ABC News’ Vija Udenans reports: If the President of the United States sends you a "good luck" message as you compete on a national game show, does that un-nerve you or give you a competitive edge?

Captain Joseph Kobes, 29, a US army transportation officer, just might have an added good luck charm when he competes on NBC’s game show, "Deal or No Deal" Monday, April 21.

President Bush has taped the video thanking Kobes for his service in Iraq and wishing him good luck on the program that offers the potential to win $1 million if he chooses the correct briefcase. The video clip will be shown on the show on Monday night. The show’s producers had contacted the White House to let them know that Kobes thought of Bush as "one of his heroes."

Kobes, from Sumner, Washington, has served three tours of duty in Iraq since March 2004. He received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained when the truck he was riding in was blown up in 2004. He has just re-signed with the Army for three more years and is in military training in Virginia.
