Huckabee on Rev. Wright: ‘I Wonder if Hillary is Really Paying for His Security Force’
In an interview with Salena Zito of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, former GOP presidential candidate and ordained minister Mike Huckabee says, "When Rev. Wright’s comments were first exposed, I actually had some sympathetic words for him because I felt his sentiments needed to be put in the context of his own experience of being treated with racism and that being an underlying point of pain and agony for him, but he’s now seeming to do it because he enjoys the spotlight."
"I have to wonder if he realizes or even cares that the more he says, the more damage it is doing to Obama," Huckabee says. "I wonder if Hillary is really paying for his security force instead of Farrakhan since she is getting the greatest benefit from this."

Huckabee’s an interesting guy. If he wasn’t such a huge conservative, he might even make a good president!
Interesting that it was a Clinton supporter who organized the National Press Club thing, which seems to be what got the negative reaction moving! The initial reaction to the NAACP dinner was much more positive. But that dinner was much less about Senator Obama. Yesterday, Rev. Weight really went overboard!

Of course Wright is cashing in. He knows just what he is doing and LOVES the attention. he says he is standing up for his church…but then says he answers to no one but God. If this is true why does he care what anyone says.
He is a total looser, and needs to go back to his retirememt home, if he loves his church he will disappear because everytime he opens his mouth he hurts them more.

Al…at first I was giving Wright the benefit if the doubt, but now I agree. I think he is a racist. I personally don’t think Obama realized how much of a racist he is, because Obama is not a racist. I have attended a lot of black churches in my time and they do get carried away, but nothing close to Wrights words.

Who cares what Huckabee says?
No one is controlling this pastor , Obama brought him out now instead of June, because he thinks he can lie and say he does not believe what the preacher said.
Got to love libs (yes Huckabee is a lib) they blame everyone else but themselves.
Oil price high oh well it must be the cars not the fact we are not drilling

I find it both humourous and offensive that Obama supporters are blaming HIllary, of all people, for the shenanigans of Wright. When will YOU take responsibility, when will Obama take responsibility, when will Wright take responsibility? When it comes to your messiah, Obama, he can do no wrong, so you blame everyone else for his serious problems? how about this…Obama is a dangerous liar, and he, and only he, is responsible for that. Get a clue already!

Just like Wright, Huckleberry wants to be in the limelight. Wright, the supposed preacher has made himself so political in these last few months, that I do believe its something that he and the obama campaign have planned together in order to blame Hillary Clinton for wrights words. They have played the race card big time and they love to blame Clinton. Now Huckleberry is starting to make little noises as well – well Mr. Huckleberry, you did drop out of the campaign and no one around here has asked your opinion – its just another opinion of a man who dislikes Hillary because she is a woman and not barefoot and pregnant like you believe she should be.

I think she realizes that 2008 is not her year, but if she can damage Sen. Hillary is a strong Person who happens to be a Woman.
She is tenacious, tough, and manipulative. ( women are good at getting what they want )
As President, she will win Legislations to pass for the majority of Americans.
I don’t expect my life to change much if she wins, but I have more hope that it won’t get worse.
She is the best of the lot.
And Obama is the worst of the lot.
Obama is weak…. it’s simple as that.
( And Having Hamas and Farrakhan supporting your candidacy doesn’t help either )
Where do you want your country to head towards in the future?
HIllary will help her own–Her OWN Country– my country, and that is why I support her.
I want My tax dollars will help MY COUNTRY— not Africa, not China, — This woman is smart…..We need someone like her to have THE Power.

One of those rare moment I agree with RUSH LIMBAUGH:
“I watched some of Reverend Wright this morning at the National Press Club. It seems obvious to me that he’s doing everything he can to wipe out Obama’s candidacy, and I’ll tell you why I think it is. I think that people like Reverend Wright — and I think there are a lot of other race business hustlers out there, by the way, who think this — really upset that if a black candidate is elected president, that they’re going to be somehow diminished in their task, at keeping everybody in their flocks all revved
up and angry about the ages old sin of slavery and the ongoing discrimination.
So it appears to me, if you look at Reverend Wright, listen to what he says and analyze it from the context or perspective of what’s best for him, which is clearly all he’s interested in, what’s best for him is that if Obama loses, because then it’s easy for him to say, “See, the white power structure doesn’t want a black man to rise to the pinnacle of power in the United States of America.”
Read the full quote at the Atlantic:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/04/rush-on-wright.html
Even Al Sharpton is joining the chorus by criticizing Obama over the Sean Bell trial.

You just made the point. You can’t attack HRC without coming away as a very mean mean man. She has gone through this great debate without a single challenge except for hers or Bill’s self inflicted wounds. She has had every benefit to win this nomination and squandered them all. She can’t manage a campaign, I don’t want her near the White House and would never cast a ballot for her. I am proud to say that I never voted for Bill either. It’s Obama either on the ballot or by write-in.

I was waiting for someone to blame this on Hillary. Seems that Barack is never responsible for anything. Rev Wright is the one to blame. A man who is “like a family member, just like an uncle to me”. And there were many people from Black Churches, the NAACP, and black reporters all cheering him on as he made a fool of himself and Obama. And you can be sure that he is not done yet. Was Hillary responsible for all of them too? What kind of a leader is Barack if he can’t judge this man’s character after 20 years?

You do all realize that all of Wright’s press conferences where he got to speak into such a large microphone and talk about all of these setniments that all of you Hillary supporters are upset about him spreading…
well Hillary supporters organized both of them.
So you can look at it two ways… either it is typical slimey Hillay campaign…that can only win by dirt and drawing correlations with other candidates (all the while speakign out of both sides of her mouth) or that those supporters believe in Wright’s sentiments.
so which is it?
why you all would want some who would run such a slimey and messy un-managed campaign…running our country…one surrounding a candidate that has enough “experience” to make more up and not know that her statements with Obliterating Iran and massive retaliation are going to be used by every rogue nation claiming the US is a power hungry war moonger and that they need nuclear weapons for defense
…so much for being aware that rogue leaders will use what we say and do for propaganda.
She is hands down the worst candidate of the three.

Since you don’t listen to Obama’s stump speeches, let me give you a FYI…
Obama has said that he will take the troops out of Iraq and send them to the hills of Pakistan and Afganistan to sniff out and kill bin Laden…he clearly plans on using his judgement to attack and destroy the leader and his followers, the ones who were responsible for 9/11. My jaw hit the floor when he said it because I thought he was more of a diplomat, too…but, he’s said it several times now. He also says that his first responsibility to this country is to make sure that we are safe and go directly after the terrorists rather than spend taxpayer dollars on a war that was based on a lie regarding WMDs.
Just thought you should know…

@carpenter nyc…
As a former Clinton supporter, I, like you, value experience more than hope speeches.
But, after hearing Obama and realizing that he wants to take back Washington, I realized that he’s the only one who can do that. Both of the other candidates have taken millions of PAC and lobbyists’ money and Obama has not.
What does this mean to us? It means that he doesn’t owe any political favors and the 30,000 lobbyists who work in DC are SOL. Think about it…30,000 lobbyists for 100 senators and 435 members of Congress! I forgot what politician said it, but, he bragged about not having to buy dinner in over 30 years because they were paid for lobbyists!
Big business has corrupted our lawmakers and Obama has worked hard to get the toughest ethics reform bill passed in Congress. As a former pharmaceutical sales representative, I realized that when my company bought expensive lunch/dinners for doctors and their offices so that they would prescribe the drug that I was selling versus the generic drug that only costs $4 and works just the same…it woke me up and I no longer work in the industry because I bought the doctors’ prescribing habits!
Give him a chance to take back Washington…he’s the only one even talking about fighting these groups which should give you an indication where the allegiances of the other candidates’ lie.

America is a free country and their is freedom of speech. Obama has nothing to do with the media frenzy aroung Mr. Wright. If Mr. Wright was a true man of God this would not be happening, but to me this proves he is not. Obama is JUST ANOTHER POLITICIAN. Period! I don’t know how someone who is and behaves as just another politician is talking about changing Washington, and how there are people who are still believing it.

On msnbc post-press conference analysis, even Chris Matthews seems to have cooled some on tender candidate Obama: “God d___ American — you’d think he would have heard THAT by word of mouth”, Matthews remarked.

Just remember guys, (Un)Rev. Wright said he was “coming after Obama” if he (God forbid) got elected. Does that even concern the Secret Service?

HOO-boy, that’s an understatement. Even if Axelbama manage to “win” some primary — which seems more unlikely by the moment — it’s really difficult to imagine superdelegates who sees the video of Obama’s press conference making him the Democratic Party nominee, unless they’re DETERMINED to throw the election to the other side.

it’s amazing that the same people who say that HRC cant manage/do anything are the ones saying she somehow manipulates people like Wright into doing her bidding. Can’t have it both ways. Huckabee’s statement clearly a JOKE, making the point that the controversy is to HRC’s benefit — doesn’t mean she’s the cause of it.

It’s not so astonishing that a Clinton supporter could be tied to Wright — despite Clyburn and Obama’s clear strength in the black community, there are still blacks who support Clinton and who have a life of their own. Reynolds is a minister, who has had long-term relationship working w/the UCC and Wright. Grow up everyone – life’s complicated, and people have different interests/sides which expands their horizons. Dems and repubs can be friends, black theologians and white christians can be friends …

Wright is a perfect example of a black person who wants to cling to his anger and his ability to be a “voice” in a changing enviroment that he dosen’t understand and has moved beyond him.
He has made the decision that he does not care if he keeps the black people in this country behind when it comes to having his little feelers hurt. He sold out the black people in this country for the last 4 days and I am glad that Obama has finally let him go from his life. People change and it appears that Obama has finally realized that the jealousy Wright apparently held towards him was real and not a figment of a media go wild with a situation that could be used as a weapon.

Whew. Obama’s press conference about Wright’s PR tour was just really, really, ill-advised.
I vehemently disagree with Wright on many things, but having Obama (who has had a close relationship with Wright for 20 years) go live today and pretty much throw Wright on the trash heap, is enough to turn a lot of stomachs.
He was described by Obama as his “moral compass” and “mentor” and “sounding board.” Wright baptized his kids, performed his marriage, blessed his house, and was a friend. I’d have a heck of a lot more respect for Obama had he just stuck with his initial damage control speech a few months back.
Now, he’s pretty much insulted the entire TUCC congregation, many AAs, and dissed Wright completely. You are only as good as your advisors in a campaign. Axelrod may write good speeches, and commercials, but he has no understanding of people.
This is just an ugly, ugly, week for Obama. Almost painful to watch.

Old Reverend Wright is probably the whitest black guy after Michael Jackson so im certain hes got a chip on his shoulder especially when he looks at his church congregation just to witness that they are all are darker than he. To his credit he sure knows when and how to put the boot in. that one must ask. Why now. However if these are the playing rules when someone of color runs for president. Then they will be better off if they did not do so. So USA can continue with business as usual. DIVIDE AND RULE.

People shouldn’t be surprised that Obama would throw Rev. Wright and – all those supporters who have been twisting themselves into pretzels over the past few days trying to justify Wright’s recent remarks – under the bus.
Look at his chief strategist, Axelrod. Ask him or his wife WHO provided key support to the foundation so close to their hearts devoted to research and support for epilepsy (one of their children has it).
It was Hillary Clinton. This is well documented. Axelrod has a history of this – just ask John Edwards, one of his former clients.
Obama is a hustler.

If the Clintons orchestrated the Wright fiasco, then they are Gods!
They are the greatest politicians and strategists that have ever lived.
OR
Obama and Wright are racists and simply got caught by a Republican controlled network that wasn’t in awe of Obama.
Either way, I want to be on Sen Clinton’s side.

but here is the real twist,
obama will lose some of his black support. I have not heard any recent news, so i don’t know if he will denounce and reject rev. wright or not.but if he does-the black people will see him as a sellout and traitor.and he will lose their support.obama did not want to deal with the race issues in his campaign, but his black supporters do want it to be an issue.
I wonder how it will all play out.
I am sure chris matthews and ko will have an interesting spin on it.

But of COURSE Obama’s denounced Reverend Wright — it’s Rezko all over again.
Will Jesse Jackson speak up pretty soon? I hope so. JJ Jr.’s high up in the Axelbama campaign, but it’s Jesse’s early endorsement that gave Obama his “black” and “left” support (outside the big-bucks-saboteur wing of the solidarity-optional celebrity left, that is).
Will Tom Hayden unleash yet another analysis crediting his “pacifist wife”?
Will Keith Olbermann, Dana Milbank et al. check themselves into a cult deprogramming place? I hope so.

why?
I wonder why oprah didn’t tell the obamas that wright could be a problem down the road?

It’s not that Obama’s not “ready” — but that he’s a front-man for mobsters. As for Obama being “black”, Idi Amin was black, but didn’t seem to give HIM any special genetic gift for bringing disparate groups together.
It might be time for another look at Obama’s cousin Odinga, dear press people.

That’s my point of concern based on my love for this wonderful country!!

Obama keeps trumpeting his judgment as one of the primary reasons to nominate him for president. What kind of judgment does he show sitting and listening to Wright for 20 years? By his own account, Obama considered Wright to be his spiritual guide, and one of his family. Not anymore, apparently. Obama is now saying, “Rev. Wright is dead to me.” Yet, Wright is the same person who was, until recently, one of the most important influences in Obama’s life. Did Wright change? Is the Wright we are seeing now not the same one who exerted so much influence over Obama, and who provided so much inspiration to Obama? It is inconceivable that the Wright we are seeing today is not the Wright that Obama knew for 20 years. If, as he claims, Obama was not aware of how extreme, and just plain silly, were the views of Wright, then we have to seriously call into question Obama’s ability to judge people, which is one of the most important characteristics of a president. In addition, if after professing his admiration for Wright Obama is willing to throw the old gentleman under the proverbial campaign bus, does this not call into question Obama’s loyalty to his friends and associates. Loyalty is another critical characteristic of an effective president.

Mike Huckabee is a compassionate and honorable man who has tried to give Rev. Wright the benefit of the doubt and has DEFENDED Obama. It makes me sick to see people talking badly about him when he has done nothing but prove himself to be the best type of politician and the type of leader, along with Senator McCain that we need in Washington. He speaks the truth, from the heart, not some fake speech written by a speechwriter, and he and Senator McCain tell it like it is. You can trust them explicitly.

Easy. Obama stayed in Wright’s church because Wright was a huge asset in getting him elected in his Chicago district. Now Wright is a huge deficit in getting him elected president, so, AWAAAAAY HE GOOOOOOES. I think Wright foolishly believed that once Obama got some power he would help him(Wright) push his pro-black agenda. That isn’t working out for him. I think probably all the little put down did for Obama was to help him with his “Aw, but he’s such a nice man” white voters. Probably too late too little for the sweat collar voter and may have even hurt him with some of his black voters. They won’t vote Hillary but they may be angry enough to stay home.

Rev. Wright Speaks at Breakfast club at White House when Clintons were president? Can you make a connection?
Posted by: Ed | April 30, 2008, 1:10 pm 1:10 pm
The Family avoids the word Christian but worships Jesus, though not the Jesus who promised the earth to the “meek.” They believe that, in mass societies, it’s only the elites who matter, the political leaders who can build God’s “dominion” on earth. Insofar as The Family has a consistent philosophy, it’s all about power–cultivating it, building it and networking it together into ever-stronger units, or “cells.” “We work with power where we can,” Doug Coe has said, and “build new power where we can’t.”
Obama has given a beautiful speech on race and his affiliation with the Trinity Unity Church of Christ. Now it’s up to Clinton to explain–or, better yet, renounce–her long-standing connection with the fascist-leaning Family.
