N.C. GOP Refutes McCain Adviser on Wright Ad
ABC News’ Bret Hovell, Tahman Bradley and Teddy Davis Report: The North Carolina Republican Party is going forward with plans to air a controversial ad featuring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright despite a Thursday claim by a senior McCain adviser that the ad would not air.
"I don’t know where this is coming from but this ad is scheduled to go on the air early next week as we have always said," Brent Woodcox, a spokesman for the North Carolina GOP, told ABC News.
Charlie Black, a top adviser to Arizona Sen. John McCain, maintained Thursday to ABC News and Time Magazine that the North Carolina Republican Party was not going to air its controversial ad.
"The ad has been pulled. I don’t think it ever ran, except on the web," Black told Time.
The ad links Wright to two North Carolina Democrats running for governor who have endorsed Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
Asked about Black’s claim, Woodcox checked with North Carolina Republican Party Chair Linda Daves and said the senior McCain adviser’s claim was unfounded.
Told of the North Carolina Republican Party’s plans to go forward with the ad, Black backed off the claim, saying that he is now hearing conflicting reports.
Earlier Thursday while campaigning in New Orleans, McCain himself addressed the ad.
"I cannot dictate to the [North Carolina Republican] Party what their message is," said McCain. "But I can condemn it. I have no further options. I cannot impose my will on people who are the elected leaders of their own party."
Watch the ad, which is set to begin airing Tuesday, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXxkctYRAZQ.

Ever notice how the Obama lovers are increasingly backed into the ‘he has MORE delegates’ argument ?
They have no other argument. He is NOT winning independents anymore. He is NOT winning republicans anymore.
His whole argument is he won more delegates (and rightfully so ) in febuary.
They FAIL to mention it was when he had PERFECT Teflon coating in the CORRUPT media.
It certainly hasnt gone that way since, nor will it from now on. He is a fundamentally flawed candidate now.
He has been shoved into the far left corner. (where he belonged all along)

If McCain can’t even get his party to stop an ad he doesn’t like, how is he going to be able to stand up to Al Qaeda?
McCain is a WEAK leader.

My respect for McCain went up after hearing this. I really hope that we have a race against McCain and Obama…these are two people who are trying to have a race about the issues. Its too bad that people in their parties are clouding the issues with negative attacks…

Boycott the election and you have given up your right to demand change in the elected leaders. Boycotting is the uneducated persons way of handling conflict. You should be mobilizing an effort to get the vote out, not whining about skin color. Did you think it was easy on MLK, or Malcom? No, but they didn;t shy away from the responsablity to educating and mobilizing people to effect change.

It’s time to see an Ad with Hagee’s damaging words and McCain’s words to George Steph(whatever) on how he should not have gone after the endorsement and in the same breath saying he was glad he had the endorsement. There’s plenty to go after w/ JM.

Richardson cannot be trusted and a traitor. Don’t vote for him when runs for a Senator. He belongs to Wright, Rezco and Ayer who join any rgoup or fraternity where he will benefit and not the Americans.
Obama’s motto and theme should be Pay per Vote. Obama overspent in Pennsylvannia and still came out the loser.
Look at the facts as to how strong Hillary is:
Obama lost in Pennsylvannia in spite of endorsement by a Senator and overspending in ads, 5 to 1.
Obama lost in Texas and Ohio even overspending in ads and manipulating info in Ohio.
Obama lost in California even though Oprah, Maria Shriver, and Katherine Kennedy endorsed him.
Obama lost Massachusetts even though Kennedy and John Kerry endorsed him.
Hillary won the big states and has more electoral college votes to date than Obama that is crucial in November.
Obama lost the big states even though the media is most of the time unfair with Hillary and always positive to Obama.
Wake up superdelegates! You will make the right choice if you pick Hillary.
Obama mocked the Pennsylvannians and the entire nation, which is so irresponsible and very degrading to all Americans. He is just like Wright who mocked the Americans and like Rezco and Ayers who we can’t trust.
Wake up superdelegates!

“I cannot dictate to the [North Carolina Republican] Party what their message is,” said McCain. “But I can condemn it. I have no further options. I cannot impose my will on people who are the elected leaders of their own party.”
Bull**it, McCain. That’s a good one. You may be correct in that you can’t “dictate” to them but I’ve dealt with party politics enough to know that the party’s nominee can pretty much get what he wants when he’s adamant about something. McCain’s just trying to have his cake and eat it too.
And frankly, this coming from the redneck North Carolina GOP, it doesn’t surprise me. All the southern state GOP’s are racists and everyone knows it. Ah well, so much for a “change” in the tone of campaigning. The Dems and Repubs are just the same when it comes to power. They’ll do anything to get it and don’t care what damage it may inflict. A curse on both of your houses…

Way to go North Carolina GOP. American citizens need to know the truth about Obama and his “friends” and “allies”. Thanks for having the guts to do this ad. If I were a super delegate who has openly supported Obama I would start getting real nervous about now. Stay tuned there’s more of this to come. If Obama is on the ticket as either Pres or VP many Democrats who will not vote for Obama will also begin scrutinizing any of their elected officials if they voted for Obama. What goes around comes around and I personally have a very long memory. Super delegates and the DNC should have vetted Obama much more. How did he make it into the US Senate even? Do we not do background checks? Thanks to the media (ABC News, Fox News) and the blogsites (Rezkowatch, HillBuzz, FamilySecurityMatters, etc.) for helping to bring these important facts about Obama’s ties and the truth about him to the public’s attention.

To ryan
McCain can only control the RNC.
To blame McCain for this is unfair.
He can’t control local state parties whose leaders are elected locally.
Can Bush control the actions over every state governor who is a republican.
Federal Vs State.
McCain can only control the RNC.
McCain has pledged the RNC and McCain’s campaign will run a respectful campaign.
McCain can only implore them not to run the ad.
McCain got the tennessee state party not to run the flier with hussein on it. But ultimately McCain can’t fire leaders elected at the state level.
It is amazing how little the american people know about McCain.
McCain is hated by these state party gop officials. They are activists who campaigned against McCain.
The left bashes McCain as the big bad conservative when the conservatives hate him.
What a joke.

Looks like another 4 more years of Bush!

Can bush fire a republican governor? Does bush have authority over them.
Of course not.
The governors are elected at the state level.
They are elected locally. Same thing with North Carolina GOP.
McCain can’t fire officialsl who are elected at the state level.
If you are going to hold McCain to this standard why didn’t you ask Bill Clinton to fire democratic governors when they did something wrong during his presidency.
Because he couldn’t. It is against the constitution.
McCain has no juristiction over officials who are elected locally. The constitution says so.
Federal vs state.

This whole guilt by association is idiotic and food for the ignorant. If the behavior and character of one person reflects on another just because they associate with each other, we ALL have to plead guilty to that one. All these people who point their fingers at any candidate for this is an ignorant fool. How many of you have known or associated with somebody throughout your life that has said or done some shameful things? Get over the BS distractions that both parties are using and get as passionate about the issues as you are about this crap. Answer this, HOW does it affect me or the people I care about? Use that as your measuring stick of importance. Or here is another crazy thought, how about measuring a persons character by examining THEIR character. Get a grip people!

how can you judge a person’s character other than by their actions and their associates? You can’t read inside their heads and you can’t simply take everyone (especially a politician, LOL) at his/her word.

And his first visit to New Orleans. He don’t deserve to walk on their ground!
It is a little late. His priority was a trip across the world to raise money from a dinner “fundraiser” in Paris with

govtDr – there are many flaws to your logic. Using your logic, if a corrupt police officer is working at a station then everyone else working there is just as corrupt? Or you yourself think and believe in exactly the same things as everyone you associate with? No disagreements ever? Be realistic and truthfull with yourself and you will see that these are nothing but distrations from the real issues. Judge someone’s character by the actions of their associates (especially politicians) and you ignorantly assume that everyone is as good as the worst of them. So if one politician is corrupt then they all are according to your logic.

Obama will wipe me out financially with his 40% dividend tax mostly, but also when I go to sell my house his 28% capital gains will ruin me. Plus he wants a global tax, carbon tax, fuel tax, estate tax, and a national real estate tax, his corporate taxes will drive daily living costs through the roof, and that doesn’t even include his income taxes! At $30K/year I would pay $4,900 more per year under an obama regime! http://www.blogatroid.com/taxes2008.htm
Obama’s been constantly evasive about how he’d pay for his 1.13 trillion in global giveaways and an eXTRA 50billion in domestic wasteful spending.

obama is the only candidate who refuses to stop making sense or start streams of meaningless rhetoric. he alone has shown good judgement on issues such as the iraq resolution that hillary helped to deliver to the white house. he makes a good point that experienced folks like cheney and rumsfeld have been a living breathing nightmare for this country. if we have one more status quo president in office, it wont matter who we elect anymore. power will very soon be too consolidated for the american citizenry to hold its government accountable for anything… assuming it hasnt crossed that line already

I think it is sad that the American people find it so easy to attack each other on any subject. Although our great nation was founded on freedom of speech the almost steady stream of attacks on each other is what makes America seem weak to outsiders. The truth is that the common man does not go around bashing other races most Americans in fact are just trying to get by from day-to-day. If you live separated from other races, most of the time it is because you are born in to a community that is segregated. Most common People do not care what others are doing it is the extreme bigots like Reverend Wright that some how rise to power that give racist power he is no different than a K.K.K leader. All people after all are clear sprits in the eyes of God.

What makes this ad particularly offensive is that it involves smearing two people who have endorsed Obama. Is this the message of the Republican Party. McCarthyism. ?

What kind of a reply is: “…I cannot impose my will on people who are the elected leaders of their own party.” Is this not his party too? If he is running for President; what does this say about his ability or inability to persuade other members of our government, or the voters as to why he should even be an elected official??? Why isn’t the media all over this type of racist perversion by the GOP. Why is race an issue in this the year 2008? And finally why isn’t there a louder cry for removing this woman from her post? This is a very sad day for America.

WOMEN UNITE: HILLARY leads in popular votes. She received more votes in a primary than any democratic candidate in history. She has won all the big states and the critical swing states that really count in November: California, New York, Ohio Pennsylvania, Florida and Michigan. No democratic candidate can win in November without these states. Obama has won more states, but the states he has won are GOP states. So in November they really don’t count. Hillary wins in primaries where more people vote, and Obama wins caucuses where less people vote. That really speaks for itself. Obama is trying to suppress the votes in Florida and Michigan and stands in the way of Florida and Michigan delegates being seated in the convention. We do not want a president who wants to suppress millions of votes in Florida and Michigan so that he can claim lead in popular vote and steal the election from Hillary. If he has no problem suppressing millions of votes in Florida and Michigan in order to get the democratic nomination, we don’t know what he will do once he is elected. He defends his 20 year association with the anti-American and racist pastor. When Americans question his relationship with the racist pastor, Obama turns around and lectures Americans about racism. We really don’t know this guy. May be we should give Obama time to prove himself to this nation. We cannot entrust the reigns of this great nation to someone who has not proved himself through his actions. IT IS TOO RISKY.
The press has lost its credibility. They don’t care about truth and values these days. They are after sensationalism and novelty to sell their papers and attract new viewers. They are giving a free ride to Obama and are super critical of Hillary who has given her life time serving this country. Many of the male chauvinists cannot tolerate the idea of a Madam President. It is about time that we elect a woman president.

I am a white American and think it is sad when you start to single out one race as being failed there are just as many white children who are left behind. It is not a race thing it is the lack of parenting, and the need for some one who will step in and make the changes that are needed in our government, rather than just saying what they think we want to hear. The truth is the average American person is not stupid enough to fall for the lies if they will take the time to do a little research before they open their mouths and let their slurs fire. If you look at the over whelming evidence that is out there on all of the political candidates the clear choice will emerge. I have friends of all races, and I never think of the fact that they are of a different race until it is brought to light by ignorant people. I love them all equally.

This type of stupid politics will only keep states like North Carolina, South Carolina (conferate flag state) Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama stuck in the era of Jim Crow and stupid!!!!! This ad is fueled by racism and bigotry…..And you will turn a lot of folks off…..I now hope senators Burr and Dole loose next time…
Come on North Carolina!!!….Let us get all the silly republicans out of state wide office…
And when will rep. Mel Watt run for the U.S. senate? Have you not held that spot long enough Mr. Watt? Run against Burr or Dole….You keep sitting there, and I may run against you myself!!!!
The backlash from this stupid ad will probably cause the GOP to lose the governor race and the two US senate seats going forward….just watch and see.

This is so disturbing.
I was at work today and a coworker had a radio playing the soundbite of Obama’s Reverend. I tried to ignore it, I did. I heard it and it really distutrbed me.
I gave Obama money, lots of money. Money I could have used for my family and for the price of gas now. I feel betrayed by this rant of the Rev. I would like a refund.
I really believed that Obama was perfect. The perfect man to change America to the land of perfection. I knew he attended church, I loved him for that. Not when the reverend uses such language durring a sermon. So I am upset and unsure who Barack Obama is. Do I support him? I suppose, but with more caution.
No more surprises Obama. The Hillary supporting coworkers I have are having a blast at my expense. Very upsetting.
Try in a bathroom crying. So no more surprises for me.

the entire sermon gives the context to his GDA — he really meant what he said. And yes. GDA. He just provided his listeners enough reasons to hate America, and he did that well. If he is a private person doing a private conversation, then it’s probably fine, after all he is entitled to his own opinion. But think about it, he did this to convince 4000 of his listeners that America deserves hating!! And Obama lets his young daughters sitting there, being poisoned. And then Obama tells us he wanted unify the black and the white.

I wish we had a candidate that would actually tell a plan to brighten up a very bleak looking future here in America and deal with the Issues. I love this country and pray for it and all of our leaders daily if more Americans would do so this country might not be in such a mess. At the time all we have to choose from is he lesser of three evils. I think it is past time for the candidates to focus on the real Issues such a Health Care, A Failing Economy, and A Broken System.

I think he must had been responding off- the- cuff….. To raise the taxes on capital gains really do not make too much sense as many middle income folks receive capital gains from the stock market…..No, it’s not all a matter of some folks (as the senator said) who know how to work the stock market can benefit……
Watch this…. he will probably tone down that issue about raising capital gains taxes going forward….If he doesn’t, then someone just need to shake him a little…..

Sorry bud, but I’ve worked for both parties. I mean WORKED for them, not a volunteer. While your little org chart is nice and neat, it isn’t the reality of what goes on behind the scenes. If you really believe what you say, you don’t know what really goes on behind closed doors. And I’m telling you that McCain could stop the ad if he wanted to. It’s the same “I don’t like it but I can’t do anything about it..” routine that the pols know sounds good. But the people in party politics know how it really works.
Frankly, this is typical politics of using wedge issues. Lyndon Johnson knew that when he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Dems would lose the south for a generation or more. Face it, the southern state parties use wedge issues all the time….race, religion, sexuality…you name it, they use it. It’s the Bible Belt, for chrissakes and the politicos know what works with those rednecks. And since I live in a southern state, I know exactly how it works and why they use it.
So your little political lectures to the masses on here are nice, but naive as far as party politics go.

Why won’t Obama debate Hillary in Indiana? What is he hiding? Sign a petition to request Obama to debate Hillary in Indiana.

Why did Hillary back out of the first PA debate date and then basically force Obama to debate at a time chosen only by her? Your petition is an enormous joke. Do you actually labor under the misapprehension that it matters? Well hey, good luck with that whole being a gracious loser thing. You follow your leader well.

Although I respect your admiration with Mr Obama, I find it hard to believe that you are nieve to believe that was just a miss quote from him. I think alot of people have been blinded by his oratory skills and smile. Additionally do you really think he is not going to raise taxes? to support all the great ideas he has? If im not mistaken his plan calls for an additional 950 BILLION dollars, who the hell is going to foot the bill? you, me my grandchildren. Like I said America needs to wake up and get off their overweight A$$ and start taking care of themselves and quit relying on the GOVERNMENT because its people like me who are getting tired of it, you know the Typical white person

Most of the posters that are saying negative things about candidate Barack Obama are, infact, struggling to conceal an uncorfortable feeling that a black person may be the next president of the United States. This, they cannot imagine because thay have unconciously accepted the myth that the white house is a tradition meant only for “white” males.

I believe that is what many supporters of Obama believe they are doing. In many ways, the younger generation has now bought themselves a candidate. Some folks rebel with rocks and sticks and usually get quashed. Others elect the first truly progressive candidate in the Presidential race in the last generation. Is Obama perfect? Clearly not. Is he a Manchurian candidate? Don’t be daft. Is he a step away from the morass of filth that politics has become? We think so. Does he represent a step in the right direction? Quite possibly. Baby steps.

The ad is ran because Wright is linked to two NC gubernatorial candidates who endorsed Obama.I get it it’s the guilt by association tactic. So the two candidates are racist since they support Obama, who is supposedly racist because he listens to Wright.
Posted by: merle7 | April 24, 2008, 8:42 pm 8:42 pm
Betty, I think you need to calm down. Obama still has the best chance of winning the nomination. He has gotten an incredible amount if support from both blacks and whites. His record does not support his claims that he can make the changes he runs his campaign on. If he does lose the nomination it will have nothing to do with race. You are making race more of an issue then anyone else.

So do you support the idea of more taxes or not. If his off the cuff remark gave you concern then the blinding light to the obvious on his tax proposals should have you terrorfied. The money spent in Iraq is a seperate issue as I stated our nation has become lazy overweight and spoiled driving their gas guzzeling SUVs and last I checked America has about three years worth of oil left in reserves. We had to secure it from somewhere not that I agree with the way we went about it but its our society as a whole who is to blame. By the way your condescending attitude isnt warranted. BUD

There is an old cliché that covers McCain on this issue:
It’s called “”Having your cake and eating it too””.
McCain reaps the benefit from the damage to Obama’s image, while also gaining respect for condemning the AD.
There is nothing new here.
Unless McCain insists on the ad not running, he is being disingenuous.

TH:
I will be willing to withstand a bit increase in taxes than to have an administration who cannot seem to relate to all people…….Notice: this article pertains to how the GOP will stop at nothing to play the race card in the deep south…..Jesse Helms did it against mayor Harvey Gant for the US senate race……It was done recently in Tennessee when rep. Harold Ford, Jr. ran against Bob Coker……Ford was clearly the better candidate….The Republican party has not demonstrated a level of connection to African American and poor people….Where did the “so called” great Ronald Reagan announce his candidacy for president? He did it in Philadelphia, Mississippi….He talked about states rights….Well, this is the same place where the three Civil Rights workers were murdered only 14 years earlier…..the incident that sparked the movie Mississippi Burning….Talking about “state rights, huh?” That is code for: “Keep the federal government out of prosecuting these murderers.” Right? These are the kind of tactics the Republicans use………I sort of liked Mike Hucabee (sic), until he made the nonsensical remarks in support of the confederate flag in South Carolina….At least senator McCain spoke out against that racist symbol….
So, while some folks continue to cling to guns and religion; others, in the south keep clinging to racism and that stupid battle flag……..I’m tired…
But, I’ll take a democrat for president anytime over a Republican….except it be general Colin Powell…..

If Hillary steals this election from Barack I and many other economically-conservative Independents might very well vote for McCain. But this kind of behavior makes him look totally impotent as a leader.
If he can’t stop the commercials and his leadership reputation is on the line, then buy the ad space right after the Rev. Wright commercials to denounce it. Otherwise stop saying you’re a different kind of politician. He may be trying to have his cake and eat it too, but it just makes him look like a buffoon imo

The disgusting ads recently run by the NC GOP party attack not only Obama, but also Perdue and Moore for endorsing him. When a party attacks candidates that haven’t yet won the nomination — in such an ill-manner way – they’re showing they’re scared. Scared that Obama offers hope to change things for the better.
The GOP may like big oil running our energy policy and pharmaceuticals running healthcare, but I don’t. And I think much of America agrees, judging from Obama’s widespread support and fundraising from small donations.
If you want change, Obama’s the one — he’s intelligent, will be respected by world leaders and is the only candidate who isn’t shackled by ties to big business and other organizations.

Maybe Obama needs to talk to Mitt Romney?
When the far left was talking about the Mormon religion and trying to tie Romney to 100-year-old Mormon customs, Romney was able to stop much of that.
Obama needs to put this baby to bed.
But Rev. Wright seems to like the spotlight. Before he retires to his multi million-dollar mansion, Wright is getting some “face time” on ABC and PBS.
The clock keeps ticking…

Alot of new voters turnout for Obama, and alot more new voters turnout to against him in Pennsylvania to help Hillary won. In November, alot Independen voters, Democrat voters and Republican voters turnout to against Obama, then he will not get more than 30% of the vote, and McCain will win the presidency.

I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry.
We’re arguing about three largely indistinguishable career politicians, none of whom has ever really held a real job, each of whom is feverishly doing what politicians do – attempting to convince the largest number of people that a vote for them means something for nothing for you.
Yesterday it was social security, medicare, medicade, welfare, etc… Today it’s healtcare, daycare, cheap gas, college tuition, whatever.
Meanwhile, we’ve already racked up $53 TRILLION dollars in unfunded promises for social security and medicare alone – nevermind the cost of the Iraq war, nevermind the huge debts we owe to foreign governments, nevermind the huge amount of interest owed on money already borrowed, nevermind that the value of the dollar is rapidly turning to dust.
My point? Our country is utterly bankrupt thanks to venal politicians like these three, each of whom is offering their variation on how to toss more gas on the fire. After all, we’re entitled to “solutions” to our problems, and “somebody” else is going to foot the bill. Funny how that happens when the bottom half of wage earners pay 3% of federal income taxes.

A lot of commentators here think ignorance is bliss. No it is not. It actually is bankruptcy of the mind. If I had my way, only those who have read and understand the History of America should be allowed to vote and elect leaders. Those who cannot read and reason ought not to be allowed to vote because they often exercise bad judgement.

When you talk about the Change this Country needs in Washington, The same old sleezy policticians get worried that their Game is up and get together to try to eliminate the outsider. Are we the People going to let them get away with this?
Clinton – McCain – Time for them to go. Yes – together WE can do it.

People please! All of this ridiculous bickering while those with lots of money laugh at you and tell you that they are for you. you are playing into their hands. Is your own ecnomic well being so great that you can spend all of your time defending rich politicians. Should we not have conversations about taking our country back from them. Did the gas prices go down, did soldiers stop dying, has education become more affordable?? Did not think so – and it will not happen until we all stop arguing about which rich person is the best or worst! Are you serious??

American citizens need to know the truth about Obama and his “friends” and “allies”.
support to air the ad

FINALLY!!! It has only taken a year for people to actually become interested in Obama’s background. It’s great that the Repubs are going to use the Rev. Wright video. Everyone should see it. This is the man that Obama called his second father! This is the man that Obama said he consulted about EVERYTHING! This is the man that Obama LIED about when he said he had NEVER heard any of his negative sermons! Clinton’s hands have been tied for six months because the press fell in love with the idea of a black man running for president. When Ferraro simply made the statement that Obama wouldn’t be where he was if he was white the press crucified her–even though it was a true statement.
The only reason why McCain doesn’t want this ad shown now is because its too early. Obama isn’t the candidate yet. He would have much rather had it wait until after next August.
I hope the Repubs show Obama’s wife, Michelle and the words rolling out of her mouth “For the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country!”
It is past time for Obama to receive the kind of scrutiny Clinton has had to live with for the past 16 years.
The only reason he was given a buy from the press was because he was black. I’m not on anyone’s campaign staff so my right to free speech has been taken away YET!

Senator Clinton netted a total of 14 delegates out of Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. If she had thirty more states as big as those three and had the same results, she could almost catch Obama, but not quite. She netted 10 delegates out of PA. If she had another 15 Pennsylvanias to go and she won them all in similar numbers, she could almost catch Obama. The democratic party made the rules and all the states had their vote on making those rules. The rules are that delegates are the winning numbers. You can bet your cookies that if Mrs. Clinton had a whopping delegate lead, we wouldn’t be hearing any of the three hundred reasons why it doesn’t matter who the people chose by the rules. And Obama still has 500,000 vote lead in the popular vote. And twice as many states won. In order for super delegates to overturn the will of the people, they would have to be willing to never win another election for themselves. I don’t think that’s real likely. Democrats better hope for and work hard for the 50 state demographics or else some other new plan because that old traditional big state deal hasn’t worked so well for us. Sure we had Bill Clinton, but if you wonder who was the last two full term democratic president before him——–IT WAS HARRY TRUMAN. You know—before television for regular people, 15 cent/gal gas, bread was 9 cents a loaf and the minimum wage was 40 cents. Coke was 23 cents for 6 bottles at the grocery store and postage stamps were 3 cents. A very, very long time ago. We’d better come up with a better plan unless we want to be ruled by and for wealthy people exclusively.

How about we learn the truth about all of the candidates. What amazes me is that people only want to hear the bad stuff about the candididate they oppose. Do any of you think that there is a single candidate without problems and struggles. There is a lot of talk her about obama and rev – what about the fact the clintons had rev wright at white house and he counseled clinton monica scandal, how about the really crazy staff that ws said my mccain’s minister, how about the fact that hillary represented a child molester against a young girl when she was an attorney. If any of you think your rich candidate does not have problems you have tunnel vision. Stop arguing about all of these rich people and let’s figure out how to reduce gas prices so we can get to work and school everyday.

Clinton and McCain have gone to the war in Iraq, not because they did not read the intelligence briefing but we need oil, the interest of this country. People don’t have to codemn the 8,000 innocent people. If they (children) want to improve their live, they should go for good education other than listennig to Wright. Otherwise, it will be hard for them to compete with other children.

I agree with Typical white person. American need to know much as much all the truth about all candidates, as long as the ad is the truth.
I support to air the ad.

This is for Tony, I agree with you my son has been in the bed for a while now however he has been studying the history of government and has been keeping a very close watch on the elections since before the Republican primary. He made a comment on here earlier that talked about how he feels the candidates compare with past candidates unfortunately he wasn’t allowed to speak his mind I guess because of his age he stated that he was 12. Maybe next time he will not tell his age. I think he could have educated a few of these individuals on both the history of our country and the election process and political views. Here is a tip from a 12 year old child for all of you. Write down the political questions that are important to you. Watch the debates and press coverage, see who addresses your concerns and the things that affect you the most, then you will be able to make an informed decision on election day.

You will see in November!
Hillary supporters will go for McCain!
And before nancy and Howard do the short cut our message will be sent!
WE , REGISTERED DEMOCRATS ARE CHANGING TO INDEPENDANT IN CASE WE NEED TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN vs. Obama!
Posted by: David | April 25, 2008, 12:18 am 12:18 am
The McCain team doesn’t know where this is coming from. Yeah right. It sort of reminds me of ads run against McCain in 2000 in South Carolina telling people that McCain had an illegitimate black child. If we remember correctly the Bush team said the same thing. It seems to be the Republican calling card. The straight talk express just derailed!!!
Why am I not surprised?
Posted by: dk | April 25, 2008, 12:19 am 12:19 am
hey david,
It is a good idea!
If the Deocratic Party still does not seat FL and won’t doover MI, and tries a short cut , I will change my postion.
I will register as an independant and vote for mcCain too!
When should I do it?
Do you know?
Thanks,

Voting for McCain is cutting off your nose to spite your face as they say. If they don’t seat the delegates and disenfranchise voters, and Barack Obama wins the nomination I too will have a hard time voting for him come November but I certainly will not vote for John McCain. I will either vote 3rd party or I’ll sit this one out.
Posted by: dk | April 25, 2008, 12:24 am 12:24 am
dk, However bad the choices seem we get no where by sitting it out. Take the advice in the earlier posting make the list check it twice and vote your conscience.

After all, NC is the home of Jesse Helms, one of the dirtiest campaigners in history. If the people cannot see through the diversions, they deserve what they get.

This is the funniest, most entertaining post I’ve read. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and anyone who is not having a good time has only himself to blame. You guys truly are the best!
And now about all that racial divide, we located it. Appears to have been streaming out of Rev Wright’s mouth – into the hearts and minds of otherwise decent people for the past 20 years.
You see hate is something you have to keep alive or it dies. It has no life of it’s own. Someone has to remind you to hate. Love lives on and lingers forever; it is a form of nourishment.
Fortunately the diversity in our country makes us great. Not our ability to separate and blame, but our ability to include others.
I think we do a good job compared to the third world countries that I’ve lived in. So I am not in favor of an entirely new system. Too much change is overwhelming. I’m not looking for any massive change. A good strategy by a seasoned politician will bring the big ship back into balance over time. Our basic principles are sound.
Obama does not even say what all his change would be modeled on. Except perhaps some vague, squishy hope thing. Which truthfully sounds lame to anyone over 25 who pays rent. (Present posters excepted)
The people in this world who now hate us really hate us, even more than Rev Wright hates us. So we should take a 2-fold approach to that. 1). make friends, while 2). protecting assets.
That job would then rightly go to the laundress, the lady that can iron a shirt! Yes ladies and gentlemen we need someone who can build bridges, take a kick-back and still make it on time to the ribbon cutting ceremony for bigger, wasteful spending.
But better we spend it on ourselves than handing it out to mercenaries or attempting to refit the entire system. Sorry boys the lady takes the cake! And we need more spent at home right now.
It’s more practical to work with what we’ve got and go forward from there. I’m not disgruntled, I don’t hate anyone, I’m not afraid to work for it and the war is obscene.

Come November I will be voting for Clinton for President even if it means a write in vote. I wouldn’t vote for Obama or McCain if someone paid me big bucks to do it. I wonder if the Dems would be in this predicament if someone other than Dean was running the DNC? Something Dean should remember from when he ran in 2000, while its nice that all these students have come out to support Obama students are not dempendable voters. They weren’t when they voted for Dean and they won’t be when voting for Obama.
And I have to say I am getting really tired of the excuses not to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida. Obama may have taken his name off the ballot in Michigan, but he had his people campaigning here and his supporters were told to vote “uncommitted”. In fact they had television ads saying that a vote for “uncommitted” was a vote for Obama. Then I would like to remind you that all the campaigns were told they were not to CAMPAIGN in Michigan. So much for following the rules, huh?
Posted by: zara48909 | April 25, 2008, 1:36 am 1:36 am
I don’t buy that McCain doesn’t want this ad to be aired. This is an old Republican ploy. Get someone to do your dirty work, say you are opposed to it, and reap the benefits at the same time, all the while looking like you are a good guy. It a is sneaky strategy which sometimes works if the truth isn’t pointed out by some meddling comment!
Posted by: Two-cats | April 25, 2008, 2:09 am 2:09 am
There’s nothing ‘tough’ about this guy. He simply doesn’t back up his beliefs – that is, unless his beliefs are to appear as a lukewarm fence sitter. This is just the latest example of his limp wrist when confronted with right or wrong.
If elected president, McCain will be the laughingstock of the UN with his feebleness.
Posted by: s | April 25, 2008, 2:26 am 2:26 am
i doubt whether he will see through his term. even still i feel obama is the correct person considering his charisma and influential prowess.

How dense can you McCain haters be?
McCain has no juristiction over a state party.
It would be like saying a president has responsiblity over what every republican governor does.
McCain only has juristiction over the national RNC.
The state north carolina republican party leaders are elected locally. McCain has ZERO power over him.
Please McCain drop out of the race.
The media is smearing you.
You are too honorable to have your integrity smeared by this horrific campaign.
McCain can’t fire local leaders elected locally.
Just like a president can’t fire a governor.
McCain is why a moderate can never win.
The conservatives hate him.
The north carolina republican party hates McCain.
For the left to say McCain is in on this is laughable. The state party hates him.
So you have the conservatives hating McCain and the independents thinking McCain is a conservative and not voting for him and the left hating McCain.
McCain is why a moderate can never win.
It is disgraceful how McCain is being smeared over something he has no power over.
All McCain can do is pledge to run his campaign in a respectful way and pledge that the national RNC will run a respectful campaign.
I hate our political system. McCain is smeared by rockeffeller for being a pilot and the american people are fine with that.
What part of federal vs state don’t the media and the american people not understand.
It would be like blaming president obama or president clinton for every action of a democratic governor.
McCain has no authority to control state leaders who are elected locally.
He can’t fire him. The constitution sepearates federal vs state offices.
Why is the american public so dense.
I hate our political system where a good man like McCain gets smeared.
The worst election campaign EVER EVER EVER.

Well, as an Obama supporter, I agree with McCain that there isn’t much he can do politically to get the NC GOP to pull the ad. I do think he secretly wants them to go forward with it to sort of litmus test this type of attack ad on the public to see how well it would play out.
That being said, this is exactly the sort of reason why it would be DUMB for Obama to accept public financing. These types of independant groups are difficult to stop, even if they are acting against the will of the candidate they are supporting. I think this is a preview of how McCain will treat such actions. If a 527 group puts out a horrindous attack ad, McCain will say he denounces it but he can do nothing about it. That’s fine. He IS trying to win an election. But, Obama will have the resources to fend off such attacks.

Post-Wright vote totals Clinton lead is over 200,000.
Posted by: geevill | April 25, 2008, 8:41 am 8:41 am
McCain is a pea brain. This Wright issue is critical and to bury it and keep defending Obama like he did regarding Obama’s middle name just hurts America. Obama is too cowardly to defend himself, yet he is seeking to be this countries Chief Commander of defense of our country.

If we were to redo the early primaries (Iowa, etc.) today- the outcome would be very different and Obama would be out. The DNC & Superdelegates need to take a good long hard look at this. If they throw out FL & MI – then they should throw out the early primaries when no one knew who or what Obama was other than a speech maker.
Posted by: this election counts | April 25, 2008, 2:27 pm 2:27 pm
I do not believe that they will not air
that horrible ad against Obama. N.C.,
Indiana, and all the rest of the Primaries. They will air the ad and they will get their way with a Hillary win. The Republicans can’t wait to throw
Her and Bill’s past up in their face.

What would Ronald Reagan do?
The North Carolina Republican Party is too extreme for North Carolina = stop them NOW. Send a protest donation to the NC Democratic Party, and email the NC Republican Party to tell them what you’ve done and WHY.
We need two strong parties in the US. We cannot sit by while one of them is hijacked by raving idiots.

Excuse me please! McCain is saying he could not stop the ads?? He started them. If he found the ad in bad taste, he certainly could have stopped them. This tells me one thing, He has miss spoken like Hillary, and if he can’t stop a little ad, how in the heck can he run the White House?? Shame on you McClain, we middle class Americans are not as dumb as you think we are. As far as your good buddy Bush, those rebate checks are a joke!! Like giving candy to a child to pacify them for a time!!

“As one who attends a UCC church, I would ask other UCC parishioners to contact this PAC and ask them to bring down this ad in the next 2 days, or we will expose McCain for what he truly is , i.e. an Episcopalian disguised as a Baptist!!!!
: – )
Given Senator Obama’s repudiation of Rev. Wright’s ill advised remarks, this last minute nonsense is way over the top.”
