Obama’s Controversial Former Pastor Criticizes Media at Funeral
ABC News’ Jan Simmonds Reports: The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor of Sen. Barack Obama, fired back at the news media during a Chicago funeral service on Saturday. Wright didn’t mention the Democratic presidential hopeful by name but did call out some of his critics, including Fox News commentators Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, at times drawing standing ovations from the 2,500 mourners in attendance.
He said: "Fox News can’t understand that. O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe." Wright also referred to Fox News as "Fix News."
Saturday’s funeral at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago was closed to reporters but Sun-Times had a reporter inside the church. The newspaper’s Web site Sunday carried a recording of Wright’s remarks at a eulogy.
You can listen to the eulogy by clicking HERE:
Wright also made his first public appearance in Norfolk, Virginia today since the furor over his remarks criticizing the United States. He once again made no mention of Obama.
Wright emerged as major problem for Obama after some of his sermons in which he made incendiary comments popped up on the Internet.

Obama has been saying that words are important. He chooses bad words to describe small town America. What does this say about Obama? Now words don’t matter? Do we want such a person for President? It is too risky to gamble on Obama. Hillary should be the candidate against McCain.

Pretty clear to me that Hannity defamed the Reverend by taking the worst things this man had ever said and got the entire nation to rally around a “Old Black Men Shouldn’t Be Angry” flag.
Thank God for Mike Huckabee, who said in the aftermath of the scandal, that Obama is of a different generation, and why did it take Huckabee to ask the question of how many white men would be angry if they had been subjected to Jim Crow.
Its a question almost no Republican or Reagan Democrat has asked themselves. Would you still feel the same about America if, in your lifetime, you had been riding on the back of the bus, and looking forward to a career as a porter, caddy, or shoe shine man?

I love it! I just hope he continues to talk at more funerals so he can bury himself and Obama just a little more. why does obama supports keep bringing up the monica issue, oh never mind it is just like bringing up the issue of slavery….isn’ all that history? and it wasn’t Hillarys affair…it was bill’s. however when you bring up wright/obama, everyone wants to say oh thats just obama’s preacher….didn’t he marry obama and baptize obama’s kids?

What kind of preacher is he? … this was said at a funeral? … and the people applauded? … aren’t funerals supposed to be about the person who died? Why hasn’t someone in the so called “MSM” tried to find this guy (Wright) and interview him as to his views? Certainly in the past, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and other fundamentalist pastors have been critically questioned by the networks, why not Wright?

If Rev. Wright is not in Obama’s head, heart, and soul he would not have spoke his version of truth when he made his comments about small town America. If that’s what Obama and the Rev. @ Indus,
You have to listen to the whole sermon to understand it in full context. Rev. Wright did not blame the US for all the world’s ill, but he calls out the US on things they are responsible for..
Rev Wright was a nurse in the military, who even helped with the operating on President L Johnson.
Its just very wild that Fox news and their pundits are calling him a racist and his church a separatist church when he has white members and Trinity is part of a church organization lead by a White man.

Jeremiah Wright AND Obama’s apologies only make matters worse for the Democratic Party.
It’s like Obama’s “typical white grandmother comment”. Remember how he compared his “white grandmother” to “Jeremiah Wright”, so he didn’t have to apologize for Wright’s radical remarks in a church of God?
Now he is comparing Pennsylvanians to his home state of IL. He is calling his home state of IL (and several others) “god fearing, gun, toting, racists” like he did with his “typical white grandmother”. Maybe he feels the people will forgive him if he throws his home state under the bus.
That big bang you just heard is the OBAMA BUSMOBILE crashing into the wall of “truth and honesty”.

Pastors and prophets are seldom easy to listen to, and Rev. Wright is no exception to his lineage. Options available to USA/Americans is the same as it has been throughout history: blame the messenger, and continue headlong onto the road of destruction, or listen, even when you don’t like what you hear, take it to heart, and change your ways, to get back into the grace of God. Read: II Chronicles 7:14

Its just so easy to blame everyone else for the problems of Rev Wrights people. Blame the government for all the people who have aids and do drugs. Blame fox news for actually reporting what Rev Wright preaches. It is so easy for the Rev to blame everyone else. What he needs to do is have people like himself look in the mirror and take responsibilty for their actions. Take the easy way out Rev by blameing others. The odd thing is some people actually believe his worthless rhetoric.

Foxnews is unfair and ubalanced. Has anybody heard anything about McCain from Foxnews, wake-up. Bill Oreilly and Hannety have started to support McCain since it was known that he was the republican presidential candidate and they continue to bash Obama because Hill the Bosnian Sniper and his supporter Ed have appraised FowNews for attacking Obama, his church and former pastor. Nobody has heard about McCain’s church and controversial pastors or Hill’s church. Duble standard. Obama’s pastor is not on the ballot, the word “bitter” is twisted and taken out of context by Hill the Bosnian General who has received 800 000 to ship over American jobs to Colombia as she has done with NAFTA. God bless NYT, WP, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, CBS, God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Howard Dean, I know you are busy trying to cover your _______, Nancy Pelosi, I realize you are busy trying to act like you know what you are doing…. let’s see, Kennedy and Kerry, oh no, guess you didn’t feel it was important to stay neutral, now you are stuck with this man and his “close anti-American friends” (by the way, his friends reflect on you and your judgment also). Let’s see, that leaves us with who? Al Gore???? He seems to be the only smart one keeping his distance from this guy. Wonder why?
If I’m sounding a little bitter it is becuase I am. The democrats should have won this race hands down, but once again, got on a bandwagon and supported the most liberal senator who has had to repeatedly answer questions about his homage to America – the VERY LAST THING a presidential candidate should ever have to do.

Rev. Wright bought himself a 1.6 million

“non-negotiable commitment to Africa”?

Wright …a pastor who is talking about loving a “brother” (in Christ, supposedly?) says this about a fellow Christian: “Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe.” …So where’s the love for a brother in that comment? Does love include calling another brother in Christ “stupid”? Or are “brothers” only black to a black man while in a white church “brother” means fellow believer? … And what a bunch of heathens to applaud and give a standing ovation to this kind of vitriol at a FUNERAL!

Yes are cultures are different but it is one Race and that is the Human Race and we as a country need to try very hard to understand one other. Let stop all this and let us try very hard to show Love. All this hate in people hearts will get us no where and what will get us somewhere is Love. I think that adults need to grow up, and people like Lewis Farakan and Rev. Wright should be promoting racial harmony instead of anachary. This year’s democratic primary is very particular in respect of the 2 candidates- a celebration for the civil rights mouvement in the US. I have to say that i am very shocked of the divisive, racist comments of fox news particularly Sean Hannity. It’s make think that Fox news is a racist channel.
This campaign is getting nastier and nastier and politics don’t worth it.
I think American people are ready to turn the page of race in their history – Barrack is the highlight of it. I am just shocked of people saying black pepole, white people ; only human beings exist. I don’t know what funerals they attend, but I don’t think the minister presiding over the mourners took one second to speak of Rev. Wright’s failings. Why is it accepted for Rev. Obama Supporters….does it bother you that Obama went to a church for 20 years where the pastor dislikes whites and is anti-american. If this were Hillary, you would shred her. I used to be under the Obama spell too, I know it is hard, he is charming and has a nice pitched voice, but really….look at the writing on the wall.

For his remarks, for his anger, he will receive the same judgment of those of any color preaching hate and prejudice. Hatefull and prejudice preachers need to be dumped by any person – you are not getting any of the spirit of God, you are taking in the hate – and then you return it back to those targeted.
Obama’s wife speaks of more jobs for the US, yet she is an integral part of the Super highway running from Canada into Mexico TO PICK UP ITEMS FROM CHINA —- NOT US WORKERS. Wait till you see that one. It has already wiped out landowners, and they are not all white – the are people of all ethnicities.
I wouldn’t touch these guys with a stick… after thinking of all the bloopers, I would like someone who will maintain jobs for US citizens and veterans. Not illegal aliens from any country as Obama has great sympathy for…. 280,000 jobs lost in the last month.. oh but they will hire illegal skipping across heading for an immigration attorney and Mexico is the singular largest contributor to bastardizing our countries immigration laws.
He hasn’t even made comment on the Al Qaida sweeping across Africa. Guess he really doesn’t care.
It is socialism at best.
As far as him pulling out troops.. lolll
he tries to hard to paint a picture that is palatable to every sops –
and it is far too late to find a new palette.
He is lucky he has a good speech writing team

After all the things that Obama, Michelle and Wright have said white America will never vote for him. That’s not a racist comment just a fact!
Posted by: jim | April 13, 2008, 5:20 pm 5:20 pm
Sure there’s racism in this country. But what shocked the majority of white people who have made great efforts in the past 40 years to change their thinking was that they are still so hated. Sorry you pro-Obama, pro-Wright people can see that. You expected the white people to change, but not the blacks. And that will be Obama’s undoing.

I happen to agree with Rev Wright. Hillary has never been called the”N” word! Rich white people run this country. Not rich black, hispanic, jewish or asian people. Look at the crimes committed against blacks and the crimes whites commit to our society at a whole. Sirhan Sirhan, Charles Manson, Scooter Libby all alive and well. Stanly Williams, James Byrd dead! Who blew-up Oklahoma City building, Columbine, Waco, Texas, Enron, Desert Shield/Storm, Louisiana during Katrina! Wasn’t Barack or Michelle Obama. In fact,I could go on and on like some of you. Let’s take a look in the mirror first before we start accusing people.

How many times does Obama have to hit you over the head before you get it? He hates whites! Why is that so hard for some of you to understand.

Having bought into Pastor Wright’s “bitterness” about America, Fox News, Jews, Asians and pretty much everybody else for over 20 YEARS, it is not surprising that SNOB-AMA thinks that people who do not support him blindly and fawn over him are “bitter.” As the media and elites would say-classic case of projectionism.

You seem to have missed the part where he calls Thomas Jefferson a pedophile.
How can Barack Obama who calls this man his spiritual advisor of 20 years expect to be elected president.
His church hates America.

Helen: If a person was raped, and their rapist has a change of heart and becomes a better person…is the victim going to easily forgive them? I give this example because what is rape? It is humiliation. It is disrespect. This is what blacks suffered under legalized policies up until the 60′s. Some of those people are still alive. That being said, most of the white people in my generation did not have anything to do with the jim crow laws of yesterday. I understand that and respect that. Older black Americans are not upset with younger white Americans…they are upset with their grandparents.

Does anyone else feel a speech coming on. I bet Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are already salivating at that thought. Of course, when it is all said and done, it will be perfectly clear that it was Hillary’s fault and the fault of small town Americans. I’m already starting to feel guilty – I just haven’t been told about what yet. Hopefully I’ll know tomorrow.

The delight of the posters here today is no suprise. We already knew how you felt. This is what we expected, but Obama will continue to get the support of Americans who want to live in a united society with opportunity for all. And the reasons you use now against Obama are just excuses for the real reasons you would never have supported his candidacy in the first place. This election is about America moving in a better direction for all it’s citizens, not just the racial group with the largest population, or the racial group of the next president, or the gender. Stop buying into the sterotypes and generalizations. Pray to God to bless us all, human beings. Amen

Obama stands for the same thing Rev Wright does.
Just Obama uses words to trick the people.
His plan is the same as wrights.
He wants to take from the rich and give to the poor.
He wants to stop giving tax breaks to business and industry
He wants to raise the min wage
He wants to give more to the poor
He wants housing affordable
He wants health care affordable
He wants to give money to go to college
and have them work for the government. Communist countries do that.
He wants more programs for the poor
He wants to tax the rich more.
He wants to change government, Not fix it, not clean it up. He wants to change it. I wouldn’t doubt if he already has a new constitution written and ready to go. Giving blacks their birth right, as Rice talked about.
He is a tricky shyster, a scam man.
He is the black Savior, ready to give them the promised land, Our land of the Untied States of America.
He did ask “Help me build a kingdom on earth” you thought he was kidding?
Beware what you vote for, It might bite you in the seat of your pants.
His best friends are some pretty low life people, who he owes so much to.
Rezko a crook and Muslim friends, Wright
a religious nut who feels like America owes the blacks everything, idolized Farakam, Farakam a Muslim Fanatic, Ayers
someone who bombed his own country, for islam. Sharpton and jackson who Blacks is the only people that matter in this land.
They have been part of his life over 20 years. They worked to get him where he is. He owes them and he is indebted to them. They will make sure he pays up,
That is what you can believe in about obama.
He will sell you out in a second as he did in San Francisco.
Once elected he needs you no more.

Freedom Watcher, I have seen Bill O’Reilly’s show until you realize you have to be a hateful American to really appreciate his show he is not wrong on everything but when it comes to blacks and whites he cant counsel a situation good enough to be on national TV. I think it says something when a channel like MSNBC almost daily call him the worst person in the world. all media are biased. cnn and msnbc are so liberal. So you need fox news to even it out. Nowaday, you have to watch all the channels then make conclusion for yourself. say whatever you want about fox news but if it wasn’t because of them, you would never have learned more about an unknown candidate obama. anderson cooper cnn said that he doesn’t wright is a big deal but he has to cover it because it floating around. Hillary has been on fox news numerous times and mccain has been on all other liberal channels as well but obama never (accept a few minutes to explain the pastor) on fox news. he’s not a uniter, he doesn’t want to reach out to conservatives. Obama supporters always say the people who don’t vote for now they weren’t going to vote for him anyway so it doesn’t matter. Well, i got news for you good luck with only the people who supported him before.

GO OBAMA—-OUR GREATEST HOPE—Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure; It is our Light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own Light shine, We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same As we are liberated from our fears, Our presence automatically liberates others. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a drink in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!”I believe that positive expectations will pay off if we are persistent enough to conquer the mistakes that we have made. We must learn from our mistakes, and if that leads to more mistakes, we must learn from those as well. Nothing is perfect in life but we can try to change for the better. Do not bore yourself with learning to be simply educated. Learn things that make you feel good inside and learn to hear the language of music with your ears. We need to grab life with both hands; if we don’t exert control over life, life will tend to control us, and decisions will be made for us. I believe that men occupy the world, but women occupy the spiritual essence of the entire universe–there are no men without the strength and power of women. I’ve learned that the perfect person we want is no longer just around the corner. Maybe the perfect match is not what we see on the outside but what radiates from within the person’s heart.

Some of you whites are insane. You just start talking nonsense without ever reading or listening to the whole deal, just like with the Rev. Wright sermon. 1st of all, the funeral where these comments were made….well it was a funeral for a PROMINENT black pol in Chicago. He would have totally welcomed the comments. You would have known that had you read more about it instead of saying it was “inappropriate” to say at a funeral. You didn’t have the intelligence to find out whose funeral. 2nd, until you self centered, amnesiac whites ever live in Jim Crow america then shut the F up. You think because you white people paint fairies and cherubs and suns with smiling faces that it wipes out the memories of the blacks who were treated non-human. Remember, SLAVERY ONLY ENDED AROUND 40 YEARS AGO. Because if you paid taxes in a country and spent your money but couldn’t walk in the front door of certain establishments to spend your money there, you were not free. But you jerks wouldn’t know the shame of that unless it happened to you. Well it happened to Rev. Wright. Walk a week in the shoes of a black man in this country during the time he did and you would shut the F up. Just because you idiots get selective amnesia doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Do you ask Jews to stop talking about the Holocaust? Rev. Wright served his country in a segragated Army while half of you but wipes never even served. How can you question his patriotism? Is Thomas Jefferson anti-american to say God will punish for slavery? How do you whites get at believing that because something is uncomfortable then it shouldn’t be mentioned? Because some people don’t agree with everything American that makes them un-American? Dummys… When you believe everything that a person or institution says or does, it’s called a cult. So I guess there is a white america cult where the sun always shines, nothing goes wrong, and everyone is perfect. Yeah right. Only when you’re in Oxycodone induces fantasy’s with Rush….

Rev. Wright has proven that racism is alive and well in this country — on both sides. Obama’s comments on “bitter” whites reveals a tendency to think in stereotypes that is not too far removed from Wright’s rantings. Frankly, I was leaning strongly toward Obama and still hope he gets the nomination but this is one white voter he has “lost” and in November I’ll vote for McCain.

Ameicans are represented by the ill-minded people who feed on hate and preach divission and distruction. look around, America is learning how to shere the supremacy of the world. the only nation that abused and destroyed the world for the last 15 years is now because of what Obama mentioned on his speach that Americans are tired of being lied and being left behind. You are siting on your chair typing words that tell the world how racist and uncaring country America is. Wake up people and try to see pictures that are biiger than your skins.

What an appropriate place to discuss the demise of televised journalism as it can be seen on by the hour on Fox News, at a funeral! Even a majority of other professional news people and commentators of either video or print agree and mention Fox’s illegitimacy often and repeatedly. If this country actually had an FCC that was interested in making and keeping America’s airwaves respectable, Fox would have been gone a long time ago. It is to accurate news reporting what porn is to family programing! You go, Pastor!

And another thing….you Oxycontin Whites keep talking about preaching hate and division. Well NEWS FLASH COMING HERE…. There IS hate & division. Just read some of these post. Whites keep calling Barack by his middle name, Hussein, intentionally trying to stir up something negative. The same whites who say Obama is devisive then turn around and point out his muslim heritage. Why? Because they don’t like Muslims. Isn’t that ironic? And they know other Americans are not comfortable with Muslims. So is it okay for whites to be “wary” or dislike muslims but if anyone else points out something, its that they are being devisive? You Oxycontin Rush whites are crazy. White people always have an excuse for not liking someone or something but when others do it you’re shocked. You are shocked that blacks understand Rev. Wright. Well NEWS FLASH…. Blacks are shocked that whites are shocked. We wonder what the F you white people do all during February when we talk about black history month. You whites act like just 40 years ago the federal government didn’t have to escort CHILDREN…DO YOU HEAR ME….CHILDREN to school. A simple google search will show the black girl going to school with the EVIL WHITE FACES yelling insults behind her. Imagine YOUR child having to go to school BY THEMSELF with all of that hate behind them, trying to act brave and not break down, cry, and run. That was everyday life for blacks. Of course some blacks are bitter. Duh….

HILLARY’s POOR JUDGMENT leaves AMERICANS FOOTING THE Bill
.
THE WAR IN IRAQ IS HAVING SERIOUS NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON OUR ECONOMY and those who voted for the war (i.e. hillary) should be to blame, in part, for the state of the US economy.
Look how the WAR IN IRAQ is affecting the US economy…
$3,000,000,000… 3 Billion dollars PER WEEK!
That is the amount America is paying for the Iraq War PER WEEK, money that should have been used here, at home.
Add to this:
Interest. We are financing the war with borrowed money (e.g. treasuries) that carries interest; so in actuality, the war is costing the United States MORE THAN 3 billion dollars PER WEEK.
Higher oil and energy prices. Instability in Iraq is adding roughly 30 dollars per barrel as a premium.
High utility bills. High oil prices mean high utility bills. Higher oil prices shifts demand to other sources of energy – gas, coal, etc. – and greater demand will raise the equilibrium price of all sources of energy — Can you say high energy bills?
Higher oil prices (a raw material used in the production of many goods, fertilizers, gasoline, diesel, plastics, etc.) mean higher prices of goods and services — Can you say INFLATION?
Higher oil prices mean a higher trade deficit because most of our oil comes from foreign sources. A higher trade deficit means more money is leaving the country than is coming into the country — Can you say Goodbye to your hard-earned money!
Our dollar is weak and getting weaker. Since we have a trade deficit and is growing in large part to the rising cost of imported oil, the value of goods and services we import exceeds the value of goods we export. You know that foreign car you’re thinking of buying or the computer you’re using, or that trip abroad you’ve been thinking of taking….well, guess what? It is going to cost more, Ceteris Peribus, because the dollar is weak and getting weaker.
Lastly, how do you think the world views our country since the argument was made for war? The evidence was weak and circumstantial, yet we rushed into war with Iraq thanks to hillary’s authorization.
.
Hillary VOTED FOR THE WAR

Nobama – “let’s bring back slavery!”
Are you insane? That is the most blantantly racist mark I have heard on ANY blog!!
Do you have any idea what it was like to a slave? Do some research – it was a life of hell.
What kind of person are you anyway to even suggest such a thing?

So why does ABC news not think its important that the pastor of 20 years and close personal advisor of a possible US President calls Thomas Jefferson a pedophile?
This man is nuts and Obama’s support of him and his church for 20 years disqualifies Obama for the presidency.
The MS needs to do its job.

@MiscMel:
Forty years ago … if you keep looking back, you will never move forward. Most of the people who was actively racist during those Jim Crow years are dead and gone. Most of the children of those who participated have spent most of their lives trying to atone for those dead. Those children proved they were different from their parents and grandparents when they voted for Obama. Obama’s help was not necessary. Obama threw them under the bus by continuing to support Reverend Wright. Hello? Reverend Wright? MOVE FORWARD! No one can take back the days you have already lived, but you shouldn’t color yours and others’ todays and futures with crayons already used. MLK’s dream will never come true if we only continue to mouth what he preached. He meant those words for all of us, not just white people. He understood that we all would have to make the effort, not just some of us because it not only involved a different way thinking, but a different way of doing. He knew that if a white hand was stretched out to meet a black hand, if the black hand was not extended too, they would never meet. I am black too, I see some of us blacks have carried over some of the same racist attittudes to others, Asian Americans and Latinos and we don’t even recognize it. Be careful -it IS possible to become what you have learned to hate. Most white people had nothing to do with slavery or racism, yet we continue to color them with the same broad strokes. Nobody is asking anyone to forget their history, we acknowledge it happened, but we cannot change it. For real, it is time to move on. If not now, then when?????
Just so you know, I am old enough to remember the “Whites Only” signs in store windows.
No, I’m NOT bitter! :D

This Blog from the very onset has as it’s focus, the political bashing as it relates to race. I would like to suggest that the blog itself is guilty of derailing us all from the real issues. Failing world economies, increasing food and water scaricity, joblessness, Nuclear weapons in the hands of waring nations and of course to an extent Global Warming. In conclusion I ask every one to put down their race differences and try to concentrate on the real issues that will be facing the next president. Please… Mark

I happen to agree with Rev. Wright – and the fact that 2500 gave him a standing ovation says something all in itself. I am sure that the politician, whose funeral Rev. Wright was speaking, would have agreed. No one outside this event has any right to judge anyone else. I am sure the family gave Rev. Wright the go ahead.

Rev. Wright is entitled to his opinions and he actually stated a lot of facts, but we all know that the truth hurts! Obama is his own man with his own opinions!I have been watching fixed news almost the whole time Pres. Bush has been in office! One sided in Repulicans favor on Fox and many other stations! Look at the tape..facts dont lie! If Pres. Bush were a democrat, he would’ve been impeached and assasinated many times by now!! Republicans stick together, even the ones that have children who have been killed in Iraq hate Democrats so much, they stick behind this fake christian President. They need to cut out the Dem/Rep. thing and just vote for the best person. Its like a gang war! Obama is the opposite of a racist and I have met the man personally and he loves whites as well as us, (Blacks) and thats what we need in the White House..Someone with a heart for a change and not political influenced about everything! Rep. canidate John McCain seems like a nice person but what turns me off with him is the fact that he hasn’t ever stated the fact that the war started in Iraq on false info. He is plugged with Bush!I honestly understand that they (Iraq) need our presence now because its so much separation in there and militants trying to take over. We need to stick together as a people, ALL RACES! If anybody is paying attention, then they would know that the end of days are near because of all the events that are happening and the hatred in the world! I have friends of all nationalities and they love me and I love them. We need to preach that in the world. If we don’t, then its just a matter of time before all of us are put out of our misery, except for the righteous people! We have a higher calling! Watch and see!!Its about right and wrong always! Fox isn’t stupid-they know EXACTLY what they’re doing. They pander to the lowest sensibilities of our society. Hannity and O’Reilly are dreadful. Just re-read O’Reilly’s opinion piece on how “shocked” he was to realize black people have table manners after visiting Sylvia’s in New York. It’s all the same stuff-Obama is Muslim which he isn’t and never has been, Obama hates white people, though he’s half-white himself and was raised in large part by his white grandparents, yada, yada. Fox is playing folks because they want Hilliary to win the nomination. If that happens, you can kiss this country goodbye because it will be 4 more years of Bush going by another name. Why anyone would want the Clinton melodrama back in the WH is beyond me. She has a tenuous relationship with the truth dating back to her days as a Republican. And yes, folks are bitter thanks to NAFTA, the Iraq War,an unfair tax system, corrupt corporations–all the things Clinton has supported. If blue collar workers think Clinton is in their corner, then they might as well start drinking the kool-aid now. As for elitism-give me a break. Both Hill and Bill went to Yale. Hillary grew up in a rich burb of Chicago. She has never had to pay her own way. She lives high on the hog in a million dollar plus house and the tax returns-don’t get me started. At least Obama has made it on his own, with everything against him. He didn’t have a powerful spouse to help get him into office. Come November, if Hillary’s the candidate, I will still vote for her because as bad as she is, 4 more years of a Republican warmonger would be worse. But I believe we could and should do better.

Aston – sure of what – that he had the right to say what he wanted to when giving the eulogy and the family had control? When my husband died, and later my son, I had control over what was said and done at the funerals. I am sure this family also had that right. I was asked for input on both of the eulogies for my family and gave final approval.

Rev. Wright; Jesse Jackson; Maxine Waters; These are just a few reasons why white people have preconceived notions about the messages that black people deliver. When your messengers are out of the mainstream and you associate with them, then you are perceived to be of the same mind thought. If you have a message, send it through a rational person and not through a screaming idiot.

To the Obama followers who pose the question “how can he be racist against whites if he’s half white?” Once again, I suggest that you all ask the man himself that question. He was half-white when he joined a church with a pastor who reviles whites to a congregation that cheers his vile rantings. He sat for twenty years soaking up this poison, with his family present, and said nothing when Wright disrespected half of who he is, and one fourth of who his children are. He was half-white when he wrote those anti-white statements in his books. He was half-white when he made that ridiculous speech in which he attacked his poor little white grandmother, who raised him, and in which he basically blamed whites today for black hatred. He is half-white and who ever sees or hears anything of his white family? The only praise he has is for his black family. The only reason he has white people in his campaign is because he needs the votes of white Americans to win. Now, tell me this, if he’s not a racist, and didn’t agree with Wright’s spewings, why didn’t he say so, many years ago, right there in the church? What a chance to do some of his much-vaunted “uniting” and “changing.” And if Wright didn’t stop, he should have gone out the door to a real church. It comes down to this: either he has always agreed with Wright, and is a vile racist against most of the country, or he’s a coward and a hypocrite. Either makes him unfit to be president. As for Wright being correct, that’s a load of self-pitying, self-indulgent bullshit. No black American alive today has even the remotest idea of what it is to be a slave. If they want to claim that, then they must have recently immigrated from the loving bosom of their mother Africa, which many claim to have their true loyalty. Guess what, slaves in African countries are enslaved by other blacks. Furthermore, blacks who were sold into slavery in the past were sold by other blacks in Africa to the slave traders. And finally, no white Americans alive today have anything to do with slavery. I can’t help what my ancestors did. It was wrong, but I didn’t do it, and I have nothing to apologize for. I grew up poor and worked hard for everything I have, which isn’t much. No one in America needs to apologize for slavery, not in government, nor private individuals. It’s over. It’s been over for nearly two hundred years. Now, I know that Obama supporters who read this will not believe that I’m not a racist. I don’t care, because if you’re going to hate me simply because I’m white, whether I’ve actually ever done anything to you, then the hell with you. And the hell with the Obamas. I don’t want a president or a first lady who hate me because I’m white. I don’t want a president who’s a coward and a hypocrite. I’m not a Republican, either. I’m an independent who’s always voted Democratic until now. I intend to vote for either Clinton or McCain. Not because I’m a racist, but because I’m not, and I won’t tolerate those who are racist against me.

Wright is a man of God who practices love for all – regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual practice or political leaning.
Using some intemperate words this man spoke in anger to bash his entire congregation and all black americans betrays racist behavior.
god forbid black people have the same rights as whites to criticize institutionalized mistreatment of the poor and minorities in this country.
it seems to me the people that are so bothered by this must have guilty consciences.

It’s interesting to see all the racist white people come out of the shadows over Rev. Wright and Sen. Obama. The chickens have come home to roost.
Oh by the way, for all those Muslim haters, how many of you continue to support the Afghanistan and Iraqi wars? If you do, then you’re supporting Muslims and their governments in the so-called “war on terrorism.” I don’t hear you Muslim haters critising Karzi or al-Maliki. Instead, with you it’s “stay the course” and sacrifice more American soldiers’ lives for the benefit of the Muslims you hate so much.

Hello AK,
I have a feeling that my Father kept some very ugly memories bottled-up inside of his heart for the better part of his life. He shared very little about his experiences growing up in rural GA and almost nothing about his experience in the U.S. Navy WWII.
I knew him for 55 years before he passed away in 2005 at 84 years of age. My Mother, 7 brothers and myself knew not to press him too much about certain subjects. We sure did stir up a hornets nest when we started working on our family tree!!! :~( My wish is that my Father found it in his heart to forgive whatever happened in his past before he passed on.
The Lord says to forgive one another 70X70. That’s all we wanted for him.
I can’t think of a better way to be free than to forgive and let go. Now because my family loved him so much, we couldn’t dream of being away from him, so we just continued to pray for him. By the way, my uncle (Mom’s brother) was similar to my Father if not worst. We felt like something really terrible must have happened in the early 1940s.
Somehow and someway, I believe they were at peace when they passed on!! :)

Aston – Senator Obama has no ties with terroists. His only association with anyboby of that nature was Ayers – and that association was based in the fact they served on the same board and Ayers gave the senator $200.00 when he was running for the state legislature – no story
His ‘corruption’ in Chicago is on related to Rezko by association – a real estate deal. If there was any garbage there – the Clinton campaign would have found it out by now – no story.
What Senator Obama did do in Chicago was that he was a community organizer for three years – earning lower then minimum-wage while helping people who were in the throes of poverty. Now THAT’S a story!

I listened to the eulogy from your link. Besides the Fox News shtick, Wright also says:
“White supremacy is the law of the land, from pre-school through law school.”
He also slams the founding fathers “who planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic.” And he caps it by calling Thomas Jefferson “a pedophile.”
And this is how Wright honors a friend at a funeral? By condemning America, its founders, and its white supremacist orientation? Obama didn’t know Wright spoke this way consistently, even though he sat in the pews for more than 20 years and calls Wright “his spiritual mentor”??

you really think Obama doenst love this country? being tough on extermists will be the policy of any US president, but why does stupidity have to come with being tough?
i know im wasting my breath, i thouht I was on the Fix News site for a minute after reading these comments… ugh…

Rev Wright is a extremist,I believe he should relax a bit but some of his core thoughts are correct. I don’t believe he is racist he just speaks for a ethnic group that hasent had a fair shake from the beginning of their era here in the united states. Look at Katrina.

Everyone dislike FOXNEWS. If many people dislike America it’s because of Foxnews.
Posted by: leche | April 13, 2008, 8:13 pm 8:13 pm
Again, the Fox News line is a small part of his first public appearance since the firestorm. Listen to it. Wright starts his eulogy paying homage to Rev. Farrakhan and other dignitaries and then says:
“White supremacy is the law of the land, from pre-school through law school.”
He also slams the founding fathers “who planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic.” And he caps it by calling Thomas Jefferson “a pedophile.”
And this is how Wright honors a friend at a funeral? By condemning America, its founders, and its white supremacist orientation? Obama didn’t know Wright spoke this way consistently, even though he sat in the pews for more than 20 years and calls Wright “his spiritual mentor”?? This is the kind of hate Wright preaches even when he knows America is watching him closely and it’s affecting Obama’s candidacy.

Tim – pretty sad, isn’t it! ABC news is the only blog I find that spewes such hate and racism – did you catch the post that said “bring back slavery!” sick!
I float between blogs a great deal and find other sites where people pretty well carry on discussions and do not engage in spiteful comments. Other times I will just park here and wait at this blog until the hatemongers leave and the rational bloggers show up.

“The Jewish Americans have been great supporters and advocates for Black Americans. Why are the Rev. Wright, and apparantly Obama, racist to the Jews?”
Because Jews are being judged not by “the content of their character” but the color of their skin.

How many of you idiots know that the whole ‘Chickens coming home to roost” speech was Wright QUOTING one of Reagan’s Ambassadors? And he attributed the quotes in the sermon? It was Edward Peck, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and deputy director of President Reagan’s terrorism task force, who was speaking on FOX News. That’s what he told the congregation. Don;t beleive me CNN reported it, but not prominently.
http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/21/the-full-story-behind-rev-jeremiah-wrights-911-sermon/
How many of you people trying to mess with Obama’s name to win points know that the Isreali Defense secretary is Ehud BARACK (muslim????)
Get some knowledge. And I have lived in small town America for many years. People are bitter, jobs are gone and not being replaced. Want a job? Kangaroo Stores, Wal-Marts, and other cheap paying jobs. It is not going to change with a Republican president. And any of you who won’t acknowledge this because it means admitting the Obama is right and you can’t do that, you will have to live with this lack of importance to the people who get elected from the big metropolitan areas who don’t care about you except to scare you into voting for them. Remember when Clinton was Pres and the Dems controlled the House and Senate? How many guns did they come and take from you? How about from your neighbor? It’s a hoax perpetrated on you by the Republicans and NRA. And yes I own several guns – hand guns, rifles and shotguns. All have a purpose in the types of hunting or shooting I do. Haven’t lost a single one to the government yet. They don’t CARE cause I don’t break the laws with them.

I bet the majority if not all of these posters would vote for Bush again, because he ‘loves America’ and Obama doesnt, regardless of the fact W has clearly lied to start a war, Okd torture, politicized the Justice Department, bungled Katrina and oh, a couple dozen other baffling screw ups in the last 8 years…
how much worse does he have to be?
oh right, he wont raise taxes for millionaires and lets poor people go without health care…. in the end, people who dont want to see, wont see, and the rest of us are stuck with the disastrous fallout … and its never gonna change, from what ive read today…

Thanks, Marcus 2:59:47. I’ve been wanting to see and hear Rev. Wright’s slur on Hillary and it was at the end of your video. Carpenter.nyc-The “slavery” quote was in the same fundraising speech as “bitter” and I haven’t seen or heard one thing about it. DinaLee-TheCityEdition.com. Lengthy article under Headline Stories. Tim – do not be discouraged – there are many rational people among the voter base who support their candidate and defend him or her with pride.
I am a supporter of Senator Obama. Several PA newspapers endorsed him today including the Scranton newspaper that is the home of Hillary. The Morning Call article was excellent but these particular lines hit me the most -”Sen. Clinton has made much of her ”ability to lead” on day one in the Oval Office. Past experience like hers is one thing, but leadership also depends on having a vision, plans to pursue that vision, and an ability to inspire others to follow. On those grounds, Sen. Barack Obama is well-suited to lead, and The Morning Call recommends his nomination in the Democratic primary.”
I am sure similar articles can be found about Senator Clinton.

Ive read that too, is that newsworthy or even true? … the 24 hour news cycle is to blame, they will report on anything now, and will boost up a non story to compete with the blogs, websites and cable news… Britney bumps a car in front of her on the freeway and its a lead story on CNN…enough said…

Tim – AMEN! I have family and friends that I love dearly but we certainly do not always agree – there have been fights among us as there will be between family and friends. But, I do not desert them becasue of something they have said or done. People who do not understand the relationship between Senator Obama and Rev. Wright are people who simply do not want to understand. The cannot so much as equate it to the relationships they have with loved ones.

Sandy, lets just hope enough people have the common sense to know we all don’t have to be the same, act the same, look the same, or even believe exactly the same to be Americans and love our country …
of course, its so so easy to shout out hate and labels and vote with fear, not intelligence…

“”Fox News can’t understand that. O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe.” Wright also referred to Fox News as “Fix News.”"…..well, the Reverend Wright sure has Fox and it’s spewers of hate correct!
It would sure be news if either that Wright refers to ever said anything honest on Fox!….but then it is Fox.
What can one expect from a alleged “News” network who was taken to court by an anchor fired because she refused to read a lie. Fox was sued and the judge, from Florida of all places, agreed that Fox could lie and threw out the suit!
Right on Reverend!!!!

Tim – fear is such a destructive force as evident by the post on this blog. Fear does nothing to bring people together – it only separates them. Some people have no tolerance for others who are different from themselves. I was raised by parents who taught my siblings and me to judge people by the size of their heart – that was all that matered. As a result, I have had many life experiences that others will never enjoy!

On Obama’s Official Web Site (recently removed):
“Jews must support Obama or face grave consequences. Obamanism is the cure for Clintonitis that has devastated America and I hope Jews all over US rally around Obama and support him to win both the nomination and the Presidency because after he wins, he would help the Jews and Israel as well as settle the Middle East problems.
However, if Jews betray Obama and he loses, Africans worldwide would consider it a betrayal to the whole African people and will never forgive world Jewry.
In retaliation, (eye for eye, remember!) Africa would consider expelling all Jews from Africa who have been mining African Gold and Diamond and enriching themselves for many centuries.
It was African gold and diamond that built international finance, trade and banking that the Jews (Rothschild, Warbug, Rockefeller and others) dominate.
It was African gold and diamond that built Jewish banks and wealth worldwide.
It goes on in this vein for a long time, concluding with:
Americans seem to be in slumber and in complete denial of the present dangerous and volatile world situation.
This is where Jews can help.
By supporting Obama to win, they would cure America of Clintonitis and thereby be able to find a permanent solution to the Arab-Jewish problem in the Middle East.
Jews must support Obama or face grave consequences. You cannot afford not to.”

I do know that Senator Obama has strong support among the Jewish community as has been reported in the media, most recently I believe, last week. It is not in Senator Obama’s make-up to ‘threaten’ any group of people. Tha is one of the attributes that makes him an effective leader.

Takeofftheblinders – love your sig – I wish more people would do the same. When it comes to many problems we face in this country, ignoring what is happening, not addressing it by challenging the staus quo, being more comfortable just sitting back and letting the world by, is part of the problem we face – homegrown apathy. Now that the economy is becomng more dire, the war rages in, and our national debt is putting future generations into deeper and deeper debt, people are finally beginning to wake up. Unfortunately some of those people still wear blinders – race, religion, creeds, color – are neverending problems for thse people. They cannot hurdle fear and entrenched beliefs and cannot walk into the light.
BTW I also like Senator Obama’s purple lips and cute ears!

Quotes from James Cone the architect of black liberation theology which Obama’s Trinity church adheres to: “If I had one hour left to live-I would want to spend it with my hands aroung the throat of a white man-choking him to death” “what we need to do is get rid of all this whitness-white people are the misery of the world “Obama has been a member of the Trinity Church for twenty years. In Obama’s so called greater than MLK “I have a dream” speech Obama clearly stated he would not sever his membership to his church. Given this you would think that someone in the media would have asked Obama whether he believes in the black liberation theology beliefs of his church. No No No, the media continues to drool over Obama and ignore the obvious issues with Obama’s association with not only his black liberation theology based church but his association with anti-semitic groups such as the Nation of Islam and pro Palestinian activists. Not to mention, the unrepentant domestic terrorist, Ayers . For example, Jenifer Mason is a member of the Nation of Islam and Obama’s Director of Constituent Services in his U.S. Senate office who is also in charge of selecting Obama’s Senate interns. Also Obama’s relationship with Palestinian activist and Islamist Ali Abunimah. Abunimah is a close friend of Obama’s, who attended an Arab fund raiser and prominent PLO/Arafat adviser. The keynote speaker at which the Obamas were notably in attendance. Moreover, there are now serious questions as to whether the source of funding for Obama’s home was from a shady deal Rezco was involved in for a contract to build a power plant in Iraq. See below for more info.
http://rezkowatch.blogspot.com/2008/02/one-degree-of-separation-obama-rezko.html
The simple truth is that if Obama was anyone else and he belonged to a church that promoted white liberation and supremists beliefs and had strong associations and friendships withe anti semitic associated groups, the media would be all over the story. Fact is, Obama would be history by now as no one with an ounce of good will for human kind or common sense would vote for him

larratta: I did not vote for Obama in the primary in GA so it will not be right for me to place my name and comment on this page. Can you create a page on http://www.ITakeBackMyVote.com for Hillary’s supporters that are planning to cross party line in the general election? We need a page to list our names and comments. This will allow us a place to protest against the DNC if they continued to push Obama down our mouth. Hillary’s supporters want to let the DNC know that we will take action and vote for McCain or write-in Hillary name if Hillary does not win. For some reason, the DNC believes that all Hillary’s support will vote for Obama at the end.

Slavery was abolished, it is over and done. A great civil war was waged and the union won. Many lives lost. No need to worry about that any longer. 150 years has past. Civil rights won, laws enacted and all are equal in 2008. So the subject is closed.
Any Slaves in the united States in 2008, please call 911 the authorities will handle it.
Other wise put a sock in.
This is now and this is the day to live in. if you choose to live in the past, that is a personal problem and your loss.
Everyone needs to Take responsibility for themselves in 2008. Everyone has the same opportunities as the next guy. All can go after the American dream, if they want to. Nothing holding you back but yourself.

I think its sad that white Americans refuse to come to grips with their disconnection with Black Americans. Most of you have never cared or was ever concerned what went or still goes on in our communities and churches. Most of you are looking for any reason not vote for Barack due to his ethnicity. Rev. Wright is a minister and for those who haven’t been to Black church, friends and any connection with the Black family wouldn’t know what we do in our churches, schools, family or communities. Rev. Wright was preachering at a funeral for one of Chicago former judges who was a member of Trinity. He a great activist, encourager and mentor for alot of our Black lawyers today.
The truth is being revealed and what Black Americans have always seen and heard from white Americans are being brought to the light. Truth,Forgiveness, Honesty and Healing is needed in the USA.
Listen be for you react, it goes a long way.

The Rev. Wright story will continue to haunt Obama, and, I feel, will ultimately cost him the Democratic nomination. Added to this, as I was watching the Compassion Forum tonight, it was clear that Hillary did a much better job than Obama. I was amazed at the fact that he calls himself a Christian, but yet, believes in evolution. Hillary’s responses were direct and answered each question completely. Obama, still did not give a good reason for putting down the people of Pennsylvania for turning to God. He knows he has lost this campaign for President. All he could do, was try and copy Hillary’s answers to the questions.

Hate mongers Obama has chosen as his Pastor, mentor and friends:
Rev. Wright: “God D### America” “The US Government created HIV/Aids” etc. etc.
Rev. Meeks: “We don’t have slave masters. We got mayors. But they still the same white people who are presiding over systems where black people are not able, or to be educated.”

I am Africa American and I do want an Africa American for President. But, I do not want Obama. I strongly feel that Obama has been planted in our political system for a reason. A reason that we do not know and I feel is not good for African American and America. All of my family and friends have never heard of this BLACK VALUE SYSTEM or talked so negative about White people. Now, some of my friends are thinking that Obama and his pastor are telling them some new and they should include it into their thinking. We must remember that Obama can not win in the gerneral election withour the support of Hillary’s supports. It is great that Obama has 90% of the black votes but no win with Hillary’s people. Obama and his supporters are making it very hard for us (Hillary’s supporters) accept him as our leader. And the DNC needs to understand that this primary was not handle correctly by the DNC and it is not about the DNC. Hillary’s supporters will walk.

I am a disabled Veteran who has served this country proudly defending our constitution and what I thought were the free and fair people of this world.
But reading what most of your are writing, I am sorry to say I am almost finding myself embarassed and regretting what I gave to defend this country…
The fact we have a woman, a black man and a disabled vet vying for the Presidency is something we should be proud of, not fighting over. Instead you (and imho, Fox News Commentators as listed above) are showing this country really has not changed at all. You are showing that we are still not worthy of any thing more than what we get.
To read what many of you have written is so against what this country and our constitution stands for.. I cannot believe how bigoted, prejudice and mis-informed many of you are.
Most of you do not have a clue how harsh the real world outside our borders is. To read what some of you have written, makes me wonder if there is even a difference now between ‘out there’ and ‘in here’.
A for you idiots standing on the ‘Islam’ bandwagon bull, you are the problem. Not anyone else. I am a Christian. However I also recognize and realize that other religions and peoples such as Islam, Jews, Buddhist and so forth all have their beliefs just as I have mine. In my eyes, that has NOTHING to do with who the best candidate is. Islam has NOTHING to do with terrorism or bad people. And if you think it does, then you have no clue what you are talking about. It is people like you who make those statements that make me feel embarassed to have served to defend people like you. Last I checked, FREEDOM meant freedom of religion along with all the other things.

With so much negativity flowing throughout these comments alone, it is obvious Americans have the right to free speech. But, is it only when you don’t like what you hear, that you lash out? Or do you prove Jeremiah Wright, Right? That’s what he did.
Seems, you are all hypocrites. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether it is what is seen as patriotic, divisive, right, or wrong.
America is the greatest country on earth. Don’t make it the ugliest. The country does have an ugly past, but I would guess, that would only depend on your perspective.

Obama is dividing this country into parts. The democratic party is more divided now than it has been in some time. There is a reason why Pelosi and Dean are wanting Clinton to drop out. Yet if she does it will only cause more of a rift.

I think many would be pretty pissed off – the fact is that hardly any blacks were subjected to Jim Crow laws – we have almost rid ourselves of that part of our history. The ironic thing is Clarence Thomas was subjected over and over to it – yet the black community completely rejects him and offers little to no praise for his accomplishments.

I can always respect a man whose response to any criticism as his critic being stupid. That highlights the level of his intelligence. What do you expect from a racist? There can be no other response. Of course, he conveniently ignores the fact that others in the media have also called Wright a racist… but they’re liberal.

Danny,
Obama’s new campaign slogan: “bitter” and
“frustrated” as opposed to “hope” and “change”
The mask is coming off and Obama is starting to sound a little more like his bitter and frustrated Pastor, Rev. Wright

It’s amazing to me how vile and mean-spirited the anti-Obama rhetoric is — here in this forum and in just about every other media as well (especially Fox News). To attack Obama, his wife, and Reverend Wright in such a hateful manner only demonstrates how racist this country is. Neither McCain nor Clinton get attacked so maliciously. And the irony is that Obama is the only candidate that is trying to bring this racist country together. The other candidates (Hillary included) seem to do all that they can to appeal to the prejudices of whites. And there are those who say that Obama and Reverend Wright are the racists. For those of you who honestly think that a black person who speaks out against white racism and oppression in this country is a racist, you really need a wake-up call. Try to walk in the shoes of a black man who endured Jim Crow and who fought for his country in the military during a time of war — a man who loved his country and was willing to die for his country when his country didn’t love him back. To endure that kind of inhumanity — he has every right to be angry. That doesn’t make him a racist. The racist is the person who chooses to marginalize and distort those who speak out against racism and oppression — ie, Sean Hannity, O’Reilly and the rest of that band of fools on FoxNews.

People in America are bitter and cynical. Obama is right: all except the rich and powerful feel forsaken by our government. Why are some people so upset about his speaking the truth? None of the other politicians have the sense or the guts to. Obama’s wording could have been better, but I’ll tell you one thing for sure: if any of the rest of us had to have every word we speak hashed, rehashed, and attacked – none of us would fare so well.

Tavis Smiley, one of black leaders, was forced leave the talk radio show because he does not support Obama. He has been receiving hate mails and a strong backlash from the black communities and may consider protection for his family. Hillary’s supporters must READ the backlash that are being placed on any black leaders that do not support Obama. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tavis-smiley/regarding-the-tom-joyner_b_96325.html

@Bobby-I am also black and a Hillary supporter. In a sense, Obama has also divided blacks. Those of us who support Hillary are just about in the closet. Our voices, amongst our other Blacks have been suppressed. It’s either the Obama train or you are a sellout or worse. How ironic we are experiencing this from the Unity Party. I agree with everything you have written and you are right – Hillary’s supporters will walk.

As a war veteran, who fought for a country that has truly treated myself, and those of my heritage as less than a man, I would like to think that there is SOME common ground amongst us beside the label -American. Well, I’m an Independent-Voting-American!
This mud-slinging is disgusting. As an African-American, intelligent, wise, loving, and patriotic, I find it best to be truthful, fair, honest, and walk with integrity. People are People.
What is the issue with this hate? Look in the mirror and tell yourself, truthfully, you’ve been fair and honest in your appraisal of all these candidates.
Senator Clinton is married to former President Bill Clinton. He campaigns for her. His money is their money. He went through impeachment proceedings. She has been proven a liar, as well as he. They will not get my vote. Fair and Honest.
Senator McCain is a stand-up American. He is respected as a hero, a Real Patriot; a Maverick. He will get my vote if Obama does not win the nomination.
Senator Obama is a patch from the American quilt. He is a uniter, and what is proven by the posts on this blog, he forces the people of America to bring out their true colors. That is refreshing. And, I must note, he is married to Michelle, not Jeremiah.
All negative posters, what would your preacher say, if he read the anger you so eloquently stated? Would he say you were fair, or just honest about your Belief? You can believe anything and still be 100% WRONG.

Obama appears to be “bitter” because what he describe as small time American has not sign on to this straddle the fence rhetoric. Isn”t he the candidate that said something to the effect that the only reason people didn’t like him and once they met him they could not resist him. Such arrogance. That just like the elitist attitude that says that all AF-AM must support him because he’s “translucent”. Obama’s problem is playing both sides against the middle. He needs the votes of the majority and the money of the rich; therefore he is willing to say precise what he know the target audience wants to here. Certainly its demonstrated in the fact that it is OK for all black people to vote as long as all us black people don’t crowd to close. I am bitter yes, but about the fact that Obama interjection in this campaign is ultimately going to end with McCain back in the WH. Hiliary is the only chance we have in November. Never underestimate the “imponderables of the people conscience”.

I was an Obama supporter until recently. I have kept looking for something more than Rhetoric. He is a gifted speaker but after a while you start to realize he is nothing more than words. You can start by looking at his record – pretty empty and he couldn’t even schedule one meeting with the Afghanistan oversight committee. Is that the leader you want?
Obama has split this country severely and the democrats will feel it come November.

I think it’s sad that Rev. Wright would use someones funeral as his personal forum to spew more negativity. Why would the family even allow that. It is suppose to be about the deceased. I’m sure he is mad at Fox. Fox is the only one who gives the facts about the democrats.(Hillary and Barrak) They are a Republican station, which you have to keep in mind because they are pro McCain. But CNN and MSNBC are so one sided (pro Obama) you can’t believe anything they tell you. So if you want the truth about the dems, you have to watch Fox.

LeeLee07: I no longer talk with my friends about the Hillary. I work from home so I am able to listen to all the black talk radio shows; but, now I refuse to listen any more. Most of the black talk radio shows sound like the black KKK. All this talk about riots, burn things, and no respect for the Clintons. What have changed, Obama and his pastor were added to the black’s factor. I do not fully understand what is doing on; but, there is a price black people will pay for our poor judgment. Obama can not win and will not win without the support of Hillary’s supporters.

Man, the people who see Obama as a hater, yet who see a propogandist like Hannity as a patriot — the founding fathers would roll in their graves. Why do
so many white people, of which I am one, expect blacks who suffered through the pre-civil rights era to have come out of that unscathed and without residule anger? Because they’re racists, plain and simple, and they want black people to shut up and behave, and if they don’t then, well… they’re the racists. Such are the actions of the stupid. The actions of those who were fine with being hoodwinked into a war we can now remove ourselves from. The morons, yes, morons and weak
spirited people who call themselves patriots for wearing a pin — probably made in China – but
allow a silver spoon in mouth failure like GW to rip the constitution — the document that IS our country — to shreds while business cronies profit off of the disaster the HANNITY’S, the true traitors here, enabled through their unintellectual, incurious, discourse. You people are the downfall of what should be a great nation. But, I believe this, stick a fork in yourselves — you supposed patriots, liars, fools, and shallow minded trogs, you’re done.
God bless and sleep well.

Well put. Our people fall into the traps laid before them like Lemmings. Strike an emotional chord, and lead them this way or that. I see the destruction of this nation coming from within. Hillary/McCain/Anyone else: No I looked at the issues and substance of what he has been saying and I don’t think it lines up with what I believe.
Obama Supporter: What? Man you are a racist SOB. Its people like you who don’t think logically that have ruined this country.
H/M/AE: I’ve never done anything even remotely racist or discriminatory in my life. How can you say I am? Isn’t a little racist that blacks are voting for Obama 6-1 and whites are voting for hillary at a lower percentage?

Rev. Wright critizes the founding fathers of the U.S. for their support of slavery, and rightly so. However, he also fails to recognize that it was their own writings that inspired many African Americans to work for their freedom.
Hindsight is 20/20 Rev. Wright. A true prophet is able to not only look backward, but to the present and the future. Rev. Wright is stuck in the past.

I think it’s true what many other posters are saying. As a Democrat I have felt much peer pressure from my friends about why I was choosing Hillary over Obama. I get the feeling from several of my black friends and those who are left leaning that when Obama is challenged on issues and rhetoric as any candidate would be that they think it unfair. If Hillary should win the nomination, I fear that they will be so upset they will hold it against me personally and anyone else they think may have supported Hillary. With the venom that Wright is putting out, the over-the-top rhetoric of Obama surrogates, and the general attitude of pitting one group of Dems aqainst another (which Obama is fostering by his generalizations) I think there may be real upheaval should Obama not get the presidency. But I will not be stampeded or vote out of fear. I will still vote for the person that I think can best do the job for all Americans.

No, I’m Not Bitter… I love what you said. I’m white and have attended many churches. When I saw the Rev. Wright video, I was shocked, as I think most whites were. I’ve never been to a church and heard a minister say things like that. Then to see the black congregation jumping up, patting him on the back, clapping. I was shocked, angry, mad and hurt. I would immediately leave if I heard that coming out of my Rev. mouth and I hope everyone else would too.

I think the media needs to investigate the correlation between Obama’s views on religion (expressed at this fundraiser) and his long-time pastor Rev. Wright.
It is obvious Rev. Wright is an extreme radical. Obama views religion very poorly. I think there is a strong correlation.

First: Rev Wright? Have any of you listened to the entire sermons (which by the way are from the years 2001 and 2003), if you would take time to make an honest interpretation for yourselves, you would listen to the sermons in its entirety. It is a known fact if you only hear 2 – 3 seconds of any conversation, you have missed the core of the message or the point. You have missed the beginning and the end with everything in between. All of you have taken the word of someone else and have not taken the responsibility to make your own thorough and concise determination. It appears that you are easily led like puppets on strings. You beleive because someone else said so!
Secondly, where is everyone? Are you not hearing from the very mouths of some of the voters that live in PA.? Yes, there are some voters who told Obama they were angry and yes they have said they are even bitter???? Obama is stating what he has been told by some of the voters that lives in Pa….. But for those of you who want to play dirty, and attempt to demean Obama, be true to yourself. Until you can make decisions for yourself based on “all” the facts you are only fooling you. Can you honestly say you do not know one person that has not been angry and yes even bitter at the current status of our country? Have you lost a job or a home and have not been able to replenish your losses? The current state of America? But you say you Love America? Why would you not be angry that America’s Economy, Finances, and Citizen’s have been misused? But you Love America? If you would be as supportive of america as you are the Clinton’s? You stand more for Clinton’s or Mc Cain than you do America… Because they say it’s a shame and demeaning to be angry or bitter. It’s demeaning to have emotional feelings when America has been let down by those in charge? Is it guilt because of your choices you have put in place to run the country previously and they (Bush Admin) have let down not only the citizens but America itself. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm??? We need to stop all the finger pointing and tearing down we need to come together by “ALL” means necessary!!!!!! Do it for the America we all say we Love!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s easier to TEAR DOWN than Build Up even if we lie to ourselves and say its for the Love of our Country…..If you Love your country, you would not turn your back on one single American, you would be there for them, thats what America is about!!!! The America I Love, is a gracious America.
Self serving and self righteousness will turn thier back on people. That is not reflective of God or America, compassion or love? It’s perfectly normal to have your choice for the Presidential Candidate, that’s why every person is granted the right to vote. To tear down a person the way it has gone on in this campaign is the very reason why the kids are tearing down schools and lives. Look at the example that is being set before the children of the world. If this is what we feel comfortable presenting to the country, imagine what the children are learning at home as early as high chair ages at the dinner tables, in tier own loving, protected , and nurturing homes? America is for the people! Attacking, tearing down and turning your back on people is NOT PATRIOTIC!!!!! To turn our backs on an American because they are bitter, angry, frustrated, say things differently than we beleive is NOT PATRIOTIC or an American action! If any or all of you are perfect and have never made mistakes in life, then I applaude you; again, stop lying to yourselves! If you truly Love america, show it stand up, be an American in action, in your heart and life, at all times….. Americans vote for the candidate of your choice, stop the madness!!!! Its time to come together for the sake of AMERICA the BEAUTIFUL LAND of the FREE and HOME of the BRAVE!

I agree with all the people who state that Rev. Wright’s talk negative remarks about Fox News and the Founding Fathers at a eulogy is of poor taste. This man is a very sad man. It speaks loudly that he was Obama’s Pastor for 20-years and Mrs. Obama has such negative views of America.

Please what economic odds has Obama had to overcome? Certainly not the same odds every other black person has had to overcome. He did not even grow up on the main 48 states which prety much excludedd him from experiencing the same challenges that the most of us AF-Am have faced and continue to face. If Obama is the democratic nominee the Republicans will have won without even having to get to general elections. Precisely their plan. Because of the deplorable economic conditions, constitution erosion, the war,the deficit budget, lack of decent access to health care there is only surefire way to lose this elections and that is an Obama. It’s not too late to save this country. Obama should drop out for the sake not of the Dem Party but for the sake of all America.

@bobby- I no longer talk with my friends about Hillary either. I am disappointed that black talk and music radio show hosts, who have tremendous influence over their listening audiences, continue to push Obama. By now, I am sure they know his background is dirty. What they are doing is the height of irresponsiblity. I also fault the listeners who are blindly following without doing their own background research. Before Obama came on the scene, most Blacks were Clinton supporters and radio hosts talked about Bill as if he was natural family. Unfortunately, Bill and Hill were the first ones thrown under the bus with racist attacks FROM Obama surrogates, never mind their long civil rights records. Tavis Smiley has also bit the bullet for daring to offer mild criticism of Obama. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, whom by the way, we NEVER see with Obama adds to the fray with their “suggestions” there could be protests or riots if Obama doesn’t get delegates or if the nomination is “stolen” from him. There are red flags all around this guy and his supporters and the MSM ignores it. Obama has singlehandedly set race relations back 40 years. So much for the Party of Hope, Unity, and Change. The next black presidential candidate is going to catch h*ll, no matter how legitimate he may be. Yes, we will pay for our poor judgement, just like Obama is going to eventually pay for his. In any case, there will be no President Obama, no matter what his supporters think.

I was also shocked when Obama said that people with problem want to cling to God or their faith.
What is wrong with CLING TO GOD OR YOUR FAITH if you are having problems?

Unfortunately, Fox News is the only place to go anymore to get the truth about Obama, but they’re an equal opportunity employer, they also bash Hillary and sometines Mccain as well. Please remember that without Fox, the Reverend Wright videos might never have seen the light of day. I was watching CNN for a bit the night Fox first aired the videos, and Anderson Cooper APOLOGIZED for having to air them, calling them “not newsworthy”. I don’t want the media determining for me what is or is not newsworthy. Give me the facts, be journalists instead of cheerleaders, and then I’ll make up my own mind.

It’s not surprising Obama hasn’t fessed up to how close he has been with Rev. Wright. Though, after Obama’s “typical white person” and “bitter” comments, it’s all beginning to add up that Obama is just as ignorant.
Posted by: Justin | April 13, 2008, 11:38 pm 11:38 pm
These comments clearly show bitterness. So, admit it, guys. You ARE showing something about character within your own selves. There WAS slavery in America. America didn’t get involved with helping the Jews during the Nazi extermination until they were FORCED into it. South America took most of the ones who were able to evacuate Germany and Poland, etc. My own Grandpa, bless his soul, and my father, were both DISCRIMINATED against in where they can work and where they can live. Lately, I was in a car with Black individuals, and we WERE stopped for no reason by police. They let us go, because they said they only wanted our identification. I think the police were afraid that I was being abducted (otherwise, why would I be the only white person with a whole group of Black people). When I got married back in the early ’70s to a Black ma, it was still ILLEGAL for us to check into a hotel in Florida. All of this is very real, people. As white people, there is LITTLE REASON to discuss those things. Now that Black people are openly discussing it, you seem shocked. Are you really that shocked? So, MANY, MANY Black pastors speak to what is bothering their congregants. So what? I can sit in an all Black church and listen to all sorts of incorrect assumptions about White people and Jewish people, and that doesn’t stop me from loving my brothers and sisters in God unconditionally. When I have a chance, and the opportunity avails itself, I speak out to disagree. So, what if Farakan (sp?) doesn’t like Jews? That’s a far cry fro him to Wright to Obama. That’s three people removed, as in the telephone game. As for the “bitter” comments? If it’s true, swallow it. If not, ignore it. At least Obama speaks his own mind and not that of his speech writers and editors.

Obama says Pennsylvania voters are bitter at his California fund-raiser. To his wealthy California donors he described working-class blue collar Pennsylvanians with a series of what “might be considered pure negatives: guns, clinging to religion, antipathy, xenophobia.”
When the man is running for President you would think he would be more careful with his words. Especially because he says his words are so important. First, why is he so negative about PA when he is in CA? Second, what is he going to do for PA voters and the economy now that he has spread negativism about PA around the world? Film-makers in California – please come to PA and make your movies – you will see we are not negative like Obama thinks.

Many countries look at us as if we are spoiled children and I understand why. The important issues and facts are pushed aside. Over 4000 have died in the war, 83,000 have been maimed and severely injured. On the day that those statistics came out Fox never reported it because they were so busy trying to ruin a Pastor’s life because he is an “uncontrollable” African American man who has “stepped out of place”. The things that we point out so easily in others is a reflection of something hateful in ourselves, hmmm……..

I can’t stand Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly but I abhor the racist idiot Jeremiah Wright. For once I agree with Fox News for exposing this bigot who is supposed to be the mentor of the political ooportunist Barack Obama. Shame on you Jeremiah Wright, shame on you Barack Obama. What a dubious relationship you have. Stop the ghetto attitude!

The fact that Obama does not participate in any agenda associated with AF-AM issues should be a red-flag to other Af-Am. Imagine poor old people freezing in the windy city because he and his associate (Rezko who received all that money from Auchijust in time to help purchase $2M dollars worth of real estate by someone who makes less than 40,000) decided that heat was not really a necessity. Just wait I am sure we will here more about that. Use them and lose them that’s Obama’s motto. And now that he is confident that black people have fallen in behind the “pied piper” he and Michelle want them to got to the back of the bus and let the “white folks” sit on the front row. Yes, it is completely irreponsible for us Ar-AM to follow willy nilly behind a charlatan. The only thing I can say in defense of this lunacy is that perhap there is political inexperience for the most part. Hiliary is our only chance out of this Repubican nightmare. Wake up from the day dreams before it’s to late.

Clinton and McCain know about US public education first-hand because they attended US public schools. Hillary attended her local suburban public school where she was a national honor society member. Obama has never attended a US public school. During high-school, he attended an elite Hawaiian academy where private tuition is now about $15,000 per year.

I would seriously think that Obama meant nothing offensive by his bitter comments.I actually am very excited to see a government official who really even genuinely cares about a small group of americans. My guess is in the long run this will help Obama because he is mainly just trying to get this blue collar vote in which Hillary has a big lead in. I think this issue may start getting some blood pumping in this group of individuals who in which have lost their jobs 25 years ago. Look Obama haters, forget the race issues for once in your life. Lets all come together and support change, even if you are rich and the recession aint gonna hurt you. Obama08

winning0853, I agree that he has not done much for AF-AM and wonder how much longer can his 90% black vote hold out. When Tavis Smiley held his 2008 annual State of the Black Union event in New Orleans, Hillary was the only presidential candidate to attend this event. Obama declined the invitation. Since the event, Obama’s campaign has inundated Tavis Smiley with nasty e-mails including death threats. …”I have family in Indianapolis. They are harassing my momma, harassing my brother. It’s getting to be crazy,..”

The Rev. Wright showed his pettyness and hate again by talking about a TV station and reporters who were just reporting the news and I for one think that since Rev. Wright was a mentor and spiritial leader of a possible president, it should be in the public realm. Churches and any organization that teaches hate and racism should be abolished. And one can bet there were hundreds of sermons of hate and bigoty preached over the years, not just a few minutes of God Damn America or those rich white people.
Posted by: Mary | April 14, 2008, 12:59 am 12:59 am
Discrimination, prejudice and hate are not the sole province of Blacks. I am a white, female Jew. Here are some of my memories.
I remember as a young married woman going to a bank for a mortgage. We were told don’t bother applying because we do NOT consider a wife’s income. She could become pregnant and stop working.
I have a technical college degree. There were 3 females in my major in my class. The running open “joke” around the department was that they were trying to figure out what they had done wrong that 3 had survived to upper-class.
I remember being offered a job. The job had originally been advertised with one salary, but when they decided to offer it to a female, the job had been “re-evaluated” and the salary lowered by thousands of dollars.
I remember growing up with my friends whose parents had numbers tattooed into their arms from being in concentration camps in the Holocaust. Their older brothers or sisters were not their siblings, but maybe cousins or children of their parents’ friends. My friends’ parents became their parents because no one else had survived and so they took them in.
In Jewish tradition, at certain times of the year, we say prayers honoring and remembering our dead. One of these times is the anniversary of the relatives’ death. I remember seeing my grandfather cry because he could not do this obligation. His relatives had been killed in the Holocaust and no one knew the date of their death.
Will you walk into a Jewish Synagogue and hear the Rabbi d**m the Germans, Poles, Austrians or even the Nazi’s for the Holocaust? Not even on Holocaust Remembrance Day. We remember, we say never again can we let this happen to people, we mourn. We say prayers honoring the memory of the 6 million Jews and the millions of others killed.
Is Anti-Semitism alive and well? Yes, there was a recent report that it is growing. Black’s are not alone in feeling others’ hate, but to have a Church and its Minister teach hate is wrong. This Church even gave a Lifetime Achievement Award to Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam in December 2007. Farrakhan is a bigot, racist and Anti-Semite. This Church in 2007 also published articles in their magazine with Dr. Wright praising Hamas and calling Israel Nazis.
If Obama gets the Democratic nomination, this second generation activist Democrat will not vote for him. I don’t have to like my party’s candidate, but I have to trust him to put the best interests of all Americans’s first. I don’t trust Obama.
Posted by: susan | April 14, 2008, 12:59 am 12:59 am
Yes, that’s Obama speaking out of both side of his mouth and expecting that no one will realize that he really did not provide a definitive answer so that he has an opportunity to revise or update his answer later depending on the target audience of the moment of course. Actually he used key words that he “hopes” will resonate with people and they will focus just on those word like the “hope” and “change”. As a matter of fact, some of the people that I talk to do not know three things about Obama outside of those two words. Some of them remember one of them; some of them remember both, they know that he is yis oung, black and maybe some of them are aware that he is a Sen. from Illinois. Some don’t even know that. They just voting.

You moronic republicans need to understand that having an idiot on camera is not nor has it ever been considered investigative reporting. They say they Report and you decide. It’s kinda difficult to report when you do no investigative reporting. It’s more like… They report bias and opinion and expect you to decide… Don’t be idiots all your lives and understand this basic stuff.

**Education: Hillary is familiar with public eduction and she attended US public schools. Hillary wants to strengthen math and science programs, and provide an opportunity for students to attend college without incurring huge debt.
**Women’s rights: Hillary is a strong supporter of equal women’s rights. As First Lady, she helped found the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, which has helped achieve a one-third reduction in teen pregnancy between 1996 and 2005. Hillary voted to ban partial birth abortion and for mandatory care for infants born alive.
**Gun control: Hillary supports gun ownership and gun control bills. Hillary supports the right to own guns.
**Patriotism: Hillary was born in Chicago,IL, vacationed in Pennsylvania at her grandparents’ PA home, lived in Arkansas, Washington, DC, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. About patriotism, Hillary says, “Wearing a flag pin, flying the flag, pledging allegiance to the flag, talking about the values that are important to America, teaching your children about what a great nation you have, standing up for those values, speaking out … there’s just so many ways that one can demonstrate patriotism.”
**Uniter of the people: When her opponent’s truckers union threatened to disrupt a Hillary event, she invited them to tell their story to the media and those at the event. She listened and understood their concerns. Hillary spoke out against the violence following the election dispute in Kenya and urged peacemaking activities to resolve the issues between the muslim and christian tribes.
**Iraq: Hillary supports withdrawal from Iraq.
**NAFTA. Hillary voted against expanding Nafta to Peru. She supports changes in Nafta to protect American jobs.

kcgentz, what Obama said was demeaning to hard-working people and portrays PA,, the mid-west, and small-town working-class voters with negative stereotypes. And many in Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois voted for him, go figure? Here’s what Obama said to wealthy liberal donors in California during a fundraiser about Pennsylvania working-class voters: “…they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who are not like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment, as a way to explain their frustrations.” He hasn’t walked a mile in anyone’s shoes to jump to the conclusion that due to frustration due to job loss, lack of opportunity, etc. leads to gun-clinging, or religion-clinging, or xenophia? The illegal immigration is an issue in Pennsylvania with approximately 140,000 illegal immigrants in Pennsylvania costing PA taxpayers annually fiscal cost to Pennsylvania taxpayers $285 million for emergency medical care, education and incarceration. The costs for illegal immigration are expected to quadruple over the next 10 years.

Rev. Wright should stay home until after the election. Everywhere he goes he is going to be covered by the media. He caused this mess. If he had called a news conference that would have been one thing but to air his grievances at a funeral was in bad taste.
Posted by: Annie | April 14, 2008, 4:30 am 4:30 am
Besides he can get mad all he wants but the media was just covering a story. If he hadn’t said the things he did, in a church full of people, repeatedly for many years and taped and sold it, there would be no story. If he wants to get mad, he should get mad at himself.

Fox news is the most bias, republican flavored, anti-black reporting station in the world and an abuse of freedom of the press. Legislation needs to set standards for behaviour of the press during elections. Fox news brainwashes and has kept and is determined to keep racism alive during these elections – How they want to lynch Obama if they could physically. They hate the man because he is black and will find anything to sing on each day to brainwash America when we need an America that see beyond the racial divide and that works together for the betterment of the county. USA does not need a station like Fox News. They should be closed down for racism!

Fox News is a Republican station and they admit it openly. They attack Hillary Clinton as well as Barrak Obama. At least they admit they are bias, CNN, MSNBC, etc pretend to be unbias but everyone knows they’re pro Obama. The only one who is fair and unbias is Lou Dobbs on CNN. I watch him all the time.
Posted by: Annie | April 14, 2008, 4:58 am 4:58 am
The second “stupid” thing about Hannity is his agenda is so clear: to get the Republicans back in office. First it was to skin Clinton and then they decided with the way votes were going he needed to skin Obama. These people are maniacs who should not be allowed on the air during elections. Federal Law should set standards for TC and Radio behaviour disallowing news reporters to express personal opinions to show absolute favor of one candidate and brainwash millions on the air with bias reporting. There target, Fox news, the Democrats.

Fox News isn’t the only one who is bias. Most of the media is bias for their candidate. All this time they were saying horrible things about Hillary Clinton. Telling her to get out of the race. Saying people didn’t like her. Chris Mathews saying he got feelings up his leg (what ever that means) when Obama spoke. I saw one guy on Fox call her a bit-h. It wasn’t until SNL and a handful of honest reporters covered how bias they were against Hillary Clinton that things started to change. They are still bias towards her but they aren’t as open about it. But you always see Obama getting way more coverage.

The astronomical Power of the Press during elections should be reveiwed and curbed with standards- What right has any individual to abuse freedom of the express to brain wash billions to vote a certain way based on bias data and preference and their sometimes sick views – this is particular aimed at Hannity who daily for hours abuses freedom of the press on his radio station as if he some God.
Posted by: Stephen | April 14, 2008, 5:14 am 5:14 am
No party should be allowed to have a TV station and Radio Station to promote their cause during elections. Fox News is virtually owned by the Republics and have relaxed to the point to make everyone know they are a Republican tool. This needs to stop as it gives that party an untold advantage for distorting the truth and propaganda which is contrary to the Constitution of the United States regarding freedom of the press. This is plain abuse.

CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC are just as bias as Fox. All the above have pushed for Obama. They haven’t bothered with McCain because they are too busy trying to push Clinton out. If you’re going to fix one station, then you have to fix them all. If you remove Hannity, then you need to remove Chris Mathews, Jack Cafferty, etc. We need news like the old days when Huntley & Brinkley or Walter Cronkite were on. They gave you the facts and let you make up your own mind. I know people who refuse to vote because they feel it’s so rigged and bias. It’s sad!

At least Obama’s mentor will retire in luxury. The church just built his $1.6 million, 10,400 square foot mansion at the upscale Odyssey Country Club. Of course it’s a gated community to protect him and the other 1.2% of blacks living in this rich white community. That wonderful church representing the poor inner city blacks, has also secured a $10 million line of credit for him, just in case he needs a few things. After Wright has spent decades lecturing blacks to remain loyal to the black ghetto and eschew the white suburbs. He says it’s all part of a white conspiracy to get blacks hooked on middle-class materialism and separate them from the inner-city and their African roots. Isn’t it funny how those who demand economic parity always end up taking the biggest share.

Patrick: Every day we get the same people repeating that they were going to vote for Obama, and now for some reason or another they are no longer going to vote for him. Tomorrow they will be saying the same thing again, and if they cannot find a reason they will invent one. This all sounds very juvenile to me. Maybe it is all James Carville writing under different names.

When you read any comments….you can tell who is “White” and who is “Black”. Just the way it is worded. Then there are some who write comments just to get a reaction from others. I can’t believe some of the stupid comments, what are they thinking. We have to put the right person in White or Black [there are no green or purple people]or we will have 4 years with broken promises. Can the American’s afford all these promises..or is this what we want to hear or is this just bull sh** because this person just wants the job and title as President of the U.S. As American’s we have to THINK before we VOTE.

The hate spewing out of the BOB camp is startling. If anyone thinks that BOB is going to disown rev WRONG if elected is also stupid. Rev will prob end up moving into the west wing to be a full time rabbleRant
If the REV has a beef about America he should go to DC and protest. Its the people who VENT who really are fula hot air and hate cuz they aint DOING anything about it. How lame I’d that to vent and rabble rant every week for 20+ years and your congregation is passive and just SITS there listening to this RantFest?
Good grief Charlie Brown?!!! I would not want someone in the white house who supports a church that HATES America PLUS has ZERO experience for the job.
Why do people like BOB in the first place?
I vote Hillary fo shizzle.

Rev Wrong has doomed Obama. He just keeps raising the issue: Lets have a look at SNOBAMA’s
history of Lies and misstatements shall we:
Small Town Americans are bitter and cling to Guns or Religion. They are anti-immigrant, anti-free trade. – given at San Francisco fund raiser
“Typical White People” quote
More Blacks are in Prison today than in college
Abortions are better than being “Punished” with a baby
Went with Farrakhan to the Half-million man march
Mis-statements on the number of casualties in IRAQ
Never attended a White Church (even though he and Michelle preach diversity)
His Wife is finally proud of America (1st statement) then she is really proud (2nd statement)
His flat declaration that lobbyists “won’t work in my White House” changed after it turned out his own written plan says they could, with some restrictions.
His wife wrote an essay on black separatists in Princeton
Told a story of how his Kenyan father and his Kansan mother fell in love because of the tumult of Selma, but he was born in 1961, four years before the confrontation at Selma took place. When asked later, Mr. Obama clarified himself, saying: ‘I meant the whole civil rights movement.’
His Hate pastor gave Farrakahn an award and supports Hamas
Obama exaggerated the death toll of the tornado in Greensburg, Kansas, saying 10,000 people died – he was only off by 9,988. He was trying to tie the deaths to the lack of National Guard heavy equipment because of Iraq – also incorrect.
Obama caught with handwriting on Liberal Survey supporting unfettered Abortion and strict gun control
Obama still hasn’t explained REZCO ties fully – Tribune stories linked Rezko to questionable fundraising for Gov. Rod Blagojevich in 2004 — more than a year before the adjacent home and property purchases by the Obamas and the Rezkos
Several direct-mail pieces issued for Obama’s [Senate] campaign said he was a law professor at the University of Chicago. He was not. He was a senior lecturer at the school.
Obama=Hate=Wright=Farrakhan=Wrong for the USA This is truly a soulless individual. Anyone voting for this guy has to have a mental disorder given his support for that Hater Pastor Wright.

People Forget that Rush, Hannity, and O’Reilly are NOT reporters… they are political commentators and entertainers. They are not reporters. I believe that they have huge audiences because their basic message is that the United States is a great country and her people are generally honest and hard working. There are also radio hosts who have very liberal leanings such as Shultz, Franken and Garofalo. They aren’t nearly as popular, but once again that is because their message doesn’t resonate with as many people.
Anyone who thinks that either group should be shut down is wrong. The First Amendment should be protected for everyone.

I would like to thank GMA for helping me to make up my mind in this presidential election. First of all, the world is acting as if Rev. Wright has just come on the scene. He has been for long time a sounding board for the conscious of Black America. This morning GMA showed Hilary drinking beer and doing shots. I don’t know if Obama drinks, but at least I haven’t seen it.
sorry Hilary.

Hillary said that words don’t matter,I guess they matter when ti benefits her. Fox news is very racist, I stop watching when they bashed Obama for 2 hours. One of the top cimmentators had to tell them enough bashing of Obama. When hate is in your heart you express it in hopes that it will penatrate to others. But you eople seem to want to dismiss this and hang on to what Wright said. Frankly, what Wright said was wrong and all the hatred that fox news sprews in wrong. May God touch all the racist both black and white and pull them together as one for the good of our country!

Patrick and Tamara i really enjoyed your post.So True.I agree with Rev Wright’s comments and I think it’s time for all of you that think Good Ol America is flawless to face reality.I am so sick of hearing racist this ,racist that in reference to Rev.Wright and Obama, you get more racism from this messageboard alone.Steve Stephanopoluos made the statement that Obama brushed off Rev.Wright’s comments,I heard the speech Obama made after Rev.Wright’s comments were blown up and I would like to know how some of you still feel as though Obama brushed this subject off,the media won’t let him brush it off. It’s being thrown in his face almost everyday.I’m glad Rev.Wright made the comment about FOX & Friends,he was on point,THEY WILL NEVER GET IT AND ALOT OF YOU ON THIS MESSAGEBOARD WON”T EVER GET IT BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO LISTEN,YOU DON”T WANT TO GET IT.
Posted by: vanessapenny | April 14, 2008, 9:41 am 9:41 am
You know what…you people inspire me. The more I read the comments from the people who live in a bubble, who have NEVER experienced generations of racism and hatred, whose only experiences with people of color are their few co-workers and/or people in the service industry….
the more I am SO thankful to be Black in America. At least I can truly say I am not disillusioned.
Until you have gone through the things Black America has experienced for YEARS, until most Americans admist racism exists, and until we come to terms with the ugly sides of who we are, the faster we can move past them.
If you don’t like Obama…just don’t vote for him, but you cannot blame Rev. Wright for anything he said (especially if you truly listened to the ENTIRE sermons). I am not pleading for people to vote for Obama but wishing more people would not rely on mainstream media to tell them where to cast their vote.

Uretha: “No party should be allowed to have a TV station and Radio Station to promote their cause during elections. Fox News is virtually owned by the Republics and have relaxed to the point to make everyone know they are a Republican tool. This needs to stop as it gives that party an untold advantage for distorting the truth and propaganda which is contrary to the Constitution of the United States regarding freedom of the press. This is plain abuse.” First off, no party owns any station….certain networks lean certain ways…sad but true. However, if you want FOX off because of their slant you will need to remove CBS, NBC, CBS, CNN,MSNBC and others because of their slant…..pretty unAmerican of you to want to restrict the First Ammendment. Read some freaking history PLEASE…..political speech above all other speech is why we have the First Ammendment.

No Way- Go Hilary. I agree with some others, I hope Rev (used very loosely) Wright keeps on talking. The more he talks the less votes Obama will get.

Tom… you are a moron…. would you like me to tell you the difference between CBS, NBC, CBS, CNN and FOX NEWS? Here…. Let me help you out… They all do investigative reporting… They all act like a watch dog over our government… Except FOX.. the only time they criticize the government is when the Dems control Government. Which has only happened for a couple of years of its existance… Some of you morons have no clue about the history of the media or what they do… Fox News is good at criticizing anyone else who actually does investigative reporting. Easy to do when they don’t invesigate anything themselves.

If it wasn’t for Fox News there would be no unbias news reported. The main stream media is bias for Obama… Pastor Wright is a racist hiding behind God!
The way Mr. Obama talked about the people in the Midwest is very disturbing to me! Obama told the crowd in San Francisco: “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion, or antipathy to people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”… I am very proud to “cling to my religion” and he should be honest enough to tell us the truth about his religion and his church… Obama wants to be president of the USA and the church he regularly attends is (as it says on their website) “A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA” and his pastor blamed 911 on the United States! (Check out the church website… http://www.tucc.org/about .htm) Do we really know Obama?
(Check out http://www.snopes.com ) Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas. Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parent divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. Lolo Soetoro introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world.
Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any reverence for our flag… Obama disrespectfully turns his back to the flag of the United States of America! Obama’s wife said about a month ago… because her husband is ahead in the polls… this is the first time she has been proud of the USA… how telling is that!
Do you really want someone who is not proud to be an American and shows no respect for our flag and has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa to be president of the United States?
For Obama to talk against people who want to secure our country against illegal immigration is very disturbing to me, because securing our borders is not a bad thing!
For Obama to talk against people who have anti-trade sentiment is very telling, because while he was in Ohio he claimed to not want to see more trade deals that would cost more US jobs to go over seas!
His speech clearly shows his racist bias towards Midwesterners and those who are not as ultra-liberal as he is! He was telling an ultra-liberal audience in San Francisco that Midwesterners “cling to guns or religion, or antipathy to people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations”… Wow!
That was not a slip of the tongue… that came from Obama’s heart and showed his total disrespect and distain for Midwesterners and everyone else who doesn’t believe as he does! Obama makes no apologies and still claims to want to bring Americans together… what a hypocrite! If a white man gave that speech they would be called a racist!
Obama clearly looks down on the people in the United States of America that are not like him and he clearly is not being truthful with at least half of his audiences across the United States of America. Everyone needs to look behind Obama’s flowery speeches… his vision of ‘bringing America together’ means… adopting his ultra-liberal agenda and abandoning any conflicting beliefs!
Do you really want someone who shows no respect for our flag or our country and who has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa to be the next president of the United States?

Now that’s change we can believe in…..not!

What a contradiction! If that man is so miserable being an American, And living in America, And being so oppressed as to have flourished off her fruits, Then why in the hades doesnt he move to another Country. And some of you want to call Rev.Wright a racist because he didn’t pretty it up when he spoke about good ol America.I keep reading about this person is not patriotic, that person is not patriotic why because they choose to speak the truth about Good ol America?(911) That doesn’t make a person more or less patriotic,it just shows that they have respect enough to tell the truth. Some of you ragged Michelle Obama about her comments as far as being an American,I mean that was her opinion but that doesn’t make her more or less patriotic than some of you that are bashing her. Some of you talked about Obama wearing a pin,he didn’t put his hand over his chest,he didn’t do this he didn’t do that. Some of you really need to stick to the issues for once. It’s ridiculous.

And Clearly you have never seen FOX. They are the only media outlet that actually has BOTH veiw points in their shows. Hannity (a conservative) has openly and repeatedly jumped on Bush and the Repubs for their postions. Sen. Obama was right. Frustrations HAVE made those of us who were brought up in working class neighborhoods (I am a displaced, born and raised PITTSBURGHER!!!!) bitter. It has made us grasp for something else to bite on, since complaining about the steel industry and other manufacturing jobs sucked out by NAFTA (just like Ross Perot said it would) got us nowhere. Sen. Obama heard Every Word We Said. He was just saying out loud what Ms. Clinton will gloss over to get the nomination, and then it’s right back to “keep the Jones down, and our rich pockets full”. Racism, Prejudice, Bitterness – all are born of frustration. When you work every day, and still cannot pay your bills because the tax breaks are for those who can pay for them; when health care is not for those who work, but those who pay; when justice is only for those who can afford to pay for it; when our National Guard is overseas instead of here at home Guarding Our Nation (remember Katrina?), of COURSE we are bitter, and Senator Obama is not elitist to point it out!!!!! Ms. Clinton just needed something to try to cover the lying she’s doing now in the hopes that she’ll get to do it from a higher vantage point. IF he ‘misspoke’ himself, then at least he is honest enough to say he did and explain himself instead of just trying to sweep it under the ‘she was tired from the campaign trail’ rug. If she’s tired NOW, what’s going to happen at 3AM WHEN THE BIG PHONE RINGS?

I’m “tired of the lack of knowledge of the voters also.” Had everyone done their homework in the beginning and informed themselves on all of the candidates, we would maybe have one that was actually qualified with real experience to put up against McCain. But not us, we have to make a spectacle of ourselves and get it down to the two that were the very most unelectable (with the exception of Kucinich and Gravel). Never fails. Republicans win once again.

‘Fox isn’t stupid-they know EXACTLY what they’re doing. But I believe we could and should do better.’
Amen April, Amen

Reporters weren’t allowed but a reporter got in anyway and recorded it. Sorry, that’s just wrong.
I did not vote for Obama but this whole thing has made me sick, Of course Wright would speak on this even at a funeral, they love him and have seen him horribly attacked.
What I did when the clips came out was what I always do, I looked for context. I listened to the whole sermons-even the ones those clips were from were not hateful or anti-American. Then I listened to many other of his sermons and they are about Jesus, loving one another, compassion, faith that endures when times are hard, faily, responsibility.
I read what other ministers who knew him had to say, people who had gone to his church (black and white) and the great respect they held him in. I read about all the good world the church does. I read about his 6 years as a marine and his 3 presidential commendations
It sickened me. The media deserves to be trashed though a funeral is an odd place in most circumstances. No network tried to show the true picture and Wright and the church get threats and hate mail because of it.

Clinton and McCain are hypocritical
liars who will both keep America
divided or in IRAQ for 100 years.
Meanwhile, they attack Obama and call him an elitist. Look it up people: an Elitist is someone who thinks they are superior or entitled to power and control over other people. Sounds
like Hillary and McCain to me and
not Obama.
When Reverend Wright calls govt on
this in his fiery sermons, the real elitists, like McCain and Hillary get a tad bit angry. How can a negro disrespect their authority?
Hillary can’t believe she’s losing
to a Black man, even as brillant as Barack Obama is. He’s still black,
both oponents want us not to forget.
I can’t wait for November because
this time, the same racist lies and rhetortic that worked for Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2 isn’t going to work on Obama. Say goodbye to the White house
silly season republicans and you dysfunctional Clinton’s.
The same rhetoric that DixieCrats used and clinged to when they split from the Democratic party in 1948 is coming again, but who would have thought it would be coming from both Clinton’s, whom black, brown and poor people have supported for so many years. This is way too ironic for words. Now it’s 1984 or something.
Shame on you Clinton’s and McBush, Shame on you. You are not doing God’s
will and this fact will come to light
in due time.
Pres Clinton, u had your time, but it doesn’t give your wife dibbs on the presidency just because we voted for you. This now turns out to have been a big mistake for millions of people because of NAFTA, no Universal Health Care, and both of your support of this occupation in IRAQ.
Plus you had chance to get Bin Laden, remember him and you did not, Thanks so much for that too. Were you sleep deprived that day too?
Nice work on Bosnia sniper fire and in the SC primary, the turning point for
all of us in this campaign. Job well done, Hill and Bill, way to ensure your presidential legacy will be permanently damaged by your lies. No one even has to mention Monica, she’s the 800 lb elephant wearing the blue dress in your living room.
You should also both be ashamed of the living legacy that you leave to your only daughter.
Bill Clinton is not the man today that we voted for in 1992, or is he?
Change will come, as it must.

We all know that Billo and Hannity are idiots personified who cannot distinguish truth from fiction. The good rev is also over the top. All three personify an unfortunate tendency in faux punditry to blame [insert target] for [insert problem]. They all stereotype, belittle, and exaggerate.

I don’t even consider Fox as media, but a propaganda media outlet. Can you image that
Over 75% of Fox News viewers are STILL THINK that there is WMD in Iraq? To this degree Fox views are out of touch to the fact and that the main reason Fox is Faux and unbalanced!

Obama worked with Farrakhan to help lead the Million Man March. Along with other prominent black leaders such as Al Sharpton and Barack Obama, Farrakhan helped lead the Million Man March on Washington. A second march, called the Millions More Movement, took place in 2005. http://www.biography.com/search/article.do?id=9291850

What the …?
I started to listen to that tape and had to turn it off at the outset, where he is thanking the members of the family. OF the deceased.
For God’s sake, does anyone in the media have ANY JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY LEFT??
It was a FUNERAL, for heaven’s sake. A Sun-Times reporter SNUCK INTO A FUNERAL to TAPE RECORD Obama’s former paster in an attempt to CATCH HIM SAYING SOMETHING INCENDIARY to screw up Obama’s candidacy.
Un. Freaking. Believable.

SHAME ON OBAMA AND HIS ANTI-AMERICAN WIFE, AS WELL AS HIS RADICAL MENTOR JEREMIAH WRIGHT AND ALL HIS SHADY ASSOCIATES.
Obama doesn’t deserve his US Senate seat — let alone the White House.
His whole career is based on divisive lies, and back stabbing people, with an incredible capacity for being absolutely uninspiring.
It took Barack Obama more than a year to repudiate his former pastor’s radical, racially-charged anti-American tirades, but when it came to denouncing Don Imus for his racial slurs against the Rutgers girls basketball team, it took Obama only a day to demand the shock jock be fired.
How about Obama’s relationship with another racist Reverend? This one is Rev. Meeks. Check him out!
If Obama thinks this about “working class people”, then what does he think about a man who was born in a manger, who had no formal education, was basically homeless and wondered around speaking to strangers?
NO OBAMA! We don’t need a president who looks down on us — we need a president who stands up for us.
HILLARY 2008!

At least people at Fox News are proud Americans. They are not those hate Americans mongers, who preaches hatret and comdemn America. Rev. Wright and Obama and the Trinity Church should all be shoveled under the bus. Instead of
Obama’s white Grandmother. What an ungrateful grandson, unfit to be the president of USA. Vote for the PROUD AND TRUE AMERICAN ALL THE TIME – HILLARY OR MCCAIN 08!

I have a qustion for all ofyou…..How many of you who read this blog, and the other Americans who don’t read this blog, can honestly say that he or she is completely, and I mean completely, devoid of ANY black blood in their families? From time immemorial, the whites and blacks have been intermingling on a sexual basis, so all you hate mongers out there, cool it…and check on your REAL ancestry. GO OBAMA 08!!!

Exactly who does this guy think he is, E.F. Hutton? Now Wright is running his yapper every day of the week? Who cares what he has to say, one way or the other? He is irrevelant.

Wright, Obama and his ungrateful wife can head back to Kenya and start their own nation of hate. Us typical white people will do just fine without them.

Nice to see Obama’s spiritual mentor has learned that hate talk is not that spiritual…oh wait I guess I spoke too soon.
“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone…And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
Good to see that Rev Wright’s protege doesn’t judge people or talk bad about voter’s….oooops

I have read a great deal of comments left on this blog and they are more racist than anything I have heard within the walls of Trinity United Church of Christ in the 20 years I have been there. It is true you don’t understand the culture of the African-American church and the role it has played and continues to play in our community. Our preachers, like Jesus (check book of Matthew), have always preached social justice. I knew Jd. Pincham (deseased) and if he could he would have stood along with the rest of us and applauded Dr. Wright’s eulogy. His family stood and applauded as well as the rest of the dignitaries in attendance. The abolisionist and civil rights movements both had roots in the African American church. Ever wonder why most civil rights leaders were preachers. I invite you all to take the time and listen to the entire sermons, read some history about our country, and the resume of Dr. Wright. Briefly this American hating bigot enlisted for terms in the Marines and Navy while Clinton and others got deferments. He has several doctorates (earned) and speaks 5 languages fluently. The Trinity congregation is 8,000 strong of doctors, lawyers, judges, news reporters, teachers, administrators, and other white collar professionals. These professionals are much too educated to be duped by racist demagogue. Dr. Wright encourages Bible study and clearly draws similarities to lessons from 2000 years ago to those in todays society.

I support Obama, but feel Rev. Wright is a coward to wait so long to speak up. He’s not running for anything but his retirement and Obama has shown more character to not “throw him under the bus” like he’s done Obama who has everything to lose.

Wright is an ex-Marine. If ANYONE has the right to say what he said, it’s him. He gave his service to his country and if that’s how he feels than I’m not going to put him down. It’s not something I would have said, but the man would not say those things if he didn’t feel that way and I think as Americans, it’s more important for us to focus on why he felt he needed to say those things and where they came from rather than distracting ourselves from whatever it is by attacking him and Obama.
