Clinton Strikes a Joke for Fools Day
ABC’s Eloise Harper reports: Senator Hilary Clinton came out to greet the press traveling with her in Philadelphia Tuesday and had a pun-heavy and metaphor-filled April Fools Day joke at the ready.
Speaking in a serious and somber tone, Clinton addressed the tight Democratic race ahead and proposed a novel way to settle the score.
Watch the VIDEO HERE.
At first, many in the press corps, noting her serious tone, confessed later that they thought they were witnessing a major news development. Was she dropping out? Formally inviting Senator Obama to a joint ticket? But when Clinton began tweaking Obama’s efforts this weekend to woo the votes of Pennsylvania’s 10-pin playing Democrats, they knew the joke was on them.
"I want to take a moment to say that this has been a very hard fought race. Each of us is drawing enormous support we clearly need to do something so our party and people can make the right decision,” Clinton began.
“So I have a proposal today. I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl-off. A bowling night. Right here in Pennsylvania. Winner take all. I’ll even spot him two frames it’s time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all of the pins to be counted."
“I am prepared to play this game all the way until the 10th frame. When this game is over the American people will know when that phone rings at 3am they will have a president who is ready to bowl on day one.”
“So lets strike a deal and go bowling for delegates. We don’t have a moment to spare because it’s already April fools day – so happy April fools day!”

So, a joke is newsworthy? Must be a slow day indeed. Good for Senator Clinton for lightening things up a bit.

People don’t vote in caucuses in the general election. Sorry but if Obama does become the nominee he has no chance of winning…just a fact.

hahhahaha that was awesome!

She will be an awesome president. She can be funny when the situation calls for humor and she is serious when the situation warrants it. We’ve already had a president who tired easily and often had to vacation to keep up with the “really hard” job of being president…we can’t afford another pres who has to take a 5 day vacation in the middle of a campaign and just wants to get away from people, who can’t answer more than “like 8 questions” and who can’t even friggin’ finish 10 frames at a bowling alley. The man is not fit to be president — PA we need you to send that message, loud and clear. Americans help each other, and we are counting on you to help correct the mistake that those of us who have already voted have made.
God Bless you and God Bless America.

Hillary is amazing. After all of the slanted news coverage she is still fighting. She is one of the most impressive public figures that I have ever seen. This strong woman makes me proud to be an American!

I can not believe this. They are things to joke of and they are other no one can dare.
People are taking the whole process seriously. All eyes around the globe are wide open to see who will emerge as a nominee, and her being one of the candidates is joking!! Its quite interesting if not amazing!

For all of those who fail to see any humor; Get over yourselves… Lighten up! Things in the world really are bad, but let’s make an attempt to see a little bit of good and have a laugh once in a while.
Geeesh!!!

h and Peace – you need to lighten up a little bit. Yes, we have serious problems in our country, but sometimes people need a break from all the doom and gloom. Besides, people who can smile and laugh are healthier and live longer.

I really like the ‘never say die’ spirit of Hillary. That is what the leader should be. Keep on fighting no matter what the odds are.

Good one, Hill! You are gonna be one AWESOME U.S. President – and not just ’cause you have a great sense of humor!
Take that, Mr. 37! Anybody notice how Axelrod came out today to make MORE excuses for Obama? Over something as trivial as his bowling score, he felt he had to excuse Barack’s decidedly non-virile performance by telling everyone that “he only bowled 7 frames” – LOL!
Loved your April Fool’s joke, Hillary, YOU ROCK!

Sam, KERRY, Summer, PS, and shirley, Hill will be your president in Bosnia. She will work hard with all of you to get the snipers under control and win this war with McCain’s support from the US Senat floor, because we know that the Arizona’Senator will not leave his best friend alone. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Folks…..all those crticizing either candidate for their bowling or the joke need to relax.
I support Hillary but we dont need to find fault with either of them for every thing they say or do not say!!!

Very funny – she is great and wil be a great President.
And that Gallup poll of Sunday showing Obama leading Hillary by 10? – the gap has closed to 4 now.
Bet the media does not report that story!

Hillary, you are hilarious. As for Obama and his supporters. Lighten up…but perhaps you can’t do it. 20 years of Reverend Jeremiah (Damn America) Wright’s hate is just too deep in your psyche.

The press corps was looking for something besides a sense of humor. The networks missed another “Breaking News” story as it happened. Alas, Hillary is so cool. What a classic April Fool’s joke. Not only is she intelligent, knowledgeable on the issues, experienced, hard working, never gives up, tough…plus, a great sense of humor. I love it!

Enjoyed it. She’s a smart lady – she knows how to hit him where it hurts! Like me she was probably sick and tired of seeing Obama’s “bowling” as a news headline so she stole his thunder! And she did just that. Yes Obama, time for you to “get out of the gutter” with your shamelessly NEGATIVE campaign!
Interesting to read today also that 90% of Obama’s popular vote “lead” is attributable to his home state, Illinois. And this doesn’t even take into account the fact that Clinton won Florida fair and square. So the whole notion of Obama having a national popular vote “lead” is yet another FALLACY which the media PEDDLES to the public.

I have never voted before. I was indifferent when it came to choosing a president. But this time I have the opportunity to feel the candidate and every day I feel more respect and admiration for the woman-Hillary Clinton. Nothing this woman archieved was free,on the contrary she got it by courage, perseverance, hard work and a deep faith in herself and ultimately faith in life itself. I think you will not have a better person for president. One day the american people will talk possitevely about this incredible woman that very few knows. To me she is a symbol of strength. Hillary is being crusified.

Hillary is amazing? Please. Anyone that would think Hill is a saint or is something special is a nut. She is a hypocrite. If the situation were reversed, there would be calls from her camp and YOU losers as well for him to get out. But, because it is her on the losing end, somehow she should stay and fight. To he// with her and her people……

Hillary Clinton is the most qualified and experienced candidate. We are just seeing thousand-year-old prejudices against a women. Obama divides us. He says he will unite us, but look at all the racial tension he has brought to this campaign—and everyone is concentrating on that instead of the issues. The press lies and says Hillary & Obama are the same. He is for partial birth abortion and she is for zero abortion (non-legislated) combined with a new way of educationing children on the matter. Hillary’s for preK-program & health care for all. Obama is not for health care for all & I’ve heard nothing about a school program from him. He will talk to our enemies–and it’s because he’s in with them. They’re his friends. This Obama as an anti-American, pro-Africa agenda–it’s Marxist theology and leaning. Do you hear me folks? Wake up.

By the way, I had some 20 year old college students here the other day. They were all “Yes we Can.” I said, well what does that mean. Write it, each of you on a piece of paper. Well, they didn’t know what to write. I said, well, does it mean you can win. They finally said yes. I said, ok, and what do you get when you win? They had no clue. They just liked the way Obama looks. I said, well, when you are paying 10% sales tax on everything you buy and when you are sending .7% of the GNP to Africa, then maybe you’ll wish you voted for Hillary. We talked for about an hour on the issues and they all decided that Hillary was the best bet, if they truly matched what they wanted to the candidate.
