Leslie Hagen, former liaison between the US Justice Department and a committee on Native American issues, received "outstanding" marks on her final job evaluation. But amidst rumors she’s a lesbian, she was told her contract would not be renewed.
The Inspector General of the U.S. Justice Department is looking into the matter, reports Ari Shapiro at National Public Radio.
The senior counsel for then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Monica Goodling, "had a particular interest in Hagen’s duties," NPR reports. "A few months before Hagen was let go, according to one e-mail, Goodling removed part of Hagen’s job portfolio — the part dealing with child exploitation and abuse."
