs that they have perceived over the years.

Posted by: virginia | April 19, 2008, 1:26 pm 1:26 pm

sally,
here is the thing, Sen. Clinton compared to obama is consider a centrist democrat, obama everyone knows or are finding he is a far-left liberal of the party (My feelings are once everything is in place-kerry and dean will find out just how far left he is-but of course it will be to late)
mccain will have to appeal to the far right of the rep. party to get their support so if he is a “soft rep” he will need to move to right to get support
I believe the majority of this country
are some where in the middle.
in the ge mccain against clinton
clinton will win out.
I do not believe what the talking heads tell us that she has to many neg. and the rep will line up with mccain if she is at the top of the ticket-most people are in the center-will be more in line with hillary.
most people in the center fear mccain and the war.
they will know sen. clinton has the will
to get that healthcare bill through this time.
these dems coming up for reelection rep these small towns-know (i don’t care what the talking heads say now) a Bill clinton coming to there small town to help them get reelected is much better than a michelle obama
when you look to the ge-the clintons really do have the better chance to get the dems back in the wh.
and I believe what sen. clinton is trying to do is more on the side of right
anytime you have someone stacking the deck against you to win-right will always win out.
obama if he wins the primary-will not have won fair and square
and people will remember that in the ge also.
if all you want is to beat Sen. Clinton
you may have your victory
but if you wanted to see obama as president-it will not happen

people write Obama 08 because that is what reasonable people know will be the case unless dirty old typical politics (the kitchen sink…which the Clinton campaign admitted throwing themselves)…won.
But honestly how you could ever think that Hillary is going to happen.
What do you see happening …she vblows him out over 12 in PA…a state where she has the ENTIRE political machine and system behind her… and then win all the other states enough that she can convince supers to turn away from all those voters and states that voted for Obama who legitimately won…and then you think she with all her baggage…and her low ceiling which has now been lowered to a point where she can’t win…is going to go up against McCain…with not a single scandal having been raised (outside of her “misstatements”) during the primary…because FOx and the RNC have held it for the general and Obama took the high road and didn’t want to damage hiw own party..
and you think she can win?
yeah
you all are honestly beyond dillusional and myopic if that is the case…
do you realize the tsunami that would come to a woman who already had half of America not like her…and now she will have 3/4 not like her…

Lots of opinions here today and virtually no issues are being discussed. It doesn’t take too many gray cells to figure out why.

Posted by: Aston | April 19, 2008, 1:27 pm 1:27 pm

It’s one of the major flaws in Hillary’s character, and it makes her totally unsuitable to be President of the UNITED States: everyone who doesn’t share her opinions or doesn’t personally support for whatever reason, is her enemy. And she’ll demonize her ‘opponents’ whenever it fits the occasion.
That is, as we all remember, how her initial health care plan stranded; she said she would demonize anyone who opposed to it. Well, there happened to be a lot of Republicans AND Democrats who thought that her plan wasn’t particularly splendid.
Same behavior with the blue collar workers who would not support a Clinton: ‘ Screw ‘em!’. They ONLY matter when they are Clinton supporters.
And now again exactly the same thing with activists in her own party. They favor Obama? To hell with them, even though they came to the rescue when Bill was going to be impeached.
Such a woman shouldn’t become President of ANY country, and certainly not of that great mixed bag of The United Sates of America!

First you refer to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (full name) and then you refer to Senator Barack Obama —-he too has a middle name. If it is too offensive now to speak it or write it, just remember the name will be used daily if he were elected President.
My brother worked for Boeing Security and had to go through stringent security checks and family too, and frequently. So with all of Senator Obama’s close ties (and the list is endless with ties to criminals, racist, anti-American relationships, billionaires from Iraq and so forth) how could he ever be given any security clearance?
With all of his money (3 times that of Clinton) he should win BIG in Pennsylvania? He has spent enough money. Frankly I’ve heard enough about his patriotism — he doesn’t believe in symbols just actions were his words at the last debate. His own wife wore an expensive wedding gown of “white” because of tradition when they got married. That symbol is okay obviously but showing respect for American practice that most share is not? People salute the flag of America with their hands on their hearts out of respect for the thousands that have given their lives for us to live in a “free society”. We do this out of respect—yes, it is a symbol but one all American’s should cherish. And he doesn’t wish to wear the American flag pin that too is his choice, again just a symbol of respect.
And, please if I hear “you guys” one more time…is he just talking to men? …women are not guys. Let’s elect a person that we want to represent American traditions, beliefs, ideals, that has respect for those that have given their lives so that we might live in this great country. Showing respect should be a standard for a President.
Also, tell Senator Barack Hussein Obama that American’s want to know where he stands on personal issues. He was obviously offended by the last debate referring to it as silliness and has said that was his last debate. This has been his problem from the very beginning! He did not know that Rezko (his friend of 17 years) was a criminal. He is only interested in the results that his friend can give him—buying the expensive lot next to his house, and getting him a huge discount on his home, throwing dinner parties at Rezko’s home, inviting billionaires from Iraq for Senator Obama to wine and dine with. He is only interested in the sermons and the image of attending church but never read or reviewed the philosophy of the church he has attended for some 20 years? Yes, someone please tell Senator Barack Hussein Obama that actions speak louder than words.

Anne writes: “First you refer to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (full name) and then you refer to Senator Barack Obama —-he too has a middle name.”
???
Rodham, as you well know, is Hillary’s family name. She wants to keep it, it sounds more chique to have a double name and it suggests some independence from her husband.
Her original full name is Hillary Diane Rodham. Do we ever use that ‘Diane’? Why should we use ‘Hussein’ then?

Sally,
If she didn’t have the deck stacked against her so would be beating obama
obama has:
dean and the dnc pulling for him
he has the msm pulling for him
he has african american voting blindly for him-(told by black radio dj to vote for the brother-and don’t ask any questions and don’s say anything to hurt him)
and he has a lot of far left liberal money backing him.
and for me if this is the “new” that obama says he is bring to politics-and old washington is out (which i suppose does not sit well with old washington)
then I will not be a part of it. because if we are moving to designer president the best money we can buy we really are head as a country down a dangerous road.

Obama Needs our prayers not our votes.
His display in the past few days, have shown america what he is all about.
It is not for America or Americans.
He thinks he is above everyone. That he can do anything he wants and it is acceptable.
He has acted childish and immature lately. Showing he is not yet ready to accept the responsibility of being the head of the Greatest Country in the world.
He only gives us words and motivational speeches, we can get that in a church of our own choosing. We need more from a president than that.
His Close personal friends over the past 20 years, who have worked hard to get him hear, will continue to be his friends.
He refuses to give us any thing more than his words. His Character does matter, how he handles pressure does matter. His friends do matter That shows what a persona is all about. If they can be trusted and How they will handle themselves.
He has let us down, he will only give us more words and wants us to blindly follow him and give him our vote.
We the people deserve to have more from him.

I wonder if Bill had been accused of flipping off Obama if there would of been so much silence on that call?
Bet you would of had the crowds coming out in their numbers, Sharpton would of been on every show talking about how white people view blacks.
There would of been a call for Bill to apologize and get his wife out of the race man the entire place would of been in uproar.
Here we have another pass for Obama, while he brings his Jay Z, hood antics into the presidential race, he has show total disrespect for a woman, and has gone into the gutter with that behavior.
Such poor material for president, all has seen it but choose to ignore his antics, not priceless but more like classless.

What a bunch of crap. It’s clear you haven’t understood anything about what “Obama” has become to mean for many millions of Americans. Rove style attacks will only make him stronger and more popular with the majority of Americans who totally have had it with the “old politics” .
If is there is ONE symbol of the politics that majority despises, it must Karl Rove, and Cheney comes in second.

I am more on the fence now, but before I was a staunch Hillary supporter honestly. You can’t really blame everything on the media, or on Obama, or on Mccain, or on anything else. Sometimes she should take responsibility for her mistakes. Who is responsible for her poor campaign? Why didn’t she fire Mark Penn after he made a trade deal that she opposes? Why is she in so much debt? Why is she taking money from trade deals that her husband makes, but she “opposes”? Why did she boldly lie about Bosnia on multiple occasions (the sleep deprivation excuse will not fly in Nov) Things like this are only Clinton’s fault, not the media’s. Why is she claiming that she was always a critic of NAFTA, but in the White House papers she help pro-NAFTA meetings and she was filmed on tape in 1996 praising NAFTA?
The media is not making her say and do these crazy things. I really am disappointed in her. Don’t get me wrong, I know that all politicians lie, but I think the hopes that I had for her and Bill were too high or something. She is really killing me :(

That Clinton is one stupid woman.
She will not be able to win ANY election anymore, Senate included, after losing this race for so many and so different good reasons.
In California Obama is already stronger against McCain than Clinton, the polls show. In other states (see yesterday’s Colorado results!) she has no chance against McCain (double digits…) while Obama would beat him!
And the SD’s see these results…

Dear Seah,
What should have happened with mr. obama in the beginning did not happen
but his supporters had noway of know his leftist leanings
the msm let people down-the easy work for them was to focus on what we already knew about sen. clinton.-actually very lazy for people who I suppose get paid very well and who ever is in the wh does not matter to them-the story any story is all that they worry about.
obama born to marxist parents
(one of his campaign offices has a picture of che and the cuban flag on the wall-I suppose the workers just see it as pop culture dec.-those of us who are older know the real story.)
he has a perfect path throughout his life to bring him to the person he is today-and of course that is his business
but I do not think he should be president.
but for me on a rather personal note
The black people who are voting for him
and have not investigated him-do not realize he has never been a champion for then in the same vain as mlk or others.
al sharpton has a saying
“that jim crow is not really dead, he is now slicker and in a brooks brothers suit and goes by the name John C. esq.
well if that is the new person for the right.
obama is his slick left wing counterpart.
what mr. obama is selling america really does not need.

I can see it now if Obama gets the nomination and loses the GE — It was Hillary’s fault!

It’s very telling that virtually every hate group/individual loves Obama.
Move On, Jeremiah Wright, The New Black Panthers Party, Louis Farrakhan, Bill Ayers and on and on.
Obama is the Trojan horse for hard-left hate in America. Nothing more. ‘
He will, thankfully, be defeated by intelligent, decent Americans everywhere. Nobama. No way.

The Clintons are not unique because they are politicians who have egos. Especially in the big leagues, you have to have a massive belief in self to survive. But again, to bash the Clintons as the undoing of Democrats is ridiculous. Bill Clinton resurrected the Democratic Party as a party that could win the presidency. Without the Clintons and those two terms of peace and prosperity, the Dems would be done. The Clintons have had success, so some Dems want to destroy them. And that is why the Dems lose the presidency so often; the apparatus follows the Ted Kennedy walk off the plank.

Sally,
The November general election is a whole different ball game than the primary/caucus elections. Far left liberals like Obama, Dukakis and McGovern usually start off leading (Dukakis was up Bush by 17%), but once they become known wind up being crushed in November. Because there were no centrists willing to tough it out liek Clinton is doing.

This is the day they are going to regret their vote so much. Mothers and fathers will be crying. The website that shows every dead soldier to this point, will triple. Whatever reason that Moveonorg. began, the organization has morphed and changed into something else, something ugly and hateful, like Obama and his Rev. Wright. What did the other guy say, oh yeah, we have to fight a war against the Republicans to fight the war! Hypocrisy spun by self important hypocrites who don’t even know what they are fighting against. Do you want to keep the country safe from terrorists? Do you think sitting down with Hamas and Bin Laden will bring peace? There will never be peace in the Middle East. Palestinians teach their children from birth to hate Americans and Jews – much the way the Rev. Wright teaches his church to hate whites from early on. Palestinians lay the blame for all of their problems at the feet of Israel, never doing anything to pull themselves out of despair, but continue to bomb and murder innocent children. Defenders of the Palestinians and Hamas – that is what your sick organization has become. So moveonorg. began as a way to defend the Clintons against the Republican attack machine, moveonorg. obviously is not doing that now. Now you denigrate a woman, and former first lady, with every sexist, demeaning, hateful word possible. And you denigrate the only two term democratic president since FDR – 60 years and counting – with every hateful word possible. The Democratic party does not want your far left liberal beliefs shoved down our throats. Go torture the Republicans – why don’t you change their party from within? It would be so much more fun for all of you…The Democrats do not want Hamas loving Moveonorg. in our party!!! There is no peace when you are driven by hatred moveonorgs…you are just like any other terrorist organization without the bombs, but maybe your idolization of Ayers should be a real cause for concern for Americans!

I agree with Toby. I won’t be bullied by MoveOn, Huffington, or any others on the Obama Express. He couldn’t handle the hard questions; he isn’t ready to be a president. I left MoveOn following their email after the debate. They’re pathetic. And why is Huffington even a force at all? She was a staunch Republican, was introduced to a gay man, cough cough at the Getty Manse Obama spoke his true self, married him, divorced him and was left a wealthy woman. She reeks, and her bid for governor in CA was an exercise in attack politics. Disgusting. She even tripped and fell as she ran over to the press, trying to get a free photo when Arnold appeared. These are the people supporting Obama, and as a Democrat I have received so many calls and emails telling me to throw HRC under the bus and go Obama that bullying is a euphemism for what these people have become. They’re extremists bent on destroying HRC, led by extremists. I left MoveOn, and I left the Democratic party. Hey Obama Xpress. I’m scratching my cheek too, and guess which finger I’m using? Better — guess which Republican I’m voting for, for the first time in my life, in the presidential. Ya lost me, and I doubt I’m the only one. the Left is so far Left it’s become the extreme Right. if he wins the nomination-and by some miracle wins the ge-the supportes who are so crazy for him now are going to
wake up one day and say
Oh, is that how he feels about that,
that’s is not what I believe, i didn’t know that is what he believes”
but it will be to late by then.
and I don’t know maybe his way is the way america will be brought down to size.
I will tell you one difference in Sen Clinton and obama
Sen. Clinton-believes our country has a way of restoring itself in the world as the leader the world wanted it to be-
a super power, yes but helping the world
not warring with the world-in the geo bush style.
Obama-believes the USA-should be made equal with the rest of the world-it has no right to be a superpower-in other words-do not use the usa to help lift the standard of living for the rest of the world-but bring the usa down and equalize it with the rest of the world.
(and not in a good way)
an old black preacher named rev. ike
had a saying
“you cannot help the poor by going down there and becoming one of them”
I believe this is the ultimate plan of Mr. obama’ for this country.-not lift the poor countries bring us down to them

It makes no sense for a Democratic presidential contender to publicly bash members of their own party. This ensures weakening of the party, which will, in turn, increase the likelihood that working-class citizens that make up the Democratic party’s base will continue to suffer for many more years to come.
What a shame.

Anyone who has ever been vetted for a security clearance by the FBI is probably wondering exactly what I am – how is this Obama guy going to get a top secret security clearance with the likes of Rezko and Auchi, Bill Ayers, and the Reverend Wright and his cronies hanging around in his background? If he were an ordinary citizen being vetted by the FBI, he wouldn’t get past the first day. Maybe that’s the card the Republicans are holding up their sleeve – sorry, we can’t give your candidate the kind of security clearance he needs to be POTUS! Hillary or NcCain, no other choice for me and millions like me. We are Americans first, and the longer the DNC and the media try to shove this guy down our throats, the more resolute we become.

It’s a shame continuing discussions about policies and ideas can’t get someone back into a race but they can’t. Hence the Clinton approach since Super Tuesday. Their ideas are very similar and more Democrats have decided that Obama can best carry out those ideas and it leaves her with no path to winning. I like her and I like her husband but I cannot stand the negativity. This campaign has become hope vs. frustration. I choose not to be frustrated. That’s why I am campaigning and voting for Barack Obama here in NC.

Talk of the ideas and why you are against them or for them and what you would do about the real issues. Stop using terms like liberal, right and center.
I want to hear how you will deal with 12 million illegal aliens who do not appreciate the loss of habeus corpus, and therefore are not good citizens, and are a weakening of democracy. I want to hear how you will end the oppression of the US worker by countries with per capita incomes of 1/3 ours.
How will you stop the corporations from detroying democracy, when they put competing referenda on the ballot, knowing they are only adding confusion intentionally preventing an issue from receiving 2/3rd vote of the public?

Clinton is right. Even my co-workers who support Obama felt it was wrong for Moveon.org to get involved and pick sides in the Democratic primaries. Moveon.org should keep it’s focus on the general election and taking on the Republicans not any of the Democrats unless they take positions so out of sync with the liberal end of the spectrum. There is little difference between Obama and Clinton’s positions so there was absolutely no justification on the part of Moveon.org getting involved. They contend Clinton has and is being divisive and yet their involvement in this campaign has contributed immensely to such divisiveness. Moveon.org has alot of money and contributors (they won’t be seeing my money any more from here on in) and people willing to work on a grassroots level and to say this hasn’t impacted this campaign and been to the benefit of Obama is ridiculous. Moveon.org also has contributed to Obama’s being characterized as being far to the left of Kennedy (which I don’t believe he is but now he’s beholden to such groups as Moveon.org)
and helped in creating a division between the far left of this party and the more moderate/conservative Democrats. Groups such as Moveon.org are not going to play clean in the general election and as such I say that the Republicans should just bring on those 527′s to attack Obama, because that “new politics” is not going to be played from our end. What this far left
hijacking of the Democratic party has done is ensured that we will see a move to McCain from some of those moderate/conservative Democrats. As Obama’s shine starts to fade (as it has already) and it becomes clear that he can’t even unite his own party let alone the Country, you will not be seeing Republicans jumping ship to Obama. How stupid the Democrats have been in a year that Mickey Mouse should be able to win the general election. We are running against the only Republican that would even stand a shot at taking back the White House because he’s more centrist/moderate and the Democrats decide to take advantage of the fortunate position we are in and opt to forward a more far leftist/progressive agenda. The Democrats deserve to lose this year .

We will Write in Hillarys name, vote McCain to insure, that some one we know who is not fit to be the president, evident by his history, ability and lack of maturity should not be president.
Only thing we can guess is the DNC Thinks they can use him for a puppet.

We don’t need more of the same of politics of the past; and we certainly don’t need the Clintons back in the White House. Have you forgotten?
You want a lying ex-con for a CO-PRESIDENT? Bill Clinton is your boy. Even though Bill is an ex-convict (lying to federal grand jury, obstruction of justice, and even though he had his license to practice law stripped from him, and even though he no longer has public employees (Arkansas Highway Patrol) running him to see his many “mistresses, even after Monica Lewinsky, Jennifer Flowers and a host of others, many Americans still supported him, but not any more. And his new BFF is Bush senior and his intent now is just to make money.

Hillary is the grande dame of liars. Her elaborate Tuzla story was not just a lie, it was an elaborate whopper. She lied about her supposed opposition to NAFTA; she lied about being against the Iraq war before Barack. If she was so opposed to the Colombian Free Trade agreement, why didn’t she “reject and denounce” the portion of the $800.000, inured to her benefit as a matter of law. She could have donated it to some of the Americans who are deprived of jobs as a result of these trade agreements.

Seah,
When the Democratic race was whittled down, MoveOn asked its members which candidate they wanted to support. The members overwhelmingly chose Barack Obama in an online vote. That is Democracy pure and simple. I don’t know why this is so hard for Hillary Clinton supporters to understand. I am in this to elect Democrats, not only Hillary Clinton.
I was at a county party fundraiser yesterday with a lot of the party activists, many of the ones that I personally recruited four years ago during the Kerry campaign. Are you now telling me that I am not welcome in the Democratic party? I am offended by the contention that I am not a real Democrat. Clinton’s divisive tactics are one of the reasons that I do not support her.

Posted by: Ann | April 19, 2008, 3:04 pm 3:04 pm

I am sure Hillary will be a good soldier IF Obama gets the nomination. But I will not support Obama. Move On and the rest of the MSM has made sure of that. Obama supporters have trashed any chance he has of wining in Nov. The Clinton’s know how to win, that is why Bill Clinton is the only democrat in my lifetime that has won two terms. I have a feeling he will be the last in my lifetime.

She married and her husband he old too. Supposing he be needing something and she aint around. Maybe he want her to run an errand or fetch something for him. Then what, he have to get the stuff fore hisself?

It appears as if there is no place in th for Democratic party reasonable individual willing to work with everyone to get the economy going and to uphold the principles of the constitution.  The Democratic party should change it name to the Obama Party and the rest of us will definitely move on.  The amount of hypocrisy demonstrated toward and to anyone that does not agree with Obama supporters is outrageous.  Obama leadership appears to attract the dregs of society who personifies despical and viciousness toward anyone who is unwilling to accept the blatant incompetence and inexperience demonstrated by Obama. The type of overt attempt to intimidate educated and intelligent individuals who have not bought into the “change and hope” illusions is outright un-American.

Eh… you ARE following the result of the primaries?
For the thing is, Hillary and Bill and Chelsea are losing.
And they are losing from a black junior Senator from Illinois called Barack Hussein Obama.
Remarkable, isn’t it?
But – you said the Clintons know how to win, right?

Whatever reason that Moveonorg. began, the organization has morphed and changed into something else, something ugly and hateful, like Obama and his Rev. Wright. What did the other guy say, oh yeah, we have to fight a war against the Republicans to fight the war! Hypocrisy spun by self important hypocrites who don’t even know what they are fighting against. Do you want to keep the country safe from terrorists? Do you think sitting down with Hamas and other terrorists will bring peace?

When a Democrat attacks Democratic activist, you know that something is REALLY wrong.
More interesting, though, is that an independent study concluded that if the caucuses states were primary states, Obama would be even FURTHER ahead in the popular vote. So, caucus states actually hurt him. Imagine that.

Obama will lose Pennsylvania by 10 points at least, because the undecided voters will go for Clinton, like in Ohio & Texas. He will probably lose Indiana as well, notwithstanding the big African American vote in the Gary area, though by a slimmer margin. He’ll carry NC by 15 points or more, though.
If it wasn’t for Obama’s disproportionate and completely unrepresentative popularity among young voters and African Americans, he would have lost again Clinton some time ago. The Superdelegates and everybody else knows this.

The world is changing all around us. America’s traditional strengths are not going to give it the same abilities to prevail on the world economic stage in the future that it has had in the past. We have enjoyed a “head start” in the global economic race for the last 60 years, however that doesn’t us to maintain your position unless you are consistently at least as fast as the next fastest competitor.
Advances in technology, shipping, and financial instruments mean that the rest of the world doesn’t need as much assistance as they have in the past, and will need less in the future. Over the last years America has meted the significant resources to intimidation. In the new world, we will have to participate as citizens rather than overseers. Some lament the loss of the ability to force our will on others, but it will happen anyway.
America needs a president who knows that what we need to be able to do is communicate, participate, and see the big picture: that our efforts are best spent making everybody, throughout the world sufficiently safe and well off that unscrupulous leaders pleas will fall on deaf ears when they try to engage their citizens in religious or political zealotry.
It’s okay if people don’t agree with you. It’s their right. It’s even in our constitution. I don’t believe that Hillary is evil. I don’t believe that McCain is evil. I think that they both have an old-school model of how the world works that is becoming less and less relevant by the day, though.
I think that electing Barack Obama is our best hope for finding a new way to engage the rest of the world, so that we are not destroyed by our unreasonable confidence in some manifest superiority to other peoples throughout the world.

This much I will tell you, If Hillary is the choice against McCaine the Republicans will get the White House again in 2009. I think Obama has a much better change of defeating McCaine. You all can get all wound up about all this and continue your ‘jibber jabber’ but in the end It will be Obama for president. If McCaine makes the mistake of choosing Rice as his running mate to I think he is doomed to failure…I think Rice is the only woman in Washington who is disliked more than Hillary.

I just don’t understand how she’s ever hoping to get people to vote for her if she wins the nomination. Whenever she doesn’t get a vote, she seems to forsake ever getting them back.
She has so many insulting reasons that people didn’t vote her way, its like she’s always saying, “Fine, I don’t want your vote ANYWAY!”
This should concern you, Clinton supporters, cause she’ll need us in November if she makes it there.

Celeste Fremon says… Can anyone back up her quote?? She’s writing a book, and I wonder if she is making up this quote. Even if Hillary did say that, a lot of things can change in a year… Just like all the rest of us making comments, Hillary is entitled to her opinion, and people who change horses in the middle of the stream deserve to get wet. This doesn’t make me any less of a Hillary supporter, and if Hillary is not nominated I will write in her name on the ballot. The alternative of voting for McCain is just plain idiocy and a waste of a precious privilege to vote. I’m glad I’m not affiliated with ANY party whatsoever – I vote by the candidate, not by the party line, and I’m getting kind of disgusted with the democrats, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to vote for McCain – you don’t have to vote for who is printed on the ballot, you can write in your preferred candidate! Where are people’s minds – vote for McCain, what a cop out. Boo Hiss on McCain AND Obama.

P.
The point is that the US can’t make everybody better off. It’s not our job to do everything. “Going it alone” has been our problem for a while now.
We had the proof of what could have been in the first day’s after 9/11. The world was on our side and terrorists were the common enemy. After the current administration’s unilateral response, our support quickly diminished.
Cooperation requires patience, trust and faith, none of which have been hallmarks or US participation on the world stage for several years. Our country was founded on the principal that all men are created equal. And while I happily concede that that statement should include women, I won’t concede is that it only means Americans.
I feel much more solidarity with people of good will from around the globe than I do with frightened people from my home country who want to rely on “strength”, by which they mean their power to destroy, in order to make sure that they don’t have to experience anything unfamiliar.

Andy “This blog is just a waste of time. Just more nonsense from Obama haters and Hillary Supporters. I am so disgusted by you all I might just vote for McCain.”
Andy, that’s exactlty what Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos is about Check his site; it’s about dividing the Democrats as much as possible, attacking Obama as if one were a Hillary supporter, and vice versa. It’s Right Wing America, very active in blogs all over the web now, trying to use the old ‘divide and conquer’ strategy, trying to destroy the DEM opposition to McSame.
Every Democrat who says he or she will vote for McSame when HRC or BO will become the nominee is answered by Limbaugh’s and other conservative right wingers’ HOORAH! – for it will prove again that Operation Chaos is working.
So PLEASE think twice, sleep about it, think of 8 eight years Bush-Cheney, think of the war and our fellow Americans dying by the thousands in Iraq, and think again…

She went to her Caucus location to vote for her and was thrown out by Moveon people when they found out she was for HRC and NOT Obama why they wanted Obama to win that same story has been repeated over and over across the nation at every caucus why do you think he loves Caucuses only the only one he lost was Nevada simply because the Unions refused to left Moveon run the thiung they ran it instead.

Posted by: eddie | April 19, 2008, 4:12 pm 4:12 pm

i also quit moveon after many years of faithful service. i felt strongly that moveon should have waited until (all americans) had participated and then collectively support the winner from our party. at the time that i was sent the email to vote for a candidate i did choose hillary-however at the time i was still willing to support whoever won. that is no longer the case largely in part because of the collective assault on hillary by the (extreme left) which in many ways resemble the (religious right of the republican party). extremism in either direction is not representative of my political views. the formula being used by the left is the exact formula that the republicans used to elect gwb. shoving a candidate down the voters throat will only result in a weakened democratic party. what a pity this was our election to lose.

Posted by: sonia trevino | April 19, 2008, 4:14 pm 4:14 pm

Adam, I completely agree with you, and I certainly share your concerns about the Bush administration’s unilateralist approach that followed after 9/11. However, my only concern is that no candidate (neither Obama, nor Hillary and definitely NOT McCain) have offered a sound, comprehensive strategy to deal with what clearly is a different world. The differences in this regard between Obama and Hillary (beyond rhetoric) pale in comparison to the Republican agenda (and believe me, we are way better off with McCain than with some other warmongers on that side).

Rise, Clinton Supporters! Rise and take a stand — don’t waste all your time on these go nowhere blogs … take a few minutes away from here and write the Party instead!
Write the Democratic National Committee and tell them how you feel. Here is the link: http://www.democrats.org/
It’s clear that one-half of the Democratic Party needs to make the Party understand where you stand. Then tell your friends of like minds to do the same. Don’t let yourselves be overlooked or railroaded. Use the power of the written word to make a difference … which, on the blogs, it doesn’t … but if you write the Party, it will.
There are literally hundreds of Clinton supporters on this one blog alone … it is time to rally around your common cause … stand up and be counted! Tell your like-minded friends … if even 3 of your friends write the DNC and get 3 of their friends to write, [and on and on] you will have created a groundswell the DNC cannot ignore.
The Obama campaign has been successfully using this “blizzard” method on blogs, newspapers, etc. to great success and you can, too. Rise, friends of HRC, Rise and be counted!

P.
I find it particularly curious that someone running for president can say “I’m not very good at economics,” and not be laughed off the political stage.
Economics drives everything that politicians are supposed to be attending to while in office. This should have been a scandalous statement.
I agree that Hillary and Barrack’s positions are similar, and I wish that I had more than gut instinct to go off of in deciding between the two. I’m not someone who would shoot the country in the foot and vote Republican out of spite. I don’t think the current ratings being enjoyed by news outlets will encourage them to take a more substantive look at the candidates any time soon, though.

Democratic activists are key to democratic change within the party. With two successive losses the democrats have to win and they can only win if they put the best foot forward. They have to redefine patriotism; for the past eight years the Republicans have shoved down the throats of Americans their version of patriotism which is you are either a Republican or you are unpatriotic, you are either for war in Iraq or you are unpatriotic, you send someone else’s kids to fight the wars or you are unpatriotic, you either own a gun or your unpatriotic, you either wear a flag on your lapel or where it is that you want to wear it or you are unpatriotic, you pay as little tax as possible or you are unpatriotic. You get my drift. As an independent, I define patriotism as being loyal to America and its constitution, always fighting for the American spirit more than the symbolism. Above all my patriotism treasures all life on the planet(human, animal and plant)and the environment. Human rights freedom and peaceful coexistence are universal rights that every patriotic American should fight for. It is time to move America to the center and to the right values.

Wow so many unhappy Obama supporters. Well let me address the young people for Obama, you have no understanding of the nature of the political machine in Washington. As a matter of fact you have less understanding of politics in Chicago which is worst then Washington, if you did you would know all about how Obama is where he is today. His only real deal is he young with a hip hop mess. of youth. Hope, yes we can, Change, One voice can change a room, and the youth to the wave and rant OBAMA! Well my young fellow democrat better looks what,s behind the curtain with the Obama campaign it won,t be the wizard of Oz!And when all that hoola goes away and if he get elected you be left holding the C.D. as you watch him drive away with your future singing, typical white people what you gonna do,what you gonna do after I con you. Listen my fellow young Democrats their are a lot more people behind Obama that you don,t see that pull the strings if you knew anything about politics you,ed understand this but you don,t so keep singing if you think that gonna get you somewhere. Here a simple question for you to ask yourself, What has Sen. Obama done for his own district and Chicago since he been in office? After signing up a few people up for church their really not a whole lot there. But hey if you think he can change politics in Wash. Keep right on singing.

I will not vote for Obama no matter what. It’s no black/white issue. It’s an issue of at least during the last Clinton presidency we had a good economy. And, with Obama’s real self being shown now, a lot of his past votes should be voided, because these people will never vote for him in a general election.
If the news media had been fair and unbiased before the last few weeks…Obama would not be where he is in the polls now.

Hillary needs to explain why she was on the board of THE NEW WORLD FOUNDATION who funded the P.L.O., a known terrorist organization in the 80s.
They gave her $50,000.00 and she hosted events for this group in the White House!
Would she really stoop that low for power and money?

Fox news broke the story that Hillay has ties to The New World Foundation dating back to the 80s. She was a boardmember of this organization that funded money into the PLO-a terrorist organization.
In the 90s, Hillary hosted parties for them in the White House and they donated up $50,000 to her!
Why isn’t this being reported on?

The folks voting for Obama are the Nintendo DS Generation. They are simply kids with hardly any understanding what politics is all about. They are excerising their right to vote, but are they excersising it wisely? I don’t know that they are. And I’m referring to the age group between 18 and 35. I strongly believe that one doesn’t come to an understanding of life itself until he/she turns 35 and has had some experience raising a family, has held a career, has spent paying their fair share of taxes, etc. The indivuals between 18 and 35, mostly Obama supporters by a high margin, are voting on emotion and not reason; failing to understand that their vote will impact the lives of the men and women in uniform who are fighting at this very moment for the very right they’ll be excersising in November. Understand this young ones, you will be voting for a man who has promised to defang our country, an unpatriotic stooge, an aloof. Wake up before it is too late. Your right that you’ll be excersising this November may be your last, if the man you vote for wins.
Is anybody familiar with viral marketing? This is exactly how Obama is being sold to the masses. And unfortunately, you all are buying it.

OBAMA LIES AGAIN Hillary Clinton never voted for the Brankruptcy Bill of 2005. Hillary Clinton was the sole Senator not voting on the bill, due to the fact that Bill Clinton had heart surgery that day. From Senator Clinton’s official statement on the bill:This bankruptcy bill fundamentally fails to accord with the traditional purposes of bankruptcy, which recognize that we are all better off when hard-working people who have suffered financial catastrophe get a “fresh start” and a second chance to become productive and contributing members of society. With the passage of this legislation, which makes obtaining this fresh start more expensive and more difficult, we are ensuring that many responsible Americans will continue to be buried under mountains of debt, and unable to take back control and responsibility for their lives. In the days before S.256 was finally brought to the floor Senator Clinton voted for every amendment which would have added consumer protections to the bankruptcy bill. Amendments which were repeatedly rejected by both the Republican majority and far too many Democrats. She even voted against cloture in an attempt to keep the final bill from coming to a vote at all.Several commentors correctly noted that Hillary Clinton supported the earlier bill (although she voted for amendments adding consumer protections in that bill as well). She wasn’t the only Democrat to change her position (voting for the 2001 bill and against the 2005 bill) and I’m not qualified to compare the differences between them. However, several articles have discussed her change of position, including this recent article in the NYTimes. For what it’s worth, Democratic Senators Akaka, Cantwell, Dorgan, Feinstein, Leahy, Levin, Lieberman, Mikulski, Murray, Nelson (Fl), Schumer and Wyden switched in the same direction as Clinton. John Edwards, who also voted for the 2001 bill, suggested he would have switched his vote as well.

This country is not about a flag pin; it’s not about a flag; it is about a citizens right to burn that flag in protest. Anyone who thinks wearing a flag pin makes them patriotic is sick. It’s like a baby that cries, not because it’s hurts, but because it wants others to think it hurts. This country is about the right of a person to get up and put forth an opinion that others might totally disagree with, and you have the right to protest it . That is what America is about, that is what we should celebrate. Our military fights for our Constitutional right to burn that flag if we wish. It’s called freedom of speech. The right to express ourselves any way we wish.

Look at the voters evaluation of the last debate. I can tell you that the extremists, the Left wing of the democrates are determined to baffle the public to believe that they are the majority.
The ties of OBAMA with middle East, the Left-Wing, are together with the Black who are misled to vote for him because they think he is a brother.
The nuclear bombs button and the national security are going to be in the hands of these group.
The superdelegates are designed for this situation. OBAMA slander and twist the meanings, taking people out of context, making rallies with college kids, and liberals are going to turn this country into chaos. OBAMA has virtually untested and be given a free ride by this group.
Wake up America, before it is too late.

SLANDER, SMEARING, DISTORTION, MASSIVE BULLYING IN ELECTION. THE 30,000 RALLY IN PHILADELPHIA. THE ACTIVISTS IS GOING TO STEAL THE WHITE HOUSE WITH CAREFUL PLANNING.
The liberal activists, the Left-wing in the party is so VERY powerful NOW. They swamp the internet, the media, making up new rules for OBAMA to get him elected. There is substance for a conspiracy. The media is not giving a scrutiny to this candidate, OBAMA, that they should fo ror the safety of this country, the world and every American.

Posted by: John_Lai | April 19, 2008, 6:19 pm 6:19 pm

What is that nonsense about Liberal stealing the white house?
We are talking about an election here. It would be great if a liberal was running but there isn’t any. They all got defeated early on. We are left with two centrist. One young man who started from nothing and succeeded, he just finished paying his student loan.
And we have another one who started as a republican but then switched to the democratic party about at the time when hell broked loose in the republican party (Nixon’s crimes)
Do you actually know what liberal means?
1. showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; “a broad political stance”; “generous and broad sympathies”; “a liberal newspaper”; “tolerant of his opponent’s opinions” [syn: broad]
2. having political or social views favoring reform and progress
3. tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition

OBAMA did not grow up in Kansas. He went to the most expensive prep school in Hawaii. He spent part of his childhood in Indonesia. The closest he gets to a slum at that stage is Columbia University. He then goes to Harvard Law School and becomes the top-ranking person, editor of the law review.
This guy has the perfect liberal elitist scorn for middle America. He is out of touch with rural Americans and try to cover up with RHETORICS.
The pope’s final words, “God bless America,” were a remarkable difference from the words we’ve heard from Jeremiah Wright.
Senator Obama was comfortable with somebody who had been a terrorist and who had bombed American government buildings.
Senator Obama is comfortable in San Francisco, treating with scorn the people of small-town America, and it’s almost like there are two Obamas. There’s Obama the rock star performer who’s disciplined, optimistic, inclusive, and then there’s this other Obama who is a very, very different person.
The news media in America has failed us, because they failed to SCRUTINY/investigate somebody who would be the president of the United States.
And they covered the rock star speeches. And they covered the chanting, “Yes, we can,” and “change, change, change.” but they never did any scrutiny as it relates to the background of Barack Obama.
And when questioned for the first time, now they attack George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson. Why it took a year.
Here’s a guy who participates in Farrakhan’s march, hangs out with a known, explicit terrorist who has bombed American government buildings, and didn’t hear his preacher for 20 years condemn America.
For a very long time nobody could ask any tough questions and it was somehow inappropriate to treat Senator Obama as though he was like any other presidential candidate. He was somehow on a pedestal, and he was different.
When the acid test came in the Pennsylvanian debate, OBAMA showed that he can only answer standard questions about standard issues in the election. He was weak and disdain in tough REAL questions.

The Clinton Campaign has played dirty politics so much that they make the RNC look like Girl Scouts. Initially I and many of my friends supported Sen. Clinton until we could not take it anymore. Being honest is a necessary attribute and when someone is dishonest is not that’s a real issue for some of us.
Sen. Clinton’s very words about Bosina was, “some would call it a revelation.” She laughed then she laughed when her Campaign Manager mande $300,000 on the Columbina she laughed when President Clinton made $800,000 on the Cloumbia deal the very trade deals that she says she’s against. Her Campaign manager we find out is still on the payroll. Contrary to what she said on the debate she NEVER APOLOGIZED before that night.
Senator Clinton is a Career Politician and has been in Washington many, many years. The Recession happened on her WATCH. Why then would we believe that the very folk that let the Recession happen can fix it? If she can fix it now why didn’t she Prevent it?
My spouse had to really talk to me about voting for someone economic times we are experiencing now happen on their watch.
My spouse and family talked to me about Sen. Clinton asking for a Promotion for Poor Performance. My spouse asked me if I were willing to throw our children’s futures away on business as usual and casting my vote for the very Senator among others that we paid with our hard earned money to Prevent this. Now she has the nerve to ask the Voters for a Promotion. I was blinded very, very, badly BLINDED by the Washington and have been for a long time.
After our discussion I thought about my family and other families who are struggling to pay high gas prices, loosing their homes, high food prices, loosing their pensions, soldiers who are our heroes and their families struggling after giving us their best just to make ends meet. I thought about the Walter Reed Issue and the horrible conditions our disabled heroes endured while the folk in Washington just sat and sat. Someone else had to bring this to their attention. I thought about the Pending GI Bill which will give our heroes more to support their families, it’s not the best but it’s better than what they have and Sen. McCain who is standing strong on the war will not support the bill to help the very heroes that he hails each and every day. Action truly speaks louder than words.
These very same long-term experienced Senators are now asking us to believe that they can fix this Recession yet they sat on the sideline and let this happen to hard working families and our heroes. Are they experiencing this while making over $100M I think not? They are not one of us by any measure of the imagination! Its called walk a mile in my shoes! Many have been in Washington and have gotten far too comfortable while we pay their checks. They would not give hard working American families a raise in the minimum wage for 8 years, yet they voted themselves a raise continually with our hard earned tax dollars.
If some folk want to throw away their economic interest to the same folk who this happened on their watch so be it, but I love my family too much and my children and care about their future far too much to trust yet again, again and again.
This is not a VOTERS BICKEARING CONTEST about who we like the best it’s about making a difference in our lives and putting our families and our precious children first!
So This time I am proud to say I am voting for CHANGE!
GOD BLESS AMERICA

I treasure the freedom of being a truly free person who do not impose, but live peacefully until OBAMA comes who try to hypnotize the people to make hismself look like the SAVIOUR of politics while he was close to the mud/dirt of politics.
OBAMA is such a hypocrite that anyone with a free will should be against.
Twisting meanings of words for verbal arguemnts to present his case would not help make him a mockery of liberalism.

Posted by: John_Lai | April 19, 2008, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm

Actually the correct definitions would be…
If a conservative is a liberal who’s been mugged then a liberal is a conservative who’s been raped.
The term conservative has now been made synonomous with the term Horde~ as in horde all the power and wealth and all the best education money can privilege to you. And the word liberal has been made synonomous with the word irresponsible, and if you need me to define the term irresponsible you must be that liberal kid that the conservative kid’s father denied an adequate education to because his sports program was more important than oyur shop program or literature program or music program or science and engineering program.

Yet despite Hillary giving it her best shot in what might have been their final debate, interviews on Thursday with a cross-section of these superdelegates — members of Congress, elected officials and party leaders — showed that none had been persuaded much by her attacks on Mr. Obama’s strength as a potential Democratic nominee, his recent gaffes and his relationships with his former pastor and with a onetime member of the Weather Underground.

In the wake of 9/11, Hillary Clinton’s response to a question The New Yorker’s Nick Lemann posed is simply jaw-dropping.
In the context of the World Trade Center massacre, he asked her “how she thought people would react to knowing they are on the receiving end of a murderous anger.”
Clinton’s reply: “Oh I am well aware that it is out there. One of the most difficult experiences I personally had in the White House was during the health-care debate, being the object of extraordinary rage.” She talks about hecklers and the threat of violence and the rhetoric spewed by radio talk show hosts.
I’ve no doubt these things hurt. But to equate that with the murder of thousands of innocent people by terrorists is simply deranged. Or rather, it’s just another sign that this woman adds whole universes of meaning to the word narcissism.
Even after a massacre, it’s still all about her.

Hillary praised McCain on National T.V., if she recieved the Nomination, wouldnt she be running against McCain, then why praise him.Because she dont care if McCain or her Win.Could she be a undercover Republican? She didnt want to release her Tax-Info for months, maybe thats because she didnt want American Voters to see she is Richer then Rich! NAFTA, Bill was for it, do you really believe then Hillary is against it? I think not!Hillary just days ago was taking shots of Whisky on the News, what kinda message is she sending our kids? Hillary has lied time and time again during this race for the Democratic Nominee. Hillary doesnt sound like a change to me! Vote Obama lets bring a Real Change to America.

‘SLANDERING AND VERBAL DISTORTION’ This is how Obama wants to get him elected as president.
He has made a great mistake to stop the revote of Florida and Michigan for his election campaign. He disable the democratic processes to elect a candidate.
OBAMA campaign suggests to split the delegates of these two STATES. They treat the American voters like things that has right to nominate a candidate. That is gravely wrong. I am disappointed that LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES would let that happen.
It is truly a disgrace to democracy. That is very unAmerican treating people like things to be manipulated. Remember this guy and his campaign, people from FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN, the democratic party did you a great fraud. You don’t have to put up with it. You have every right to be bitter for your liberty, and for your intrinsic values that should never be sacrificed by politics. Any individual is as important as the party and deserved to be respected.

Posted by: candy | April 19, 2008, 7:36 pm 7:36 pm

The division in the party isn’t the candidates’ fault – they’re doing what candidates do. It isn’t the voters’ fault – they’re allowed to be divided. Democracy is a good thing right? But too little in this primary has been about democracy.
The DNC has caused it, with not only this FL and MI nightmare, but what Dean is doing right now, in trying to stifle the voices of the remaining voters. The media is doing it, by taking sides, slanting coverage, and focusing almost exclusively on rubbish. And the powerful democratic political action groups and other organizations, like moveon.org, dailykos, democraticundergroud, etc. are doing it, by only furthering the agenda of half the party and spitting in the face of the other half. Folks, remember these are the very people who keep saying this primary is divisive and must be ended! NO, THEY DON’T DECIDE ELECTIONS, WE DO! If we give our power to them, we’ll never get it back!

OBAMA campaign is solely responsible to stop the revote of Michigan and Florida. Obama campaign formally suggest to split the pledged delegates and treat voters there like THINGS.
I did not put words into OBAMA campaign like what they do to others.
The mere suggestion of spliting the pledged delegates in an inflamatory suggestion with no regard to democracy and people’s choice. How difficulat is the revote. It can’t be proceed without the consent of OBAMA campaign. The country cries for revote and politician volunteer to raise funds. OBAMA is determined to shut up the voice of MICHIGAN and Florida with record turnouts of voters.
Voters from Michigan and Florida, you should know your right and raise hell to the party and OBAMA.
Down with the party if they don’t respect your right to select your candidate. Down with any collaborates who make the idea real too. Fight for your rights which I render it intrinsically simple and necessary for democracy.
The party making up new rules for election should be held responsible for their wrong doings. The democratic party should be held accountable for their mistakes. OBAMA is a collaborate to go along with the party’s decision; this does not make him less accountable.

IF YOU ARE WILLING TO THROW YOUR OWN PARTY UNDER THE BUS THEN THINK ABOUT WHY!!!! THINK ABOUT THIS QUOTE:
“EVERY” single American has a “Drinking Well” on their “Property”….
Symbolically speaking:: The “Property” being the BODY…..The “Drinking Well” being the HEART. What exactly… is in “YOUR” well ???
VOTE DEMOCRAT!

Posted by: Lauren | April 19, 2008, 8:09 pm 8:09 pm

The fact is that the party is going to base their decision on nomination without FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN. Many democrates are going along with this absurd idea.
WHOEVER collaborates with this idea is sick. This is wrong. OBAMA does not see anything wrong with this. He is VERY sick.
What rules!!! Rules are for the people and People are not MADE for rules. It is rules and decisions like that which do away democracy.

Fl and Mi delegates will be seated when the nomiee is decided. The DNC has rules that those states broke. I’m not saying I agree but rules are rules and shouldn’t be changed midstream. And a revote would be unfair in Mi since it’s an open primary

Posted by: candy | April 19, 2008, 8:20 pm 8:20 pm

Any political party who violates your inalienable right of votes is not worthy of your support, be it Repubic or Democrate.
Hold the party accountable and vote against them in the general election. This is the issue and principal of ultimate importance above anything else.
People are not made for the party. People don’t live for the party. The party is made of individuals which mandate respect and equality in rights and dignity. Anything less shall be a step towards communism.

The FBI is in Texas taking depositions about the caucuses. My guess is they will have enough evidence of the thug tactics used by the Obama campaign just in time for the November election, if Obama is the Democratic nominee. The DNC just keeps committing political suicide trying to shove this guy down our throats. Millions of Americans saw the debates, then saw how many in the mainstream media twisted things to suit their own agenda after the debate. Finally!! Thanks, Charlie and George and ABC for a fair debate – it’s not your fault Obama just falls apart without a speech or a teleprompter in front of him.

O come on, stop that BS. I know that MoveOn has about 4 million AMERICAN members/adherents. MANY more MILLIONS of AMERICANS support Barack Obama. How could there be anything UN-American about them? It is not you or Hillary or the GOP or Obama or anyone else who defines what is ‘American’. A totality does. Anything or anyone in this country that has the support of millions of Americans can only be VERY American. McCain and Hillary and Obama are ALL VERY AMERICAN. So are you and I.

Granny Barb….I havent heard this about the FBI investigating Obama’s practices during the Texas caucus’. Right then, many said that Obama’s campaign was up to something….it was a very “eerie” feeling there. Could you elaborate about the FBI’s investigation?

I am truly shocked by what I understood from the transcript that someone posted in this thread, the conversation with Ferraro.
As the New York Senator, Hillary Clinton did not attend ANY of the funerals after 9/11 nor did she visit ANY of the thousands of New York families who were devastated by their personal loss in this disaster.
Isn’t that amazing, and shocking? I never knew that. It’s even hard to believe, but Ferraro -speaking for Hillary- seems to confirm it.
What shocks ne as well is Ferraro’s blunt explanation that she was ‘too busy’ with her Senate work. But that’s not a 7/7 office job. And for Christ’s sake, Hillary was the New York Senator!
Unbelievable.

I really fail to see how this is an “attack” – I think you are reaching for the sake of trying to create a story when there really isn’t one.
It is well known that MoveOn, as a far Left group, and Hillary, as a Left-of-Center politician, have not usually gotten along. That she is recognizing they are an obstacle for her should not be surprising to anybody.
This is a non-story.

Right on Roxanne! You hit the nail right on the head that time. I am so sick of all the bickering and back biting. If Hillary can win folks, let her win. The people have spoken and continue to speak. You can’t tell people who to vote for. Hillary had her chance. The people have taken a look at her and decided that she is not good enough. You can’t make people do anything. That is what’s so great about being an American. You get to vote for whom you want to vote for. Why are you people so angry. If you want to vote for Hillary, vote for her, but, let those of us who want to vote for Obama or whomever we want to vote for vote. This bickering and name calling is sickning. I am sick of it all. The country is in a mess and all we can do is tear each other down on the internet because we have differences of opinions. Let the people speak by whom they vote for. May the best man or woman win. Pat:

I also agree with you. We do have the right to burn the flag. I will fight to the death your right to do so.
My president should not be doing so. My children should not EVER witness their president showing disdain for our flag.
Please quit trying to defend this one thing. It is sickening, really.

Halliburton has the LARGEST PROFITS, in it’s company portfolio, WHY?
All of these things have happen with what is being called “AMERICAN PRIDE”.

Yes, it has been noted that Bill & Hillary became instant heroes when they landed in Bosnia and were surrounded by snipers. Yes, their imagination got them through.
But what bother”s me is the inconvenient truth about the Clinton DECISIONS that matter. October 3 – 4 – 1993 – 3 AM Call to White House – Ambush American Troops in Mogadishu Blackhawk Down. 18 US soldiers are killed & 84 are wounded.
Clinton”s decides to cut his loses. Declares that American troops are to be fully withdrawn from Somalia by March 31 1994. The hunt for Aidid is abandoned.
Clinton”s response to Rwandan Genocide. During this time Clinton changed his position in China. Whereby he basically authorized an extention of the “most favored nation” trading status with China without any human rights conditions, which he imposed a year earlier before the illegal Chinese contributions started coming in to their rainy day fund.
The Rwandans were Poor Africans didn”t have much to offer. It was relatively easy for Clinton to make the DECISION to look the other way in order to work on his “most favored trading nation” Agenda for China. SO SAD!
I was against it before I voted for it. These are the kinds of Clinton Decisions & Statements that are scary. Because it can/will happen again if we let it.

According to Chris Matthews, who has a serious man crush on Obama, if Hillary doesn’t win PA by 10 points, she loses! Wow. That is some kind of spin by the George Soros owned and moveonorg. owner of the MSNBC network. If Hillary wins PA she loses? That is Obama’s politics of change? Ha,ha,ha,ha! Only Obama would have the audacity to claim victory when he loses. Only Obama would have the audacity to claim victory for the nomination when he doesn’t have the necessary 2025 pledged delegates to win the nomination. Only Obama would have the audacity to claim victory of the nomination without allowing the votes of MI and FL to count. That is called STEALING THE ELECTION! Since the Republicans did it in 2000, moveonorg. and Obama thinks it’s okay to do to a fellow democrat and her supporters. Say hello to President McCain!!!

if we want to talk about bho and his patriotism, perhaps we need discuss where his patriotism lies. unlike ANY potential president in at least the last two centuries, bho has dual citizenship–he is a citizen of kenya and the usa. seems kind of difficult to imply that as president you will swear to uphold our constitution and pledge your allegiance to the country, when you have a second country you are also pledging allegiance to.

The reality of America.
I HAVE AWAKENED
I and many of my sisters and brethren have awakened. We awoke to find ourselves as slaves to the few bloodlines that govern and rule our world. Everything we have held near and dear to our souls are but illusions. I once believed a good work ethic and a strong, faithful belief in the Christian doctrine was enough to forge a well-lived productive life producing offspring to further mankind’s achievements toward a more perfect world….. I was wrong, we were deceived.
Our monetary value, (our assets), are dwindling everyday. Our currency used to be backed by a precious metal, (gold), so the currency would hold value equal to the amount of gold divided by the amount of currency in the system. The privately owned beauacracy, (The Federal Reserve),which loans the currency to our Government at interest, decided that they did not need to back our dollar with anything. They proceeded to print more currency to provide short term patches for the downward spiral of value of the American dollar. The powers that be have driven up the National debt to unbelievable amounts. This will drive America to the brink of economic disaster. Our children and our children’s children will be paying this debt for many generations.
I believe this to be part of a much larger agenda.
Anyone who has studied history can see a perpetual drive to enslave the masses for profit.
What better tool for enslavement then perpetual debt?
We are brainwashed into thinking we must work and keep working to achieve financial wealth. When we realize money is only an illusion we will achieve a spiritual awakening and see that it is all an illusion. Sporting events, video games, movies, clothing style, celebrities, television, are all put in place to distract us so we do not know we are slaves.
But the fact remains, we ARE wage-slaves.
Perpetual debt is continuing to destroy America. Tent cities are popping up all across America, people forced to be homeless because of falling behind on their debt. Businesses are failing propelling many hard-working Americans into the street.
A short time ago I still believed in America and the American way. I registered to be a republican so I could vote for a man who I thought had the answers to stop this enslavement. I joined the Republican Party and I went to the caucus where I was elected to be a delegate for my precinct in my District. I soon received a letter requesting me to attend the House District Convention to vote for delegates to the State Convention, (registration fee $50.00). I soon realized that I would pay $50.00 for the privilege of voting for State Delegates that may or may not vote for my candidate. I began to research the election process in America, what I found astounded me.
Super delegates are not elected but appointed.
The choices for who will become president is already decided well before elections. The Elite ruling class calls all the shots. If you are a normal working joe your son or daughter will NEVER become President of The United States.
The American dream is only a dream. The reality of America is a nightmare. I have just recently awakened to realize the full reality of life in this world.
The world outreach organizations have declared that for 54 million dollars a year we could sufficiently nourish all the hungry people of this world. The United States funding estimates for the war on terror this year is $687.9 billion. Staying in Iraq is costing 10 million dollars a month.
I believe if we feed the starving people of the world it would do more to curb terrorist acts than bombing other countries. But, what do I know…I am just a wage-slave.
I wish I could go back to believing in the dream. But, I have awakened and now I am suffering from insomnia and I do not believe I will ever sleep again.

Moveon org is the ultrabranch of the Democratic party….it was not reflective of the entire party.
I guess as Hillary’s supporters move towards McCain we will be called the Reluctant Republicans
Hey Jake has anyone written lately about how much of the Democratic party base feels that we are being abandoned by our party? I am doubtful that the new Democrats will come in large enough numbers to replace us.
The Republicans have already started to see the shift.
There’s little things. For instance fox news has been increasing views becasue of the unbearable bias against Clinton in this election. And as a response to fox’s “new’ audience they are moving to the middle. On the other hand MSNBC and CNN have gone totally left of center where at least CNN used to be.
There is a lot more going on than the pundits are stirring up. There’s a lady from Slate I think that tried to tell Tim russert that this was a serious trend before he shut her up.
We have so many pundits and so many people analysing this election…why doesn’t someone tell this story?

I love the “Note” for political coverage, but the incompetence of your organization at such a visible moment makes me question your seriousness as a media institution with public responsibilities. Gibson, and Stephi and whoever is in charge of them have made you a corrosive joke. I was at the Texas causcus’s and you are 100% right. The obama supporters bullied and lambasted some even had illegal signatures of people who weren’t there. It was a fiasco and no one will do anything about it.
Another thing that noone wants to mention is that Obama’s attorneys kept the polls open in predominantly Black districts in Ohio claiming that they had run out of ballots. It was proven to be a lie….but it made a major difference in allowing extra Obama votes…kind of like the Nevada caucus where Hillary voters were being intimidated by their Obama bosses in the casinos.

MoveOn: I don’t like the organization, the fact that they endorsed a candidate, or the fact that they seem to be welded in place behind the blue curtain. If they want to represent us, they can get on a bus and take a tour of America.
But this isn’t only about MoveOn. It’s also about a candidate who attacked an organization which was FORMED to support her family, and was pretty successful. She attacked them behind closed doors, in a private meeting. I heard an awful lot of outrage about that a couple of weeks ago about Obama and it is hypocritical to blast Obama but not Hillary. And I have people all over California, and no one remembers Hillary peeping a single word about MoveOn when she wanted blue votes in the California primary. She was Wellesley Hillary then, not second-shift Hillary (with $100M in the bank).
Second, I don’t buy this baloney that MoveOn is swooping out of their Berkeley Hills sanctuary, and scaring Grandma in caucuses in Iowa and Texas. And I don’t remember a single peep from the Clintons or from the Clinton campaign in 92 or 96 about the injustice of the caucus process. They are whining because they lost.
Last thing – I think this is classic Hillary – use a person or an organization as long as they serve your political purpose – and throw them to the wolves once you’ve gotten what you need. The woman is ruthless – and that is not a good quality in a leader of any organization. Count the number of people who were in the Clinton administration who are not with Hillary – who are either neutral or for Obama. Name an administration with a comparable record. What was that great line from Edwards on Steven Colbert? I’d vote for Obama but I’m afraid Carville will bite me? Carville is loyal – as long as you pay him enough.

Americans didn’t like the Republican’s dirty politics when Clinton was president and we don’t like it anymore know. The Clintons are behind the times in understanding that Americans want a clean, decisive break from the Bush presidency. We don’t want mudslinging and debates about lapel pins. We want discussion of the critical issues. We want someone with enough courage to have opposed the war from the beginning. We want someone who understands how far working Americans have been set back over the last eight years. If the Clintons understood all that, they wouldn’t be crowing about their great Rovian mud wrestling technique. They’d be blasting McCain and focused on policies to reverse the damage of the last eight years instead of trashing a fellow Democrat.

A few if the more salient lies by Hillary Clinton.
1. Bosnia lie. A real elaborate WHOPPER.
2. Half of the 10% charity into their “Family Foundation”
3. Distortion of pregnant woman’s story in Ohio
4. Mark Penn’s involvement with Colombian officials
5. Constantly playing the victim and gender card
6. “As far as I know” comment
7. Labeling Richardson as a traitor
8. Trying to BUY votes by threatening Pelosi
9. Stirring up Wright issue to deflect her Tuzla LIE
10. Continually playing up that McCain is a better CIC and a patriot than Obama
She should tell Bill that if he experiences an erection lasting more than three days he
should contact his doctor immediately.

Posted by: jbate | April 19, 2008, 11:19 pm 11:19 pm

Hillary is the grande dame of liars. Her elaborate Tuzla story was not just a lie, it was an elaborate whopper. She lied about her supposed opposition to NAFTA; she lied about being against the Iraq war before Barack. If she was so opposed to the Colombian Free Trade agreement, why didn’t she “reject and denounce” the portion of the $800.000, inured to her benefit as a matter of law. She could have donated it to some of the Americans who are deprived of jobs as a result of these trade agreements.

And his new BFF is Bush senior and his intent now is just to make money. Bill, if you experience that last more than three days seek medical attention immediately.

Does Hillary’s Universal Health Care plan actually means that Hillary cares about the American people?
As the New York Senator, Hillary did not visit ANY of the New York funerals of the thousands who died in the attacks, nor did she visit even ONE of the thousands of New York families who were devastated by their personal losses.
So much for Hillary’s care!

He really is the only one who has come along in many, many years that offers an alternative from the same old, same old. He is the only reason anyone outside your country is interested in the election. It really boggles one’s mind. As for duel citizenship – are you sure. Posted by: Mack | April 19, 2008, 11:44 pm 11:44 pm

Pat: This isn’t complicated. The ABC debate was a travesty – and Americans from every political path have agreed on that in papers across the country. Editor & Publisher is pretty mainstream, and this is their full quote:
“In perhaps the most embarrassing performance by the media in a major presidential debate in years, ABC News hosts Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous focused mainly on trivial issues as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama faced off in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.” I read the transcripts.” My high school daughter could have come up with more relevant and intelligent questions.
Politico was certainly started by experienced reporters, but every blog depends on hits for its existence and reputation and usually the more inflammatory the rhetoric, the higher the response. Politico definitely takes that route. It’s unfortunate – partly because it fuels a lot of hatred and sheer lunacy and partly because people post endless lies, and those lies are repeated so often that people start to believe them. Count the number on this site tonight alone. The network censors profanity, or any discussion of the network, but outright slander is just fine.

Posted by: mara | April 19, 2008, 11:45 pm 11:45 pm

The war in Iraq is the single most outrageous and despicable political action since Vietnam.  If we can’t cleanly and soundly renounce Bush and his war, we’re bound to repeat the same mistakes of the last eight years.  We can’t renounce Bush and vote for Hillary. She went along with Bush and the good old boys to authorize the war in 2002. 15 to 20 Senators had the foresight and courage to take a stand against war. Obama had the courage to stand up and speak out when opponents to the war were being called unpatriotic. That was the most critical vote of the last 8 years and Hillary used bad judgment. Look at the result of that vote.

Posted by: Mac819 | April 19, 2008, 11:47 pm 11:47 pm

No travesty. These are the questions that most people would like real answers to. I know the far left is fine with his background, but most Americans aren’t. He is running for President after all. He only has 50% of Dems and unless he starts answering questions, most Clinton supporters aren’t going to just fall in line and blindly vote for him if he wins the nomination.

Posted by: Mack | April 19, 2008, 11:51 pm 11:51 pm

Mack: Can’t agree with your statement: “the far left is fine with Obama’s background but most Americans are not.” ABC evening news has been reporting night after night that Obama is most popular with young people and independents. I haven’t heard anything to connect those groups with “the far left”. Young people haven’t been connected to the “far left” since the 60s.

Posted by: Mac819 | April 20, 2008, 12:00 am 12:00 am

sharon,
yes i am sure of the dual citizenship. the issue went to the supreme court(not regarding presidential candidates) and they said it is okay for citizens to have dual citizenship, however, it was frowned upon.

Posted by: pp | April 20, 2008, 12:08 am 12:08 am

Mack: That’s baloney. Maybe that’s what you wanted to hear – whether Obama wore a flag pin made in China or “If he loved America as much as his pastor did,” but I’ve read thousands of responses from people all over the country on the ABC debate – and I’m not talking about pundits. I hate pundits. I mean real people – and not just Obama supporters. They were furious about how silly the debate was. Do you really think most Americans mae enough on capital gains that Charlie Gibson needed to spend 10 minutes on it? Talk about elitist.
But I agree with you – the Democrats are in a world of hurt. I know Obama people aren’t going to vote for Hillary and Hillary people aren’t going to vote for Obama. So it looks like McCain is our next president and it looks like I don’t get health care and we’re in for endless war, our country is gonna be mortgaged to the Chinese, and thousands of Americans kids are going to die to establish an Shite Muslim government (while everyone is freaking out that Obama might be Muslim). Mark Penn had a strategy – it was not just to attack the opponent, but to attack the opponent’s supporters too. It looks like it worked a little too well. Or maybe it’s the same old story of the Democrats cannibalizing each other again.

Posted by: Mara | April 20, 2008, 12:09 am 12:09 am

clinton and the other senators that voted for the legislation regarding iraq, were under the impression from bush that he would exhaust ALL avenues prior to war, which were to include letting the folks looking for wmd complete their investigation and soliciting the help of the un. bush did neither of those things and went to war.
it is easy for some one to speak out against the legislation when they did not have to vote on it…or vote present. it is another thing to have had to think through the process and vote. the senators at the time were also given inaccurate information regarding the iraq’s, et al, from which to make their decision.

Posted by: pp | April 20, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

Good luck trying to get the “values voters” that voted for Bush over an actual war hero. His main support is far left and black voters whether they are young or claim to be independents, who knows. He may have started out with broader appeal, but as his background started to emerge it has turned a lot of people off. Including the Clinton Dems that he will definitely need in the GE.

Posted by: Mack | April 20, 2008, 12:17 am 12:17 am

PP:
You haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about. The United States government does NOT recognize dual citizenship. As a matter of fact, the oath applicants for citizenship to the United States require that they “renounce allegiance to any other country. Other countries may recognize “dual citizenship” but not the Unites States.

Posted by: jbate | April 20, 2008, 12:19 am 12:19 am

jgaw: you have no idea how true your statement is. I know for a FACT that if Obama is the nominee, McCain will win California. And I wouldn’t be surprise if McCain wins by double digit in California. Here are some FACTs that all Obama supporters should worry about. The Hispanic and Asian communities in California makes up 48% of the states population. That’s right let me repeat that in case you missed it, THE HISPANIC AND ASIAN COMMUNITIES MAKES UP 48% OF CALIFORNIA’S POPULATION. These 2 groups HATES Obama. Any other year, these 2 groups largely vote Democrat, that’s why Republicans have a hard time winning California. But this year their hatred for Obama will cause them to switch. I got all this information from powerful people I know within those communities. There is little Obama can do because these 2 groups speaks very little English. Therefore how is Obama going to communicate the message of change and hope if they can’t understand him. So the million dollar question is: can a Democrat win the White House without winning California? Unlikely!!

Posted by: flex6100 | April 20, 2008, 12:26 am 12:26 am

Obama made a choice 20 years ago, for whatever reason, to join a black separatist church. Whether he did it to ingratiate himself to the black community or did it because he is firm believer in the principles of his church, only he knows. But that decision pretty much ended his chance of ever becoming President. He may win the battle, but he has already lost the war.

Total nonsense. First it should be mentioned that that idiot Hillary did not even read the Intelligent Report. Secondly, the title of legislation was “Authority to Invade Iraq.” How much clearer could it be for that idiot. Since then, she has also signed legislation authorizing the president to invade Iran. She has also signed legislation designation the “Presidential Guard of Iran as a “terrorist organization. Face it. Clinton is much like Bush: she never saw a war she didn’t like.

If you have been a dual citizen from birth or childhood, or else became a citizen of another country after already having US citizenship, and the other country in question does not have any laws or regulations requiring you to formally renounce your US citizenship before US consular officials, then current US law unambiguously assures your right to keep both citizenships for life.

jbate,
i do not care what you taught. if a person comes here to be a citizen, THEN they must denounce the other country and swear allegiance here, otherwise it is okay. for example, if a bay is born of american parents in another country they are us citizens, and often citizens of that country too. before you rant on check your facts. YOU ARE WRONG.

Posted by: pp | April 20, 2008, 1:02 am 1:02 am

jbate, read it and weep. “Many dual-citizenship situations result from the interaction of two countries’ implementations of ius soli and/or ius sanguinis in their respective citizenship laws. For example, a child might acquire the citizenship of the country in which he was born (via ius soli), and also the citizenship of his parents’ country (via ius sanguinis), and as a result start life as a dual citizen.” Immigration and naturalization law act. “Is it possible to be a dual citizen of the United States of America and another country?
YES — in many cases.
“The US State Department — traditionally quite combative in its handling of dual-citizenship claims — has changed the way it handles these cases in recent years, and it is now much easier to retain such a status without a fight than it used to be. ”
The official US State Department policy on dual citizenship today is that the United States does not favor it as a matter of policy because of various problems they feel it may cause, but the existence of dual citizenship is recognized (i.e., accepted) as a fact of life. That is, if you ask them if you ought to become a dual citizen, they will recommend against doing it; but if you tell them you are a dual citizen, they’ll almost always say it’s OK.”Dual citizenship faq.

Mack – I agree with you. I think the election belongs to John McCain. So I have a few questions for you, as a McCain supporter:
1) What are we doing in Iraq? Why have we spent $2 Trillion dollars, $10 billion a month, to prop up an Islamic Shite government with stronger ties to Iran than us?
2) Why have over 4000 Americans died, and more than 80,000 are disabled to prop up an Islamic Shite government with stronger ties to Iran than us?
3) Why does John McCain say that he would be happy if we stayed for XXX (pick a number) more years in Iraq to prop up an Islamic Shite (elected) government?
4) How much more is that war going to cost us? Even one more year is over $100 billion dollars. How many American lives could we save with that money?
5) We have gone into debt with China because of this war. How much further into debt with China is McCain going to take us?
6) If McCain is a war hero, why won’t he support a GI Bill for the kids who have had to fight this awful war?
7) Where is there any evidence that shows that there will not be a civil war in Iraq between the Shites and the Sunnis – whether we leave in a year or in 10 years? What do we plan to do? Let the Shiite majority kill off the Sunni minority? I think that will make our allies, the Saudis, very mad.
8) Are we going to war with Iran? How much will that cost us? How much will we be in debt to the Chinese for that war?
9) Last week a new report comes out on what this administration has done to legalize torture. In the White House, they discussed whether cutting off parts of a person’s body was legally torture. John Ashcroft was there. He was sickened. He said “History will not judge this kindly.” Until McCain started his run for President, he was the strongest, most courageous advocate against torture. Then he flipped – and agreed with Bush. Is he still with Bush?
10) Our troops have been on three, four, sometimes five rotations. Where are the troops going to come from? Enlistments are so low that we are taking people with criminal records. Does McCain plan to reinstall the draft? Is he willing to state on record that he will not reinstall the draft? I think a lot of people would like an answer to that one. Especially a lot of mothers. It matters more to us than a flag pin lapel.
That’s just on military. I haven’t started on health care, education, or kids.

We Obama “Activist” are generally the overwhelming millions of decent, ordinary American’s who continue to recognized unacceptable character flaws in the Clinton’s, and potentially more of the same disasterous policies in McCain. We are very, very grateful for a change that we can believe in.

Posted by: atayr | April 20, 2008, 1:29 am 1:29 am

lol. HuffPo is sooo desperate to make amends for bitter-gate they’re trotting out this. ROFLMAO!
Seriously, Clinton defended them when Obama voted to censure them. And what did they do? They turned into a 527 for Obama in a rigged vote. That’s right MoveOn gave members a few hours to vote on who to endorse and didn’t leave an option on their polling to not endorse and we all know who is online to vote 24/7.
MoveOn has sent a gusher of money and abused its organization to help Obama. There is no doubt about that –simply look at their response to Obama being asked moderately ‘tough’ questions.
As to voter intimidation at the caucuses, that is also factually TRUE. It’s been documented. And it’s also true that it is much more difficult for Clinton’s demographics (older voters and working class voters) to participate in caucuses. See the disparity in WA primary where everyone had time to vote (Obama won by 5 points) versus the WA caucus (Obama won by 35 points). Texas shows the same pattern of abuse.
For a candidate that bemoans all these petty distractions and manufactured scandals, he and his supporters sure do like to engage in them. I can’t imagine why, something said 3 months ago is suddenly being talked about now.

atayr,
likewise, the hillary supporters recognize unacceptable flaws and choices, associations, in bho. that is why so many of us cannot vote for him.

I’m sure that all of you Obama supporters screaming at ABC about the “unfair” debate have also contacted MSNBC, NBC, and CNN to scream about their very obvious bias against Hillary Clinton in the news every day? No, you say. Well, then your rants are falling on deaf ears within the base of the Democratic party. Sorry, your boy can’t seem to perform without a speech or a teleprompter in front of him – that’s not ABC’s fault.

Most complex problems have simple solutions that don’t work. We are in Iraq and there is no easy way out that will make everyone happy. Most of the soldiers that signed up knew what their job description entailed. As one of my friends that is in the Air Force told me when I asked him about the war, “we would rather be fighting them there and causing them to use their resources there, than have them attack us on our own soil”

Posted by: Mack | April 20, 2008, 1:45 am 1:45 am

jb: so give it up. where’s the documentation? i have no doubt that burson marsteller could come up with any documentation needed. also i’d like to see some documentation that shows that the clintons complained in 92 and 96. i watched those elections very closely and i can’t recall a single comment. the clintons sure didn’t complain about the caucus process or timing before the primaries, and they claim to know an awful lot about working class people, for people who are worth over a $100 Million bucks.
i’m also a little confused. let me get this straight. obama is being attacked for saying people are bitter, and thousands of people have come out and said “yes we are”, but like all of us, he said it in a stupid way because he’s human and he’s lso slammed because he did it in a closed donor meeting?
but it’s not a problem that hillary attacked an organization that was formed to defend her and her family, and that she did it secretly, in a private donor meeting, 2 months ago? and if i remember correctly, that would have been about the time of the california primary? so she said it in private, to a group of donors, but not in public, where the voters of san francisco, marin, alameda, santa clara, contra costa, and sonoma counties could hear her position? before they voted?

Posted by: DennisNC | April 20, 2008, 2:01 am 2:01 am

Mack? Not good enough. You didn’t answer a single question. I’m an American, I pay taxes, I have a family. If you are for John McCain and you support him, I want answers. We are fighting to prop up a Shiite Muslim government, and American kids are dying for it and my family is going to be paying the Chinese for the rest of their lives to pay for McCain’s wars. Who is going to fight those wars? Is there going to be a draft? Who is going to pay for those wars? Those aren’t complex questions. They are direct questions and Americans deserve an answer. George Bush and John McCain just don’t want to have to answer them. If a mother is going to have a child drafted to save an Islamic Shiite government – she deserves answers to those questions an awful lot more than she needs to know if somebody wears a flag pin made in China.
I know people who have been to Iraq too. And they all say the same thing. It doesn’t matter if we leave in 2 years or 10 – the results will be the same.

Conservative and liberal organizations rate the “liberalness” of Hillary and Obama as vitrually the same. Of course, Hillary will go as far to the right as she can to seek some perception of separation from Obama. She’s not only going to lose, but bare her sliminess to the world in the process.

Posted by: DennisNC | April 20, 2008, 2:14 am 2:14 am

I support Hillary. If Obama wins the nomination, I will support McCain. I can’t say I agree with all of McCain’s policies, although at least he has made the attempt to cross the aisle, which the self proclaimed uniter has never done. BTW, what is Obama’s policy on Iraq? It’s hard to follow the fancy tongue twisting.

Posted by: Mack | April 20, 2008, 2:20 am 2:20 am

Mack, like all of us you can vote for anyone you wish. But spare us the McCain “has crossed the aisle”. McCain has voted more conservately than 1/3 of the Republicans in the Senate. Unless you consider ca. half the Republicans in the Senate to be moderates, he is not a moderate.

Posted by: DennisNC | April 20, 2008, 2:27 am 2:27 am

i agree mack. Mccain has crossed the aisle many times in writing and passing legislation.
for me, however, bho is an un-vetted neophyte to big time politics. he brings alot of baggage with him–that we know of– and to me it is not pretty. i feel he is racist, as evident in his afro-centrist church, is un-american, and un-patriotic. given the choice of bho, an untested leader, and mccain, a hero, patriot, and true american who loves his country, and comes to us a well seasoned, well versed, civil servant, i must go with mccain.as for wives…michelle o is a disgrace to the country. mccains wife is a philanthropist, running and supporting organizations internationally, yes, including the all necessary, africa, to the benefit of thousands.
who do you really want to stand in front of the world as the leader of this great land. bho does not deserve such an honor.

jb = Maybe Hillary really loves and appreciates MoveOn and all it’s done for her. Didn’t sound like that on the tape – no matter how you splice it. But my guess is that it will turn into a new Clinton meme – “we lost in caucuses because of MoveOn” …. then they will try to brand Obama Moveon…. then they will try to brand anyone who doesn’t like Hillary MoveOn. Every month seems to run on a new meme and April will be MoveOn is Marxist month and you are a Marxist if you like Obama month.
Meanwhile, McCain will have BBQs for reporters, make Jon Stewart laugh, and draw up plans for Iranian missile targets.

rp and dennisnc,
actually i am a 36 year staunch democrat, never voted for one republican, always a straight party ticket.i have worked for the party, donated to the party, and supported the party all those years. i thought we would see change with the election of 2006. pelosi and reid have squandered their opportunity to help effect change by not introducing, supporting , or defeating bills, etc., including pelosi initiating impeachment proceedings against cheney and bush.
now we are in this primary and i am disgusted with the whole thing. supporters of bho have been vile, condescending, hateful towards someone IN THEIR OWN PARTY.
now the party is set to nominate someone i feel is unpatriotic, racist, and un-american through what i see, and who he has chosen to affiliate with professionally, socially, and personally. his wife is worse, stating among other things that she has never been proud of the country till now. that is not someone i want to represent me in any way. that is not someone who in any way has earned, or deserves, to represent anyone.
so, for the first time i will vote republican. am i happy about it? no. but i could not live with myself if i voted for bho considering what my opinion of him is.

What a great article – it shows the erratic, and obvious, fleeting shifts of a Clinton campaign that is without principle or true conviction. A campaign that has failed to speak about its own policies, but has concentrated on constantly attacking its opponents.
No US President can be a great leader doing this. Clinton should get out now with what must remain of her professional (and personal) pride.
I cant beleive anyone still supports this woman when she can stand there and LIE to the troops she wants the country to trust her to lead. This is what’s wrong with America – failure to MAKE its politicians accountable. THAT is what the Obama campaign is all about.
…if thats what we see here in the UK, what will rest of the world think of an America under another Clinton???
Serious food for thought, people!

MoveOn.Com lost all credibility in my eyes when they tarred General Petraeus as “General Betray-Us.” It was a stunt worthy of a high school newspaper. This is a group of youngsters with “computer smarts” but given their age demographic, they are about thirty years away from anything that would resemble wisdom. They are a generation that would like to make a fortune without working and to possess sagacity without life experience. And yes, I was that way when I was their age. Let them have their fun – but not at my expense.

PP:
Your assertion that Clinton “was under the impression that Bush would exhaust ALL avenues prior to war….” does not make me feel any better about her vote to authorize the war in Iraq in 2002. In fact it makes me feel worse. I didn’t believe anything Bush said in 2002, or I was at least suspicious. We had a laundry list of reasons not to believe him or vote for him in 2000. His rich father got him into the Texas Air National Guard so he wouldn’t have to go to Vietnam. W was busy defending the skies over Texas from the Viet Cong while working class boys were fighting and dying. W was skipping out on his National Guard meetings while his father and political allies were getting rich in the oil business. IF HILLARY COULDN’T SEE THAT THE BIG OIL PRESIDENT WAS INTENT ON INVADING AND CONTROLLING IRAQ THEN WE HAVE EVEN MORE REASON TO VOTE FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
I also don’t agree with you when you said “It’s easy for some one (Obama) to speak out against the legislation when they did not have to vote on it .” I got beat up once, and arrested another time for peacefully protesting the Vietnam war in the 60s. I was scared and shaking when I went to anti war rallies in 2002 & 2003. It was scary and risky to oppose the war a year after 9/11. BushCo was extremely successful at spreading fear and creating the impression that opposition to the war was unpatriotic. Remember all the cars with American flags? It took a lot of courage just to show up anonymously at anti war demonstrations in 2002. It took a lot more courage to stand up and make a speech to the media as an elected representative, even for a state legislator. 15 to 20 Senators were able to question Bush’s war mongering and weren’t willing to trust him. Even more Senators have admitted a mistake in trusting Bush. Hillary didn’t do either.
The war in Iraq is the biggest American disaster since Vietnam and Hillary got it wrong. Just look at the result of that vote. If we’re going to make a clean break with Bush politics, then we can’t vote for someone that got it wrong on the most important vote of the last 40 years.

MAC819,
so we disagree. i still think, and it has panned out since the legislation, that the intell the congres received was incorrect. in hind sight we think bush went after the oil. at the time most people never believed a president would lie as he did in front of the world.
i also think it was easy for bho to make his “speech”. he did not have to vote on anything. so, comparing hillary for voting with bho “speech” is apples and oranges.
i too marched/picketed both wars, and have worn “impeach bush” t-shirts for years, defiantly. i have never worried nor looked back. it has not been a heroic, anxious position/action.
if decisions are what you want to base voting on, lets dicuss deciding to stay at a racist, un-american church for twenty years(and donationg large sums of maney to it), of being associated with rather questionable characters, of voting “present” instead of taking a stand, of voting to support the war without any constraints, of running for president when a citizen of a second country, kenya, of skirting issues with double talk, of lying about the source of much of his money(bundling), of not saying anything about his wife’s un-american comments, and the list goes on…the saint bho is no saint. open yours eyes or not. if he is the nominee, these hillary supporters will vote mccain, and your candidate will go into obscurity.

It is very clear that Obama is dodging his connection with Ayers, the terroist underground group; he is dodging questions concerning the $27,000 he gave Rev. Wright last year;, he has no idea about Capital Gains taxes (you don’t tax people during a recession); he continues to be the “little girl” in this campaign by getting mad at Hillary (because she is winning Pennsyvlania and according to Gallup, has taken over the lead nationally for the nomination for U S President), by shooting her the “rod”, by crying like a baby because he finally had to handle tough questions in the last debate, which, he bombed on because he didn’t have a speech ready. As many, many, many people are realizing now, he is an “empty suit”, no substance. It’s over….Obama is imploding! Hillary, the Democratic Presidential Candidate 2008 ! Go HILLARY !

If you vote for a Rep in the general because you candidate did not become the nominee or not vote at all, you are a participant in sending the country even farther down when McBush gets into office. So what Hilary made a few mistake, so what Obama gave $27,000 to his church. What is more important for the country or is this individual thought coming into play and dar I say “damn” the county???

Sorry, Still can’t vote for Hillary. You said the “intelligence (from the CIA about WMDs etc.) was wrong”. Actually, the PBS documentary on the war said that’s not quite true. The CIA intelligence estimate that was left for Senators to read in a locked room also voiced questions about the reliability of their source. Hillary has publicly admitted that she didn’t read it. But that’s not even the main reason she shouldn’t have voted to authorize the war. The main reason is that we haven’t been able to trust Bush since his wealthy, oil rich father got him out of the Vietnam war. The connection with Bush oil, Texas oil, Cheney & Haliburton, and the Chevron oil tanker named after Condi Rice should cause anyone to question their motives. Before we send our children off to fight and die we need to exhaust every opportunity to avoid war. Bush rushed us to war. The UN weapons inspectors were not finding WMD’s. The assertion that Saddam was connected to Al Queda was based on ONLY one (alleged & false) meeting between contacts in Europe. There was no consensus among the American people let alone our allies. Bush stampeded this country into war and the cost has been horrendous. We need a president that will question and challenge the status quo and not just go along to be popular. Obama took the hard and unpopular road. And it took courage.

I AM A PROUD 100% BLACK AFRICAN-AMERICAN; MY GRANDPARENTS WERE SONS OF SLAVES.
AND BARACK OBAMA DOES NOT – IN ANY WAY – REPRESENT ME NOR MY FAMILY, NOR MY COMMUNITY.
I BELIEVE HE REPRESENTS SOME THE WORST ASPECTS OF ANY RECENT LANDED IMMIGRANT, PUSHING FOR ACCEPTANCE, BENDING OVER BACKWARDS TO BE LIKED.
WE DO NOT NEED HIM. WE DO NOT WANT HIM.
WE HAVE SACRIFICED SO MUCH, IT IS NOT FOR HIM TO RUN AWAY AND SQUANDER OUR HISTORY, OUR BELIEFS AND OUR FUTURE
OBAMA’S CAMPAIGN IS BEING SUPPORTED BY UNWORTHY PEOPLE – JUST LIKE THE OTHER CANDIDATES – BUT SOMETIMES IT ALMOST SEEMS THAT HE IS OUT TO PROVE HE IS THE MOST RADICAL OF THEM ALL!
BARACK OBAMA IS NOT WHOM WE WOULD WANT FOR PRESIDENT, IF HE DOES WIN – WHICH WOULD APPEAR VERY LIKELY- IT WILL BRING US TWO STEPS BACK IN HISTORY, MEANING THAT HIS TRIUMPH WILL NOT TRANSLATE IN A TRIUMPH OF THE AVERAGE AFRICAN-AMERICAN AND ONCE WE CHOOSE THE WRONG BLACK PRESIDENT WE WILL ALL BE LABELED ACCORDINGLY.
IF WE WERE TALKING COLIN POWELL OR CONDOLEEZZA RICE WE WOULD SUPPORT THEM FULL 100%…. WE FACE SUCH POOR CHOICES TODAY … BUT LET US NOT FALL IN TO THE TRAP OF THINKING THAT BARACK IS THE SOLUTION TO THE CENTURIES OF PRAYERS OF MANY BLACK AMERICANS.

WOW..I’m shocked that most of these writings are filled with such hatred and untruths — especially when you ALL have access to the internet and can perform searches to obtain correct information! Further, why is it okay to put someone else down when trying to lift your candidate up? The problem in America is that individuals have a tendency to hold others to a higher standard than they hold for themselves. It is okay to agree to disagree but to have such hate filled, stereotypical language is very sad. What is true is that Barack has not given $27k to Rev Wright, but he has contributed to his church which the last time I checked was called titheing. What is true is that Barack leads the gallop poll by more than 11 pts at 51% to 40% for Hillary. What is true is that the negatives for Hillary have increased substantially and people are now saying that she can not be trusted (Bosnia). She has adopted this “win at any cost” mentality and will say anything to try and win this election. She claims to be a fighter but has not delivered in her own home state of NY when making these same promises during her reelection. Experience is one thing, and tenure is another. Sure, she has been in Washington a lot longer than Barack but her experience as to how she voted on bills that have a direct impact on people lives (like the war); her experience in accepting lobbyists money and her experience not passing one bill on her own makes her not much of a leader. Our country is at a much different place than we were back in the 90′s when her HUSBAND was president — homelessness, unemployment, manufacturing are at all time lows while food and gas prices are at all time highs. So the argument that it will take a Clinton to Clean up after this Bush is pure rhetoric because the last Bush did not create this huge deficit, manufacturing jobs were not lost to NAFTA under her hubby’s tenure nor were we at war with no end in sight. We need someone in the Whitehouse that can get the job done — period. Obama in 08′

to Mary — you actually called woman in PA who vote for Obama stupid because he is a man and they should only vote for Hillary because she is a woman. Well if the only reason you find to vote for Hillary is because you are a woman is extremely stupid. That’s like saying I’m an ant so if an ant is running I will vote for it because we look alike. Unreal!!!

Get over the hate people, Obama is going to win. Yes he has ties with Rev. Wright, But do you really trust Hillary, How could she joke about being under sniper fire, It was truly an insult to our great Men & Women who proudy serve our Country and have given there lives while REALLY under sniper fire. As far as healthcare, Hillary has had 15 years to get it done and still nothing. Hillary is a leader no dout but one we can not trust with our future

This Presidential Election will go down in History as the Race that destroyed the Democratic Party. Hillary is going to win with the Super Delegates and the Obama supports will riot and not vote or vote for someone else. Then Mccain will win and the Democrats will have to pick up the party pieces or form two seperate new parties. I see it coming. Don’t count the Clintons out, just when you think they are down for the count they slip out and pull a fast one.

Go Hillary! If Obama can’t stand the heat from Chuck Gibson,… puhleeze….what do you think the McCain machine will do? Hillary is tough and tested and the next president will inherit a crapload of problems. What I keep seeing are small glimpses of a character I cannot get behind. When the mask slips on Obama, and I get a peek of what could be under there I don’t like it much. I’ll take Hillary warts and all.

Hillary is right and tells it like it is. No veiled middle fingers for her! That’s the difference between a strong leader and a wimpy wannabe.

Donna,
What it appears to me is that after the Democrats are done beating each other up,Mccain will have it easy. Right now the media is looking mainly at Obama and Clinton because it’s ugly. All of their negatives are being aired out by other Democrats not Republicans. The Democrats are doing Mccain’s job for him. By the time a Democratic canidate is chosen their won’t be anything left of the canidate. Mccain looks as pure as new fallen snow because of the hate going on right now between Obama and Hillary supporters. The fat lady is singing for the Democratic party and no one is listening.

This is yet one more example of a POORLY RUN CAMPAIGN. Her staff should do better research. In February, Yakima, Washington had the largest Democratic Party caucus EVER. Senator Obama won – MoveOn.org had NOTHING to do with it – people were turned off by the Clinton’s negative campaign, dishonesty, and lack of inspiration and vision to lead America to a better future. Also noted was the high level of excited that Senator Obama is generating in the young people of this country. I think the main problem with her campaign is that they do not seem to understand the real reasons that she is not successful.

I am among millions of Americans who are of good conscience and believe in the rightness of liberty and justice for all.
I am among millions of Americans who have served this great nation of ours through a tour of duty in the military … one who stood ready to give whatever sacrifice was necessary to preserve and to secure the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.
I am among millions of Americans who have marched in protests, stood in picket lines, been sprayed with fire hoses, been shot with rubber bullets, doused with tear gas and one who has mourned with the families of those who gave their lives for the furtherance of civil rights, affirmative action and all basic human rights.
I am among millions of Americans who have jeopardized their careers, their homes and their livelihood to stand up and speak out against discrimination and inequality, rather than stand silently by in witness of the mistreatment of others.
I am among millions of Americans who have turned out for every election, no matter how small, to vote my conscience and to provide a level playing field for every American of every race and color.
I am among millions of Americans who take a stand daily … in what they say, what they write and what they do … for the rights and dignity of all.
And I believe I am among millions upon millions of Americans who want recognition for the sacrifices we have made over the past 40 years that have made the current candidacies of the Democratic primaries and caucuses possible. Without the sacrifices we have made, neither of these candidates would be where they are today. Without our commitment to civil rights, affirmative action and non-discrimination policies, neither candidacy would be possible. And without us, neither one will reach the White House.
I believe I am among millions of Americans who want a candidate who recognizes us … among millions who want a candidate to acknowledge that our commitment and sacrifices have helped them become the living proof of our success thus far … among millions who want a candidate that promises to build on what we have built … among millions who want a candidate who recognizes that we cannot hold a clear vision of the future without having a clear understanding of the past … the bad and most assuredly, the good we, as a nation, have done.
And though we have done many wrong things, we most certainly have done as many, if not more, right things. I believe millions of fellow Americans believe this, as well.
If you are a candidate who cannot recognize the good of our past … please go home.
If you are a candidate who cannot acknowledge the sacrifices of so many for the good of the whole, please go away.
If you are not a candidate who believes that we as a nation have built a solid foundation of commitment to civil rights, affirmative action and non-discrimination on which to build our future of true liberty and justice for all, please leave the stage.
I am among millions of Americans who want a leader who believes not only in the building up of what is already good in America … but a leader who believes in the basic decency and goodness of the American people as a whole. We are worthy of your recognition.
I am among millions of Americans who want a president who is willing to serve as we have served … a president who recognizes the duty, we as Americans have, to do whatever is necessary to move forward into that state of union that recognizes, preserves and builds upon the basic rights of our vital, beautiful diversity … past, present and future.

Jake, why do you say “falsely, according to the group?” Are you a journalist or what? Do we have to look it up ourselves? Actually, it is pretty well known that MoveOn did not oppose the Afghanistan war. So maybe this should be a story about Clinton “mis-speaking” rather than about MoveOn.
It is also interesting to note that Clinton had great praise for MoveOn back when she thought they might be helping HER.

One in every three black men is in prison, two of three is either on  parole or probation, one-half of those are in prison on paper because the criminal jusitce system is unfair and they are intimidated and exploited by racist prosecutors, lawyers and judges who continue to ensure that they have a job to go to everyday.  Education for AF-Am is a joke. It has been reduced to whether a racially bias test can be passed.  The majority of black people live in extreme poverty, just trying to make it from day to day chased down like animals by crooked police, attacked with taser, shot down in the street, beaten.  The life expectancy for Af-AM men is approx 59, which means they never be able to realize the American dream of getting Soc Sec (Ha-Ha) because they have no health e insurance, because they have no dental insurance. Property own by Af-Am are being stolen right from under them by crooked politicians and greedy businessmen. If all of these thing have not caused them to  riot, you can’t really think that if Obama does not get the nomination, there is going to be a riot.  Not only that Obama has done nothing for the black people in Chicago who put him where he is now. (Please stop trying to intimidate Hiliary supporter with that BS).
This is from an AF-AM voter who choorse to live in third world America with by black sisters and brothers in order to support them as much as possible.

When this campaign is over, Hillary will be able to look forward to a career as a fiction writer. All she has to do is provide a synopsis of her “harrowing experience” at the Tuzla Airport dodging sniper bullets. But then again, it easy to confuse dodging bullets with receiving a poem from and eight-year-old child. Who can’t see the similarity of those events.
Thanks, Sinbad

I, too have been investigated for a security clearance. If the below is true, then I have no doubt that the FBI, CIA, NSA, DIA and all the other alphabet soups will be shuddering and keeping all kinds of info from Obama if he wins. I copied the belows:

As a member of MoveOn we were ask to vote for the candidate that we thought was best. I voted for Hillary. MoveOn never told us that they would enorse or support either candidate. MoveOn has decided support Obama in every way ….. they can instead of letting the voters decide who the candidate should be. MoveOn had broke their word to me!

…………………………………
As always Move-on did what we, the people, wanted. They first asked if we thought they should support one candidate over the other if we had at least a 65-45 preference of one over the other. The majority of us responded affirmatively. Well over 65% selected Obama. I understand that there a lot of people who don’t think Democracy is important, if they don’t get what they want, but that is the way it is. We are Democrats and Independents. It is not an authoritarian group. Nobody is forced to support a candidate they don’t want to. The idea that Move on didn’t inform this person that they would looking to endorse a candidate is BULL!

The often stated HRC argument to be the nominee is not that most people voted for her, BUT she can take all the **it the republicans will dump on her. Such a place is called garbage dump. What a qualification to be a president!!
Her most talked about issue is health care. Remember in 1993, democrats controlled The House, The Senate and The White House and she failed. Why? she could not even rally/listen to the Democrats who had some suggestion of their own to amend the Bill. As a result the republicans won the midterm elections in 1994 – due to her debacle. On this not, Al Gore lost the presidency because of Bill/Monica nightmare on the nation. I admit, the economy was good at the time and Bill has done some good for the nation, BUT we have also paid for too much for their mistakes – G Bushe’s presidency and the rest of the mess he brought for the nation.
HRC;s behavior in this campaign, dissing her friends who did not vote for her (Richardson, Reich, etc), states who did not vote for her (Iowa, Mississipi, and all those small states), organizations that did not support her (MoveOn, Some labor unions, etc.)… I am not even counting what Bill Clinton has said about the youth and African Americans. By the way African Americans and MoveOn were the only blocks of voters that came to help the Clintons during the impeachment – and these are the two groups most dissed by the Clintons.
This is the problem with HRC. Even if she gets the nomination, there won’t be as many democrats left that she has not offended, the Independents and the republicans don’t trust her, even before ‘Bosnia’.
I am really sorry to see the two politicians I voted for and admired could be so destructive for all of us. What a shame. Their story should be told to young people who aspire to be leaders how too much ego can destroy ones promising carrier.
I truly believe that campaigns do the vetting of cadidates – their truthfulness, how they treat friends when they choose the other guy…

Toby: That dog won’t hunt. The Clinton campaign has a) not refuted the remarks and b) is making nice with MoveOn. If the remarks were lies or distorted, they would have been the first to say so.
I’m surprised. I thought the Clintons would use this as an obvious opportunity to move to the center. They must really, really want those undeclared California super delegates.

Posted by: Mara | April 20, 2008, 3:53 pm 3:53 pm

Poor Hillary, so she got a little confused. It’s so easy to confuse a corkscrew landing and dodging snipers’ bullets with receiving a poem of peace from a child. Natural mistake!

What I find so interesting about the Clitonites is that, when these organizations were supporting Hillary and Bill they were fine with them. They courted these groups and praised the work they did on behalf of the party. Now this group is supporting Obama and they are somehow destroying here campaign in the caucuses. They blame the caucuses and now MoveOn.org for her failure to capture the nomination. What will here campaign do next week? Who will she blame? What a disaster, and the Clintons want to run this country again? No Way!….

Has everyone forgotten that the ONLY reason we have had 8 years of horror from the Bush camp is BECAUSE OF THE CLINTONS??? I voted for Bill twice. I supported him through the debacle of Monica-gate, but for them to have the lack of shame, the NERVE to run her for president is simply unconscionable. And typical of the Clintons’ shamelessness is the dirty politics they continue to play, despite the fact that this is detrimental to the party… and to winning the national election. They had their shot, she even got to be a senator, but frankly, they blew it. If you were hiring someone to, say, run your business, would you pick the person with the doubtful rep, the spouse who butts in, the angry one? Not me!!

Posted by: CASSANDRA | April 20, 2008, 6:37 pm 6:37 pm

Susan,Please the reason we have 8 years of George Bush is because the Republicans will do anything to win up to and including steal an election(s).  Each time during the last two elections, the Republican outwitted the Democrats. First with Florida, then with Ohio, now with the Democratic nomination.  Primarily because they believe that the makeup of the Dem. party consist on people who are unable to or unwilling to encompass the idea that the Rep will conspire, rig, use propaganda, (create wars) in order to obtain their goals which is and was to rob the American people of all it money.  The sad thing about this is they have been very successful at this game for a long time.  Only Bill Clinton was able to put a dent in their plans.  Can you imagine where Americans would be if President Clinton had not won his two terms.  Twenty long years of war.  Because President Bush (1) was planning on going back to war again anyway.  That why the Republicans were so zealous in trying to find something against President Clinton.  H–l we would be in a “depression” rather than a “recession”.  4,000+ soldier vs 10,000+ soldiers dead, and over 100,000 wounded; gas $3.40 vs $6.60. All things considered, we should be praying and thanking God everyday for the Clinton years. It not too late, we still have an opportunity to save ourselves.  As a 51 year old Af-Am woman, so what lots of men have affairs, it not my place to judge how personal relationship are resolved.  Certainly, I would not appre ciate anyone telling me that I need to divorce because of anyone of the many problems that relationship face. s Besides it was just oral sex anyway. Americans can be so hypocritical and prudish especially when for the most part no one is without their own crosses to bear.  Hiliary placed the welfare of her family and her country above her own personal humiliation and pain that was available for the entire world to either empathize or gloat over. Qualities that anyone could admire. Hiliary has paid her dues to Americans, the favor should be repaid in kind.

Now that Hillary is beating Obama in the national polls for the candidate most electable and she is favored to win 10+ points in Pennsylvania, even some of the most staunt Obama supported news analyst are saying now that she has new life and he has been hurt with his actions this past week. Added to this that Dean is saying now that Florida and Michigan delegates will be seated at the convention, many are saying after Tuesday, with Clinton’s BIG win, that the SuperD’s that have pledged support for Obama will recant their votes and go with Clinton. Added to this, the breaking news that the Hamas is now endorsing Obama, because of his Muslim ties, I don’t see him gaining anymore ground. Actually, as one commentator on CNN stated, it’s as if the Obama campaign is imploding. Hillary 08 !

Since Rihardsons’s endoresement of Senator Obama and the hours and hours of canvessing I and others have done in my state, it is very likely that Senator Obama will carry NM in the GE.
