Springsteen Songs Slip into Obama’s Play List Post Endorsement

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: When Senator Obama took the stage a rally in Greenville, North Carolina gone were the words of "City of Blinding Lights," the U2 song that the candidate has regularly taken the stage to since the early days leading up to the Iowa caucus.

Today, however U2′s familiar tunes were replaced with Bruce Springsteen’s "The Rising."

Senator Obama picked up the endorsement of the boss himself on Wednesday.

Is this a preview of Springsteen making an appearance with Obama anytime soon?

The Obama campaign says they’d love to have Springsteen out on the campaign trail but have not made any formal arrangements for joint appearances….yet.

The popular hit "The Rising," is also a staple at former President Clinton’s events as he campaigns for his wife.

Bruce Springsteen hits Raleigh, North Carolina just days before the state’s crucial May 6th primary – for a concert on April 27th. Senator Clinton has agreed to a debate for the same night – and same city – that Senator Obama has not yet confirmed he will attend.

I as well was BORN IN THE USA. But I never imagined I’d have the opportunity of voting for such a wonderful presidential candidate as Barack Obama. I was proud of this country, I’m even more proud of it now.

Elect Obama: Hillary Clinton says “yes, yes, yes”!!!
And Jo, you are wrong about being proud of your country no matter what! A true patriot is able to take his country to task for its mistakes. You repugnants have backed Bush for eight years, and now are backing his clone, John McBush!!! That’s not patriotism — it’s poor foolishness.

Obama spells doom for this country. Not only because of his dubious affiliations with mob members like Rezko and criminals like Auchi, but because of his lack of experience and bias education especially his bizarre religious affiliations. He is like silly putty; able to change his ideas for the public as needed so as to achieve his goal as supreme leader.
His intentions are unclear, but his affiliations are clear. Being surrounded with people like the violent Ayers, or the Hiteresque Wright, or his American hating wife Michelle, or his Kenyan half brother Islamic Jihad terrorist Abongo “Roy” Obama, or his Jewish/Israeli hating best friend Rashid Khalidi, or his close advisor Robert Malley who advocates supporting and helping the terrorist group Hamas, or Mr. McPeaks, Obama’s military advisor who open believes American Jews are the “problem.” and “Christian Zionists were driving America’s policy in Iraq to benefit Israel,” or Obama’s super delegate and major long term supporter Senator Meeks who openly hates and distrust all whites and gays or Obama’s most dangerous affiliation to Mr. Auchi who was Saddam Hussein right hand man and made billions in Iraq and has been a important supporter and behind the scene man throughout Obama’s rise to power.
And besides all this questionable laundry in Obama’s life, another serious question is why is Obama protected and promoted by the media? Is this also being directed from behind the scenes? The American public has been fooled before and I guess those in power know we can be fooled again. (Kennedy’s assassination, Martin Luther King’s assassination, the invasion of Iraq…).
The fact that Obama has made it this far demonstrates the collective lack of discriminative intelligence and education of this country. And nothing demonstrates this better than how well Obama plays his black card; which plays on our fear of being labeled a racist.

Why are they using this guy’s music, shoudn’t they be using yours instead? After all, isn’t the Obama campaign paying good money for it already, as well as your time, and your steady drumbeat?

“A true patriot remains proud all the time.”
Some other poster wrote this “slogan.” This is a crap statement and I dare you to defend it, if you can. A “true patriot” wouldn’t have fought for American independence, either. A true patriot wouldn’t demand investigations into corruption. A true patriot wouldn’t allow the great name of the USA to be sullied, no matter what kind of illegal, immoral acts it commits. By your definition, a true patriot has to keep smiling and waving the flag no matter what. I guess you believe that when your child cheats on a test or beats up another kid, you should pat them on the head and say, “Good Job!” because it makes you a “supportive parent.”
As an American, I have a right, and an obligation, to insist that my country keeps the promises it makes; that it meets the obligations it owes, and that the people we elect to represent us act responsibility, in the best interest of of ALL of us, and not in ways that are reckless and irresponsible, that endanger us. I have the right to insist that every purple child born in America will enjoy the same access to food, healthcare and education as every blue child, because our constitution guarantees this. I won’t take no for an answer, and as long as our country fails to deliver on these promises, I will complain. You can sit by and knit and sing “God Bless America” while the empire crumbles around you. Dissent is not un-American.

And to think that I used to consider ABC a legitimate news source. For years I trumpeted Night Line a must watch 5 nights s week. Ted Koppel was a preeminent newsman. Since he left Night Line is a bad joke and last night’s embarrassment was the abyss. All I can think is that ABC aspires to sink to the depths of FOX and you are doing darn well at reaching that “goal”. Shame on you! Obviously you are out of touch with what American’s need…health care, out of the war, no foreclosures, infrastructure renewal, to be part of the world conversation, sustainability etc. We could care less about lapel pins, neighbors, what our pastor says on occasion. Get relevant.

Obama’s tax “fairness” will put a cigarette in the mouth of everyone’s 401k. Most American’s own stock and when you sell your house you pay Capital gains tax. If it goes fron the current 15% to his 28%, your tax bill almost doubles.

Jo, you got the landslide right but you are WRONG on the candidate. Did you hear John Murtha yesterday. The presidentcy is no place for an OLD man. Obama is the only one that can start cleaning up the mess the bush-league created. Obama 2008!

Stop Obama! Obama will cause the dollar to plummet, Oil to sky rocket, he’ll start wars, send jobs over sea and make Americans pay for it, borrow money from China and make everyone pay except the guys that received the money. He may even have a group of thugs like Exxon and Enron write energy policy or worse, smash the economy and then change the bankruptcy law so that everyone lives like a sharecropper.
Oh crap, my wife said it’s already been done……never mind.
Stop Obama anyway, sharecropping isn’t so bad. It worked just fine in Mexico until the revolution.

Jo:
McCain is getting some edge in the polls at the moment because he’s basically on vacation while the Democratic Nomination process is drawn out.
When the nomination is finalized, the polls MIGHT begin to be more realistic. Though I’m not much of a believer in polls, anyway. But McCain will not fare well against Obama and a united Democratic Party.
As for baggage and Kerry, etc. I can only hope the American people learned from their mistake in 2004 in reelecting Bush/Cheney instead of impeaching them. Time will tell.
So, keep up your optimism; it’ll help lessen the depression in November when McCain loses badly!!!

I’m one of Obama constituents here in the socialist state of Illinois. I am in field service and travel around the state quite a bit. Let me tell you the people of Illinois are none to happy with their Senator Obama and are actually looking forward to getting him out of the senate in 2010,as well as his partner Durbin in 2008! I even saw a poll from Massachusetts that has Obama only beating McCain by 2% and its only April!!
Thats my rant
FIGHT ‘EM UNTIL YOU CAN’T!!!!!

Posted by: Jack | April 17, 2008, 10:00 pm 10:00 pm

Jack-I feel your pain. I have a daughter living in Illinois. Remember Obama got elected after the media somehow broke into Ryan’s SEALED divorce settlement from 5 years earlier and smeared him on the suggestions he made to his then WIFE, Jeri Ryan, 7 of 9, on Star Trek Voyager. It was released so late that there wasn’t time to get a real opponent. Obama is too green and naive and marxist. A Neville Chamberlin of the 21st century.

JO…Michelle wasn’t proud because her husband might win. She was REALLY proud because people were getting so envolved in politics finally. You mis quoters are something else. Exact quote was “for the first time in my adult life I am REALLY proud……” Can you say you are actually a proud Republican? Are you so blind to all that is wrong with our country thanks to Bush?

The Rising is OK, but not his best. Some suggestions for future rallies:
Lost In The Flood, The E Street Shuffle, Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out, Born To Run, Badlands, The Promised Land, Out In The Street, The River, Reason To Believe, No Surrender, Because The Night, Tougher Than The Rest, Leap Of Faith, Streets Of Philadelphia, Murder Incorporated, This Hard Land, Youngstown, My Love Will Not Let You Down, Land Of Hope And Dreams, Further On (Up The Road), Radio Nowhere, Last To Die.

NANCY-I WAS proud when the statue of Sadam was pulled down. The guy violated his probation, no make that “double secret probation” a ton of times. The UN failed to act. Russia and France were owed money by Sadam. Since then, Germany, Canada, Italy and even France have voted in pro-American leaders that are less liberal. The only “whole world” that hates us is the Arab world. That has been the case for 60 years. Remember Sirhan Sirhan? Shot RFK for supporting arms to Israel? Sirhan was convicted on April 17, 1969. ANOTHER day I was proud.

Jack you are not from Illanois, but New York. WestCoastMessanger, Hill the Bosnian General is the past the years 1990s nobody would like to transform again the Lincoln bedroom into a paid guesthouse. Hill and Bill are a couple of 109 milion dollars and 800 000 from Colombia’s Urube to ship American jobs to South America. This is not a question of money from Obama ‘s side and for Hill’s side a question of trust and who get back America back to leasd the world and solve economic issues and fainess. The Boss is making his great contribution to that objective. Hill the Bosnian General is unlectable and you have to live with that reality, face the reality as some people will say. God bless America and God Bless Obama.OBAMA08.

Michelle Obama said ‘For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction & not feeling so alone in my frustration & disappointment. I have seen people hungry to be unified on some basic common issue & it has made me proud” Found on You Tube from Fox News.
With the internet you can find complete speeches, interviews for yourself and not believe sound bites taken totally out of context, quotes that have been chopped up. US media distorts what all 3 have said.

Flag pins, Rev. Wright…just curious, is that what passes for a debate in America?
No wonder we foreigners think the U.S. is a joke. What happens in your country greatly affects the rest of the world. THAT is why the world wants Obama to win.

He’s such an untrustworthy character. I can not vote for someone who has said through words that he is a patriotic uniter but by actions and associations shows otherwise, won’t wear an american flag pin? affiliates with people who are angry at america and angry at whites? Common, wake up! I’d much rather vote for Hillary or McCain who may not be perfect but are determined to do their best in representing a country that they LOVE!

Posted by: jz | April 18, 2008, 2:54 pm 2:54 pm

Is it true that today in our country we must define patriotism as the need to wear an american flag pin, made in China, painted with lead-based paint, manufactured for mere pennies in another country where salaries are equal to a single dollar a day, then sold here in the U.S.A. for $5.00, so we can all feel good about ourselves, pat ourselves on the back for getting to buy the pin really inexpensively, and tell ourselves that we are patriotic and those who don’t wear the pin, are not?

There will NOT be a Springsteen concert in Raleigh, NC on April 27th or any other date…at least none that have been announced. Don’t know where this horribly flawed information comes from.

Posted by: ER | April 20, 2008, 6:06 pm 6:06 pm

By the way, why is it that the democrats always use foreigners for their campaign songs? Bill used Fleetwood Mac (originally 100% British, 3/5 Brit. at the time and a song by one of the British members), Obama an Irish group and Hilary a Canadian. What’s up with that?
